Bebe: Ferguson Wasn’t Wrong For Signing Me

Ahead of his move to Turkey, Bebe has spoken of his regret at failing to make an impact during his début season at United after signing for £7m last summer.

“I was happy to come to the best team in Turkey,” said Bebe. “I want to prove that Ferguson was not wrong by hiring me. He relied heavily on me, but unfortunately I could not show my value and I want to do this in Besiktas.”

  2. sayyidhashim says:

if he can be a success at Besiktas, then Bebe deserves another chance

at least he has lifted the PL trophy

    unlike Gerrard or Fabregas

    Keep at it kid.

    lost in translation. relied heavily…?

  6. joe_redoctober says:

Bebe is going to be the best player the world has ever seen.

  7. Louis says:

Lol. I think ‘relied heavily’ means ‘trusted me’.

  8. Costas says:

At the moment, I think he needs to develop as a player more than he needs to play games. And that could only happen at United. So maybe the loan would have been a better idea after next season. Hope I am wrong and Bebe does very well in Turkey.

  9. joakim says:

he wil bee one of the best players we have seen!

  10. bruce thomas says:

    Show us, then.

  11. FletchTHEMAN says:

In my view, this Bebe is still a Red as long as we hold the contract!
Have no problem with the idea that it is ok to take a gamble every now and again. I am a fan of the Bebe experiment. Hope it turns out for Bebe, hope it turns out for us. If it doesn’t do, then I don’t think it means that it wasn’t worth the gamble.

Hope he gets alot of games and shows everyone that he can work hard and learn the trade.
That said, Good luck to our Bebe!

  12. FletchTHEMAN says:

Costas, Hmm, interesting observation. Surely the Besiktas have some good coaches?!

Heard we are in for the 18 year old french center back Rafael Varane! Looks a prospect. Hope Evra has sorted him out and checked his references!

    1.91 m (6 ft 3 in)!

  13. Fred says:

If true, these comments are a disgrace. :x

Only joking! We wish you all the best, Bebe! :)

  14. BajanBoy says:

Okay guys are there any more serious rumours happening?

  15. Costas says:

    @Fletch

I am sure they do mate, but I trust Sir Alex to work and develop Bebe a lot more. I hope I am wrong, but this loan deal doesn’t make me confident that Bebe will be back with us in 12 months.

  16. Doghouse says:

There’s no precedent for the change in situation he has been through. Let him settle, just in a functional life let alone a club, and we’ll see.

  17. Fred says:

    Bebe will shine… in Turkey.

  18. NBI Red Onion says:

    @Fletchtheman

Varane looks good but I do not understand why we are signing so many centre backs – Rio, Vid, Smalling, Jones, Evans, Varane – but maybe SAF is planning to use Jones or another as the Hargreaves replacement as a holding midfielder.

I am watering at the mouth to see which midfielder we sign.

Re Maybe Bebe – something likeable about the aura, earnestness and energy of the guy, he is an underdog and you want him to succeed as its the dream story, but I think we maybe got him a bit too late to develop him to the level we will need as the game becomes more technical due to influence of the Barca style. I am sure he will have got something out of his time with United and I hope he goes on to have a great career wherever that is. Ambition is great to see, good luck kid!!! Believe!

  19. NBI Red Onion says:

Off topic, I have to say I can only admire Giggsy’s defence splitting pass – “I am not unfaithful, I have an illness, sex addiction and I will get treatment so be supportive dear wifey.” – Brilliant ! Giggsy’s won it 11 times, Giggsy’s done it 11 times – allegedly! I hope he does not quit over this, his private life is his business, it is a bit of a shocker but I still respect him as a player and a ledgend.

“‘No, I have never cried scoring a goal,’ he said. ‘But racing is my passion. I am so keen. It is one thing to buy a horse at the sales and see it win. It is a different thing entirely to win with a horse bred from an 11-year-old mare who is pretty much a family pet.

‘The kids pat her every morning and love her so much. And then to win with her son, in my own colours, and at Royal Ascot. It is just amazing. You have to have done it to know the feeling. I have lost my voice shouting the horse on.’”

  21. FletchTHEMAN says:

Costas, Agreed buddy. Could well be the last we see of our Bebe, but that won’t stop me from wishing him well. As I said before, the only folks who come out of this with a question mark are Quiros and the agent. I am fine with Bebe and Sir Alex. Guess you could always ask the question about 6-9M, but again, BTW Bisiktas has a strong Portuguesse forward. Strapping guy named Hugo Almeida. Maybe Bebe can be under his wing. Is he any good? Thoughts?

