Anderson: Owen Is The Pride Of The Country

Anderson has gone all out on praising Manchester United’s new signing Michael Owen. It appears as though we’ve got quite a fan in the ranks!

“I am certain that he will help us a lot,” said Anderson. “He is a player who has played a big part in the history of English football. I hope he has more success in Manchester and helps us repeat the excellent season that we had last year. Owen is more than just an athlete, he is the pride of the country. Our intention at United is to help him get back to his best. We want to have the player who enchanted the world at the beginning of his career.”

    Anderson= man united legend

  2. keano99 says:

If we were getting the same player from the 98 world cup i would need surgery to get the smile off my face but i dont think we are ando my son the words lame scouser describe him more now. but we hope ur right.

  3. willierednut says:

I was stunned wen we signed owen but im starting to com round to the idea, still need a midfielder, ando’s magic.

  4. 9jmac says:

haha, calm down ando, he was good, but he wasnt that good. heres to a good season for the both of you.

  5. Bazza says:

Hopefully his injury episode is behind him.

His form will come back, as long as he stays fit.

  6. gazmask says:

maybe he’ll give you a few finishing lessons ando, looking forward to seeing you celebrate that first goal

  7. Adrian says:

its good at least to see appreciation in the dressing room. young players like anderson look up to these players like Giggs, Scholes and maybe Owen, and i’m sure their experience on the pitch will be the key for the growth of this group of young players

  8. Gudjohnsen says:

Perhaps Owen can teach Anderson to take those goal scoring chances and help him to score his first goal for us, who knows… :)

I’m getting really excited about the Asia tour, only about 2 weeks till it kicks off.

  9. trevor says:

    Keano,

I dont agree with you there, Lame Scourser???

Own played 30 games each season the past 2 seasons! Has had trouble with some injuries!

We have signed him on a free, On low Wages and i honestly dont see where we can loose!

We need someone to support Berbatov & Rooney whilst letting the likes of Wellbeck and Macheda Mature.

We could say We will promote Macheda next season but that would be putting too much pressure on the boy!…..

You are stupid to doubt fergie and specialy as this signing in my Eyes is win win situation for United!

    End of!

  10. Tony_Oldham says:

Like it or not he is a manchester united player now so lets just give him a break and get behind him. If he is good enough for Fergie he is good enough for me. And if he does manage to stick one in at the Kop i am sure all his past indiscretions will be long forgotten.

  11. rc7 says:

    Gazmask, nice one.
It’s good to see some of our “foreign” players taking a wider interest in our football. Good on ya Ando.

  12. XYZee says:

Unless he brings ego to the table, I think Owen is a good signing overall. He is definitely a proven goalscorer. Even when he was just warming the benches for Madrid, he scored 11 goals that season not to mention the assists. Newcastle is just a shit team with players like Barton in the ranks.

  13. Aziz in Nairobi.Kenya says:

    Ando,am waiting 4 ur goal,ill shed a tear.

  14. Gotta hate tiny tears says:

if i could get me fricking computer set up with my new caera
emily has a fucking owen chant
    aaahhhhhhhhhhh
any way valencia and owen are excellent signing and for anderson 1/1 he’ll score pre season

  15. Gotta hate tiny tears says:

does anderson speak english as well

  16. willierednut says:

Owen at the kop end priceless roll on october.

  17. Its in my blood says:

    Steady on son!
Point taken, but the pride of the country is surely Rooney.

  18. ROJO RED ROT ROUGE says:

I am offering odds that Michael Owen scores for us before Anderson does !
Everyone looks like a scoring threat compared to Anderson – God Bless Him !

  19. doncobaino says:

anderson loves him because he scored against argentina…

  20. John says:

Well said Ando! Hope that Michael can get back to his best and help United to a 4th successive Premier league title.

  21. mancstan says:

I’d bet now that he will get double figure goals (Owen that is, not Anderson).

Great backup and gives Kiko and Wellbeck a little more time to develop.

