Benzema Close To £38m Move To Old Trafford

Lyon attacking midfielder Miralem Pjanic has today revealed that his Lyon team-mate, Karim Benzema, is close to making a move to Manchester United.

Lyon’s manager today claimed that no formal bids have been made for the player although the club would listen to offers.

“Benzema is nearly gone to Old Trafford,” said Pjanic. “The English club are willing to pay €45 million for him and it is just a question of the day when he will move to England. He does not have anything against going to Manchester. Our side will be reinforced by Lisandro Lopez, the Argentine forward from Porto.”

    Great news!!!!!

  6. Costas says:

Really? With that price tag he will have the media all over him.Lets see if it happens.

  7. A person from Manchester says:

If i no anything its that no team, especially united, have signed a player till he is wearing the shirt on the pitch next to fergie. Look at john obi…

  8. Fze123 says:

The best news i’ve heard for for 2 weeks. you know, good thing his agent denied this, other wise it would get other clubs bidding. hopefully this is true

  9. Gotta hate tiny tears says:

I like it alot Valencia is united just a few dots over the i’s it looks like I’d say it”ll be tomorrow and now this

  10. King Eric says:

If it IS true, Fuckin Get In!!!!

  11. kennylad says:

bit pricey, but not surprising considering we’ve just sold roanldo for double lol.

  12. Debrabs says:

I hope it’s fucking true! I’d be gutted if it’s not.. Just have to patient

  13. marno says:

altho to be fair, this story is from Goal.com. they are as bad as Marca or the Sun when it comes to bollox stories!

  14. Altonian says:

    Praying it is!!

  15. jcolas says:

Believe it when I see it

  16. kegz says:

i’ll believe it when we get him until then expect him to go to Real Madrid…On that subject why are we paying 38 million when in two years he will probably say he wants to go to sunny spain…After all he has already said he dreams of Madrid so i wouldn’t start thinking of him as your idols just yet lads! All that aside he would be a magic signing though!

  17. jeffthered says:

hope it happens sooner than later…but hope fergie can snap up someone too

  18. Da Cunha Malta says:

Like for like I would have preferred Sergio Aguero instead although his wages are excessive. Benzema would be great but he is a big Real Madrid fan and I wouldn’t be surprised if he went on the same road of Ronaldo.

  19. THIS_IS_MANCHESTER says:

But Kegz if by then Welbeck and Kiko have developed like how we expect them to then if we sell him at a profit then its all good! But i dont think this is true, the core source is from a guy called “Predator” on a site that i’ve never heard of…

  20. Gman says:

Am i the only one seeing a problem with Benzema coming??

Im not judging his ability cause a havent really seen him alot.. and thats not where my concerns are, im thinking about his squad status.

Is he going to be a starter? With Berbatov on the bench? Rooney on the flank? or is he going to be a third striker like Teves was?

Whatever it will be, one of them is going to be frustrated

Benzema wont accept being the third striker, not in a million years so were just gonna have the Teves saga all over again. And im just not that optimisted about that.

We should be looking for starter winger and a back up striker.. i trust Berbatov and Rooney to be in starting XI. But Nani, Park, Valencia? Who will be starters?

I fully agree we need a striker, but a back up one not a world class one. We do have a very promising young forwards; Wellbeck, Macheda. But we need experience if Rooney or Berbatov get injured.. How about Nistelroy? I would love to have him back if Ferguson takes him. Other options would be Owen, Gudjohnsen, Tuncay. They would accept being the third choice or maybe even Fabiano if we could get hi for les than 15m and he would accept being third choice.

Im just really concernd about Benzema, he doesnt seem to be that much of a man utd loving team player.

  21. Drew Vader says:

“He doesn’t have anything against going to Manchester…”

Not exactly a ringing indorsement…. Oh well, I guess. For that price though he better not fuck around…

  22. Mark the Devil says:

I’m boringly cautious when it comes to transfers so i’ll believe it when i see it.

  23. Fze123 says:

If this is really true, and if this is really the price, then we would have about £26 million left, signing valencia and benzema would cost £54 million. 15 million or less should be spent on an attacking midfielder, someone like douglas costa.

He can be a fan of the facists for all he likes, but if he’s signed and is successful after 3 years, we will thank him, open the door to real madrid and wave goodbye.

i say we shouldn’t get our hopes up, just pray. this teammate of his could be just bullshiting.