NBI Red Onion, Good words about Varane. He has a couple of U18 and U21 caps but not as many as might be expected if first choice. Still a better size than Jones for the position in my view. Kind of think this is the end for Evans. Maybe one more year to really decide the issue. Agreed about the defensive mid idea. I said the same about Jones in the 6 position but got slagged. Also think he could be a fullback if the twins continue to suffer from the injuries.

I’m really appalled at how many so-called Manchester United supporters I hear talking down on Bebe. This is a kid who came from nothing and is obviously talented. Yes, the deal is definitely fishy. But he is still…he is a Manchester United player and as Manchester United supporters, we should show a little compassion and support for a fellow human-being who came from practically nothing and is trying to make something of himself.

  24. Clint-IamYourPapii says:

if Bebe can Knuckle down, improves his fitness, scores & improves Decision making on the pitch & play as a target man for Besiktas I see No reason why he should not be given another chance by United.

I think the criticism of Bebe is very exaggerated because of his price tag & “the no value in the market” thing SAF said.

    IMO, i see him as a United’s Theo Walcott. Seriously there is no difference between the two;

    -lack of footballing intelligence
    -fast
    -skillfull
    -they both cant cross
    - the both run off the pitch cluelessly when put in an easy attacking position
    -both good finishers.

Okay Teddy Walcott gets more game time which is why he appears to be better but in all honesty Up To Now, Their Both a Pile of Elephant Shite that have been massively over-rate by their clubs due to complacent intelligence recieved from by Arsenal & United scouts.

*Currently smoking the Ganja

  29. dannysoya says:

Bebe will become superb at Besiktas with regular football and then when he comes back from his loan we keep him forever. Fergie BARELY gets it wrong.

  30. Zibbie says:

With a player such as Varane at 18 he wont count on the 25 for 3 years. Time to develop and decide, has he earned the colors?

Im not giving up on Bebe he was recommended for the future by CQ , a season in Turkey will be a severe test for him i wish him the best , lets see how it pans out . In these situations i think of Forlan . Tosic is now begining to showing class .

    next one out the door….obertan….PLEASE!

  36. Asare Kennedy says:

TBH dont understand what all the fuss about this boy being a flop is all about..sure he didnt play well at Crawley, but United in the past have a tendency to flop when we expect fireworks from the kids in the Carling Cup..This lad has alot of raw material to work with. Just needs a less intensive atmosphere.
Re: Pato Rodriguez = saw a newsnow article that was shocking about how a scout has a report on the lad, who was talked up by his father and linked to Utd only to raise the value of said argentine ‘new messi’. If this is true puts a perspective on all these so-called media linked players.

  45. AlphaRS says:

    Hello everybody.
Is anybody even slightly wondering why United are now spending these vast sums on money on players when previously it didn’t seem likely?

Is it because of the financial fair play rules being implemented at the start of this season?
Is it because The Glazers are selling United and want to make the Club an even more attractive invested?
Is it because SAF is going to retire at the end of next season and wants to leave the club in good shape?
Is it because SAF is trying to plug the gap between United and Barcelona in Europe?

The reason I say this is because It seems overkill on the amount of players United seen to be bidding on. I mean Vidic, Rio, Smalling, Jones, Evans, and then being linked to Varane? Do united really need 5 central defenders?
Also Valencia, Nani, Young, Park, Giggs, and then being linked to Sanchez?
They can’t all play at the same time. The younger players will need game time to develop and I can’t see it happening with Vidic and Rio in defence, Nani and Valencia on the wing.

All seems a bit nonsensical to me. Especially as what we need is a few decent central midfielders and we seem to have left that until last….

    :D

BY 17 September we’ll have played Arsenal Chelsea Spurs

22 October Liverpool and city who are back to back

Oh this is just brilliant :D Work through those games and we are on

  53. Costas says:

Interesting first couple of months hey? We will have played Arsenal, Spurs, Chelsea, Liverpool, Shity and Everton by the end of October..

  54. rat1p says:

wow the big games are flying in this season

  55. Jeet says:

Seems like the FA is betting on us to loose a lot of points early on in the season. Ohh, well, I guess we will have to put up the usual post Christmas show! Onwards and upward for # 20!

