The last five seconds in the Allianz were the worst in our season so far. Not only did we concede a last minute goal, which turned a great away score draw in to a less favourable 2-1 defeat, but our most important player, Wayne Rooney, landed awkwardly on his ankle and had to be helped off the pitch. Was that our season over? At the time, maybe it felt like that.
We haven’t had a lot to cheer us up since then either, with an incompetent linesman gifting Chelsea the three points and us slipping to second in the league with five games to play.
Tonight our lads have the opportunity to give us something to smile about again and I am confident they will do it.
In the first leg, Bayern Munich had 60% possession, 10 shots on target to our 4, 7 blocked shots to our 2 and 85% passing success to our 74%. They were at home, they were playing well, we were playing badly, but they left with just a one goal advantage as well as conceding an away goal. So, even when Bayern are playing well and at home, and we’re playing badly, they struggle to assert their dominance over us. So if we can put on a half decent performance, concentrate defensively for every second until the final whistle then we should be alright. Right?
Nani has provided the assist for the past two goals we’ve scored and has to be in the starting line-up, with Antonio Valencia down the other wing. The central midfield area is a bit hazy though. Darren Fletcher has to start but he looked exhausted at the weekend. Michael Carrick’s poor performances resulted in him not even getting a minute against Chelsea, whilst Paul Scholes’ passing was erratic. So who does Ferguson go with? I’d pick Carrick and Fletcher, with the former at least being well rested and in need of proving himself. Park Ji-Sung will probably be fancied over Ryan Giggs thanks to the goals he’s scored in big games over the past few weeks.
Up front, it will Dimitar Berbatov up front, and in desperate need of proving a point. He’s scored 3 goals in the past 4 games but he really is due a big goal. Aside from a couple headed efforts, he didn’t get a sniff against Chelsea, but then, nobody did really. Federico Macheda will be an option on the bench and should be brought on with plenty of time if things aren’t going our way.
However, the manager has been very coy where Wayne Rooney is concerned, with him struggling to rule him out entirely for tonight. Having Rooney as an option on the bench would add to Bayern’s nerves, with them proving to be fairly obsessed with him over the past few weeks, and obviously would be the best kind of substitution any team could hope for. Is it worth the risk of aggravating his injury? We’ll have to trust the manager to make that shout.
Defensively, it will be our usual five, with the manager confident that Gary Neville can keep up with Franck Ribery.Patrice Evra will be wanting to make amends for his costly dithering in the first leg and will have the challenge to keep Arjen Robben quiet. The Dutchman didn’t even have a place on the bench at the weekend, when Bayern Munich beat Schalke 2-1, so we should hope and expect he won’t be at his best.
Bayern Munich went down to ten men with almost an hour still to play at the weekend, so hopefully that will have a knock on effect for them tonight, after travelling over from Germany yesterday, as Schalke are currently the second best side in the Bundesliga, therefore no push overs.
That, combined with a new and determined attitude from our players, as well as the roar from the crowd, should be enough to see us through tonight. Inter Milan and Barcelona have already booked their place to meet in the semi-final, whilst Lyon travel to Bordeaux with a 3-1 advantage.
If you’re going to Old Trafford tonight, take your flags, scarves and loudest singing voices, and let’s hope we can be talking about a trip to France before the day is out.

Man Utd News 24/7

B E L I E V E!!!!
Brilliant Summary as per normal, just gets the heart pulsing even more ahhhhhhhThe Twelfth man.The OT RoooooooooooaaaaaaaaaaaaaR
Over to you Berba.
Tonight is the night, once and for all, that you prove you are a Manchester United player.
You were bought to score the BIG goals not to score lots of little ones or be top of the assists stats or anything else.
£35million was paid so that on a night like tonight when our season maybe depends on it, you step up to the plate and bang in the goals that take us to the semis.
Come on Berba we are all behind you and we know you really want to.
Prove to us all that you can.
COME ON THE REDS AND GREEN AND GOLDS !
‘apart from a few headers he didn’t get a sniff’
So a ‘sniff’ doesn’t involve an unmarked volley from inside the box. Strange.
Shit yeah… BELIEVE
I’m nervous already, i’ll probably pass out at 7:45 :-S
We can do it!
We should be good to go. No need to panic, remember what happened last season when we lost to Liverfool and Fulham, 2 games in a row and we were written, off… i think we had Totenham and check the come back we had… 5 – 3.
obviously i would settle for Bayern not even scoring but i think the boys will be charged up to kill this game nice and proper. All we need is the Half the spirit we had against that game against Roma.
just take your flags and singing voices
Regarding Berbatov, my stance is the same as it was pre-Chelsea. No matter what he does today, the overall picture won’t change. Wayne will be missed one way or the other. We just have to make sure that the rest give it their all to beat Bayern.
@Chucky – Red
It was Villa @ Home and the Macheda show…Either way, great memories
@Edge
Damn right, those of you going need to make that place a cauldren, even if Bayern score first.
Hey lads, anyone know the starting line up?! I’m always a bit scared when we play 4-5-1.. i’d rather go with loads of pressure, two strikers and so on..
anything heard bout Hargo????
hi lads is it me who saw that bayerns defence is so weak i feel they will loose by a big margin tonight,i jst hope the REDS turn up in style.
well said scott, macheda will put on a hell of a performance if he comes on and hes a year younger than me. plus hes hard and will have a real go at their centre halves
should be possible i guess,an early goal would play in our hands but football has no real rules just trust in our lads they will deliver
I usually don’t wear my shirts to games but since I know I won’t be heading out after the game tonight I’ll make an exception! Red Scarf or G & G? I am getting proper excited!
Speaking of the incompetent linesman:
http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2010/apr/07/mike-dean-demotion-alex-ferguson
Edge – the scarfs too mate, don’t know how much you’ve been this year but I haven’t missed a home game, the Green and Gold has enhanced the atmoshpere, the pictures of the thousands of G + G scarfs being waved are immense. Voices and flags, but definitely scarfs!
I think Sir Alex has something up his sleeve. I think he may go with Rafael on this one, Nev looked exhausted on Sat and Malouda gave him a bit of a run around! Also there is the option of going 442 with Kiko on from the start. We shall see. Can’t wait to see Super John involved tonight, my how we have missed him!
Thanks for the reminder/correction GTull… good memories all round.
Man am already charged for this game am going to buy new United Shirt. Pity am not in UK would have ordered one from Scot “I want curly hair too…” For now i’ll stick to the official ones available in South Africa. Anyone coming for the world cup?
No thanks: a 4-5-1 deployment whose inherent negativity doesn’t ask any questions of the opposition and yet still fails to stop us from being overrun in midfield (see last 2 games)
No thanks: Dad’s Army
Yes please: Da Silva, Nani, Macheda
Yes please: Giving it a go
Scott: “Up front, it will Dimitar Berbatov up front, and in desperate need of proving a point. He’s scored 3 goals in the past 4 games but he really is due a big goal.”
More to the point, Dimitar Berbatov has not scored in either of the last two games which have been the really big games – as opposed to Bolton in which he had a tap-in and a side-footed re-direct from Nani’s cross. This selective use of statistics is what confirms the scepticism among the “BerbaSceptics”. This statement is an example of Disraeli’s famous quote – “Lies, damned lies, and statistics”. Really, Scott, you can do better than this.
Attack Attack Attack
If we don’t we are doomed.
Denton Davey – I don’t understand what you’re getting at. What part of me saying “he is due a BIG goal” lead you to believe I was trying to con people in to not seeing he hasn’t scored in our past two BIG games?
He’s scored 3 goals in 4 games, which is great, but it is a goal in a big game we need from him.
So obsessed are you becoming with slagging Berbatov off that you argue against me even when we’re making the same point.
Roll on bandwagon, roll on…
denton – I really enjoy your posts mate but this Berba bitching IS getting a bit much, Scott is right. With all due respect you were championing Kenwyne Jones a while back and we all know how he has turned out.
BELIEVE CMmonnnn… We must attack in numbers…..
My stomach is churning like hell and I haven’t slept well for three days……
Guys…..I really prefer winning the 19th to winning the champions league anyway…..
If anyone thinks the above statement is just a way to prepare myself for dissapointment today, then they are right …
But to tell you the truth, my blood pressure has been bordering on the dangerous for the past three days and aches all over my body….can hardly sleep…its been fucking hell….
And thats how it is for every time United lose a game…..
I shout and cry my heart out to sleep usually………alcohol doesn’t help…just makes things worse..
My family barely dares to talk to me or even ask me for dinner….they just look at me with scary eyes as one looks at a potential suicidal patient…..colleagues at work dont talk to me unless they absolutely have to….
I’m not saying that is the way for a grown up to behave….but that is just the way I am…..United wins are like my blood-life…..with every defeat abit of it drains away until replenished by a victory in the next game…..
The reason why i got attracted to this site was i could see United fans with a similar passion…and all the positivity from people like King Eric really makes life worth living after a loss or even a draw….
We need to stay positive and get behind the lads…..
Everybody’s entitled to thier opinion on here…and I respect that fact (though ocassionally i may lose the plot..!!) but the fact is sometimes seeing the negativity towards the team makes me just wanna kill myself…..really….its that HOPE, that we can turn it around and win the next game is what keeps me going….being positive gives you that hope……
GET STUCK IN LADS and GET STUCK IN FANS…..We need you all tonite…
Scott: “Aside from a couple headed efforts, he didn’t get a sniff against Chelsea,”
Do you not remembre that Berba had the best opportunity to score our second goal only to half volley it straight at Cech from 8 yards out??!!!
I would prefer a 4 4 2 formation tonight but i dont think fergie would start with macheda.i think we will again see the same 4 5 1 formation with berba as the lone striker.
VDS
rafael vidic rio evra
valencia carrick park fletcher nani
BERBA
I think this would be the line up we will see today.i would want to see rafael play instead of neville.Full respect to him but i think we have to accept now that he has passed his prime. He is no longer the same.
I think it would be a 3 – 1 to united and own goal will strike today for united.
UNITED FOREVER
It’s almost inevitable we’ll see 4-5-1.
If it was 3 – 1 or 4 – 1, then I could understand throwing an extra forward on from the off but I don’t see it. Fergie will know that conceeding the first could prove disastrous, not just for the result, but for the confidence after two poor performances.
It’s not the end of the world if we go 4-5-1, it only really sounds negative when we get beat, or outplayed like we were in Munich. On a better day, Nani, Valencia and co should be more involved to make it more of a 4-3-3 when we’re attacking.
Bayern will start with their two world-class wingers + probably Schweiny and Van Bommel in the middle. So united have no choice but to start 5 in midfield (to try to keep Ribery and Robben quiet – it would be almost impossible with 4 in the middle and Neville as right back)
Which leaves Berba alone upfront again and begs the question of where goals will come from. The answer to that should be our own wingers being a lot more positive than in the last two games, or , in other words, starting Nani/ Giggs on the left.
In the middle, there are no obvious choices other than fletcher but given that we need pressing and, finally some decent passing completion, Carrick should probably start. In theory at least, he is the best passer on the team and can keep possession much better than he has recently; and he is creative.
The third midfield spot would be one of Giggs/ Scholes/ Park (no, Gibson doesn’t have what it takes to start in this game) and that would be the player charged with supporting Berbatov. Scholes cannot play upfront effectively anymore, he has been moved deep as he doesn’t have the legs. The same is true for Giggs to a lesser extent + he has often looked lost in the AM position, much better on the wing. Park has glaring technical limitations and for some reason can’t play with Berbatov. No choice is great but I’d go for Giggs as a starter + ask carrcik fletcher to take chances and get into the box more often.
So:
VDS
Neville/ Rafael – Rio – Vidic – Evra
Valencia – Fletcher – Carrick – Giggs – Nani
Berba
No two words about it, this is not a team full of quality and even Rooney’s addition can’t make up for the midfield deficiencies.
So God bless the team, they will need good luck
@GTull – completely agree. Bayern starting midfield will be better than anything Man Utd can put together in the middle right now so 4-5-1 is inevitable.
4-5-1 is fine as long as the midfielders get up to support berbatov when in posession……that is when the true-power of 4-5-1 unlocks itself….
You can play 4 strikers on the pitch, but if they are spending all their time behind the play, then they’re not gonna score too many goals , are they?
The season is at stake here.we have to do it tonight
another massive chance for berba.lets back him and see if he can take it and then start having potshots at him
Just don’t go out with a wimper, stand up be counted.
This match and the upcoming matches have to do with saving face, millions of eyes are going to be fixed on OT and more than half of those watching will want us to crash out. In order to still be considered a force in football the boys have to show up and stand up to be counted. 4-5-1, or 4-3-3 or 4-4-2 even 4-6-0 it doesn’t matter we just have to turn up and show that we are Manchester United
I REALLY THINK THIS IS GOING TO BE OUR NIGHT . WE SEEN AT THE CHELSEA GAMES SECOND HALF THAT UNITED HAD TO DO SOMETHING AND THEY STEPPED UP. I HOPE NANI HAS ONE OF HIS BEST GAMES AND DUIF(?) SORRY ABOUT MY SPELLING GETS TO PLAY.
I ALSO HOPE GOTTA HATE TINY TEARS COMES BACK ON THIS
The CROWD plays an IMPORTANT role tonight. SING YOU HEARTS OUT
Just had a bit of a nap before the game and thought I would tell you about the amazing dream I had.
I am in the Stretford End but bizarrely can hear the TV commentator talking.