  24. dave_pistol says:

is it just me that thinks benzema is a bit over rated? £38m? all of a sudden the transfer market has gone fuckin looney he’s good at lyon but lyon are shit and the french league is bollocks! sir ferg should’ve tried rockin the odd boat and stuck an £80m bid on messi or a few less quid on that scumbag bruno lookalike torres, not that i want him at ot, it’d just be funny watchin the dippers squirm! why not have rooney and berba playin thru the middle with kiko or welbeck as back up? surely these are two players who are gunna be pure class in a few years!?!

  25. Ambassador says:

After missing out on Torres, i am sure Sir alex will never let Benzema slip up off his hand….

Btw, is there any chance of Sanchez being a red devil next season? I’d just love to see him filling Ronaldo’s boots….

  26. CR7 is a C_U_N_T says:

Come on lads. Its all bullshit. you have any idea how much money sites like goal.com/news now etc make from news like this even if its bull?

look at all the adverts on the right and work out how much they make from 0.5p per click and 90,000 clicks

Benzema wouild be great however but i dont want anyone that dreams of playing for Real again. It would have been great if Ronaldo stayed for life, he would have been a utd legend. I can see exactly the same happening with Benzema. Once we teach him how to be a top footballer, his stock will rise and we will again be the feeder club.

I think Berba and rooney will come out the shadows of CR7 and be big players this season. i also think Welbeck will be a big player for us. he is growing into his body and will be a major force

  27. ¡No Pasarán! says:

Frankly, the rumour-mill has been on overdrive since the end of the season. It’s impossible to know whether the veracity of a source can be trusted, or the provenance of one of these transfer rumours in the first place. When it’s on manutd.com i’ll believe it.

It’s too much money to spend on one player, besides we should re-sign ’seppe Rossi for 15mil, much better deal.

  28. 7the king7 says:

Get in !!! New number 7??

  29. manu fan says:

he will be next after valencia sign

i hope that is very soon .

  30. Vass says:

Am I the only one who thinks we should at least consider Oba Martins? I reckon we could get him for a very reasonable price…

  31. jocke says:

should be a great signing. i just wonder how the starting line up is going to look. rooney on the wing again? hope not. but i trust fergie knows exactly what he’s doing, he’s the best manager in the world

    benzema + valencia + £26,000,000 > ronaldo + tevez

  32. rc7 says:

    Valencia is signed.

  33. mullar says:

United just signed Valenicia…lets hope it works out.. bring on Benzema!!!

  34. KVN says:

Look not every player who plays for man united is a man united fan. even Paul Scholes supports Oldham Athletic! so let’s not get hung up on Benzema liking Real Madrid. Remember he grew up idolising Zindan who’s origins are the same as his – Algeria. So it’s only natural that he wants to emulate his boyhood hero and play for the club he ended his career with and that’s RM.
The main thing is that once he puts on a united shirt he’ll feel at home, and there’s no doubt SAF will play him from the start. the attacking line up will be interesting. however, we still need a strong midfield with power, intelligence and creativity if we want to regain the Champions League trophy next season.

  35. Anon says:

    pure gossip. not happening.

sorry to be such a spoil sport about it. but it doesn’t ring in. Fergie would never pay 38 mil.

  36. Fze123 says:

5 reasons why signing benzema would be a good thing:

    1. We currently have two goal scorers now that ron and tevez are gone. alone, berba and rooney would need a backing player. 149 appeareances, 66 goals, 15 assists is not bad for a 21 year old

    2. He’s 6ft, good in the air, strong, power in his shots

    3. At least we know he wants to go to real madrid now, better than him wanting to leave the club after winning the double

    4. Was top scorer in the french league in 07/08 season just 3 seasons after his professional debut. he will become a better player playing with great players around him, and could always go to the fascits once we get success out of him

    5. He’s french > not argentinian

  37. gotta hate tiny tears says:

what did i just say half hour ago about valencia

  38. redrick says:

    utd comfirmed valencia has signed

  39. Linvoy says:

I wud be well chuffed if he joined!! I hope there’s something in it?

Bit pricey but I guess he offers a better rate of return than someone who’s 27/8 at same price (villa, eto). If he did fuck off after 4/5 seasons I reckon we’d got a load of goals out of him (fingers crossed) and he’ll be worth double!!! If we signed Villa for same money he’d not be worth much after 4/5 years (altho a gr8 player right now)

I’m still waiting on a Real number 7! Ribery or Augero but that wud be dreaming!!

  40. Costas says:

    Good luck with us Antonio.

  41. Scott the Red says:

The story isn’t from Goal.com, it’s from a Yugoslavian website. The player giving the interview is from neighbouring country Bosnia.

