Bookies Paying Out Over United Treble Because Nobody Can Score Against Us!

“We know and punters know the race for trophies is all but over for another year so why wait for the formalities?” said a Paddy Power representative. “If none of the opposition are able to even score a goal against United what chance have they got of actually beating them to silverware? We just hope someone can do us a favour and stop them in Europe. However, paying out on all three is a gamble. Football has a way of biting teams on the backside when they least expect it so we could yet end up with egg on our faces and not for the first time. Paddy Power are famous for being the first to call title races over, even paying out on Chelsea after just seven games of the 2005/06 season. But we haven’t always got it right, famously paying out on Arsenal in the 2002/2003 season only to have to pay out again when Manchester United pipped them to the title.”

I hate this paying out early stuff from bookies. I’m not a betting man and have no interest in it but I remember a premature pay-out in ’98. At the time I thought it stupid and so it turned out as United threw away a 11 point lead to Arsenal (who did have games-in-hand). I don’t understand the mentality that throws money away like that. I just hope the mis-placed confidence doesn’t spread to the players. The older heads like Giggs & Scholes must keep telling the others it isn’t over till it’s over, whatever Thick Paddy Power says.

Its just a publicity stunt to get Paddy Powers name mentioned all over the place, regarding early payouts and that. Theres still a good chance United wont win all 3, the FA Cup being the most difficult with some other big teams still in there, and we’ll be concentrating more on Europe and wrapping up the title. Even the Carling Cup could be sticky enough, depending on what team Fergie puts out.

yeah a publicity stunt and the point that they won’t have to take any more bets on it too, so that if it does happen they will lose a relatively small amount compared to those that continue to take bets on it over the next 3 months

Agree entirely with above posts. You can guarantee now if we don’t win all the lot that the dippers, bitters etc will all be saying how we were so arrogant we thought we had it sewn up in February etc. Nowt to do with us though its what bookies think.
