Anderson: I Will Be A Part Of United History

After comments attributed to Anderson within the past year, with him apparently claiming he was interested in a move to Inter Milan, our Brazilian has today claimed he sees himself at United for a long time.

He believes this is just the beginning of his time at the club, as he strives to follow the example set by our veterans.

“I am sure that this is only the beginning of my career in Manchester,” said Anderson. “I have everything to make history here and will not waste this chance. I want to be remembered in the future as Anderson of Manchester United. For this, I must follow the examples of players like Paul Scholes, Ryan Giggs and Gary Neville.”

    Offtopic.

“I have no problem with playing Jonny Evans in the final,” stated Ferguson.

“He has had an excellent season, as has Gerard Pique at Barcelona and, in a way, it would be a fitting mark to our academy if they were both to play in it.

“That would be a nice touch.”

Could we discuss the issue by creating a new thread ? i believe Jonny would do the job for us.

  11. Gman says:

Fletcher and Anderson are the future of Man Utd midfield

    and it looks GOOOOOD…

  12. Sugarcult says:

Nice to hear that. Score a winner against Barcelona, and you’ll be a legend, there’s no doubt about that. :)

  13. costas says:

I haeve had a weird feeling for a while now that Ando will score the winner against Barcelona.

  14. Rome_09 says:

Ando getting the winner will make my life, the celebrations would be crazy.

  15. costas says:

Rome_09 i think the lad will strip naked at that very moment!

  16. gotta hate tiny tears and co. says:

corea Pique is a mark of Barcelonas academy

  17. gotta hate tiny tears and co. says:

    costas ill strip with him

  18. cherry says:

I laughed my guts out on Sat when Cameras showed Ando marching behind soldiers.. Luv this guy…just stay you will be a legend. I also want to back him for the winner in Rome

  19. corea says:

    GHTT
i’m not that interested in Pique more so in Evans.
but this is really notable issue to talk about. Fergie made the choice.

  20. mephy says:

He seems only to be able to score with his mouth shut (i.e. taking penalty), otherwise not..

  21. gotta hate tiny tears and co. says:

oh yeah i know what your saying thou
from a loan spell at sunderland to maybe the champions league final in one year
a credit to uniteds academy but mostly to evens himself

  22. Kings says:

Top player who shits on Fabregas.

  23. costas says:

He shits on Gerrard too.At least last year he did!I agree with Cherry.I was laughing very hard when i watched him mock the soldiers! What a guy!

  24. corea says:

ok, maybe Scott will create a thread for this and we’ll have a chance to talk about it. till now..

  25. Arni says:

I think I must be the only person that doesn’t rate Anderson. I’ve watched every game this season and last (albeit only 2 at OT), and I just can’t see his effectiveness. He’s put together a decent pass here and there, but there are enough wayward passes to outnumber. The same goes for his tackling/losing the ball ratio.

Don’t even get me started on his shot accuracy. Why the hell can he only score in a shootout. The worst part is, he doesn’t even get himself into great positions TOO score unlike someone like Park. Most of his wayward shots are from just outside the box, which for someone who was supposedly to be Scholes replacement you’ve got to be a lot better at scoring goals particularly form this position.

Skills-wise, I think I rate a confident in-form Nani. The 4-0 FA Cup victory over Arsenal when he did the seal was a sign of arrogance and confidence that we need sometimes a la Ronaldo. Anderson just seems a bit tame, and every time he fks up he has the same bewildered expresssion with his mouth hanging open rocking his face side to side as he backtracks. Infuriates me.

Anyway, I don’t deny that’s he’s a decent guy, seems fun, good to attract other Brazilians to the club. I’d put him in a Blackburn team at most, can’t believe he’d get in our CL final team. He had a couple of slightly above average performances against Fabregas and Gerrard, but these have been unbelievably over rated and it seems all everyone is basing their love for him on. Sure he’s young and needs time, but Rafael has excelled more so than him especially someone we bought for 17m-19m. For me, not even 2m of that has been justified yet. Apparently he’s got a ‘good engine’ but give me Fletcher/Park/Hargreaves/Carrick’s engine anyday. Rather even play O’Shea than in Ando’s natural position…whatever that’s supposed to be!

    Rant complete.

