David Beckham has sung the praises of best mate and former team mate, Gary Neville, after he announced he retirement yesterday.
“Not only is Gary a great person, he is one of the best defenders ever to have played the game,” said Beckham. “It was an honour to play with him at United and for England. He deserves all the praise and recognition.”

Man Utd News 24/7

Words can not express what is Gary Neville to Manchester United and vice versa. The most loyal footballer ever to grace the Earth. Without a doubt the one half of the elite group called ” England’s Best Right Back “, sharing that privilege with Duncan Edwards , who is the other half.
QUINTESSENTIAL !
IRREPLACEABLE !
UNIQUE !
LOYAL !
RED !
LEGEND !
Drowning myself in tears and sorrow, still in denial and hoping that all this is just a nightmare that will never come true. But, even though I still can’t believe it, I am shocked and in awe, even though I wish he waited to retire together with Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs, or at least at the end of this season just to pick up the record-breaking 19th trophy, to be the one to show our title to the whole wide world, we all have to respect his decision.
Already dreaming of Gary Neville being given a coaching job instantly, with immediate effect !!!!!!

To those who disagree. Are you even a tenth of the Red that Gaz is? If the answer is no, you are an insignificant selfish sour sycophant who pretends to love United to gain friends.

Is it just me or does it look ridiculous that Red Nev is described as not the most gifted player? Everyone is trained to be good at what they do. If he wasnt gifted, why hasnt England replaced him and represented us for 602 games and I think 90% were him starting?
Red Nev you are the Man
WTF, Gary was plenty gifted. Gary held the RB position at United for over a decade. It is true that LBs tend to be cut from and even higher cloth because they are defending against the more common right fielded player. Because of this, excellent LBs are very uncommon and tend to have to be viewed as better. But RB excellent RB, who give away few penos and can overlap in attack are not as common as you might wish.
Gary Neville kept his place at United for a run of 8-10 years almost without competition. When injured, we had a string of quality stand ins, but we never had anyone who could keep Gary out of the side until he hit 32 or there abouts. As to you lot who are saying he wasn’t all that, there were few naming the replacement that we just had to go get.
Go on name a list that you would have rather had at RB in say 2003-04. Gary just was always that type of player who never tried to grab the limelight. We might of done better, but there were few who actually said we had to drop Gary until the last year or so. Now we have a quality replacement. But as Rafeal learns his trade, getting sent off in a game or too along the way, including v Bayern M costing us a CL, there are those who will remember Gary Neville and think, If only.
Bet Gary Neville tops the english list of RBs.
People need to get a grip and recognize qualities that United has valued.
he’s just great …