We are 1-0 down at half time and we need to score 3 to go through.
Then the commentator says this – ” I understand Sir Alex has made 1 change at half time, it appears United made an audacious bid for Lionel Messi at half time and the little Argentine will be wearing the United shirt and playing the second half.!”
Can you imagine if we bought Messi at half time and brought him on – Brilliant.
Shame real life aint as good as dreams but at least I didnt wake up and realise I was a Liverpool fan.
Can you imagine how fucking devastaed you would be.
i dont enjoy it when i watch my games overseas. watch the chelsea horror show in KL, malaysia. Today, i am stuck in Hanoi, Vietnam. Last year CL was in Jakarta, fuck me. Pls for goodness sake lads……bring us through to the semi today.
As how the last 2 minutes at Allianz seems to derail our season, a magical couple of minuites today could turn our fortune around too.
BELIEVE.
Costas – I said a while back berbatov tactically is one of the worse players to have in your squad, you can only use him in a 442 unfortunetly he cant be used in a 433 because the game against chelsea showed why berbatov cannot lead the line in a 433 because he does not have that drive rooney has, it has been the same with barcelona ibrahimovic’s slow style of play makes him ineffective in a 433 they are lucky they have the best player in the world to compensat ibrahimovic’s sort comings.
But united dont have the CM to play in a 2 against very strong teams or united dont have enough depth upfront when your main CF is out, and unless macheda really steps up uniteds striking options are really bad. , this is why I hate united playing 433 because when your main striker is out united are fucked tactically and thats the buety of playing 442 or 424 if you lose a striker you still have other options.
Plea to the Green and Gold Army!
These Anti Glazer Chants if you must please sing them Outside the Ground before and after! During this beaufitul game please sing your little hearts out but only United and player songs! If by chance we go 4-0 up then treat yourself to a Glazer Out Chant! Help be the 12th man in the stadium of dreams! no disgraceful Anti Glazer Chants like i herd 10 minutes to go from the liverpool game when we were underpressure!
A reporter for SSN has said Rooney turned up at Old Trafford with his kitbag and in the club tracksuit, interesting times.
Believe.
I believe in every player.
@willierednut
Interesting indeed….
Demichelis is shiting his pants.
Costas
Interesting that you bring up Demichelis. He really is horrible isn’t he? Even though we were very poor in Munich he struggled as hell. Just not a very good footballer I think. Hopefully he plays tonight.
Fuck it…I’m gonna go shout like a madman later today
COME ONNN
I hope Carrick,Rafael and Nani get a start tonight……attack attack attack!!!
He just came in early to get the lager drinking out of the way before the cameras are on him again:) just kidding!
I really do hope he will play for a bit in the second half, but of course ideally we attack and score in 1H and allow him to rest….
Which CM player would make us play 442 next season?
LET’S GO UNITED, STOMP THESE GERMANS!
@Colbert
Yeah he didn’t look good. Maybe that slip before Rooney’s goal deflated him. I don’t rate Van Buyten a lot either, but he looked better in the first leg.
UNITED4life – Jean Makoun, very much underated as Madrid found out.
Not the time to point score about players, people, absolutely the time to get behind every single one of them for the whole match. Bitch and moan about those you don’t like in the summer if you must, but not now. Also think about who has been slated for ages in the past and is now a big favourite and hope someone turns up trumps tonight , even at the expense of your reputation for assessing who is or isn’t good enough for United. Form, confidence, team-formation, innate skills, guts , all play a part, but even off-form or lesser players can be lifted on the night with the right wall-of -sound support. I’m sick of hearing about how Anfield scares players shitless on European nights. Those of you lucky enought to be there, let’s hear you all get Old Trafford rocking tonight!
The Hour is Fast approaching, Come ON ,COME ON !!!!!!
feels good to get that first one off
I BELIEVE United
Ribery won’t fear us.
costas where the hell are you pal…..im getting more nervous than a woman with her legs apart waiting for a blind gynaecologist to examine her
time for you to go into confident mode
I think and pray and hope we can beat them…just that last ditch goal in the allianz worries me….cos without that any type of win would have done…3-2…8-7…24-23 etc..
just with an away goal for them…we’ll need to win by 2…that worries me
BUT IM PRAYING…HOPING…
C’MON UTD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
C’MON
C’MON
C’MON
C’MON
Is he really that good? i think he was in the Lille team we face in the CL years ago and i did not hear anything for so long. Is he the kind of player who can keep the ball, distribute and score goals? I think our problem is not a DMer we have the likes of flecher, ado and hargo what we need is scholes at his early days or player like xavi hernandes.
@suhayl
Yeah, because I am the difinition of confidence! I am nervous too man. I am waiting for the line up at the C.L. website and reading a bunch of ABU comments on the side!
c’mon boys! i’m in the states, but would do terrible disgusting things to be at OT tonight. C’mon United!!! Now Bayern will see their truest test of all…
phew, the time has come. Reading some of the earlier post is making nervous.
Lets hope for a good performance and a win today that takes us to the semis.
C’mon you reds. VDS in goal somehow makes me believe that we will get thru.
Rooneys gonna be involved at some point tonight, I can feel it!!!!!!!!!!!!!
There ain’t that many world class midfielders about and the ones that are world class, are already at top clubs, xavi, iniesta, essien.
Ribery needs a dentist – get what im getting at Neville.
Its going to be a good night tonight – mark my words. Everyone get it into your heads that at 6.44pm Goat in a United Shirt has proclaimed that tonight will be bloody bliss. Everyone come on here later and can ask me how i knew. Everyone can come on and proclaim me their spiritual leader in all things United and I expect some serious back slapping and well dones, saying things like “Goat you’re great”, “would you like a drink goat”, “your tag is fantastic but you’re even more fantastic”, “if I wasn’t a bloke I’d fuck you magic goat”, “I don’t know about goat, that should be god”, “wow, goat I’m going to have a wet dream about you”, “……….
So sharpish after the final wistle, trolleys round ankles, get on here and praise the goat in all his splendor. Oh and you can also praise Nani for scoring two goals tonight. If anyone puts money on that then Goat wants a drink from your winnings.
Rooney starts according to the BBC.
I don’t know about you but bayern is shit if we play like we did the last two months appart from the first leg and chealse we can win with ease. Yes we are short of resource(roonye) but still bayern is not even the strongest team in the QFinal.
rooney to start!
@Giles Oakley says
Well said Giles, well said. We need to support the players, they are all winners in my eyes right now. i just want them to do well
Come on united! Mufc! Believe! We can do it! Vamos vamos vamos
Robben vs a tired Evra could also be a bit tricky. I hope Pat is up to it.
Well aparently we took the risk. I hope it’s worth it.
If we lose, it’s not so bad. It’ll be the first time since 2004 IIRC that no English team will be in the finals. So what?
VDS – Rafael, Rio, Vida, Evra – Valencia, Carrick, Gibbo, Fletch, Nani – Rooney!
gibson?????????? oh fuck.. also I put £5 on berba to score first.. shit!
Wayne Starts……FFs
Bench:
Kus, Scholes, Giggs, O’Shea, Evans, Berbatov, Macheda
Rooney to start, looks like Berba’s benched again.
Rooney starts and Gibson starts as well… both I dare say we didn’t expect.
Skysports just reported ROONEY AND GIBSON to start
its not that I dislike Gibson.. but this is not a match where we should test out our young players
I wouldn’t say Gibson is a big gamble. Thankfully he has Carrick and Fletcher around him. And, not to slate Scholesy or anything, but Gibson’s freshness could be more vital tonight.
Rooney starts confirmed by sky
Robben starts.
Robben starts too btw.
Sh ows the confidence SAF has in berbatov ina do or die game.Really surprised and its a massive gamble. Rooney must be say 60 % fit. Would have preferred him on the bench than to start. The longer it goes on with us having to score the longer he will have to play possibly worsening his injury.
Oh boy, Fergie’s pulled another one out of the hat, didnt see this one i must admit, at this point i dont know what to think, guess we’ll see when the game kicks off
I think fredrico will get the nod ahead of Berbatove to come on as a sub sometime in the game according to….
fresh legs in the middle to hold and destroy……….wingers to create something for the main man
Is Sir Alex sure about starting Rooney? I’m worried that instead of having him for the derby, we’ll lose him for the entire season.
If we can keep their wingers quiet we will win half the battle. Also we must not give any free kicks 25 yards out because robben is lethal in dispatching them in the back of the net.
Gibson?! WTF?! That scares the shit out of me! He’s such a passenger.
Oh well, I’ve learned to trust Fergie but damnit if doesn’t test my faith sometimes.
The teams picked now, lets get behind the lads, Red Armyyyyyyyyyyyyy
United:
VDS
Rafael, Rio, Vida, Evra
Valencia, Carrick, Gibson, Fletcherinho, Nani
Rooney
Good line up, PIG, Evans, O’Shea, Giggs, Scholes, Berba and Macheda in the bench. Confirmed in the UEFA site.
PPL can go on and on about what berbatov does but this now shows if a 60% rooney now starting what does that say for berbatov.
Lay off your FUckin prawns and SING YOUR LUNGS OUT
Yeah Berbatove won’t come on before Macheda does. Especially since there is no Berbatove in our squad.
COSTAS i think you’re a genius. you suggested Gibson for today and i didn’t think Fergie would go for it. You are good
Rooney starts!!!!!!!!!!!
COME ON YOU MIGHTY REDS ROOOOOONEEYYY UNITED UNITED UNITED
@Costas
He meant BerbaLove the emotional striker.
I think Fergie has finally given up on Berbatov. Shame that he didn’t fit with our style. A very good player who never should have bought.
Come on United. I’ll take a 1 – 0 own goal as long as we win but here’s hoping Wazza is fit and bangs a few in to take limelight off Messi
i hope Gibson turns up today cos he’s important in that midfield 3, him and carrick especially will need to have an understanding.
I hope OT crowd tonight bring down the roof and sing all night
@Costas
You are good at spellchecking really. Appart from that let’s talk on the substance of it.
Yo Slim, it was me suggested Gibbo, only joking.
holy shit. this is an act of ferguson telling england to fuck off. he doesn’t give a shit about the world cup. he just needs rooney today. first half hat trick then sub him off at halftime would be a dream.
Guys lets not start jumping to Berbatov explanations again. Jesus Christ. If Rooney starts the game, it;s because he is ready to go. Nothing more.
@Slim
I wish I could take the credit lol. But someone else from here said they read it on a website hours ago. Turns out they were correct.
Berbatov’s on the bench, don’t know where Berbatove is lol.
Fucking good team and instead of Rooney on instead of Macheda exactly how i predicted it yesterday. Gibson is a master stroke. Shoot long range at the keeper and keep him on his line and allow Rooney to get in between keeper and defenders or allow Rooney to play deep and let Nani and Valencia to break into the space. My prediction Nani two goals Rooney and Gibbo with the other two. Goes to say Semi Final here we come.
OMG ROONEY IS GONNA START
I HAVE TO GO TO THE GAME NOW GUYS
BYE AND WISH US LUCK
@UNITED4life
On the substance? If we need a goal, Berbatov will probably come on before Mahceda does in my opinion.
Rooney starts!!!!
Here’s the starting XI: Van der Sar, Evra, Ferdinand, Rooney, Vidic, Carrick, Nani, Rafael, Fletcher, Valencia, Gibson.
Come on you reds!!!!!!!
*Macheda*
Jinxed!
As it turns out all the tabloids that usually report rubbish were spot on
willierednut
that is his place.
jesus, this match has gone up a notch in the nerve-wracking stakes.
only one thing is for certain right now – saf has real balls – esp knowing that if the worse was to happen and we get knocked out tonight and rooney worsens his injury (i’d be surprised if rooney has actually recovered 100%) not only will the guy have disgruntled utd fans on his hand but he’ll be public enemy no 1 for the england supporters!
the stakes for this match have just gone up a huge amount and probably not in a good way either – this really needs to pay off big time and i have no idea what will happen now (head says bayern, heart says utd if they play to their max potential)
it’s a good point some are making that saf would rather risk all of the above than play berba
the only prediction i can make is that all us fans are going to have nervous breakdown at least once before this match ends!
@AIG
Yeah and imagine how they will react if God forbid Wazza suffers a recurrence that will put him in doubt for the World Cup.
If you say sooooooooooo
I overlooked O’Shea’s comeback. Glad to have him back.
@Colbert
Indeed. He has been a big loss this season. Glad to have him back this season. Even that was in doubt.
fuck the world cup….today is the world cup as far as I am concerned….
Costas – it was not taking my dig at berbatov but I am not convinced rooney is fit and that ankle I dont think is totaly ready, fergie is taking a gamble because of the defeat against chelsea and he knows our other options upfront are thread bear and it is also a big chance to get to the final if we can get past bayern.
Gibson starts? That is huge! This is a very attacking line up for us… Goals are guaranteed in this game…
wow! come on Reds!
Sheasy on the bench.
@RTNK
I understand that, but I don’t think that Fergie was back against the wall anyway. Yes 4-5-1 with Berbatov can be less affective than with Rooney, but I don’t think we would have struggled to score as long as the midfield and Berba brought their A game.
Anyway, the main thing now is that we get through the next round and Wayne does the job with no ill effects.
Rooney will secure out place in the semis…fact
I really don’t think we should have risked him. Rooney must have begged Fergie to death to play him, because it is a bizarre decision. If we score then he HAS to come off for Berba. Worried more about Rooney than the game itself.
