Agent: Kiko Disappointed By Loan Spell

Federico Macheda’s agent, Giovanni Bia, has conceded that the player’s loan spell has been an unsuccessful one due to the pressure he was under.

When he joined the club on loan at the beginning of the year they were 8th, however, they have felt the departure of Antonio Cassano, who left for AC Milan a month before Kiko’s arrival. Cassano had scored 5 goals in 9 games before leaving and it appears as though our striker hasn’t coped well in trying to fill the former Real Madrid player’s boots.

Sampdoria are now 18th and 2 points away from safety.

“He played well at the start, then he was perhaps caught up in the vortex for survival,” he said. “If even the older players couldn’t raise Sampdoria then a 20-year-old boy certainly wasn’t going to be able to do that. There is too much pressure and criticism in the Italian game and I think the player himself has been left disappointed by all of it. Although he settled well into the city, perhaps he rushed his return to Italy given that the game has different pressures here than in England.”

Kiko’s agent hasn’t ruled out the possibility of the player staying in Italy next season though.

“I don’t know what will happen with Macheda next season, I’ll have to talk to Manchester United,” Bia added. “Staying at Sampdoria could turn out to be a useful experience for him, even if they were playing in Serie B next term. However, it’s too early to say at the minute.”

    STR- dont you ever sleep?

  2. mattbw7 says:

And it looks like SAF will sell him, tough time for him.

  3. mattbw7 says:

Yes sometimes he sleeps for days, then a flurry of activity and then back to sleep.

  4. Warwick says:

I have vision of you in your united shirt, green n gold scarf, ciggie glued to your lips, hunched over your computer, searching the internet for stories to fire us up!

  5. Clint-IamYourPapii says:

scott the red is not a man….he is cantona ? :P

  6. Warwick says:

    Pre-Glazer utd shirt, that is

  7. Kings says:

He’s just not used to playing for a shit team, hence the pressure. I sincerely hope he gets a chance at United next season, but I have a feeling he will go the same way as Rossi.

  8. Saad says:

For development, Kiko should’ve gone to the Bundesliga, not Serie A. He would’ve learned good technique but he also would have learned how to deal with the physicality and speed of German football. That would have prepared him better for England.

  9. RedPharoe says:

Maybe it is time for him to leave. We have alot of great offensive prospects, and there might just not be room for him next season.

  10. Whiteside says:

Probably won’t be back, is how i’m reading it. Good luck to the lad and i’ll always think of him as a United legend, for that goal alone. His other strike v the Villa was also quite tasty.

  11. Gotta hate tiny tears says:

Kiko has spent his loan spell watching Chicha on his ele and just thinking “Bollox”

So Id agree with it been disappointing

  12. Whiteside says:

If STR is anything like I imagine him he’s sitting in his United shirt and United pants and United slippers, swigging from his United glass and waiting just waiting for the end of the Glazer reign so he can modernise his wardrobe / house. (-:

  13. viva chicharito says:

Mark my words he will return next year and will most likely be sent out on loan again this time in england.. he has a very BIG future at united.. Fergie knows it, for those of you that have watched youth team and reserve team football u will agree that the lad is class…. he has never played for us with our 1st 11 always in the carlin cup where he was asked to play upfront by him self with a weak team.. just look at the starts everyitme he has come off the bench we have either scored/ drawn/ won the game.. quality quality finisher and physically he is better then rossi hence the reason why he will stay with us…..

  14. FletchTHEMAN says:

Missed opportunities never work out well. Said that his going to Italy was a bad sign as the style of play is nothing like the prem. Success is always going to make its own path, but seeming failure was always going to be a problem. Now we need to decide. With the emergence of Javier Hernadez, the road back to Old Trafford may be exceedingly touch.

Like Kiko alot. I do wish him well and am confident he will find his way. Always thought his style would work well in spain. Maybe Villareal could give him a look.

  15. bbq bod says:

never rated him highly tbh. he hasnt got that world class of someone like Hernandez or Rooney. I hadnt even missed him until I read this post and then it was like ..oh yeah Kiko…i had forgotten all about him. He simply aint good enough to be a first choice United striker. Good luck to him though.