  22. mctavish says:

@red rot rouge- so many times last season i put him down for first goalscorer, i’m just willing him to finally score for us lol

  23. garchformfrance says:

    lol doncobaino

  24. Vidic is God says:

owen is a past it scouser…

  25. 7the king7 says:

are new signing according to sky sports looks a real talent:)!!!

  26. Stephen says:

Vidic is God, We all are somewhat sceptical about Owen but give the lad a chance, he may end up to be the signing of the season and if he doesn’t firstly he was free and secondly his wages are tuppence halfpenny and thirdly it pisses off the scousers!

  27. Gotta hate tiny tears says:

i used to put ronaldo down as first 6/1 for months without any payback so i started backin rooey and ronaldo started scoring and never stopped
anderson scores ill be happier than when kiko netted against villa
anyone know anything about uploading videos from camera to computer :(

  28. Kevos says:

off topic but anyone know the story with all the links with eto?

    true or just made-up?

“Samuel Eto’o is near a move to Manchester, but not to the club he has been linked with over the past few weeks. The Cameroon striker has rejected the advances of City but according to Sport, he will only leave Barcelona if it is for the Blues bitter rivals United”

  29. ROJO RED ROT ROUGE says:

    @ mctavish

The bookies have been getting rich off you as well fella !

Check this for a mug bet – I put 100quid on Anderson to score in the Champions league final as I thought he would repay me for all the lost tenners earlier in the season.

My mate calculated he lost over 600quid during Diego Forlans spell at Old Trafford !

  30. DanS says:

We just need pre season to start – get all this ‘will he, wont he, talk out of the way.

    Roll on next Saturday

  31. Justice for Heysel says:

Lets hope he helps u Ando.
You have got to come good this season son and start delivering week in week out and making that potential shine.
Two years settling in period is long enough

  32. redseven says:

don’t you just love anderson, what a feckin gem!!

  33. theboogeyman says:

    GHTT,Maybe I can help??

  34. mctavish says:

when he scores it better b first goal and i’d need to at least a ton on it, then i’ll prob recoup wot i’ve lost on him lol

  35. Gotta hate tiny tears says:

nice one brother its just once i put the usb stick in with the memory card from the camera it just reads the photos and wont let me bring up the videos
i dont seem to have a video optiom to do it

  37. theboogeyman says:

Does your computer run Vista by any chance??

  38. Fze123 says:

nice to see one of the utd players appreciating the move. owen won’t get back his brilliant form that “enchanted the world” ando, but will contribute massively if stays fit, with no doubt.

  39. Gotta hate tiny tears says:

    no not vista

  40. MUFC the Religion says:

Just looked it up. United play away at the dippers on October 24th. Wazza’s birthday. If Wazza and Owen score it will be unfairly funny.

  41. theboogeyman says:

Mate,I’m sorry to say I don’t know then. That problem is there on Vista and I’ve got the solution for that.I am immensely sorry for wasting your time.

  42. Gotta hate tiny tears says:

    not at all my friend
i must just be over lookin something
i just hav an emiy valencia chant
and an emily owen chant that was recorded as the news was announced
but i cant get them up

  43. MUFC the Religion says:

Any chance of getting up some pictures of United starting training today.

  44. theboogeyman says:

OK,Let me try again. What exactly does it say when you put the card in??
(Sorry if I waste your time again.)

  45. Gotta hate tiny tears says:

  47. davetian says:

First of all, I reckon Anderson is a fucking top lad, and I’d very much like to have a pint with him. But to call Owen the pride of our country is so mental i can only assume he’s either on smack full time (some of his performances back this theory up), or he’s just accidentally ate some very special mushrooms. Owen is a bit of a Mary Poppins, goody two shoes, butter wouldnt melt, media whore in my eyes, but if his career has taught us one thing it’s that he can score goals, and we need that on the bench. And it’ll be nice to know that if Rooney or Berbatov arent available, a headless chicken hermaphrodite wont be coming into the team to give us no goal threat whatsoever. Good squad player? Yes. Excellent, possibly inspired, acquisition? Yes. Pride of country? My cock, no!!!

