Chris Smalling Signs New Five Year Deal

Just a day after selling experienced defenders, Wes Brown and John O’Shea, to Sunderland, Manchester United have confirmed the contract extension of 21-year-old Chris Smalling.

Smalling signed a four year deal with United 18 months ago and joined the club last summer.

Following the impressive performances from his debut season, the club obviously believe he is worthy of an improved contract, as well as wanting to ward off any interest from elsewhere.

“This is a great club and, in the short time I have been here, I have already achieved more than I could have ever expected to,” Smalling told the official. “I am looking forward to a long and successful career at Manchester United.”

    Hearing some Manchester United fans talk, one would think its some Spiritual cult with highly adhered to,unforgivingly unbreachable ranks and classes; To try and put put it into perspective, i’ll break it into;
1.The, “I’ve been supporting United since i was 1 day old” Brigade
2.The, “You lot have never been to Old Trafford and dont know where it is, so STFU and go support your local team” Brigade
3.The, “ Dont use the word Man-U, you stupid,glory-hunting,armchair,…(fill in any other obscenities and degrading words)….you Glory Hunter!” Brigade.

*Of course its the last type I want to talk about mainly and thats why its in bold letters. However, I wouldnt mind having a go at the first two. Now, number one I frankly have no problem with, if they have been supporting United since they were 1 day old, before they knew how to talk, knew how to walk, kick a ball, let alone how to pronounce a name, and were in nappies for most of the day; then by all means they are entitled to brag about it and shout it from the top of skyscrapers and Mt. Everest. What irks me is when people make out they were born United fans, when infact deep down they know they began supporting it for some reason or other, for example family, a friend, a certain player they like and idolised(who probably wasnt homegrown), a certain season(i’ve heard a friend tell me he began supporting United after that 1999 campaign), I could go on and on but am sure you get the drift.
*In moving on to the second group and in relation to that first group, am going to ask questions which I already know the answers to and am sure you do(though in your stubborness you probably wont admit) but I just want to lay out a legitimate thought process for you.
    1. Manchester United has the biggest number of Fans in the World. Do you like that? Of course you do.
    2. At least 50% of these fans are from Asia and 85% of the total fans are not from England. Do you agree with that?
    3. These foreign fans generate the Bulk of the Merchandise sales, with another significant percentage coming from match-day attendances, deals with Sponsors,Kit-deals,e.t.c. Agree?
    4. All the big clubs, regardless of what you’ll hear, owe a considerables percentage of their success to their financial muscle, either self generated e.g Manchester United and Barcelona or from a large injection from a Sugar Daddy e.g Man City and Chelsea. Agree?
    5. Only this year, it was announced that Manchester United is about to become the first club to break the 100 million mark in merchandise sales alone. #FACT
    6. Manchester United has been named by Forbes as the most valuable Brand and Sporting Franchise in any sport, due to certain factors that include popularity, success, brand weight and FAN POWER.
    7. I’ve boldened “fan-power” to introduce the last question, and uncomfortable as it may sound, Do you agree that 70% of those foreign fans are what you’d call GLORYHUNTERS? Well you have to, I mean, lets see….,A glory-hunter is someone who began supporting a team because of its success, band-wagoner some would call him, right?(whether its indirectly or directly, whether its because of a certain season e.t.c the fact remains, that person began supporting it because of some form of its success). Most of these foreign fans began watching Manchester United in the premier league era, some Exceptional ones were watching it before that, some even when it was still in Division One, and will proudly tell you that with a smug look.
I hate to break it to you and believe it or not,the fact is that, successful teams will have more fans, teams that win trophies will have truckloads of fans. The glamorous pretty girl with the nice hair and huge butt will be more popular in school, thats just nature, the winners win everything, no one likes losers. Do you frankly think its coincidence that Manchester United,Barcelona and Real Madrid have more than 17million fans each on facebook alone, while a team like Aston Villa(which in some circles is credited with creating league football in 1888)has less than 100,000 fans? Okay, your stubborn self-righteous,clique-creating brain still wont accept it, yeah, lets kick out everyone who doesn’t support Manchester United because of George Best, lets try to find a solution shall we?
Better still, lets make sure an Edict is sent out to every foreign fan who began supporting Manchester United because of its success, telling them they’ve been officially disowned by the club, should stop watching its matches, should even stop buying its merchandise and if they have any self respect shouldn’t even call themselves United fans, let them support their local club,Manchester United doesn’t need them. Yes, lets see what that will do to the club finances, lets see how it will help the club grow and compete with these emerging Oil Barons.
Seriously, is it the fault of a Fan in a village in Malaysia that he cant charter a plane and be at Old Trafford every weekend to loyally watch every match? Those “armchair” fans contribute to that T.V money Manchester United hauls in every season. Frankly this whole thing kind of reminds me (for those who’ve read Harry Potter) of that Pure-Blood and Muggle-Born fracas in “The Deathly Hallows”,in short, Voldemort felt that those who hadn’t been from Pure-blood wizard families didn’t deserve to carry wands, we all know how that ended up. A better metaphor would be a family, on my facebook page http://www.facebook.com/crazyunitedfans on the welcome page I use the term family. A family has new members, people are born, people die. Whats the point of a family if anyone who wasn’t around to see Grandma just gets aborted. Seriously, on a forum I said Ronaldo was one of my favorite United players ever and someone said I didn’t see George Best play so I’d better shut the fuck up.
I for one am happy that United went on a trophy tour in Asia recently and even got Van der Sar, Ferdy and Evra to meet and greet the fans. It shows the club values all its worldwide fans.
Going back to the above questions, if you’re prepared to celebrate the fact that United is a big worldwide brand, has lots of fans, generates its own money and isn’t like City, and will happily shove those facts in the face of a rival team’s fan; then the next time you get beaten in an argument with a foreign fan, please swallow defeat and don’t resort to digging into your disgusting bag of insults and call them a Glory-hunter or an Arm-chair fan, just don’t. Because you’ll be worse than that- you’ll be a Hypocrite. A high class Hypocrite infact.

*On to the last one. Like I said before, am a rational United fan and I look at things objectively, not like a horse with blinders. And knowing this ROM Blog, this one is going to predictably cause a scuffle on here(if you can call it that), but as one of my friends likes to call them, people who are comfortable seating behind a keyboard, eating popcorn in their undies and making themselves out to be a Tough foul-mouthed Goliath when if you met them in real life they are meek, timid nothings- we call them KeyBoard Warriors. So,if it makes you feel a bit relevant,by all means type away your anger ,post your vile insults and threats, feel free.

Am just going to post a dialogue from an article on Bleacher Report(World Football: Ranking the Top 50 Most Influential Teams on the Planet
) and let you think about it.

Ricky Santillan:Can you please not refer to Manchester United as Man U. Fans dont take kindly to that and if you knew United history you would know not to. you stupid bloke.

Carlos Perez(this guy is a Real madrid fan):I don’t know Manchester United history. I don’t care to know it either. But I see a lot of epl fans refer to then that way.