@willierednut says
Big ups to you man. nice call,
Rooooooooooooooooooooooney
loving the lineup but how the fuck does gibson get a start tonight???? Hopefully he proves me wrong! We shall see! Come on you reds
I understand why Fergie picked Rooney, to burn of his sneaky pint the toerag.
HOLY CRAP Rooney is starting! He must really be fit or no way Fergie would risk this.
SHITTING IT BUT COME ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Costas – the problem is we are short of fire power and it has shown this season when rooney is not there like it or not we are in trouble when it comes to the big games, if its the smaller teams we may get away with it. It also does not help uniteds midfield has been terribly jaded has of late tonight I am not sure but the team ows the fans and especially the boss of a big performence
The main reason I don’t think Gibson should be starting is because he will be the obvious scapegoat IF we lose. I really hope he has a good game. And I hope Carrick is wearing the same shooting boots he wore against Roma in 07.
@Costas
Their reactions will be over the top no doubt. everytime rooneys ane is mentioned they just have to talk about the world cup and how important he is to england. gets annoying after a certain point
Rooney starts?? has SAF given up on the league??
Mind you, I’m well happy to see him back…
Rafael and evra will shutdown the flanks allowing our midfield to supply the proper support to nani, valencia and rooney to go on secure victory
Could it be that Rooney`s injury was actually not at all that bad? I was of the opinion that maybe Fergie should unleash Rooney during the last 15 min if need be but well..
The only thing I know is that I have total trust in our manager. He is the one working with Rooney and if he feels that the lad can play fair enough. Let`s hope Rooney can be inspired just like Messi was yesterday
@RTNK
There is a problem with our attacking options if Rooney gets injured. But, for one night we could have done without him. The midfield battle will be more important I think.
@AIG
Lol, it has been annoying for me since 1998. Since Bckham got sent off. But, there is nothing they can do. What did they say after Rooney played 87 minutes against Egypt? It was his choice. Well so is this tonight.
Anyway, off to watch the first half. Come on United!!!
That one crazy line up TBH. SAF is going out all guns blazing. First time in my memory SAF prefers youngsters to experience. I trust in his judgment and hope that the boys do us proud.
Just seen the team news……..I cant fucking believe it……
Mind games is one thing…..this is a completely new level….
This is it…!
KICK OFF LADS COME ON!!!!!!!!!!
Its Now or Never, come on we are going to the Semis
GIBBO U NUTTER
I don’t beleive it!
Gibbooooooo. 1×0!!!!!! Where are the haters, now?
NANI U NUTTER
who would’ve expect??? gibson starting seems to be a great strategy by sir alex!!!!
i just came, orgasm dreamland
anyone thinking about Roma?
let us do bloody ROma
Naniiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii 2×0!!! Stuff this motherfuckers!!!!!! What a goal!!!!!
Let us do Bloody Roma…
I’m crying with happiness….
Rooney is on fire today, first the tap for Gibbo, than the inversion for Valencia! Damn!
fuk me!!!! United is blitzkrieging Bayern Munich.. How ironic is that!!!!!
Bayern are wetting their pants.
Rooney is crazy! See how he went into that challenge – the ankle is in for some punishment today…
“they don’t know what hit them”
Fergie greeted God with his hands. Is Fergie the messiah in Disguise?
Oh my God
That’s why i always love Man United
Not being funny but I see a Rafael red card coming…
o no… rooney is done for today it seems… another twist of the ankle!
Is that the same ankle but?
Obviously it isn’t otherwise he would have been off by now.
It his right. What I hate about the Rooney injury it is an ankle. Ankle need time to recover and heal. If you don’t give it time to heal you will try and compensate for the weakness. He is clearly doing that. COmpensating makes you susceptiable to further injury or starting a reoccuring injury. I think it all goes back to his knee. I think he played on, compensated for his knee, put too much on his ankle over 90 minutes, it buckled and he hurt his ankles. You saw it today he gets a little kick in the back of his standing leg and then tweaks the same (right) ankle. My point is not to second guess the manager but it was clearly a gamble. A gamble I hope is paying off. COME ON UNITED!!! BELIEVE!!!! WE SHALL NOT BE MOVED!
how good are gibbo’s corners as well???
It is the same ankle. He is just fighting throught the pain. You can play on an ankle like that if you can handle the pain. Rooney is dealing with the pain. He is fucking champ, remember?
what a chance…
AWHHHHHHHH Rafel awhhhhhh mate, that was the semi buddie.awhhhhhh
Come ON ON ON
SHHHHHHHHHHHHHHIIIIIIIIIIIIIITTTTT!! Rafael almost makes it 3×0! Amazing play for the kid.
since the ankle knock rooney has done very little running, not been invloved at all in build ups… hope we don’t get complacent here… what a chance for rafael though
fukin bastards trying to aim for Rooney’s ankle….
Dutch ass
This nazi fucks are aiming for Rooney’s ankle. Dirty bastards.
tighten up the defense!!! c’mon.. lets bang in a few more….
That fucking van rommel needs a smack in the puss picking on the youngster
FUCKIN MAGIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
3 bloody 00000000000
Ribery IS SHIT, Rafael has him in his pocket
Nani you are a fucking star* what are you a fucking star*
it’s probably all over now!!
Nani is total beast!!!!! Valencia is amazing!!!! And it’s 3×0!!!
Come on lads we have to be stronger then that. Why does Rio not challenge Muller? COnfusing moment. It might be just what we need to remind us this tie is NOT OVER!! KEEP IT GOING LADS!
Fucking Olic!
3×1
Not over guys! Let’s wake up.
VDS has saved our necks so far. Come on GUYS!
2-0 was better than 3-1. It`s not over yet, we have to focus.
what’s wrong with carrick????
shit!!! all of their goals are gifts from us… guys, stop being so fucking generous!!!
Where was the defence?
well… it couldn’t be too easy could it
this is gonna be fukin tense – if they score just the one goal then they go through
com’on lads !!!
why oih why did we have to conced that goal……3-0 at HT was done and dusted…now its a game again…
BTW I had a feeling Gibson would score today……
Guys, cheers for all Nani supporter!!! We believe in him and know he had the talent. He play well and he shot 3 times and 2 goal!! First goal was really awesome! Haha
Bayern ended with the bit between their teeth….. we need an early 2nd half goal to shatter them…
Fuk, all we can do is just concentrate now… c’mon lads!
just when carrick was having such a good game, that little c*nt olic.
Carrick should come off, he{s been out of the game ever since he got hit in the head. And I{d even dare say we should take Rooney off. The germans are doing everything they can to get him injured again.
I think we need to take Rooney off. I don’t mean to suggest he didn’t help but we need more activity upfront. I know we are scoring but he can’t help close down possession early and that is eaxctly why Bayern got going, able to build a quick attack forward. A healthy Rooney helps close some of those situations down. I would be fine with him coming on for the first 15 our so and bring on Berbatov to help build possession and close down the defenders on the ball. I would even be fine with Macheda running around out there but I think berba gives us more quality on the ball which could prove difficult to handle for Van Buyten and Demichiles.
our first half performance is more like our second half…I hope they still have energy in the second half, because the way we ended the last 5 minutes is not good….
we need one more goal to be safe.
The Boys have served us up Champagne football Done us fucking proud chuffed to bits with every fucking single one of them. Just a fucking great and I mean great team tonight, well done Lads estatatic, just magnifico. Brilliant dead Brilliant.
Believe On On On come you Reds
fuck sake…we deserve a better score line than that..
We ‘re not going to be able to keep their players…esp rob and rib quite for the full 90…thats asking way too much….and thats the danger of the away goal…
we need to score again….cos they know they can sit back…play shite and get 1 chance and go through……….fuckin away goals…hate em
And we cant defend it out
Amazing half and then the gift wrapped goal from us. In any way the guys mean business and 45 minutes mire of this craziness/goodness (depends on taste). Guys need to make us proud one more half and we are good.
Great fucking game! That was a silly goal to concede though. Wtf Carrick fell down at the softest touch? Rafael too needs to sort out his temper.
What worries me is that up to now Fergie prefers a 70% fit Rooney to Berbatov.
Surely he has to change him at half time as if not he WILL be out 3 months.
We need another goal guys and soon as they are beginning to believe they can sneak it…
COME ON YOU MIGHTY REDS UNITED UNITED UNITED
we will still have chances on the counter though as long as we can keep it tight at the back….and we just need to take one of them in the second half….
RTE pundit “yeah nani still cant play”
yeah you fuckin retard thats why he has 2 goals
Funny because I was watching the United v Roma game just before kick off… C’mon United!!
when rafael took the ball down the wing, I could see rooney sprinting like usain bolt…maybe his ankle is ok and can keep playing.
2 goals for Nani, how great is that!!!
fuck all bayern players… everytime roo got the ball, they stepped on his foot… i’d prefer macheda than berba to replace rooney. we can see in 1st half the game was played in a very quick pace, bringing berba on will change our style of play… anyway, i’m sure fergie knows what to do!!!
that away goal has just changed the complexion of the tie…..at 3-0 we’re cruising and then its nail-biting time again…….God i’ll have gobbled up a finger or two by the time this is over….
No offense to Berbatov, but I would love to see Macheda come on for Rooney… there are goals there on the counter and Kiko is the striker for that kind of game
Gibson to start and score, who would have guessed that!
As usual, united are gonna try to do it the hard bloody way.
Rafael needs to be careful with the yellow card he s got. Rooney to play for further 20 mins than sub with Macheda.
Careful Lads.. We need another goal.
God damn was that fuck up int eh 43rd minute really necessary? Pretty much a perfect United performance until then.
Wayne is really gutting out out there.
Nani’s goals were excellent but he needs to sort out his crosses. They were horrible. He needs to calm down a bit and not get too excited. We’re not done yet!
2 more Valencia assists by the way.
If we get through a meeting with Larry WHite could be on the cards. Lets hope we get there. Come on UNited!!!
hurr. You need to appreciate what he has done and not expect more. You accept what he is. Look at Gibson. What a goal. No one expect them to score. LOL
Bayern have started well. Come on now. Let us ride this out.
.what just happened?
Fucking hell!!!! Rafael sent off.
Ribery asking the ref to give a card as well.
God i hate Bayern.
FUCK!!!!!
rafael red card – sadly inevitable – kid has to learn to be more clever – shame about bayern players reaction but thats football
we are now play with 9 considering rooney
Who is playing at right back?
ref was too harsh there so early in the second half
shud have given him a talking to
rooney is chasing very little at the moment
I think we will see a Bayern player sent off as well.
Nani close.
Rooney has to come off and is. Bring on O’Shea. Fantastic to see him back!
Gibson upfront??
COME ON UNITED!!!!!! BELIEVE!!!!!
so we’ve not got a proper striker on – so were playing 4-5-0
fukin hell this is gonna be really tense
It wasn’t even that bad… Sure he was doing his best to hold him back, but Ribery looked for it and was immediately bating the ref along with the rest of the bayern team. Don’t want that dirty bastard at United.
I think a striker will come on at some point. Bring off Gibson and put Nani back out wide.
sounds like the supporters are the 11th man
go on make some fukin noise
These fucking Germans are getting right on my Tits fucking cunting whores acting like a fucking set of Thespians, pure twats.
Rafael in my eyes though you are a fucking star, always will be……End off
Come ON YOU REDS
We always dont do it the easiest way. Let’s hope we can defend well. Nani forward. Haha.
Fuck Carrick in the face!
Shyt. It’s so scary to watch. Im afraid we ….
We can’t sit back like this. Come on. We need an outlet.
Wow – we cannot possibly hold on for half an hour like it – I can’t believe we’re in this position. It is going to take some heroic effort on the part of the 10 men out there to get out of this one. I am in shock.
Well done Nani. Keep it up. Evra good play.
Christ I Hay a paramedic on stand bye never mind ma fucking second bottle of whisky, crapping maself
come on Carrick…
Oh come on.
Carrick could have scored.
We have a goal in us.
Nani are you ok? Are you ok?
Does anyone know why nani got dizzy?
I believe we dont have much stamina. Bayern are wasting out stamina passing around. Nani almost faint and carrick almost goal. We need to score one more goal to be save.
We need subs to keep the energy high. They are just trying to tire us out into making mistakes with steady build up play back and forth. We gotta keep working and pushing when we can.
How can things turn so quickly? God damn it, I can’t believe the position we’re in right now. Let’s score one more, I don’t care how it’ll be. It can bounce of van Buyten elbow for all I care.
It’ll be United 4 x 1 Bayern. You heard it here first.
I hope…
man it will be devestating if they score for us and the players – they are working their socks off… why did rafael have to be so stupid with his 1st yellow!
This defensive pussification is not going to do our cause any favours
I just got a sinking feeling with out being a doom merchant this Ref is gonna screw us with a decision.
20 min + injury time to survive…
we need to keep possession, bring on giggsy or scholesy.
Knew it was coming. Just knew it. Why are we playing with no strikers?
damn it, it was coming I felt
we cant fucking lose this way, FUCK NO.COME ON REDS
Gutting…
FUCK
it was bloody coming though….
Berba needs to come on now for carrick. That’s a no brainer
Come you Reds shout yer fucking hearts out.
Believe come on we can do this.
i think we can do this – we’ve already had a couple of chances with 10men
get kiko on
Robben off. Look at the Bayern players celebrating already.
