Casillas: Real Madrid Until I Die… So I Won’t Join United

Iker Casillas has been linked with a move to Manchester United by some newspapers, with Edwin Van der Sar set to retire at the end of the season and Ben Foster suffering from several injuries.

The 28-year-old has distanced himself from the rumours though, claiming Real Madrid are in his heart and there’s not a chance of him leaving for United or anyone else.

“There is absolutely nothing, neither from United nor another club,” Casillas said. “Neither my agent nor Madrid have informed me of any offer, and nobody has called me either. It’s speculation, which is what happens when the transfer market is open. I have a contract with Madrid until 2017 and what I’m thinking about is completing it. Everybody knows Madrid are in my heart and that I’m a White until I die. I joined Real Madrid as a child and Madrid is my home. The fans should be calm, there is nothing at all from Manchester or any other club. I’m from Spain and from Madrid, and that’s it.”

It was always somewhat of a pipe-dream, I really don’t think anyone believed we were actually going to sign him.

  2. Gudjohnsen says:

I agree with Stephen. I never expected those rumours to be true, it was well known that Casillas will never leave Spain…or Real Madrid for that matter.

  3. CURTIS says:

    yup pipe dream..
but with our defence and foster or vds i remain confident
but i somehow hate the fact that all players outside uk want to play for madrid it sickens me…
i feel that had we won the cl we would be up there as a really gr8 side in the minds of the latin american players and lets face it although their opinion means shit to us it affects us in the long run as they have some of, if not the best players in the world and they continue seeing MANCHESTER UNITED as just a stepping stone to getting their dream of playing fo real

  4. AlphaRS says:

    Never wanted a Fascist Reject.

  5. Devilton says:

As much chance of Rooney playing for Madrid. So yeah, it was NEVER going to happen.

  6. kshetrajna says:

Offtopic:But i am hoping the Aguero rumours are true…Lots of reports that united are reportedly interested…What do you guys think?

  7. Costas says:

I don’t want Aguero at that price. Not too sure about getting another Argey either

  8. FailsworthDevil says:

I think its nice to see a player genuinelly pinning his heart to his team… sommat we see less and less of over the last few years… they are all happy to kiss the badge (Tevez)…. and then walk away… so fair play to Casillas… quality keeper, would be awesome at United… but i admire his loyalty.

  9. FailsworthDevil says:

I dont want Aguero, not in a month of Sundays… Argentinians are not loyal…well not when it comes to United… so for £52m they can shove that rumour in a can or corned beef and fook it back off to Buenos Aires.

  10. kshetrajna says:

i dont know about that one…the only reason i might not want Aguero is because he is not an out and out striker …but how many of those kind of strikers are there who are real quality…Benzema is good no doubt but then he really has not been really tested in a tough league…so i would say if given the choice to take a risk with Benzema or take a risk by giving more chances to Kiko and Welbeck then i would surely choose the latter…But Aguro on the other hand is way more talented than Tevez so it would be a good move…But then again not at 50+million…40 at the max…

  11. Gudjohnsen says:

I’m not sure about Aguero. I also think Maradona will always be butting in if we buy him, saying he needs to play in this position and this often and so on. We don’t need that kind of meddling in the press.

  12. SULLY says:

Iker Casillas is a pure Legend in the true sense of the word. Undoubtedly the best goalie in the world. Anyone who can keep cleansheets in a team full of useless defenders in the last 6 or 7 years is a class apart. I’ve always wanted him at United but deep down I knew, sadly he’ll never quit the virus. Respect this lad.

  13. Tony Starks says:

The papers are coming out with all kinds of stories because they have no idea of our real targets.. That’s how it should be.. Why would we make offer for Casillas when everyone knows he’s Real for life..

  14. ajopaul says:

Woow! chill mate its just a rumour, no one’s gonna remove ur white shirt :)

  15. Muggaz says:

Iker is absolute class… I remember when I was about 16 and I saw him in goals for Madrid in a European Cupo final… can’t remember who it was against, but the lad was 17 years old… I could not beleive it… I have a tremendous amount of respect for him and he is another reason why Spain will win the next world cup.

  16. FailsworthDevil says:

    Sully mate…. hows tricks pal?

  17. King Eric says:

“so for £52m they can shove that rumour in a can or corned beef and fook it back off to Buenos Aires.” Spot on Failsworth. As I said last night no more Argies, especially not relations of the fat Coke cheat!

  18. King Eric says:

Off topic – The funny thing is, every other teams fans like the dippers actually believe these rumours that United are gonna sign Casillas, Villa, Torres. Then when nothing happens they think we have been rejected. Deluded cunts.

  19. FailsworthDevil says:

Pmsl Eric… even the Tranny Torres is getting dragged into it… like he is the fuckin agent of Villa lol…

He wont sign for these, he wont sign for them… do we smell a little bit of worry from the Tranny Twat??

  20. King Eric says:

Failsworth – Yeah I reckon they are worried even though we are hearing the usual “it’s our season” and “it’s liverpools time”. Yeah yeah. I would be worried too if I had the prospect of losing our midfield and replacing them with a right back who can’t actually defend! and 18MILLION! Wtf?

  21. Stephen says:

    In Rafa we trust…

  22. Gudjohnsen says:

A player who signs a contract till 2017 intends on staying at the same club forever. Casillas will never leave Madrid. Besides, I don’t think we need to fill our goalkeeping position. We have VDS for one more season and then Ben Foster will take his place, I think that’s Fergie’s plan by giving him a long term contract. The press should at least try to link us with more sensible targets than Casillas…

  23. Ben says:

It was obvious that we were never going to get Casillas. We’re just as likely to sign someone like Gerrard.

Regarding Aguero, the only way we’ll be able to sign him is if we pay his release clause. I think he’s a top prospect, does anyone know the price of his release clause (I’d assume it’s between £40m – £50m)?

  24. FailsworthDevil says:

Release is £52m or 60m euros… and a total waste of money… if you ask me… i dont want another argie plan n simple..

Plus for us to sign spanish players due to the new tax laws over here, and the state of the euro being so low, we would have to offer stupid money to even compete with the salaries offered in spain…

Its 50% tax now on players wages… so you think if a player wants £6m after tax (£115k a week), that would mean before tax we would have to pay £172.5k a wee or (a couple of quid short of £9m per season)…. put that to a 5 year contract = £45m, plus a £50m transfer fee…that totals £95m on someone you do not know that is gonna make it in the PL… no thanks…

  25. SULLY says:

Failsworth bro… You been about on RoM quite alot these days eh. Good to see that your missus is’nt abstaining you from RoM. Good to see you more n more often. You and King Eric, I always look forward to your lots posts. Always spot on. What you reckon about Benzema? Any chance he’s gonna be one of ours?

  26. Corea says:

    who cares ?

  27. gotta hate tiny tears says:

    buffo0n

  28. ¡No Pasarán! says:

Honestly, who cares? Why would we want this Francoist collaborator as a goalkeeper? I hate Real Madrid and I hate that party-financed central organ which is known as MARCA, everything they stand for is quite honestly repulsive.

    THE RED FLAG
    UNITED’S FLAG IS DEEPEST RED
IT SHROUDED ALL OUR MUNICH DEAD
