Chilean press report Vidal is coming to United

VidalReports from Chile today claim that Arturo Vidal is a number one priority for Louis van Gaal and would cost United just over £30m.

La Tercera claims that Van Gaal is “obsessed” with with signing Vidal and has been since he was the manager of Bayern Munich. Van Gaal apparently wanted to sign him from Bayer Leverkusen but the midfielder went to Juventus instead.

El Mercurio report that United are prepared to break the bank to sign Vidal, but first want to know more about his knee injury. They report they he has been having injections in the area to allow him to play without pain, after returning too quickly from an operation in order to make it to the World Cup. El Mercurio say that United have been in touch with the Chilean team doctor to find out more details.

If United are keen to progress after assessing the knee situation, El Mercurio report that United will offer £35m plus Nani to sign Vidal.

The English press have today reported that United were in discussions with Vidal’s agent yesterday. The player shares an agent with Alexis Sanchez, Fernando Felicevich, who agreed terms for his move from Barcelona to Arsenal this week.

  1. Dan Young says:

i know alot of people see this being an unrealistic signing but i think it is very possible. the player would want to play for united, its all just getting juventus to sell, but i can see there being a win win situation for everyone involved.

firstly yaya toure wants to leave city, and psg is aparently an ‘attractive project’ to him (loves the $$$).

marco verratti is a squad rotation player at PSG and is a HUGE admirer of pirlo, and is seen as his natural successor.

    we want vidal.

pay £30 million for vidal, juve buy verratti and psg put in a £2.6 billion bid for toure .. everybody wins. except city, but who the fuck gives a shit about city!!

  2. WilliamAR says:

If we land Vidal and go for a quality centre back to work with our current centre backs I really think we will have a good chance of winning the league. I certainly see silverware of some description at united next season.

  3. slim says:

Looks like the Di Maria stories are heating up, to be honest not a huge fan of his. He’s a great talent and is the deal but just not keen on him. That said if LVG brought him over, he’d be a massive improvement over all our wingers. I’d rather we paid him 150k than the reported 135k for Ashley young. Man i can just imagine Di Maria on the right with Valencia behind him. That would be sick.
But the dream signing has got to be the Chilean, man, we get those two in and we’re set. Just imagine the platform Adnan, RVP and co will have having the quality of Vidal and Anders behind them . Come on Ed,

  4. slim says:

Totally loving the Yaya Toure mini meltdown, lol Shitty fans must be feeling really shitty right abut now.
Now his agent says he didn’t win any individual trophies because he’s black. hahahaha. The butt hurt is strong with this one

  5. The WitchKing of Angmar says:

I hope to God we do sign Vidal. If we do that then our midfield is set with Herrera just behind, Vidal in the box to box role and Mata in behind the striker. Those 3 in midfield I believe we can challenge for the title.

@slim, the Di Maria reports are actually heating up more than the Vidal one’s. But like you, I would rather we made Vidal the priority because any signing outside of the midfield and central defence would be a bonus. I we could sign Hummels in CB and Vidal in midfield then this would be the best transfer window we’ve had as far as my memory serves.

  6. EC7 says:

That is a red top headline if ever iv’e seen one. Not anywhere does it say Vidal is coming to United. Just that United want him. Would love it if he came but we have to be careful with that knee injury, after all we have been there before with our centre mids.

  7. slim says:

Funny hearing Merson and Redknapp tipping Argentina to beat Germany. sour grapes. and what for i have no idea.

  8. Red Deviled Yank says:

More sleight of hand from the genius. While everyone was looking at news about Kroos and Fabregas he signed Herrera. While everyone was still wowed by the Herrera signing he closed the Shaw deal. Now all the talk is about Vidal and DiMaria. Let me be the first to welcome you to United Kroos and Hummels! (if only…)

  9. Marq says:

£30m? Bite their hand off it! A player that can be argued as Juve’s most important, who is at the peak of his career. Scores goals and packs a crunching tackle, what more can you ask for?

The Di Maria rumors have persisted purely because the player is still in the WC. Whilst there may be some truth in it, we won’t know until next week earliest. Yes he is a definite improve over what we have, but I wouldn’t loose any sleep if he doesn’t sign. If you ask me, I say the indicator of whether Di Maria moves will be if Rodriguez goes to Real, or if Falcao is going to cost a bomb for Real.

Priority should still be Vidal, or Khedira as backup. Hummels would be great too.

  10. Marko Maric says:

I think that pur priority need to be Reus

  11. Ian Campbell says:

Vidal is without doubt the player we most need right now. And as of a couple hours ago we finally have our new manager. I’d expect to hear some more definite news on Vidal or others that he is looking at in the coming week. For that I am getting excited. Going to the Roma game here in Denver in two weeks, and my boss said he has some ‘meet and greet’ tickets thanks to the lovely Guinness.

  12. Tommy says:

    @Dan Young

I read Juventus wanted Paulino for £20million, maybe a Vidal replacement, also tuttosport an Italian paper listed the expected team for next year and listed Vidal with Guarin in brackets which indicated they are unsure whether he will still be their. £35 mill plus Nani sounds about right, get it done Ed, If United sign Vidal and get in a solid experienced defender, I think we will win the league at a canter next year.

  13. FBr David Lee says:

Fingers crossed we can get Vidal. What a turn around for Ed Woodward & the transfer team.

@Dan Young, lol 2.6 Billion pounds for Yaya Toure.

@Tommy, Vidal & Vermaelen/Vlaar/Hummels. Altho Hummels is every fan’s dream signing it is hard to see him forsake a year off UCL, unless of cos the name Aloyius Maria van gaal already a big gravita to lure him in. Vlaar had a good world cup & experienced in BPL, could be an affordable & short term replacement while waiting for Jones, Smalling & Keane to develop.

  14. FBr David Lee says:

you know the arabs (not all the them of cos) are racists & doesn’t hold black players in high esteem.

  15. Paschal Agwunobi says:

@Tommy, nah , 35 million plus Ashley young would be ideal. Or even Valencia plus 35mil. The only reason , I will let valencia stay is if he’s being used at RB position. Cos he offers nothing on the wings. At least nani is still a threat going forward. The Turin outfit know this, that’s why they are after nani and not A.young or your dear mediocre valencia.

  16. united till i die says:

As frustrated as I have been with Valencia lately he would be perfect on the right hand side of a 3-5-2 formation. He might not be a top winger at this point but he’s a workhorse who can and will run all day long fir the team. Valencia and Shaw are ideal wide players for a 3-5-3 or maybe even a 3-4-3 set up. As for Vidal at most I’d offer 35m + nani just to get him off the books.

  17. Chris says:

Vidal would be an absolutely fantastic singing and we have some bargaining power in the form of Nani and Evra who could be used in a cash plus players deal. Vidal would give us that energy and drive in midfield that we haven’t had since Keano was with us.

After last nights performance I would also go balls out for Schwiensteiger who I have always thought was a great player which last night only confirmed.

  18. Jackie Spain says:

@chris: Hasn’t Evra already gone to Juventus?

  19. Chris says:

@Jackie: Don’t think its been confirmed yet unless I’ve missed something?