  42. Fze123 says:

Antonio Valencia said: “Joining Manchester United is a dream come true for me. I have enjoyed my time at Wigan, but I am thrilled to have the chance to challenge for the biggest honours in club football here.

“Playing in front of 76,000 fans alongside players like Wayne Rooney, Rio Ferdinand and Ryan Giggs will be an amazing experience. I can’t wait to get started.”

This is the what we want to hear. Listen to this, tevez.

  43. redrick says:

ghtt-sorry never seen your post, and yours rc7.

  44. Myq says:

What the fuck. two moody guys leading the line. a lot of hairdrier treatment 4 benz and berba. just give rooney the captaincy and make him lead the line permanently.period

  45. ChaosRed says:

Valencia has signed for undisclosed fee

  46. timbo says:

To hell with all this stuff about bring in forwards. So we bring in Benzema, and where exactly does that end up leaving Berbatov and Rooney, Fergie’s preferred choices last year? Shove Rooney out on the left when he’s made it obvious that he’d like to play in his preferred central role? Rotate Berbatov and Benzema from game to game, hoping that either of them don’t sulk a la Tevez at not being first choice each game?

Where the hell’s the midfield shoring up that we so desperately need? That’s where the money should be spent, trying to get world class talent in the engine room to match what the team has up front and in defense, because the likes of Carrick and Fletcher, the two players who look most likely to occupy the central positions next year, aren’t exactly going to send quality opposition into paroxysms of fear. Carrick is a flat track bully who often gets shut down in big games, while Fletcher, for all his determination, would struggle to even get on the subs bench at Chelsea. Anderson is the wild card who may have the potential to turn into something special, another Ruud Gullitt perhaps, but his form is somewhat erratic, he needs to find his scoring touch, and Fergie needs to make up his mind whether to use his as an attacking midfielder or as a defensive specialist. And Hargreaves – who knows what kind of player we’ll get back season? As for Scholes and Giggs, what more can they offer us except some sporadic performances every second or third game.

So is this the midfield we want to bank on, when it was obvious through much of last year that we really need some high quality personnel in the engine room? Where’s the Robson or Scholes of old that United need? Where’s the Keane we could use to give us some steel and leadership where it counts? No way in hell would either Keano or Robbo have allowed Barcelona the latitude they found in midfield against us the the Champions league final, or in the way Liverpool bossed us in the engine room.

Macheda and Wellbeck are fine backups for the two main strikers, particuarly for a team known to give youth its chances. Spend the money where it’s needed, the midfield, because it was clear that even with Ronaldo on board last season we were sadly lacking in the middle of the pitch when it really counted. The best strikers in the world can’t do anything if the midfield is being shoved off the ball and starved of possession.

No one player is going to replace the goals Ronaldo scored, but if one takes into account that he ‘only’ scored 25 odd goals last years it’s not a big stretch to imagine that the likes of Berbatov, Rooney, and Ronaldo’s wing replacement will take up some of that slack – plus a good attacking midfielder if we can find him. Don’t forget, Ronaldo scored a lot of goals for three reasons, one because he’s a single-minded and sometime selfish player who goes for goal himself whenever possible, two because he was the team’s first choice for free kicks and penalties, and three because he was given free reign around a team set up to cater to his abilities and personality. A new setup, with Hargreaves presumably taking on the dead ball duties, should free up the team as a whole to distribute Ronaldo’s goal production amongst several players. Don’t forget, just because wonder boy scored so many goals over the last two years doesn’t mean that United are or have even been a one man band when it comes to finding the goal. For all of his efforts, especially two years ago when he scored 45 odd goals, United’s best goal output for an entire season came along BEFORE his arrival, in the 99/00 season. They did it as a team, not through the efforts of one individual. It’s harder to peg back a high scoring team then it is to shut down one individual, and we all know how often Ronaldo seemed to go missing in the big games.

  47. cherry says:

    United sign Valencia

  48. edwin says:

I am quite excitied by this signing, and if we could have Benzema as well, as the title suggests that would be amazing.

