Whilst I’ll concede hearing this song sung by 75,000 fans at Old Trafford would so very impressive indeed, I can’t get away from its associations with England rugby. Still, a good effort.

On the forum there is a monthly paper review of how United have got on, with members giving their view on what they consider to be our best match or who has been our most effective player. Click here to read the latest edition.

The competition was launched at the beginning of September with the idea of creating a new chant for a United player who doesn’t already have one.

We’ve been inundated with suggestions, raging from the mildly amusing to the hilarious, although so far, most of them are just the lyrics. Ideally, we’d like you to make a video to accompany your new chant.

Here is an example of one we’ve had so far:

Don’t forget, the prize up for grabs is any t-shirt, hoodie, mug, mousemat (basically, anything apart from the jackets) from MancuniaMerchandise.com, and we’ll ship to anywhere in the World.

If the idea of making a video is pretty daunting for you, it needn’t be. Most computers come with Windows Movie Maker, which is a pretty idiot proof tool for making videos. It lets you upload any pictures or music you have saved on to your computer.

Once you have made the video, it can be easily uploaded at YouTube, or even easier, you can just e-mail me the file.

A year further on, the “Sing A Song For The Unsung” competition is launched.

Basically, this a competition where entrants will be asked to create a chant for a United player. But not just any United player, oh no, a player that doesn’t have a song, or at least, not one regularly sung at Old Trafford.

Rio Ferdinand (“Rio! Rio! Rio!” is hardly a song), Michael Carrick, Edwin Van der Sar, Dimitar Berbatov, Nani, Patrice Evra, Fabio and Rafael and Darren Fletcher are the available players.

You can simply enter with the lyrics chant, or, as would be preferable, create a video as well. The more creative the better. Here’s an example (by Mikeyt086) of what we’re looking for:
