Carrick: Disappointed We Didn’t Win

With just over half an hour to play, Manchester United were 3-0 down at Stamford Bridge. However, after coming back to make it 3-3, Michael Carrick has claimed he is disappointed we didn’t go on to get the win.

“We were slightly disappointed in the end,” said Carrick. “Obviously, when you’re 3-0 down and have your backs against the wall, if someone offers you a point then you’ll be happy with that but getting a third goal with a fair bit of the game to go, we fancied ourselves to go on and win it. We probably looked like the likelier team to do it. They had a good free-kick but it’s a strange feeling in many ways, it was an up and down afternoon and in the end, a point is a point and we can take an awful lot from that game. We played well in the first half and created some opportunities. Even when we were 1-0 down at half-time we were a bit stunned and surprised but that’s how it was and we had to deal with it.”

Carrick was top drawer again yesterday. Didnt give Essien a look in. Nice one Mike.

  2. Raghu says:

I’m really loving Carrick’s form this season, he’s definitely stepped up his game. I think he’ll score another 3 at least this season.

  3. gaz says:

  4. lebomanc says:

Carrick’s been incredible recently and I don’t blame him fornot wanting to win that game, cause it wtould’ve been fantastic if we did… thoguh am still satisfied with the point after that incredible game!

Anyone know what Matt Dickinson wrote that has made Rio go mad on twitter?

  6. Costas says:

    Same here.

  7. YorYor says:

Well, apparently he can only pass sideways and backwards in Aug/Sep and should be sold.
Have we seen anyone own up and say they got it wrong again? And some of these are the ones who say others wear red-tinted glasses and all, fail to see how he is not United quality, are plastic fans blah blah blah.

    Sir Alex says:
“When Chicharito came on, the game changed. He gave them so much trouble with his movement and Danny’s a terrific player but Danny got a bit involved emotionally with those defenders – off the ball incidents and things like that. Whereas, Chicha doesn’t bother his backside about it. He just gets on with it. His movement changed the game for us.”

  9. Paul Parker says:

He’s spot on, we could’ve easily won all 3 but what a consolation coming back from 3 down?
Carrick along with Giggs have been sensational in midfield this season (again).

  10. FletchTHEMAN says:

Carrick was sensational but still to many balls in and to many corners that were unnecessary. Scholes and Carrick are a pair that could have worked better with more movement up front. So glad that Javier came back and showed us what we were missing. Had a meter and a half on the Chav center backs standing right in front of goal. Moment of quality. But how the game changes if Cahill is carded or a pen is given for Danny or Ashley. Sad, we needed a first half goal.

We are giving away to many corners.

  11. Toms says:

I think Carrick had a great game yesterday.

  12. Long time Red says:

Sorry to say that Wellbeck won’t make it, he’s too lightweight, gets bumped off the ball too easily, gives too many passes instead of shooting and does not attack the ball in the box.

How he is chosen in front of Berbatov and Hernandez beats me.

Not got it, Chelsea game to showed off his shortcomings – sorry.

  13. YorYor says:

Long time Red, hope you remember you said this in 3 years time when he’s still a first team starter.

  14. mara says:

Saf is king…he said that chelsea got lucky, because referee had to give us 4 penalties, that we had to take 3 points hahahahha

  15. King Eric says:

Long Time Red – Welbeck won’t make it? Is that a joke? He already has.