  16. willierednut says:

We don’t really know if he’s good enough, the lad hasn’t had an extended run in the team. Some of his finishes, would suggest he’s got something about him. The problem for him and for Danny as well, is the blistering form of Hernandez. We are top heavy up front, so some will be leaving club. Just a matter of who that will be. Never forget his goal against the Villa at OT, Macheda!

  17. fergie is the boss says:

willierednut – it all depends on the berbatov situation really. I do not rate macheda that highly, you know a striker when you see one. And kiko is just not going to get in ahead of rooney and hernandez

  18. ryder91 says:

did anybody else see the news of the world printing SAF saying that he was trying to make macheda’s move permanent. I hope not, he’d be a great striker in a few years…

  19. Zelh says:

I really like the lad. there’s definitly something special about him. But if it’s enough to get into our team? that’s what the gaffer has to decide.
some of his finishes were worldclass. specially against villa.

  20. dannysoya says:

I think for most of these young strikers they have to have strength. Chicharito is exceptional cuz he makes up for his lack of physical prowess with quick legs, positioning and goals. Macheda either has to hit the gym or learn how to put himself in the best position to score. I think if he works hard on one of these two areas he can be big at united. I had even forgotten we loaned him TBH.

  21. King Eric says:

Dannysoya. Have to have strength and be good in the box? Kiko has both those in spades. Did you see how big he was at seventeen? Was there that day when he scored THAT goal so whatever happens to him I will always like the kid.

  22. Samuel - united WE stand says:

He should have gone on loan to a premier league team, somewhere like wigan or westbrom, team’s that play nice football and he’d have got plenty of starts to prove himself, the pressure would be less too and he’d gradually adapt to the premier league full time

But what does he do? picked the easiest option and fucked off to italy thinking it would be all sunshine and less stress but italian league is hard tactically so you have to be one clever striker to make it there.

I don’t know about kiko to be honest, i don’t know if he’ll make it at this club as some aspects of his game are lacking, clearly talented though so won’t write him off already but he needs to improve his attitude as there are younger players waiting to take his place.

  23. King Eric says:

Samuel. Hello mate. How do you know it was Kiko s decision to go to Italy? It could well have been Fergies. You can’t just say he picked the easy option.

Off topic. Why the fuck are Sky lauding Mancini as some sort of genius for getting citeh fourth? For fuck sake. They have spent three hundred bastard million. Yeah will done. I fucking hate the arrogant suave cunt. Pla ayyyyy ers. Silly fucking accent that REALLY gets my back up. The chancer cunt won’t last two minuted when the pressure is really on. Have you seen the state of the stress head on the touchline? Wait till pressure is really on. All season long this cunt has disrespected United. Continuously tipping the rentboys as Champions despite united leading since end of November. Honeslt I cannot stand him. I saw his spat with Tevez. What a laughing stock this club is. Tevez like a fucking caveman snarling at his manager. What a clusterfuck. Players fighting. Fuck all team spirit or pride in the club. I mean empty seats in a game THIS big. It beggars belief. Everything about them is second rate. Even the horrible fucking washed out blue kit is awful. United are red. Stand out. These cunts just look insipid. All the fans look and act like divs. Fucking tatoos and shit before they even win out. No I can safely say I am so glad I support United. Fuck off City.

  24. Samuel - united WE stand says:

I don’t know if fergie would actually pick italy when he knows kiko needs to be physically and mentally ready for this demanding league.

I’m only guessing here but i’m thinking his agent and him engineered the move so he could be closer to home, football wise for a player wanting to make it in the premier league, serie a was the wrong option, could have gone germany or like i said stayed in england where loads of clubs were vying for his loan signature.

I think there are serious doubt now about him making it at united as the standards are very high, there are fierce competition which would either make a player or break him.

Next season will be even harder for him to break through as welbeck, diouf, king will all be fighting for a spot, he either knuckles down and improve his attitude to the game while applying hardwork to improve or he’ll be moved on, its up to him.

  25. Samuel - united WE stand says:

@KING ERIC – I don’t know if fergie would actually pick italy when he knows kiko needs to be physically and mentally ready for this demanding league.