David Brennon:I grew up in Manchester and have no problem saying Man U. The only people that still get upset about that are either newer bandwagon fans who want to try and show off what they THINK is rare knowledge about the club or older people who actually watched Edwards play. Most people in Sweden, Germany, and other countries say Man U and no one cares.
Unless you are Sir Alex, don’t get your panties in a twist. No one means it in an insulting way anymore. I am tired of newer fans trying to feel as though they are a “truer” fan by insulting others who use the term – even others that are born in Manchester and just pick up the term due to its common usage. It doesn’t mean what it use to mean so just move past it. Too much bar talk. The term is going to continue to be used, even by Manchester fans, as the origins of the term are forgotten. Its like Real Madrid fans who want to get rid of the Real because they think it makes the club sound fascist. United fans will be fine. P.S. I have heard Giggs, Beckham, and Saha all say Man U so the term is not meant to be derogatory. And as someone who has been to Old Trafford countless times I know as well as you do that MU’s chants aren’t short on derogatory terms either…
    Inbreds,
    What’s the score?
    Inbreds, inbreds,
    What’s the score?
You support a load of sh*t,
You support, a load of sh*t..
F*ck off to the Championship, f*ck off to the Championship,
F*ck off to the Championship, f*ck off to the Championship…
This isn’t exactly an environment to bring children to. I am not advocating insulting the deceased. I am just saying the term is not meant the way certain United fans make it out to be so there is no need to get so worked up about it. No one is impressed with the “rich knowledge” of United’s history that most people only know from trolling the internet as opposed to actually hearing the insults themselves.
NB:So there you have it, and to add to David Brennon’s arguments, if any of you category 3 fans had any self respect and consistency, you’d switch off the TV if you saw what is usually in the top corner of the screen e.g MAN-U 2-1 MAN CITY. If you usually leave the TV on, then again, I can accurately say, you are a hypocrite. Its like Osama Bin Laden repeatedly watching and enjoying a show were they continually blaspheme the name of Allah.
In concluding, this whole thing is a bit like how Black Rappers use the word n*****, refer to each other as n*****, will even let white people like Eminem use the word, but the moment a white person with no hip-hop connections uses it,all hell(and in some cases lawsuits) breaks loose.(and am only censoring it it to stop the admin from rejecting this post.) To quote Jay-Z on this one, the more you censor the word, the more power you give to it. Furthermore, coming from a country where there was a big genocide in 1993, I know that there’s a thin line between creating sects among Fans; and creating an “ FC UNITED OF MANCHESTER” new club.
P/S I’ve avidly been reading ROM for about 3 years now and while am not a frequent poster,I’ve noticed there’s (almost always) a select group of people who always see themselves as the creme-DE-la-creme of the blog and will go to extreme and sometimes laughable and ridiculous lengths to ensure some form of hierarchy and recognition is maintained on the blog at all costs, and will if you notice always insult anyone with a dissenting opinion from theirs. Its kind of pathetic and frankly it usually just amuses me. We all have our oddities and I guess it makes them feel important. But when such people began bashing our new signing David De Gea for calling the club Man-U, I just felt I had to write this. Besides, if you will jump to bash a new signing for that, then you would happily and ruthlessly abuse a Darron Gibson on Twitter and help him hasten his exit from the club.

Most of the posters who get on , the clique if you like, have been posting on here for years so have build up an internet friendship so to speak. It must be a huge clique to inlude myslef, Kings, Rai, Costas, Goat, Willie, Cedars, smartalex, denton, stateside, balaji, What, fitb, doghouse, and so on and so on.

RedHound – RoM doesn’t represent the be all and end all of Manchester United, its a blog, the best on the web IMO, but a blog no less. I don’t know what people expect from RoM, a strict code of conduct? Your gonna have disagreements with people in all walks of life and online is no different. Just deal with it as it comes – but keeping all that…. FRUSTRATION, pent up ain’t good for your health mate. RELAX ITS ONLY A BLOG. How can you let somebody else define you? A complete stranger at that?

  12. Balaji Sivaraman says:

Half of these idiots don’t know who they are, let alone what their opinions are and how they should present them. That is what I hate about all these fucking whiny cats.

Passe – disgusting is a bit hard init? I remember reading what other people said about De Gea, I didn’t agree with it, but I wasn’t offended either. I really hope you “voiced your opinion” at the time mate, and once doing so, I really hope you didn’t hold on to any resentment afterwards. This is my point, I don’t understand how people are getting so wound up in Pre-Season. You’d think United were on a losing streak – we’re not even playing ffs, the seasons yet to start.

Everybody needs to chill the fuck out. Its just a blog.

  15. timbo says:

In reference to the remarks about ‘Man U’, I wholeheartedly agree. I’ve been supporting United since the 60′s and have long heard the term used by supporters of the team, even by players themselves. Just because jerky fans from other clubs play on the term to insult United doesn’t suddenly give them ownership of it exclusively for derogatory purposes. If opposing fans start rhyming ‘Old Trafford’, ‘United’ or ‘Red Devils’ in further insults or songs, do we disown those terms as well or does it become ‘bad form’ to continue using them? Running away from it is cowardice, and getting all precious and PC about its use totally inane and immature – which is what the vast majority of the bandwagon kids who bang on about it are. ‘Man U’ has been in use by team supporters and players for far more years than the many of the drum beaters have been on this earth, so they just need to get over themselves and grow up. And no, I personally don’t use the term as I prefer ‘Man United’ or just simply ‘United’, but that’s my choice and one I’ve naturally used since I was a kid. But I have zero problem with other fans using the alternate term, especially as I grew up listening to old time fans of the team from the 40′s and 50′s using it. The only real insult is that a bunch of latter day heroes think that they can dictate terms to fans of United who’ve supported the team for decades and use a term which some suddenly see as unfashionable.

  16. smartalex says:

Well done Chris Smalling! Life at the top sure is great, hey? You deserve this new 5 year deal.
Keep on working hard, and taking your chances when they come. Put United first, always.
    Well done lad!

Thank you Sir Alex! The future for us all is looking tremendous. Thank you Sir!

RedScott – You are fooling nobody.

  18. dannysoya says:

redhound. i actually agree to some extent with ur post. However i wouldn’t be too bothered with what anyone else thought of me or of my support of Manchester United. Your goal is not to impress other united fans. Your aim is to support the club thru thick and thin. I really do not get this new idea of trying to prove that oh i am a true united fan. To me that is pure BS.

  19. WHAT ??? says:

Balaji (YES I checked the spelling!)

I’ve made the exact same point on here about the majority of Manchester United Supporters coming from OUTSIDE Europe, and the real role they play in supporting our GLORY.

But I made my point without having a heart attack!

What non-English Manchester United supporters MUST understand, is that Glory hunting is an age old allegation in English football. Back in the day when the world couldn’t give TWO MONKEYS about English football, supporting a team 100 miles away was traditionally seen as a sin by the English faithful who turned up to support their local team when the Continent was dominating football

Obviously football has changed, and England has changed, A LOT, so attitudes are still adjusting, but fellas from abroad getting all offended and hurt need to chill the F out and take the good with the bad. If Foreigners wanna support the beautiful game as its played in the Top English Division they gotta realise it comes along with a lot of unsavoury baggage, and being called a glory hunter online ISN’T “unsavoury baggage” IMO. Storm in a Tea Cup bruv – so ranting like this fella is, whats he gonna do? Start a Boxer Rebellion online? Him and others like him need to deal with it and not take non-offensive musings online so flipping personally.

Anyway the future is bright, we have some outstanding young players at the club, they’re gradually gaining experience. the likes of pogba, morrison will get slotted in slowly through carling cup games, it really is exciting times.glad smalling signed a new deal, fantastic young centre half, has pretty much everything you require to be a great defender. pace, power, athleticsm, reads the game well, very good in the air and the bonus is he is versatile, can play right back too.

About Smalling, i dont know how Fergie managed it but he just managed to get the future England center-back pairing playing for us,and both class. If you look at Puyola and Pique, they play together for Barca and Spain and that just increases the quality of how they work together. Something different i’ve noticed about them(especially in the Euro-U21) is how foward minded they are, Jones actually pulled off some decent dribbles and Giggs-like Runs.

  34. mikekelly12 says:

Redhound – Must admit, I got bored half way through…particularly when you started talking about words you had “Bolded” which weren’t even bold. Anyway I got the gist and agree with some aspects, however, by typing this essay, it suggests you have similar issues to those that you talk about. I’m a United fan, have been for many many years and personally I couldn’t give two shits who supports the team or their reasons why. I love United and have my own reasons for this and I am more than happy and comfortable with this. As long as my enjoyment of watching and supporting United isn’t hampered by anyone I couldn’t care less. So chill out, who gives a fuck what other people think.

  38. Balaji Sivaraman says:

@slim, The List is an absolute good. The list is life.

As for Smalling, I said this during the U-21 Championship, all the players who wear the red of United were miles ahead in terms of class than the rest of that good-for-nothing football team. Smalling was on top of that list. He just looked so much more developed for a U-21 player than nearly everyone else on that team. He has great composure on the ball, a great ability to read the game and can run with the ball to kick off the attack from the back. All of which demonstrates that he is the next Rio Ferdinand.

It is good that he has been rewarded with a new deal worth the abilities that he has demonstrated. I am guessing Chicharito will also be tied up to a similar new deal to thwart the interest from the virus most of all. In fact, I heard that talks were already on-going with the golden boy. So, it is just a matter of time both our main buys from last season are tied up for good.

  46. The Berb Is The Word says:

    @Redhound

Getting tired of this whole “Black rappers use the word n**** so why the fuss when white people do it?”. First of all, just because rappers and a section of African American society use the word with gay abandon doesn’t mean that all people of African decent agree with it’s use. Secondly, it’s about context; a black person is highly unlikely to be using the word as a racist and derogatory term whereas there’s no real way of discerning whether somebody from outside the “race” is. Thirldly, I am yet to hear Eminem use the n-word (apart from an unreleased and much criticized track from his early days)… But this isn’t really the place for this type of debate.