This is sickening. Make those changes SAF!
damn! how I wish rafael hadn’t played today!… top goal though – credit where it’s due
Thats it then. One man less, no striker. Proud of the effort though. The lads can be proud of themselves
Excellent goal though by robben.
rafael red turned the game but i just dont feel like blaming the young lad. He will learn from it
Sigh – can’t blame anyone tonight. We were immense and still go out., again barring a miracle. Now, we MUST NOT concede again, and with 5 mins to go I will put my money on us scoring! I have a feeling! Only we cannot concede one more…Someone can make themselves a legend today. We could have finished this bayern team off a couple of weeks back, we had finished them today…and still no…wow…
got nothing to loose
go 3-4-3
stop giving up !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
the inevitable fightback will begin
bring on berba…10 min to redeem yourself
The way bayern are playing now is the way we should have played with 10 men.we should have kept the ball better, we just didnt.
What will hurt us is not what we did today but that sloppy goal we conceded at the allianz arena with just 2 seconds to go
remember those chances we had to kill the game – aaa football
Come on Berba. Come on. We can’t get hold of the ball at the moment.
10 mins left.
Be-fucking-live!!!!!!!!
Bayern will sit back, they already are…lets hold on a couple of more minutes and give it all we’ve got! come on!
Its coming the Stretford end sucking the ball in.
Come on you reds Believe
bayern celbrating like they have won already – come on United, at least give a fight!
Just one goal, one chance
come on OG step up!!!!!!!!
Can’t get hold of the ball at the moment. This is not looking good
CMON YOU REDS ……..
Berba is playing really well. Just what we need!
Looks like game over, lesson learnt i hope
Well done bayern
Proud of the effort. As is aid i didnt expect us to go through but didnt expect such a good performance from us either
Gutted. All I can say.
Good night.
fuck fuck fuck ……………………….fuck all red card ….. unlucky with the injury……. fuck bayern they didnt deserve it..
Thats the season then. Only bragging rights left in the derby.
Well that completes a thoroughly miserable week. Am still proud of the lads effort though, sending off made it almost impossible.
Heartbreaking stuff…
Fuck it. With all their luck, the cup is surely on these fucking german cunts’ hands
aig before you start, I would suggest temper your posts
Great effort lads. Gutted, but nothing to be ashamed of. We took it to them, would have won with 11.
Michael Carrick is a useless bastard
Terrific performance by us.
Couple of mistakes by the lads.
The crowd was just terrific.
Finalists for two years running
Can’t fault the team. Inexperience from Rafael.
United till I Die!!
Nani worked his ass off and almost passed out for it and Carrick just goes and let everyone down. Never have been so gutted with a match.
Rafael and carrick can go hang their fucking selves.
This will hurt more than the Barca defeat.
aig,
the season is NOT over.
Pain. so much fucking pain. DAMNTI
Atleast Nani looked class.
I know he’s just a kid etc etc… but I’m so annoyed with Rafael! aaaargh!!
Fucking gutted. Please don`t buy Robery by the way, hate this bastard now.
Fergie is bound to lose his patience with Carrick at some point?
I am proud of the guys. We played a really good game. Can’t blame Rafael, he takes most of the guilt TBH, but what can you do. There are so many other thing s to say. We did have chances to finish the game and being scored by that fucking cunt is really gutting. Well we have the EPL to play for, so let’s win it.
Fucking gutted. Bayern didn’t win, we lost. Don’t know what to say at the moment, I’ll collect myself and be back later.
Proud of the lads……Gutted for Rafael…..poor kid will blame himself after playing so well…..
Its been good to know all of you……..
Cheers Lads!
we don’t deserve to be out of the UCL this season, we are out due to mistakes by carrick and rafael
but heck, i’m still proud of the team, they are MY team and i’m UNITED TILL I DIE!
@redscot
i am fine mate and let me repeat DAMN proud of the lads. just wish we hadnt lost to chelsea and the destiny of the league would have been in our hands. That is hurting me more than tonights exit
not nice losing this way, but the guys tried their best. Just wasnt to be
I am less gutted today than I was after the first leg – yes we’re out, but we showed that we were by far the better team. Obviously that counts for nothing, but it makes me just a little less bitter. This hurts really bad though. Well done lads, well done SAF. Sometimes its like things are fated to happen a certain way, and through these two legs it was clear that Bayern were pretty much destined to go through.
the last time we got kicked out at the Qfs we won the league. BELIEVE
what a stupid 2nd half tactic. playing with no real striker??
Berbatov is proving to be a flop. Anybody who cant see that is blind. I am turning into a Berbatov hater now. He is so stupid, that SAF would rather play without any striker than him. Haha.
Why didnt SAF bring Macheda on? arrghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
I’d like to kick Carrick right in the nuts… Gifted them the first goal and went awol for the second time… And Rafa, although the yellow cards were harsh, should’ve known better. So f’ing gutted.
We threw that away. We are a much better team than team and they have no chance of winning this tournament. Gutted.
Great effort from the team. I’m not impressed with Bayern at all, I thought those 2 goals were pretty weak to concede. Carrick fell down to easily for the first goal and the second goal started when he lost the possession during the counter attack thus resulted in a corner kick. It was a bad night for Carrick. And to be honest he isn’t able to get his form back for the last two seasons.
And if I can take a positive note from the match is how Raphael made Ribery looked stupid. He’s young and very talented. He will learn something from this game.
All and all it’s a very convincing performance from the United. I’m very proud and wish the team good luck for the rest of the season.
I refuse to blame anyone for this.
We can blame Rafael all day, but if we hadn’t conceded then even if we were down to 10 men we would have held on.
If someone is going to slate berbatov… what could he have done really? didnt even get close to a oppurtunity.. CARRICK SHOULD HAVE DONE BETTER WITH HIS SHOT!!! Gibson and Nani as well, although those two had a terrific performance and carrick was shockingly bad
aig, if you are not going to believe we have a chance to win the league, i suggest you shut up
We should have managed the situation better. Ok we played with 10 men for 40min but is that how we play? i think our problem is deeper than the last three games, we need playes who keep the ball better.
No ‘english teams’ in the semis. How long has that been?
Nani was sensational. I am gutted about the way things turned out. Nani deserved it. I am lost in trying to understand what happened. Someone take a stab.
I know we are mad about Raf’s red card as I am. He shouldn’t have put himself in that position. He did two stupid things and got two stupid yellow cards. I am upset with him of course but he is a young kid. I guarantee he will learn I just hope this doesn’t kill his confidence. I am sure he will get a nice two week vacation from games and come back next season. At least now we can completely focus on the league.
Let Rooney rest and lets put faith in the squad. We have a good one with or without Rooney.
Aig-keep the faith, mate. Sure this is a defeat, but the boys played well, and Rafa was unfortunately sent off and probably won them the game. Should we be disappointed? I sure as fuck am. But we can still win the EPL-in fact, this probably increases our chances. We don’t have to win EVERYTHING every single year. In fact, if we win the EPL this year, we”ll have won the same number of trophies as last year. And look on the bright side. Gibson, Valencia and Nani all played really well. Vida and Rio got some good blocks in, Van der Sar had some great saves. And we still beat them. All I can say is this: fuck the away goals rule. Not like I’m bitter or anything
I seriously do not know where this all went wrong.
We played well
Scored goals
Defended well enough
Passing was good
The tactics were spot on.
Yet we lose. Ughh. I’m so angry, and im not even sure who I should be pissed at.
Carrick? For letting that cunt score in the first half?
Evra? For ball watching in the other tie.
Rafael? For getting himself sent off.
I hate those germans.
This is the first time in a long time that the boys have caused me to shed a tear. Even when they lose, when they lose like this, you’ve got to fucking love them. They did us fucking proud tonight.
What can I say? Rafael’s hot head was going to cost us at some point. Well done to the lads for the effort. It wasn’t to be. These games with Bayern have left nothing but pain.
I hope carrick doesn’t play again this season – play gibson instead for the rest of the games – please SAF! watching him on the team-sheet will make me so annoyed!
(nb I’m not saying he’s crap, it’s just I’m too annoyed with him)
*than them. choking on rage here
Atleast we can enjoy the remaining games without any pressure. tonight sucked a lot out of all of us i guess.Atleast we didnt concede in stoppage time. That would have been more heartbreaking
Spirited, if ultimately frustrating performance. Red card made it near impossible, and Carrick MADE it impossible. Can we please take him out back and shoot him, or donate him to FC United? I’m absolutely fucking furious with him, and it’s because this isn’t the first game he has let us down like this recently. He has been fucking atrocious for much of the season. I don’t rate Gibson as a United player, but I’ll take him over Carrick now, any day of the week. Evra looked knackered again, he must get a rest against Blackburn so we can at least hope to hang on to 2nd in the league. Nani was pure class, the only one who really seemd to believe we could do it after the red card, what a turnaround for him.
@cantona7:
What do you expect from him. Bayern controlled the second half, we couldn’t even get a ball.
I personally think getting OShea to replace Rooney was the right move. If we did not patch the right flank who knows what Ribery could do to us with Carrick went totally awol on the second half.
And again
The shirt is a symbol of defiance – and we defy those that do not believe
What a performance – the sending off was ridiculous – the Bayern players were asking for it – the ref should have held firm – pathetic
We had our chances – couldn’t care less about Robben – Carrick could have stopped both goals – oh well still love my club – like we all do
Absolutely proud – so proud – if Rooney was fit Bayern would have been destroyed – alas they were beaten but had the last laugh.
This club will never die – we are not finished yet
We’ll never die, we’ll never die!
I blame more Carrick than Rafael. Why didn’t he head the ball away. That was the turning point.
Sad moment. Just want to say that Rafael is a great kid. I wish him to keep going and not thinking too much about how costly his red card was. He has had the vital expirience in this game.
We must battle for championship now! Come on you REDS!
Rafael – pure class. Ribery was robbed many many times. We will never die!
@ aig, I like you am hurting to mate, almost crying, it was painfull the Germans screwed us with there antics, its fucking shocking way to behave, all I meant dont slag the Boys off, they did us proud. its not to be.
Or you tonight you will get the most dreadfull shit coming at YOU. Keep your head down below the Parapit.
just like the fans the players will be shattered emotionally after that – will be a test of character for manager and team to pick up for the rest of the games – but we can still win all of them
@marq
if it would have been in our hands i would have been very confident. It isnt and the last thing you want is to depend on other teams results especially with just 5 games to go and your confidence very low
I am so pissed off with the one position that has cost united the 2 ties, gary neville and rafeal both have cost united the tie, you add the fact it has been proven beyond rooney there is no one else.
Carrick is not to be singled-out for this defeat.
It was the tactic, cant you see it? The stupidest tactic is to defend 4-6-0! I am angry with Sir Alex for that. He should have brought MAcheda on at the start of the second half. When you are defending without any real striker, you are toothless going forward. When you defend like that, you are letting the opponent lay a siege on you, and the goal is bound to come. Argh..
fuck those germans, they won’t win the cup for sure … it is barca’s to lose … unless the germans do some voodoo curse or sth
@redscot
i have not slagged any player in any of my posts nor will I.i repeat for the hird time i am proud of the lads.
As United supporters we’ve been spoilt with success. We can’t win everything. The manner of defeat sure is quite hard to take. But there was a genuine improvement in our performance, and I take heart from it.
The league is not over by a long way. Watch out for the wounded red devils.
Ref should have never given a red card in that situation. One who should have been sent off is Badstuber for a foul on Valencia.
Lads gave everything, but ref did even more to see us out
But I admit: Roben goal was great, and Gibson and Carrick should have scored.
Very bad week, very sad evening.
But: I believe, come on, United!
@aig – what the fuck you on about? we are only one game behind in the league – of course we have a chance to win it
I REALLY WANT CARRICK OUT… NOW!!!!! HE HAS BEEN SHOCKING ALL SEASON.. I AM SO TIRED OF HIM I WANT TO GO AND BLOW HIS BRAIN ALL OVER THE UGLY FACE OF GAYRJEN ROBBEN
It’s funny how we’ve gift wrapped Bayern their qualification to the next round. Where to begin? Those chancec to make it 2 or 3-0 in Munich? Neville’s handball? Evra napping? Carrick getting outmuscled tonight? Rafael’s sending off.
You can’t make so many mistakes. As fantastic as we were in attack today, we’ve been suicidal at the other end.
Proud of the boys, they give us everything out on that pitch. As for Bayern, what a load of cheating bastards they are, rolling about everytime they were tackled, if that shit get to the final Barca will destroy them. People will say Rafa was stupid and cost us the game, but 2 tackles, 2 yellow cards and your off, fucking disgrace. U N I T E D united are the team for me
Really proud of our players. I cried my eyes out when the game finished but that’s football. Let’s pick ourselves up. I still believe we can win the league and even if we don’t we should be really pround that we have proved everyone who said that we would be nothing without Cristiano.
I love this team. I love Manchester United. We will never die.
And the reds go marching on on on!
when we lose i usually come in here to berate anyone i find in my crosshairs, tonight there could be one or two but to be honest i’m just proud they showed what United is made of,shame to lose rafael and go on to lose the game the way we did but they did us proud coming out and going for it like they did, crocked rooney and all, Fantastic
@Cantona:
It was a difficult decision I believe. A manager as experience as Sir Alex definitely understands what the consequence of playing with no striker as their defender will go forward. BUT if we replaced Rooney with Berbatov, we could have ended up with a worse result, having Ribery roaming around on the right flank.
