The first leg of the League Cup semi-final has been postponed for two weeks because of the snow.
The fixture, which was due to take place tomorrow, will now take place on January 19th, meaning the return leg has been moved back to January 27th. This has consequences for our Premiership match against Hull which was due to play this week.
Gutted.
Negatives
- This match could have been a perfect opportunity for United to bounce back after the dreadful result against Leeds.
- Within the space of four days we now have to play City and Arsenal.
Positives
- The extra time before the game could now mean players have more time to return from injury.

Man Utd News 24/7

Fuck.
Manchester = Winter Wonderland
Anyone know if Ana Vidic is partial to snow? Just a thought…
Fred,
Thought the Serbs were used to snow? Surely they must love it!
Forget Leeds, beat City.
If the “positive” comes true then it outweighs the “negatives” by far.
We should concentrate on the league and hopefully by 19th we will get more players fit including rio and nani.
why dont they just plany united vs hull on 24th of jan? Both of them are out the f.a cup and as that is the f.a cup weekend both teams will be free and get the game out the way
I’m not suprised that it got called off. Apparently it’s very bad in Stockport, the Citeh fans would have struggle to come and support their ‘local’ team.
wat a cold shower this is. blood had been pumping hard for this game. argh!!
Off topic but does anyone know if Mame Biram Diouf is now eligible to play for us? My understanding was he was coming in january.
ahahhahaah they’ll be huddling around edgedly park drinking hot lemon, bitter fucks (although I shouldn’t laugh too much, I go to a lot of stockport games (from cheetham hill, manc as fuck just got a soft spot for Stockport county. when I can’t get a ticket/can’t afford a ticket for OT/games, at least the glazers are helping lower clubs by forcing poor fans elsewhere!)
anyone know the latest score with hargo? he could have a fighting chance of making the semi final now?
Lorons
yes.diouf has been granted work permit and is eligible to play
Like i’ve said it before kenya has the perfect weather
you guys are more than welcome.
Sorry scott,i wil b slightly off topic..its good 4 the club but fuck vidic n Ana..let them go 2 madrid!..am pissd wen players cant b proud of our jersey!..and am sure many fans will be!..
I was just thinking what Fred said. Mrs Vidic must not be too happy. Nemanja should be careful for any flying slippers!
not sure if good news or bad – seems like saf ended resting players for the leeds match so they be’d fresh for city ended up being a pointless (though this was unknown at the time) exercise. thinking positively, we played arsenal and city very close to each other 1st half of the season and got 6 pts so perhaps it’s better to look as this as an opportunity too get everyone back (is it too hopeful to think rio and/or hargreaves may even be back by then?!) and worry about the tough week when it happens in 2/3 wks time and not now?!
on the weather situ – i currently live within 1/2 hr of manchester (quite near man city stadium) and where i am it’s been snowing on and off since new yrs day so we currently have about 5 inches of snow. i was also in the salford quays area yesterday and it was really icy down there, even on some of the roads, quite dangerous so considering that there’d would of been large amounts of travel within the manchester area because of the weather it’s currently not the cleverest idea so in this situ the fa really had no choice.
Just today i came across some manchester calling codes and guesed one number ( i was idol at the time ) i was surprised by rudeness in that guys talking i mean he went mad just because of a call. He was like…….”Who are you ? Where are you calling from?” and when i asked him if he was a red,he went completely bollocks “so what? are you a fucking leeds scum trying to wind me up ?”
my only reaction was “good day sir”
@ Emanu daktari
hi mate long time since i heard from you.The last thing i would want now is vidic leaving maybe we should encourage him to divorce anna? that lady is getting to my nerves.
Being totally selfish for a second… this is a pain in the arse, I was looking forward to it being the perfect pick me up after the leeds game. I guess we still have Birmingham at the weekend… hopefully!
Stockport must have been hit with some serious snow!
gutted bout this. Was looking forward to it really, cautious coz of sunday but know that wouldn’t happen twice, not in a week anyway! And emanu fella what you basing ur fuck vidic attitude on? Some rehashed paper reports? Madrid trying to unsettle our team again? Last time i heard a direct quote from vidic it was that he has a passion for a club and is happy here.
Fucking hate winter. Fucking hate snow. Just had to dig my car out of a 15 inch snow-coat. FFS. Sort it out, global warming.
Hi scot et’all, its realy nice for us,because our injured players may back before d matches.
Well I think the only negative is that the Hull game have to be postponed. I hope we can say on Saturday we’re finally come out from that injury hell. Although I hope this Nemanja rumours are completely bullshits. We would be fucked up without him for the rest of the season.
After Sunday’s game I can’t wait to see Nani, Ferdinand & (finally) Hargo back for the team. I still believe Nani could be a good player as left winger and Rio’s determination is vital.
Wait, so is Nani injured or is Fergie just pissed off with him for some reason?
gutted!!!!!!!!!
think fergie is pissed off wi nani coz he hasn’t picked up his form. Don’t think we’ll see him here at end of season
Hilarious the world over ther shuts down with a little snow! We’ll just have to wait unfortunatley
Overall, I’d say this is pretty good news – the match with Birmingham is really BIG and I’d like to think that SAF can get his ducks-in-a-row for that. In reality, the Carling Cup is something of a plonker – even against the noisy neighbours – of course, it would be nice to win but, as we can see, the games are going to get re-scheduled to conflict with much higher priorities in the EPL and CL.
The only other down side to this cancellation is that, like the rest of you, I’m going to have to twiddle my thumbs, obsess about Sunday’s debacle, and read endless idiotic posts about the demise of TheReds. And, what’s worse, I can’t stop myself !
Nani’s got that same ankle injury he’s had for what seems like ages.
Was looking forward to this game, mainly so we can forget about the Leeds game for a bit but if it means a few players get back from injury for the new date that can’t be a bad thing!
Bummer. Was looking forward to see us batter shitty. Hopefully by then we would have hit form.
Secretly, the bitters are breathing a sigh of relief in the blue side of manchester, except Tevez, who said yesterday he will perform his embarrassing dance if he scores against us. I can’t imagine how gutted he must be feeling now, poor twat.
denton – nice one. I don’t want to read all the negative shit either but like you cannot help myself.
Gutted in one way about this but not in another. Was going to Eastlands on Wednesday and was really looking forward to get Sunday out the system However can you just imagine if for some awful reason United got beat. The confidence would be fucked going in to the much more important Brum game. Now the lads will have had a decent break, in Fletch and Carricks case a week and half. Expecting a hammering of Birmingham on Saturday. Tricky game but the lads will be desperate to win.
Adrian Durham was saying that Fergie will have bottled it. Sorry but just remind me who are the current league champions and second in the league. He said that it is a good thing for United after Sunday. Since when have United hidden after a poor defeat? They never do. They get right back on the horse again and put things right. I reckon Citeh have bottled it fearing a United backlash.
personally I think the players need the break and better prepare for the birmingham game. if we had played city and had any injuries it would only give us 2 days to reshuffle the line-up. this allows more time to plan the saturday game and injuries more time to heal.
I want to kick Mother Nature in the T**t
i am gutted as i had tickets for the 2nd leg and now im struggling to get time off work, i will be kicking myself for years to come if i cant make it!