  49. usama says:

Well yeah I also do not understand this. Arrival of Benzema would only complicate. We have Macheda and Welback as back-ups. I also really really don’t want Rooney to get stuck on the left wing again. I wish Berbatov is sold, Benzema brought in and a world class central midfielder. Wouldn’t that be just perfect!!!!! I like Xabi Alonso and was absolutely gutted when he signed for Liverpool, but I wouldnt mind him coming to United! :-/

  50. stretford972 says:

hope this is true but don’t wana get excited coz could be bollocks. He’s exactly the kind of player we need, young and shitloads of potential and ability. Let’s not forget, very few of united’s players were childhood united fans and now they love it. Rio, rooney, evra, vida, giggs was city, ando, park, its fuckin endless when you look back over the years like stam, eric and ole. Give him chance to get in, support him and he’ll hopefully be successful and love the club. Ronaldo is more likely the exception than the rule

  51. rc7 says:

Can Anybody translate french. Just come across a website in french that suggests he has been posing in Man Utd shirt.
    http://www.footmercato.net/ol-benzema-s-eloigne-et-pose-avec_article36053.html

  52. Morris2809 says:

Wasnt it a couple of years ago when we played them in the Champions League he said he would love to play for us. Either way if we pay that much for him and keep him for 6 years and sell him for the same percentage profit as Ronaldo i’d take that every day of the week. Not likely but if we had him for 6 years i’d still be happy.

  53. Fze123 says:

    @ rc7
i aint french, but translated this from Google translate. doesn’t really make sense though!

He denies to open the door to a departure of Karim Benzema. However, Claude Puel knows. Like the president Aulas, if the No. 10 de l’Olympique Lyonnais decides a transfer will be inevitable. JMA was recently reported that economic realities can sometimes take precedence over the choice of sport. Clearly, despite a speech at the start providing a non-transfer of Karim Benzema, the current economic situation is such that mercato OL can not afford to refuse an offer for its staggering player if it arises.

And given the way that Real Madrid has made the market explode, rhodaniens leaders were quick to see the largest in Europe out their checkbook. So, if Manchester United today seems to occupy pole position to engage the services of the player, Lyon technical staff is no more illusion. “We will focus on 2 July when he returns from holiday. Until now, he has always said he wanted to stay with us, at least until the World Cup 2010. Karim listen on his ambitions. And then, possibly, it will go further, “said Puel in the columns of The Team. Now relaying the same as its chairman, the Lyon coach must already have some idea of the turn that will take this case.

A folder that does not fail to surprise, since according Sport Today, during a photo shoot for a video game which is one of Egerer, Benzema would have appeared before an audience with the tunic of the OL. .. before you fall behind a screen, out of sight of the public carefully avoided, to pose with the jersey of MU! While the information is to take with tweezers, but there is something to see a sign.

  54. Linvoy says:

Usama… Gotta disagree with u there pal! Unlike the dippers we compete on every level & play to win every competition!! Therefore having 3 main strikers makes perfect sense 2me! As for berbatov… The guy is pure class and iv enjoyed watching him OT this season!! Next season he will be even better IMO! Alonso is good but by god I wouldn’t want any player from them fuckers even the he/she!!

  55. sanj says:

for all of you saying you “don’t want another ronaldo”….

so… you don’t want to buy a player, have him lead you to 3 consecutive titles, 2 consecutive european cup finals, win the ballon d’or, then sell him for a profit of 68 million after 6 years?

  56. Kings says:

jcolas – I share your sentiments on that one. Somehow I find it very hard to believe that this transfer will happen.

  57. Altonian says:

Would love to be able to play a similar sort of formation as Barca with 3 attacking players (Roonery, Berbatov, Benzema), I just can’t really see it working? I do agree with that we could do with bolstering up the midfield, I think Anderson in the future can definetly play a huge part in the team, just not quite yet. Fletcher is good, but not world class. Would love to see someone like De Rossi, allowing Carrick to play a more attacking role. Last season he showed glimpses of going forward but not enough in my eyes.

  58. Altonian says:

In addition to the comments about Macheda and Welbeck, you can’t expect us to seriously rely on them two as backup? If Rooney or Berba (god forbid both) got injured, you couldn’t expect either of them too provide sufficient cover. Both are still raw talents, they both did well last season but aren’t anywhere close to finished articles. In the past we’ve always had 3 or 4 top quality strikers to rely on, it’ll be no different next year.

  59. Rooney says:

I hate for benzema to come here, because if real madrid comes knocking in 3-4 years he might pull off another ronaldo, but i will give him the benefit of the doubt and i will love him as a united player, but if he pulls any of the shit ronaldo did i fucking want him out, end of.

  60. Scott the Red says:

Altonian – I think the same was said of a few kids in 1995 when Hughes, Ince and Kanchelskis left.

How will Macheda and Welbeck ever become good enough if they aren’t played?

  61. FrankluvsWazza says:

BELIEVE!!! Karim Benzema is United bound.

  62. Ulster Red says:

    i hope its kb7

  63. MUFC the Religion says:

Finally. Signings are happening. Now the pre season is interesting again

  64. Corea says:

    Not impressed.
If we sign him i won’t celebrate because i have never felt the desire from him to play at Manchester United. The time will tell.

