No Biggie really. We will still go to the knock out stages and at some point you have to play the so called tough teams regardless of finishing top or second. There were many positives about the game and it was what we all wanted really – 90 minutes for the kids to show their stuff. It is always hard to show your best when you know, deep down, that the match itself doesnt make the slightest fucking difference to anything.
All good experience and great to be in a position that you have that luxury in the first place.
Now back to the Premiership and a game that matters.
“The Dalkeith-born player’s recent goal against the Merseysiders was reminiscent of Cristiano Ronaldo at his very best, such was the technique involved.”
I never remember Ronaldo scoring a goal even remotely similar to that one.
@bigphil2003
I dont remember one remotely like that either but journalists think they are world class if they are writing about world class fottballers. Unfortunately for that journalist he is not going to win a Pulitzer any time soon.
I’d be inclined to agree with the Guardian’s comments, but nobody expected us to change a side so completely from the weekend and absolutely hammer Besiktas. Its not a disaster either though, we’re certainly going to finish as group winners.
i agree mostly with red rants and i’d like to add that jonny evans was also immense this season.
either way, we cannot keep hoping for an easy passage into the champions league…all teams look dangerous and can pose a threat on any given day. We completely dominated chelsea, one of the strongest and most consistent team in the CL this year. So why fear anyone else?
Referees, hate the cunts.
Liverpool – Masherano should of been sent off ealier, Lucas made 9 fouls in the game and not one yellow, Carragher should of also been sent off, maybe should of had 1 penalty if not 2.
Chelsea – Community shield, evra down, head injury, referee dont do nothing, plays on and they score from it and then in the premiership when we played them Valenica gets pulled down in the box, Rooney onside, Flecther wins the ball they get a free kick, drogba pulls down brown..
Burnley – Owen scores a goal which is onside but they call it offside.
Sunderland – Reid handball, Evra took out in the penalty box….
Cska Moscow – Flecther should of had a clear penalty, but no.
Last night – Evra running through in goal, 1 of there players put there arm out infront of him, not trying to get the ball at all and brings him down.
Disgrace really..
Red Rant – No way Evra should be left out of any ‘best player so far’ considerations.
All made for a very good read.I agree with all of them.
I’m starting to think the main reason that the powers that be are opposed to video refereeing is that they gain nothing, people still watch football, but they lose power. At the moment the referees are an albeit quite subtle way for the FA and FIFA to influence events on the pitch, if referees are replaced with a more thorough system that control is lost.
We saw it with France and Ireland, we’ve seen it in the premiership with United coming up against 12 men on more than one occasion because the FA don’t want one team to dominate. The governing bodies don’t have to do anything so crude as to ask for refs to bend one way or the other, but by the very nature of their relationship with the officials it’s pretty much a given that the governing bodies will get the results that they want as far as it is possible.
I mean look at the Italian league, that was rigged for years, and a lot of people made a lot of money from it. With video referees in place it’s not only the players that are under the spotlight, it’s the refs, their power to influence results is gone, they are left merely as, well, referees. Which is clearly not enough for some.
Course though I’m not an expert, I’m just a gobshite
But since Pierluigi Collina has also weighed in on the side of technology to keep referees honest that, to me, is case closed. The guy is the Cantona of referees and if he says refs need technology then refs need technology.
We need video refereeing one hundred percent.
It’s a shame when teams like France are helped to beat “minnows” like Ireland simply so that the crooked bosses of FIFA can get more money.
i’m surprised evra wasn’t mentioned in the United Rant, he’s definitely been one of our best performers this year! i’m seriously tired of not getting any referree calls our way, are we EVER going to get a penalty when we deserve it? if we had gotten one against cska at OT, we probably would’ve won the game and been top of our group, right? honestly, i don’t care about facing harder opponents sooner, it’ll be over and done with then. real madrid’s defense has been utter shit, barca hasn’t been the barca of last year, even though they totally outclassed inter. this year, i don’t really the italian teams doing much of anything…and yeah, the kids played well yesterday, but they played like our first team, no finishing!!!!!! one would think that having solsjkaer as your coach would mean their finishing would be good. for eg, take pedro or bojan from barcelona, they’re kids too and to be honest i don’t think either of them are that good, but they can score goals- their finishing is spot on. macheda and welbeck are probably better than those two in almost everything else, cept for the finishing department :@
Jellybean.disagree mate.at this moment pedro and bojan are better.one of the reasons maybe that they have played more games in the first team.pedro has scored 5 goals in all comps and has been good in most of the games.bojan has not got much of a chance like kiko and welbeck but did well in 07 08 when barca were struggling.we may have to face difficult teams sooner but i wont be as optimistic as i was last 2 years of us being able to get past barca or inter although a lot can change between now and feb.
vidic rejects transfer rumours
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/m/man_utd/8381578.stm
Anyone got a video or gif of the penalty Evra should of had..?
