PICTURES: Best, Law and Charlton Statue Facing Sir Matt

Earlier in the week I gave a quick update on the recent developments of the ‘Holy Trinity’ statue, in honour of Denis Law, George Best and Sir Bobby Charlton.

Today the statue has been unveiled, taking price of place opposite the ground, directly in front of Sir Matt Busby’s statue.

The timing is rather fitting, considering that United won the European Cup last week, 40 years after these three men first won it back in 1968.

Who fancies a statue of Giggs, Neville and Scholes 40 years from now?

I agree with Sharath. Don’t get me wrong Giggs, Scholes and Neville are great servants, but they were never the best players in any of our teams.

I gotta say Scholes, Giggs, and Neville played large roles in 98-99 but who played the biggest and gone on to become a legend. Roy Keane has to be close to that even though he left in the way he did, Cole needs to be considered since he is one of the all time EPL scores, scoring a lot at United and leading scorer (might be mistaken), and Giggs for being the legend he was. If not Cole, who I can understand a lot of complaints, it has to be Peter Schmeichel, one of the most important players in that epic season. Fergie does need to have a stand named after him, and get a statue. He has been the key factor in everyone of our EPL championships (10 and counting) and the 2 Champions League.

Giggs Schmeichel Gaz Neville and Roy Keane. the modern day holy trinity!

  13. Scott the Red says:

Kevin – George played for us for 11 years as did Law, and Sir Bobby played for us for 19 years.

Sir Bobby is the highest scorer in the clubs’ history, Law is second, and Best is 4th.

You don’t get a statue at OT for having a good season or two like Andy Cole. I mean, he’s not even close to that status.

  14. Kevin says:

well as I said I can understand complaints. I do think a Keane Giggs Scholes or Schmeichel statue would be fine, but one statue for Fergie would suffice for me.

  15. Scott the Red says:

If there’s to be any other statues, I’d go for a Fergie one, and a Giggs, Scholes Neville one.

If Keane and Schmeichel should get one, then why not Cantona? Robson? Hughes?