  65. Tony Starks says:

    I guarantee this is a fabricated story…

  66. Altonian says:

@Scott the Red I think they will be *eventually*, they’ll play more this season but you can’t expect them to go from 2 or 3 starts one season to playing a key role the next season, no matter how much potential they have.

  67. javac says:

United fans tended, on the whole, to hate Ronaldo. He leaves, and they get their way, yet most fans don’t really know who the hell they want to replace him. Valencia? “Not good enough.” Yet Wellbeck and Macheda’s raw potential is? Benzema? “Doesn’t want it enough.” Tevez did, and look what happened there. It seems that the only signing people do want is De Rossi, who I too would endorse highly. De Rossi doesn’t want to join. Or Sanchez, who again has said he “plans to stay”.

All players say that they want to stay. If they ask for a transfer then they lose loyalty bonuses when the club sells them on. That why Ronaldo assumed Real had done his job for him last year. He got fed up due to his own greed. If he had said he wanted to leave last year, he would maybe have gone a year ago. Valencia will be a star. Benzema will be a star. Real may look to Benzema in a few years to replace Raul, but then again if Higuan realises his potential at Real, then they won’t be after Benzy-boy, they will have Kaka, Higuan, Ronnie, Villa, Ribery, Gago and the rest.

If the Lyon kid actually did say it, well then, he might just know something, mightn’t he? He knows more than all the United fans do about Karim.

  68. steve says:

    http://i690.photobucket.com/albums/vv263/deanrolandthompson/benzinho2.jpg

Saw this on Redcafe apparently it’s a scan from a french magazine saying that what he said about Real was misinterpreted and that we’re his favourite team apparently.

  69. Ulster Red says:

    @steve
    sounds great if its true

  70. adebeckham says:

Benzema is a great player, i would have hope for the arrival of 3 players this new season, they are as follow……….

    KARIM BENZEMA

    DOUGLAS COSTA

    ALEXIS SANCHEZ.

That will be enough to fill the space left for the traitor, RONALDO.

Anyways, i love him so much and even is move to Real can not stop the love i have for him.

  71. King Eric says:

Steve – Spot on, if it is true which it certainly appears to be it will change things alot. Benzema to United?

  72. adebeckham says:

    i love that

  73. Ulster Red says:

    benzema>madrid

  74. Altonian says:

@steve looks legit to me, lets hope it is!

  75. asg says:

im not too sure if i want him considering he wants to go to real but if we do get him i wont be complaining

  76. Melvinho7 says:

Hope this is true !!! Shia Lebeof is coming to United :)

  77. kapti14 says:

    so modification of team then:

    vds

    brown rio vidic evra

    valencia fletcher carrick nani

    rooney

    benzema

    how does that look ?

for me it looks beefy mint.

  78. kapti14 says:

    40 +18= 58 to be spent.

22+25 (tevez money) left for another big player.

could be costa + sanchez or a big bid for sergio kun aguero.

either way would be positive for man utd.

  79. kidmeister says:

I’d like to see us sign Aguero and Sanchez instead of Benzema!!

  80. kapti14 says:

why do you guys not want karim ?

he is brilliant and will be a unique asset to man utd.

as for willing to play for madrid well we shall see about that.

if he does go to madrid finally then so be it coz we will get some dough for it .

meanwhile lets hope to enjoy karim benzidane.

rooney benzema evra on the left wing > zidane solari carlos was for madrid .

  81. KJ says:

Speaking of Pjanic, hes a pretty good player himself

  82. unitedforlife says:

how the hell does Miralem Pjanic know so much about Benzima’s business.. i have a feeling he just talking big to get in the news. This really does have ronaldinho written all over it and i wont be falling for that again. Id love it if he would join us..it would be the best news since we won the league.. but its worth remembering that after we failed to get ronaldinho we ended up getting another future world no.1… believe.

  83. kapti14 says:

pjanic is good but not ready for man utd.

a very underrated player inn france is yohann cabaye.

i reckon he could be the new scholes.

  84. kapti14 says:

please make it be true thant benzema is cumming.

if you are happy and you know it clap your hands.if you are happy and you know it clap your hands.

  85. Flash says:

@kapti14 – we’re getting no money from the Tevez transfer. He was loaned from a third-party owner for a set fee over 2 years with the option of buying him from them, and in doing so owning his rights, for 25 million. Whoever buys him must pay them the fee and will then own him outright.