  26. dannysoya says:

@King eric. Hello. Sure Kiko has strength but The kind of strength i am talking about is the strength to hold off two big strong premier lge defenders like Rooney does. i don’t think he has that. I think he’s a bit on the lean side. And when i talk of positioning i talk of the Hernandez , michael owen, pippo inzaghi kind of positioning. I don’t think he has that quite yet. But it’s just my opinion doesn’t mean that it is by all means the truth.

  27. unmesh says:

a few difficult months in a relegation threatened team and suddenly he’s isn’t good enough for united? he never was? i just don’t get some of the reactions here. the kid’s shown enough promise to be given a full season at united. rooney is moving into a midfield role, so that leaves us a striker short. berba will be retained just for experience, the other 2 will be danny and kiko.

  28. denton davey says:

unmesh @ 3:17: “berba will be retained just for experience, the other 2 will be danny and kiko.”

I agree with you about Dimmy – “the best thing about being a Manchester United player is being a Manchester United player.” What a great response – just like his reactions shown on the telly on Sunday.

About KikoTheKid – I’m not so sure. Kiko couldn’t force his way into an Italian bottom-ranked team (think Blackburn or Blackpool or Wigan) so is he really likely to be “special” ? He might just have peaked on that afternoon two years ago when he scored the winner against Aston Vlla.

Danny Welbeck did OK at Sunderland but, really, he didn’t set the world on fire. He doesn’t seem “special” to me.

And, by the way, when I talk about a player being “special” I have set the bar really, really, really high because it looks like only a “special” talent is going to get a sniff of first-team footie at OT as long as WayneBoy and Chicharito are the first-choice and someone like Dimmy is the back-up.

    on Topic,

to be fair, even SAF dint imagine that Sampdoria will be in this position come end of the season..

Kiko hasnt setlled well there, i bet on that..

i for the one who feel he should have been loaned to some EPL club..

but as they say, everything is a learning curve..

Hernandez, Danny will pip Kikp ( or have) but SAF still wants this boy..

i dont see him out of UTD at the moment..

  30. Ash says:

believe guys.He is a natural goal scorer and we cant let go talent like him.
I remember some guys said we should sell welbeck at the start of the season , everyone is saying he will be a starter next season(which he will be) so dont write off macheda. He is a class player. If he wants to be successful he must listen to our sir alex.

@kings Wait, what? Isn’t he here to sell shirts in Asia?
Park is finally getting the recognition he deserves. Park and Valencia have been the main absenties for us this season. Or else we could have wrapped the league by March.

  37. Raizzen says:

Macheda will stay. He’s got that attitude in him that makes me see him doing great for United – well maybe a few yrs from now. But I think he’ll be moving a lot in loan spells before coming back to us and taking the Premier League by the storm again just like he did back in 2009.

I believe. And I hate ‘I dont rate this and that player highly’ comment esp. when its directed to one of our younger players. C’mon. Aren’t we way past that already ? Time and again Fergie has done outsmarting us with Berba, Nani, Carrick, Fletcher and I lost count. Perhaps maybe even Gibbo.

Well, no offense but I just gotta let it out.

    Morning all true REDS

    Enjoy it lads…

    Raizzen

    Good post mate

  39. Adi says:

Our midfield, untill recently, was crying for urgent quality addition. Then Rooney was put in that position and we started steamrolling teams. What does it predict about the future squad? I know Fergie is the supreme tactician and all we can do is speculate. Still, speculating over the next year’s squad is how we will spend our three months of football-starved summer.

First thing first – There is NO Berbatov situation. Yes he is not getting the starts, but look at the lad once. Has he shown an alarming level of discomfort over this? He is through and through United and understands the club really well. His celebrations during this Chelsea match were such a pleasant sight. Another summer of carefree running across Belgium and the Godfather will be ready to start the next season with even more fervor.

Chicharito has been terrific but we should not forget the ‘second-season-syndrome’. Teams will understand his game better next season and will be better prepared. Also, he needs to work a lot on his other aspects of the game – I’m not saying he needs to change his approach but if his direct runs are not working, he should make more of the possession and keep the attack on.

Rooney – Is SAF looking to make him a permanent figure in the midfield? His performances may demand so but this doesn’t look like anything more than a temporary adjustment. He was at his best when he played upfront (the last season). Depends who we are able to sign this summer. Chelsea, City, Pool – everyone will be eyeing the best talent coming to England. Just pray that there is someone good with Berbatov like desire to play for United.