@ AIG- hmm i see what you mean about bojan and pedro playing more for the first team because they’re better. but i end up watching all of the barca games, and except for their goals, they pretty much disappear the rest of the game. particularly bojan, he reminds of me raul (real madrid). won’t do anything for a few games, will pop up and score 2 goals and disappear the rest of the game. but i really do wish kiko and welbeck had their finishing skills…as for inter, i really don’t think they’re that strong. they were pathetic against barca! and you could totally tell that mourinho’s basic game plan was to kick the shit out of the barcelona players…he’s still the same. no matter what anyone says, i do NOT want mourinho at Utd. he’s way too defensive and all his teams follow the same tactics- systematic fouling and keeping 10 men behind the ball. altho this season, inter’s been scoring quite a few goals in the Serie A, but i think we’ll (hopefully) be able to beat them easy.
Of course we can beat Inter and Barca. We are Manchester United.
@King Eric
yeah mate:-).
guys i’m glad vida came out today quashing the rumours, same goes for tosic. oh i wish he could get games. glad that berba is back fit and hopefully will play against portsmouth. you know what it sickens me to know that some people slag off our young team where as infact it’s good enough to beat most teams in the premier league. i remember yesterday some people on the blog slating kiko and welbeck and saying they’re shit and not good enough it’s fair to say some fans are spoilt. hope to see a certain eikrem possibly against those london cunts spurs who i in disbelief could’nt bear to listen to a stolen anthem in glory glory. the young boys last night were great kiko’s and welbeck’s movement was fantastic and i saw park got some inspiration from berba in trying to redo berba’s world class skill ala west ham last season in the first half against besiktas. park was great. have to agree with most points about real their defence is shit and are just pretenders. they looked average for most parts of the season and they seem to play individually. barca are not as terrifying as last season ibrahimovic does’nt do it for me he’s no where near as prolific as eto’o. the guy is overrated. italian clubs don’t threaten enough and it’s league has been declining since the match fixing scandal and from there things have’nt been the same since. united rant should’ve had evra on their list. sorry again guys what’s this rumour about ruud going to the scouse scum is it true. would be gutted to see a legend donning that scum shirt. ooh i can’t bear to think about it!!!
HARGREAVES’ CURLY HAIR – Yeah I saw Park’s version of Berba’s West Ham piece of magic . He almost pulled it off and should have got the corner. It was good to see him back last night. He gets a fair bit of stick from some but in my opinion he is a decent player and plays a role for United.
Ruud won’t go the dippers. They can’t afford his wages and the last thing they need is another injury prone striker.
Guys check this. It is fucking wonderful read about the team of this season.
http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/2746349/Channel-5-is-top-Kop-telly.html
i was one of the ones that said kiko and welbeck wernt good enough last night, kiko cant keep relying on the goal against villa, but u and king eric etc keep agreeing with eachother and use will be fine
Ulster Red – Please tell me where on here I said Kiko and Wellbeck played well last night. I didn’t. What I DID say was that they don’t deserve some of the stick they have been getting. It was their debut in Europe. They are young lads. They will learn from it. Some people are far too quick to get on players back on the back of a defeat. As many people have said we don’t have a god given right to win every game.
Xyth – Classic. Proper piss take. The Sun will be even more popular in Liverpool.
do you honeslty think that they havnt been around long enough to give a better performance at home against a side the fucking dippers hammered?
Ulster Red – Been around long enough? It was their first start in Europe. The Champions league against any team is completely different to the Carling Cup and Premier league as I am sure you are aware. They were playing well and linking up till Besiktas scored. They never seemed to get going again. I was hoping Scholes would come on to try and find a way through their 10 man defence.
i knew it was their first start in europe, well i thought they would have put a better performance in, its only an opinion, just worrying god forbid anything serious happens 2 wazza or berba
Ulster Red – I know what you mean mate. I reckon Fergie may go for another striker at some point as he usually favours 4 top strikers. That is all I feel we are lacking, just in case like you say Rooney and Berba ever happen to be injured at the same time.
“Please tell me where on here I said Kiko and Wellbeck played well last night. I didn’t. What I DID say was that they don’t deserve some of the stick they have been getting. Spot on, King Eric.
Danny Welbecks going to become a legend here, i love the boy, his good enough to make it here by far just hope he does and we dont sell him or nothing.
Macheda started in the last game against CSKA. Kiko hasn’t been on this season so far in the few opportunities that we’ve seen him but like Welbeck – they’re both still quite young – and still quite raw.