Benzema could be an amazing purchase. He has such huge ability at the moment with so much improvement still ahead of him. I feel the need to support SAF with every decision, although I know he’s bought a couple of players who don’t necessarily ‘make it’ at OT – he must have seen something potential-wise in them to bring them over, established or not – he hits the nail on the head what must be 9 times out of 10. The man’s record speaks for itself, so who am I to doubt him?

  86. Alejandra says:

No, please. The 38 million is too much for an unproven striker in the Premier League. He was lame in the CL. Besides, I cannot get past the thought of him talking about the Real-Madrid-dream. Also, a french-great said he is not good enough for ManUtd, yet.

  87. themarkedman72 says:

like ronaldo but with a pair. No girly rolling around hopefully. dream come true

  88. david22hughes says:

valencia and benzema are excellent buys, however we still need a wide left player – it aint rooney and nani doesnt look like the man for it either……we havent replaced giggs yet…….what about downing? and as long as hargreaves is injured we need to fill that role aswell…….a keane, robson, essien type player……but who? aside from those two positions the squad is excellent…….

  89. King Eric says:

Aguero? Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!! Have you not learnt your lesson from Argies?

Alenjandre – “Also, a french-great said he is not good enough for ManUtd, yet”. I think that was fuckin Tony Cascarino the Marseille “legend” . He is not a french great mate he is a fuckin pseudo Irish/Cockney clueless, bitter cunt!

  90. lionell says:

i’ll be quite happy if we get to sign both Valencia and Benzema and i don’t think we need another winger. I believe our formation would be quite similar to last year. Valencia will replace Ronaldo and Rafael will get to start more games! With Valencia more willing to track back, Rafael’s will be less caught out.

Also, i don’t see fergie using either Berbatov, Rooney or Benzema (hopefully we get him!) as a bench player. If any one of them gets injured, the other two will play up front. When all are fit, Rooney will be on the left wing. Strikers on the bench would be Macheda and Wellbeck. Not to shabby at all!

If we do sign another winger, we WILL have problems keeping everyone happy. If Rooney plays on the left wing, then 4 wide players will be left to fight for the right wing position (Valencia, Nani, Park and this other new signing)!

Also, although Rooney himself likes to be in the centre, he has done very well from the left wing! The Champions League first leg against Arsenal springs to mind!

Of coz, if someone like Ribery becomes available for a reasonable price, i would buy him and sell Nani or Park.

Finally, on the issue of Benzema doing a Ronaldo, i really won’t mind if he stays with us for 6 years, scores around 100 goals (averaging 15-20 goals per season), wins us 3-4 premier leagues, a couple of champion leagues and then we sell him for 6 times what we paid for him (180 million)!

  91. King Eric says:

Alenjandra – “He was lame in the CL.” You really need to get your facts right mate. He scored 5 in 8 games this season 08/09 and 4 in 7 last season.07/08. Not a bad return at all.

  92. joeyasher says:

even ooh aah benzema has a nice ring to it. should we sign him, then we might just witness the return of Le King – THE SECOND COMING. i await with bated breath!!!

  93. Liam says:

I would like the signing of Benzema but would be disappointed as I kind of had my heart set on Aguero signing for us. He is my favourite player not named Rooney or Vidic and think he is in the top 3 young players in the world. But definitely wouldn’t say no to Benzema!

  94. vishnu1729 says:

if we get benzema then no aguero and viceversa….
then we need to bolster up midfield…e need a back up for hargreves if he doesnt return…and if he is fine then we will need a mid field man like silva ..snieder..dgastino…or even try deco…he will be worth for 5 m

  95. vishnu1729 says:

    try this line up
    ———-vds———

    —–rafael–vidic-rio—evra–

    ——hargrev—–carrick—

    ———-snieder/silva————

    —–valecia——–rooney—

    ——— berba/benzema—

    4-2-1-3
this can be easily made us 4-4-2 or 4-3-3..because roooney can act like a winger and striker(a rare breed)……has any one got objection….it is strong defensively due to hargreves and more offensive due to hargreves…he is the key to UCL..

  96. vishnu1729 says:

    benzema + sneider/silva + valecia = 40+16+25=73m
remaining 35 m….just do a thing…give it as loan to scoucers..let they compete with us…

  97. AlphaRS says:

Valencia is actually the only signing we have made yet.

I actually like the 4-3-3 formation.
Earlier somebody mentioned United playing the Barcelona formation.
The difference is Henry and Messi are not expected to track back as much as Rooney and Tevez.
Also Barcelona have very talented midfielders in Xavi and Iniesta who can score goals. Uniteds central midfield is far too defensive and as a result over the last few seasons their goal tally has been pitiful.

