I have played Football for over 10 years and reached a pretty respectable level too. The team which i was a part of, we played 3-5-2 as well.
The major Advantages are :
Superiority in Midfield, hence increased possession
Greater Fluidity and flexibility.
Enormous attacking options.
Disadvantages:
Lots of Space between defenders and Wingers
Requires a lot of Pace and stamina by the whole team.
Whole team has to defend together
The thing right now is that we can pull of this formation but honestly it will depend on Carrick. I used to play that role and it requires that you should always been in the vicinity of the defenders and have great discipline and positional sense. Something he is brilliant at. However Rio and Vidic arent exactly fast and this system requires defenders to be very fast to deal with counterattacks as the wingers can be left a bit too far ahead to help. But honestly i dont see fergie being that adventerous and instead using a 4-2-3-1

The manger or club executive usually come out to the press and normally say that they are done in the transfer market and that they have got all their targets before the transfer deadline closes. Are united still in transfer market for 1 or maybe 2 more players???? because i havent heard fergie setting a target for no of players to get and it also seems that he himself still wants to add to the team as he hasnt dismissed anything as yet.

If Rossi does agree to join city, then i think there is a real concern for United fans to be afraid with the upcoming season. Signing RVP is great. He has peaked at the right time, and shown at Arsenal that he is a great scorer with a wonderful left foot finish while also possessing wonderful skills and technique. But it is Van persie ability to lead a team through the best and worst times and be a real inspiration to other players that impresses me most. At Arsenal he took control of everything and I was really impressed with his attitude, it is clear he enjoys the pressure of leading the team from the front and if it wasnt for his 30+ goals last season Arsenal wouldnt even be in the champions league, so much respect goes for a player who carried arsenal the whole way.
United look deadly upfront and many attacking combinations can be created from the players in the team and im sure our goal difference will be way better with the addition of van persie and hes already proved goal scoring record. This also an area where im least worried about this season as United posses one of the best attacking player in the world. But it is Centre midfield where United are quite vulnerable and weak for many years. City have de jong and yaya toure and with De Rossi rumored to be joining, they will out power, outmuscle and out play many teams. This was clearly evident when my beloved United got hammered 6-1 at Old Trafford and had a boring defensive 1- 0 loss at City. I have said it many times before that a strong Center midfield provides the foundations for attacking and even defending. We need a Player who can dominate a combative midfielder more or less to really close up and empower the midfield when we are on the defense.
What are your views on my suggestions and why is it that United are so naive in sorting this problem out? Has fergie realized that the best way to beat a team is to outscore them?? Or does he think we have enough technical ability in midfield to out pass teams instead of depending on strength and muslce?

Scott has indeed come out and put out a strong message to stop the bickering a few weeks back. But what one also must understand that all of us care about the club, and the blog in very different ways, as each of us are different individuals with different levels of tolerance. So for instance I might ignore, or write a lengthy post to argue against someone who ends his posts with ‘Fuck off Fergie you cunt’. Someone else might burst a vein and give it right back. Such a reaction may not come across as uber mature but surely one can understand the emotions behind it? Similarly, there’s some who have prior form in stealing other folks user names and creating false disagreements between long standing posters. Today they haunt this place with multiple monikers, talking to each other, and generally being a waste of cyberspace. Keep in mind that using multiple monikers is something that most online forums and blogs do not encourage, or even allow. Again personally, I think the best thing to do is to ignore such sad bastards. But many think, and act differently, hence the “bickering”. Which begs the question, “if some of us can ignore the initiators of such nonsense, why is it so difficult to ignore the posts of those who retaliate?”
Lol arsenal fans’ disappointment over losing van persie would not let them admit how tremendous a player RvP was for them. His goal scoring and assists record is brilliant. He’s 29 but he’s at the peak of his powers, he doesn’t rely on pace and technically, he’s fantastic. Adaptable, unpredictable, very very composed in front of goal. Van persie will improve united.

As utsav mentioned you need really fast defenders to look out for counter-attacks in a 3-5-2 system, only one of vidic or ferdinand can play. That isnt really conducive to our strengths.. We could play smalling and jones with vidic but jones needs to mature a bit more..

Never really despised van persie to be honest, arsenal as a whole, yeah. and looking at his record, it’s impressive over the 8 seasons he played at arsenal. He’s been beset with injuries but it looks more like a mismanagement of his welfare than him being injury prone. Time will tellhow he will do for united but you know it and i know that van persie is a tremendous player. He’s at his peak and that’s when you enjoy the very best of them on the pitch.
He’s skillful, has one of the best first touch in the game, he’s intelligent with or without the ball, he can conjure up individual brilliance and win a game. He’s a set piece expert and has a thunderous fucking left footer. Here’s hoping he belts more in the top corner all season.
Echoing the words of Giggs12, we can’t afford the chance of signing a world class player to let slip. The disadvantages can be brought up but if we hopefully keep him fit and with the strike-force united have, the pressure will be eased on him.

