Manchester United are struggling to remain on top for 90 minutes at the moment, which was addressed on RoM after our 1-1 draw with Everton.
The general consensus was the reason behind our dropped points was we’re missing the creativity and stability that the likes of Paul Scholes, Michael Carrick and Owen Hargreaves can provide us with.
So, we can breathe a sight of relief ahead of tomorrow night’s match against West Ham, with former Irons player, Carrick, in the squad.
So far this season, Carrick has played just 70 minutes of football due to an ankle injury, meaning we have had a rather makeshift midfield so far this season. Carrick, like Scholes, is a modest player who gets his head down and gets on with the job. We have certainly missed his through balls and composure in the centre of the park.
Our available squad for tomorrow is: Van der Sar, Kuszczak, Foster, Brown, Neville, Rafael, Ferdinand, Vidic, Evans, Evra, O’Shea, Carrick, Ronaldo, Park, Fletcher, Anderson, Giggs, Nani, Rooney, Berbatov, Tevez.

Man Utd News 24/7

I really want to see Tevez in the starting line-up tomorrow but the problem is who do we play upfront with him ………
sacrifice anderson and play rooney behind tevez and berba, with ronaldo on the right and park on the left
at least that is wat i think
with him in our starting lineup our possession always shoots upwards.
He’s a good player but isnt going to be some kind of saviour. If he’s fit i would play him alongside Anderson in the centre but to be fair to Fletcher i dont think it will make a huge amount of difference.
i say drop rooney and play tevez upfront with berba, before im slated for this hear me out. tevez at the start of the season was shit hot and was looked to give us something new coming off the bench, i say we give tevez a start with rooney coming off the bench if we need him. i feel SAF wants berba to get games because hes improving a lot every minute hes out there, on saturday his link up play and holding the ball up was brilliant.
Will Ronaldo be rested tomorrow you think? Fergie talked about him being a bit tired before the Celtic match last week, but he went on to start him in that one and at the weekend.
What Carrick does for us isnt really appreciated by some United fans, and he’s the type of player that does an awful amount of work that goes unnoticed while Ronaldo, Rooney and the rest get the plaudits (alot of them justified, if we dont score, we dont win).
We have had the best defence around the last 18 months, and our main defensive midfielder has alot to do with it. He’s been here 2 full seasons, and with him in the center of our midfield we’ve won 2 league titles, and a European cup. He was around alot more than Scholes, Anderson, Fletcher or Hargreaves, so the chap must be doing something right.
I know what you mean James by saying he mightn’t make a huge difference, but he has been rock solid all along, and clearly he should have a better understanding of protecting our defence, and of helping our midfield and our attack, and they all a better understanding of his game too, which can only bring familiarity and confidence (saying that, I think Fletcher has been doing well himself).
We’ve already had too much chopping and changing (especially in midfield) between injuries and rotations, and if Carrick is back for the long term, that could be the start of us really settling back into the old routine.
Carrick offers us a sense of patient creativity, the type Scholes has given us for years. He is also a great winner of the ball, so having him back in the centre with Fletcher would certainly offer us some steel as well as help keep our game flowing.
Carrick and Berbatov are a match made in passing heaven! Once they play a few games in the same side, I can see Michael Carrick doing a lot for Berba, who can control better than anyone and score from anywhere!
cant wait to see this man pick a pass to berbas fantastic first touch
JIM TOM F AND NORTH STAND SPOT SPOT SPOT ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WE HAVE MISSED HIM ( carrick )
Just hope scholsey recovers soon and my fave player along with carlitos, hargo recovers from this basket tendinitis…..what an addition he would be. Such an awesome player is hargo. Midfield strength, running, bombimg, great fitness and stamina, great versality, great tackler, crosser, great set piece take and brllliant with corners. Can fill in right side, left side, centre mid, right back, left back. Hope him and the ginger magician are back soon
And pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee SAF play Carlitos..please. He deserves games
I have to admit I have been one to shout in frustration at Carrick sometimes, but only because I have never seen his sprint in my entire life, I dont think he can go no faster than jogging pace. We have missed him tho, I mean since hes been here we have won 2 league titles and a European cup and hes been the most regular apperance maker of all our centre midfielders. Hes very disciplined in his role, and rarely gives the ball away, he does the simple stough very well and that gives our forward players the freedom to flourish, so it will be good to have Carrick back in the side.
I can’t wait to see a fully fit Carrick partnered up with Fletch in the middle. This way they will have cemented roles and there will be no confusion, Carrick will sit deep and Fletch will have freedom to bomb around the pitch like a madman and to make his kamakaze runs into the box, which he is great at!! Fletch hasn’t done much to be dropped I imagine, but then again I didn’t think Carlitos did much wrong either….Glad I’m not the one making the decisions
No matter what he does, he’ll always be underrated by the fans…class player, good to see him back.
welcome back carrick…it’s time
Great to see Carrick back. Rate him very highly and very underrated by some in my opinion.
I think tevez should start with berbatov up front rooney in an attcking midfield position because he is always everywhere on the pitch and nani and ronaldo on the wings, nani needs more games to show his full potential we have only seen small parts of the potential he has anderson or fletcher starting in the holding midfield roll