  56. MG says:

Well done Costas – looking forward to it – I think it’s a brilliant opportunity – absolutely fanstastic

No need to panic about the first 10 games – just work ourselves through it and go go go :D

  57. rat1p says:

no sloppy start this year eh

  58. Jeet says:

@AlphaRS and others: If you are wondering about the Varane deal, if it does happen, then it will be with a loanback for the first season to ensure that the kid gets playing time – that’s what I have read. This season is going to be a really BIG one for Jonny Evans.

  59. Costas says:

    @MG

Morning mate. Just like in 08-09, I think the idea is to have us drop points in the first half of the season. Once we hit top form in November, hopefully we will go on a big run of wins.

The thing that worries me about the start of the season and these big games is whether Chicharito will be available for them. Fergie has talked about giving him a rest…

  60. kanchelskis says:

    Fuck those fixtures.

Tottenham, Arsenal and Chelsea all in the first 5 games.

  61. rat1p says:

the transfer window closes on august the 31 right if there are late transfers coming in it could be very interesting

  62. MG says:

    Costas

    Good Morning

I don’t have a problem with none of those fixtures at all – my only gripe playing teams back to back but what the hell our last third of the season is absolutely brilliant – this is United’s to lose and I would add that if we get the right signings in for midfield we are on for a good crack at the FA cup and CL

Again the squad cull is proving that SAF is serious about taking United to that other level

These fixtures should not scare us they should make us even more hopeful and stronger still

  65. Red Devil says:

    @Costas, MG

Just saw the fixtures mates…Costas you are amazing with those up to the minute reports man..!

I see we have a tough start….Sir Ale will make sure we have a harder pre-season than usual….my only concern is maybe we wont have Hernandez available to us so early in the season as he may have to be given an extended break after his non-stop 2 years of football

Other than that, we’ve got a decent run in, especially if we’re in the latter stages of the champions league… The start and the christmas program look the toughest periods, especially without Hernandez…

Oh well time for Dimmy and Owen to step up! :)

Morning buddy, any idea what Arry makes of the fixtures?

  68. CedarsDevil says:

Hmm, Chelsea away on 4th of Feb… depending on theur form at the time this date may be postponed. I am sure the FA will come up with the perfect excuse!

  70. sachu says:

    @cedarsdevil
mate , we will beat chelsea whether its in feb ,march or tomorow
also mate , other than city away no real big games towards the end
we could get a massive amount of points there

    @Cedars, LOL!

I entered the Borders book store here to order a copy of Keano’s biography and all I could think of was Nigella Lawson’s awesome coookery books. They were literally screaming at me to buy them from the shelf. There were literally thousands of the arranged. I was seeing Nigella and her boobs everywhere.

I heard two voices in my head – One to buy it and one not to. I was in a trance almost.

Finally, I regained my senses and stared at all the covers for a good 15 minutes before checking the inside of the book to find a distinct lack of Nigella which completely threw me off. I kept it and moved on. That was a really close call, you know.

  74. Balaji Sivaraman says:

I blame Cedars and Dave Malaysia for the above incident.

If the next time, I end up buying the book, expect a full bill to come your way lads.

    Breaking News

    World exclusive with Harry Redknapp

Redknapp “Chelsea’s bid is a disgrace for Modric, the player is not available for transfer at all I’m not selling the boy but if he was we’d be looking at 50 million with Drogba Lampard and Essien in return

Harry the fixtures are out today what is your take on this?

Well Jeff Tottenham v Tottenham at WHL for 38 matches, triffic we’d like to be champions by at least the penultimate game.

Harry what are you talking about?

Well Jeff I mean I’ve had a look at the fixtures you know and the trickiest one would be Tottenham at home before Christmas because that’s always hard with the weather and all. After that the second game at WHL against Tottenham looks really difficult Jeff and of course the run in is really hard but we’re in it to win it Jeff and we’ve got a good as chance as any. Hopefully by that time we’ll be in the CL final and the FA cup final and will have won the Carling Cup. Triffic

    Harry are you feeling ok?

Well Jeff I had a talk to the chairman and he’s been triffic I mean surely this has got to be Tottenham’s year especially since we won the premiership last year – we’ve come a long way – the money is available and we’ll be looking to strengthen in a lot of areas. Owen Hargreaves is one of those players that we are talking to – what a brilliant player he would be for Spurs.

