Michael Carrick has spoken about his disappointment following Manchester United’s 1-0 defeat at West Brom, following a string of better performances and results.
He claims that at half-time the players felt like they could win the game in the second half, despite Juan Mata’s earlier red card.
We are very disappointed. All things considered, we weren’t brilliant, but we were pretty comfortable for most of it and they weren’t causing us many problems. It is a setback but there are some massive games around the corner. Things were looking good this week; we were on the up, everyone was so positive. This is a blow for us but we need to get back, ready for Thursday.
In the second half, I thought we could go on and win it. That’s what we believed at half-time and that’s how it looked like it would pan out at the start of the second half. They filled the edge of the box with their big lads and, with a man down, it’s difficult to get men into the box. I thought Anthony did well and at times looked threatening but we couldn’t quite take that chance to get us back in the game. They have had one chance, one proper shot, taken it and scored and that’s where the game was won. So we are sitting here with nothing now.