Secondly, all this Obertan nonsense. Now i’m happy to give anyone a shout if they come to United, but why are we signing more potential? Have we become Arsenal over the past few years? We need a left winger who can come into the first team and right now, not another Tosic or Nani. And dont offer me any youtube clips, fucking Forlan looked good on a video, or have some of you forgot that? Usually i just like ranting here, but i’m gonna be quite logical for a change. The most important comodity in modern football is pace, we all know that. We’re not gonna sign Ribery, he’s either gonna suck at Chelsea’s money teat or fuck of to the mob, so we should be doing everything to get Diego Capel. For you youtube fan boys, have a look. For you who have watched a lot of la liga football, you will know how good he is. He’s probably good on Champ Manager too (i assume this will appeal to some of you, given your views on transfer policies). And i reckon he would cost an absolute maximum of 15 million, cash we’ve clearly got. This boy would improve any team, and i reckon in a better side than Seville he could become the best left winger in football. You dont have to like or respect my opinions (i barely do yours!), but this lad is fucking special. Anyone who youtubes / has seen him play already, will acknowledge a running style ridiculously reminiscent of a young Ryan GIggs too. Plus he’s got long gay hair, magic!!

Also, some of the players i’ve seen some of you linked with… well, it makes me wonder why they allow wi-fi on fucking mental wards!!! Aiden Mcgeady? Wank as fuck. De Rossi? A reputation that is so undeserved, he’s shit. Fucking hell, while we’re at it why dont we get Heskey and Bramble in!!! I’m telling you, if United need to strengthen anywhere it’s the left wing and central midfield. And my vote goes for Capel, obviously, for the left wing. And in midfield, i’d love to see Flamini bought if at all possible, which i think it might just be. If we cant get him, i’d like Bodmer from Lyon, a fucking stunningly great footballer with the workrate of Fletch, the presence of Vieira, and the passing ablity of Alonso. He would be a legend at United.

Thats my bit anyway. Let us know what tha reckons.

  48. Gotta hate tiny tears says:

did it found the videos i just have to get the videos o play
    nice one boogey

  49. davetian says:

By the way, Bodmer also scores goals. Yeah, i’m looking at you Carrick and Anderson.

  50. Gotta hate tiny tears says:

i have no idea what im doing so ill laugh
    so i dont cry

  51. jamos9 says:

Capel’s a very good prospect and would fit in nicely down our left side but I read the other day somewhere that Guardiola is looking to pick him up, which would probably be right as he knows what the hell he’s doing and has his finger on the pulse – unlike Mr Martin Ferguson who simply doesn’t have a clue.

  52. theboogeyman says:

GHTT,the rest is up to you, mate. My brother just pushed me off the computer so he could play dota.I’m on his iPod now so it’s a bit tough to type so my comments may have typos in them.Try googling what to do next.Google always helps. :)

  53. davetian says:

Fuck Guardiola, smarmy cunt. I cant see him going there, it just dont fit. They have technical, passing players, and he’s far from that. Nice to know someone agrees with me though. What about Bodmer though? He’s a fucking lad.

  54. mctavish says:

    @davetian
100% rite bout youtube vids, they cud make me look like a worldbeater if edited rite and stick a good track to it! even then obertan doesn’t look up to utd standard, personally i’d like to see david silva come in, think he wud suit our play down to the ground

  55. theboogeyman says:

    davetian,your rants are effing brilliant!!

  56. vishnu1729 says:

owen is the perfect back up for berba…free of course……now af can easily adopt the rotation policy
do we need young? because he is right footed…again doing the mistake…
    buy a genuine left footer…silva..capel…

  57. vishnu1729 says:

dont believe any one by just youtube…just see anderson video…if it was right he should have scored at least 30 goals by this time…..

  58. vishnu1729 says:

WE dont need any youngsters..we need established players otherwise we will be out of champions league……fergie pls splash out the money…we are the biggest footballing brand in the whole universe

  59. Gandalf says:

Having seen the owen interview with MUTV, what does everyone think of him saying – he has met the manager few times over the years and always hoped that he would ask him to play for him. So he wanted to play for us secretly for sometime?!

I thought that he couldn’t have believed his luck that we would come calling when the other options were hull, everton and stoke and hence agreed to join us… but hoping Fergie would ask him over the years is so bizarre.

