@King Eric – I agree, Possebon isn’t quite the same after that horrible tackle. But I reckon he will step up, he is young and probably needs some time to recover from this, both mentally and physically. But like I said, I’m only willing to let Gibson go if we get a similar offer for him as we did for Campbell. If not, then we should keep him, for now at least, he could serve as a backup since Hargo will not start the season. But I do want to buy a defensive midfielder this summer and I think Daniel De Rossi is an interesting option. We don’t know how Hargo will recover or when he comes back for sure so I reckon we need to strengthen our midfield. Scholes and Giggs will also be of a limited use next season and they are not defensive players. I want a tackler…

Alpha hits the nail on the head, we have too many squad “quality” players and not enough united “quality” players… selling a few on will free up places and bring in cash as well as making team selection easier – a win, win, win situation.

Gudjohnsen – I agree with what you say except about Gibson. What has Possebon shown this season that would want United fans to keep him over Gibson? Gibson has shown much more promise this season than Rodrigo. Admittedly he is a bit older but as I said the other day since that Pogatetz tackle it seems to have knocked his confidence. Needs to step up.

If we can get 6 mills or more for him, sell. If we can get a similar amount for Gibson, sell. I also want to get rid of Manucho and Simpson. We can perhaps raise about 12-14 mills for all those players. I think we’ll not even notice that these players are gone, we will not miss them. We have Macheda and Welbeck instead of Manucho and Campbell. We have Possebon for Gibson, we have Rafael for Simpson. We will still have talented young players we can give a chance in the first team. I think we should put our faith in those players and clear the way for them.

He sure looked good in his stint with the u21s last night – but, then, it was Azerbaijan and so it’s hard to get much of an impression of how that speed, skill and guile would translate against real footie players.

Campbell looks a cut above Chris Eagles and the unlamented Kieran Richardson; he looks roughly equivalent to Darron Gibson, although they play different positions.

The question is: what’s his up-side ? Does he have more to show ? Will that be enough ? These are vital questions that fans can’t begin to answer because we just don’t see enough of him to form a judgement. So, if he’s going to be shopped to acquire extra funds to purchase a guy considered to be UTD-quality then we really have to believe that SAF knows what he’s doing. The Eubanks-Blake and Rossi precedents, however, make one a bit suspicious of that line of reasoning, however.

His dad probably just wanted to say ‘My son is a Manchester United player’ once more before he left lol.

I’m kinda gutted he’s going because I had high hopes for him but he’ll do well at Hull and I’m sure does he move he’ll be moving on to a ‘bigger’ club within a few seasons.
