I was sent a link which I presumed was a piss take some red have mocked up ahead of City’s trip to Wembley at the weekend.

“Success means we’ll be welcoming a new generation of City fans from here in England and all over the globe, too, and when our new followers come on board, they’ll be welcomed with open arms into our ‘family’.”

I’ve read funnier wind ups but this one was still pretty good with some class lines like: “Champions League qualification and the FA Cup Final will mean hundreds of thousands of people will adopt the Blues as their chosen side”, “you’ll be cheering us on for the first time in the new Carlos Tevez home shirt you’ve just bought on-line”, “the last trophy we won was in 1976 so again, get this right”, “a guide to help ‘newbies’ bluff your way through the televised games, with your mates down at the pub or actually at the game” in reference to their half empty ground throughout the FA Cup this season, and best of all, “there may be the odd person who tries to trip you up with the terms ‘massive’ or ‘Man City’ – please ignore these are we are now accepting these words in general club usage!”.

There’s instructions on how to do the Poznan and even a link to Frank Swift, the City legend blues forget about every week when singing about “Munichs”.

The link sent claimed it was from the official City website, which made me think a clever/nerdy red must have been behind it. So, just to double check, I went to the homepage to confirm it wasn’t real, and to my disbelief, you can actually access this from the main site. This isn’t a piss take.

Don’t believe me? MCFC.co.uk – From the Poznan to Dzeko: The bluffer’s guide to MCFC. The author, David Clayton, has written several books on City and is a regular contributor to the website.

I swear to God, if Manchester City didn’t exist, we’d make them up for a laugh. Too good to be true.