I really think it was a good decision. Alas we did concede a goal after that
We didn’t deserve that (for me this is worse than the barca match as that felt odd as it was clear that they were the better team, in this match we were the better team when it was 11 vs 11 and it feels like a cruel robbing right now)
I wasn’t watching the live match but from the live text i was following it sound like bayern have had far too much good luck in this cl comp this season and the bayern players were very dirty and had no sportsmanship.
sorry it just feels like we didn’t deserve to get knocked out and esp in the manner that we did tonight. hopefully if it’s (most likely) a barca/bayern final messi and co can steamroller over them come may!
yup we have to sub somebody to cover Rafael’s place, i agree. But when you defend without any stiker upfront, it means you are not going forward. Our midfielder had no time to settle with the ball, that is why we lost the balls. Our midfielders dont have any choice to pass the ball, because nobody is upfront, and nobody can hold the ball.
Coca Cola cup. How fucking woeful.
Sell Carrick
Buy Taylor Swift
german twats!
we lost this tie in munich not tonight, the lads played great I for one am proad of them!
It is sickening to go out again on away goals… I’m sick to the back teeth arrrrrghhhhhhh.
I must say we played well with 11 men and shoulders seemed to drop understandably with 10 men.
That ref was awfully inconsistent – he didn’t send off Van Bommel when he shoulder barged already with a yellow card. He sends off Rafael because their players complained.
He didn’t book players for dangerous tackles for both sides and didn’t book for diving schweinsteiger was it?
what a miserable week with now chelsi having the initiative in the league. God help us.
cantona7, if you didnt notice, the turning point was not the lineup we started at halftime, it was when Rafael was sent off, stop slagging off Sir Alex
@Tony Starks
Of course we do have a chance but Chelsea have hit form at the right stage adn we play the ‘in form’ teams in the league in our away games. Chelsea play spurs and liverpool who are in shit form. Also its not 2 but 3 points due to our inferior goal difference.
@cantona7
All our attacks were coming from the wings, not from rooney. And he had taken 3 hard kicks in the ankle, he had to come off. And with Rafael out, would you leave ribery all alone? If Carrick had helped to keep the ball in the middle and had made a pass or two that helped us in any way (and let’s not mention their first goal…) the outcome would’ve been another.
Costas – well I have been proven right our striking options are thread bear, berbatov has shown he just cant cut it if he was that good why did a wayne rooney was not ready to start
Anon – Carricks come to a full stop and don’t give a fuck what anyone says, Bayern’s second goal came from him losing the ball in midfield.
I agree with cantona7 that we can’t single out one player. Yes, Carrick did lose the battle with Olic. But where wa the defence in that situation? Carrick was covering for someone that should have been there. And I wish I could say he’s to blame for starting Bayern’s attack for the second goal, but he did the one thing that the team was doing throughout the secind half. Gave the ball away. I know we were with 10 men, but surely we could keep the ball a little better?
that’s it for this season in the UCL guys … lets look ahead to the EPL … man we have a trophy to win guys …
as for the UCL … i wish good luck to barca, be rooting for them over those german cunts!
but for me our RB’s have cost us the tie.
BTW can anyone confirm whether liverpool need a 4th place finish to gurantee a shot at CL qualification?? or will winning the UEFA Cup gurantee them a CL spot automatically
It’s 3.00 a.m here…. and It’s really heartbreaking to see we getting dumped put like this.
But that boy NANI was awesome today…
It’s just a CL where someone else deserves and we don’t
We’ll be up and running for next season .. B.E.L.I.E.V.E
I’m really mad at Ribery. With his card waving antics. I don’t think the ref would have sent him off.
SAF mentioned it. Typical Germans is what he said.
what of sort of shit is that, it was the tactic, fucking carrick lost the ball in a vital area leading up to the corner they scored the second from, is it too much to ask a very well paid player to do his fucking job? oh and lets not talk about how he let the german brush him off for the first goal, piece of dead weight
Our history makes us strong! Such games makes us stronger – i’m sure. Rafael will be stronger, Carrick will be stronger. JUST KEEP FAITH AND BELIEVE IN THE TEAM YOU SUPPORT!
@aig – no no no… we are United of course I fancy us to get 5 wins – you don’t? goal difference of 4 goals man! come on! this is outrageously pessimistic
Feel sick right now… but i will always support my team…. i need some cheering up so im gonna whack on the treble DVD. Nah that wont cheer me up, i guess im just gonna ring up the boys and head out to the closest strip club, i need something to get my mind off this game. My conclusion to this season, we played over 40 games for 90 minutes, but the last 5 seconds in Germany has ruined our whole season. United Till I Die!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Costas – for me berbatov has got to be highlighted that he cannot go in there when rooney is not fit, the fact is we have not got enough in depth upfront we used to have but tonight our RB’s have cost us the ties
F*ckin Carrick! Too casual!
@RTNK
I wish I could say that the lack of attacking options cost us the game, but that’s far from the truth tonight isn’t it? Rooney was a risk, but his mere presence was enough to cause panic among Bayern players and we scored 3 times.
After that, the calamities started. I’ve been saying all season, we might be lacking attacking options, but the real problems are at the other end. How many goals did we have to score tonight anyway?
@Cantona7:
O’Shea was needed to cover Ribery, since Schweinsteiger kept supporting Ribery someone was needed to cover these 2. I think what Sir Alex wanted to do was to concentrate on the defend until 70ish minute and replace someone with Berbatov. The reason for doing so was to make them became frustrated and tired and thus allowing Berba the chance to work his magic. Alas it did not happen.
RedDevilzAdvocate – I totaly agree carrick once again lost the ball which lead to their goal aint that a suprise how the fuck did we go out to this average lot
disappointing but not devastating; we played well, won the game, and until rafael went off showed every sign that we would have comfortably gone through; OK we gave away one sloppy goal – but very much against the run of play, and another goal that would likely have been stopped with a right back defending the post.
But I can’t see any other team than barcelonafor the CL this season anyway; please god anyone but the germans!
and is there a more annoying trio of shits than ribery, robben and olic (ok, yeah, none of whom are german anyway!) – well, maybe there is a similar trio playing for the rent boys or scousers….
Back to the PL – always the first priority in my opinion
@ the Lawman and Willie on the button both posts.Just United through and fucking Through.
I just fell robbed tottaly body snatched, my mojo just vanished with Rafael you wee star*
Awa to get totally rat arsed pist, and no doubt get kicked off the Blog later
It´s been a bad bad week, oh how I hate that away goals rule. I don´t think its ever gone in our favour. Has it?
But anyway we have the weekend to look forward to. Now come on we have to win the remaining games and I´m sure Chelsea will drop 2 points somewhere.
COME ON YOU MIGHTY REDS. UNITED UNITED UNITED
@AIG:
The situation with Liverpool is that they need the 4th place so bad. If they loose the Champions League money who knows what will happen with Gerrard and Torres. The club may have to sell them to cover the debt payment they need to make. So yeah, they need the 4th place badly.
rafael will remember this day for the rest of his life, hope he can take a lesson or two and improve his game… after the red card we never really have what it takes to fight bayern, not even 10 seconds of possession.
i’m hoping that we can defend the lead but it’s never easy playing with 10 men you have to admit the goal from robben was brilliant!!!
well, credits to the lads for a very good performance before the sent off, all the goals are beautiful… but they’ll be left ruing all the stupid goals they conceded in the 1st leg and olic’s goal today…
now, the only thing to do is win all league games and hope chelsea fuck all…
next season we’ll come back a better team (maybe with some new players)…
Well I have to say how proud I am of the team and the effort tonight…except for 1 man who I consistantly slag off and who has played his part again tonight. CARRICK – out muscled for the first and gave away possession which led to the second, he doesn’t tackle, doesnt score and doesn’t make goals – what a waste of time he is. I feel sorry for Rafael even though he was stupid to get booked, the problem is at this level it is simply not good enough to see a boy make those mistakes and say “youthful exhuberance” – I don’t see the other top teams in Europe having that issue ? Having said that I though his play was otherwise superb.
I am more worried that Fergie doesn’t think he needs to make too many changes, we still need a great RB and our midfield, especially with Giggs and Scholes getting older than Gandalf is in desperate need of an overhaul… stunning match though and gutted to lose to those cheating german bastards…BTW don’t buy Pizzaface Fergie – he’s a wanker
@Tony Starks
I am glad you see it that way. i am too depressed at the momentto think anything positive . The next day always makes you feel better.I just cant see those scumboys dropping points. Even for us to win all 5 is a difficult ask given our fixtures
guys, do u think we need new players for next season?
i feel SAF needs to get a striker to partner Rooney, ie Villa or Pato
and also a damn CM, lets jz keep carrick on the bench shall we?
Costas – well starting with a wayne rooney who is nowhere near ready tonight to be starting and after 20 minutes he was limping, it highlights the problem that our other striker who cost a huge fee was no trusted tonight to go in there. But I am so pissed off how united went out tonight that we went out because united went down to 10 men
FUCKING GUTTED. Honestly i thought carrick won it for Bayern. Both goals was his mistakes. The first goal, should’ve clear it properly, with his height, i thought he had the advantage. The second goal, he delayed his pass. I dont fucking understand why he lost the ball in the middle of the park that gave Bayern the corner. It was a splendid strike, i must admit, but, phewwww. Im just gutted.
rafa was dumb. He did the same thing for the pen against city in the CC-reaching out, grabbing and pulling with your arms when the player is through. Maybe not the worst thing to happen in a football match but TOTALLY BLATANT. Very bad habit and he should have learned.
no complaints about any Man United player, the ref was harsh it was hardly a booking was it seriously? we have 11 men we go through.
This elimination tops the Leverkusen elimination as the most disappointing one. Especially when you look at how we played in the first 40 minutes. We were brilliant and flawless all over the pitch.
Now we have to pick up the pieces. 3 points on Sunday will be massive. If we get that game (and the hangover of tonight) out of the way, we can win the other 4.
Carrick got a massive knock on the head and wasn’t the same player afterwrads. Rooney fucked his ankle and wasn’t the same player afterwards. A harsh sending off and an absolutely stunning goal. I’m happier losing because of these reasons, than because of the abortion that was our tactitcal plan in the 09 final. No shame in losing after a perfomance like that.
Although Fegie cocked up by playing Rooney. He did bugger all apart from set up Gibbo, and now he could miss the premiership run in.
rooney the new king
why are you talking about Berbatov.. what did he do wrong tonight? he was the last person who could be blamed.. what is your problem? rooney did not set the world alight either.. why not talk about him? berba was surrended by 5 players and didnt get much support something intelligent people can understand as we was playing with 7 tired men (not berba, giggs and vds)
@TheRadLegion
i get that but if liverpool win the Europa league and finish 5th or lower, what happens??
@rubito:
They will drop 2 points against Tottenham and another 3 points against the dipper that I promise you.
… by the way… we were underdogs to Barca in Champions League anyway, it’s better to be out now than lose in the final (.. he tries to find a positive..)
so let’s enjoy the ride in challenging for no.19!
O and SAF please don’t play Rooney vs Blackburn!
tough to go out
absolutely gutted
great game…great fight. mistakes cost us
FOREVER UNITED
screw anyone blaming SAF
@Maik yeah all our attacks came from our wings, correct, but can’t you see Rooney’s role in that tactic? He was SPEARHEADING the attacking line. Without any striker upfront, that tactic is USELESS! You can take one of the wingers out and concentrate the attack on one side only, but taking the striker out without anybody in the middle of the attack is just not going to work in any way.
@marq ok fine i’m a little bit wrong about the half-time line up there. But still the choice made was wrong. If you read Scott’s article again, Scott mentioned that we need to bring Macheda on if anything goes wrong. So something went wrong here (Rafael got sent off), so SAF should have brought Macheda on.
And not Berbatov, because Berbatov is not going to work!
I have the right to criticise SAF, but I still trust him. I hope SAF will learn from this mistake. This year is just not going to be our year. But it’s not Liverpool’s year either hahahaha
Fuck them all, lousy bastards.
@ rtnk
I know its so annoying how casual the twat has become I’m so pissed off at him and its so annoying becos i used to be one of carrick’s biggest fans but his mistakes are becoming too costly, i mean its one thing to be totally ineffective in a game and another thing to keep on putting your team in trouble, on the strenght of today’s performances, Gibbo>Carrick, at least he knows where the goal is
Rooney Is Legend – I agree I have said all season united need another striker, anyone who thinks berbatov macheda welbeck owen is enough yes numbers but they are not good enough to cover the loss of rooney. BUT WE WERE 3 0 UP I CANT BELIEVE IT, THIS WILL EAT AT ME ALL NIGHT LONG
I feel ill
Let me say this
This is why I support this club
Through the face of adversity – people questioned us – we answered them – it was just not to be
Do we stop loving our team?
No
Do we stop believing in them?
No
Do we abandon them?
No
Do we forsake them?
No
We will as we have done – as those before us have done – as those in front of us will do – never ever abandon this beautiful club – we will be forever bound to this club because this is the romance that we have with it. Unbreakable – through anything.
We are not going to make it all the times – I wish we had tonight – but that’s it for now
And Raphael will grow up – and Nani will get better and Gibson will continue to command. And Macheda will learn and players like Ravel Morrison – Petrucci will become the future
We do not fear .
Those that continue to question us will never stop – we will just carry on answering them
Although we are feeling the pain of going out, I’m glad that Fergie played Rafael. This kid is the future, we can see the improvement in our attack with him and Valencia in the right. BTW, how gutted must they feel!
Valencia really played like a monster today, putting himself about everytime. If only Carrick did that.