  98. marvsharpe says:

Why would Lyon’s attacking midfielder know more than anyone else in the football world? Granted, Karim may have told him, but i reckon this story may well be a load of shyte!

  99. steve says:

Why do people say we should sign Kun Aguero when he basically occupies the exact same position as Rooney and Berbatov playing off a main striker…

  100. trevor says:

    I hope its true!

  101. chep says:

just hope, there`s any true on this one

  102. AlphaRS says:

Real Madrid will be unveiling him?!

£80 million in the bank and no world calss players to spend it on.

  103. Football1st says:

Marca reckon Benzema will be a Real player at €35 million and will be announced soon.

  104. Alex Craig says:

    The Benzema story is bull!

  105. Nicky says:

    This Sucks (Benzema to Real)

  106. Costas says:

Too good to be true unfortunately. He is going to the fascists. I think this is a case of too little too late on our part. Did we ever make an offer for him? I hope we have a back up plan for this because there aren’t many good strikers out there.

  107. De_Roiste says:

Christ… Is there any top player that Madrid don’t want to sign!! Still, I’ll wait for confirmation before I believe he’s going anywhere. I think he would be great for us. As for ‘unproven in the permiership’… The same thing was being said about Torres!

  108. Tony Starks says:

I told you it was all fabricated!

  109. Football1st says:

I hope we dont see some desperate transfer dealings for mediocre players on our part take place towards the end of the window.

    Like Huntelaar, Vucinic and Gignac!

Id rather see Utd give Welbeck, Macheda, Petrucci a go than waste money on the likes of them.

I only hope SAF has his replacements lined up already.

Agueros still available for a crazy fee

But theres one striker in the market tho i could see at Utd and thats Fabiano.

  110. AlphaRS says:

If we can’t get Benzema we might aswell stick with Macheda and Wllbeck and Manucho.

  111. Paul says:

    Hes gone to Real aparently!!

Just like everyone else seems to want to go Real. I hate them so much!!!

  112. Football1st says:

    Maybe not Manucho! haha

  113. RedFucker says:

We need to ask for written confirmation from Madrid that they’ve finished their summer purchases before we even bother trying to sign anyone.

Mind you…what a “steal” it was getting Valencia under their noses (insert rolleyes)

  114. Melvinho7 says:

Fuck, shit & Bollocks. United are again to slow. Fergie and Gill away on their hols while Real conduct their business. Shocking !!!

Who else is there to get? Valencia has not convinced me at all and if he gets the number 7 shirt, I’ll puke !!!

£100 million in the bank and we can’t sign any top class players !!!

As for people going on about Macheda and Wellbeck, I know they will make it but I dont think its their time yet.

Damn this shit is depressing !!!!

  115. AlphaRS says:

I would have thought United would have told The Fascists to keep away from our targets as part of the Ronnie deal.

  116. AlphaRS says:

    What a fuckin joke.
Benzema’s agent has confirmed a fee has been agreed between Real and Lyon.
Skybet has suspended all bets on Benzema going to Madrid.

  117. BlackBabyJesus says:

    GHAAAAA :(

  118. swissdevil says:

    NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

  119. Football1st says:

Turning out to be a very frustrating summer for us fans isnt it! Seeing Ronnie go, Tevez leave and bad mouth SAF.

Yet having £100m to spend and getting trumped at just over £30m for a player who would have been great here.

    Ahhhhhhh Fucksake!

  120. tony-starks says:

Look Melvinho7… Ultimately players will go where they want to go.. I am glad we did not get Benzema, cos all the signs are that he would prefer Real… Its finally great to have players who want to play for us..

Its great to hear that statement from Vida!

  121. Robert S says:

LoL – quoting a Bosnian website!
By the way: What’s Santa Claus doing at the moment?

  122. Paul the red says:

what number would you give him…….. if he came??

  123. Rite$h says:

Not sure he’s coming afterall, his agent is claiming Madrid had a bid of 35M Euros accepted and that Benzema only has to complete his medical:
    http://www.football365.com/story/0,17033,8652_5409317,00.html

must be the influence of Zidane somewhere

  124. Kings says:

Don’t get your hopes up about Benzema. As much as he is a top player, his heart is set on going to Real Madrid.

  125. RedFucker says:

Better he fucks off to the white shirted, tapas munchers now than either :

    A) He has one\possibly two great season(s) and then declares that he wants to go to Madrid and the game begins again

    B) He turns out to be crap. Madrid don’t want him and we wasted a shitload of money

That said, I’m just waiting to hear that we’ve signed Owen on a pay as you play contract ..ahhhhhhhhhhhh

  126. GameBreaker says:

Great if we get him but we also need a RB

  127. kev says:

If it was chelsea or Utd throwing around the kind of cash Real are there’d be uproar about player caps from uefa and fifa.

