Chelsea Keeper: Ron Will Miss United More Than They’ll Miss Him

On the day that Cristiano Ronaldo passes his Real Madrid medical and is unveiled in front of 80,000 fans, Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech reckons our former winger will miss us more than we’ll miss him.

Whilst Real Madrid gushed over him as one of the ‘chosen ones’ during the unveiling ceremony, Cech isn’t convinced that his absence is going to make an awful amount of difference to how we do next season.

“Ronaldo had three exceptional years, especially the last two, but I think Man United is a club that never relies on one person,” said Cech. “Of course he scored a lot of important goals, but I think that he gained as well from the way the whole team played. So maybe he will miss them more than they will miss him. Who knows? Maybe they will miss him terribly, maybe not. In football you never know, and I don’t think they’ll be much weaker because they have the money and they have the possibilities now to replace him, and to get to the new season as strong as before.”

Just watching him being paraded around. He seems happy enough. All the best Ronnie.

  4. mctavish says:

    what a circus he’s joined

  5. Coogie says:

He sure has come along way from the bucked toothed skinny teenager we first seen in August 2003!

  6. boam6 says:

I give ronaldo my best wishes he’s followed his dream united now need to find a replacement I no people might say we’ve got Valencia but we’ve got like 100 million left if you believe reports hopefully fergie will buy someone of pure quality I like aguero but I feel he’s to small although he has got exceptional talent I don’t no who else would you want fergie to bring in?

  7. spanish plumber says:

He is right , Ronaldo was very well looked after at UTD, from the manager to the other players, we don’t put the kind of pressure on players as other fans do. and look how well he was carried after the Roony sending off. great player loved to watch him and proud he was ours, but i have looked down a few times when a re play has shown an obvious dive.

I also don’t think we were a great team last year. even when we had some good runs we didn’t look great, look we all used to criticise Arsenal for 1.0 and Chelsea more recently.

I don’t know why, I think we might just be awesome this time, i can feel it.lol

  8. MUFC the Religion says:

I like him more than Tevez. Who doesn’t.

  9. redrick says:

fuck me! wat was that all about, that was a circus.

  10. FailsworthDevil says:

He can go fuck himself as far as im concerned..

He asked to leave and then went straight over to LA until things were sorted out…

    Shitbag.

Tevez “The fans wont turn against me if i join citeh”… …. he can go fuck himself as far as im concerned..

Any player that is at united and doesnt think its big enough or good enough can go fuck themselves.. plain and simple..

We will be a better team without them.

  11. OTRed says:

Is anyone watching the presentation? I’m not bitter but thats a little obscene and over the top. If we signed Messi for £250m, I’m honest when I say I’ll cringe if we ever did that. Just a press conference would be enough.

  12. FailsworthDevil says:

Singing “Viva Madrid”… the little cock sucker…

I think he will fail at Madrid, coz there is a hell of a lot of ego’s there, and he will be expected to deliver from day 1 for £80m and he wont get the same sort of support of the virus as he did from us… and he wont have the same sort of manager… he will prob have about 343465346 different managers in his 6 year career…

  13. redseven says:

yeah i like him more than tevez, but then i like mcmanamum more than tevez, and we all feckin hate mcmanaman!

  14. mummy85 says:

fuck ronaldo, he’s a dirty spick bastard and now he’s finally got his wish 2 play in a team full of grease monkeys, just hope we draw madrid in the champions league and teach the dirty bastards that it takes more than money 2 produce a great team!! UNITED TIL I DIE!

  15. TheMightyReds says:

Ronny looks wrong in that shirt, i’m so used to seeing him in the red of Manchester! I hope he does well for himself. Tevez can get fucked!

  16. Ulster Red says:

wer cud i see this intro for ronnie…apart from sky sports?

  17. TheMightyReds says:

  18. KJ says:

Thanks Tevez, now I can actually feel good about Ronaldo!

Im not gonna buy his Madrid shirt, but at least Ill wish him well, like everyone else here

And ofcourse, watch his goals, Ill miss those a lot

  19. Gotta hate tiny tears says:

  20. MUFC the Religion says:

  27. Mark the Devil says:

Well i hope he does ok but the nazis flop. Time to move on and prove we can do it without him, come on number 19, OT wants you.

  28. mctavish says:

    GHTT
its not on my favourite channel list either lol
wish utd wud do the same and have mutv freeview

  29. redseven says:

mutv worth the subscription just to hear paddy crerand try and say paul scholes scores goals magic!