We should continue to play Rafael on the right, he has so much to offer us.
Proud of our team… like Fergie said a brilliant piece of skill denied us the passage to semis. With a bit of luck one of the earlier chances might have been scored, either Rafael’s or nani’s or gibson’s.
First goal was our fault but second I’m not sure we could have stopped even with 11 men.
We will drown our sorrows tonight, but should be back to give chelski a fight. It could go to goal difference, its a very tight run in. Mistakes will be made I’m sure – we need to stand tall and perform.
Today’s performance was definitely encouraging except the last few minutes when we couldn’t create anything of note, but this team will learn.
I HATE CARRICK!! HE DOESNT DESERVE TO PLAY FOR UNITED!
NANI M.o.M
AHHH IM SOOO ANGRY… SORRY!
we have to buy a top class striker tonight proved it!!!!
it was so sad that we had to rush back rooney from injury! all because bebatoff is so shite.
fergie does not believe him otherwise he would of started him tonight and let rooney recover from his injury
and looks it like rooney made his injury worst!!
show the lazy bastard where the exit is…………..goodbye berba!
RedDevilzAdvocate – berbatov pisses me off that he could not go in there and fill rooneys role, the sad fact is when we lose rooney we dont have that drive but gary neville and rafeal have cost united the tie
3-0…AND WE WENT OUT???????WHAT THE FUCK
carrick was awful tonight,at fault for both goals.dont know what else to say.still in shock.
@Tony Starks
With that i totally agree. Always better to go out at this stage if we do then the semis or lose the finals. those hurt really badly
We need strengthening for next season..we need a replacement for scholes. a player that can control the play. Flethcher and Carrick are great at what they do but we need a creative midfielder. Id like to se us go for Arteta!
@AIG: They will be eligible to enter the champions league if they win it. 5th or lower will win them nothing.
Villa for Man Utd pls … and a commanding CM for the team next season too … anyone thinking about Sneijder? or watever his name is spelt
lawman10 – I cant disagree I would let berbatov go now. I AM SO GUTTED TONIGHT HOW WE WENT OUT ITS NOT LIKE BARCELONA LAST NIGHT WE WERE KNOCKED OUT BY A LUCKY SIDE
Hahahahaha Berbatov is the last player to blame…………………..
Berbatov is a flop. That’s it. I have lost my love in him. He couldnt even force himself into the starting line-up because he is just not good enough. Berbatov shouldnt be blamed, because he doesnt even deserve any single minute of playing time today. Macheda should have been brought on, not Berbatov. SAF gambled when he brought Berbatov on, it just didnt pay off. I hope SAF also has lost his trust in Berbatov, and start trusting Macheda more instead.
I have to agree with Lawman 10 – I like Berbatov but he clearly isnt up to it for us if we can’t have faith in a £32m striker and have to rush Rooney back… That’s a lot of cash for a player who’s backup. You can give me stats all you want but the reality is the team doesn’t have the same power and pace with him in it and for that amount of money we could/should and would do better.
@Costas
thats where your wrong about your earlier post.. it was carrick’s fault for the second goal as their attack came after he got muscled off the ball cheaply…
carrick is shite
rafael is class
simple.. never a sending off.. like someone said.. two tackles two cards?.. specially at the start of the half and with the bayern players asking for red.. FUCKINGS CHEATS
WE GOT SCREWED AGAIN… simple
RTNK – How can you blame Berbatov, he came on for the last 10 minutes what do you expect him to do in that time. Ribery, i don’t want that bastard at our club, let the cunt go to Madrid and enjoy the sun. Gibbo proud of you son, written off by some fans, but you put Carrick to shame tonight and yes i’m drunk.
@tobbe says
Allright you’re SORRY then PISS OFF !
cantona7 – well he should be blamed that he could not be trusted to go in there to give rooney a break, christ what really frustrates to fucking death is we had to rush rooney back because the back up is not up to scratch.
i don’t care if berbatov stays or leaves the club at the end of the season .. what i know is that SAF needs to sign another world class striker to partner Rooney … I don’t wanna spend the next season sweating on Rooney’s fitness due to him being our ONLY main striker
That’s it, I give up on this team and SAF. Pathetic performance tonight highlighted by Carrick and Rafael. Bayern looked spectacular without even trying. Not even a fit Rooney could have helped us. You can deny it all you want and applaud the “lad’s” effort but in our hearts we know it’s b*llshit.
Berba bashing underway,
Goodnight from me.
the fact that SAF was prepared to play such an unfit rooney and still keep him on in that state shows what he thinks of our striker alternatives when it matters most.. but i don’t forsee any moves in the summer in that area…
willierednut – read my comment I said he could not go in there instead of rooney and do a job, the sad fact is fergie had to rush rooney back because the backup could not be trusted
Silly, stupid mistakes cost us this tie. The Olic goal in Munich, Carrick and Rafa’s mistakes today, these were mental lapses not signs of lacking quality. We played our hearts out in the first half and the team should be applauded for that. We will come back stronger but we clearly have depth issues to address. United will come back stronger and more determined than ever, of that I am sure. Now, it is time to turn the screws on the rest of the league
UNITED FOREVER
P.S. I can’t see Fergie possibly retiring after a defeat like that. This hopefully makes him hungrier than ever for European glory.
Absolutely gutted!! We didn’t deserve that. The game was lost in the first half, conceding a soft goal when we were so much on top and Rafaels first booking. I knew Ribery would get at him at some point, so he was playing on a knife edge after that. Saying that though, his second was never a yellow and you can only think the ref was influenced by those German t**ts.
Lads,
performance – 9 out of 10
ref performance – 4 out of 10
Uniteds worst player – Carrick. ….. my most hated united player ever!
Reason for the loss………. Sending off which was very cery harsh!
My main worry and main concern is performance, we had a performance tonight. we didnt deserve the result! It was a very very harsh sending off. It was a cracking goal from robben. Bayern did play well dontget me wrong. They Scored a deflected goal in the first leg, an injury time winner as well. The ref was slightly biased tonight maybe he is married to a german i dont know……..
Anyhow.. Im happy! The lads did me proud! They put in good effort, If honest i dont think we could have asked for more!
Fuck of you surrey and london manc wankers. You are a one man team and you were outclassed by Bayern tonight… OUTCLASSED….it’s the end of an era… HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA
BAYERN WERE FUCKING WORLD CLASS
@costas – do you think SAF trusts Berbatov enough in big games? (I like the guy so am not bashing him!)… a player needs the managers confidence!
@willierednut says
you know i started reading your post and i thought, Yep this guys a wasted. But you summed it up i guess
outclassed? is this cunt for real?
totally of key united have agreed to sign a mexican striker ( he has had his pre signing medical)
fact!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Tony Starks – exactly and how can any united fan not see this, these PPL should be questioning and be very concerned that fergie had to rush a half fit rooney not even half fit when both macheda and berbatov were fit fresh and ready to go. I am really concerned that fergie had to rush rooney back. but I still cant believe we went out tonight WE WERE 3 0 UP FOR CHRIST SAKE
Its hardly Berbatov bashing to expect a £32 m player to be able to play if our other lead striker is injured is it ? We can all identify his obvious skill and technique but the fact is Fergie doesn’t have faith in his ability to integrate into our system or he would just play him more often, this is a crazy situation to be in but to be fair he can’t be blamed for the loss. It’s just crazy for us to be in a position where our squad simply isnt good enough to cover for an injury to Wazza. Berbatov is a marque signing and if he’s not getting into the team in big big matches something is horribly wrong.
@Tony Starks
You know i have defended berbatov quite a bit and have openly said im giving him till the end of the season!
he hasnt performed, never looks like performing.
The bayern Strike Olic i rate above berbatov as he puts in the same effort as Rooney, Not as skillfull but i recon he would trouble defenders more than berbatov!
Who cares if he can control a ball no one else can, Who cares if he can hold onto the ball skillfully more than anyone else in the world!…….. What use is these qualities if you have poor goal and assist ratio!!!
he will become a usefull squad player when we need to give rooney a rest!.. I rate Owen higher than berbatov.. Owen is more a threat in my eyes!
Ronney – shut the fuck up tell me the score before united shot themselves in the foot, bayern were outclassed and it took a hughe amount of luck to knock united out
@rooney the new king yup i agree with you. And i also agree with your name. Today, it clearly shows that whoever with the armband is just Rooney’s assistant. Rooney is the real captain of our team now, whether SAF approves it or not. Rooney’s sheer presence lifted our team, we played like we were possessed until Rooney started to limp.
@Rooney Is Legend, I want Berbatov sold because I want his place for somebody else. He is taking up Macheda’s place. It is time for us to start playing 4-4-2 with Macheda and Rooney upfront.
gizmoj – no one is blaming him but we are saying why IN THE FUCK DID FERGIE RUSH ROONEY BACK WHO WAS NOT READY TO START, THERE IS THAT SAYING IT IS TIME TO COLLECT AND THAT GOES FOR OUR OTHER STRIKERS
RTNK – Of course he risked Rooney, he’s fucking scored 34 goals this season. The ref and cheating bastard players of Bayern are to blame, because we were brillant tonight and should have went through. Fuck Robben to cocksucker had to a brillant goal.
lets not forget berbatoff been at united for 2 seasons now!
how much more time does he need? hate to say it but fergie cocked up with this fella.
Lds,
With regards to Gibson……… He is one of the younger players people seem to hate! I thought tonight he did well!… he scored but that aside!
His energy levels were good
His pressureizeing the bayern midfield and defence was good
His passing ok
Fair play to the lad!
Fletch did ok to with effort, passing and the rest!
Carrick…….Why do i dislike him? Why do i keep cringing when his name is on the team sheet!…….. Cause i know he should only be a squad player!…….
Most of us are really upset and disappointed but lets remember that afterall we are all United fans. So lets get off each others backs.Everyone has an opinion and if we dont agree we should not start slagging that person.Every person thinks differently.I too have said things many people here will not like
I am sure all of us will feel better when we wake up tomorrow and our anger will subside
Good night everyone
Everyone
We still could have had a player on the line went Robben scored
Thats what we didnt do – and someone should have stepped up
Still proud – it was one of those nights – and again I am sorry Raf sent off was no sending off – not even a yellow card – in that position how many times have you seen a yellow card given for a tug of a shirt – it wasn’t as if Ribery was clear or anything – buckle up got a title to win
cantona7 -PPL will stick up for him but I will question the fact that a rooney was 20% fit in my book, this is the first time I have seen fergie rush a player back. 9 times out of 10 fergie has full confidence in all his players but has soon has rooney was limping fergie as worryed. I will still say the fact that fergie 20% physically ready was better starting than a macheda or berbatov anyone try and counter my argument feel free to do so but I want PPL to give me a more constructive view why I am wrong.
just as long SAF signs a world class striker and a world class CM i would be more than happy …
just hope that next season we will win the UCL … EPL here we come …. watch out rentboyz
Well – that’s me done, I am sure to have nightmares about Carrick again and I can’t honestly say I’ve disliked a Man Utd player as much since Djemba Djemba – the boys played well but you have to think what we’d be like with a midfielder like Snejider instead of Carrick and just about anyone who can run instead of Berbatov – that combined with a RB who’s not too old or too young and we’d be fine..
Roll on the weekend – the league is still up for grabs
Slim – Yes mate i’m slightly drunk and fucking gutted, but you know what we’ll be back next season, like a mofo. I expect to see rival fans on ROM gloating about our defeat, but i say fuck em all.
Rooney the New King – I totally agree with you mate and didn’t think people were “blaming” Berbatov but you are right – we shouldn’t have to rush Rooney back with £32m of striker on the bench – no arguements from me on that one
RTNK
Maybe because of psychology… Maybe he rushed him back for the fear in bayern eyes.. maybe he just inteded to play him a little bit.. and then put in kiko and berba. It seemed to work, although rooney didnt have his best game.
@Ronney
Fuck off let me kiss you we are proud of our team – we went down fighting for it – who the fuck are you – nobody so get off the blog
Bayern world class? More like fucking lucky class – maybe the linesman that ruled their goal onside when it was offside against Fiorentina at the AA was the gay lover of the linesman Beck that let your team win – is that why you are here?
Fucking cheats – so fuck off
willierednut – why not use berbatov or macheda, they were fresher physically they were in better shape, fergie has never rushed a player back remember when rooney first came he made sure he was ready. still someone has to explain why did fergie seemed to think a 20% fit rooney was better than starting berbatov or macheda.
Well lads im off!… Although disapointed .. lets all blame the ref! HAHAHA
We performed! bayern performed and to be honest we did them in the champions league final when they were the better team! Mayve they ahve got their own back!
There is no way in hell they are beating barca!
while we are all venting – may I say that I’m sick of everyone calling it bayern’s revenge over us… they did that at 2001 when they eliminated us. How many times will they keep saying that….arrrrgh.
Finally, oh I do hate Ribery.
@rtnk – that is the question i would love to ask fergie
please people this is not Berba bashing so don’t start that
Carrick…berba out for 30m
i cant fuckin believe we lost .. 3-0 up and fuckin cruising .. thought nani put alot of doubters to bed with turning up in a big game .. and delighted gibson played well ..
carrick is gone seriously off the boil .. and really thought macheda shuda played a part in tonights game ! .. wen berbatov came on and i had no belief that he was gonna change the game..
in a state of shock!
sprite – but he was not ready to be starting he had an average game yes his precence was felt but still he was not ready when we had berbatov and macheda, yes in heinsite but I am frustrated and gutted in how we went off.
carrick is another who is having an awful season. it is so frustrating that we went out because of ourselves, WE WERE 3 0 FUCKING UP HOW THE FUCK ARE WE OUT
@AIG i cant sleep because i am so disappointed… Have a good sleep mate..
I maybe am blaming SAF for the loss tonight, but i think it shows that i trust Fergie more than some of you here. Berbatov is not playing as much as a marquee signing should have, not because Fergie is not ready to integrate him into our system, but simply because Fergie thinks he is not good enough to be our playmaker/starter.
It was a game of two halves tonight. We where in total control until the red card. Sloppy defending cost us two goals over the two legs. The lads done well tonight considering the circumstances but that doesn’t change how gutted i am.
One other thing i have to add is the fans in the stadium tonight sounded unbelievable. From the first whistle to the end of the game they backed the team all night long , at least thats what it sounded like from the pub i was watching the game from in the USA, well done to all those who created an amazing atmosphere. Its because of fans like this MAN UTD WILL NEVER DIE..
Oh well, we ran out of luck. Thought the boys played their heart out. Gotta stop slacking them. We got the tactic wrong, and BOOM, everything came right on the face. I’m pretty sure SAF will get the boys settle down, and get over this disappointment. It hurts, i know, but my oh my we fought hard didn’t we ? It was just not quite there. The Manchester United haters just can’t stop hating us, cause we’re better, not arrogant. And what a night it has been. Cheer up boys, we gonna win the fucking league now !!
Tony Starks – exactly but like you said we are asking to play a rooney 20% fit was a better option than starting macheda or berbatov, still I CANT BELIEVE WE WERE 3 0 UP AND WE ARE OUT CAN SOMEONE TELL ME WHAT WERE THE ODDS AT OT WE WOULD BE OUT IT IS A FUCKING MYSTERY, WE HAVE HAD NO LUCK WHAT SO EVER
I will agree about Carrick RTNK
berba cant do anything if the midfield can’t support him OR when SAF doesn’t pick him … don’t bash him but IMO i do think that SAF made a mistake buying him … could have used that amount of money to get a striker far quicker den berba …
i see that so many people blaming berba for this loss, well he certainly does not have any chance to proves himself today but I agree that he is not united class. he has brilliant control and skill but maybe united is not meant for him. what else could you say when your main striker is injured and you have a 100% fit, 30.5 million striker but choose to play ‘the not even 50% fit striker’. Yes, rooney appearance might cause some psychological impact on our opponents but i think we should start at least an injury free player. berba might have few magical moments but if you watch all of his goals from last season, most of them is just a simple tap in goal(which any striker could score) and he has quite some sitter too. anyway, i’m not asking berba to go but we do need another reliable striker who can play upfront by himself. I’m not putting united in the same group with other big clubs but if you observe other big teams, they have at least 2 reliable strikers/forwards. i.e chelsea (drogba, anelka, kalou), bayern (gomez, olic, klose), barca(ibra, messi, henry, bojan). I’m not saying that owen and macheda not good but owen are having problem with fitness and already 30, kiko is just 18 and lacking experience. both of them cannot shoulder united’s hope and dream at the moment like rooney did.
p/s: this is just my opinions, i only want the best for my beloved club and of course I trust Fergie will make the best decisions!!!
Why did saf play Rooney from the start, Berba 12 goals, Kiko 1 goal and Rooney 34 goals.
@rooney the new king
Before the game there was a lot of debate of gambleing with Rooney. When i last looked it was 60 – 40 in favour of risking rooney tonight!
Lets concentrate before rooney went over on his ankle!.. He was moving freely, got involved in the play very well and linked up for one of the goals!.. Couldnt ask for more!
Rooney then went over on his ankle which as most will say is highly probable when you ahve had that injury as your mussles dont react to reverse the twist as well. The ligs are a little stretched and everything in that area is not as tight and strong! That was a turning point!
Was rooney worth the gamble..From the performance i honestly say yes!
Why do i say that… Looking at the league!. We have a slim chance now of winning the leaugh.. Lets face it! Champions league we were including tonights game 3 games away from a champions league final!
In the champions league final anything can happen!
Lets not forget we went into the Champions league final against Bayern munich in 1999 without Paul Scholes and Roy Keane…. both legends and both badly missed! We were 100% not the better team on the night, Bayern should have pummled us! Did they! no. we won 2-1 haha… Thats football!
FERGIE WILL SCRATCH HIS HEAD AND SAY HOW THE FUCK DID WE GO OUT TONIGHT, one man who is now a man is LUIS NANI this guy has gone from a show clown to be one of the deadliest players in world football. NANI is one of the best wingers in world football now he is nw a man
Why is everyone having a go at Carrick? Ok, not his best game, he might have got out-muscled for the first goal, but why was he the one marking their striker, cos Rio and Vida were nowhere to be seen. The second goal was all round bad defending from their corner. We fell foul to some bad refereeing AGAIN and just bad luck. We were brilliant in the first half, every player was.
@aimanunited
absolutely agree that Fergie will make the best decisions
lets win the PL this season and sign some world class players to make us the cream of Europe once again!
trevor – maybe it was a gamble but still it does raise huge questions what is wrong with the backup.
aimanunited – no one is blaming berbatov, but we could use the nani factor if berbatov was given confidence he may have been a far better player.
BUT POSITIVE WE WERE SENSATIONAL NO COMPLAINTES FOR, WE FUCKING HAMMERED THIS AVERAGE LOT, AND WE WERE KNOCKED OUT BY RAFEAL AND GARY NEVILLE COSTING US THE GAME, RAFEAL GETTING SENT OFF AND ROBBEN SCORING A SCREAMER
@RTNK
Agreed. I’m gutted for him. He ran his ass off and almost passed out from exhaustion when taking the corner only to see his efforts undone by silly mistakes.
sorry gary neville and rafeals stupid decisions cost us bith games, neville hand balling which lead to ribery scoring the free kick and rafeal getting sent off, IT IS SO GUTTING WE WERE PICK POCKETED AND CHRIST WAS RAFEAL’S FIRST BOOKING EVEN A YELLOW NO FUCKING WAY
I love berbatov by the way
@RTNK one of the main reason we lost today was the ref. If he could send Rafael off like that, he should have sent van Bommel off in the first half. Van Buyten also escaped a yellow card when his kick from behind on Rooney’s knee was obviously worthy of a card. Valencia suffered so many fouls, but his offenders get away just like that. F*cking gutted with the ref.
I STILL CANT BELIEVE THAT WE WERE KNOCKED OUT BY LUCK NOT A BIT OF LUCK A INSANE AMOUNT OF LUCK, IN TERMS OF SHOOTING OURSELVES IN THE FOOT, ROBBEN SCORING A SCREAMER AND WE LET A LAST MINUTE GOAL BEAT US IN THE FIRST LEG, LIKE FERGIE SAID THE BAYERN SHIT EATERS WANTED TO GET RAFEAL SENT OFF. I STILL THINK WE BATTERED THIS LOT SO FUCKING GUTTED
cantona7 – DID U NOTICE THAT RAFEAL MADE 2 CHALLENGES AND HE WAS OFF, THE REF WAS GOOD AND AWFUL, I REALLY THOUGHT MACHEADA WOULD BE THE ACE IN THE HOLE TONIGHT.
I can’t really fault the performance overall tonight, apart from Michael Carrick who has all the strength of a 6 year old girl to get knocked over by a bloke half his size, and then as per usuall standing on the ball and getting caught in possesion which led to the corner that Bayern scored from, but the sad thing is I have become accustomed to Michael Carrick wanting too much time on the ball and losing possesion, he is truly awful.
Rafael was brilliant in that first half, but the lad needs to stop holding onto players when chasing back. I know it’s a heat of the moment thing, but Fergie needs to have a word with him about this if he hasn’t all ready because he’s done it before. I’m certain we would have gone through with 11 men. Gutted.
We have to pick our selfs up and move on to Blackburn now. We have to respond.
We have to pick our selfs up and
Why are you guys blaming on Rafael ? The boy did friggin well. He outplayed Ribery in every sector. Unit that very moment. It didn’t even worth a yellow card. Saw the replay, Ribery even elbowed him off. And the provoked the Italian referee to sent the boy off. Rafael did a wonder for us. Ribery took him out of the game. Shame on Ribery to do such thing. He cant beat the boy, so he make sure the boy get a red. UP RAFAEL UP UNITED !
Positive points?
Nani’s performance- two great finishes and he really is turning it on it big games too. Shame he didnt start against Chelsea at the weekend.
Valencia too – very dangerous down the right wing and who knows how many goals we’d score with two strikers in the box?
Rafael – what can I say, you cant fault the lad for playing with heart. He adds a fantastic attacking dimension down the right but the writing was on the wall after the first half yellow and his do or die attitude
To be fair we’ve not been at our best this season and I dont think I could face another loss to Barca in the final which off our recent form and Barca/Messi’s was probably on the cards
and at the risk of sounding controversial… I try to keep upbeat whenever we now lose in the knowledge that it is one step closer to getting the Glazers out of our club for good.
Unlucky lads, we were quick out of the blocks and started fantastically, lets keep our heads up and win all the remaining league games – Chelsea WILL drop points!
Carrick was unlucky, in Europe the refeere will blow up for the slighteset of touches and award a free kick, this seamed to be the case for everyone but Carrick tonight, I would argue that the refeere should of blow for a foul for Bayerns goal, because Carrick was infront of Olic, also when we lost posestion for there Corner, it looked like a foul on Carrick for him to loose the ball,
look at some of the free kicks Ribrey was getting, minimal contact, why not the same for Carrick ?
Also I would like to add that challenge on Eto that get a red card was identical to the one on Valencia, why no Red this time ?
So so frustrating. 40 fucking great minutes and then another lapse of concentration costs us another goal. All we needed to do was get to half time at 3 – 0 and we would of won.
Carrick was fucking dreadful. I used to love him and always supported him even when plenty of people told me he wasn’t good enough. Sadly over the last season and a half I’ve just lost all faith in him, he has no presence at all, he just sits back doing 20 yrd passes, compare him to Xavi and it shows there is such a huge difference in quality. He came as CM who could pull the strings for us, now sadly all he does is play as a DM for 95% of the time.
Rafael, what can I say, showed once again attacking he’s great at such a young age but defending he’s still got a hell of a lot to learn. Twice now he’s been sent off due to stuff you’d learn not to do when you were 12. I’ve been saying it for a long time and we really do need a right back who’s the equivalent of Evra who Rafael can learn from.
Gibson I was impressed with, took his goal well and he did well throughout, always quick on the ball and never seemed to get caught out, always tried to get forward as well which Carrick never did. If he continues to improve I think he could well have a very bright future at the club, you never know maybe even that Scholes replacement we’ve been looking for for so long.
Berbatov you can’t really complain about tonight, although it does show such a lack of faith from Fergie in him. He simply can’t play upfront alone, sadly I think we will buy a top striker in the summer so i’m not sure how this will work for Berba.
Read Fergie’s comments about summer spending and only needing to tweak area’s, mine would be a LM, CM and ST. My ideal signings; LM; Modric, Di Maria, Da Silva. CM; Hamsik, Gourcuff, (any top creative MF). ST: Benzema, Dzeko, Villa. Yes i’m getting a little OTT but I can hope. Good chance of signing Rodwell for the future and also Joe Cole on a free.
We could of quite easily been talking about a great win tonight, sadly we aren’t so we need to forget about it and get behind the team to win the league. Chelsea have got City and Liverpool still, can see them fucking up at both. Regroup and win on Sunday and we still have a great opportunity to win the league.
@ rooney and was he not just Magnifcent, I was so pleased for Nani, and you mate when you were on and unijured put the fear of shite into them, they physically grow when they saw yer ankle tweak.
I thought all boys did us fucking proud, yes we are out and its a bitter pill to swalllow.
Now like our other agressors for the 4th in a row,we are on a even playing field.
But from where I sit i shout to all the lads THANK YOU , you gave a magnificent feast of football.
Until wee Rafael was booked and double booked by that………….. he had run him fucking ragged. Do you recognise this boy is gonna be a top top Right back in the world.
Dinnae slag of Dimatar , THE man was on for 17 minutes.
Believe just you got do if yer not Red yer dead
was rafeal’s first card even a booking, rafeal made 2 fouls and he had 2 yellow cards did anyone notice that
eleventh heaven – Agree, Rafael had Ribery in his pocket. But, his booking in the first half was for a petulant kick out that he didn’t need to do, the minute he did that he was always gonna be under pressure. He didn’t deserve a second yellow for that challenge, as I said before, I think the ref was influenced by the bayern players appeals.
Hey guys? Costas, buddy, are you here ?
We all love this club but i just can not understand how can one find the words to describe what happened today. I don’t want to pronounce any names, i am just proud to be a member of this wonderful blog.
@shebangsthedrums
Why is everyone having a go at Carrick? Because the bloke can’t run and yet he seems to be first on the team cheat in the centre of United’s midfield. Can anyone on this site say with all honesty that they have ever seen Carrick sprint???? Ever????? exactly
How can someone with such limited passing ability, who can’t run, demand a place in United’s centre midfield, it’s very sad! But for some reason Fergie sees something in him that no one else does.
my worry now is……………………..who the fuck do play at blackburn kiko/berbatoff now we need to pray!
lets finish the season with 5 wins come on you reds!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
redscot – I WILL NEVER KNOW HOW WE WENT OUT TONIGHT WE WERE 3 FUCKING 0 UP. no one is blaming him but PPL are asking we had options in berbatov and macheda yet he went with a rooney 20% fit. I still think he got that wrong rooney was not ready and it showed
We did batter them.. too bad about the away goal rule. Rafael I love you my son but shame on you.. you know better than that, Ribery wasn’t going anywhere in midfield.. he can fuck off to Madrid that scar-faced twat. By the way, that ref was an absolute COCK. For those of you bashing berbs for our demise today.. fuck off. UTD FOREVER!