Another advantage of having these amount of strikers is the fact teams won’t know which players will turn up against them. All united strikers are varied and can possibly all combine. Rooney and van the man seems the best bet, defenders won’t know who to pick up.

People under-estimate that point. From the days of Keano, we used to beat teams in the tunnel itself. A big name such as this not only boosts the morale of the club after last season’s horrible nightmare ending, but it also serves to frighten the opposition and confuse them tactically with so many options.
Thats why a big world class signing is important once in while, even in a winning team to freshen up the squad and we always used to do that in the past.
Hopefully, we can sign some cover at left back and maybe we can get some of our aura back…we cant allow teams like Bilbao and Wigan to over-run like they did last year…does tremendous damage to the history and aura of United.

OFF TOPIC – I started off trying to read comments on this page put gave up and went straight to the comment box. Even when your just skimming, if every other post is non-United related you can’t avoid reading irrelevant bollocks and its fucking boring. Its not just this page either. From what I understand there is actually a private chat room section of the site, not that I’ve ever seen it, but ffs can you take the majority of all that back and forth non-United crap over there. RVP is the biggest signing for years but half the comments since then have been full of CHAFF. Thats not right surely?
If this sounds out of order (ha) then think about it. I don’t read any of the rival blogs listed on View From The Enemy but I bet theres hardly any back and forth or random nonsense from grown men on other sites. I like RoM but fucking hell not that much, this is getting ridiculous. Every other page is either homo-erotic twaddle or pointless point scoring. Journo writers are slagged off on here but how much of RoM commentary is even worth reading? At least the ABU journos are talking about FOOTBALL…. half the posts left on here are embarrassing, but theres no point addressing this to anybody specific so I’d advise a simple test instead.
IF THE MAJORITY OF YOUR ROM POSTS ARE NON UNITED RELATED GO AND GET A FACEBOOK/TWITTER OR WHATEVER PAGE AND ARGUE / FLIRT IN PRIVATE.
Its easy to say you don’t have to read it, but im actually TRYING to do that and I still can’t fucking avoid the crap written on here because theres so much of it. This is my opinion and I can’t be the only one wondering wtf is going on? Like I said I like the threads and talking points on RoM but not enough people stay on topic so it all gets a bit…. weird… and its on every single page without fail. Few months ago if anyone told me RVP to United, would not have believed it. But he is a quality player, no doubt of it. Our team hasn’t been firing when needed last season, so the kagawa and RVP more than welcome.
Would have loved a good midfield addition, like every other united fan – but not to be. Hopefully the current players do well in midfield, fingers crossed.

Speaking of penalty taking, right you see I lived in Kuwait for a few years, fuckers even made it to the WC in 82. Their main striker who was a decent footballer never ever missed a penalty. No use sharing his name as none of you would have heard of him. Seriously though, the way he used to strike the ball with so much force was a joy to see. I doubt any goal keeper could have saved any of them

I never understood the logic behind doing business with QPR again. I mean, I can live with what happened on the final day of the season. They found out they were safe and after fighting the game with 10 men, they finally relaxed. It can happen in the heat of the moment. But they royally fucked us over with the Macheda situation. I don’t care if they changed managers or not. They either should have told Hughes that Kiko should be in his plans or they should have cancelled the loan. When a club like United honours you by loaning you a player, it’s not just so he can rot on the bench. And instead of cutting all ties, we sent them another player this summer. And we surely weren’t that naive? The first thing I said when I found out was “watch how QPR go on to buy more full backs”. And it’s even more astonishing when you look at our options at full back. What can I say. Maybe it’s been determined that Fabio won’t make the cut at United and we are looking at ways to offload him.

It would be sad if indeed he doesn’t make it here..I always thought he had more potential than Rafael and he even plays in a more mature and level-headed way than rafael who can be a bit hot-headed at times.
When in 2011 he played the entire run-in for us at right back, and even started in the Champions League final, I thought he looked the part–just needed to bulk up a bit along with his brother…
In fact the more I think about it, the more I believe it was a genuine attempt to get him some first team football..but why on earth did we choose QPR I’ll never know. The only glimmer of hope I get is that Bosingwa is more a right back than a left back, so maybe Fabio does get some time at left back as originally intended..but he needs a bit of game time and any full back position will do…

I think Fabio will get games at QPR, could see him filling in at Right back, left or right midfield or even defensive midfield. He’l get chances at QPR he wouldn’t at united, but I do see SAF bringing in someone who can play left back and DMF.