  30. TonyBee says:

GHTT- agree with your post… aclusterfuck of a team ….Ronnie will find himself kicked even harder over there, and I wonder what the other Galactico’s will feel when he is sitting on his arse waving at the fucking ref for a free kick and they have to chase back to cover for him…??

ps…. on different topic heard on Talksport that Crybaby Terry is rumoured to be a target for them dopey cunts at Wastelands…

  31. Kings says:

FailsworthDevil – I find it very hard to give my best wishes to a player who expresses a wish to leave United. Of course it’s easy for me to say that as a United fan, but that is how I feel. That is why I still have a lot of respect for the following players as they left because Fergie couldn’t guarantee them regular first team football:

    Nicky Butt
    Phil Neville
    Teddy Sheringham
    Andy Cole

All of these players still hold a high regard for Fergie and United.

The way he is grinning and almost ejaculating at tonights unveiling makes me resent him. I know that might sound a but extreme, but I just feel he is giving United a two finger salute. And him going on the charm offensive about coming back to United to say goodbye to the players and more importantly Fergie doesn’t change how I feel. I know he said it is his dream to play for Madrid, but the way he went in to hiding in the States makes him a bit of a cunt in my opinion.

I am currently listening to Sky Sports News as I am writing this, and all Liverpool fans are emailing in and saying that they will definitely win the title now he’s gone. Well it is their year this year….isn’t it??!

    In Fergie we trust.

  32. mctavish says:

    kings
its bound to be their year, you can’t be wrong 19yrs on the trot, can you????

  33. SINGH7 says:

SAW SOME FANS WEARING UTD TOPS (RONALDO 7 ) DURING THE PRESENTATION AND WHAT A LOAD OF BOLLOX THAT WAS ,FUKIN CIRCUS ,HYPE ,,WATEVER U WANNA CALL IT .MADE ME FEEL SICK.IF THER EVER WAS A TIME THAT I DIDNT WANT THEM CUNTS AT MADRID NOT TO WIN ANYTHING IT HAS TO BE NOW…..VIVA BARCA (I KNOW THEY BEAT US IN THE FINAL BUT AT LEAST THEY GO ABOUT THINGS THE RIGHT WAYAS THEY SAY”WE MAKE PLAYERS NOT BUY THEM”)

  34. sambios says:

I am glad that we get rid of the viruses cuz Ronaldo and Tavez were virus in ManUtd dressing room. Now we have fresh and healthy environment and with that we can win more trophies.

  35. Jack says:

    best of luck ron

  36. MUFC the Religion says:

    ROOOOOONNNNEEEEEEEYYYYYYY. nuff said.

  37. javac says:

@FailsworthDevil : Come on, you really believe that Ronnie and Real will fail? Barca will run them close for a year then Real will blow them out of the water. Ribery is hard working and will compliment their all-out style, plus they have more cash to burn on defenders, now, January or next season. Albiol isn’t bad either. Ramos? Improving like Rio at Utd. They will win their league and will need better than United last season to stop them in the CL. Yes, we got to the final, but then we got humbled. Fergie is a winner and he will have dissected that loss in Rome in his usual pro style knowing we failed tactically and as a unit. Of the new Real, Pepe is their only weak spot. He’s so far beneath Vida, He’s not even fit to lick Nemanja’s boots.

@Spanish plumber: Your right, we were winning games way too tight for me. 1-0 wins just aren’t good enough for a team like us. Aging legends and average players like Nani, Carrick, Park (my fave of last year), Tevez etc, and Fletcher needs to show he HAS improved THAT much next season and is not a one year wonder.

Like Rentboy Chelsea, Madrid have raised the bar. We need to rise up to it. And we will. As always. Berbatov and Owen to score a total of 50 next season, just you watch. Keep the Ronnie cash in hand and build the best again.

  38. Kings says:

mctavish – of course. Silly of me to think otherwise!!

  39. DanS says:

    Who cares! Bore off.

  40. Sir Fergieculous says:

    http://goal.com/en/photo/list?id=51537

wtf? why would he do that?