  40. Adi says:

Bulgaria – Not belgium, tho it is beautiful in summer.

  49. Kings says:

  61. Kevin says:

@Raizzen…And I hate ‘I dont rate this and that player highly’ comment …spot on. Who are these guys that write off players careers? You cry Mourinho doesnt give youth a chance, lets take a minute and look at ourselves; Next season we shall have Danny, Tom, Diouf, Kiko and etc, how many will stick with them when they are playing poorly? Some havent gotten a run in the team yet we are so quick to dismiss them. Some on here dont read the reserves progress hence dont know these youth guys and will dismiss them in a heart beat if they fail. They mock SAF when he says there is no value in the market, have they become SAF in disguise. We say we support those who put on the red shirt or do you do it for those that you like and hate those that you can easily discard. Smalling was bashed before he got here, Chicharito was unknown now everyone is singing their praises. So Kiko now is washed up, let me even not start with Mame Diouf.

  62. CedarsDevil says:

Seems we have us another true RED, he goes by the name of Kevin,,,

    Hats off buddy

  63. sachu says:

@ kevin best post of the day so far

  64. Samuel - united WE stand says:

Who is dismissing them? its a realistic view, macheda is 20 now and needs to start nailing down a place in the squad, he is clearly talented but if he doesn’t apply hardwork, he won’t last at a club that demands high standards, fact is he has not improved, he still has time on his side though so hopefully he’ll come good.

  65. ancha says:

    good morning cedars and all

I don’t understand why some people come over here and try to make mockery of something or the other, it is ok if you do this along with some of your own opinion but going straight out only to attack some ill judged comments of a minority of posters isn’t good

and CEDARS pal, I won’t be encouraging these kind of posts, hope you got my point

  66. CedarsDevil says:

    Morning ancha

Not sure what you mean my friend. Have I been bad? Do elaborate buddy

  67. ancha says:

    cedars

it’s about the post by Kevin and I was referring to you at the end of my post as I felt that even a wise head like you is listening to that mockery of fellow reds

  68. feedemscraps says:

Well I for one hope he stays, I will never forget that goal against Villa, almost ran on the pitch to celebrate with the lads.
Managed to get tickets for the game on Sat. only thing is its in with the inbreds, this morning BBC reporting that BRFC are all over this. Never sat watching United in the wrong end, both nervous and excited. Wondering if anyone else was in the same predicament?

  69. CedarsDevil says:

    ancha

Really? Thought his post made sense my friend or is it my old head getting the better of me?

  70. CedarsDevil says:

    ancha

Want me to go back and smack his head is buddy? Would be a pleasure mate

  71. sachu says:

    @ ancha
mate pls read kevins post carefully
its brilliant its just plain truth

  72. Kevin says:

ancha…we all have our opinion, if mine is all wrong go ahead and give the points that seem to you to be all wrong.
I hope you visit the blog when we didnt play well or during game time and after a rare defeat, it is so sad. I come here for hope when everybody and press outlet is screaming we are doomed yet we sometime hurt ourselves from the inside by not supporting the team. Yes the midfield hasnt been consistent and we relish the return of Tom and Danny, we want to see some Pogba and King etc. All am saying is let us give them a chance and when they cant deliver they should be replaced if that fits the boss. Even the class of ’92 made some mistakes in games but each one of them came to their own trust was put in them, when the manager had confidence in them. Smalling wasnt polishe when he came, look at him now.
No disrespect at anyone especially a red but if we put our own down we shall be just like the others

  73. Kings says:

CedarsDevil – Morning my friend. That is indeed true. They say laughter keeps you young, so the more comical antics from that smalltime club the better. Gary Owen was getting all excited on Sky Sports News this morning, I thought he was going to shoot his load all over the camera! Silly cunt.

  74. ancha says:

    @sachu

I dont like it when the posts are solely intended on criticizing a certain minority of posts , it would have been better if he had indicated what he felt rather than having a go at fellow supporters for having an alternate view
if there is a complete cunt posting some nonsense it is fine to address that cunt directly , but those kind are very few and I haven’t seen any such posts in this thread yet, this overblown reaction to some genuine opinion of some fans who are more critical than regular ones is the only thing I don’t like to see happen on this wonderful blog

    cedars

take it easy mate, hope you are fine

  75. sachu says:

    @ ancha
    understood your point mate

  76. Mannings says:

Not a good sign. If he can’t handle the pressure of Sampdoria then how is he expected to handle the pressure at Old Trafford challenging for the league and European honours?