Harry you’ve just let Woodgate go because of his injuries what the fuck are you talking about Hargreaves for? And you never won the premiership Manchester United fucking did! And for fucks sake what happened to the other 19 teams in the premiership – what happened to playing everyone home and away – why the fuck are you talking about playing yourself at home for 38 matches for crying out loud man!

Their you again Jeff!!! You and that bloody Rooney swearing like that!!! I on’t have it – it’s disgusting and immoral and both of you should be locked up!

    Long winded pause

    Is Modric leaving for Chelsea?

He’s a triffic lad and a wonderful athlete and he’s not going and Chelsea are taking the George Michael out of us. 22 million? 22 million wouldn’t even buy his meat and two veg – I don’t know what Chelsea think they are on.

So he’s not for sale then?

Well of course not Jeff no means no but if the right offer comes in then I’ll have to take it to the chairman. We’d be looking at 50 million with Drogba Lampard and Essien in return and of course Manchester United are interested now and Chelsea have got competition and all Alex needs to do is pick the phone up.

But I don’t want to sell the boy but their again he wants CL football

I give up Harry I can’t get a straight answer out of you – fuck me

Their you go again Jeff yet again – you and that Rooney with your uncontrollable hormones! For crying out loud!

  76. Red Devil says:

    @Cedars

    Hello mate…
By difficult I meant the Christmas period per se…we’ll have a lot of games in 10 or so days with a few away games and you throw in weather disruptions and rain and hail and snow and its going to take it out of you…with all our experience suddenly on the verge of being shipped out, the new guys will probably not be used to the demands of a United Christmas programme, especially the foreign players…

And on top of that, just as we get over the hectic period we have games against Bolton, Arsenal (A), Stoke Chelsea (A) and Liverpool on the bounce…the players will find it very tough, with absolutely no room to breathe..

slow day….fixture list makes it worse…another bloody month to go….ah well under 17s to lookout for…

It could mean that Fergie is happy with his CM options, the majority of fans have been wanting to see us sign some quality there for two or three years but he’s not made any moves in that time…

Hopefully Fergie has seen the light now and gets some real quality in there because starting the new season with the same CM’s as last year would be quite depressing to be honest, I don’t mean to put down any of our lads but it just pains me because I honestly believe we could be so much better – winning the league seems to have covered up how shite we were for two thirds of last season, not to mention our abysmal away form.

  100. St Scholes Of Salford says:

Morning ROM, hows we all doing today.

I think the fixture isnt actually to bad. In october, we seem to have very little travelling to do with City at home and Liverpoo and Everton away games only up the road.
Also, correct me if im wrong, but it seems that after every CL group game we have a home game in the prem. That cant be a bad thing surely!

  101. SpeedyGonzalezChicharito says:

@badger…agreed but then again the amount of players coming through and in our current team already is mouth-watering

  102. badger says:

    @speedy

I can’t wait to see the likes of Pogba and Morrison (if he can sort his life out) get their chance but I think they would really benefit from playing alongside some genuine world class talent in midfield – we have world class defenders and forwards but good, not outstanding, players in midfield.

  103. Ajo Paul says:

Its going to be very tough for bebe on loan. Very promising lads diuf macheda have struggled on loan. He should be lucky to get starting position, hope he gets games every week.

  104. denton davey says:

AlphaRS @ 9:02: “All seems a bit nonsensical to me. Especially as what we need is a few decent central midfielders and we seem to have left that until last….”

This logic seems reasonable BUT – and it’s a big, big qualifier – the international transfer window doesn’t open for another two weeks (July 1st) and what we are hearing about nowadays is uninformed “paper talk” with a huge emphasis on EPL-based players and/or a few “names”. The last time UTD were in a buying mode, SAF pulled two cats from his hat (Nani/Anderson) and finally bagged Owen Hargreaves who was supposed to link up with Michael Carrick as the perfect combintation in midfield.

What we can learn from that history is that SAF (and his cronies) have already done their due diligence, identified their targets, and are now waiting for the transfer window to open so that the agreed-deals can be made public.

In the interim, it’s two more weeks of Phantasy. And, of course, I’m still sticking to my fantasy-signing of Daniele De Rossi until the fat lady has sung !

  105. Louis says:

Also liked what I saw of M Martin against Ukraine, but its hard to judge based on 20 minutes.

  106. WHAT ??? says:

….and “relied heavily” is perfect english ya muppet!

  107. willierednut says:

denton davey – Give it up about De Rossi! :D