  41. UnitedFan says:

cant believe he kissed their badge already

  42. Gudjohnsen says:

I don’t hold any grudges against Ronnie anymore. I’m more excited about United’s future and how our new signings and youth players will develop. I thank Ronnie for his contribution (and the ridiculous transfer fee we received for him) for those 6 years he played with us, I’m sure he’ll always have a special place for both Fergie and United in his heart. What he has said about Fergie and United in the press is respectful, unlike the whining Argie cunt Tevez. I wasn’t happy with Ron last summer but I’ll try to understand his point of view by putting myself in those footsteps and exchange Real Madrid for Manchester United (which is of course my dream club).

  43. Carrick's fucking magic says:

i like him more than tevez…..they’re still yapping on real madrid tv
good luck to ronnie tho…i never thought i’d say that

  44. utdforever says:

As a Utd fan it’ll be interesting to see how we do without Ronaldo. We’ve got class in Valencia and I honestly think Nani can become a star if he’s given a good run in the first team. Huntelaar or Eto would be a nice addition but I don’t think they are necessary. We’ve got Rooney, Berbs (who will have an outstanding season me thinks) and now Owen (Great signing Fergie!) those 3 with Macheda and Welbeck are plenty of options going forward, especially if you throw Giggsy up top which Fergie likes to do. I think we need to buy a talented central midfielder. Yes we have Ando, Fletcher and Carrick but I fear for Hargreaves. I pray he’ll recover as he’s a little tenacious beast of a player. Either way, as we are right now I think we’ll be well equipped for another battle of a season. Eyes on Mascherano and Alonso leaving as I think Liverpool will be our main threat this year. Utd Forever!

  45. Gregory Magnesia says:

    Let’s move on! Rebuilding

    1999 Year of the TREBLE!
    Ole Gunnar Solskjaer
    Dwight Yorke
    Andy Cole
    Teddy Sheringham

2009 Year of the TREBLE! (revisit)
    Wyanne Rooney
    Dimitar Berbatov
    Michael Owen
?????????????? ( Just we wait, Fergie! just one more )

  46. Averio68 says:

I HOPE THEY FAIL! – FAIL! – FAIL!. I hope that virus of a team win nothing.

  47. Gary says:

It’s sad to see Ronny not wearing the red of United no more, but we all knew this day would come. I hope if he ever returns he will get a fantastic reception. I just wish he had stayed a couple of seasons longer, then maybe he would have gained legendary status. One thing is for sure, no one who ever watched him play will forget him. From the moment he made his debut against Bolton you just knew the kid was destined for greatness.

    VIVA RONALDO

  48. United4eva says:

Ronaldo’s gone. Finished. Thats it. Same with Tevez. Gone. Real Madrid are a vulgar money machine. You see the kind of ridiculous circus they have when they win La Liga with dancing girls and light shows? Compare that with the United players walking around the pitch in a dignified fashion with their families. Which is the franchise, which is the football club? But ya know what? Who cares. I got no time for players that dont play for us. When Andy Cole and Dwight Yorke left I felt the same way as much as I loved them when they were here. Why are we still talking about players that have left? Man Utd dont live in the past thats why we’re so successful. Its all about the next season, the next trophy, the next team. I’d rather talk about Darren Fletcher getting his justice over that dumbass suspension in the Champions League semi by winning it next year.

  49. sean_m11 says:

    all the best ron

  50. five says:

Why is he not allowed to kiss their badge? Real Madrid are HIS team the team he’s dreamed off. Put yourself in his shoes if you grew up dreaming about being a Manchester United player and your parents tell you that the last thing they want to see before they die is you playing for Manchester United would you not be tempted by a move?

Was he a dick throughout the move? yes but he was wonderful for us and one of the best signings in English Football, we made a 68 million profit on him and cant really complain. Just forget about him and concentrate on our future

  51. Jack says:

    @javac
ribery said today that he hasnt said he’ll be leaving bayern to go to real so i dont think he will unless madrid come in with a ridocilious price

  52. robdevil says:

“I’d rather talk about Darren Fletcher getting his justice over that dumbass suspension in the Champions League semi by winning it next year.”

no truer words have been spoken.

all the best to cristiano, thanks for the memories and the goals… but

    UNITED > everything

  53. Nectarine says:

javac, calling Carrick average is just stupid. Why can’t more people see how important he is to United? He’s a great player.

  54. Ulster Red says:

id take him back no sweat when it fails at the virus

  55. King Eric says:

redseven – “mutv worth the subscription just to hear paddy crerand try and say paul scholes scores goals magic!”

Spot on mate, heard him other night trying to say it.