  59. wayne says:

@Zibbie you promised it wouldn’t overflow onto other threads, seem to have a hard on for all the lads been posting on here for years.i’m not in a cilque and have had my run ins with almost everyone.over time you develop a bond with other posters who you share the same ideas, etc with.
its not a question of some thinking they run the place, its all about bonding with other posters against trolls and cunts who come on here to get decent reds like you to make ass’s of themsevles.
the ‘fans’ who are behind you are laughing behind your back mate, you’re attacking the wrong people, you should go back and read some of the threads to realise how crazy and stupid you sound, you should also learn to read between the lines and realise who the wum and trolls are.
enough already zibbie, you’re becoming a broken record mate and its getting tiresome.

  60. Zibbie says:

smaralex once again hits out at someone for his own short comings. You need to reconsider your form here lad. Always nipping at people with your smartass self?

  61. Zibbie says:

wayne they overflowed it stay the fuck out of this.

  62. Ash says:

    @Zibbie
Chill mate. You are a true red and you don’t need to prove it to anyone.
Earlier I also felt that this clique thing is all untrue but Even I now feel there are some posters who just interfere in others business.Rai’s comment about zibbie was unnecessary .
But guys we all are reds and should be UNITED.

  63. mikekelly12 says:

Sorry to interupt this domestic that appears to be going on in here but I have a question, which is completely off topic but would appreciate it if someone could answer it for me.
City have just sold the naming rights for Wastelands to Ethiad? I was under the impression that the “Council House” was just that and belonged to the City of Manchester. If that is the case, how do City have the right to sell it? Shouldn’nt this decision (and the money) go to the local govermnent? Or did City buy the stadium a while back and I just missed it?

  64. Zibbie says:

@wayne enough already zibbie, you’re becoming a broken record mate and its getting tiresome

these fucking guys are the broken record, I stayed on the one thread Rai, smartass and the kings have not.

  65. Zibbie says:

I will hire people to come here and attack these guys, for I have a life and must work.

  66. Zibbie says:

Thanks ash. People need to stand up or be walked on.

  67. Zibbie says:

See now I’m off to work and they will all post hate filled shit when I’m gone.
    Glory Glory Man Utd
GO ROONEY MAN UTD BEST PLAYER!!!!!

  68. mikekelly12 says:

This blog is becoming farcical. It seems that everytime I come on here there are people bitching and moaning at each other. How old are you kids? Grow the fuck up. If you have got something serious to be at each others throats about, exchange numbers and give each other a call. Leave these threads free for people who want to discuss football!!

p.s. Anyone got an answer to my question earlier?

    smartalex says:

RedScottX, look in the mirror. Can you see sachu?

You are the one jumping on people’s dicks.

Stop being a cunt. Don’t address King Eric if you can’t be respectful.

Be nice, don’t overstep your standing, and earn the friendship you seek.

See you are again and again proving you are a arrogant person.Who are you to tell redscottX or any other person when he has not spoken to you.
It was an issue between King eric and redscottx but you had to interfer as you have some kind of mental imbalance.
Now isnt it proving that you guys are forming a group and targeting other guy.Grow up boy.
I will say again this blog is better without you.You are just here to fight.

  70. wayne says:

@Zibbie threatening me has a bad effect on my overall well being so you go fuck yourself and before your attack at 14.40 don’t see any reference to you at all,so why you getting involved?,RedScotX doesn’t exsist he’s a poster using RedScots name with a X on the end and he’s here just to wind people like you up

  71. Zibbie says:

mikekelly12 says: rAI, kING eRIC AND kING ARE THE CANCER HERE. FOR 2 DAYS ON SCOTTS BLOG THEY WENT OFF ON WHY THEY WOULD NOT VOTE FOR HIM. NUFF SAID THEY ARE CUNTING CUNTS, WHO LIKE GETTING FUCKED BY DONKEYS!!!!!!

  72. trafalgarlaw says:

i got the feeling that fergie is buying these sorts of fast paced good ball control type of players for building a team that is to play a new brand of football.fergie is aiming for Barca and i think this new team is going to adopt a similar style of attack play.the first 30 mins of last seasons CL finals where we controlled the start was one of the best football iv seen from united.we played so well then our midfield collapsed cause we couldn’t distribute the ball all around they saw the cracks gained confidence and the rest is history.fergie is most likely to go for nasri than sneidjer and if theres spare change go for moussa sissoko for defensive midfield.

  73. Zibbie says:

WAYNE IF YOU WANT TO JOIN THE DONKEY CUNT BERGADE FEEL FREE.

  74. Balaji Sivaraman says:

@mikekelly, I’m not in Manchester, so I can’t be of much help, but another poster named Paul Parker posted this on another thread which I thought was pretty spot on regarding the whole messed up scenario.

“Thats not on – and if the Council have a legal leg to stand on, things are so tough im sure this won’t be the end of that story. Can’t see how City can get away with it, unless they can somehow prove their plans for the money will benefit the whole City.”

@wayne, Leave it be mate. There is no point in trying to be reasonable. You are just bringing your own level down. Let us just get on with things and continue discussing football. If Scott is free and decides to do something about it, let him do it, otherwise let us carry on as if nothing has changed on ROM.

  75. Zibbie says:

IF 14:40 HIT TO CLOSE TO HOME? THEN MAYBE YOU ARE ONE?

  76. Zibbie says:

    I’M OUT MUST MAKE MONEY.

  77. Costas says:

    @mikekelly12

I wish I had an answer for you mate. Last time I checked, the ground didn’t belong to Shity. So I also have to wonder what right they had to rename it.

  78. rohan19 says:

bloody hell this is one thread for bitches…
redhound.: great post mate.. im category 2.. and ‘ve been accepted on RoM whenever i’ve posted..
i have nothing against anyone here.. just feel it was a better place to be before the row over who protects rooney’s dick started…
    give it a rest people

  79. Ash says:

    mikekelly12
Completely agree with you mate. This blog is not the same anymore. We are here to support our club manchester united and not to fight like babies.
In past even Scot the red used to share his opinion but now even he does not come as he knows there is no one here to talk about football. This is frustrating now.
Anyways My prediction for next season
    1.Manchester united
2.Manchester city(Hate to say this but they will be stronger)
    3.Chelsea
    4.Liverpool
I feel goons will miss out.If they again finish in top 4 then wenger is for sure the second best manager after Our sir alex.King kenny will do everything to finish in top 4.

  80. Costas says:

From the stadium’s wikipedia page (take it for what it’s worth) :

The stadium is owned by Manchester City Council and leased by the football club. The 2008 takeover made the football club the wealthiest in the world, prompting suggestions that the club could consider buying the stadium outright.

A Manchester City Council press release in September 2010 stated that a decision on the “financial terms” of the lease of the stadium would be “amended” by January 2011. The amendment was a renegotiation of the lease on the stadium, with Manchester City paying Manchester City Council a flat base rate of £3 million a year rather than the council taking half of the revenue of ticket sales over 35,000. This previous system earned the council approximately £2 million a year, whereas the new, higher £3 million single payment agreement signals the club are looking to expand the stadium. The agreement is linked to Manchester City’s willingness to “considering potential development as part of a contribution to the regeneration of east Manchester”.

  81. rohan19 says:

@ash, Sachu, Zibbie : if you have so much trouble accepting the presence of a clique then why not form one of your own?? whats the point of endless bickering? then both the clique’s can attack each other and the rest can talk sense…

naming your clique and standing up for them even though your response is unnecessary is the only rule to be followed..
    let the circus begin

  82. wayne says:

@Zibbie nothing to to with joining anything mate, just thinking you’re making a cunt of yourself, anyway i’m done with you we’ll agree to ignore each other.

  83. King Eric says:

Lads. I urge you all to ignore this cunt Zibbie. He is a fucking attention seeking bile spitting bastard who dragged me into an argument yesterday despite me not posting on that thread for hours and certainly not addressing him. He stinks the place out. Fuck off back to the trailer park and your crystal meth.

