Ahead Of Burnley Tonight… Chris Eagles’ Best Bits

Despite rarely featuring for United, Chris Eagles had some good moments in our shirt. Ahead of our match against Burnley tonight, let’s look at his best bits…

3. His cracking goal on the pre-season against FC ShenZhen.

2. Should have won a penalty, clattered SWP in revenge, then steered away from a snarling JT by the ref, during our first game since being named Champions, which resulted in Chelsea giving a guard of honour to our Reserves at Stamford Bridge.

1. Putting the final nail in Everton (and Chelsea’s) coffin when we came back from 2-0 down to win 4-2 at Goodison during probably the most important and certainly my favourite day of the season.

A win tonight, topped off by another scouser on the dole. good times. unless your rafa and you just got the push. cheerio.

  2. Marley says:

look at terry in the second vid. jesus christ i cannot stand that man.

  3. Costas says:

That right there should have been Chelsea’s unbeaten home record done with. Imagine that. Embarassing them with our Reserve team. Only an ABU like Graham Poll wouldn’t give that a penalty. Chris gave us 2 great moments in 07. The goal at Goodison and that tackle on SWP.

The nerves are starting again. Will Jonny make a swift return? Will Brown and O’Shea hold the defence? Will Owen finally score? Will Suhayl finally appear?

    Come on United!

  4. TheRadLegion says:

I think he was just embarrassed, it reminded him the way he slipped during the PK lost against us.

  5. vidicgonnagetye says:

That goal against everton was so important thet year. Hope he has a good season but plays bad against us!!

  6. Bishopville Red says:

I always liked the lad. Saw him lay in a preseason friendly against Milan and looked useful. Maybe needs to work on his pace. And his hair.

    SB

  7. TheRadLegion says:

Off topic, but is Oberton still injured?

  8. truereddevil says:

hey guys, does anyone have a link where I can watch tonights game please?

    thank you

  9. Farhan Borst says:

Lol @ Costas. I, too, was wondering where Suhayl had went

  10. Costas says:

Obertan is out until October i think

  11. Costas says:

@Farhan: what can i say? Until he comes back, i will be the nervous one of the bunch…

  12. Tony Starks says:

    Team News.. Ando-Carrick midfield (aaaaargghhhh!)
Owen start – No Vida anywhere!

  13. Costas says:

    Foster-OShea,Evans,Brown,Evra-Park,Carrick,Ando,Giggs-Rooney,Owen

  14. Costas says:

Vidic is getting prepared for Saturday i think. The big news is that Evans returns, but that there is no Nani anywhere.

    Bench: Kuszczak,Neville,De Laet,Gibson,Scholes,Valencia,Berbatov

  15. dickson says:

anyone know any site streaming the game?

  16. Park, Park, wherever you may be says:

I hope Chris (the extremely poor man’s Ronaldo) has a bad day tonight!

    p.s – http://www.nkora.net usually works for streaming :O)

  17. truereddevil says:

i used veetle.com last year, top quality – heres hoping they show games this season. If not someone please post something if they come across anything

  18. dickson says:

thanks for sharing- the sports channels are showing the 2 champions league qualifying games… and real madrid vs dortmund… damnit!

  19. Costas says:

I have the same problem with dickson. All my sports channels are showing pointless Ch.League games!

  20. truereddevil says:

    http://veetle.com/viewChannel.php?cid=4a826622d7561

showing it 100% – top quality – woop woop

  21. MUFC the Religion says:

Nervous wreck. Nervous wreck. I know we all should BELIEVE, but I’ve got a bad feeling.

  22. trevor says:

Anyone know of any tvant channels?

  23. trevor says:

    @neejil,

Steam is stuttering & nearly unwatchable

  24. trevor says:

I have just witnessed an awsome display of keeping from foster!

  25. trevor says:

and i click back and just witness and awsome goal from burnley!

    Shit

  26. Sketch says:

    Shocking defending.

  27. Costas says:

    Fuck

  28. Costas says:

They were having a party in our penalty box for 1 minute. What happens when you have no Rio and no Vidic

  29. sambios says:

I don’t really understand what is happening we start the game so poor.

  30. Mahesh says:

Good to see you again Costas – and good to be back after a while. Though not a very good time just at this minute…Just heard we’re down 1-0…An early season test of character I would say. Lets see how this goes…

  31. Tony Starks says:

Well the defense looks a shambles to be honest

  32. trevor says:

anyone got a goot link to watch it on?

  33. Costas says:

Good to see you too Mahesh. Character is definitely needed now.

  34. trevor says:

tony.. yeah it bloody does! If this keeps up i bet fergie will be turning on the hair dryer!!

  35. trevor says:

Although lads if we can get 1 i woudl bet my house on getting 2

Just have to get our defenive act together!

  36. trevor says:

Im going to call it!…. Goal from Owen to break level

Goal from Anderson to win it!… WEll ok Rooney!!

  37. sambios says:

    I am watching here

    http://iraqgoals.net/ch1.html

  38. trevor says:

i was watching on there but it was very jumpy

  39. sambios says:

we giving away the ball too many times

  40. Mahesh says:

How does are general play going forward look though guys? Can’t watch the game here. As long as we don’t look toothless going forward I’d give us a chance to get 2, even 3…

  41. mctavish says:

    shockingly bad

  42. Costas says:

From what i have seen, they give us space, but we don’t do anything with the ball. No imagination.

  43. trevor says:

I recon When fergie gets hold of them we will see a quicker tempo of passes in the second half!¬

Burnley will tire and in the last 20 minutes we will get 2 or 3!

  44. sambios says:

we’re limited on the center of the pitch.

  45. neejil says:

Attack not really getting the chances, Rooney keeps dropping deep and Owen seems off the pace

  46. trevor says:

    Costa

i agree although they are sitting back containing the play alot..I think we need to increase our passing tempo…

Seems to be a little slow at times..

  47. trevor says:

Owen had a chance… although it wont be long before he gets slated for missing!!

  48. Gotta hate tiny tears says:

    since united have scored
bunley working there bollox off but united are pressing
ronaldos name has been said 4 times
rooney is going to play a screamer or punch the ref
    he’s in that mood
corner came in at on point back post and evens attempted a header with as much power as emily could have put on it
    park doing well
giggs is doing a shit load
anderson is up for the fight
owen just missed a sitter of a header
you’ll never play for england shout
but 5′r on united win 2-4 at 50/1 in not too worried more excited at the chances of winning my bet

  49. Wayne Rooney's hair says:

lets make something very clear… Park is NOT united quality, he never has been

  50. wazza (Bezi) says:

WTF, not getting any links. it says limit reached :-(

  51. Curry_Power says:

How’s the midfield holding up? Carrick and Ando gettin any of the ball??? N what abt Rooney n Owen?? M not getting the match here, so guys pls update me about how we’re playing.

  52. cantona7 says:

guys what is happening why are we trailing?

damn my tv is showing CL qualification matches, i stayed up all night to watch the game!

they will show the delayed after the match! damn!

    ARGHHH

  53. Mahesh says:

Well, honestly, I looked at the line up tonight and thought, “hmm…well that doesn’t sound scary at all to me if I was in the opposition”…Apart from Wayne Rooney, not one player on that pitch can take the game by the scruff of the neck and turn it around. Even Rooney is someone we know can play that role, but seldom has. There are very few seasons where I have been able to say that a United team on paper does not look scary. This season is going to be seriously tough…

  54. neejil says:

@Ronney’s hair, Park is a very good player at what he does, he’s very under-rated by a large number of United fans mainly becuase he’s not an exciting player who runs at opponents, if he did what he does but as a DM he would be hailed for his performances

  55. sambios says:

i am not impressed though long way to go

  56. sambios says:

    penalty

  57. neejil says:

    PENALTY

  58. sambios says:

    we missed

  59. trevor says:

bloody evra tackled in the box and its frozen have we got a penalty??

  60. Costas says:

I also have the same problem with the streaming. The PL are tightning their grip on the internet channels.

  61. Tony Starks says:

O no where is ronny wen you need him (penalty I mean) wish Ando had taken it

  62. Gotta hate tiny tears says:

ITS JUST ONE OF THOSE DAYS
nothing wrong with carricks peono just a fantastic save

  63. Sketch says:

    OMG !!
    WTF CARRICK ?!

  64. trevor says:

    your fucking joking

  65. cantona7 says:

damn max streaming from my country wtf!!!

just got a glimpse before carrick line up for the peno, the stream went down, refreshed and saw burnley’s player congratulating their keeper. WTF!!!

  66. Costas says:

    Carrick lost a penalty?

  67. spenlunc says:

Any1 from India did know abt the channel telecasting the match?

  68. Tony Starks says:

I’m just listening on radio now cos the streams are too rubbish today

  69. jcolas says:

Can no one take a freebie anymore? :(

  70. sambios says:

    No effective Penalty taker

  71. Tony Starks says:

Yes Carrick missed the pen, or keeper saved it

  72. trevor says:

Why is rooney not hitting the penalties?

    Havent seen the penalty but,

Lampard, Gerrard … you would bet on them scoring!

I would have rooney step up…

  73. wazza (Bezi) says:

channels r fucked in India, lol
    ROM is the place
    come on ya boys

  74. spenlunc says:

    Fuck..Missed penalty

  75. cantona7 says:

I am hating this! What the f*ck is ESPN doing??? dammmnnnnn

  76. Gotta hate tiny tears says:

    http://iraqgoals.net/ch1.html
    ITS WORKING FANTASTIC
    ,
    NOTHIN WRONG WITH CARRICKS PENO
    WORLD CLASS SAVE

  77. Sketch says:

The Goal keeper just saved Carricks Penalty.
Wtf happened to us. Can no1 take penatlies in our team. Is at times like this you wish Ronaldo was still here.
We have to score. The defending leading to their goal was embarrassing. Carrick was ball watching.
Berba should come on for Owen.

  78. redmist says:

We look awful. Burnley are playing us a like a cheap harmanica.

Rooney or Owen should be takeing the pens. Or even little Ando.

    Come on lads.

  79. neejil says:

Can see Berba coming on at half time, either for Park or Giggs swith to 4-3-3 or off for Owen and keep it the same. Would imagine Valencia would come on at some point

  80. Wheres_my_bottle says:

No channel’s showing the match in India, FUCK espn :X

Was Carrick’s pen a bad one or was it a good save?? And who won us the penalty???

  81. jamie says:

Vidic & Rio are needed back quickly. Owen is awful, missing chances

  82. trevor says:

    Our display has been dissapointing..

To be honest it was these kind of games i most feared from pre season.

With 10 men behind the ball it is difficult but we have made things difficult for ourselves time and time again.

Along with the First half Pen miss, for me ROoney has been a little too deap at times. Our passing tempo is not quick enough. Rooney flopped a shot from the edge of the area not looking sharp, Owen had a chance and headed wide… We have had corners but have looked innefective when they have been put in.

For me The second half will be a totaly differnt affiar!… We will be passing quicker, Valencia and Berbatov will be intraduced.. I can see Park & Anderson coming off…Maybe scholes on for giggs if he is on the bench…

Scholes might just pick that killer pass,

    What do you lot think?

  83. spenlunc says:

Just now feeling the space left by Ron..

  84. Costas says:

I hope yours works GHTT. SO far i have had a nightmare with streaming sites and my provider prefers to show Levski Sofia.

Normally i would say one of those days, but we have 45 minutes to turn it around.

  85. Gotta hate tiny tears says:

    STOP
    ,
    SAYING
    ,
    RONALDO
    ,
FOR FUCK SAKE WHAT WAS EXPECTED AT THIS MATCH
A TEAM TO COME AT UNITED FULL ON
IM PISSED AT THE PISS POOR BELIEF ON HERE
    MISS RONALDO
    WHAT A LOAD
    CARRICK DID NOTHING WRONG
    UNITED ARE DOING ENOUGH
    JUST THE NEED A GAP
AND A TEAM LIKE BURNLEY WILL GET BOLLOXED
    ,
TORRES IS GUSHING BLOOD BY THE WAY

  86. trevor says:

The slating of owen has already started i see!…. You lot remember the fluffed shot by rooney from the edge of the box on his strong foot?…..Rooney isnt playing much better!

I cant wait till owen scores, he is i hope and i woud love it if he does… I would love it! Absoultly keven keegan love it! hahaha

  87. neejil says:

GHTT – Shhh if we keep the good stream secret it’ll stay secret

In other games Torres has bust his head open, blood everywhere…hehehe

  88. wazza (Bezi) says:

@GHTT : its not working fantastically in India, lol
btw, Scott must have gone to watch it.

  89. haruglory_911 says:

damn, everything seems wrong with our player today… nervous defenders, midfield cannot hold the ball, Rooney and Owen firing blanks… we don’t even have a friggin’ penalty taker? come on, someone have to practice on set pieces, why don’t Rooney? I hope it’s getting better in 2nd half, same 1st half display will guarantee a lose to BURNLEY!!!

  90. Park, Park, wherever you may be says:

Berba should have started! and Valencia!!
One of my pet hates with SAF is that he starts against the ’smaller clubs’ with obvious 1st teamers on the bench!!?? That just spurs them on and leaves us to try and build up a side during the game… hope it works this time.. (praying really!)

  91. Gotta hate tiny tears says:

    OWENS SHIT
    CARRICKS A WANKER
    I LOVE RONALDO
    UNITED TO FINISH 8TH
    W.T.F.

  92. Tony Starks says:

We need Scholesy on to pick out those passes through the packed defense for Owen (to probably miss!)

  93. neejil says:

@trev to be fair Owen’s two chances were a lot easier than Rooneys, 3yards out through his legs and 5 yard free header he didnt even touch, I do really hope he scores twice next half but he isnt having the best of games, a couple of passes he has been beaten too where he should of got there ahead of defender

  94. TheRadLegion says:

    Trevor:
I think United is playing quite lively in my opinion. Park’s passes could have been better. Carrick missed the PK and failed to close Blake, it’s not his day. COME ON OWEN-ROONEY!

  95. TheRadLegion says:

geeweez.. talking about a sad fans..

  96. neejil says:

RadLegion – wouldnt count it as a penalty miss, was just an excellent save

  97. cantona7 says:

guys please give me the updates ok..

i am feeling very miserable here….

    arghhhh

  98. Tony Starks says:

ghtt… chill man, whats wrong with saying Ronaldo? he’s a good guy (hehe) don’t worry guys it’s only H-T

  99. TheRadLegion says:

Up the tempo a few notches and we will win 3-1.

  100. wazza (Bezi) says:

@GHTT : can you do video conferencing of the match ? lol

  101. jespermoses says:

we should get Owen off and stick Berba on…..Cant believe hes sat on his arse on the bench and Owen is on….

  102. ChaosRed says:

    Average squad

  103. spenlunc says:

Whatever u say Ron is world class..

  104. theboogeyman says:

It’s ok,we’ve got time to come back.

  105. neejil says:

no ones doubting ronaldo’s class, but he’s not involved with this game so why mention him

  106. swissdevil says:

does anyone have any links other than the iraqgoals?
so frustrating not being able to watch it..

  107. neejil says:

    Scouse cunts 2 up

  108. Gotta hate tiny tears says:

UNITED WERE PRESSING THIS TEAM UNBELIVIBLE
IF UNITED WERE WINNING 1 NIL WITH THE GAME GOING THE SAME AS IT WAS IT WOULD BE VINTAGE UNITED
JUST WAIT FOR THE SECOND BLAH BLAH
BUT NO THE UNDER DOG SCORED
THERE KEEPER PULLED OFF AN AMAZING SAVE FOR A PENO IN A ROY OF THE ROVER THING
    AND NOW ITS
    WHERES RONALDO
SOME GLORY HUNTERS NEED TO CHECK THERE LOYALITY

  109. TheRadLegion says:

@jesper: maybe not.. we need someone agile and quick.. not Berba this time.

    @speniunc: “was” ?

    @theboogeyman: indeed.. indeed.

  110. wazza (Bezi) says:

@theboogeyman : what ya doing so late dude ? no school tomo ? schools holiday due to swine flu ?

  111. jespermoses says:

iraq goals is working for me

  112. cantona7 says:

we have another 45minutes to play so be positive guys! (lol its easy to say this when i’m not watching)

but just be positive! keep on cheering!

  113. trevor says:

Over the years there have been countless games like this.. It is a nightmare coming up against teams that are really up for it! For burnley this is their Fa Cup FInal! The highlight of their season!

All their players are giving 120%…. We have faced teams like this time and time again… What often happens is that in the last 20 minutes is where we get more chances…They become tired..> We get more space and they get more nervious!

We usually end up winning or at least a draw!…The fergie hair dryer at half time will rattle a few cages! I can gaurentee it!…

i really hope he keeps owen on!… Some forget to mention it was his pass that created the goal!

I know in honesty he maybe isnt having the best of matches, but im a bit defencive as so many united fans are on his back without giving him a chance!…

  114. Costas says:

Ron is the best player in the world. But saying we are missing him, is liking saying we are missing Messi. He is not here anymore and he can’t help. These players are all we’ve got so we can turn it around. Personally, i wouldn’t have rotated the whole midfield from Sunday.

  115. trevor says:

opss.. i didnt mean goal…. i ment penalty!
    lol….

  116. trevor says:

    I agree costas,

What people forget is that we have played games like this were ronnie didnt help either.. He had off games too…

WE just cant afford to slip points… grrrrrraghh

  117. trevor says:

any subs on i have missed the start?

  118. spenlunc says:

Definitely this is not enough to glorify..

  119. jespermoses says:

i hope your right about Owen ,Trevor….i still cant get my head around him being in a U nited shirt….its just not right!

  120. wazza (Bezi) says:

    trevor u scored a hat-trick, lol
i depend on ROM for updates

  121. neejil says:

    no subs

  122. cantona7 says:

    glory glory man united!

  123. Tony Starks says:

WHAT THE F IS WRONG WITH SAYING WE MISS RONALDO… WE DO!

(I defend the right of a fan to say that!!!!)

  124. jespermoses says:

great tackle by evra…i love him

  125. neejil says:

another excellent run from Evra, he’s been our 2nd best player tonight after giggsy, goes out for corner then foul against us

  126. theboogeyman says:

wazza:Yeah, they’ve given us off till monday.

  127. trevor says:

Tony, We all know we miss ronaldo… Whats the point in fans continualy saying it?

Would be nice if they moved on!!

  128. eric the red says:

This is a shocking performance from the reds, have we had a shot yet? For fucks sake show some desire!

  129. wazza (Bezi) says:

bring on Gibbo and De Laet.

  130. Tony Starks says:

    @trever

There is no point man of course, but it’s just inevitable when we are losing..

By the way I predict this game will be a draw.. I’ll take that given the situation we have.. Don’t worry – the wizard will make the right changes

  131. theboogeyman says:

Too many mosquitoes here.Hope the wi-fi reaches my bedroom.lol

  132. cantona7 says:

    bring on valencia!

guys pls give me another streaming that doesnt use justintv…

  133. eric the red says:

Burnley are making us look shit!

  134. eric the red says:

    myp2p.eu

  135. spenlunc says:

Well any update on Vida’s injury as well as future..Lot of gossips

  136. trevor says:

    @Tony Starks

Yeah i can see where they are coming from but they forget we had simular games even with ronaldo on the pitch!

Just watch in the last 20 mins!… there is goals!!!

  137. portugueseprincess says:

    Come on United!

  138. Wayne Rooney's hair says:

SOMEBODY TELL ME 1 POSITIVE THING PARK HAS DONE TONIGHT

  139. neejil says:

    Ando OFF
    Valencia ON

  140. neejil says:

Parks put in a few crosses and had a couple of shots blocked. and was a toe away from getting onto an excellent cross in the first half

  141. Costas says:

    Giggs again at central midfield?

  142. trevor says:

Valencia for anderson… My prediction has come true

    just watch…. Berbatov for Park.

    & Scholes for Giggs!

1 goal owen.. 1 goal berbatov!

  143. eric the red says:

Tell me 1 positive thing ANYBODY has done tonight, I believe we will score but this s bad man!

  144. theboogeyman says:

I hope there are, trevor,I hope there are.

  145. neejil says:

Valencia has looked very lively since coming on

  146. neejil says:

    Berba ON
    Owen OFF

  147. trevor says:

    owen off for berbatov!!

  148. portugueseprincess says:

Trevor, I truly hope your prediction comes true. Come on United!

  149. haruglory_911 says:

United need to prove that they are not a one man’s team…
We’re fine without Ronnie… prove it!!!

  150. jespermoses says:

thank fuck….owen is off……come on berba

  151. portugueseprincess says:

Looks like Owen won’t score a goal after all….

  152. trevor says:

    @eric the red

That bloke from Burnley scored a fucking cracker & that burnly keeper made a fantastic penalty save!

  153. Costas says:

    Come on Berba

  154. trevor says:

Just seen someone take the piss outa wes brown… oh if this keeps up fergie will have a heartattack

  155. Tony Starks says:

Come on United! How long is left people?

  156. Wakey says:

I know Rooney would prefer not playing there but I would have switched him to the left, and swapped Berba for Park. Park has been awful tonight

  157. Vass says:

    Park has been absolutely useless…

  158. spenlunc says:

    Still 1-0..Didn’t seems good

  159. trevor says:

shit.. rooney is off just seen him chasing after the ref for a penalty claim!!

    what happens.. the video freezes!

  160. eric the red says:

We don’t look fine at the moment, this is embarrassing, Burnley are by far the better team. Wayward passing, shit shooting, no desire, no passion!!!! I can’t believe this is Manchester United I’m watching, somebody pinch me I hope I’m dreaming!

  161. haruglory_911 says:

fuck, I never know that Burnley and Barcelona are equal…

  162. cantona7 says:

    hurm

    70m and still behind ?

  163. trevor says:

what happened?… we not even get a penalty? what the fuck!

  164. portugueseprincess says:

It ain’t over until its over. Come on United!

  165. Wakey says:

I know Rooney doesn’t like playing there but I would have put him on the left, left Owen and and brought Berba on for Park. Park has been awful tonight

  166. eric the red says:

    22 minutes

  167. Fze123 says:

valencia should’ve started from the beginning. that’s all i can say.

  168. jespermoses says:

its painful and ill take a draw now.

  169. haruglory_911 says:

everybody’s passing is terrible and we can even keep the ball for 5 seconds…

  170. Tony Starks says:

It seems this goalie is saving everything…

  171. trevor says:

who the fuck missed that.. clean clear?

  172. jespermoses says:

    giggsy…shouls have just smashed it…unlucky…..

  173. spenlunc says:

    United living dangerously..It appears though..

  174. trevor says:

yeah.. seen the replay… keeper did well

  175. jespermoses says:

    Macheda time!

  176. Costas says:

3rd consecutive game a ref fucks with us.

  177. Mahesh says:

I think the general concern here is not just about this match – it is about the entire season and frankly this is not a world class squad. We don’t have a chance in hell in Europe for sure, and we will have our task cut out even in the PL. I say this not for the sake of complaining but for pointing out that as other’s have said before (I remember Costas saying this), the Ronaldo money needs using. Sure the market sucks right now, but if we are so principled in the transfer market, then we need to be prepared for the consequences. I would love to be proven wrong, but right now I look down the squad list, and I see very few players who are genuinely world class. Rooney is one, Evra probably the other, and our CBs as well when fit. Worryingly, I cannot point to one player in midfield who is even close to world class. Giggs and Scholes too old, Carrick and Fletcher are good squad players and occassionally good but not backbone of team material. Ando and Nani too raw, too inconsistent. Park, a whole lot of effort, useful no doubt but never a sure start in a decent United squad. Valencia needs time, and is no doubt talented, but again has to prove himself world class. SAF I feel has missed a trick this season by not fixing the most obvious area that needed work, the middle of the park. We are definitely a poorer squad now than on the night of the Champions League final and frankly the gulf then was too obvious. In fact the gulf was obvious throught the knockout stages of the Champions League.

  178. trevor says:

we have 20 minutes to go… just wait and see lads!!! we have it in us.. we are knocking on the door and finding more space!

  179. cantona7 says:

ooh the great leader of man has come on!
    and thanks eric the red

  180. neejil says:

    @jesper
wouldb be difficult as hes not on the bench

  181. haruglory_911 says:

eagles will be laughing his shit out…

  182. Costas says:

We will talk about it after the whistle Mahesh. Not that i disagree with much of what you are saying.

Was Brown injured or anything? I would have prefered to see Scholes come one and help.

  183. haruglory_911 says:

costas, don’t blame the refs, we got a penalty…
and if you watching the game, you would know that we deserve to lose…
unless something happen in the next 10 minutes…

  184. eric the red says:

    no probs mate

  185. jespermoses says:

i thought Macheda would have been in the squad tonight

  186. trevor says:

    did brown come off?

  187. Costas says:

@haruglory_911 : Not blaming the ref for the result. But it is what has happened. Who says you can’t get two penalties in a game if you deserve them?

  188. cantona7 says:

valencia has to start every game pssible.
    rooney has to step up.
    that’s it

  189. eric the red says:

    this is getting worse!!!!

  190. Fze123 says:

so what if we lose. just calm down people, remember we always start the season badly. it’s only the second game of the season.

  191. schmikes1 says:

sorry but we are just not good enough. we cant even cut open burnley, and when we do get the chances we cant take them. its pathetic, sure burnley have worked their socks off, but its burnley for fuck sake…they have a championship squad! we need to invest the ronaldo money, end of. must find an attacking midfielder/forward who can open up defences, especially these championship-rate defences on drab midweek away nights. doesn’t matter if it costs £20m upwards, fergie must spend…i love our squad but if i’m being realistic we will struggle to win anything because the balance just isn’t right. give us david silva or alexis sanchez!

  192. spenlunc says:

    Lost

  193. Fze123 says:

although fergie must now realise that he has to start valencia for almost every game.

  194. Rollins says:

    We’ve been absolutely crap today.

  195. portugueseprincess says:

    I remember last season’s start…

  196. neejil says:

Jensen has kept them in this time and time again

  197. cantona7 says:

erm the goals just wouldnt come. we created a lot of opportunities but we dont finish them properly.

the saved penalty just put Jensen on fire.

Rooney has to step up and create somthing magical that Ronaldo did. If not, he doesnt deserve all the adulations.

  198. Devilton says:

Not good enough. Gutted, and I know people will say knee jerk reaction but this is fucking how a lot of games will go unless we spend to get some quality in.

  199. haruglory_911 says:

we’ve a great chance for a great start because consecutive match with newly promoted clubs… birmingham 1-0 and burnley also 1-0??? wtf?

  200. eric the red says:

it’s not over yet, 6 mins left

  201. trevor says:

rooney tackle did he get a card?

  202. schmikes1 says:

wish jensen would just fuck off, what is it with keepers always having the game of their lives against us…friedel, davis, now jensen

  203. trevor says:

I tell you what… it might be the result. or this bloody stream jumping about but i actualy feel fucking sick!

  204. eric the red says:

COME ON UNITED FOR FUCK’S SAKE THIS IS PATHETIC!

  205. portugueseprincess says:

    Ronney got a yellow card

  206. ChaosRed says:

I just wanna band fergies head against the wall and tell him to use the money.

  207. Rollins says:

Whenever I see park playing for united again, i’ll just expect nothing. If he does anything, i’ll take it as a bonus.

  208. TonyBee says:

Has SAF dropped a bollock with his team selection ?

  209. schmikes1 says:

4 mins added time…let’s do what we do best…PLLLEEEEEEEEEAAASE!!! would be ecstatic with a draw…unthinkable for it started

  210. cantona7 says:

rooney and co couldnt even score a single goal against burnley.

Ando was my favorite young player, but not anymore. I hope Da Silva twins dont follow his and become a flop.

  211. trevor says:

    @ChaosRed

Go on mate!… You must have super management credentials! A hidden gem of a manger

Go on,…Shock me with your wisdom

Who would you buy & for how much

And name me your best 11 with them in it and formation!!!

    Come on!

  212. Muggaz says:

ffs… Jensen has had an absolute blinder

  213. ChaosRed says:

No fear factor in this team, i dont think teams will have it hard against us…put 2 men on rooney and the team is toothless

  214. eric the red says:

The worst United performance I’ve seen for 25 years, we were a joke and got exactly what we deserved…FUCK ALL!

  215. Maik says:

We’re fucked… I haven’t been this pissed off with the players since the game against fullham

  216. daveob82 says:

    That was an absolute disgrace

  217. eric the red says:

    SHIT SHIT AND FUCKING SHIT!!

  218. schmikes1 says:

fuck off burnley, the pricks…we were shocking tonight, could see it coming all the way, we underestimated them and got punished. didn’t create enough, didn’t look dangerous enough, and iraqgoals is utter wank…goodnight

  219. RJ says:

What a fucking disgrace, that’s all I can say.

If we play like that all season, 4 in a row? Relegation more like it.

  220. portugueseprincess says:

I still belive in this team. Last year we started slow and things got better. I trust Sir Alex,he knows better than any of us.

  221. Muggaz says:

it’s been nice knowing you guys – time for the gin and razor blades.

  222. cantona7 says:

Come on it’s just a match. Just the second match of the season. I know its pathetic, but come on. We dun have to be panic.

SAF always learn from this kind of mistakes.

    hurm Liverpool is leading 3 – 0

Real Madrid won 5 – 0 but Ronnie did not score. lol. Kaka took their penalty.

  223. hurr says:

FUCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK!! What was that shit play? Losing to FUCKING Burnley? How many shot was on goal? One by Park? What a crock of shit?!!

  224. reddevil710 says:

I think we need someone who can actually hit the target. We had 19 shots and only 4 on goal. Doesn’t make any sense that Rooney will get 25 goals and only hit the target once a game.

  225. edwin says:

Well, there’s our early season bad performance card out of the way……….

  226. eric the red says:

we know shit when we see it princess!

  227. haruglory_911 says:

seriously we deserved it… so now, Rooney has to step up or Sir Alex will need to sign somebody who can change the game…

  228. Fze123 says:

agree with trevor, who ever’s saying fergies got to spend the money is a complete idiot. there’s no one availble, prices too high, get that into your head.

very poor performance tonight. the team that started wasn’t good enough, i think if valencia started it could’ve been diferent, he could’ve put in lots of crosses.

  229. spenlunc says:

Please don’t speak abt last season..This season is shit and the players are shit..Totally all are dumbasses..

  230. trevor says:

Fair play to burnley.. They worked fucking hard for this!

Defended like lions, scored a remarkable goal.

We just failed to break them down with all players behind the ball…

We were ineffective in so many areas.

Scholes and Fletcher Controled the game on Sunday..

Carrick / Giggs & Anderson failed..

On sunday Nani showed pace and went by players… he was missed

    Park was innefective tonight.

Owen and rooney both didnt set the pitch alight.

Not too many pluses from this game tonight.. Maybe will be a massive kick up the arse and will hopefully drive the players on ……. Maybe it is the best wake up call they could ever have had!

  231. portugueseprincess says:

Don’t understand why are people pushing the panic botton.

  232. TonyBee says:

Trevor …you and i have disagreed ove rOwen signing for us …… do you still feel he is worth all the praise being heaped on him. Admittedly it was apiss poor performance by quite a few of our lot not singleling anyone out but the defence was awful as was Carrick…… What the fuck was he doing taking a penalty.???

  233. 20legend99 says:

Pathetic, gutless performance from us tonight. Park was absolute rubbish, and I think Carrick fucked up his pen on purpose to spite Fergie. Defense looked atrocious and Foster looked scared shitless.

I know we have a habit of starting slow, but I can’t recall a display this frighteningly poor. I could point out how shit every player in a United shirt was but I’d just get more pissed than I already am. I’ll just try to put this out of my mind until the weekend.

  234. bytor13 says:

If the dippers would have put in a performance like that, we would be laughing our asses off! Can’t tell you how dejected I am after watching that match. Giggs was our best player by far. Valencia has NO LEFT FOOT! All credit to Burnley and their fans. They did exactly what they wanted. Good defending and decent pressure on Utd’s back four.

  235. RJ says:

I actually don’t know what to feel at the moment.

    I mean Burnley lads?

  236. Devilton says:

    Well done Burnley.

Deserved your win. We fucking wasted our chances and quite frankly don’t look like champions at the moment. Now if you’ll excuse me I’m going out to kick a homeless person in the head.

    FUCK!!!!

  237. Fze123 says:

thank you portugueseprincess. at least someone is thinking like me. we started the season badly time and time again.

  238. TonyBee says:

    Thouight Giggs was okay though

  239. El matador says:

That was poor, we never created much chances and failed to finish the ones we did.Why the hell did we look so lazy?

  240. Howie says:

Shouldn’t have taken off Owen, 3 upfront would have been better … we were shit anyway .. well deserved lost.

Carrick is rubbish, Anderson is rubbish. Midfield is totally lost, Rooney didn’t perform either. Overall concentration is poor.

I hope SAF can slap some sense into those players.

  241. eric the red says:

Nobody’s panicing we’re just stating the obvious…THAT WHAT A DISGRACE!!!

  242. IcelandicDevil says:

That was a fucking disgrace!!! Worst performance since Fulham, this pitiful performance has put me on lifetilt….. I know Fergie knows best, but wouldn’t Berbatov have been a more logical choice than Owen against a team that was always going to put 11 men behind the ball???

  243. TheRadLegion says:

Even though we lost, this is can only be good for us in the long term. At least this exposed our need for a good midfielder.

    @daveob82
I don’t think performance wise they were a disgrace. They played quite decent, Jensen managed to keep the score 1-0, we had quite a few chances but couldn’t score any.

I would rather we lost now but bounce back immediately then later. Looking forward to Wigan match. It’s time to bounce back.

  244. fUnKy AlLiGuNkY says:

total BULLSHIT!!! NO FUCKING GUTS NO FUCKING FIGHT

  245. eric the red says:

    Giggs was OK at best

  246. Gary says:

Proof if we didn’t already need it, that Fergie shouldn’t have been a stubborn man during the summer and splashed the cash to reinforce our front line. We have managed minimal chances and 1 goal against Birmingham and Burnley.

The midfield looked weak straight away, another thing I stressed on here about. Giggs in centre midfielder and Anderson on the left wing? Anderson is a centre midfielder and that’s it, he is wasted on the left, and it’s even more mind boggoling when we have a natural winger like Valencia on the bench?

John O’Shit starting as captain on Sunday!? That sent a shudder down my spine! He is truly awful, and that decision alone prooved to me that Fergie is going a bit soft. O’Shea is not good enough for United, simple as that.

Fergie speaks of value for money. Well 32 million on Berbatov who has been a laughing stock, and we lose out a much younger and more exciting Benzema because hes not worth 35 million??? Well you figure that one out!

  247. ChaosRed says:

Plainfully obvious we are going to struggle in the league. there are players like van der vaart, who are much better set pieces. as to park?? WTF i stuck up for him and i know we need grafters but there is no reason why we cant buy a grafter with skill. The squad is dead and flat and quite average right now. Who is to blame for this performance? are we to believe burnley have better footballers than United? Our first “11″ if we have one, is weaker than top 4, we have a big squad thats good. but its a big squad of average me thinks.

  248. TheRadLegion says:

    @IcelandicDevil:
How could you say worse than Fulham? Fulham was a disgrace, this one was not. We played quite decent. Blame it on Jensen, he was the one who kept the score 1-0.

On Fulham game, we couldn’t even make a string of passes.

  249. hurr says:

Why didn’t Anderson take the peno? Park couldn’t hold the ball, Valencia was crap, Rooney can’t shot on target to save his life. This is worse than the last game.

  250. Newton Heath says:

    For fuck sake fergie!!!
    Now will you buy….

  251. eric the red says:

Who in their right mind thinks that losing will be good for us! This is Manchester United for fucks sake and we don’t accept failure. A wake up call is BULLSHIT, we lost and were made to look less than average by a no-mark team, we showed no desire or passion and were an embarrassment to the badge!

  252. TonyBee says:

the back fours, especially the middle two in the first half, passing was dire throughout ….. we kept on trying to many flicks and fancy shit … by not putting out our strongest team we might have put Burnleys Backs up and made them play better.

  253. cantona7 says:

yeah i agree its either Rooney to step up, or we have to buy Ribery. When was the last time Rooney scored a goal out of nothing? Letting him play on left for too long has blunted his fang, he needs time to rediscover that magical genius in him.

From what i watched, we worked hard but today is Jensen’s day.

  254. schmikes1 says:

@fze123, get out of ferguson’s arse! yes, he’s the best manager in the game but he doesn’t always get it right…none of our midfielders can change a game consistently. carrick can thread a killer pass, as can scholes etc etc. valencia can run at people, as can nani etc. park works hard etc. but none of them can create a shockwave regularly, like ronaldo could. obviously we can’t just draft in another ronaldo, but wheres the harm in signing someone who can play just behind the strikers and link up with them. david silva (£20-30m) can play left, right or centre…play him in attacking midfield, let him run at defences and he will unlock them…

  255. IcelandicDevil says:

Oh, and if I have to watch Park pollute the starting XI on a regular basis i may very well lose my mind….. what a waste of space…. oh and before everyone starts saying I am overreacting, I’m not, he’s shit and I have always felt he wasn’t good enough to play for United…..

  256. Nectarine says:

Giggs, who is 36 in November, was our best player and the one who worked the hardest. That sounds a bit wrong to me.Where were the others?

We’re also completely ineffective in front of goal, like much of last season. We shouldn’t be losing to newly promoted teams even if we are slow starters. We can’t afford that.

I’m not panicking and have total faith in Fergie, but this reminded me of the 03-06 years and losing against the likes of Norwich. Just a bad day all round.

  257. TheRadLegion says:

    @Gary
I think Sir Alex would prefer to spend the money next year when market isn’t effected by “Real Madrid’s impact”. We could buy a few great players with that money which is good for a long term. We could buy Ribery or Silva or Aguerro, but only one player that’s it.

  258. Ulster Red says:

fucking shite, 11 players plus subs who looked average..keep this up and we will win fuck all this year…unbelievable..

  259. TonyBee says:

Spot on Eric the Red…. we were fucking shit and any one who says it is good for us needs their fucking head looking at

  260. trevor says:

    @spenlunc

LOL… one bad game didnt loose a premiership title!

One win doesnt win the premiership!

One bad performance doesnt make a good player bad!!!

The start of this season was always going to be difficult, with the change of personel.. Change of Tactics and add to that the injury problems we have had

VDS – Brown (not match fit), Evans Struggleig – Vidic Out – Rio Out – Rafael Out

Come on…. although im disapointed i can see why they struggled……

It happens,,, we alway bounce back and to be honest have the best manager in the premiership history!…

We have won the premiership 3 seasons running….We will run close this season and i really hope things start to click quickly!!!

  261. MUFC the Religion says:

1 point better off than last year, WHEN we win at the weekend it will be a great start by UTD standards.

Fuck off slating UTD and Sir Alex. We have no defence at the moment and without Rio and Vida we can’t expect UTD to play the usual fast paced game because we will be punished on the break.

I’m glad we got this fixture out the way. Away to Burnley was always going to be hard, just because we are better than them don’t mean we will win these games. UTD always do this. It makes the winning even more enjoyable.

  262. Newton Heath says:

This will only be good if it convinces fergie we need to sign some quality to replace what we lost.
We need a left winger with decent creativity desperately.
Keep saying it, but David silva would be such a great signing…
Come on fergie, sign him up!

  263. Mezza says:

The amount of tools on this blog is quite astounding …. no wonder ppl like my self take a back sit here, otherwise ill would have a fair few enemys on here…

I dont think it was a such tragic performance by United as some of the dirty arabs here think, in my opinion the side lacked in creativity big time and Burnley had a cracker of a game, well deserved win for them.

Oh and some of the tools seem to forget that this was only the 2nd game of the season… jeez :\

  264. cantona7 says:

    lol.

That was a loss that i would be proud of. Burnley parked their bus in front of the goal, and Jensen had a match of his life.

We worked hard. I am proud of that. We conceded just 1 goal from a brilliant strike.

  265. CURTIS says:

    oh my fuck!!
that was shocking we were useless tonight, i honestly can’t think of any match winners in our team anymore apart from wazza who blows hot and cold too often.
carrick was pathetic as was owen and park
i can see a long hard season for us with performances like this…
i know its early but anymore below par performances and i say throw on in the kids and let them swim cause nobody jumps off our page and scares opponents anymore

say what you want guys but we will be missing ronaldo and tevez them 2 strike fear into an opposition and cause nerves something berbs and owen won’t do…
guess the roller coaster we on has began
but fuck it i’m gonna ride it out till the end
    UNITED TILL I DIE

  266. Costas says:

I have been one of those that thought we should spend on an attacking player who could add another dimension to our play. It never happened. The truth is that this United side will always struggle without both Rio and Vidic. I know that out attacking play was not good, but with one of those two in there at least the other teams won’t have a go at us like Burnley did for a while. I thinkt that the plan is to build on clean sheets and turn 0-0 into 1-0.

  267. Gary says:

ChaosRed: You hit the nail on the head right there. We have a big squad of average players. Vidic, Rio, Evra, and Rooney are United’s only players who you could label world class.

I said it on here before, Ronaldo is a bigger loss to this team than Cantona, Keane, or Beckham was to their respective United sides at the time. Don’t underestimate the loss of Tevez either, despite our personal feelings towards him now. How I would have loved to have had Tevez available for that game tonight.

  268. Fze123 says:

    schmikes1,

you just said it. he doesn’t always get it right. tonight he didn’t pick the best team. but that doesn’t mean that you and others say we need new players, we gotta spend the money. hello, no one’s available, david silva at 20-30m is too high.

  269. daveob82 says:

Lets call a spade a spade RadLegion… aside from Giggsy there was NO passion shown tonight…..that to me is a disgrace for any player in a red jersey
Wes Brown was schocking, Carrick was anonymous, Park was just very very poor, Ando is showing “2nd season syndrom” AGAIN. Patrice did well except for that one stupid mistake that cost the game.
I think Wazza is trying too hard to fill teh Ronaldo gap….. wild efforts from 30 yards… which went nowhere
To be fair to Foster he didn’t really put a foot wrong all game. No keeper would have saved that strike.
Berbatov and Valencia made a HUGE difference when they came on.

  270. IcelandicDevil says:

@TheRadLegion I didn’t say worse than Fulham, I said worst since, and no we didn’t play decent, we hardly created any real chances and our play was slow and without purpose, absolutely gutless performance…… we really don’t look to convincing for the start of the season, but then again we normally don’t start well so I’m not panicking, just angry at this pitiful excuse for a performance

  271. doncobaino says:

all day i knew it- all day i was saying to myself we are going to lose, just one of those freaky things with football….

and it happened… they even had a penalty, united are awful, on sunday they were average at best. midfield is terrible. when was the last time united really played well? half an hour against spurs….

  272. Sketch says:

I dont understand why Owen is starting for united. He should only come off the bench against weak oppositions at OT. Berbatov should of started alongside Rooney. Carrick was utter garbage. Giggs missed a bloody one on one. Anderson, he is just not improving. I find it odd how people always seem to critises Nani when its Anderson who should be given the cold shoulder. He cant pass, shoot or dribble anymore. Atleast with nani you are bound to see his pace and trickery used as an advantage he may over do it at times but its there and not forget the one odd amazing goals. Parklooked tired and he has possibly the worst first touch that i have seen. Rooney kept on collecting the ball from the midfield because he is getting no serves what does that say about our midfield when our striker keeps coming down?
We under-estimated Burnley. We deserved what we got.
Wigan next? I hope Fergie fields a strong team.

  273. Kevin says:

Worried, not panicking, simple worried. Tough game considering the chances we had and the fact we just didn’t click. Rooney didn’t listen to Phelan and was not in the right position at the end of that game far too often. I do think we need to buy another option up front or trust Owen and not take him off so early. I am upset but improvement needs to come fast.

Agree Nectarine about Giggs and the other players. We need someone to score goals and finish chances. We just do not have it right now.

  274. Ooh Aah Cantona... says:

Utterly disappointing….Only player who deserves to wear united shirt today was Giggsy, and maybe even Evra. But…I keep my faith on SAF like I always do. To be honest, if we keep playing like this, we should forget about any silverware. Come on fergie, this performance even worse against Barcelona. And again, I stick with my opinion, Carrick is not a world class player and he never will be.

  275. TheRadLegion says:

I mean come on you guys.
IT WAS NOT A BAD PERFORMANCE AT ALL.
We could string passes, keep the pressure but alas Jensen kept the score 1-0. That’s about it.

Granted we could do a lot better with the finishing but that was not a bad performance at all. I’m gutted, but as I said again at least this would expose our need for a solid midfield.

PLUS: We have no defence. Evans is still understudy. We will bounce back this saturday, but you trolls keep your head cool.

  276. Newton Heath says:

David silva would be a bargain at 25m

  277. Gary says:

mufcthereligion: Fergie is not beyond criticism. He is of course the greatest figure in the clubs history along with Sir Matt, but football is a harsh business and like it or not Fergie has made mistakes this summer over his own stubborness!

We have no real balance to our midfield, and no goal scorers either. It’s a recipe for disaster selling Ronaldo and Tevez and not replacing them.

  278. ChaosRed says:

And to be honest, I would rather Fergie paying silly money for players then to click on skysport in may to see fucking LIVERPOOL or chelsea winning it. so fergie do what you have to do for the 19th please

  279. Asshat says:

in valencia, ferguson has unearthed the new nani.

    quite incredible!

  280. schmikes1 says:

i agree with you Gary…for all his whining, moaning and diving, cristiano ronaldo wouldn’t have been on the losing side tonight. but what do we expect when we sell the best player in the world. our squad is good, but too many players are average and predictable. i disagree with people slating carrick, park, o’shea etc because more often than not we more than rely on these lads. long live the memory of cristiano ronaldo, in my opinion, from 05-06 until he left, the best player we’ve ever had

  281. trevor says:

    @Asshat

I really hope valencia is better than nani!! and at least more consistant!

  282. cantona7 says:

yeah we were without BOTH rio and vida tonight. and we lost JUST 1-0. And that goal was a bit magical too. i dun know why we have to be angry. disappointed, yes. but i am proud of that.

  283. Gary says:

I have never heard such rubbish! David Silva is too expensive at 25-30 million? That is the value for the world top young talent and especially for a club like us, we won’t get top players any cheaper than that, it’s always been the same story.

He wouldn’t want to sign for United anyway. Them spaniards are not too keen on England, apart from Liverpool for obvious reasons with their Spanish connections.

  284. devilista says:

I know it’s only August, but …. shite.

No creativity whatsover – the midfield’s full of holes. NO service. No enforcer – BUY SAF BUY. Please.

And when Rooney receives no service, he runs around trying to fix everything on his own, gets frustrated, and puts in wretched challenges – he’s lucky he wasn’t sent off. :-(

Giggsy tried, God love ‘im. Pat too.

Valencia should’ve started. Perhaps Berba, as well.

Hate to whinge but – oh Rio… oh, Vida… oh, Edwin….

Lots and lots of work to be done.

    Shite.

  285. Ulster Red says:

    theradlegion
    bollocks

  286. GreenRed says:

@portugueseprincess – bang on the money mate.

  287. trevor says:

    @ChaosRed

Come on fella… Pick your player and price you would pay and name your starting formation…..

If we continue like this it will be a building year…. We had it 4 years ago where we didnt win it…

No team has won 4 english titles on the trot…. If ronaldo had of stayed i think we would have been certain…

Hes gone…. The markets sky high..

If we dont win the league this year it wont be the end of the world!.

  288. Kevin says:

Sketch – I don’t think starting Owen is a bad move but we need a goal scorer to finish chances when the game is on the line. With that said we needed to bring him on a the end of the game. Fergie gave some players a chance who should have performed. He went with Owen at the start thinking we will get up and I can bring him off. That did not happen and when we needed a scrappy goal scorer to come on we did not have one. We had Berba. I am sure Fergie would go back and fix it but come on be realistic. Hindsight is 20/20.

I agree about Anderson and Park however and think your spot on about who deserved to win. We obvioulsy over estimated our players level at the moment and paid the price.

  289. Chris Ant says:

Where the fuck was Darren Fletcher? He should never have been left out. Was he injured or summit? Carrick and anderson are too much a like. It should be either or, along side fletcher. we deserved to lose, never looked like scoring. Well played Burnley, you deserved it. I knew when the team was aknownced that we would struggle. Our midfield worries me.

  290. truereddevil says:

Rooney is class, but he needs to stop shooting from 25 yards ! ! !

    Owen was embarassing tonight!

Shocking result ! ! ! I hate to say it – and trust me I really do cos I was happy he went (due to his bickering) – we look like we’re missing Ronaldo . . .

Defence was shocking too – need Vida back, Brown back on the right wing – and we should be ok, hope we smash wigan, we’ll need the confidence going into arsenal game

  291. schmikes1 says:

fze123, silva for £20m+ is not too high…he is a class player who brings something extra. for english defences he would be an unknown quantity, not so much as ronaldo when he joined, but could scare the life out of teams. he was insane at euro 2008, could cut in from the right and shoot on his stronger left foot, posed a problem just behind the front two and linked up excellently with villa and torres. if not valencia, than what are our scouts up too?? surely they watch enough games to unearth a superb young forward/attacking mid at a lesser price?? maybe ljajic will be our man, but at 17, unless he really is the new kaka, he is just too young and inexperienced

  292. truereddevil says:

oh – and Fergie really should let Ando play as an attacking midfielder – thats his talents, I feel he is being held back a lil

  293. Austingunner says:

    AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

You blokes just made my day…..THANKS

  294. trevor says:

    Lads

My reasons for not wining tonight

    Wonder goal from Burnley

Fantastic Performance from Burnley.. Special mention to their keeper!

We are still learning our new formation (its differnt from last year and we are trying to adapt)

Too Many Injuries – VDS – RIO – Vidic – rafel

    Brown is not match fit

    Evans just fit or 90%

An unfarmiluar back four of evra, brown oshea and evans

The performance tonight once burnly scored was a little like watching a team play aginst 10 men..> It becomes difficult, they put everything behind the ball and sit really deep….

We should have the quality to break them down, we just didnt have the sharpness tonight.

We have games like this every season, and every season the doom and gloom comes out.

We have the best manager in the premiership who is not perfect and if he chooses not to buy anyone then so be it… i honestly dont think its needed… What we need is Rio & Ferdinand back…

The distrubution of Evans & Oshea is not as good as rio & vidic…….. Also vidic is a threat from corners!

  295. trevor says:

    @Austingunner

    Fuck off you trophyless cunt!

  296. Fze123 says:

one bad game and every one’s slating the players. just have faith in fergie, this game has told him a few things about team selection. berbatov and valencia definitly should both start at the week end.

giggs and evra were the best players tonight, others had a bad game, jensen was brilliant,we don’t need to buy any one, we have enough quality in our squad.

only one thing though, we’re just missing hargreaves more than ever.

  297. Xyth says:

With displays like this, we can kiss our title goodbye now!!!!!!!!

  298. ChaosRed says:

And it was a poor/bad performance, we cant score against newly premoted teams, while arsenal are knock 6 past teams nearlly in top 4…Last year for the majority United played average and still won by that odd goal from tevez berba and ronaldo…This season we are starting off worse, last season draw newcastle at home, you could see the fight in the players. This year will be the same i think, a whole season of poor performances.

  299. Ulster Red says:

well see 29th ya gooner cunt

  300. trevor says:

    @Austingunner

Do you remember the men against babies match last season?

We are still laughing at that piss poor performance!

  301. Chris Ant says:

Anderson gets played at the wrong times and in the wrong system. If he had played second half against birmingham, he would have ripped them to shreds, but instead he left scholesy on all game. He did well first half but was tired second half, so anderson should have come on then.
Anderson should play with fletcher, not carrick, theyre too alike.

  302. eric the red says:

    @Austingunner

FUCK YOU ARSEHOLE, IT’S A GOOD SEASON FOR YOU NOW WE’VE LOST HEY. DICK HEAD!

  303. trevor says:

    newly promoted teams?

Stoke Beat a few last season 1-0

Where the newly promoted teams suffer is against the Mid table and lower end teams…

They are all up for the Big matches.. Specialy at the start of the season

You think i am wrong!… You watch burnleys next match!… If they are playing a mid table team like blackburn, west ham, sunderland or wigan etc.. I bet they dont put in the same effort!

It happens, it happens regularly!…. Actualy it happens every season!….

  304. Ulster Red says:

wat was giggs doing wen through on goal..should of hit it first fucking time…FUCK!

  305. Costas says:

@Trevor: exactly. I think it’s a combination of a lot of things. Greece won Euro 04 for the same reason. Sometimes it happens. Whaw=t we have to do, is get the injured players back soon and maybe settled down to a regular midfield quartet. Becks,Keane,Scholes and Giggs played years together before they started working like a well oiled machine. AT least Fergie should try to play 3 midfielders every week and change the fourth one.

  306. Sketch says:

Whilst i disagree with those who claim that carrick is shit ect.i do think that Carrick was shit TODAY. But isnt he always this ineffective when united arent winning? We need someone in midfield who can turn the game and inspire the team. Van der vaart atm would cost peanuts. Why not give his agent a call?
Park is not an option on the left. He has a horrible touch, cant cross, and cant out pace full backs. So why still play him on the wing? He should play more central? Dont know really were JUST ANYWHERE BUT THE WING.
Anderson needs to improve A LOT.
Our defence is worrying. We have our first choice centre backs out. So we would struggle more than we might have before.
I am not angry because we lost to burnely. its the way we lost that pisses me off most. No player on the pitch seemed bothered. They need a wake up call. We are the only top 4 team not on the top half of the table.

Why is it that we ALWAYS struggle at the beginning of the seasons?
And ask yourselves this question when was the last time we tore a part the opponent? Chelsea at ot last year?

  307. Chris Ant says:

Your dead right, knew this would be hard game, don’t think we took it seriously enough, with the team we put out. they will against blackburn tho, they fuckin hate them.

  308. Jack says:

some people need to calm down, look at how many players we had missing tonight even though we should of still won i wouldnt say we was awful far from it, we was abit in the first half but we had all the posseions and corners but we just didnt score, they did park the bus abit in the 2nd half aswell and their keeper was man of the match says it all.

  309. chrispus says:

I guess this is the part where one is seen as crazy to back United for the treble, or better still, the quadruple!

  310. Corea says:

    I am speechless.
The worst EVER game against the side from a village.
I didn’t want us to equalize after the 90th minute.
    BELIEVE.

  311. Anon says:

Umm… i remember anelka scored against us at the Rbk stadium once. we won a few things that season…..

  312. bytor13 says:

We shouldn’t overreact, but we need to get things right soon. I’m not so sure we can pick it up mid-season like we’re used to doing. Losing v. Burnley are the kind of results that kept the dippers from winning last season.

  313. ChaosRed says:

@trevor What good will it do for me to buy players with imaginary money and to add them into the united team…Fergie has real money and he still has the likes of Park in the team, I’ve tolerated liked him but, he needs to go.
I know its only week 2. But we Have to win these games like last year to wi the title, because i can see this team losing alot against teams that park the bus. Come the end of the season And if we have won nothing I will look to this GAME where things should have been changed.

  314. Mopbucket says:

disappointed and a bit shocked… but do believe that only good can come out of this… Silva, Di Rossi, Villa… you can name who you would like to come into the team but the rest of them need heart and the courage to grab the game by the balls and finish it.. like i said only good can come out of this hopefully its the kick in the ass that they needed… who would of you liked them to play like that against?? the dippers?? the gooners?? fair play to burnley id like united to lose to them and play like that against them any day over them other two teams i said!!! UNITED FOREVER!!!!!!!

  315. Corea says:

The first pen wasn’t a pen. We didn’t deserve it and Burnley player got out of the way. Forget it.

  316. ChaosRed says:

@trevor What good will it do for me to buy players with imaginary money and to add them into the united team…Fergie has real money and he still has the likes of Park in the team, I’ve tolerated liked him but, he needs to go.
I know its only week 2. But we Have to win these games like last year to win the title. I can see this team losing alot against teams that park the bus. Come the end of the season And if we have won nothing I will look to this GAME where things should have been changed. And its not like they fully defended we got beat at football.

  317. Fze123 says:

    Gary and schmikes1

i think we would all love it if david silva was bought. probably wouldn’t even want to ditch spain and move to utd. even if he did, he isn’t proven in the premier league. so i guess paying 20-30 million is too much, also for a 23 year old.

it’s not going to happen, so what’s the point of even mentioning it.

  318. Corea says:

I hope some of our players didn’t go home with some millions in their pockets.
    GoodNight.

  319. TheRadLegion says:

    @Ulster:
Me bollocks? Yea right, now go away you friggin troll.

  320. schmikes1 says:

to all those, who don’t think fergie should spend on one or two players who should slot straight into the first team (eg. not obertan or mame diouf), at a cost of £20-50 odd million, here is why i reckon SAF should invest:

we have lost the best player in the world. he can’t be replaced directly, i know that. therefore, we have brought in two main players – valencia and owen. while both have the ability to change a game, at the moment, they are unable to do it on a consistent basis. owen needs confidence and full fitness, and valencia must overcome adaptation and heavy weight of expectation placed on his shoulders. by moving rooney central and just expecting (because that’s all it is) berbatov to improve, we’re not necessarily going to mirror ronaldo’s goal tallys. therefore, we need goals from elsewhere. it’s likely that rio and vida might pop up from time to time but the best you can expect from a CB in 5 a season.
regarding our midfield, where are the goals there?? unless anderson is allowed to reinvent himself and revert to his previous position as a creative attacking mid, who runs at defences centrally, we have fuck all hope. giggsy, as class as he is, will offer 5 goals max. scholesy again is utter quality, but in years gone by…we simply can’t rely on him. carrick, park, nani, valencia, tosic, fletcher etc are not goalscorers, they are grafters and creators.
where are the goals?? and don’t say welbeck and macheda because as talented as they are, they need to be eased in.

therefore, splash out on silva/sneijder/van der vaart, even bloody robben because as much of a cheating shit he is, he can unlock defences at will.

  321. Costas says:

I remember a weakened United side losing 3-1 at Villa in 95. We had lost 3 top class players and we were without Cole,Giggs and Cantona. WHat did we do that season? Lets wait where the team is in December before jumping to conclusions.

  322. ChaosRed says:

@Trevor i dont like the excuse of teams play like an FA cup final when play us bullshit….

Its simple we give them a match too…u saying fergie cant motivate the team??

And people saying about the injuries is a total copout!!! Our reserve team on paper will do them, so until the injuries happen till we actually have less then 10 men on the field with the whole squad out, then we can use injuries as an excuse.

  323. NewtonHeath says:

    Fze123

I think Silva would be perfect. and players like torres, vidic and evra were unproven in the premiership before being signed.
I also would kind of hope that when he played for valencia against us in the friendly a couple of weeks ago – that seeing 71000 people turning up for a friendly and mexican waving constantly for 10 minutes might be the sort of thing that would convince him what a great club United is.

For me, the point is, last year we had 3 game changing players who could pop up when we needed a goal. Now we only have Rooney. and thats not enough for a team hoping to win the premiership. Liverpool have 2 or 3, Chelsea have 2 or 3 and Aresnal have 2 or 3.

i think Ashley Young wouldnt be a bad shout either- but i’d love Silva…..

  324. Jorgen says:

This is actually the worst performance I have EVER seen from a United side… I am shocked and quite possibly this will force SAF’s hand in the transfermarket.

  325. NewtonHeath says:

Schmikes – you’re absolutely spot on mate!!!

  326. trevor says:

    @ChaosRed
    Its not bullshit it happens!

Teams from lower down the leauge always fucking raise their game against us!

They dont play to the same level every week. It was a fact

I did say we should have won..

Games like this happen every year!

I am quite a realistic, and in the real world these things happen! In the real world you dont win every game, sometimes your players dont click, or dont come out of the traps…. Sometimes they have an off night.

Tonight we experienced one of them nights.

What we dont need is a knee jurk reaction..> Fergie needs his head banged..> Fergie has to buy someone qucik… Why the fuck is owen on the picth… Owens shite… Parks shite… Giggs is too old… Valencia should have started… Rooney needs to step up… and last but not least… WE MISS RONALDO>

  327. gunners88 says:

i know this may seem intruding and it aint my f*cking business to be here as an arsenal fan but i was blog hoping and saw the comment by austingunner. and i just wanted to say how embarrass i am by his comment. I didnt want to leave a comment but it just grates me personally that some gunners are taking pleasure of manutd losing on a manutd’s blog. pathetic! That’s what spurs fans do whenever arsenal loose a game but now some gunners are doing it themselves. anyway, my point is not every arsenal fan is quite as pathetic and cocky

  328. ChaosRed says:

Teams dont have the worry of 2 players causing havok, we have special player in rooney to get the goals, stick 2 players on him and we have a fight. We need someone to step up and be a threat. Who will take that opportunity? i cant see anyone myself, unless we pay silly money.

  329. Kris82pl says:

Believe!! what can i say after game against Burnley? We have not a leader, no one who make our offenisve. 29 we play against Arsenal. I hope Fegie sign Young or someone else, becouse our attack is weak.

  330. Fze123 says:

    @ NewtonHeath

David silva doesn’t need to see 71 000 people turning up for a friendly and mexican waving constantly for 10 minutes to convince him what a great club United is. it’s a known fact. this wouldn’t be the reason for him not wanting to come, it’s england as a whole. and not all unproven players who sign outside the premiership shine like vidic, evra and torres did. i could name you a long list of them players.

@ trevor, spot on, as always.

  331. ChaosRed says:

@Trevor your inadvertently blaming fergies management skills for the loss, u cannot use the excuse of other players playing really hard against us, You are saying fergie can’t motivate our team.
If we can play like a cup final would the result have changed?

  332. Infectioner says:

    [jorgen]

i can name a few games which we are worse than that…

and lads, we are just two games into the season. don’t pass early judgment to a team in transition

  333. schmikes1 says:

i wouldn’t say that wanting to bring in a creative/goalscoring midfielder is a knee jerk reaction to this game. even if fergie brought someone in for £20m, thats a mere quarter of the ronaldo money! to be honest, i thought we looked fairly flat last season and relied far too much on ronaldo. we grafted like fuck last year, ground out so many single-goal wins, and barely played to our best at all. i hate to say it but we won the league because our defence was ridiculously good, not because we were decent up top. we relied on the failings of others, such as liverpool’s draws and a clanger of a season from chelsea. liverpool top scored and looked far more dangerous going forward last season – i regularly watch their games, in the hope that i will see them get beat, but everytime they went forward they looked dangerous, due to the annoyingly fantastic link up of torres and gerrard, supported by alonso and kuyt.
im not bumming off the bin dipping c**nts by any means but we need that added spark, that man who alongside rooney, can take us into top gear. and as for this chat of ‘oh don’t worry, we always start badly, it’ll pick up as the season goes on’ – that is the most spineless excuse of all…this is Manchester United, we do not accept defeat! just because we couldn’t break down reading, then pompey, then city in 07/08 and started averagely at best in 08/09, it doesn’t make it ok that we’ve started this season at a snail’s pace, turning in two piss poor performances!

  334. Tony Starks says:

People should actually reflect on the game and what happened before putting comments about it. Yes it was 1-0 to Burnley and we should give them (especially their keeper) a lot of credit for that victory.

To be honest I don’t feel much different from last year about matches like this. In these games you need luck or little moments of magic. Sadly today we missed a Pen and their keeper made some great saves (plus they scored a wonder goal).. Otherwise this game was not much different to, say Stoke away, Wigan away etc from last year.

  335. Newton Heath says:

    Fze123
I guess my point is, I don’t think think we have enough going forwards.
I don’t think the argument that he’s unproven in the premiership stands up as you’ve you take that risk with any player you sign.
Even proven premiership players have flopped when they go to one of the big 4. So it’s the risk you take.
I think you could be right about him not fancying England.
But he hasn’t come out and said that like villa has
And it may be a known fact that united are a great club, but as we’ve seen players from that part of the world don’t think of us like they think of Madrid. But the way the crowd was for a friendly might be the sort of thing that would show a player what we are like.

For me, we need one more world class player. Silva would be perfect. And I’d at least like to see a bid made before dismissing him.
And like I say, if not him then someone like Ashley young, who us proven in the premiership, might not be a bad alternative…

  336. ChaosRed says:

    schmikes1 I agree totally,
I dont like it when we lose, And we should not be losing at the start of the season. We are making things difficult for us in someways. We are far to predictable right now, Anyone could name the team and formation for the next game, but its not just that, we are easily stopped.
Tactics, players, I believe its not enough, everyone around us are improving. There is no point in banging on about our youngsters will push for the first team when they will hardly make a difference being inexperienced. Nani Anderson have been in first squad for 2 years, they have high potential and are good footballers, what are we gonna do wait another 2,3,4, Years for the players to develope against reseve teams? I say put the stutterers to the bench now and use the youth.
And i’m talking to park carrick scholes gary.

  337. yaimam says:

giggs, Gary,Park, owen,Brown, are all fucking up in todays game this is shit give tosic a chance and also kiko on the bench gibson also they are more determine cos they need to prove something

  338. manutdchampions2008 says:

Well people do not come up with names that really are not going to come. I said all last season the balance in attack is horrible. I looked at the team I am sorry the wide players are awful, park I have said this time and time again is not good enough for united, giggs no longer puts the fear of god into teams. I look at owen and he is just past it, Anderson and Carrick are not a right balance when none of them can tackle or take hold of games. People also need to realise stop saying replace paul scholes they are not out there simple has that. it’s in the front four where its average, park giggs owen are not going to win you games and Rooney can’t do it all on his own. It’s not just the CM it’s our front four who 3 of the 4 are not up to speed. You don’t lose ronaldo and decide not to invest in the squad. And why was Valencia dropped also he is supposed to be our big signing and he is on the bench strange. also why was berbatov dropped to the bench also.

  339. fze123 says:

    ChaosRed,
everyone is improving…! who exactly do you mean by that?

although i do agree, we don’t use the youngsters enough. i don’t know why, but i think playing with 3/4 strikers up front might bring goals. don’t see how it can work with the formation though.

  340. gerrydaly4 says:

some weird comments on here tonight. Let’s keep some perspective – we haven’t gone from being Champions ( and one of the top two teams in Europe) to being shite in one game.

Yes there were some players not at their best but carrick is class, Giggs is still class, Anderson will become class.
I do think it was weird to completely change the midfield from Sunday – not sure how players build momentum and link up when you do that?

I’m not a big Owen fan – I like our forwards to add something other than being a poacher and it is a bit worrying to look at what options we’ve got for goals.

Ultimately though, Sir Alex knows this business better than anyone, keep the faith!

  341. Costas says:

Lets just hope that Vidic can get fit for the Wigan game. We are talking about transfers, but i think that only me and 20legend have questioned what the hell is going on with the medical stuff. We have ended up like West Ham did last year. In every game we have about 10 players missing out.

  342. Dazjoe says:

To say I’m pissed off is an under statement. Fergie, what the fuck was the team selection all about? Games like this need 1 thing to break their 10 man defence down, WIDTH! So what do you do? Start with Anderson out wide, why not just stick fucking Carrick out there? And on the other side, Park! Are you fucking kidding me!? Park has his fans, and I can see why, but his 1 and only attribute is hard work. That’s good against the top sides who are going to come at us and have as much of the ball as we do, but against the likes of Burnley we need Nani, or Valencia. Players with speed and skill. Players who can attack and get past their man. When has Park ever beaten a man, with skill or speed? How many goals and assists does he have over the years? If we stuck him on the market tomorrow who’d come in for him? Chelsea? Inter? No! The likes of Everton, or Stoke! Under the word ‘limited’ in the dictionary there should just be a picture of his face, every one would then fully understand the meaning of the word!
What excuse is there for leaving Valencia on the bench? Tiredness? After ONE FUCKING GAME?!
I’m still optimistic about this season, we’ve started the last 2 just the same with shitty draws against Pompey, Reading, and Newcastle and defeats to City and Liverpool, but the lack of ideas tonight was astounding. Of course we created some chances, but nowhere near enough.
I might feel different tomorrow and just be venting my anger tonight, but I’m really pissed off. Fergie better be putting a rocket up their arse’s tonight and tomorrow in training, and should make at least 4 or 5 changes for the weekend. Those cunts tonight have to know you CANNOT perform like that for Manchester United and keep your place in the team. Giggs, Park, and Owen, at least, should all be left out the squad, bring Valencia, Macheda, and Nani back in. Fabio should be back at right back, at least he’s quick and likes to attack.

  343. schmikes1 says:

jonathan pearce just said on motd “you need 5 or 6 players scoring 10 goals each at least to win a tile” – obviously his word is by no means gospel, but does anyone think we have the potential for that in our squad!? – not a chance!

  344. manutdchampions2008 says:

Costas its just unlucky really with the fitness. but I have said this the team needs rebuilding, dnt go over board and try to get a creative CM its on the wide areas and the striker department where united really need to buy. I have said this we lack a powerful CM, united need a world class striker to go alongside rooney and a world class wide player.

  345. Costas says:

@schmikes1: We haven’t had that in a long time.

  346. manutdchampions2008 says:

schmikes1 we dont. I was hammered on here by many united fans that I was not convinced by our midfield and attack. oh I am not a united fan total rubbish by them, the team is weak propably uniteds weakest team since the 03/04 squad. park carrick united should have cashed in on them. anderson does not convince me, scholes and giggs is close to the end, valencia tosic nani berbatov owen I am not convinced they have enough in the locker in a 50 game season.

  347. Costas says:

The injury situation is unlucky when you get different players getting injured. At United, it’s the same playes all the time: Rio, Wes, Nev, Evans and sometimes Vidic. There was a time when Parker, Bruce, Pallister and Irwin would play together every single game and never get injured.

  348. Dazjoe says:

    Schmikes1
Last season we only had 3 players who scored 10 or more goals in the league, and still won it. Johnathon Green is a scouse cunt who has noticed 1 flaw in our team and so wants to exploit it. Which other side has 5 or 6 players who’ll score 10 or more?
Chelsea? Drogba, Anelka, Lampard, that’s about it.
Liverpool? Torres, Gerrard, maybe Kuyt, that’s about it.
Arsenal? Van Persie, Eduardo, maybe Arshavin, or Vela if given a run.
We still have 3 players who’ll score 10 or more this season, just as many as our rivals.

  349. manutdchampions2008 says:

Costas so did brown ferdinand and vidic play every week. look at parker he lasted 2 and half seasons and then he picked up loads of injurys and he then faded away. giggs used to get injured a lot in his early years, now the irony is he picks up less injurys at an older age then when he did in his early 20s.

  350. trevor says:

    @ChaosRed

Im not blaming fergies management skills.. your missing the points or maybe you dont agree with them…

I am a realist, things like this happen from time to time, it was my opnion as to the reasons it was dificult for us and to find some sort of reason to why we lost… We cant win every game, we cant win the league every year.

Sometimes these things happen, and when it does happen there is contributing factors to why we lost… Maybe formation, Maybe mistake, Bad Reffering Decision, Tactics not effective, team not fully motivated.

There is a saying that you can take a horse to water but you cant make him drink… I am sure fergie did everything right preparation wise and it is a wake up call for the players after this performance!

    In my opinion

if we had rio & vidic fit….. Brown Match fit it would have been a differnt story…

United often start the season slow, for some reason i dont know. Fergie doesnt know, it has baffled him for years! He is used to it!

Anyway we are not going to agree and both are entitled to their opinion!

We will leave it at that!

  351. manutdchampions2008 says:

    Dazjoe
I do not see united scoring more goals with this lot. chelsea and arsenal have a greater goal threat than united.
uniteds main goal scorers rooney berbatov valencia nani
I do not see many goals from this lot I would add owen and that does not change. valencia nani are too one dimensional and are not top draw players, berbatov lacks drive and a real goal threat and he is not much of an impact player, and rooney is about has good has scholes in his prime about 20 goals a season not a 30 goals a season.

  352. schmikes1 says:

dazjoe, i agree, but we haven’t needed that amount of regular scorers over the past couple of years due to ronaldo’s brilliance. others in the top 4 are far more likely to get the main bulk of their goals from a contingent of 4 or 5 because they are used to it, whereas as costas says, its been a while since we’ve shared the goals around. in years gone by, you would get atleast 10 each from ole, yorkie, andy cole and teddy, not to mention giggsy, becks and scholes weighing in with high single figure tallies. we just haven’t got that potential at the moment

  353. trevor says:

    @manutdchampions2008

With regards to giggs and injury record, you often find that players who play with quick pace and acceleration & change of movement often struggle with hamstrings & mussle pulls from time to time.

Giggs doesnt play at the same pace and has changed his game a little! He also has improved his pre match routine & works on his troublesome areas more..

  354. hustler says:

    manutdchampions2008-

I can see where you’re coming from and I completely agree. Rooney is the fulcrum of our attack. Unfortunately, this is not really saying much. As much as I love Rooney, I feel that his constant years of playing out on the wide have made him regress in terms of progress. His long shots never go in anymore, his technique and ball control have gotten worse, and he never takes those “fuck you” random shots anymore (e.g. goal against newcastle couple years back) that are just simply unstoppable. He thinks things too much. That being said, he has many moments of brilliance.

Apart from Rooney, I am dismayed by our squad. Last year, I don’t know how many times I felt that watching the reserves play was much easier on the eye and better than watching the first teamers. Anderson is not fabregas or gerrard or kaka or lampard. I can’t quite see what he’s exactly supposed to bring to our team, considering he’s not successful as a combative midfielder anymore. Carrick might occasionally put in a good ball against the lesser teams but he rarely pulls the strings in major games. Plus he tackles like a downright nancy. No steel, no potency, very little skill in midfield makes it completely useless to have the possession we always get. I’d rather have possession for 30% and make penetrating plays throughout instead of having possession for 60% and doing diddly squat. And Berbatov- well, you know how I feel about him. owen is past his best and it does look like the pressure of getting into the england squad is making him worse.

The least we can do if we’re not winning is to play beautiful football. Last season, we were playing ugly and still winning. This season, we’re just ugly.

  355. Costas says:

@manutdchampions2008: I think Wes has had only one almost injury free season. The one you are talking about alongside Rio and Vidic. At least Evra is healthy as a horse. The problem i have is that you always build from the back. It has been evident since last year that Fergie is going to depend on our defence more than our attack. He will look for the 1-0s. Well we can’t do that if we can’t have a solid back 5. I hope that once they all get back that they will stay injury free for a long time.

  356. hustler says:

and before anyone comments on how this match is just the beginning or “how can you know how we’re playing this season right now”, i obviously realize it is exaggerated. Still, I feel that we will not demonstrate much progress. For the past year, we’ve been playing pretty badly and getting away with it. A little injection of fresh, creative talent would do well to change things, of course!

  357. Tony Starks says:

I think this is kind of a transition season for us, I think we will still do well because the competition is not too strong, I’m quite interested to see how things develop. We are used to too much success that’s why defeats are very hard to take. One thing I am quite sure about is that I don’t see us scoring too many this year.

  358. Macedonia_United says:

We need to play good against wigan, we cannot aford anything else but 3 points, because it is arsenal that are coming next at OT.About signing new players: i personaly would like us to sign Douglas Costa, he is young and talented same as ronaldo was when he came at OT.For midfield i would like if we can sign Luka Modric. That guy is world class ,but he wouldnt be cheap. It is best we leave it to Fegrie,he knows better than us…Cheerrss

  359. RedHarry4Life says:

What a complete and utter F**k up that was. BURNLEY I mean what the F********************* were they playing at.
Wes Brown was pure crap tonight. Maybe the injuries have caught up with him.

Owen? He looks so nervous. If it had been Kiko or Wellbeck missing those chances then their time would be up. Looks like a bust.

Berba unfortunately I think is also a Bust and it is now looking like we have Rooney and Rooney and Rooney as our only good striker. What does dismay me is that Giggs at 138 yrs old is looking one of our top players again tonight.

Lets make no bones about it tonight’s game was a giveme 3 points. The scum, Chelski and the Arsholes will all go there and get a easy 3 points. If we can’t beat Burnley with the team we had tonight what f***********king chance have we got in the EPL and CL? We were also very poor against Birmingham on Sunday. Wigan must be rubbing their hands about playing us on Saturday

  360. Macedonia_United says:

i think we missed fletcher yet again

  361. Dazjoe says:

    hustler
I think your being a bit unfair on Rooney, he’s clearly a better player now than he was, the fact that he has been playing out wide so much and yet has still scored more in the last couple of season’s than he did when we first bought him and played him through the middle.
    ManUtdchampions2008
You say Valencia and Nani are not top drawer players, again I have to disagree. Personally I struggle to think of a better winger in the league than either of those 2, perhaps Young. Our 3 rivals don’t have 1 better. Kuyt, Riera, Babel, Malouda, J.Cole, Zhirkov(needs to be watched to see if he’s any good), Walcott(can be outstanding in 1 game out of every 10), Arshavin is class but hardly a classic wide man, Nasri isn’t a winger either, and he isn’t that good to boot, and Rosicky. The teams battling for 5th don’t either, except perhaps Young as I say, Arteta, Lennon, SWP, Bentley.
Nani is just hugely inconsistent, if, and I realize it’s a big IF, he can maintain a solid level of performance than he could be a great assist for us, and I think he’s capable of scoring 10+ this season. Valencia is also very exciting, Wenger called him one the best wingers in the league last season. We just don’t have a goal threat from the centre of the pitch anymore. Carrick, Giggs, Scholes, Anderson, Fletcher, Gibson, Hargreaves(yeah right!), possibly even O’Shea, all together will get 10 goals, whereas we used to have 1, Scholes, who’d do that on his own.

  362. RedHarry4Life says:

I always though that foreign players were supposed to have so much better technique than British players. Just watched Park couldn’t trap a bag of cement. Ball bounced off him about 15 yards.

O’shea and Brwons pasing was so poor hit more burnley players than United ones

  363. manutdchampions2008 says:

Rooney is fine but he needs help but it’s the other areas I have said this Carrick berbatov park anderson we should have sold. The ROM site and Scott in particular have been so pro berbatov its not even funny, but to give berbatov the benefit of the doubt you can’t blame him tonight. But can anyone see a man of the match performances from nani berbatov valencia anderson park owen carrick tosic, there is not enough goals in this team. I can see united scoring about 49 to 52 goals this season or even less. Maybe 47. I will repeat this you cannot expect to do great things when you let go of tevez and sold our most threatening attacker

  364. bigphil2003 says:

Couple of things I’d like to point out:
    1. To anyone saying “Why was Carrick taking a penaltywhen Owen/Rooney were on the pitch?” – Owen has never been good at penalties – not to mention his confidence is low, and Rooney’s never been one to step up quickly to the spot. Carrick’s previous penalty record for United was something like 5/5

    2. Admittedly this is an AWFUL result, but it wasn’t a truly awful performance, we created chances and unfortunately didn’t take them. Great performance from their keeper, but we created enough chances to win.

    3. I’m confused by Berbatov, Valencia and Fletcher being dropped – obviously I’m not a manager and Fergie knows a fair bit more than I do, but if we don’t have our full strength defence available then surely you’d want the best attacking players you have? Berbatov has looked good in the last two games and should have been given a good run to get his confidence up. If we were still losing, Michael Owen would have been a great substitute to bring on when the opposition got tired late on.

    4. “WE NEED TO BUY SOMEONE”. Who? How do you replace Ronaldo? You don’t. I would have loved us to sign Benzema, but after that there aren’t many viable options for United that will really come in and make a big difference.

On a final note, we have 1 more point than we did this time last year, no need for knee jerk reactions.

  365. manutdchampions2008 says:

    bigphil2003
well I have not had a knee jerk reaction I have been having major problesm with the team for a good while.

  366. ILamb22 says:

Yeah, but seriously… Lay off Berbatov. Our attack pre and post Berbatov was night and day. As soon as he came on the pitch our attack was composed and creating far more dangerous chances. This match is one of the most blatant displays of his importance in the final third. Bad result yes, but pointing fingers at the guy who came on for 20 minutes and damn near turned it around is ludicrous.

  367. manutdchampions2008 says:

the question should be asked why has fergie rested all our most creative players thats a question that should be asked.

I think the answer is simply a bit of over confidence on the gaffer’s part. Earlier this week he was talking about how Coyle should be given a break. He obviously wasn’t expecting such a hostile atmosphere and such a scrappy match from these up and comers (who have proven they can deal with “loftier” sides).

Nobody came prepared for the task at hand today. I think that we have one or two of these results every season. Let’s just be glad that it came this early in the season.

Leaving out Berbatov, Valenica, Fletcher (wasn’t LEFT out, I guess, but still was missing)… Might have been in hindsight, a mistake. But Fergie learns from mistakes.

Fletcher, I feel was out best player last match, and I think once again we sorely missed our Scotsman. As long as Hargo’s nursing and Anderson continues to baffle, Fletcher is our most reliable and consistent midfielder.

United is a team that doesn’t take losing lightly. We’ll bounce back. This side still has a lot more talent than most of Europe. The question is finding out how to harness and expel it. We obviously have the greatest football mind in the world in charge of figuring out that puzzle, so let’s give it more than two matches before doom and gloom set in. I can’t remember the last time we didn’t have a lackluster start to the campaign.

In the past three years United have been the best at ONE thing, and that’s winning football matches. Even though the passing, shooting, and dribbling haven’t always been top of the pile. Nobody can deny United’s winning spirit. Absent in Rome. Absent today, but never absent long.

    good morning mate.

    heres my view of yesterday.

We cant look back at what we did in the past seasons and hope we will do the same again.had we lost playing well i would not have bothered much just like we lost to shitty in 2007.but this performance was devoid of any spark or inspiration.players trying to shoot every time they are outside the box, defence aimlessly launching longballs when we dont have any ariel presence in the box.ryan giggs corners being crap.wayne rooney going missing as usual when the team needs him and not getting a deserved red.anderson failing again(getting used to it now).

if we play like this next Sunday the gooners will kick our arse upside down.they are the form team.wigan away looks a daunting game now.Burnley was the easiest game away from home we will get all season.

Stevie me grinning after the result was announced at anfield and worst of all MAN SHITTY BEATING A BARCA TEAM WID MESSI AND IBRAHIMOVIC.

i m fortunate though i dont have any much dippers or rentboys friends to contend with unlike you.most of my friends are United fans.i m getting scared of Saturday nw.Wigan are a good passing side.

  377. wazza (Bezi) says:

i agree with most of the fans over here regarding our squad. it has got many average players and obviously missing another attacking world class star. if Ron was in Spurs, he would even make Spurs look like title contenders. we are looking at a very long season ahead. but Fergie needs to stop tinkering with his players for the league matches. for starters we need a settled midfield.

  378. Dakota says:

    @aig

true mate. Wigan are going to come out all guns blazing..taking confidence from our defeat..and i think they even lost to wolves..so the pressure is on us..we just need two or three players to stand up and get counted..this will probably spur on the other players and we can get going..crucial game on saturday..

  379. KVN says:

Having gone to Wembley and watched United play then seeing them against Birmingham City, from my observations it’s quite clear we haven’t sorted our central midfield out. without a strong, creative and energetic midfield we will always be soft. and if you loose themiddle of the park you’ll loose the game or won’t win it.
SAF needs to decide what his core midfield will be and stick to it. only making minor changes based on opponents, injuries and suspension and form. but in general tonight’s game along with sunday’s game against Brum shows me that we’ve got no spark. no purpose to our play. it’s all pedestrian and somewhat predictable. the only person who i can now count on doing a good job is Fletcher. Carrick blows hot and cold, and doesn’t assert himself on games as his talents suggest. Anderson, needs to play in CM and given license to attack and support the forwards more. if at times he needs to target certain players ala Cesc or Gerrad etc then that’s the exception.
Scholes and Giggs – brilliant servants to the club, but this has GOT to be their last season! Especially Scholes. he really slows the game down and looses the ball far too often. his tackling is getting worse and he doesn’t score that many goals. at least Giggs is still contributing something to the team.
United always and I mean always get a result like last night. Anyone remember Wolverhampton when they beat us 1-0 about 3 seasons ago? or our loss to Bolton last season at their ground?

I really think we should have gone for Defoe (look at him now!) he’s the type of goalscorer we needed. as good as Owen is, he’s on the way DOWN. Look at the chance he had against Brum? one-on-one with the goalkeeper and misses the opportunity, but only a few minutes b4 he takes the ball around the keeper and scores! even though he was offside. last night, he really didn’t do much. he’s not dangerous anymore in the way Defoe is.

so the bottom line is SAF has a lot of work to do. for me Only Evra and Fletcher and Rooney have shown anything expected of a United player.
the rest have been average or worse rubbish.

  380. denton davey says:

I’m still disappointed in the way SAF is getting his forwards to play – Rooney is not spending his time in the opposition penalty box but foraging for the ball waaaay back in midfield; same goes for Berbatov. At least LittleMikey plays as a central “forward” and he got two excellent chances from leading the line.

Lots of you have been very complimentary to Evra, who had a good game even if it was his wayward header that set up Robbie Blake’s volley, but for me the best UTD player was once again old, old Ryan Giggs. The only blemish on his performance was his unnecessary, additional touch on the terrific through=ball from Rooney.

I’d disagree with KVN about Scholes’ play – while he does slow play down and is a weak shadow of his former self, he doesn’t often get caught in possession. But no one in his right mind can defend the GingerNinja’s defending – it’s not getting any better.

Anderson was lousy last night; Carrick was his usual passive self; and ThreeLungPark was just diabolical on the ball. How can Park be such a dominant attacking midfielder for his national team and offer nothing but energy for UTD ?

About the forwards – it’s now got to be KikoTime. The 4-4-2 has to be scrapped and some version of a 4-3-3 or 4-5-1 needs to be tried out.

It’s really apparent that for all his bleating about “playing his best position”, Wayne Rooney doesn’t actually play a position ! He’s a terrific footballer but incredibly undisciplined.

In this post-CR era, Wayne’s going to have to become a better team-player and do the job he has been given of playing centrally AND forward.

Berbatov is like the old Churchillian pearl about Russia – “a riddle wrapped in mystery, inside an enigma”.

Otherwise, it’s early days and like the statistics Scott presented make clear, it’s not as if this kind of stuttering start hasn’t been commonplace.

TheLads stumbled out of the gate last year, too.

The RentBoyz have looked awesome against Sunderland on Tuesday – but they looked awesome against Portsmouth early last year, too.

TheArse have looked really well-coached and ready-for-prime-time but they did last year, too.

LiverPoo have looked inconsistent – and they were last year, too.
