Michael Carrick is hoping that Sir Alex Ferguson will pick him to play on Sunday, as Manchester United take on bitter rivals Leeds in the Cup.
“Experiencing those types of feisty atmospheres are why you play football,” said Carrick. “Rivalries like that add extra spice. It is great for the fans and good for the players. No matter where you play, or whether the atmosphere is for or against you, it is a great feeling to play. Besiktas were very hostile when we went there earlier this season but it was still terrific to play in. Leeds are bringing a lot of fans and we are looking forward to it. It should be a cracking game.”

i also hope owen gets a run out, hasnt been looked at since his hatrick!!
beat leeds, beat shitty.
Make my january please please please.
Carrick wont play tomorrow. He needs a rest after playing non stop for a long time. Scholes and Ando should start in the middle. Fletch needs a rest too.Owen and Danny should be up front. Leeds are doing well but to beat them we dont need a full strength team.We can give a few young lads a chance.
I cant see it happening but you have no idea how much I want to see Rooney on top form against Leeds
I read the interview that was done on Scott and he says he hates liverpool more. Leeds are higher on the list with my life long mate been a leeds fan I grew up with them been the team that I wanted united to beat the most.
We have a table in the old boozer we stop going into in 2004 booked for tomorrow night and I cant frickin wait
Off topic but this reading left back ryan bertrand looks great but he is on loan from chavs i think as i type fuck dippers equalise.
Get owen and well beck up front, anderson and scholes in middle of park and obertan and park out wide (if nani doesn;t play in this or the citeh games) he may as well pack his bags.
should be the best atnosphere of the season tomorrow, lets ram i[ up these yarkshire bastards!
Like I said before If there is someone who should be on that field then it ought to be NEVILLE.He together with SCHOLES were meant to play in these games. They understand what strangling dirty leeds is about.Let carrick take a rest.Already Fergie has alluded to that.Even Kuscazk is missing from action.SAF has both eyes on the Saturday trip to St.andrews & maybe one extra eye on the trip to the wastelands on Wednesday.Probable line up for tomorrow: FOSTER NEV,WES,VDC,DELAET, OBER,SCHL,GBS,WBECK, OWEN,MACHEDA subs:amos,rafael,fabio, anderson,valencia,king
the full team will play. End of.
@ brio the kenyan red
its shitty then st.Andrews mate.Good line up though i hate seeing welbeck on the left maybe nani(if fit) tosic a natural winger will work for me even though i would like to see fabio on the left flank with gabby foldin em on the right. that would add steel down the left as well as flair going upfront.
id go with the same side as BRIO but park instead of macheda, so itd be wellbeck upfront. macheda and nani are still injured, arent they?
Nor can I, so excited about this game. Been dishing out so much shit to dirty Leeds fans I know, I’m not going to be able to show my face for a month if we don’t do the business!
@brio the kenyan red
good line up mate, but i’d go for a starting line up like this:
Kuscszak
Neville Brown Vida Evra
Park Scholes Anderson Obertan
Berba Owen
Subs: Foster Rafael De Laet Carrick Fletcher Valencia Rooney
oh guys btw when is cleverley coming back? the lad is a fantastic prospect and it would be nice to see him feature in cup games and maybe coming off the bench in league games.
I think Carrick won’t play tomorrow as he has been playing consecutive games from the west ham game till the wigan game without getting a rest although in saying this, same goes for Fletch but i’m glad to hear that Carrick is looking forward to the game and i sincerely hope we batter the leeds scum. Roll on Sunday!
foster
someone someone else another person a 4th defender
winger scholes someone winger
striker rooney
ghtt
lol. is that fill in the blanks question for us?.
Dippers have a replay against reading to look forward to. Just when they thought they had turned the corner yet again. Strong team though with Gerrard, Torres, carragher starting
Wow GHTT. You couldn’t be more specific, lol!
Anyway, U was impressed by the dippers. It’s not easy to get a draw at Reading.
What do you think guys? Have they turned their corner? Will they slaughter the Reading dragon? Is it truly their year? Will the waiter finally shave that ridiculous goatee?
Costas
As it stands they are just 10 points behind us which is not much and considering that are capable now of going on a unbeaten run till the end with torres, gerrard,crockuilani now fit. plus they are also signing maxi rodriguez.Also they have the mighty Europa League to look forward too. Think they will win the treble.