  56. paddy says:

good luck to him……looked a little embarrased to me.was it just me or was anyone wanting him to slip and break his ankles whilst kicking those balls into the crowd??

hope real’s experiment fails miserably, then sepp ‘ the human personality void’ blatter can eat shit and fucking die the cunt.

  57. stretford972 says:

i like the how he’s showin masses of respect towardss the club, manager, players and fans. He didn’t have to mention sir bobby either, but he did. I’ve said it before and will say it again, its ambition that made him achieve what he did at ot and its the same that made him leave us. Fair play, hope we beat you in the final in madrid next season. I for one will stand in the stretford end and applaud him when he comes back, but i’ll give tevez more shit than any other bitter on the pitch. Stupid twat thought he could take on saf in a popularity contest, the cunt

  58. vishnu1729 says:

good luck top ronaldo!!!!!!!!he has done us loads of good things apart frm his self centerdness and egos…we will always remember him!!!!
i thnk he willl probably return to manchester after 3 or years..bcoz his style of play is entirely ours..he dont know other way ………i thnk he will be an average player there……..any way good luck..
    viva manchester utd!!!!!!!!!viva roooooooooneyyyyyyyyy!!!!!!!!!

  59. SteRDLK says:

Cech is right, we will miss him. We missed Van Nistelrooy, Keane, Beckham, etc etc etc the list goes on. But if you look at the replacements, we dont replicate, we change, and for the better.

Ronaldo may be a bit if a prick, but at least he doesnt try to be something he isnt. He never tried to deny he wanted to play for Madrid, but he always tried to be respectful to the club and the fans, even after he has moved.

Same cant be said for Carlos “Lose the ball and chase it” Tevez. Workrate does not equate to quality. Just shut your mouth and sign for City so we can boo you as soon as possible.

  60. Ohhh_Ahhh says:

I cant wait for Tevez to come back to Old Trafford, the prick isnt gonna know what’s hit him….hopefully Vidic will get him ! Ronaldo on the other hand, im certain he’ll get a great reception from the fans and that’s something that will be really nice to see.

  61. Tonka Norris says:

The team will be stronger for his leaving. We were never a one-man team but we were mutating that way. 80 mil and our soul, Micheal Owen for an arsehole, pretty decent business so far.

  62. kapti14 says:

as the days go by i keep getting more and more convinced that luis antonio valencia is going to be a revelation.

lets face it he has many of ronaldos attributes apart from finishing. BUT that can be induced in his game.

as for other signings maybe some other young guys like obertan AND a big signing like AGUERO

  63. bobkoh says:

I knew this was going to happen so I’ve only got Rooney’s jersey hang up in my room. Ronaldo is history. Glory, glory ManUtd.

  64. devilz88 says:

Nope its not Liverpool’s year to win but maybe some other teams to try and win the premier league..Now the important thing is we need to rebuild our system of attacking…And this might take a little while for us to gel.. BUt i hope us to be in the final of the champions league..

  65. devilz88 says:

PS: PLS get David Silva from Valencia…Just get that spaniard…

  66. supatrice says:

Lets see what happens to him if he helps get Albidol

  67. supatrice says:

Lets see what happens to him if he helps get Albidol
sent off in the world cup. He won’t have the same support as he did at UTD. He already looks fat and he’s only been there for a day.

  68. Anon says:

why the fuck havent we bid 120 million pounds for Messi?! why why why?

  69. 7 theking 7 says:

Shows us who the biggest club in the world are when madrid fans where dancing around in their united shirts and one even with nani on the back !

  70. Gudjohnsen says:

@ Anon – Because we’re not playing the video game Football Manager…this is real life.

  71. Radio Deadon says:

Good luck to Ronny – I think he’ll need it with Madrid. Who’s gonna be doing his chasing back and covering for him, Don’t know who thier right back is but he’l be fuckin busy covering the holes Ronny will be leaving when he’s lost the ball.

We’ll actually be a better “team” without him. Valencia will do so much more leg work and help out the defence more than Ronaldo ever did and I think we will be even stronger than the last couple of seasons.

  72. enzo133 says:

Will you fuck off with discussing this preening former footballer turned media whore. I don’t give a fuck if he fails or succeeds, lives or dies. He is nothing to me. This is a blog about Manchester United not ronaldo.

  73. Ohhh_Ahhh says:

and this topic is about Ronaldo you tosser.
