Ando: I Want To Make History Here

Anderson has claimed that he wants to see out most of his career at Manchester United before returning to his first club in Brazil, Gremio.

“I want to make history here,” said Anderson. “I look at players like Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes and I want to do what they have done. I want to remain here until just before the end of my career. Then I hope to return to Brazil and finish my career with Gremio.”

A much improved Ando during the 2nd half of 2010, hope he continues to improve and become an integral player in 2011.

  2. Costas says:

    Legend.

  3. Costas says:

    Potentially.

  4. smartalex says:

    Bob Marley. Legend!

  5. smartalex says:

The picture is self-captioned Giggs and son.

  6. Doghouse says:

He wins the title and he will have fulfilled his destiny to shit on Fabregas. But though we’re down to a two horse race, it’s not a done deal yet.

  7. jellybean says:

too many players say they want to be like Giggs and Scholes….after the fiasco of last yr, gotta say- will believe it when i see it.

  8. Mes says:

    Costas – hilarious.

    SmartAlex – legend(ary spot mate!)

  9. samhill says:

    Future legend in the making

“I can’t believe what I’m seeing here Richard, Anderson is making his 600th appearance in a Manchester United shirt at the age of 38. What a career it’s been too, and he still looks as fresh and sprightly as when he first started! 600 appearances and 160 goals, amazing record!”

  10. JTrappe says:

He’ll be gone before his new contract is finished

  11. kev e says:

600 appearances = 600 stone!!! he won’t get through the gates by then… lay off the pies ando!

  12. willierednut says:

    We’ll see Ando.

  13. pmcelevey1 says:

He needs to produce the form he shows at old trafford into his away performances. West brom away was a game he failed to dominate like hes done in games at home to ie Blackburn & Birmingham. Still think he should have started away to spurs last week, as we lacked a driving force from the middle of the pitch. Keep it up Ando

  14. YorYor says:

Anderson has done well to dispel my doubts about him as a party-going animal without regard for the club. I’d be happy to see him here for the rest of his career, as long as he continues to perform on a consistent basis. Asking 160 goals from him is a bit too much though, I think. 16 might be a reasonable target… and I sure hope he proves me wrong again!

  15. Devil Is Red 19 says:

    Aaaaaaaaaaannnnddeeeeeeeeerrrson-son-son

  16. Shimo says:

Playing really well and do hope he stays as long as he says he wants to but, it really is becoming more and more difficult to believe anything footballers say these days.

One of our best CM right now. Will be interesting if we start him and Scholes on Tuesday. Let Scholes mop up in front of the front 4 and ping passes around and Anderson drive forward with the ball at his feet.

  17. king of OT says:

am sure he’ll keep his promises and remain @ OT,

  18. wayne says:

the giggs, scholes reference seems to be the choice of young utd players.he’s 22 and playing well i’ll take that for now, after the rooney fiasco i’m still in cynic mode.

  19. Devil Is Red 19 says:

Ando holds a particularly special place for netting the penalty in champs league final sudden death against chelski when he was only 18!!

  20. StatesideAussie says:

Call me cynical, but I don’t know why players say these things, and I can barely be bothered to read them. It’s not that I think they’re being dishonest (though in some cases, that is true). But even when they are being straight up, they can only talk about their feelings and intentions as of the current moment …and things change — often because of things beyond the player’s control. Who knows the future? I don’t. And neither does Anderson.

  21. dibils says:

    @Stateside

    you sound like C.Ronaldo lol

  22. StatesideAussie says:

Slightly off topic, but relevant to a lot of comments being posted recently … it is too early to start counting the titles as won. We are in a great position, but there are still 16 games left for us, and other teams have 14, 15 or 16 games in which to pick up points. It isn’t so long ago that the rent boys were way out in front of the pack. Now they’re 10 points off the pace. I’m confident our boys can kick on from here, but I ain’t counting any chickens just yet…

  23. FletchTHEMAN says:

Really pleased about yesterday but let’s be honest, Birmingham were wowful. All the lads had something like a 90% pass completion rates. The blues were like deer in the headlights. SAF noted the turning point was the first goal at 90 seconds. Ha ha ha ha.
One can only hope that Tuesdays trip to Blackpool will prove as pleasant trip to the seaside and that WR10 and Chicharito will conjure a goal fest. Think Berbatov will be rested.

  24. mattbw7 says:

pmcelevey1 at West Brom he was played to far forward to be effective, he needs to be where he was on Saturday so he can set up the play then move forward to support.

He really does have the talent and after his injuries and car crashes lets hope he settles into the player we all know he can become.