  84. Heywood is Red says:

Oh god here we go again.
Redhound- don’t know if you just has summat to say, but at least u got it off ur chest in a controlled manner so well done. Don’t agree with all you said, but thats your opinion so fair do’s.
I wouldn’t say i’m a better red, or more true red, but i have learnt the history of united, but through books as a child. This in no way makes me better supporter. This also isn’t a stick to beat me with because i have taken the time to learn. Man U to me isn’t offensive, however i won’t use it on forums. I’d say i don’t remember eminem using that particular word but thats neither hear nor there. But you had an opinion, you shared n thats what a open forum is about.
Zibbie, without getting into anargument, i’m just requesting you please don’t start again. Get back to supporting united instead of holding resentment mate. Oh god here we go again.

  85. WHAT ??? says:

    Wow. This thread went AWOL.

Enjoy your weekend fellas (Emphasis on ENJOY)

    _________

@ The Berb Is The Word – well everybody else is talking shit so you may as well voice your non-football related opinion. Agreed 100% Bruv, funniest thing is this fella with the page long rant thinks he’s speaking on behalf of the non-English supporters. Cos they’re all in ASIA aren’t they? What a Fucking Door Knob.

@ Zibbie, hadn’t even noticed a dispute between you and whoever, but its not a clique tho mate, its just a disagreement between you and whoever. The only clique is in your head buddy!!! No insult either, but come a clique? Your sounding like you wanna play a game and the other kids won’t let you. If there are regulars on here, who says they “run” anything? Even if they wanted to, is there anything to “run” ? Its a BLOG FFS.

Im only addressing you because you’ve got 5-6 rants on one page, and i’d say the same thing to anybody else filling up the blog with “random shit”. So be the bigger man, just let it go already, and let whoever look like mugs ranting at you. Didn’t even know there was a dispute till I read your rants here, so at the mo your the only one sounding like a mug mate. Who gives a fuck about some argument between you and whoever? We don’t log on to RoM for this shit, so drop it and keep it United related.

  86. King Eric says:

MikeKelly – Hhmm. Interesting one mate. Like you say how can they sell the rights when the council own the ground? Strange one that. Sell out souless club.

  87. RedScottX says:

    @ Ash,
still think the Rentboiz are our main rivals next season..They just signed a new TNSSO2,and they would always wanna put up some form of resistance..
Well for Citeh, they are just in the top four to male up the numbers,i see them screwing up as the season progresses..
    Arsenal,fingers crossed.
    Liverpool,gonna get stronger..

  88. WHAT ??? says:

Heywood is Red – well said mate, and considering that everybody else is banging on about non-United related bollocks – I may as well add that he DID did say it (Eminem) quite a few times in fact, but on earlier music that he recorded before Dr Dre took him out of his Trailer Park existence and made him a “somebody”. It got leaked years ago, and he came up with some bullshit excuse to explain it, but he said it and it pissed alot of people off. Our friend RedHound got the facts twisted on that point but there was some truth to it.

    Enjoy your weekend mate.

  89. WHAT ??? says:

Only joking about the trailer park^^ Marshall Mathers the Third is actually middle class. Go figure.

  90. WHAT ??? says:

Scott could you delete this ENTIRE THREAD PLEASE and start again? Thank You!

  91. King Eric says:

Wooaah. I am fucking sorry but why the fuck are Kings, Rai and I being fucking scapegoated and being accused of bringing this blog into disrepute? We have been on here for time and save for the odd disagreement have always been civil and respectful to other posters. It is only since the European Cup Final and perhaps the odd tit for tat prior to this that some nasty fucking cunts turned up on this blog. Vis a vie RedMegleeker, Captaincunt9, RedScottX and now this fucking mad american with the sole intention of winding us up. Incase its escaped somes attention I rarely fucking post now and nor do Kings and Rai yet some suggest we live on here. Its gone far enough now in my opinion.

  92. rohan19 says:

if that was possible we’d want half the threads deleted….
    its better to ignore shite…

  93. theboogeyman says:

King Eric, mikekelly- Hi guys. I think City could sell the rights to their stadium name as long as it’s for a City game. It’s still the City of Manchester Stadium as far as the council is concerned, but for any City game it’s the Etihad whatever.

  94. King Eric says:

RedScottx or whoever you are. I can assure you that over rated nomark Viyash Boash (as everyone in the media like to call him ) is NOT a special one. He will be found out big time next season.

  95. slim says:

sheesh WTF is going on here, there’s “gatekeepers”, “wannabe gangsters” chuckled at that one, the lot. People get on each others nerves i get it, but its almost becoming ridiculous. why the fuck are we on each others throat. There isn’t even anything remotely controversial to argue about, FFS even A.young has been accepted into the fold. Dont me to sound patronizing to all involved but chill out guys and lets do what we do when we come on here. All things United, anything else is a sideshow

  96. rohan19 says:

@king eric : if you’re referring to what i posted it wasn’t intended in that manner… think it came out wrong..
my point was to tell zibbie et al to shut their trap and man up..

  97. rohan19 says:

@ slim: agree with you.. i think a collective effort is necessary to drive these shit posters away..

  98. Ash says:

    @Rohan19
When Did I bicker or moan about clique.I am not here to form a group.I am just here to speak about Manchester united.I just said It is now frustrating that always we see someone fighting with other. Can’t understand Why you dragged me into this.
Think before what you write.Do not drag a person’s name without any reason.

  99. Mikekelly12 says:

Costas, Balaji, King Eric , Ash Cheers boys. Deffo something not right. It’s like the tenants in my house selling off my garden and keeping the cash?!

  100. MG says:

Well hate the Glazers fine – but they never ever sold OT out – and it’s 6 years into their governance.

Etihad stadium – get ready for the turbulence – United are coming 11/12

  101. rohan19 says:

if thats the case then im sorry i mentioned your name.. just read your post. misconception. my bad

  102. slim says:

cliques? tut tut. utter nonsense. Funny thing though is that it certainly now does feel like there are some here holding grudges and the likes. I stayed away from FB for exactly this sort of shit

  103. rohan19 says:

i think hate the glazers campaign is bound to die down soon… what with the recent transfer dealings and payin off the PIK’s
also i think we’re pampered fans.. ought to be happy with what we have

  104. Ash says:

    @Rohan19
No problem mate.Happens in this kind of confusion. :D
Question for you ROM guys.Which united youngster you think next season will have his breakthrough season?

  105. rohan19 says:

Sir Bobby Charlton has been speaking to Sky Sports News about Samir Nasri. “I can’t talk about anything,” says the Reds legend. “He’s a nice player, a good player but I’ll leave all that, the negotiations, to the powers that be here and, if he’s a good player and wants to come and play for us, he’ll have to realise there is something you have to remember here. That’s the history of the club. I think if he knows Manchester United are coming for him, he won’t worry about anything else.”

this is just to start off some footy talk

  106. slim says:

    @rohan19

i love this blog simply because its community have no place for wind ups, its used to be the way we interacted with each other. Trolls simply couldn’t get a word in and when they did they were largely ignored, except for the SAS type trolls who are good at what they do and spoiling for a fight. In cases like that the guardians – yeah, call them a clique if you want, come out to defend the club ferociously. And why not its our Club , its our blog.
The last thing anyone who likes to come on here is give the muppets ammunition. Chill out boys, its all United lets keep it that way

  107. Balaji Sivaraman says:

@Ash, Obvious candidate would be Danny Welbeck and Tom Cleverley. Tunni is already on loan. Macheda will follow suit. Pogba and Morrison may get their chances in the Carling Cup but they still need time on loan to really get a taste of first-team football. So, them two guys will get to see a lot of action I presume. They’ve been waiting in the wings long enough and this is their time to step up and prove what they’re made of.

@King Eric, For what it is worth, the regulars on here are missing you guys and Rai. Just because somebody calls you bad names doesn’t mean they’re right. This place is what it is because of people like us discussing footballing matters along with the odd banter here and there to keep things fun. If some people want to disrupt that harmony by posting nonsense, it is better to ignore them. They don’t have anything else to do. So, with pre-season starting, let us all just get back to wasting our time on discussing useless formations and tactics after which Sir Alex will decide to drop Berbatov and leave us with egg on our faces.

  108. Costas says:

Don’t know how all this begun, but I’ll just say that King Eric, Kings and Rai aren’t ruining any blog. Lets not get carried aay with our personal grudges.

    @MG

Hi mate. Well it wouldn’t have been good business for the Glazers to sell it anyway. With the high ticket prices and anything…

    @Mikekelly12

Something like that mate. It’s not unlike Shity to get special treatment.

