A notorious Brazilian drug dealer, known as Gigi, has been arrested in Anderson’s home in Porto Alegre.
The police have been following the drug dealer for a year, but insist the United midfielder does not play any part in their investigations.
“There is nothing against Anderson in this investigation,” said Public Ministry official, Ricardo Herbstrich. “According to what we have, he is just a friend of the dealer and maybe he doesn’t even know he is a criminal.”
Anderson’s agent said he will speak out about the incident to confirm he is not guilty of any wrong-doing.
“The only thing I can say is that Anderson, as well as any other person, can be a friend of whoever he wants, but he is not involved in any crime,” said agent, Paulo Tonietto. “Anderson is a professional and he will offer an explanation of what has happened soon.”
