With 45 minutes played, Manchester United Reserves are drawing 1-1 with Wigan Reserves following a goal from Anderson, after Wigan had taken the lead!
He burst in to the box, took on a couple of players, then struck with force with his left foot to beat the keeper at his near post.
Paddy Crerand was impressed with Anderson’s performance, with him pushing forward a lot and playing some great passes. Playing with the youngsters may be a bit of a humbling experience for our Brazilian but something he is probably in need of. For him to work so hard for the Reserves is a good sign though and hopefully we can really start to see him fulfil his potential in the first team.
The game was fast pace and rough, with 18 fouls in the first half! The tempo remained up beat in the second half, with both keepers, particularly Wigan’s forced in to making saves. Gary Neville and Fabio da Silva were also playing, with the game finishing 2-1.
So come on Ando, let’s start scoring them when they count!

Good on him. How come he is playing for the reserves anyway. Longtime since I have seen him play for them. Perhaps it is a way of getting his fitness levels up. He looks to be carrying a bit of timber lately.
Off topic – What’s the score with Possebon? Played THIRTY FOUR minutes and deemed not good enough. What the fuck?

Oh they all count, with building confidence in a player that doesn’t score that many like Anderson.

Basically, Possebon had been playing very during pre-season matches for Braga (in a Pirlo like role), earning some good reviews but in THAT game against Elfsborg, he had an almighty falling out with the coach hence the substitution and subsequent omission from the squad

Well Anderson needed something to get him going. He seemed to assume that with Ronaldo gone he’d just walk into the side and thus he could make no real effort. Nani had to go through it last season and has come through it a stronger character and a better player. Ando’s got the world of talent but he needs to add elbow grease to that. If he does no doubt he’ll become the new Scholes.
Fletcherinho and Anderson in the middle, every game. Done.

I really love this lad, i hope he can make it. But the expectation now is not as big as when he first came here.
I totally rate all the Brazilian players we have -including Possebon. I do not agree that he “lost his bottle” or whatever after that scumbag challenge by Pogatet of Boro -and think he was ahead of Gibson -effectiveness wise. Never gives the ball away -good energy -really high skill level and the occasional 30 yard scorcher into the net. I’m loathe to criticise SAF -but I think the club could have valued him more and kept him in Manchester instead of shunting him out on loan.
The Da Silva twins -both superb -potentially as good as Cafu and Roberto Carlos were.
And Anderson -wtf is the story. He breaks his club scoring duck with a sensational free kick (albeit in a friendly). He clearly has more ability -by far -than Fletcher or Gibson -and we start messing him around.

I think we need to commit this year to Anderson, the frustration of the fans regarding him is that he had a great first campaign, struggled in his second year but hasnt been given a chance, play him in the scholes role, rotate fletch and Carrick and if he can cut it great! if not at least we know and we can replace him. I believe he is too talented to fail, he just needs the confidence and you cant get that on the bench…Fergie has said all summer he has faith in his youngsters well its time he show that.

we have always stressed about the lack of goals from midfield. if only fergie could play anderson as an attacking midfielder, his natural position, then we might hopefully see plenty coming from midfield. don’t think he should be playing DM, we already have fletcher and hargo playing in that role.
he has all the talent in him, but he needs to show up, expose it to the doubters.
Djunfitforwork – Anderson may have more “natural” ability than Fletch but he has to earn his place in the team. Fletcher has and is now the number one midfielder on the team sheet.
As for sending Possebon out on loan , it isn’t a punishment but a way of getting him first team football. (Well that was the theory).
I said it the other day after his academy performance, Josh King looks a great potential. Had a good game for the reserves tonight. Ole has got them playing some bloody good football.
I believe in Anderson and I think he could be a left winger in a pinch as he started his dareer out on the flank or an attacking mid-filder. I actually think he could be great box to box.

He is a 21 year old midfielder who has played more than 80 matches for the biggest club in the world in the biggest tournaments of the world i don”t think fletcher played more or better than anderson when he was at his age . Alot of ppl ripped fletcher off before two years ago i didnt even think he was united class but now he got better and improved massivly he started to show what he learned. Just give anderson time and he will surely become better even better than his firs season . He owned gerrard fabregas when he was 19 he will surely be able to do it again he is still maturing . To be honest, i think fergie is giving the lad a kick up the back side. For me anderson has always showed potential and has shown in some games what he can do!
For a while i think he was putting in some bellow par performances and for some reason he thought he should be in the starting 11.. Specialy when his previous performances didnt warrent it!
I dont think much can be read about him playing in the reserves this week, we dont have a game this weekend due to international break. Why not give the lad a run out.. let him know he has to up his performance level.

Fergie is just giving the lads who aren’t playing any international footy in the next couple of weeks a bit of a run out. If I were in Ando’s position I would be absolutely itching to prove myself, if it is with the reserves or not!
Regular posters on these boards know how much of a fan of Ando I am, and I can’t wait till he becomes the greatest MF in the premiership! He has been played as a defensive MF to round out his game a bit more, because his attacking skill is obvious.
Mark my words, Ando has Footballer of the Year potential, I just hope he realises it.
As soon as SAF said Tosic needs to add some mass in him, I knew there was a problem for him, am gutted that he is not included in the CL squad. I hope he is going to be used as cover up after long CL trips. Out of topic though but could not resist to express my disappointment.
Ando needs some confident-boosting games where he can score goals and improve on his positional play and I feel SAF thinks he could do it with a cople of games with the reserves
To Bobby: So Tosic isn’t in the CL squad, but Hargreaves is (so I hear)?! I assume we can bring someone else in if/when Hargreaves doesn’t recover in time…he’s been out 4 time and will need a lot of work on the training pitch, MAYBE even a few reserve team games himself, just to ease him back in & get match fit.
On Anderson, yes I would like to see him in a more attacking role, but he did get a couple of opportunities last season & was pushed forward. I remember when he was signed I checked him out on youtube, strong & skillfull player but even then had trouble hitting the net from what I saw. Should compose himself more & put his head over the ball instead of smashing it nowhere. Got time on his hands, got plenty of talent, but needs this to realise it and step up. Like Nani last season, who must have improved in training to feature this much.