  109. DUMI says:

hi Guys. Just heard Man SH*TTY’s ground (the wastelands) has been renamed to ETIHAD…. but Etihad means ‘UNITED’ in arabic…

hahaha. it sucks to be Sh*tty..!!
    ALWAYS the wannabe’s

  110. rohan19 says:

@ash : my pick would be DdG… he’s a youngster and it technically is his breakthrough season

  111. King Eric says:

Balaji and Costas – Cheers lads. Thanks alot.

rohan – No mate. It wasnt aimed at you at all.

  112. rohan19 says:

@slim : agree with you mate.. the only good thing is. the good posters outnumber the trolls by quite a lot..
zibbie was quite decent before.. donno what got into him.. is everyone sure this is not imposter?

  113. smartalex says:

DUMI – That is really funny! They’re being paid by their owners to call themselves ‘United’!

Only at city, laughing stock of the world.

  114. smartalex says:

“Oh wad some power the giftie gie us To see oursel’s as others see us!”

  115. rohan19 says:

city have no existence without us.. the united shadow looms large over their petty arse and it always will

  116. rohan19 says:

@king eric : glad to sort that out.. you’re a great guy.. love to read your input.

  117. ididnotzeeit says:

I see the ROM soap opera’s back in full swing…

    Sigh

Apparently Off-Topic, but, good fucking on ya Smalling. Chuffed to bits at season number 1. If it weren’t for a certain little vegetable you’d have easily been our young player of the year.

Here’s to the two lads quelling any thoughts of a sopmore slump and to our new signings having even better 1st seasons. Not bloody likely but a man can dream.

  118. Phil Jones' Locker says:

Dont know if this was noticed before…

I for one am loving City’s new hole in the ground name “The Etihad Stadium” which translates to…..

“The United Stadium”!!!! even more proof that Manchester is red when the smaller team in Manchester calls their stadium in honor of the REDS!!!!

  119. gerkeo says:

back to the topic of football, Just reading essien popped his cruciate on first day of training. Big setback for chelsea before season begins.

  120. Vishal S says:

United have offered a pro contract to Charni Ekangamene, a Belgian player!
Never heard of him!!. Any idea about him guys?

  121. Costas says:

Hmm, I wonder if this will force Chelsea to go after Modric.

  122. ididnotzeeit says:

    @ gerkeo

What a fall from grace that guy’s made. It drove me nuts that he was even at Chelsea (not to mention the fact we apparently were bidding at the same time for him.) Top, top footballer in his day. Never forget that 40 yard SCREAMER he smashed in a few years back (against either Wigan or maybe it was Arsenal, leaning towards Wigan.) Loved his style, pure power and seemed to have a head on his shoulders. Really, the only rent boy I’d have ever liked to see in a United kit. How those feelings have changed! Feel bad for the guy with his injuries to a point but then again, his half decade spent at the Garden Shed have all but tainted my sympathy.

  123. berbatunday says:

Essien out again, Chelsea already having there excuse for next season ready

  124. smartalex says:

There are many truly excellent commenters that we on RoM enjoy.

Scott the Red cannot be thanked enough for this home he has crafted.
Thank him anyway, by following the advertisers links. They just want to show you their wares.

Also deserving of recognition are those who respect and love Manchester United.

I recognise King Eric, Kings and Rai as deserving of my total respect.

Three men who I know to be true.

The horrendous attacks that Zibbie is launching in RoM are the works of a madman.
He could be three men, all wrapped in one.

  125. MG says:

    Costas

Yeah let’s sell OT and rename it:

Kebab Trafford – a billion pounds should do the trick ;)

Oh and free kebabs for all forever – of course one pizza outlet just for my good friend wilierednut – and one lebanese for Cedars ;)

See I can be flexible lol

  126. RedScottX says:

    @ King Eric,
i think TNSSO2 has alot of big time ego-laden guys to deal with in that team, and i wont be suprised if Tiny Tears tells him to STFU about tactics..
Just heard about Essien’s cruciate injury, that aint good news for him..
Am sorry i snapped earlier, but we should always respect other people’s opinions about issues because we all see,but view differently..
    King Eric,My bad!

  127. FletchTHEMAN says:

Good on ya Chris. Loving everything about Chris Smalling at the moment. Composure,
quiet confidence, excellent outtings when he gets his chances, quality for the U21s, young!
Hope he continues to progress and hope he spends his money on sensible things and building a life as opposed to tossing it down a bar stool. Think he will continue to make sensible dare I say inspiring decisions, and that is all the better for us. Good on ya lad. Chris Smalling is a red!

  128. MG says:

    Their

Sir Bobby Charlton has said United will never sell the rights to OT

On that note tra la la for now Reds

  129. Rai says:

Afternoon all. Smalling made a right mug out of me. I questioned the signing…..what a fool I was.

  130. bayobuya says:

Anyone involved in football especially as fans need to know you got to have a thick skin. Infact you dont have to know it coz you just develop it coz week in week out someone calls you cunt, whore, b****ch, the list coz on coz when we go to football matches we drink and swear ‘fact’ and we like it. No need to take anything anyone says to seriously just swear under your breath and move on or if its a blog write back and swear you ought’ a feel better.
Lets not be forget that Red Scott meant for us to celebrate the new contract for our young England international. It was the most logical thing to offer the youngster a new contract esp after signing PJ but again the press (journos0 dont dissappoint in finding a negative angle.

    http://www.fanhouse.co.uk/2011/07/08/chris-smallings-contract-throws-down-gauntlet-to-ferdinand-and/

For fucksake how could we leave a bright young prospect like Smalling without binding him down to a long term contract we ain’t Gooners (Nasri case).

    Best manager ever!!!!

  131. FletchTHEMAN says:

Read the posts about a B-team, I don’t think you can really call Sunderland our B-team.
B-teams are to develop players, not send them down to. Danny at Sunderland was what we should be talking about, but Sunderland are more of a afterthought. Where do I look for talent? I look at places that have developed talent in the past. Fulham gave us several top lads, including Smalling and Edwin in recent years. Back in the 90s we always had deals in place with teams in the Dutch league to develop players, this is more like a proper B team for me. It is an important distinction and seems to be coming back. There was a deal last year with FC Twenty and talk this year of a deal with Bursaspoor. There is also an academy-like program being developed in South America. These are what we need to respect as a proper B team. For me, I just can’t get over the Munich songs of the Sunderland section. Hope they win because I always support former United players, but won’t be calling them my B-team.

  132. FletchTHEMAN says:

@Rai, Good on ya lad. I never understand why honest ROMsters bother to slag our signings. The club is far bigger than that. We need to look at these youngsters as part of a plan that will see glory for United. As for the individual youngster, well he might see glory or might not. Chris is on the trajectory to glory. We should wish the same on all our youngsters and back them while they are with us. Stay positive! Stay Red!

  133. bayobuya says:

@Rai … you admit!!! bet thez many of u who just wont admit anywhere in SAF we shoud trust havent ruled out there might be a Hernandez type CM out there that SAF will spring on us in the coming few days.

  134. FletchTHEMAN says:

@MG, Good news about the OT, but probably just words. It will be a topic as long as there are owners, debt and a need for profits. I do agree with Sir Bobby that the name is safe for now. But nothing in business is sacred. We, and every team with money seeking owners are just one deal away from being sold up a river.

You still missing Nancy, FletchTHEMAN? Get over her already!

  136. ididnotzeeit says:

    @ bayobuya

“haven’t ruled out there might be a Hernendez type CM out there…”

I’d settle for a Smalling type CM out there but I love the optimism! Sir Alex would for ever go down as the David Copperfield of footy if he’s to pull yet another rabbit out of his hat.

More magic in that hat than Keanos I’d say :)

  137. Red Neville says:

Something’s been gnawing at me about the “Etihad” sponsor name right from the start, as if there is some hidden, cryptic, subliminal message to it. I’ve realized what it is:

    The Etihad Stadium

    The Edihat Stadium

    The Idihat Stadium

    The Idihot Stadium

    The Idiot Stadium

    The Idiot’s Stadium

You see? it’s the Idiot’s stadium.

^^ off a forum dont expect too much

  142. wayne says:

I think Nasri is odds on to join utd, think he’ll be our final signing of the summer

  143. Heywood is Red says:

    @WHAT?
Fair enough mate, haven’t heard any of his old old stuff, so I stand corrected by you and Redhound. Not the first time i’ve been wrong as my wife would attest to.
Back on topic eventually, glad we’ve extended his contract. Think if he can keep improving, he’ll be quality future star. Happy wi way squads shaping up, upset to see the old guard leaving obviously.
But am i the only person who wouldn’t be bothered if we didn’t sign Nasri or Modric? I don’t remember seeing many games last year where i thought they were united quality. Where they ran the game. I’d prefer Anderson or Carrick to flicker into life and show why we bought em. But if we got neither Modric or Nasri, wouldn’t be devastated

  144. scan74 says:

Great news been top notch since he joined up cracking player

  145. parryheid says:

That’s Wenger, now Sir Bobby mentioning Nasri two people you wouldn’t expect I think it’s a stick on certainty he’s ours.

