Michael Carrick has revealed today that once upon a time he dreamed of just winning any trophy but since joining United has been spoilt by success.
In his three seasons with the club he has won thee league titles, the European Cup, and the FIFA World Club Cup. On Sunday, he has the opportunity to add the League Cup to his collection.
“I used to dream about winning a trophy and I was lucky enough to win the Premier League in my first year,” said Carrick. “That was great and before I might have settled for it, relaxed and thought, ‘That’s me’. But pretty much straight afterwards, before we went away in the summer, we lost the FA Cup final. It made me wanted to win something else to put that right. Ever since then, as soon as I have won something, I have wanted more. Winning is a great feeling but the desire to achieve extra is the thing that drives you on.”

Whatever we win it’s never enough, I love the hunger and desire the manager gives the players!
It’s amazing his honours when you sum it up . And yet he”ll struggle to get into a starting team for in-ger-land. Thou in saying that I was watching a program about the class of 92 and where they are now(Noe been 2000) and I was watching beckham. Who very rarely shot the ball he’d pinpoint pass it into the net and I starting thinking how carrick can 40 yard pass the ball to a players little toe but his scoring rate for his passing skill is very low
I think the penny has finally dropped with Carrick about what it means to play for United, we’re not City and 12 months for us without a trophy is a disaster. This is the attitude we need approaching squeeky bum time.
Here’s a question I have guys. Why has every England manager held Barry at a higher esteem than Carrick? Not saying that they are wrong. I just find it weird considering how vital Carrick is for a club like Man United.
Top man, had a shaky start of season but back again confidence restored.The benifit of having Micheal and him playing regularly, along with an other Micheal we have at United is One Senior Cornetto is paying a great deal of attention so they want to shine.
Micheal Pop one bye Friedel on Sunday for the lads.

Carrick > Barry. I hope Capello notices this by June
Costas – Barry has been shown up this season for what he is, a fucking pub player. I do not rate the greedy cunt one bit. Slow, shit at tackling, lazy and never scores.
It just shows the mentality that Fergie instills in his players. They are all winners. Nowadays too many top stars think winning a Cup or one title is enough. They dine out on it for the rest of their careers. Gerrard is a prime example. Not United players, they do not rest on laurels. No sooner is a cup won they move on to the next one. I like Carrick both as a player and a character. Can’t have been easy for the lad coming in and wearing Roy’s old shirt. Some player to live up to. As Fergie always says Michael gets better as the season wears on which has been very evident of late save for the Everton game.
Barry has been a regular for England for the last 2-3 years right from his Villa days where his performances were much better. Capello ha started him and though he has been average England has been good, so whey to change a winning team?.
Carrick has been average himself when he has played for England. He has never got a sustained run in the team, that may well be a reason.
Anyways will be better if Carrick gets an extended rest in the summer rather than being selected for England. They are not going to win the WC anyway so who really cares.He will be on the bench though for most of their games
Carrick was brilliant against Arsenal. So keep that up lad, none of this Everton shit

Read that Gerrard is now the leading goal scorer in european competitions with 33 goals, surpassing Shearer. Can someone fill me in how many goals does Rooney have? We would definitely like to have him up there wouldn’t we?
@Marq
Rooney has 18 goals i think in Europe.
gerrard is highest goalscorer in European competitions but not in Champions League. Scholes is highest there with 26 goals
@Marq
Rooney is on 18. He will surpass Gerrard over the next 5 years. Is this only for Englishmen? Scholes is on 26, Giggs is on 27 and Ruud had 38 for us.
@AIG
Yeah, I guess Carrick hasn’t replicated for England his form for United. But in the Premier League, I feel he has been a better player than Barry since the 07-08 season. You are right. The worst thing is to go to the World Cup and be on the bench all the time. And in Hargo’s absence, I am afraid that that will be Carrick’s fate. If Hargo was fit, then Carrick probably wouldn’t have been called up.
@Costas
England lack a proper defensive midfielder and had hargo been fit and played a couple of months he would have been given the nod ahead of Barry or Carrick. However he isn’t and hence they persist with Barry
I thought Barry was pretty good in 07-08 but in 08-09 he was average and this year he has been very disappointing.Carrick isn’t a player who settles instantly but needs time to settle and then gradually gets better and better as we are seeing for the last 2 years. If England persist with him over a period of time he will deliver there
Massive fan of carrick, love to watch him play football and these comment just make me like him more!
Also fuck Barry the cunt, what does he actually bring to any team take carrick any day!
Carrick has clearly been well taught by Giggsy, who has constantly talked in exactly similar terms, about how as soon as you win one trophy the buzz goes almost immediately and then you want to win the next. My feelings as a supporter too. I think Carrick isn’t more highly regarded because he starts every season slowly so that in the autumn/ early winter others have already hit form, leaving Carrick looking insipid. So far he’s had the last laugh over the last 3 seasons, let’s hope he does it again, and again, and again, and again…
King Eric – In total agreement with you on that mate. Barry is an overrated cunt who is fucking slow. He was totally dominated by Fletch in our league win over them back in September. I am a big fan of Carrick and I think he has contributed massively to our success since he’s been at the club. People say he was over priced at £18.6m – unfortunately that’s the premium you pay for British players – but when you look at the bigger picture, it’s actually a bargain in respect of what we have won in the last 3 seasons.