THIS IS THEIR YEAR!!!
You are right AIG. They are so ominous. I think we are worried about Chelsea and Arsenal, but we haven’t noticed how they have creeped up the table. Going from 8th to 7th isn’t easy.
liverpool looked terrible today:) I think Rafa will be gone in summer and replaced by a 4th italian manager in the prem…the players body language looked like they are getting tired of playing for liverpool…Real Madrid should go after Torres already!
discontent among the chelsea ranks….
http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2010/jan/02/malouda-lampard-chelsea-ancelotti-england
^ I just read that from the Guardian! Trouble’s a brewing!
cant disagree with malouda because this season Lampard has been very poor, possibly because he is playing in an unfamiliar position and not being allowed to roam much as he usually does.
However he was the key man when Chelsea won those titles under jose and in the last 5 years has been their most consistent player
@aig alex is god
lol mate!
@united.george
so much for their team spirit. the rentboys like to act as if they have real team spirit yet this happens. tbh it really does’nt suprise me. they do all those things like pretending to have team spirit so that they can look good in the eyes of the premier league and in world football! those cunts annoy me!
PIG
Neville De Laet Vidic Evra
Valencia Scholes Anderson Giggs
Rooney Owen
Please! I’d love to see them give it a go.
Well said Carrick. And I hope to see a very strong team put out, so we can give the kids a run against the bitters. I am sure they will be capable enough. I want our first XI to thrash the scums tomorow. I really hope we will not be dissapointed, and I envy everyone who will be at the game; the atmosphere will be electric.
All these people saying Owen and Danny will start, I honestly don’t think they will, they will be kept for Tuesday. Fergie has said that there won’t be many changes from Wigan game and it will be a strong team. Rooney will start I reckon.
re the rentboys. It is pathetic. Lumpard only today has said they have the same “belief and team spirit” that they had when they were Champions. Come on United step it up and put these pretender cunts where they belong.
Macheda won’t start. He has a groin injury.
BTW is nani fit for tomorrow or is he in the squad?
aig – Hi mate. No Nani not in squad, according to Fergie it will be a couple of weeks. The strangest thing was though that on Countdown to kickoff on MUTV last night they listed the squad. Then they listed the injuries. No mention whatsoever of Nani.
Costas – Was thinking exactly the same pal. When the fuck is the FSW gonna get rid of that ludicrous goatee? He is unrecognisable from when he took over. Was watching Prem league years 05/06. He must have put on 6 stone since then.
Hargreaves’ Curly Hair – Alright . Cleverley’s loan period was extended till the summer but his United contract runs out then I think. Fergie, fergie sign him up.
King Eric
Yeah he has gained weight hasn’t he? I was watching the reviews from the past 6 seasons recently myself. One of the weirdest things was watching Fergie and the FSW have a warm interaction before the 2-0 win at Old Trafford in October of 2006. I still can’t understand what came over him last year around this period.
King Eric
Hi. Thanks for that
i am a bit puzzled here. 2 weeks back Fergie said nani had an ankle injury adn would be out for 2 weeks and now 2 weeks later his condition still hasnt improved. i seriously feel United are trying to ship him off adn have told him to find a new club. Even when he was fit, he was on the bench most of the times in october and november and hardly came on. That silly interview he gave has really spelt the end for him.Really no need for that. He was poor anyways so he had no right to accuse Fergie of not giving him enough chances
aig – Yeah. I had hoped that he may get a sustained run and show what he could do. Watched Derby away in the FA Cup earlier and he scored a belter. Just don’t think he had what it takes “mentally” to be a United player. A shame really as he has talent for certain. He will find his level at a “smaller club”!
Costas – Yeah I saw that myself a day or two ago. They actually looked quite friendly. I have no idea why he lost it this time last year. I can only put it down to immense pressure.
Here’s the weird thing with Nani guys. Last season we had exactly the same thing with Tevez at least on 2 occasions. He would give an interview at a foreign newspaper where he would complain about not playing enough, but he would deny it afterwards. And Fergie went about it as if he never said anything. Hell, he kept on using him after the comments he made in April and which he didn’t deny.
My point is, why wouldn’t Fergie use him or at least have him on the squad? Going by the Tevez example, I think it’s obvious that he looks past these things. And he did defend Nani in public a while after the interview. We might have to do with an injury which is troublesome and they can’t put a timetable on it. Just guessing right here. I have put my hands in the air regarding Nani.