  146. King Eric says:

Heywood is Red – No mate you most certainly are not the only one who doesnt give a flying fuck if we get Nasri or Modric. I wont lose any sleep over it. I just CANNOT see either in a United shirt. You have Modric on skysports 24/7 poncing about in his denim shorts like billy big balls.

  147. Zelh says:

talkshite saying we have put in 12m + 2 payers for Modric

  148. Mickjk says:

Hahaha the united stadium. Well done I like that dasilvatwins. What’s all this arguing over what fan is a better supporter of who because of what now? Bunch of fanboy twats. Whether a supporter is from Manchester or Timbuktu shouldn’t really matter. Whether they refer to thier team as man u or not? Who gives a flying fuck? All that matters is the passion for the club. Simple as that fuck bags!!!

  149. The Berb Is The Word says:

I think the lack of United-related action is driving us all nuts, hence the politics and in-fighting… What we need is somebody to focus all that pent-up aggression on… Where’s Meagan Fox, Hayley McQueen, Rihanna and that mud pit when you need them huh? Lol!

  150. DeanStrauss says:

    ^No shit,
    Community shield is what….August 7?

  151. Balaji Sivaraman says:

@King Eric, Apparently not. As I said, I’ve never seen a more classless football club than that bunch. Literally Disgusting. In fact, I am ashamed that our great club share a city with that lot. We should force them to move out and have their base at Abu Dhabi sucking the cocks of those wealthy Arabs.

You know they literally are selling their souls. Their only aim is to accumulate as much money as possible. Then use that money to get together as much twats as possible. Then brag about being massive and getting closer to United. When, in fact, they couldn’t be more far away from us. We are at opposite poles of the Earth.

Fuck Them for all I care. Like I’ve said many times, anytime they’re mentioned, I go on a rant and eventually end up regretting wasting my time on something with no class, shame, honor, attitude etc. at all.

  152. The Berb Is The Word says:

Hopefully we’ll be able to catch pre-season tour on the t’internet for free! :D

  153. King Eric says:

Balaji – Great post mate. Spot on. They are a hideous fucking club with delusions of grandeur. I hate them with a fucking passion. All mouth, no trousers.

  154. YipYapStam says:

@ Redhound and redscott:- Thanks for acknowledging that some people on here think they are the aristocracy on this website. There is a particular group of about 6-7 individuals (if they really are individuals) who seem to never consider anything written that might be a little thought inducing about MUFC. Unless you worship Alex Ferguson, they tell you to ‘die’ or ‘get run over’ which is amusing but it kind of makes people question why do they need to jump on comments by others. One word, insecurity, and this stems from the fact that this website means more to them than anything else, to the point that they will cajole, insult and attempt to ridicule people until they feel that they have over-powered their opinion, like some sort of totalitarian dictatorship. I am happy to see that people like me, who do not comment often can see these people for what they are, and it is incredibly refreshing to see other people who do not comment frequently actually posting meaningful comments.

Look at King Eric, his response to redhounds comment was “i will read your comment when i get a spare 3 days” In other words, he feels your opinion is worthless, he goes on to ridicule your post in his next comments. This is because you are not a regular on here (like me). The regular people adhere to quantity over quality comments and I am happy REDHOUND et al introduced some quality for once because reading king, smart alex, king eric etc is incredibly mundane and very much like the same person typing different comments.

I see MCFC have re-named their stadium… who cares? Etihad means union, I’m sure they do not care if we say it means united, they are pocketing up to 300million over 10 years from it, perhaps the glazers can do something to reduce our debt. free speech people, we don;t have to hate other teams to be MUFC fans and we don;t have to disrespect each other to be well thought of. Any comments i have made before that are crude are in response to the inane drivel posted by the drones. But, free speech is something afforded to the drones, and people alike.

  155. YipYapStam says:

@ Bilaji et al:- why keep speaking about MCFC? Move on, are you obsessed or what?!?! The Glazers own United, Arabs own city, nobody has moral high ground there. Just think about the crap you spout and how bitter you sound. Concentrate on MUFC and stop trying to make yourselves feel better by disrespecting other teams. MCFC and MUFC go way back together and many fans are friends with fans of the other team. It is the people from outside manchester that take the banter too far because if you tried that in manchester, you’d get a crack in the mouth.

  156. Heywood is Red says:

Or just read the article. Don’t know why this is becoming such an issue. Freedom of speech means at times people will be offended unfortunately

Only here I’m considered to be part of the Templars (according to the parallel I’ve drawn) whereas in the game I am against them.

I understand that this is entirely off-topic but I just couldn’t resist myself from posting it.

  167. Besty07 says:

So have u wished death Sir Alex?

  168. Cyril Sneer says:

All this ‘clique’ bullshit is getting very confusing. So are a bunch of people in a ‘clique’ because they talk to each other? And what about the guy who has several user names that all agree with each other? Does that make him a ‘one-man clique’? Yeah, don’t even think about stealing that phrase, I have it trademarked.

I could be Cyril Sneer, the one-man clique. In your faces you mean girls.

  169. Dave Malaysia says:

There is a group of guys who have been posting in here for a long time.

Then the other group , some 2 yrs or less ,been posting or just commenting, got different reactions but generally just get on with it,no problems.

Then the large majority ,that I use to belong to ,just in read the articles and read some comments.

Of course the occansional fans of other clubs that come in here, fes actually just express good opinions ,some let rip some rubbish ,start a fight and leave after getting tired.

Then there are those who say they are fans of Manutd but say the sickest things about Fergie and the club, depressing individuals, then take the high ground of pure stupidity that there wud not be a reaction fromthose who frequent this blog.

They react as though in shock, ‘ I m just expressing my opinion’ and start like whining machines about all sorts of greviances, and every attempt to ask them to understand or shut up and leave seems to spur them on even more ,just like piers morgan.

Theres something really sad about this individuals ,something about the way they look at life and how they just love to moan . And they need the negative reactions from others to feed them ,its thier whole reason for living.

Take that away and they wither . Just ignore them ,be free ,they can try to find each other in here and comfort each other that they are misunderstood and the worls is against them.

In thier sympathy for each other they will get off slicing and dicing others with pure joy .

So lets just ignore them, be free of them, peace of mind.

  170. Berbatov's Love Life says:

Besty. Ignore that fucking cunt mate. He is an attention seeker. Him and redhound are the sam fucking guy. I am sure if you read the archives you will indeed see that he hopes fergie dies on thew touchline. Fucking scum.

  173. wayne says:

@King Eric lol just trying to wind you up know how much you dread him signing

I just can’t understand why people want to swap Nani+Cash for Wesley Sneijder.

Nani was our best player last season and people want him out?! can’t understand that.

  179. dela says:

    @portugueseprincess

I’d take all the bitching in the world if these were actual women. The trouble with having trolls like YipYap around is that they bring all the negatives of a catfight, with none of the positives.

  180. Rai says:

Zehl – Nani must stay. If we signed a Sanchez (or his cousin) and he performed how Nani did last season, people would rave about him. Sure Nani makes the wrong decision at times, but he carried the mantle along with Berbatov last season in the early stages – with that duo 19 would not have happened.

  181. wayne says:

@Zelh hi mate don’t think many want him out,a lot of rumors after CL he was unhappy just led to a lot of speculation

  182. Zelh says:

Sky Sports sources understand that Samir Nasri has told Arsenal that he wants to leave the club.

So it’s official now. more or less.

  183. King Eric says:

dela. Yes indeed. I think it could be mike summerbee. I think his latest posts have revealed he is a bitter.

Right, off topic (Which sadly most of this thread has been)

    Zibbie

I do not appreciate the fact that you criticize who I can or cannot be ‘friends’ with here, I am old enough to chose whom I enjoy chatting with and whom I do not. Second of all you compared my friendship on the other thread with King Eric, Kings and Rai as being friends with Nazis or Jew killers, completely and utterly out of line comment which has painted a whole different picture of you in my mind………. Do not address me or use my name anymore and I will in turn chose to completely ignore you

  186. CedarsDevil says:

portugueseprincess – Too right my friend

Cyril Sneer – Cracked me, as usual! Was sort of waiting for a reaction from Kenny on his signing of Adam? Any update?

