Scholsey won’t come back now at the end of his career, but it’s great that he’s been asked again. Shows he is still a truly world class player.

England piss me off no end, but the more United players in the squad the better. Viva Rooney!

Eriksson sacrificed Scholes for the sake of Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard, allowing them to play in their preferred positions in the centre, whilst Scholes was pushed out on the left. Scholes was having none of it and rightly so. Why should he, the superior player, make way for those two?

Since then, Eriksson’s successors, McLaren and Capello, have asked Scholes to reconsider his decision, realising what the Swede didn’t, that Scholes is the best central midfielder England has. Too late for him though.

Agree 100% with you scott.. i think the england team is a shambles and actually side wit Brazil but what i find strange is that Capello has persistently ignored Carrick who while might not fit in the 1st 11 definetly deserves a place in the squad
