Highest finish: 6th in League Two (2009-2010)

Man Utd News 24/7

It’s perfectly setup for one of those Carling Cup fairytales. The unknown League Two side takes on the most powerful club in English football. David vs Goliath in essence.
Who’s placing their money on an upset?
Who’s their mascot?
I know it’s the perfect opportunity for a run out of our young lads – need to have faith in them that they’ll not throw away this comfortable draw
They have a small ground! Are they allowed to play at Old Trafford rather? They could probably use the money. Surely they don’t fancy their chances, even at home? Our youngsters, marshaled by Berbenbauer and Owen should tear them apart.
This is my dream tie. My home town club taking on my team the week my old man visiting from Manchester! Just hope we can get tickets in the away end.
mikeyg2310 – You can watch them train, and video their tactics! Be our undercover agent!
Balaji – Get the books out my friend and start reading!
@Smartalex. I’d love to haha! I’ve not been to see the Shots in years. My fiance is understanding when it comes to United (to the point she does come with me to Old Trafford) but she draws the line at spending the weekend in in Aldershot as it is a bit of a dump!
Howard Webb has had a backhander
Blatant foul on Saha, right on the edge of the area.
@ mikeyg2310 – If she knows you’re on a mission, she’ll play along as your Mata Hari!
Look at that Mr. Potato Head cunt David Platt.
this sud be lyk an exhibition match for manchester united. Wel am nt riding any team off

Oops, wrong thread
Dean Holdsworth. That’s the only thing I know about them.
Come on Everton, you pitiful twats.
Oh FFS
Is an Aldershot a powerful kind of fireball fired when incanted from an Elder Scroll? At what level do Wizards get granted the right to chant it and fire it off successfully?
Pretty sure we’ll walk them over because we’ve seem to have shaken off our ghosts from last year, and they are a very distinctively average League 2 side. The FM manager in me never had problems against them as I often use Bury to play to try to bring them up to the EPL. Never succeeded yet though, at best Championship. Hah.
Costas – all I know about them is:

@Cedars, Just keeping everyone on their toes.
Who’s up for a 4-0 win for us today? Stealing City’s thunder has kind of become our specialty over the years.
Alan Smith on Sky crowning City the champions, saying they’ll look back on this result as one of the key games that won them the title.
You can say that again, Fred!
(14:33)
I don’t care what anyone says, but David Silva is welcome any day to jump ship and join United! City are good, we need to be better – so in the spirit of things lets put 4 past Stoke!
It’s been a while since we’ve been handed an overall good draw, with the title contenders all playing EPL rivals. Used to be always Chelsea who get such draws wasn’t it? At least for the last 2 seasons I think… about time!
YorYor
finally a gamer on ROM. skyrim is going to be epic. you checking it out ?
@Fred
Hey, one can dream.

slim, nah, my knowledge/memory of games are stuck to very old games like Dungeons and Dragons era (386, 1990s games)… other than that, probably only looking forward to Diablo 3.
I lived near Aldershot for a few years, but all I ever knew about them was:
lFounded: 1992 (replacing debt ridden Aldershot FC who were founded in 1926)
Division: League Two