  187. Rai says:

  192. willierednut says:

Good evening lads. Same old shite on here again? I heard Nasri wants out, but I also heard city had a bid accepted for him. If he goes there, he’s just another cunt chasing paper.

    portugueseprincess

Xani? What is he, a mix between Nani and Xavi?

  194. Zelh says:

  195. portugueseprincess says:

  196. CedarsDevil says:

  198. MUFCOK says:

    @REDHOUND

The only thing I’ll give you is saying “Man U” it doesnt fucking matter at all all this about other teams using it as a Munich jibe, the fact we now say Man U has fucked that right off as we’ve embraced it as our own.

The rest of your post is fucking bollocks, local supporters will never take too kindly to oversea’s supporters because
    1) you never go to watch the matches
    2) when you do come to watch the matches you sit and take photo’s and are more excited about visiting the megastore than actually supporting United.
    3) The most ridiculous thing I hear from alot of GLORYHUNTING supporters is “My local sports store sold epl shirts and I saw united’s and liked it” ive even been told somebody starting supporting United because they liked playing as beckham on Fifa.

Thoses reasons are why alot of supporters, not just Mancunians but Northern lads, dont give a fuck about embracing foreign supporters because regardless of how much you “love united” hardly anyone looks into the history of united or even tries to embrace the culture of Manchester and Manchester United, they come over in coach loads with their camera’s and money, all this about “foreign support makes you money” the fact you think thats a postive explains why people dont like “outsiders” we as supporters dont give a fuck about the money, its fans from the USA/China etc that are turning football into a buisness rather than a sport for real supporters of the game and our club.

  199. Cyril Sneer says:

@ Cedars – Hi mate, I expect the latest report to be cleared tomorrow, the Boss has a lot of stuff to do at the moment planning this pre-season tour. I also have something else planned for tomorrow but all will have to be revealed then…

I have to say thanks for encouraging people to visit, I really appreciate it and it’s really great to see people from on here leaving comments.

I agree with your comments about Smalling, I have been very impressed with him over the last season, he has great maturity for his age and can only get even better. I really think he can be our future Rio, though the current Rio has plenty of life left in him…

The one-man clique has spoken!

  203. denton davey says:

Zelh @ 20:50: “I just can’t understand why people want to swap Nani+Cash for Wesley Sneijder.
That guy isn’t the answer at all..”

I’m in total agreement with that argument BUT we just don’t know what SAF is planning. I’d be shocked, surprised and disappointed to see Nani (and Dimmy, too [ ! ] ) used as makeweights to get Sneijder (or Nasri or Modric). BUT we just don’t know what SAF is planning.

One thing is for sure – he’s massively cleared out a lot of wages (RedNev, Edwin, Paul Scholes, Owen Hargreaves, John O’Shea and Wesley Brown) probably accounted for around 500,000 per week, if not more. The newcomers – De Gea, AshLey Young, and Phil Jones – porbably account for about half that much so it would seem that he now has plenty of freedom to add one (or maybe two) very high wage-earners.

Whether he does so – or not – this summer has already seen a major overhaul of a team that was EPL champions for the fourth time in five years and CL finalist for the third time in four years. Seen in this perspective, SAF’s wheelings-and-dealings are breath-taking and very, very much in the spirit of a gambler.

To me – as I’ve written before to the horror of some – the key to SAF’s forward-thinking is going to be how he uses WayneBoy. A “ScholesReplacement” ? or support striker behind Chicharito ?

My own preference would be for the first option but, of course, I’m not the one who makes these decisions.

It seems likely that if the second option is SAF’s preferred choice then we can expect to see a major, major transfer since, as matters now stand, the attacking-midfielder role isn’t up to the same level/quality as the rest of the first team.

The joker-in-the-pack would be if SAF is thinking in different terms with regard to formation and, therefore, personnel. Maybe he thinks that he can play with five attackers and one holding midfielder ? Maybe he thinks he can line up with three midfielders and not two wingers ? Who knows – but we’ll soon see what he’s got in mind as the American tour is almost upon us.

This next week might be really-and-trule “pregnant” with excited anticipation. What kind of baby are we going to see ? Will TheLads turn out to be TheKids – again, with similar results ? Stay tuned.

  204. willierednut says:

This football club is Manchester United. Not Timbuktu United.
I’m distressed to hear your tales of fans that are in it for themselves, not the club. It’s not surprising, as I’m sure similar complaints were heard when United’s fanbase first flourished across the UK.

You guys keep United mancunian, and we’ll try to manc up a little.

  225. MG says:

Dear Lord you leave this blog for a couple of hours and all hell breaks loose –

I just don’t want to say anything further apart from this – it’s a disgrace some so called fans calling this a dictatorship when many of us here stand by our team through serious shit amongst the good times.

I never see these so called fans turning up and standing shoulder to shoulder – I never see them holding the fort when United are getting battered on/off the field

It doesn’t warrant anything special to those that are constant on this blog with regards to United – their are as the Americans say no extra brownie points for contributing more than others – it matters not how much you put it in – everyone is equal and I’ve always said that – what matters is when the stupidity starts and then it becomes an apparent Nazi state for those that as they say themselves pop in and pop back out.

    Disgrace period

As for Zibbie – if it were the real one posting though I hope not – as I explained before your okay Zibbie but the shit that went down was out of order – nothing further to say no one has to answer to me – I have things to do at the moment which means I can’t do this full blast like I could.

Everything in life does not need an order – but it’s nice to accept and respect your fellow REDS – not like some who disrespect United – players and gaffer and then the fans. Sometimes it makes you wonder – that of course doesn’t excuse me either – but then for once I believe that searching for perfection is foolhardy – searching for a meaning and carrying it on is far more important and noble.

It’s unfortunate when some REDS believe that nothing can escape their dominion – just think about that – nothing is perfect not even United – but it should be a common bind that brings us together – unfortunately the bullshit begins to stand in the way and we have this like we have done today

    Sad.

  227. Rai says:

    Princess/Cedars – Xani could be a massive player :)

Willie – I hope the birthday is going well mate. Can’t see us going after both Nasri and Sneijder (although you never know), I think Sit Alex will have identified a top target and unless that player doesn’t want to come – I can’t see the boss giving up on what he wants. We haven’t been this aggressive in the transfer market since 2007-8. A similar pattern occured. We did our business early and then our top targets we had to be patient..

  228. Costas says:

Count me as another one that doesn’t particulary give a fuck to see Modric, Sneidjer or Nasri at United.

Talkshite is pretty hillarious though. 12 mil plus 2 players for Modric? Sure. If those 2 players are Bebe and Obertan. ;)

The act of being wise is the act of knowing what to overlook.

fitb @ 22:25: “The summer is just to fun to worry about transfers.”

I’m not “worried” – just obsessional.

  231. smartalex says:

Notey90 – so I’ve been bisecting babies for no good reason?

  232. willierednut says:

Rai – Agree mate. I can’t see us getting both. If Nasri is desperate to leave Arsenal and Wenger won’t sell him to us, then he might go to city. That could mean we get Sneijder. It’s still all up in the air atm. Very interesting few weeks coming up.

  233. RedMegleeker says:

    Nothing happening I see.

  234. smartalex says:

‘there are no concerns within Old Trafford of ‘Chicharito’ being lured away by a rival club, United’s policy of recognising the progress of emerging stars is set to see him rewarded with a pay rise and extended deal.’

  235. Balaji Sivaraman says:

@Rai, The problem is that apart from Nasri – which I thought was a rumor but Willie said otherwise and I am taking his word for it – every other name spouted so far seems to be newspaper bollocks. We cannot say that Sir Alex is truly interested in Modric or Sneijder because I’ve not seen any proper indication from our side that this is the case.

That is part of the reason why I was surprised that Renee came out with the statement about Sneijder. I am not too sure Sir Alex would’ve taken kindly to it given the newspapers lap up any tidbit about us and twist the words to mean something they were never meant to be.

There has been no word from our camp regarding a mid-fielder signing. For all we know, it could be Tom Cleverley lining up in the center or Sir Alex decided to gamble with Anderson and not buy anyone new at all. Or like Denton has been arguing since eternity, he has decided to move Wayne further back which seems highly unlikely. It could be any of these or none of these.

