Cristiano Ronaldo has had an incredible season so far for United, totally eclipsing the season which saw him collect a clean sweep of all the domestic awards. His goalscoring record currently stands at 30 goals in 31 games in all competitions for United, and he leads the Premiership leaderboard with 21 goals.
Arsenal’s striker, Emmanuel Adebayor is currently joint second with Liverpool’s Torres on 19 league goals. In total, he’s scored 23 goals in 37 games, some way of Ronaldo’s tally for the season. However, he has today claimed he will not allow himself to be dominated by a midfielder.
“I am a striker and cannot let myself be dominated by one midfielder,” he said. “I just want to prove I can score more goals. If I can get to 30 it will be for Thierry (Henry) because he believed I could do it.”
To reach this total, Adebayor would have to score 11 goals in Arsenal’s remaining 9 games, in comparison to the 9 goals Ronaldo would need in our remaining 10 matches.
Will Ronaldo be the winner of the golden boot this season?

Man Utd News 24/7

It’s not like Ronaldo has to do much proving anymore, he is a player who starts on the flanks and spends a lo of time on them too. All he has to do is maintain his form.
Adebayor and Torres are top quality, I’d say Torres is the better of the two which is a shame as he plays for the scousers.
A player who is going to beat Bests record, well he has to be BEST
Ronaldo will be Golden Boot. He’s more of a striker masquerading as a midfielder. Or maybe it’s the the other way round. Either way it has much more to do with the general superiority of Utd’s squad and SAF’s tactics than Ronaldo’s (admittedly spectacular) talent.
Gooner admitting the superiority of Ronaldo and Torres….imagine all 3 together! wow!
I remember last season (sadly) when Adebayor scored at Old Trafford, when he was linked (in scummy news papers) with a link to United, I was all for it as a United fan. He has been even better this year, but not world class like Ronny or Torres. He may just get there in the next year or so if he performs well in Europe.
I hope not
you are delusional if you put Rooney and torres in the same class. I’m a united fan but I would take torres or adebayor any day of the week over Rooney. Strikers get paid to score goals and sadly Rooney squanders more goals than he scores. He is a great player but his finishing and first touch are shocking.
oh my bad you said ronny not Rooney. Ronny is world class, and the best in the world this season
Drama – Rooney is not an out and out striker, so no real comparison can be formed between him and Adebayor/Torres anyway. As a forward, his job is to score and to create.
In 33 league games last season, Rooney scored 14 and assisted 11. So 26 goals were scored or created by him in 33 games.
This season so far, he has 18 league appearances with 8 goals and 8 assists. So 16 goals have been scored or created by him in 18 games.
Don’t be so harsh on the lad.
Good shout Scott.