  128. Chavski Hater says:

He’s going to Real Madrid, he’s said numerous times he’d choose Real/Barca over Man Utd/Arsenal. Real will sign him, leaving the way clear for Barca to sign Villa.

  129. trevor says:

Im looking at the Market at the moment and pin pointing players available and Players id like to see at United

In my opinion we need a Striker and another Winger.

There isnt too much available on the market right now that i would concider world class, or Man United Quality!

For me Benzema is ideal for United, He is World Class, Has Speed, Can Play on the Wing, Up front! And is only 23! If he goes to Real as well then we are screwed! I dont see much else on the market! Maybe that Big Nosed Inter Player, erm Ibrahimovic who to me is overated and i think late 20s.

in honesty im a little worried at whos available and where our team will be next season.

If the summer passes by without a Major signing i will be extremly pissed at the United Board and i am sure Fergie will be too.THey new Ronaldo was leaving 1 year ago, all was arranged i am sure! So why oh Why did we not have 2 or 3 players already lined up to take his place!

Yeah we have 80 Mil in the bank but its not going to score goals on the pitch!

  130. trevor says:

    @RedFucker
    A) He has one\possibly two great season(s) and then declares that he wants to go to Madrid and the game begins again

Whats the problem with this? Its a win win situation for United, We get 2 great years out of him and sell him on for a massive profit to re-invest in the team!

WE have had 4 great years out of ronaldo! 2 inital years of him showing potential and we have 80mil sitting in the bank to spend!

  131. Kings says:

He’s going to the facists. Lyon accept 30 million bid. Told you he won’t come here. Now he’s going there, we need to pull our finger out and get another striker, as we only have two senior strikers on the books.

  132. kev says:

    gone……

Lyon have announced that star striker Karim Benzema is to become the latest player to join Real Madrid.

The French forward had been linked with Manchester United, but big-spending Real – who have already captured Kaka and Cristiano Ronaldo in record deals – have won the race.

The transfer will be worth in the region of £30million as new Bernabeu president Florentino Perez continues to build a new era of ‘galacticos’.

A statement on the French club’s official website said: “Lyon announces the agreement with Real Madrid of the transfer of international attacker Karim Benzema for a net minimum value of €35m.”

  133. robbieboy says:

so once again real madrid steal a march on a rival!! i still believe you’d get huntalaar and gignac for less than benzema and prove to be better value! do we need another self centred so called galactico who’d probably play the sam game as ronaldo in a few years time?

  134. robbieboy says:

Ronaldo was selfish at the end and so would benzema and their apparant dream of playing in the white of real madrid? Yaya toure would prove a great platform for our midfield to build off!!

  135. kegz says:

Once again United are used as the bait…from now on we should only sign east europeans, dutch and scandinavians or stick with homegrown fuck all these fair weather players…I can see our Brazilian contigency doing the same one day!

  136. RED_ARMY says:

    REAL SIGN BENZEMA ….fucking bullshit

  137. NiteRunner79 says:

Shit I hope SAF has something up his sleeve. Surely if United wanted Benzema so badly they would of told Madrid to fuck off before they rubber stamped the Ronaldo transfer?

I was pretty confident that we would sign Benzema so I’m pissed off and disapointed at the moment.

  138. kennylad says:

where are they getting their money from??

  139. robbieboy says:

They’re probably getting their money off platini and blatter to stop the english domination. They thought man shity ’s money was obscene but madrids is ok. Two faced fuckers!!

  140. Matt says:

This window has the makings of a disaster.

  141. JR says:

    Bring back Dong :)

  142. kapti14 says:

its ok guys benzema is not the last player on earth. he is brilliant but football will keep producing talents.

its just up to us to find them.

i think we need to be clear.

do we want a striker or creative winger?

well there is still aguero, alexis sanchez(very unconsistent though),ozil, levezzi.

as i said before if we do not sign anyone else then no problem look at our youngsters:

    wellbeck,macheda,petrucci, evans, rafael, fabio,anderson

i beleive they will be gold for us but not sure they are ready except evans.

BUT AS SIR ALEX SAID ONCE MANCHESTER UNITED IS ALL ABOUT GIVING PEOPLE OPPORTUNITIES SO LETS GIVE THESE FLOWERS OF MANCHESTER A CHANCE.
