Hey Woolie,

Yeah forgot the Berb alright, considering it was the subject of the original post it was a strange oversight!

Thought Berb looked good once he scored, up until then he was very much off pace, was always a matter of when and not if he would score his first.

Once he hit the back of the net I was impressed with his enthusiasm; the importance of confidence in players, especially strikers, is never to be understated. It's amazing what it can do for you; a lack of belief and a subconscious tendency to shy away from play is replaced by a hunger to get involved in every movement. You could see Berb looking for the ball, hands up and calling for it as it broke from defense. And once he got no. two (which was beautifully executed) he was hungry for no. three.

Thought the players began to include him a bit more as well, there's a bit of reluctance to pass to a player who's not scoring when there's another option on. I'm v. confident this will kick start a great career with Utd.

have to say i thought berbatov was dreadful until he scored. his passing was woeful, he looked way off the pace and, dare i say it, out of his depth. then he scored, and he transformed into something like i hoped he would be. some lovely passes and seemed a lot more confident. lets hope he keeps the goals coming.

i thought giggs was brilliant when he came on, but have to admit i was scratching my bonce when the wizard put him on for scholes, when anderson was on the bench. i really should've learnt to trust fergie by now.

we are looking a lot better. keep that momentum going lads!!

Jig where was the rating for berba ??
other than that a good comment

nani is just like ronaldo when he joined trying to do too much i think fergie will get the best out of him which should be special as i think he's got real talent but he needs to learn to pass early sometimes as he holds on to the ball for too long

Berba was fucking ace. Not only two well taken goals, but a number of outstanding passes with the outside of his boot. Also has possibly the best first touch in football

VDS: Doesn't look good these days, punched when he should have caught last night & looks shaky (Hopefully he'll turn this around quickly).

Rafael: Great going forward, very exciting to watch. still a couple years off first team considering his defensive frailties but a great talent and plenty of time to learn defensive nuances.

Ferdinand: Great performance again, threw himself in the way of danger and got forward when he could. Not his most testing of nights but didn't put a foot wrong.

Vidic: He still looks a bit off his immense form of last year but I wouldn't worry about him at all, when the chips are down he'll be first into the tackle.

Evra: I can't say enough about Evra, his energy & commitment are unreal and his bravery in the tackle and when instigating attacking play is fantastic. If he can pass on his defensive solidity to Rafael & Fabio we can look forward to years of attacking full backs.

Ronaldo: Mediocre performance but not for lack of trying. He got involved a lot but didn't pull much off. His self-indulgence is his achilles heel, wayward shooting and a completely ridiculous free-kick from 40 yards. Come on kid, get the head down and play with the team.

O'Shea: Surprised me with a relatively good display, as pointed out; there was a short period where he continually gave the ball away but in fairness to him it was not a reflection on the entire game.

Scholes: Looked good until he got injured, we'll definitely miss him in the next 8 weeks, hopefully Carrick & Hargreaves are fit soon because as much as I like Anderson, I don't think he's ready. His nonchalant attitude is a bit of a worry, he needs to understand the importance of each and every game and maintain concentration throughout.

Nani: What can I say? Absolutely horrific performance. Self-indulgent beyond belief; any time he got within 30 yards he was shooting on goal, even if there were 4 players in his way, astonishing! His corners were rubbish and his crossing was abysmal, would have definitely been hauled off had the injuries not crept up.

Rooney: Looked really good last night, his passing was crisp, confidence was high and looked to be enjoying himself. Couple of very nice cross-field passes and a nice finish. Injury didn't look too serious, hopefully just a precautionary substitution.

Giggs: Some lovely play around the middle of the park & a great through ball for Rooney. He's by no means a conventional central midfielder but his experience and skill allows him the luxury. Wouldn't fancy him in there against Chelsea but last night was a different state of affairs.

Tevez: Looked lively when he came on but then disappeared a little. I hope the spell on the bench hasn't taken the zip out of him, he has definitely been rotated as against dropped because his form early season was outstanding. Deserves a couple of starts.

Brown: Seems to have gotten on Ferg's bad side since Anfield, which is strange considering the blunder was VDS's fault. I thought he had that worried look of old in his face, hopefully the indecision doesn't creep back in. I think Brown is a confidence player and I hope Ferg doesn't screw around with him too much, he's been absolutely fantastic the past 18 months and in my opinion should never have been dropped for Neville.

Kevin - agree with you totally about Nani, he was wank tonight.

I also remember a one or two-minute period in the game where John O'Shea gave the ball away FOUR times from simple passes! In less than TWO MINUTES!!! Not fookin' good enough!

Anyway, Rooney was top class tonight, looked like the Wazza of old. Hope the injury isnt too serious. Also glad Berba scored!!

And let's hope Ronaldo gets back to full fitness soon as possible, his pace tonight was non-existent.