  77. ancha says:

    Kevin

I’m sorry, if my posts conveyed you something which I didn’t mean, I didn’t comment whether your content is right or wrong, I was just pointing that dedicating the whole post in having a go at certain section of supporters who are more critical than normal rather than having a normal dialogue with them is not to my liking, anyway its just my way of having a healthy way of having a debate with fellow reds, I do agree that there will be some cunts who needs to be addressed the way you did but they are very few and they don’t deserve such attention, and I accept that the comments after we had a bad game or after we lost are really out of this world I feel that rather giving attention to those cunts its better to ignore them

there is no point in trying to repair someone who are beyond repair and its better to leave them alone

  78. ancha says:

sorry for the grammar mistakes in my previous post

you can see a lot of constructive criticism which shouldn’t be rubbished straight away, for example the point raised by Mannings in the previous post is a good one its better to answer that to the point rather than having a go at the criticism

  79. King Eric says:

Kevin – Spot on mate BUT i have a feeling we wont see much of Diouf at United .

  80. King Eric says:

Kings – Hello mate. Is that fat Gary Owen cunt Citeh’s spokesperson or summat? He is everywhere banging the drum for the City revolution and European superpower. It is sickening. Some City fan said this morning “Whats it like to be the second biggest team in Manchester” Do me a favour. We have all but won the league and in the European Cup Final. After spending 300 million getting fourth is hardly summat to boast about. Small time club and smalltime fans. Expect the usual media rhetoric of how they are gonna dominate and all that bollocks. They are years behind United. I fucking hate the noisy bastards. THE Comedy Club.

  81. King Eric says:

Mannings – I know what you are saying pal but he handled the run in fine two seasons ago at just 17!

  82. GoatinaUnitedShirt says:

Macheda was a good insurance possibility. If things didn’t go well with first teamers then atleast we had someone who knew the ropes and would slot in seamlessly whilst a replacement found his legs.
Now we have Chico, who is class (that wasnt obvious from the start), Bebrbatov (who had a poor year last year?), Rooney (making noises). Now that those three are settled and long term then there is no point to Macheda. Im not going to criticise his play at Sampdoria as Id rather brush my teeth with the bog brush than watch that shite but these things happen, bad timing. We have Wellbeck and Owen to consider now for the 4th spot. My moneys on Wellbeck. You also have to open up a 5th spot for the deserved reserve King. Diouf is much the same as Macheda. Had Berba had a shitter and Chico not taken off then one of them would have made the 4th spot. As it is their luck has run out.
    Next year will be
Rooney Chico Berbatov Wellbeck and King (occasionally).

  83. Kevin says:

@ancha point noted. I made sure I used the word ‘some’ acknowledging there are those who support the team come rain or sunshine.

  84. Kings says:

King Eric – Hello mate. Yeah sounds like it. He seems to have a lot to say for himself in recent times, the silly fat cunt. The inevitable giddiness is setting in with these small time supporters who as usual try in vain to demean us. They really should be ashamed of themselves boasting about a side who spent big again last summer, only to improve their league position by one place from last season – I know Arsenal have been their usual bottling self, but I cannot see them losing 3rd place – They have a manager who is content on playing defensive minded football at home and gives into player power, with so many cunts in that squad who think they are better than the rest, especially that silly bastard Balotelli. They are a joke and no matter how much money they have will change that fact. Mike Wedderburn on Sky Sports News is a City fan, so expect him to kick off proceedings with the OTT plaudits of City and the rest will soon follow.

Lets be honest here lads and I don’t want to sound like a Liverpool fan slagging off one of our own but after his first 2 goals in 2 appearances he did nothing absolutely nothing, he was being played simply to try and get his price up. At one stage I thought he was going to be one of these fox in the box type players who do nothing on the pitch but at least get you a goal, I’m sorry times up thanks for the winner v Villa but your time is up…