  26. Besher says:

I had a very strange dream about anderson.we were playing barca in the final and we conceded a last minute penalty which vds saved and andoo took the ball and he ran the greatest maradona run only to shoot at the bar .i woke up screaming .maybe because i’m thinking about the final too much but FGS andoo if that happened dont shoot just pass it.

  27. gotta hate tiny tears and co. says:

arni wow so many things to disagree with i dont know where to start
    ill keep it simple
    i disagree.

  28. gotta hate tiny tears and co. says:

get a pound on him to score
“he only scores in cup finals”

  29. chenkothedevil says:

Scott sorry for long absent. I went to fact out the result for the upcoming Champions league final in Rome on the 27th May 2009 which end up in our favour (Barca1 United 3 )
Ando is the type of player ManU always love to have. Players who like to write their name in the history book of the club.
Well done Ando keep the good work.

  30. wazza says:

Ando to score in Rome & take the cup home

  31. wazza says:

scott can you put up the pics from today’s training ?
    really good pics

  32. FusilliJerry says:

Can’t help wondering what Meulensteen and the other coaches are doing re Anderson’s shooting. His goal rate is inferior to Schmeichel’s.

  33. ROJO RED ROT ROUGE says:

Anderson and Hargo will make an awesome combo in the centre next year and the first goal will come soon (hopefully against Barcelona) and then they will keep coming. I think he needs to give Stevie Wonder his hair back but apart from that I like the kip of him very much for a young lad.

  34. unitedgirl15 says:

I love this guy so much.
If only he’d score a bloody goal!
Him & Ronaldo are a pair of jokers, him marching with the soldiers on Saturday was simply legend!

  35. javan says:

i would say Anderson is more like an Edgar Davids-type of player rather than a scholes-type.
Lets remember he is still young and learning his trade.
What he has done and achieved in the 2 years since he has joined is great and can only benefit him and utd.
for next season would like to see a midfield of:-
    Hargreaves,Carrick,Anderson.
With Ronaldo,Berba,Rooney(as I cant see Tevez staying as much as I would like that to happen),playing up top.
Agreed he does need to score,or at least be more of a threat in the latter 3rd of the pitch.

  36. Superdorz says:

Anderson has had his fair share of injuries this season, not played as much as last year and thus hasn’t found top form. He’s also only 20 (or is it 21?) so time is on his side.
I dont think he’s found his true place at United yet; defensive midfielder? Attacking? Box to box? A goal will set him on his way (a proper goal of course!) He has to play in the final really, we need his bite since we have no Fletch or Hargreaves.

Barca won’t even score in this game.

2-0 to United and, yes, Anderson to score!!

  37. Limbikani Mhura says:

The guy has all it takes to be a one of the best players in the world.I like his style of play and being a Man U fan, I am so delighted to hear him saying he wants to stay for many years at O.T

  38. ZeeZee says:

I love anderson, hes is a magic player with so much more to come!!!!

  39. SULLY says:

Arni I very much agree with most of what you saying mate, but not overall. Could’nt have put it better myself. Although I love the lad’s commitment and effort, and make no mistake he’s got great work-ethic, ability, and confidence but he’s wayward passing really grinds my gears. And Anderson’s shooting is fuckin awful, makes me sick to the stomach! Even a Championship player could do better at shooting. You lot are making out like he’s a fuckin superstar or something. He wont even start in Rome trust me! SCHOLES 18

  40. Red Dave says:

loyalty! dosent matter where you’re from, united will love you if you devote yourself to being a legend at united

  41. costas says:

He is a Premiership player.I don’t know if Italy would suit him.He has a massive task next Wednesday. He might have to put in his best perfrormance in a United shirt.

  42. Arni says:

so he’d have to string TWO passes together at least?!

  43. Arni says:

Don’t get me wrong. man would I love to eat my hat and he score the winner against Barca. I just think because he’s Brazilian, everyone’s trying to their hardest to see something he’s not.

