CHAMPIONS!

Manchester United were tonight crowned Reserves League North champions. The lads needed just three points from their remaining five games but after going 3-0 down to Newcastle Reserves tonight, it looked unlikely that the title would be wrapped up tonight.

However, after four goals from Will Keane, one each from Ritchie De Laet and Davide Petrucci, our Reserves were named champions with a 6-3 win. Jesse Lingard put in another great performance and claimed three assists in a game that saw Keane score his 17th goal in his 23rd appearance.

They now stand 7 points clear at the top with two games in hand over second placed Liverpool, with a game against Southern League champions to play.

CAMPIONE CAMPIONE OLE OLE OLE!!! CONGRATULATIONS BOYS. Looking forward to seeing Petrucci give will Keane a defence splitting pass which keane finishes with aplomb in the champions league final. ONE DAY. ONE DAY!!!!

  2. Kings says:

Well done lads. Now for the first team.

  3. FletchTHEMAN says:

Fantastic achievement by the young reds. Thought they were dead and burried at 3-0 down but to fabulous strikes by Will Keane made it a bit more respectable at the half. The rest they say is history.

Will Keane is a fabulous striker and has been a key player. But the midfield wizardry of Petrucci and work rate of the entire team are to be praised as well.

    Congratulations to the young reds!

  4. Pratyush says:

Anyone remember this dive by Adam Johnson?

He basically kicked the defender and then fell over himself, yet got the penalty. Don’t recall too much media fuss over this?

    Bloody ABU media. Screw them!

And condolences to Zibbie and family.

  5. The Berb Is The Word says:

    Congratulations to the reserves!!

    Well done United Reserves!

Paul Pogba might grab himself a brace of medals this season. Go son!

  13. WillieRedNut says:

    Up high, never slow!

  14. Saad says:

We’ve got such a fantastic group of young players at this moment: the Keane twins, Pogba, Petrucci, Tunni, Cole, Lingard and Zeki Fryers…this group deserves to win the final against Villa. Failure to do so would be a crying shame.

Years from now, could we be looking back and recalling this “Class of 2011″??? I certainly hope so.

  15. WillieRedNut says:

Holey moley, them Wigan boys sure are warriors!

  16. Giles Oakley says:

Brilliant!! Now let’s go for the Double!

  17. James1878 says:

Really was a great 55 minutes from United tonight. Will Keane took all of his goals really well, as did De Laet and Petrucci. Got to say I thought De Laet was excellant tonight at left back and then up front with Keano. Hopefully we will see him on the pre-season tour again with a chance for some first team football. One last point, we have some cracking young players coming through the ranks this year and I can’t wait to see them fulfill their potential!!

  18. Kings says:

Giggs12Gerrard0 – Hello my friend, I’m good thanks. Hope you are well. Been busy at work, still keep in touch with King Eric through texts as well as our good friend Cedars. Thanks pal. Let’s try and win our next two games and bag title number 20. One Love. One United.

  19. Redbilly says:

WRN- that’s what makes the PL special. At times, even the drop zoners can shine. As SAF. And others have pointed out . These teams are fighting for PL places. That’s one hell of a motivator. Well done Wigan.

  20. united.george says:

RVP does not show class at all in his behavior, refusing to shake caldwell’s hand, making fun of his own dutch team mate, Krul…..he kind of is a cunt.

  21. James21 says:

Winning from 3-0 down is what Utd are all about. Well Done Young Reds.

The kids are alright. The future is bright.

  25. denton davey says:

FletchTheMan @ 21:05: “the midfield wizardry of Petrucci”

How good can this kid be ? He’s had a terrible time with injuries but is only now beginning to play himself into the reckoning – is he the real “secret” ?

  26. Sparkz says:

Petrucci and Lingard looked really good. I’ve got a feeling that they, along with Keane and possibly Tunni could go on the pre season tour. Probably get loaned out next season though.

  27. NBI Red Onion says:

    how did Pogba play?

  28. King Eric says:

Will Keane is top drawer. One lethal finisher. Give him a chance and he will bury it from any position. Looks to have got faster too these last couple of years and is a strong lad that holds the ball up and can walk past players. He reminds me of a more mobile Berba. Great comeback with some very good players in that side. A lot of them tonight were the youth cup winning side. Masterstroke from Warren putting De Laet up front for his pace. Well done lads.

  29. King Eric says:

Saad. Hello mate. Was thinking the same myself. A REALLY talented group of players that some could go all the way and have been playing together for years.

Van Persie is a great player but a fucking cunt. Spoilt babyish bastard.

  30. FletchTHEMAN says:

Denton. Agree about Petrucci. Injuries have been diabolical. Hope he builds himself up and can overcome. Glory Glory, the future is bright. Hope it includes several of these youngsters making the step up.

    6 unanswered goals. Oi!

But to be fair, I watched the match and we were very very unlucky to be 3-0 down.

  31. mattos says:

well done boys congratulations on becoming the champions

  32. MyCowIsTheBest says:

    GLORY GLORY!

  33. Gorse Hill Red says:

Let’s hope Will Keane who was the top scorer in the league can put a hatrick past Villa and step up to the plate next season in the first team.

Can you imagine if Liverpool had won it, they would claim it as another league title like some of their fans tried to say about the war time titles. Pricks.

  34. Gorse Hill Red says:

On another note I think is about time we copy the Spanish system and allow reserve teams in the actual league. Would have proper competition and really test those players.

  35. bayoRed says:

    Congratulations to the lads!

While we are developing and nurturing our lads other clubs are waiting for their contracts to expire then whisper ”sweet promises in their ears. There should be laws against this. Rumours of Fryers to Tottenham, loved his debut performances…. grrrrhhhhh!!!!

  36. bayoRed says:

Does anyone have a links to any highlights of the reserves match. Would be grateful…. sigh…. miss Smartalex in times like these.

  37. ClaytonBlackmoresTan says:

    Absolutely tremendous.

  38. 12 cantonas says:

    yooohoooooooooooooooooooooooo