  25. King Eric says:

“lay off the pies” What? Have you seen his fitness in recent games? He ain’t fat he just has a big rear ala Dalglish which he uses to fucking great effect to hold opponents off. He was excellent again yesterday. I thought him and Gibbo made a good pairing to be fair. Gibbo charging forward into the box. I said last night he looks alot better. Look s leaner and tougher. Same for Ando.

  26. King Eric says:

Reckon it will be Scholes and Fletch on Tuesday. Darren may even play on the right and Nani on the left. Great to have all these options WITHOUT Park, Valencia and Hargreaves. As I mentioned Gibbo earlier lets not forget his great one two with Berba at Brum which created the goal. Reckon the lad is looking good. I have always stood up for him anyway. If he wasn;t good enough Fergie would have offloaded a season or two ago. Two potentially great Central Midfielders.

  27. FletchTHEMAN says:

KingEric Yeah, but Ando could have done the job with the Prince of Wales standing in. Not much of a test after the first half hour. But this is just what we needed. Put our mark on the game early and make the finishes count. We need to be taking care of the mid and lower table teams so that we can start bringing on the subs. Owen had 30 minutes! That is exactly what we needed for a game like this.

QUESTION for the lads: In top flight english football, Who has the longest unbeaten run in all competitions. Answer, how many, who and when. Hint, the man scott is slaging for taking his son to a game was in the squad.

  28. King Eric says:

    Fletch – 99 Team mate

  29. FletchTHEMAN says:

King Eric, Arsenal “invincibles” my arse. Interesting that we never hear about Uniteds unbeaten record. Ando talks about making history. This club is about history. We should honor it every day!

  30. The United Way says:

Anderson is a real talent and it is just inevitable, if he puts the work in, that he will become a top top player.

  31. smartalex says:

peering over shoulder “Fletch – 99 Team mate”

  32. vILHELM28 says:

Nani turned it around last season after Christmas and is now a vital part of our team. Anderson can do the same and is doing it. It all comes down to SAF. If you make it through is hardness and demands, you become a world beater.

  33. Sanj says:

Hey, mates. Off topic, but just wanted to let you know that Luka Modric’s Tottenham (who are our “equals” according to him) drew with Newcastle after a 90th minute equaliser from Aaron “Vanilla Ice” Lennon. So Spurs are 10 points back having played a game more. I want to know how that logic works…

  34. FletchTHEMAN says:

ANSWER: The 1999 treble winners won 45 games in all competitions a feat unmatched by any other side in the history of English football. During that run, United won the Premier League, the FA Cup and the Champions League, yet another feat not matched by any other team in English football. Durring 03-04 Arsenal went unbeaten in 49 which is impressive, but that was not in all competitions, only in the league. Think both records should be honored when anyone is talking about unbeaten runs in England. Both achievements are really amazing.

  35. smartalex says:

FletchTHEMAN Proof read your post at 17:40.

  36. vysakh says:

    hope he keeps his word.

  37. pritch the red says:

Off topic has anyone heard of the reports of the scum reject a take over bid of £1.5 billion because they want £2 billion sky sports news

  38. FletchTHEMAN says:

@smartalex. Type fast and sloppy. Sorry for any typos. Think the numbers are OK though. What was your issue? You can be my editor anytime mate!

The numbers on the unbeaten run came from research on our current run. We currently stand on 22 unbeaten in the league going back to that travesty against Chelsie at OT last season. During our 1999 run, we went 29 unbeaten in the league. While such records mean little in the context of the big picture of medals, I think it would be a special send off for VDS to have his name another united record. Good if it happens, won’t loose any sleep if it goes up in the air. One can only try and it is the trying that we all appreciate.

  39. willierednut says:

Fuck the unbeaten run. Just give me the 19th title and I’ll be happy.

  40. MG says:

For the kebabs people for the kebabs

    ;)

  41. smartalex says:

Sorry FletchTHEMAN, I realize I should have just pointed out the possible typo. I think you mean 45 unbeaten, but I’m not clear.

  42. Costas says:

I don’t know about records in general guys, but during Sir Alex’s tenure, United’s longest unbeated record in all competitions was 34 games. During the 93-94 campaign.

You could say that the 99 team surpassed that with 45 games, but that’s providing that we exclude the Charity Shield loss to Arsenal and the Super Cup loss to Lazio. And I don’t know if we can do that. So I always thought it was 34 games for United…

  43. mattbw7 says:

    Off topic bit of fun
This chap on a city website posted this, hope you like it
Its on bluemoon and the guys name is pezzer2 and he sounds a bit of a plank

I know its a bit premature but I have looked at all remaining fixtures and predicted all games for the top 5. I totalled the points up at the end and had us to finish top by 1 point. I tried being as fair as possible and was shocked to see this. I still believe, anything is possible. I have us winning all remaining home games, which is a tall order but there is no reason why we cant. Spurs is the only home game which is against one of the top teams. What do you think?