Costas
The thing with tevez was he got starts but not as much as he wanted. he also cant be compared with nani because he did well for us in the 2 years he was with us but nani has done nothing apart from an odd good goal here and there.As i have always said i loved tevez to bits in 07-08 but his mind was turned around in the later part of 08-09 which caused all these problems.He always gave his 100% for us and i will always rate him as a decent player for us.Same cant be said about nani, he hasnt shown any consistency in 30 months he has been here. cant cross well,cant make the right decisions,cant shoot well consistently. in 2.5 years you have learn to do all these things on a consistent basis especially when he has players like Giggs around him.
The sad part is Nani will always be compared to Ronaldo and we all know he will never even be half of the player Ronaldo was. That comparision will stand for any Portugese player who will play for United.Ronaldo improved gradually every season before announcing his arrival on the world stage in 06-07. This is Nani’s chance but it seems he lacks the confidence and determination that Ronaldo had. In a way Ronaldo has set the standards that very few players will be able to match.
Both good posts. I have to say I aren’t a fan of Nani, never really have been. I know this sounds awful but I just don’t even like the look of him. He is all flash and no substance. A raw Ronaldo at 17 was better than the current Nani. He just doesn’t strike me as a United sort of player.
Costas – The key here though is the timing. If Tevez had been bitching prior to January Fergie may well have fucked him off but the next available “slot” after April was the Summer window. Plus the fact he was only a loan player. Fergie cannot do anything about Nani up till now. Of course now he can. I may be wrong. For all I know he could be injured and still in Fergies plans to remain a United player. Time will tell.
Fucking genius. Not sure why they are saying Ancelotti rotates a lot. It seems the same 11 just about every game to me.
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/football/premier_league/manchester_united/article6973923.ece
Sad though how the nani story turned out. Had a lot of hope when he scored in the community shield and assisted for rooney’s opener against brum on opening day.too much pressure is a burden for some like nani and is not for others like ronaldo and rooney who revel in it.its about trusting your ability and having confidence in it.some have,others dont.
@AIG:
There are obvious differences between the two. No doubt. I wasn’t comparing them in terms of contribution. I was just saying that when he had to, Fergie used Tevez despite of what he was saying to Argentinean press. And there have been cases over the past month were normally Ferguson would have started Nani but he didn’t. The question is. Did Fergie opt to take a harder stance in discipline matters or has Nani come down with an injury that he can’t shake off? In all honesty, I am divided between the two.
@King Eric:
Good point. Ferguson was stuck with Tevez until the end of the year. Also, he knew how popular the Argie was and he might have felt under pressure to use him. And in all fairness, Tevez did make the most of his chances, especially at the end of the season. Something Nani hasn’t done.
Good piece on the rotation. I am of the opinion that you need a core of players to play week in week out in order to become consistent, but it’s a squad game nowdays.
@AIG
It is sad. And this season, he has had no excuses. There was no Ronaldo. You could say that Giggsy’s superb form overshadowed him, but Valencia was unproven on the other wing. If things are done for good, I will always thank him for converting that penalty in Moscow. It wasn’t easy at all. It was sudden death for us.
Costas – Good point about the penalty. There was huge pressure on him to convert the kick and he did. Fair play to him. I also agree you need a core of players to start games. Players like Vidic, Rio when fit, Pat, Fletch , Valencia is getting that way and Wayne. Fergie has in fact been starting these players when available most games. Carrick has played a fair few as well. He looks like he is hitting form again at the right time.
Anyway good night. Off to bed as got an early start in the morning. Bring on the Leeds SCUM.
Good night KIng Eric. Enjoy the occasion tomorrow. 6 years in the making!
Nani seems to do ok when he plays for portugal. He is very involved in the play, and usually plays on the other wing. Dont know why he just does not perform the same at United. He has good skills and speed but his thinking I just dont understand sometimes. He creates all sorts of room for himself but then the last pass is usually not accurate.
I know this sounds bad, but I do hope we hold onto him. I think he gets more pressure because of the comparison to ronaldo due to the portuguese thing.
like I said with chelsea they are so 2006 same with liverpool in the 80s, chelsea are like a cat who have use up all 9 lives it is game over.