Both of them may need loan spells with regular football of a certain level and away from the cushiness of Utd if they’re to actually blossom and show the world that they can contribute consistently.
Just look at what Tom Cleverly is doing at Watford – Macheda and Welbeck maybe need a similar learning experience to benefit their confidence and convince Sir Alex that they’re worth hanging onto as regualar first-teamers.
Jack – Cheers pal.
Joseph – Yeah I think it would certainly help but perhaps Fergie thinks Wellbeck and Macheda may be needed at some point in the season. Looking forward to seeing Cleverley at Old Trafford next season. He is playing a blinder for Watford and the experience will prove invaluable.
Some good news I have just seen in an Ian Ladyman article is that the rentboys, Arsenal and City may lose their African players for as much as TEN games now, longer then they thought. They are arguing it out with FIFA.
Is it me or every time I look in a paper or on the internet there is another rentboy saying how they are gonna win the league? Terry, Droba, Anelka now. Getting far too cocky. United just go about their business quietly.
@AIG hi…thanks for the wishes really needed just finished my final years exams…
So when is tosic going to get a chance to play??…he’s been doing really good in the reserves..
@ king eric- i was just thinking the same! read an interview from terry where he said that all the england players have been talking about how good chelsea have been playing and are starting to fear them again….who does he think they are?!
@Moneesh
Hi mate. Hope your exams were good and you pass with flying colours.You can enjoy now that you are done with the exams.
I personally want to see Tosic given a chance.He is doing well for the reserves and has bulked up a bit. Hope he plays against Spurs next week and we can then see whether he really can be a first team regular.
@King Eric
fuck tiny tears the russian mafia are’nt as nowhere good as us let alone even spurs play better football than them. forget tiny tears he.sy not even fit enough to lick rio’s boots as well as vida and in the near future there’ll be jonny evans. that fucking cunt annoys me he acts like a fucking solider and is nowhere near being one. he is a filthy rugby tackler. the ABU are deluded biased cunts wonder what happened to the ABU section of dipper fans. they kept on saying how this is their year. anyway chelski is an overrated bunch of team and we outplayed them the whole game without being vintage united. says a lot about their team a bunch of cunts who i can’t stand. people only praise them after beating wolves and blackburn 4 and 5 nils. those cunts have’nt even been tested already although in saying that they needed a blue ref and cheating to beat us. same goes for the arsewipes it really baffles me when people have been praising them for beating small teams yet they could’nt beat us regardless of some fans saying wazza dived and we needed an own goal to win that’s not the point as a matter of fact they could’nt beat us at the end of the day let alone sunderland goodness me they looked average. it makes me also sick how wenger in almost every press confdrence he tries to hold a high moral ground over others and tries to act like a saint and as if his team is always targeted by other prem players. the press in london are so biased it’s sickening. sorry for the long rant these london teams think that they’re the best in the country!
Morning everyone. Do we still have arecord in champions league?
@The Kenyan Redvill
Morning mate:-).to answer you no we don’t have one at home anymore our 23 game unbeaten run ended after the besiktas game although in saying that we still have another one away in the champions league it’s a 17 game unbeaten run so nothing to worry about mate. i think in reference to the besiktas game fergie’s main priority in europe was to give the young lads a chance even if it came at the expense of losing our proud unbeaten run in the champions league. anyway it’s a learning process for the young starlets and i’m sure they’ll learn from it. hope we pile more misery on portsmouth and give them a backlash. onwards and upwards. ONE united. we’ll never die!!!:-)
by the way do any of you guys think hargo will be ready for first team action when we go to wolfsburg? i hope so.
HARGREAVES’ CURLY HAIR – Ha Ha Calm down, calm down!! Spot on though mate. They haven’t really been tested yet and hopefully they will come a cropper on Sunday. Smug arrogant bastards. Tiny tears even said summat like “we have got the fear factor back, when we were winning ALL those leagues teams used to fear us”. ALL those leagues? You mean the two when United were in transition. Their cockiness in my opinion will come back to bite them on the arse. As I said last night our lads just quietly go about their business. As for the ABU’S they need someone to cheer on for the league title. As you say it was the dippers in the summer. Now they look very foolish so obviously move on to the next team in the list.
ps – London teams think they are the best in the country. Notts Forest have more European Cups than the lot of them put together. Forever in the North’s shadow.
More of such, Fergie. I personally want Sir Giggs to be used as a sub from now on. Start gabby/nani/tosic/valencia. Don’t think Giggs in @ 65th min. is a bad idea. Even that when we are finding things difficult. I believe in our youngsters.