Nice question mate. I have one for you, in 77 Loserpool had the chance to complete a treble i.e. league, FA Cup and European Cup…. Guess you fucked it up for them? lol

p.s. I had been a Red for almost 2 years by then so it did feel sweet, still does!

  57. FletchTHEMAN says:

    CedarsDevil, Cheers mate,
Really and truly don’t follow my liverpoo history. Sorry.
Don’t tell me it had something to do with King Kenny?! Think he was playing by 77 but may have still been with Celtic. Sounds like a good story.

  58. CedarsDevil says:

    FletchTHEMAN

Hi mate, who on earth would follow loserpool history anyway…lol…… We beat then in the FA Cup final that year and we were the clear under dogs going into the match… It was UNITED that prevented it for them, they did win the European Cup and league that year….The score was 2-1 Jimmy Greenhoff and Stuart Pearson for United and Jimmy Case for them… all three goals coming in 5 minutes… God I remember it like it was yesterday lol

  59. willierednut says:

You can follow Liverpool’s history? Just stick the history channel on.

  60. Collyhurst Red says:

Ah 1977, I remember it well.

My 1st cup final, 18 years old, me and 2 mates went on Yelloway from Middleton.
I can’t remember talk of the treble then, only since we did it in 99.

What a day, never seen as many flags and banners.
It was the 1st time I had ever cried when the final whistle went, the last time was in May 1999.
I was used to it when Moscow came around, just couldn’t stop laughing at you know who, when he missed his pen.

    Happy Days!

  61. FletchTHEMAN says:

Ha ha ha ha ha. Should have done better on that one, watched it on TV with my mate who was a liverpool fan. He was so gutted, thought we were piss, as did I by comparison and our league position. Completely forgot about that when you brought it up. Keegan was who I was thinking of, not Dogleash. I really and truly despised that man beyond any reasoned measure. Keegan was the one who could have tied it up for them late but missed. Alex Stepney in goal for us, a great moment for him, one of his last years with United.

  62. fergie is the boss says:

willierednut – I bet liverpool fans are sick of their history, like paul stanley is sick of kiss same with liverpool fans and their ancient past

  63. Collyhurst Red says:

    Another “Legend” double-post!

I look forward to the next one, I’ll try and beat you to it.

  64. fergie is the boss says:

Collyhurst Red – still I laugh in 1999 when united played liverpool at anfield, they used allsorts of banners to show how much they have won in the past, do the liverpool fans get visited by the ghost of christmas past thats a fact

  65. smartalex says:

    Ryanderson Giggs.

  66. CedarsDevil says:

    Collyhurst Red

You are a few years older than me mate and I remember having no voice left after the final whistle!

    FletchTHEMAN

Speaking of Alex Stepney, my late dad kept telling me that he was actually our TOP scorer during the dark relegation season of 74!!!! Seems he took all the penalties! How bad were we and how fickle and spoiled are some fans these days ?

  67. Collyhurst Red says:

    @fergie is the boss

    That’s right.

I still think our “European Capital of Trophies Manchester 08″ was one of the wittiest ever though!

It was one of those that made you think “I wish I’d thought of that”

  68. fergie is the boss says:

mattbw7 – I hate to do pridictions on united but I will give it a go on united

I could see united pick up 88 pts, by the time late february march time comes, united will be well into top gear I think. If we improve our away form united will win the league

  69. Collyhurst Red says:

    @CedarsDevil

I realise I gave my age away, perhaps I should change my name to Collyhurst Boy!

Then again, I might attract interest from Gunner Girl or whatever she called herself.
That was a well funny exchange with her the other day!
I doubt she will ever come on here again!

  70. fergie is the boss says:

united probably wont go unbeaten but it could happen. But the way united are playing at OT they look difficult team to stop at the moment

  81. CedarsDevil says:

    Costas

To answer your question I would say its in the second word of the mentioned user name! lol

    FletchTHEMAN

Memories of a 6 or 7 year old can be clouded mate, he may have said that at ‘some stage of the season’ do forgive the error, I never looked it up

  82. FletchTHEMAN says:

@Costas, Only showing respect by attempting to follow in the masters style.
    We are not worthy.

@CedarsDevil, Naw mate. Legend has descended into urban myth on ROM. Originally, it meant something. Now, it is an almost meaningless term that the ROMmysters have elevated to sainted exaltidude. In Costas’s hands, posibly a new art form. Now “exaltidude”, that we might trade mark!