Its sad, I really thought he could make it here, he looked impressive every time I saw him in the reserves.

    Good luck

  62. Gotta hate tiny tears says:

Gabriel Obertan youtube videos dont even see him scoring
    unlike andersons

  63. davetian says:

    @theboogeyman – cheers pal.

@mctavish – i generally feel i have a reasonable knowledge of world football (though i am a big headed c*nt), and i make a point of watching anyone i can who i hear linked with moves / called the next big thing. And i’ve never heard of this Obertan kid, not that im claiming that to mean much. But i aint heard much great said about him, and Bordequx loaned him out last year and STILL only played about 15 times (scoring once, apparently). So yeah, im not enthralled. And i like Silva, but i dont feel he’d suit us. I like wide players who get through their fair share of work, and get at players, and i dont think Silva is that guy. Then again, i do bum Capel a bit.

@vishnu1729 – I dont rate Young in the slightest. I think only exceptional players can play on the wrong wing, and he aint exceptional. Pires (though a grade A twat, with a wank beard and a smart car) was exceptional when at his best, so he managed it. Young isnt that good. Yet another case of us building up any english player with any kind of talent. He’s alright, but he’s alright for Villa, not us.

  64. davetian says:

I’ve gotta say, i’ve proper got a rock on thinking about a midfield of Valencia, Hargreaves, Bodmer, and Capel. That is one hell of a midfield. And with those two in the middle, it’d be hard as fuck.

  65. mctavish says:

    @davetian
this cud be like a red rag to a bull but fuck it i’ll ask anyway, should b a laugh if nothin else, do you think nani will make it this year?

  66. tobbe says:

    when will hargo be back?…anyone

  67. Fze123 says:

    @ tobbe
apparently some where around jan. but i am hoping against hope he’ll somehow recover quicker and come back around october/november.

  68. King Eric says:

Davetian – Another top post mate. Have not seen too much of Capel or Bodmer so wouldn’t like to comment but great call regarding Flamini. Rarley plays for Milan and is used to the Premiership. With you on A Young, he aint even as good as Nani. Not good enough for United. Too weak, inconsistent and if we thought Ronnie dived about , well!

Think in one way it is a good thing getting “promising talent” but surely we have enough players in the bracket. I would throw £35 million at Wenger and see if he will sell us Cesc. Have said he would have to leave if they get offered £40 million so 35 may also do it. Looking forward to seeing the lad Ljijac in January.

  69. davetian says:

@mctavish – This may surprise you, but i actually want Nani to be given a fair crack at it. He’s a lazy fuck, and his decision making is awful, but i have faith that the right coaching can get that out of him. But on his side, he strikes a ball very well, he’s technically fantastic, and a superb crosser. And i actually like him. I just feel he’s suffered from playing on the left, he’s a right winger. I’m not unhappy about the Valencia signing, but i did feel that Nani could possibly of been given a chance. But if Valencia’s gonna be first choice, then Nani should definitely be his back up, and given a lot more chance to grow (plus, this would keep Park as far away from the team as possible!!).

Unfortunately though, i think he’ll go either next summer or the one after, as an disappointing failure. Shame really.

  70. davetian says:

@KingEric – I’m very excited about Ljajic too. Generally i’m not a youtube user, but i have watched lots of him and he reminds me very much of Kaka, which will never be a bad thing. I have very, very high hopes for him.

And i think Flamini is an outstanding footballer, and judging by how much he played this year, and the fact they got him on a free, I’d hope he was available for as little as 10m. Judging by Hargreaves fitness (as he’s the only central midfielfer i’m currently convinced by, except possibly Fletch) i wouldnt be against us going for Flamini and Bodmer. And the only thing i have against Fabregas is his attitude, and i think a player of his ability should get more goals. Plus i’m not sure i’ve ever really seen him dominate a game in the was Scholes could. Good player though, but not a 40m player.

