“I won’t sit here and say I wouldn’t like to have Robbie Keane at my club because I would be a liar if I did,” said Redknapp. “I have a lot of time for Robbie as a player and as a person, he’s fantastic.”

After reporting both Liverpool and Manchester United to the Premier League for tapping up Robbie Keane and Dimitar Berbatov, only to then drop their claim once their asking prices were met, Spurs went on to pester Boro over Stuart Downing.

In the summer, Daniel Levy blasted United and Liverpool for continuing to bid for their players, despite being told Keane and Berbatov weren’t for sale.

“We told both clubs very early on that we had no interest in selling Robbie or Dimitar and that they should refrain from pursuing the player. Both clubs arrogantly chose to ignore this request.”

Four months later, they did exactly the same to Boro.

Now, Liverpool have made a complaint to the Premier League about Spurs’ conduct in relation to Robbie Keane. In a more blatent attempt than either United or Liverpool, their manager, Harry Redknapp, has mentioned Keane by name, claiming he is a player he wants back at the London club.

Spurs took their complaint against United to the Premier League, however they were turned away. The panel wanted ‘more evidence’, something clearly Spurs didn’t have.

As reported here in The Times: Tottenham charge held up by lack of evidence.
The Premier League has demanded more details over Manchester United’s alleged illegal approach for Dimitar Berbatov.

Daniel Levy, the Tottenham chairman, has complained that United have breached the Premier League’s regulations K3, which prevents approaches to players under contract elsewhere, and K8, which prohibits public statements expressing intent to sign another club’s player. The Premier League’s three-man board – Sir Dave Richards, Richard Scudamore and Mike Foster – discussed the complaint at a meeting yesterday but decided that they did not have enough evidence to reach a conclusion.

I guess Spurs left the crucial evidence at home that day, eh?

There is little chance of anything being done, other than Spurs being reminded of how they should conduct themselves. Let’s not forget how Real Madrid stalked Ronaldo over the summer, yet they faced no punishment.

Still, it is fairly amusing to see Spurs guilty of exactly what Levy was losing his shit over in the summer. And it looks as though Liverpool are asking for their “charity donation” back!