  83. King Eric says:

Collyhurst red. Yeah that manchester european capital of trophies banner was class. Mattbw. Ha that city fans extract was comedy gold. For more laughs get on manchester evening news site on city sectio and read comments after yesterdays game. They have already conceded the league and admitting united will always be the best. Things like ”we get beat and the scum get five just admit it lads we will never be as good as them”. Its fucking piss funny.

  84. willierednut says:

Costas acolyte? ha ha. IMO, there’s only one legend on RoM. Shouldn’t be too difficult to figure out.

“I want to remain here until just before the end of my career. Then I hope to return to Brazil and finish my career with Gremio.”

Sorry Ando, but we were recently told a similar tale from a certain South American Gremlin that will go unnamed.

Big Anderson fan, he offers that forward drive from the midfield that many of our cms lack. Not afraid to take a player on and not afraid to carry the ball in the other half of the pitch. Personally think our best CM pairing is Scholes sitting deep and Ando pushing the tempo. Not if he could only develop 2 feet, lad looks like he couldn’t put a fag out with his right boot.

  94. Clem says:

Anderson has improved no doubt and offers us something different going forward, but his final ball is so wayward more often than not. It seems he never gets a proper contact on the ball 8 times out of 10. It’s funny, cos he showed raw talent in Brazil, but I feel we’ve really not seen the best of him yet.

Little cameo’s like the above video are amazing, but I think he was playing a lot further up the pitch than he currently does. Still, he’s playing a lot better than Fletcher this season, and possibly Carrick, although we’ve seen Carrick start to play a lot better over the past few months.

  95. FletchTHEMAN says:

I just don’t feel that Anderson is settled at all and frankly think this fast cars and drinking are possibly the most destructive of any of our top players.
One of the indicators of a settled player is a settled home life. The only thing close to a relationship that I recall hearing about was the statement that a girl, thought to his girlfriend, was receiving treatment after that horrific car accident last year on the continent. Does he have a girl, is he really at all settled. Not convinced about this at all.

Hey fellow reds been following for a while but never posted
Thought I would share a story. Was at ot for the cup game against the dippers and was chatting with mates kid who had agreen and gold scarf. He said he was gettinpalyers to sign it and edwin no probs but carrick”I’m not signing that shit don’t u know what it stands for” eloquent quote from an eloquent midfielder.
Anyway boys were awesome yesterday I fucking love giggsy I will even forgive him ten years of not beating the first man at a corner berba is magick and when he scores against a paoper team I will love him truly.
Rooney works his ass off and is what he is but at the end of the day he’s a scouse so why think there is loyalty? The only reason sg stayed is because he loves being s big fish in a very small muddy pond.
Pat vida rio raf vds qulity$ I love the ginger legend but that pen in 05 when I was weaing his name in a gooner pub made me falter
Keep the red flag flying the treble is on again

  99. 102melbourne says:

Off the topic but I came across this on a news website…

On his relationship with Ferguson, the Italian revealed: “One time he tore shreds off me when I got back to the hotel late after a night out.

“I do like it at Sampdoria, so if I see there aren’t many prospects in England, then I could stay on longer.

Paving his way for a departure??

Willie. Think that paper are trying to stir it up. No pun intended on the bob theme. He was talking about him phoning him at a press conferencve but was laughing saying he is always on the phone. They are good mates.

  101. Dave Malaysia says:

    Firstly, Ando seems more settled.

Secondly, though he is doing well,he has yet to control the midfield for us just yet,its coming I hope
    soon.

Thirdly,Fergie has hinted that Ando will take over eventually from the Master Jedi, Scholes.
I beleive he does have an edge ,cos he can tackle and play defensively like makelele and Hargo.

If Ando and Nani achieve thie potential, both are the complete players in thier positions.

Hopefully they keep thier word, stay and become legends at Manutd.

  102. Red Devil says:

    Costas..another “legend’ary post mate :D

  103. jespermoses says:

Ando is having a decent season and even his passing has improved so much. The one thing he needs to work on is his shot which is pretty wayward at times

Its remRkable that man utd manage to get so much dedication fron their players – im not a red but ive posted here a few times before (im the guy who wrote the lesser spotted ferguson piece http://wp.me/p1cykJ-3o)

    @Red scot

Can I ask if it were u on the Busby Way site leaving a comment on the Keys and Gray incident, why the bloody hell should they be sacked? Maybe not every man but the majority of men would agree with them. Just as players from the past would laugh at todays players with snoods it’d be the same for female officials/commentators in the game!!

PS, this is just my opinion and as i believe u run this site i am merely asking your opinion and not starting a rant!

PSS. You got to love that comment Tony Bone left after yours!!! (“,)