  71. tobbe says:

    @Fze123 ok thanks

  72. United4eva says:

Why do some posters hate the players we have? Did we not just win three titles in a row? You name me one defensive centre midfielder in Europe who has produced a game like Darren Fletcher produced over BOTH legs against Arsenal in the Champions League semi? So many of you are talking about us like we have a gaping hole in our midfield. B.S. Our reserve midfield proved against Hull that they can dominate at least 1/3rd of the Premier League!

I’m telling you all now Fletch reminds me a little of Keano back in the day and I dont care if I get flamed for saying so. Back when Incey left I didnt have that much faith Keano could take over in ’95 after we got blasted by Villa on the opening day of the season I was a worried. I admit it. I nearly bought Hansen’s B.S. But Keano and everyone else came into their own and proved everyone wrong. A lot of people are predjudiced against Fletch cos they think they know him but there’s a reason why when we’ve got big games e.g. against Chelski Fergie always plays Fletch. If that Italian ref

Fletch, Carrick, Anderson, Scholes, Hargreaves…how many teams in the world can boast that kind of depth. I read through some of these fantasy football lineups and frankly I’m disgusted that people would throw away top class players as if they were trash. Madness…

  73. davetian says:

@united4eva – Gotta say i’d be with you on Fletch, if it wasnt for the fact that he’s a “big game player”. By that i mean, you know if it’s a huge game against a decent side Fletch will play. But he wont play week in, week out against the Hulls and Citeh’s (see what i did there?) of this world.

My theory, such as it is, is that his usage of the ball isnt quite good enough, and I’ve thought that for a long time. Now i love Fletch, i even feel that there is an argument for him be closer to the captaincy than he is, but i feel he needs to adapt his game. He’s not a bad passer, but he’s not a great passer. So maybe his role should be more about getting the ball and giving it to more talented players, not trying to do it himself. I also feel why this is why he was used as a winger when he first broke through, to help him develop his attacking game. Put simply, if he played like Keane, maybe he could emulate Keane.

And with regard to your comments on the depth of the centre of midfield and the players we have there, do you really mean that? We all love Scholesy, but he is probably entering his last year and unfortunately he can no longer by considered first choice. As much as i love Anderson, he still isnt convincing anyone that he’s really absolutely top draw and his scoring record, as comical as it is, is a genuine concern. And I stil feel that Carrick is not good enough. He’s good, very good, but i dont feel in that position he’s good enough. He’s a absolute fucking pussy in the tackle. Maybe I’ve just been spoilt by Scholes at his best, but i still expect more from my playmaking midfielder. I’d happily sell Carrick, and i think there are lots of players who could replace him.

And although i agree with your fantasy football line ups comment, i think you’ll notice that the players i mention are very gettable for our club. And if anyone thinks a fantasy football team consists of Bodmer and Capel then they’re tapped. I would pick some very different players if it as fantasy football.

  74. King Eric says:

United4Eva – Absolutely spot on about Fletch and our midfield, I mentioned it myself on another post. It is because people are just remembering our last game and how poor that particular night we were especially the midfield. They have coped well enough for the last two seasons.

  75. vishnu1729 says:

we neeed to find the extra edge in the midfield….of course carrick can provide that..but the weak point is fletcher…yeah he defends very well ..hard works..but not a complete midfielder as hargreves..flet dont know to shoot outside the box…no killer passes..less pacey…so for unleashing carrick who possess same standrd to lampard and gerrard ..we need to find the special midfielder the box to box type..

  76. Drew Vader says:

Davetian — Brilliant comments today. I agree with you about a lot of things, and on the shit I don’t agree with, I still find your arguments well crafted and funny. So, well done!

Although you are WAY off on De Rossi!! He’s a fucking animal, and a top footballer to boot…

  77. Tufty says:

Its not a case of Anderson saying that Owen is good enough for United, its more a case of if Anderson is good enough for United.
You can count the good games he ha had on one hand.
Despite playing well against Arsenal and Liverpool within the first few months of his United career, he has not progressed.
This season is as big for Anderson as it is for Owen.

If Anderson wasnt Brazillian and didnt have silly dreadlocks, he would have been written off a long time ago and on comparison, Kleberson has contributed more in a Utd shirt than Anderson.