  44. gotta hate tiny tears and co. says:

    red dave
i cant agree with you more
every bit of positive the “sign him up fergie” united fans say about tevez i believe is true
but talkin crap in the papers shows no loyalty
    so fuck him

  45. costas says:

Arni, i see him exactly for what he is.A very hard working midfielder that will win possesion for us and on occasions make a terrific pass.He is not a pass master,he doesn’t have the instinct to get into goalscoring positions that Scholesy had and his corners are usually bad(although he has all the room in the world to improve in every department). But we need him against Barca. We will need as many triers(as Fergie would say) as possible. And in Hargo’s and Fletcher’s absence we are short on midfield partners for Carrick.Giggs can get a bit nervy in there and Scholes is 12 months older than when he last played against Barca.I don’t think he was overrated last season. He was 19 and he played as if he was with the club for years. This season,it hasn’t worked out for him but ever since the Porto game ha has got better.

  46. man u for life says:

HE IS THE BEST, LOVE WHEN PLAYS

  47. anderson8 says:

For a Brazilian the lad has some woeful shots on goal! Maybe he shoulda scored that one at home to Blackburn when he gave Tevez the open goal, might have boosted his confidence in fron of goal.

He’s looked a bit ropey at times this season but since Porto away he’s been much better, and I can see him starting next week in place of Fletcher.
If he scored in the final we’d all be stripping off!

  48. Drew Vader says:

I’m an Anderson fan, but I must admit, sometimes he frustrates me. I know he is fast as hell, but he doesn’t always show it on the defensive side. Sometimes he just jogs around a little too much for my liking, especially when tracking back. Occasionally I’ll see the opposition pushing forward with players wide open in the middle, and Ando is jogging back. I just wish he would put himself about a bit more.If he would start working just a bit harder and busting a gut more I could give a F if he doesn’t score, as long as he keeps scoring in shootouts in finals.

  49. jcolas says:

Anderson has all the makings of a great United player. He might not have scored during the run of play, but I would rather have the penalty last year in Moscow than five goals this year.

  50. jcolas says:

Also… don’t forget how young he is!

  51. miele says:

Ando to score an bsolute missile in Rome. Whic Barca will never have even defended against, after viewing kajillion videos of Ando’s shooting prowess.

You heard it here 1st folks.

  52. Gudjohnsen says:

I would love to see Ando score the winning goal against Barca from regular game play. It will be interesting how he will celebrate his first goal for us from regular play, I think he’ll go berserk if he gets on the scoresheet against Barca, LOL! :)

  53. pawaka21 says:

nice person…just need to be consistent in every game if possible

  54. denton davey says:

Fantastic talent, incredible lower-body strength, and skill – what a package !

If he could have stayed healthy for the whole of this year then I think we would have seen a big improvement in his play – as it was, he was in-and-out of the squad.

I’m expecting VERY BIG THINGS from this kid. The amazing thing is that he was signed as an attacking midfielder but has mostly played as a defensive midfielder.

The follow-up question now is – will UTD be the first European club to field an all-Brazilian team ? Apparently there is some sort of “arrangement” with the guy who coached the 2002 World Cup team who acts as a conduit for top talent, directing them to OT.

  55. denton davey says:

The articles on UTD’s ties to the Brazilian “team” called “Traffic” are in the online Telegraph.

The former World Cup-winning manager I mentioned in relation to this arrangement is Carlos Alberto Parreira.

Very interesting read – highly recommended for those of you (like me !) without a life !!!

I’d also like to read some more about the UTD/Nike connection which I keep blabbing on about in relation to Ronaldo’s “new contract” – any links would be appreciated.

  56. Alex Craig says:

Ander….son…son….son – Love they guy also.

Great energy and work ethic, he has a touch of class about him and will only get better.

He will score soon im sure…c’mon the boys under a week to go now…….

  57. King Eric says:

Arni – mark my words this young lad will be a huge player at United, not just his play but his attitude. He hasn’t had a great seasom but since Porto has vastly improved. (Coincided with injury recovery). He Fletch and Carrick bossed the Arsenal games and for fuck sake man he is only twenty. Love the lad.

  58. Dani says:

Got some man love for him. Great player, and funny guy!

Does some one got this picture of him in a larger size?

    Thanks.

  59. javan says:

Aside from Anderson,I would hope that next season Posseibon really does kick on and step up to the first team squad with a vengence as he is another youngster that has the ability, touch, vision and calmness in his play to cover (almost like 4 like) for Carrick.
