Manchester United tried to sign Federico Bernardeschi in the summer of 2011 when he was still in Fiorentina’s academy. His father convinced him that he was better off staying in Serie A.

Bernardeschi is 21 now and still plays for Fiorentina, but is being linked to United again. The youngster hopes to face United in the Europa League final this season, but has no regrets over turning Sir Alex Ferguson down.

It’s a bit of a long story. But I’m convinced I made the right choice. It would be wonderful to reach the Europa League final against Manchester United, I sometimes imagine playing this game.
