According to the Manchester Evening News, Manchester United have signed Freddie Veseli from Manchester City.

The 19-year-old central defender joined the club in 2008 but has become frustrated by the lack of first team opportunities. He made his debut for the club in a pre-season friendly in the summer but when the dreadful Stefan Savic got the nod ahead of him during Vincent Kompany’s absence, the Veseli clearly realised it was time to leave.

Veseli captain the Swiss U-17 team to World Cup victory back in 2009 and the City academy boss, Jim Cassell, sung his praises. “Frederick is an exceptionally talented defender renowned for his ability on the ball,” he said. “He can also play in a number of positions and could eventually develop into a central midfield player.”

However, Veseli’s agent has claimed the paper has jumped the gun and that nothing has been agreed yet. After a trip to Liverpool yesterday, we might not be the reds that the youngster has signed for.

Reports this morning suggested that Mame Biram Diouf has agreed a loan move to Hannover, however, it has been confirmed that he has signed a two and a half year deal.

German site, Kicker, reported that he passed his medical this morning and is ready for a permanent move for around £1.5m. Hannover are currently 7th in the league, 10 points behind Bayern Munich, having scored just 21 goals in 19 games.

“I am happy that with Mame Diouf we have another alternative up front,” said Hannover coach, Mirko Slomka. “We need to bring him in fast so he can help us in the Bundesliga and the Europa League.”

“His demands are unrealistic as far as we’re concerned,” the manager said.

One of Morrison’s friends showed him a picture on Twitter of the player in a United shirt, but with “CASH” photoshopped across the front. Morrison then replied to someone claiming he was asking for £50k a week by saying “got it wrong mate not asked for anything of [sic] united yet.”

If Morrison is allowed to leave in the summer his fee will be decided by a tribunal and is likely to be considerably less than the £1m that Newcastle have offered. If United weren’t confident of keeping the player, would they not have accepted Newcastle’s money? Or are they biding their time until the end of the window? They surely can’t expect anyone to pay more than the Newcastle offer. Hmmm. Watch this space.

Sir Alex Ferguson has today confirmed the rumours that Newcastle have had a bid rejected for Ravel Morrison.

The player who has been long tipped to be the most talented player to come through our youth team since the likes of David Beckham and Paul Scholes looks set to leave Manchester United.

It’s a desperately disappointing situation for the club and fans, given how much time and effort has been invested in him. United have stood by him despite his numerous off field problems but with his contract up in the summer and the club not meeting his wage demands, it appears he will be off.

“His agent has been working hard to get him another club,” said Ferguson. “We’ve offered him terms which he’s refused, so that’s where it is. We’ve rejected an offer from Newcastle and it’s now down to how that progresses.”

Asked if Morrison still had a future at United, Ferguson said: “His demands are unrealistic as far as we’re concerned.”

If United can’t tame him, I don’t believe any club will, but that doesn’t change the fact it is a terrible waste of talent. One day he will look back at this time and wonder what the fuck he was thinking about. Here’s hoping something can be done between now and the summer to sort his head out but it’s not looking promising.

Darron Gibson has agreed a four and a half year deal with Everton today. His contract was due to expire in the summer and the club were not interested in offering him a new deal.

Gibson had been desperate to make a go of his Manchester United career and has waited until he is 24-years-old to make the move on after failing to hold down a regular place in the team. Last March he anticipated he would open talks on a new contract but these talks never happened. Instead, United accepted a bid from Sunderland for the midfielder, but the deal fell through.

The high points of his United career were probably the goals he scored in the Champions League, getting one against Bayern Munich in the quarter-finals in 2010 and another against Schalke in the semi-final of 2011.

Gibson was generally an unpopular member of the squad due to his lack of ability. Whilst he showed he had a great shot on him, he was far too inconsistent with this and his all round game was not to the standards United should expect.

Reports in the press suggest that Gibson has gone for £2m, which is a pretty good deal for United when you consider he had just a few months remaining on his contract. He will wear the number ’4′ shirt at Everton.

Good luck, Darron. No doubt you’ll score a screamer against us one day though.

The Independent has run a story today which claims that Wayne Rooney and Sir Alex Ferguson have fallen out which has lead to the striker looking for a move away from the club, again.

Acting quickly, in a statement issued last night by the club and Rooney’s agent, Paul Stretford, it was confirmed that Rooney has no intention of leaving United.

“Manchester United and Wayne Rooney have been made aware of the theme of an article in tomorrow’s Independent newspaper. We have not seen the detail but can assure all United fans that the Manager and the Club are committed to Wayne Rooney and Wayne is committed to the Manager and the Club. The player and the Manager have always had and retain the utmost respect for each other and look forward to working together in the coming seasons. Any suggestion that Manchester United and Wayne Rooney are to part company is complete nonsense.”

Rooney supported this statement on his Twitter account, saying: “The independent are talking absolute rubbish my future is with Manchester United and the club and I are totally commited to each other. The manager and I have no issues and anyone who says different don’t know what they are talking about.”

His wife Coleen supported this on Twitter: “Haha!! Rumours, rumours, rumours!! And newspapers up to there same old tricks! Chatting it as usual! Get better sources!”

The journalist behind the story, James Lawton, was interviewed on Radio 5 Live last night. A few drinks in to his Friday night, Lawton quickly back-peddled on his story, slurring his words for added comedy value.

“The point I’m trying to make in the story, and I think it’s a valid one, is that there is a real problem in the relationship between the Manchester United manager and his star player,” he said. “I stand by the essence of what I’ve said in that there is a problem. Ferguson is famous for asking for trust and loyalty in his players and when that breaks, it can have a lasting effect. But if Rooney starts to perform to the level of consistent professionalism, which is a reasonable expectation, perhaps the crisis will pass.”

Mame Biram Diouf has claimed that Wigan are amongst several clubs who are interested in signing him on loan this January.

After an average loan spell at Blackburn last season, scoring 6 goals in 29 games, including a hattrick against Norwich in the League Cup and a goal against Arsenal, he is hoping to end the season well so he can get in United’s team next year.

“It is an option at the moment and a good one,” he said. “I want to go and play week in, week out and try to impress Sir Alex Ferguson. If I can finish the season strongly, I can challenge for a position next season like Danny has done this season. Wigan could be a key for me. I have done okay for Blackburn, but need to do well on my next loan. There are other teams interested as well.”

It has been confirmed today that Manchester United youngster, Ryan Tunnicliffe, will remain at Peterborough on loan until the end of February, although this could later be extended for longer. He has made 24 appearances for the club since joining them in the summer.

It has taken several weeks for an extension to be agreed but Barry Fry, the director of football at Peterborough, spoke highly of the teenager when the deal was being talked about.

“One day I can definitely see him getting into the first-team at Manchester United, but remember that he is still only 18 at the minute and he’s still learning the game,” he said. “When he does come on from the bench he always makes an impact and helps change the game for sure. I think that he has got one hell of a future in front of him because he is very strong, aggressive in winning the ball and goes from box-to-box all game and there aren’t many of those around in the game at the moment. I can definitely see a bright future for him and hopefully Darren can persuade the boy and Manchester United to keep him here till the end of the season and if that is the case it will be a great signing for us.”