09/10 was probably their best season. They finished 6th in League Two, if memory serves.
Sell Hargreaves, Buy Aldershot
This from Optajoe: 1 – Since losing to Wolves at Anfield in December, Liverpool have lost just one of 12 Premier League home matches (W8 D3 L1). Fortress.
If Anfailed is a fortress, then I wonder what Old Trafford is?
I feel like I know everything there is to know about Aldershot! I’ll never forget them!
Thanks gents!
seriously they cant expect Man Utd to play at Aldershot – bring em to OT.. let them fill as many seats as they can first and then give Man Utd some tickets. Home or Away does not matter surely in this case. I mean our 3rd string team (coupled with some 2nd stringers) smashed leeds.
My favourite Aldershot player is Bradley Bubb, their Grenadian international striker. Remember the name! He’ll cause us problems, mark my words.
He’s the younger brother of Byron Bubb, and cousin to Alvin Bubb.
@Balaji – Anfield is a fortress of clowns
@Fred = can we call him Bubbagump from now on?
Also have u guys been hearing the rumours about Wayne Rooney not playing 2nite?
What kind of win record has the Aldershot manager Dean Holdsworth had at their 7,100 seater Recreation Ground?
Hubba Bubba!
Do the Swans play with two wings? I think I’ll have a flutter.
He has had several wins, but not as many as in their 09/10 season when they finished 6th
Long trip to Aldershot. All the way to the south of England. And it’s sandwiched between the home game against City (which in all likelihood could be a fight for first place) and a tough away trip to Everton.
YorYor
sheesh am i the only gamer on here. Think i’ll slink back into the “closet”
Had no idea swansea manger and AVB were part of TNSSO back staff when he was at Chelsea
Technically, we have never played Aldershot Town. In fact, we played Aldershot FC once, but they went bankrupt in the 90s and Aldershot Town FC was formed after that.
Last time we played Aldershot in any form was League cup 2nd round back in 1970
Wednesday 9 September 1970
League Cup – 2nd Round
Place: Recreation Ground (18,509)
Aldershot 1 – 3 Man Utd
Goals from Best Kidd and Law
Keeper Jimmy Rimmer
Manager was Wilf McGuinness
Ex-United man Johnny Berry (a Munich survivor) was from Aldershot.
@slim, Ahem, you’ve got more company than you can imagine. Not going way too off-topic, but I am currently playing Warhammer 40K: Space Marine, Deus Ex 3, Hard Reset, Starcraft II and looking forward to BF3, Batman 2, AC: Revelations and Skyrim in 2011. I am mainly a PC gamer though. So, come out of the closet all you want my friend (I am sure Cyril is also a gamer).
They moved to the Recreational Ground from the Medicinal Purposes Stadium.
Aldershot has no chance. If United put out a half decent team Aldershot will get killed, but a dream draw for their club nonetheless financially and publicity wise. Can they ask for it to be played at OT?
Aldershot, home of the British Army…perhaps not the best place to pick a fight in a pub.
Team for Aldershoot.
Keeper: Berbatov (he volunteered, SAF said “Couldn’t hurt”).
Larnell Cole
Michael Keane
Darren Fletcher
Reece Brown
Zeke Fryers
Paul Pogba
Darron Gibson
Mame Diouf
Oliver Norwood
SUBSTITUTES
Davide Petrucci Jesse Lingard Sam Johnstone Will Keane Sean McGinty
After we’ve played them they’ll be moving to the EuthanasiDrome.
More useless, I mean rather interesting Aldershot facts for you fellow reds. Ex United players Teddy Sheringham and the now rather rotund Neil Webb have played for Aldershot, although technically I think Teddy played for the original team rather than Aldershot Town.
slim – I’m a ps3 man. Currently playing Deus Ex. Looking forward to Fifa 12. You’re not on your own brother!
We’re playing the Shots! We’ll shoot them down, no doubt! Will Keane hat trick!
@Saad – doesn’t really matter about the game being sandwiched in between City and Everton games (wierd they played against each other 2day and we got that draw) because i don’t think it will have any players that could possible play in the premiership games playing against Aldershot. no disrespect to them ofcourse
They’d do well to ask Reading if they can borrow their ground for the day.
Ok this has nothing to do with the topic but I really want man utd to get a black away jersey for a season again – i love black jerseys. I think they look really cool.
This is the reaction an american college football team – The Ohio Bobcats when the players found out they got black jerseys LOL

Ahhh, good fact, Mikey. I remember now that Sheringham played for them. Here’s a picture of him, I believe from his Aldershot days: http://dnausers.d-n-a.net/dnetmQXk/playerpages/additionalplayerphotos/sheringhambeckham.jpg
To everyone saying “they cant expect United to play at Aldershot” why the fuck not? this is what FA Cup/League cup is all about going to small traditional english football grounds, yes this one is alot smaller than anything I will have visited before with United but it should be a great away day. Wonder what allocation we’ll get though with the ground be so small.
slim – I am a PC gamer myself, with call of duty as my main game…..I did purchase Dead Island on the PS3 last night, will see how that one is…
watched the everton game, did anyone notice mcmanaman going off about Cahill injuring himself on the challenge on kompany? replay clearly shows kompany stamping on his shin, but all you heard from the commentating team is how cahill was wasting time and overdoing his injury to avoid getting the yellow card…..unbelievable.
then when the camera shows cahill sitting on the bench with a huge icepack on his shin, they said it was probably for cautionary measures….how about it was because of a bruise to his shin caused by kompany stamping on his leg with all his weight???
Balaji
AC:Revelations is due in Nov right? I’m counting down the days… slow torture.
Willie
tried out the Fifa 12 demo?
redrider – No mate, I haven’t. Have you?
Wow thanks Fred, I didnt think such a picture would exist! I believe that picture was taken just before the open top bus parade to celebrate not getting relegated that year. Not sure who that young lad is in the picture with him. Perhaps it’s Shots legend ‘Ooh Ahh’ Mark Butler?
Aaaargh! Why won’t my message come through?
Is it because I used the term “City” several times? Very odd.
Haha! Torres, straight red
@Fred
I didn’t get the Aldershot info. Would you mind repeating.
More game time for Amos, Pogba and Fryers etc.
@Fred – a lot of webaddresses dont allow the msg to come thru. possibly a spam filter of sorts
Arse playing against 10 men. Again. That was very weak.
What the fuck?
Opps wrong thread. Nevermind my comment
