Holland have had a terrible time since Louis van Gaal gave up the position of manager following the 2014 World Cup. Guus Hiddink replaced our manager and agreed to take up the position until Euro 2016 but left the position 10 months later after a disappointing second stint in charge.

Danny Blind, who had been working as Hiddink’s assistant, stepped up, but has an equally poor record. It’s almost impossible for them to qualify for next summer’s Euros but Daley Blind, the son of the manager, is refusing to give up hope.

It’s very important for us to get third in the group. Unfortunately, we don’t have it in our own hands anymore. Turkey have to lose and we need to win both of games. That’s our job. We’re not giving up at the moment. We have to fight but we have to see what happens. They are two tough games we have to win but it’s not only about that. If we want to have the chance to get to the Euros, there are no doubts about it – we have to win and Turkey must drop some points. It will be a shame if we don’t make it but I don’t want to think about that now.