Corea – I CANNOT BELIEVE IT I WILL NEVER KNOW HOW THE FUCK THAT GERMAN NAZI LOT ARE THROUGH
ok a point on referees in general…. the inconsistency is just so annoying… to me it seems like refs just do things at random – its just about luck whether a decision will go for or against you…
a tackle will be given as a foul, but the same tackle will not be foul a few seconds later… wouldn’t it be so amazing if refs were like robots that didn’t make inconsistent decisions!
I bet Carrick got the hairdryer on full blast yet again. I wouldn’t be surprised if he was sold in the summer, along with Berbatov. Classy players alright but they don’t have the mentality to be truly world class. They’re too soft – and Fergie hates that in players.
like all united fans, manager, coaches and players…gutted. we were the better team without question.
where did it all go wrong from being 3-0 up?
at key moments we didn’t see the game out, as they say when you score a goal THATs when you are
really vulnerable. i just thought going 3-0 up we were in control. but just like when we played AC Milan
at the San Siro, when we were 3-1 up, and in TOTAL control, we concede a last minute goal then it could have ended up 3-3, given the chances Milan had late on.
there are key things SAF, the players and coaching staff need to take out from this game and the previous one if they want United (which they all do) to go on and win the Champions League trophy next year.
1 – Not to loose heart
Whilst this will take a lot to get out of their system, I believe that from this hard lesson the team will
get great strength.
2 – Young players gaining experience
such as Gibson, Rafael and, KIko will be a lot more wiser when playing in these games.
Plus the likes of Cleverley and Obertan will be eager to show what they can do in big games.
3 – Experienced players back
Anderson , Hargreaves and Brown will be back, so we do have a stronger spine.
now everyone will slag of Rafael, and yes the first booking was petulant and he will learn from this.
BUT… when we played Bayern in the first leg, which United player, with vast experience raised his hand to give away a free kick, which then resulted in Bayern getting a lucky deflection to score?
GARY NEVILLE!
Also, which – who plays in midfield, instead of clearing the ball out for a corner, gets shoved off by Olic and exposes VDS and the player scores?
MICHAEL CARRICK
The reason why we won it in 2008, was that we had a player who had tactical intelligence in midfield. who KNEW how to play and what to do.
OWEN HARGREAVES.
Obviously he’s been injured a long time, and whilst we’ve scored goals we have become easier
to score against.
i just think that it’s not doom and gloom. this team is going to challenge and win many Champions
League trophies , cups and EPL titles. Of course there’s no guarantee or divine right, as other
teams will spend money on players and strengthen. but i believe this United team will grow stronger in Europe and at home.
again, when we won in Europe 2008, we hardly conceded any goals. i remember the 1-1 draw away to Lyon, then 0-0 at Inter, then we beat them 2-0 at home. then playing Barca, we held them 0-0 at their ground, missing a penalty too. and then winning 1-0 at OT.
SAF, will learn that when we play open and at a high tempo, no team can live with us. but we also need to learn that when the pace does slow down and the other team has possession, we really need to be switched on.
we didn’t loose because Bayern were better, because they weren’t. we lost because, we didn’t see
out a game where we were 3-0 up after 40 minutes.
it was the mental side of the game being 3-0 up. knowing that the game wasn’t a sprint but marathon in terms of CONTROLLING the pace of the game – fast to slow and vice versa.
for example, Robben was Bayerns most dangerous player, yet MICHAEL CARRICK or no other United player didn’t think that he should be marked when he’s hanging outside of our penalty area?
i think it was Fletcher or Carricks job to ensure Robben and Ribery didn’t get any sniffs at goal.
two seasons ago that just wouldn’t have happened. look, when they look back and analyse the game, they will see this as plain as day.
tonight we lost the battle, but not the war.
@RTNK yup just two, and he’s is off. Poor Rafael, but it’s a good lesson from him. The ref is so stupid… arghh.. so obviously bias.. hurm..
Actually i am amazed how people can blame Carrick. I was suprised to see him there trying to block Olic. For Carrick to be there instead of Rio/Vidic is impressive. But Ivica Olic is a very good striker, strong and most important, his determination rivals that of Rooney. I wish we can have a player like him.
RTNK – Saf has said Rooney’s ankle is ok, so stop going on about for fucksake. No english clubs in the semi – finals for 7 years.
@ lawman on the Nail, at Blackburn, Come on you Reds we can do this, one United.
ffs no praying thats for Sunday during the week i let aff steam and passion.
get behind the lads, shout like you mean no deafitists shit, right?
Come on believe all is not lost, We can do this
Totally Gutted guys but cann’t Fault the team at all. Nani was outstanding tonight I think the best I’ve ever seen him play. At 3-0 Utd were through but yet again a lapse and Bayern were back. Rafeal played Ribery so well but that big nosed fucker was looking for free kicks all night He can piss of to Madrid. With comments like Ronneys well who said Neaderthals were extinct.
NEVER DIE!
Well said, Tarmy and Redscot – I don’t think we can (or should) fault anyones performance tonight. We were brilliant with eleven men and should be proud of our players, they gave everything and should have got more.
willierednut – you cant believe what fergie always has to say, he gambled and it did not work out, rooney was not ok he was limping after 20 minutes yes he may had to walk but he was not ready he was gambled because the backup could not be trusted
Corea – Costas got sick of the Berba bashing, so he cleared off.
Nice post KVN.
@cantona7 – We have, Rooney. We need another striker that Fergie has faith in and would be prepared to play in big games. That and a player that plays a quarterback role such as Xavi and we’d be sorted.
willierednut – no everyone is questioning the fact that berbatov or macheda should have started, rooney made a bit of impact but he was not ready I dont care what fergie says rooney was not ready
@rooney the new king – cheers pal. let me have my rant and i will go to bed.
when we scored the third i was still sitting tight. i thought about the Roma game right after we had scored the second goal, of course! After that 2nd goal i was saying to a mate of mine that we might run out of steam. when Olic scored i was sure Fergie would opt for a defensive strategy but we were a shade of the team that had played during the first half. i can’t believe we would have played this passive even playing 10 against 11 if not for the fatigue.
Please, guys. Don’t single out players. Tomorrow will be another day. Love you all. Sorry for not beeing at OT. I didn’t hear what the atmosphere was like today at OT. But here in my country i was left without support straight after we were left in minority.
RTNK – Yes, i do believe him, he’s knows more about it than we do.
Fucking Germans….. and Italians!
The desicion to send off Rafael was very harsh and entirely changed the game. If it hadn’t happened we probably would of subbed off Rooney and Carrick for Kiko and Berba, and scored for fun!
Nani played superbly tonight! It’s a shame he won’t get to enjoy it
32 million is alot to ask for a player. But he was of proven premiership and international pedigree. He just doesn’t fit into that swash buckiling fire in your belly type football that we love. I personally think he definately has his part to play for united. Although not the part that 32 million says your going to have. In coming to united i think he’s lost some of that ego and arrogance he had a tottenham
As we know, yet often forget, it takes a good squad to win the trophies we as fans demand. We don’t have a strong one at the moment. We’re lacking everywhere!
Upfront is obvious we need another reliable striker. Not nessecarily world class, but someone who knows his way about the box. Someone who can put them in the back of the net with decent service. Someone who’s not gonna stunt the growth of our promising young lads.
Midfield i reckon david silva would be lovely, put him on the wing, use him as an attacking midfielder. Very creative and gives us a few different options.
I do think in fletcher anderson and hopefully his return goes well hargreaves we’ve plenty of hustle and control deep in the midfield.
Defence i like. We aren’t too shabby there i don’t think rb is a bit of a worry but after his performance tonight rafeal has got it. He was outstanding. If brown could capture the form he had there what was it 08? F*ck we’d be alright. It’s the midfields inability to get hold of the big teams when we don’t have possession messes shit up for me.
We’ve a fucking great team. Fucking great. We lost two massive players in the summer and dismiss eithers importance if you like. We didn’t replace them. Yet here we are.
We can’t win everything every year. Although we try. We continue to try from here. We continue to support our team everyone of them.
Atleast we have a team of players who want to be there. We just have to trust in thier desire and that comes from us. And trust in fergie to keep us going until its time to freshen up.
LUHG
How the fuck could you start Kiko in a match of this importance, Rooney was fucking fit, he just went over on the same ankle.
willierednut – we may go in cyrcles but fergie got this one wrong, yes we were 3 0 up and how we just switched off and rafeal once again prone to getting booked. Berbatov needs confidence look at NANI he has ben given the faith and he is sensational, and how is this going to help the poor sod if he is deemed not reliable, if I was berbatov I would be so angry with fergie that he would think a half fit wayne rooney is more useful than berbatovs talents. I felt sorry for berbatov that he was not deemed reliable to start when rooney was still not ready
yup Fergie lost so many gambles today:
1) trying to park the bus in front of our goal with 4-6-0 formation and let Bayern lay a siege on our goal
2) playing Berbatov to get a goal when the pressure is so immense
3) Playing Rafael, the inexperienced young fullback instead of Gary Neville, the experienced fullback who cost us one goal with his stupid handball in the first leg
Wow we are very weak at RB now.. Gary too old, Rafael too young, OShea not 100% fit, Brown injured..
Ah, fuck it. Nothing left to lose now.
Team for Blackburn:
Kuszczak; O’Shea, Rio, Vidic, Fabio; Valencia, Fletcher, Gibson, Nani; Berbatov, Macheda.
erm we DO NOT need ” another striker that Fergie has faith in”, instead we need ” a striker who can force himself into the lineup”, like Rooney. We need a striker that is so good that Fergie would prefer to partner him with Rooney instead of playing Rooney alone upfront
cantona7 – FERGIE will wait whatever it takes for rafeal to become the reguler, I am happy at RB and when rafeal is ready like nani ronaldo rooney they are worth their waiting goal. But one player despite what I said about the CF position is berbatov, how would anyone feel if you were berbatov and fergie thinks fergie rooney who needed time to get physically ready how would you feel I would be furious if I was berbatov.
@ Gary – I don’t htink you can accuse Carrick of not having any passing ability. He’s one of the best passers we’ve got, he’s got a great range of passing. The only thing he lacks, is goals and the ability to make runs into the box.
RTNK yeah i would be furious too, but you can only blame yourself because you had two seasons to prove your worth. Fergie has already put his faith in you when he bought you for 30m+
RTNK – SAF played Rooney because he was fit mate, don’t let on you know more than the manager.
@shebangsthedrum – the main thing the gormless, slack-jawed gobshite lacks is a set of bollocks. There’s no room for shrinking violets at United but once again in a big game Carrick’s arse went.
Ferd – That’s harsh, his confidence has definitely been effected this season, but who’s to say he won’t return to form next season. Nobody moaned about him prior to the champs league final last year and he wasn’t the only one who didn’t turn up that day. What do they say, form’s temporary, class is permanant.
willierednut – hey sorry for some of the comments THIS RESULT HAS EATING ME ALIVE I CANT BELIVE WE WERE 3 0 UP AND NOW UNITED ARE OUT AND IT WAS AT OT
Well his form has been pretty shite all season. Such a shame because he is such a classy, elegant passer of the ball and used to provide a few “champagne moments” like the goals against Roma and the crucial winner against Wigan last season. A player of his talents, playing for Man United, should have that confidence, that swagger, that arrogance dare I say. He’s obviously the type who needs the carrot, not the stick. Well I don’t think Fergie has any carrots for him, in fact I think Fergie feels more like to putting him out to pasture!
Gutted…great performance by the lad and great tactical display by Sir Alex though……
I do not blame Rafael for the sending off, he is young and inexperienced…He had ribery in his back pocket for the whole 50 minutes while he was on. Valencia look better with Rafael behind him. This is a good experience for the lad at this very young age. He got talent, no doubt about that. Ribery came back to life right after Rafael sending off…that is enough proof for me how good Rafael is.
The big let down wasn’t the red card. It was Carrick performance. For fuck sake, even Gibson played better than Carrick. I know people will slate me for pointing this out….but if you look carefully each time Bayern threaten us it was the results of Carrick’s mistakes. Cant hold the ball, sloppy passing and giving away too much position in the midfield area.
The truth is Carrick let SAF down, let the team down, let the OT’s crowd down and let us all down…he need to take a good look of his performance this season and decide whether he is good enough to wear our proud jersey.
Well done to Bayern for taking full advantage of the situation. On another day, it could be an easy win to us. Hope EPL tittle will make up for this lost, but we still have a lot to do and hope Liverfool will do us a favor. If we had Hargreaves, Fletch and Ando in 3 main midfield…if…if…if…too many ifs on my mind right now. Our story of the season…what a bumpy ride……..
@ Cantonas……..” thats proof for me how good Rafael is” on the spot mate. just Believe its work in progress to hold down for 50 minutes one of the meant to be top left wingers in the world(50millon ) in some quarters. We have a fantastic star in our grasp, just needs honed like any youngster.
Well said m8