I guess the difference is that in 2007 we had a clear target of Hargreaves and we got him that time. This time neither is the target nor the M.O. clear. In fact, the whole summer has come down the Sir Alex duping us all again like he always does. I am just waiting to see how he fools us this time around – will it be another Smalling/Hernandez remains to be seen.

  236. Zelh says:

Costas – it’s rumoured that those 2 players are taibi and bellion

  237. fergie is the boss says:

denton davey – yea true, I am obbsesed is well, maybe I am just completely out of comments to type, that there is nothing more to say. That until that key midfielder is signed, and how we fit him into the united team, my comments seem to be drying up. Cmon fergie, get him signed so I can type new things

  238. CedarsDevil says:

    MG – Evening my friend….. 3 points

1- Please keep posting, RoM misses you

2- Not a case of stolen identity but more of true colors being shown

3- Not sad but pathetic to be honest

  239. Costas says:

    @Zelh

Well, if it’s 12 mil plus these 2 players, then I’d say that this is a very fair estimation of Modric’s value. ;)

  240. Zelh says:

Costas – 6m + Taibi and Bellion should be enough. might be even too much though.

  241. CedarsDevil says:

    Zelh

Taibi? Where on earth did you drag him out from! :-)

That 3 – 3 draw at OT against Southampton still brings painful yet funny memories!

  242. MG says:

Cedars Good Evening my Good friend

Cedars I miss myself sometimes lol ;) – but rest assured I’ll be around – Writing is coming along quite nicely – and you know Cedars I equally miss my RED family – but this has to be done – and I know you know that…

I find it sad reading through what I read – I don’t want to say anything else – Zibbie has a knack of saying something right at the right time – but I’ll leave everything else to him – not my place to judge out.

This is as we have all said a unique thing we have got going – it’s a shame when the minority don’t get it or see it.

19 is the only thing I have to say – and yes we did get our ass kicked by Barca and I hope we get to see a United team at least beat them for a CL if not rip them apart.

    As always Cedars… We’ll go again…

  243. CedarsDevil says:

    MG

Hat taken off and glass raised to you buddy………. Good luck with your writing, I am sure it will be a master piece

  244. MG says:

That’s then Cedars three masterpieces in one go lol ;)

Goodnight Cedars my good friend – MG bows to his RED family.

  245. Fred says:

In case you didn’t get the message last night: Happy Birthday, Willie. I’m glad to hear you’ve had a great day. :)

  246. smartalex says:

Was it Eric Steele that wasn’t recommending de Gea, but we went for him any way?
René Meulensteen may also be part of an elaborate ploy. It is not yet understood quite why he has been so chatty. All very interesting.

  247. Rai says:

Willie/Balaji – Definately an interesting few weeks ahead. I wasn’t sure before but I think we will still sign another player. The boss has been very quiet this summer. If his business was all done and dusted, to stop the rumours and let the team prepare for the new season I think he would have come out and said he has finished in the transfer market or even a “no value :) ” comment. The fact that he’s been so reserved in the media makes me think he’s still got a thing or two up his sleeve. I want to see Cleverley given the chance but I think he will have to
    be patient next season.

  248. MUFCOK says:

    @smartalex

nice one mate, thats the sort of mentality people need to take on!

  249. CedarsDevil says:

    Kings

Great news indeed and even better to see you here buddy

  250. Balaji Sivaraman says:

@Kings, Yeah, as I mentioned at the top of the thread, there haven’t been youngsters performing like Smalling and Hernandez have for United in a long time. They just weren’t supposed to be as effective and as mature as they demonstrated. It just should never have happened like that. But it did and they are getting their just rewards.

Although Hernandez has an amazingly mature head on his shoulders and would never think about moving away for the foreseeable future, there has been an increase in interest from Virus as usual. A new deal would not only reward Chicharito but also thwart interest from those bastards. We might as well put a massive release clause while we’re at it just to be safe.

  251. James says:

Smalling’s been a great signing, always stepped up for Rio when needed. New deal definitely deserved!

  252. willierednut says:

Fred – I seen it mate. Cheers.

  253. Kings says:

CedarsDevil – Hello my friend. Hope you are well.

Balaji Sivaraman – Hello mate. Fantastic debut season for these guys. If Jones, Young and De Gea have the same impact next season, then even better. We have a young squad set up to dominate for at least 10 years. Even though I wanted to see Tunni get a look in next season, I think the 6 month loan move to Peterborough will do him good and give him a taster of what first team football is all about, coupled with the physical demands of that league. I sincerely hope we bring him back after his loan spell though. With the return of the loanees plus the youth players waiting in the wings, the future is indeed bright for United. Exciting times ahead my friend.

  254. smartalex says:

Your birthday caries on as long as you keep drinking or celebrating willierednut.

  255. CedarsDevil says:

In years to come Smalling will prove to be one of the club’s best ever signings

  256. smartalex says:

On Friday, English Premier League champions Manchester United confirmed six players traveling to New England for their July 13 tilt against the Revolution, including England internationals Wayne Rooney and Rio Ferdinand and Portuguese winger Nani. Also on the list are striker Michael Owen, South Korean midfielder Park Ji-Sung and club captain Nemanja Vidic.

    The link, not too interesting.

  258. smartalex says:

I chose the walk on part in the war, and ended up leopard crawling and running for my life.

  259. willierednut says:

Goodnight lads. And again, thanks for all your birthday wishes. As my old mate RedScot(the real one) used to say, keep it Red, or you’re dead! 19!

  262. smartalex says:

    Cheers willierednut, many happy returns!

  263. Sparkz says:

Don’t wanna hype him up too much…but Smalling just seems to have that “something” about him. One of those defenders that you just know can make it to the very top. It’s hard to explain, but it’s to do with his reading of the game more than anything else.

The physical attributes- his pace, strength and dominance in the air is already there. But his reading of the game seems incredible at times, I was watching him for the England U21′s as well, he makes some great interceptions.

On top of that, he’s composed on the ball and always willing to get forward and join attacks. Really excited for him and hope he fulfils his potential

  264. CedarsDevil says:

Signing off as well buddies……. Night all true REDS

  265. Rai says:

Willie – Goodnight and again, wishing you a very happy birthday. You’re a proper RED mate much respect.

  266. FletchTHEMAN says:

Just popping back for a look. Seems the war of words is settled. Those lads need to get a life.

Now we are being linked with Schwieny and Khedira, Khedira is a slow lumbering type, would make Berba look like a rocket. Really crazy season.

City owners really have a case of United enzy. Last year’s away kit and this this years renaming of wastelands. Say, anyone take a look at ESPN’s City page. Scroll down the right side, just under the box called “Stadium” is a box called “About”. Ha ha ha, had to written by a red ha ha ha.

  269. supertramp says:

REDHOUND: Mate, I’m a foreign fan, an alleged Glory-Hunter, but I beg to differ with some of your points. Your basic stance is spot-on – Just the other day, on a forum, I actually received abuse from a Mancunian fan, who was born after I had started supporting United. However, I’ve also seen foreign fans who get way too arsed abt this aspect. I’ve heard stupid stuff from foreign fans like, “They’ll know how loyal we are, once United stop winning.” That’s pure tripe. I’d rather be called a shameless Glory-Hunter rather than see United lose its supremacy in any which way. Secondly, by and large, ROM is not one of those forums where foreign fans are persecuted. You may have noticed that one of the most prominent posters on this forum, Balaji, who although I don’t know but I assume is not from Manchester. So there! The term “Man U” is unacceptable! End of. Rather than whining abt it, fans need to correct this error – I can’t understand how one can conveniently write off the “Man U” issue. If one truly loves United, how can you possibly not get pissed off. And although, I can’t remember if Becks ever used the term, but if he did, it’s just disappointing. A lot of your points make sense and I know coz I’ve received a lot of flak, but tough luck mate – part of the package. So let’s move on and look forward to kicking some Dipper/Bitter/Gunner backside in the coming season! Cheers.

  270. StatesideAussie says:

Great news about Smalling. Really pleased, he’s done enough already to show that he’s got more than just “potential”.

Anyway, I am back in the States and it’s as hot as fucking Hades. Had a whole month Down Under, but all good things must end :-(

The pre-season tour starts soon, next week I think. Just got to figure out if I can afford to get Fox Soccer switched back on hahaha! The sooner the regular season starts again, the better. Opening match, the Charity Shield, should be interesting. But even then this transfer madness will drag on for — what? — another month. Fuck me.

  271. Rai says:

Stateside – VS City is the perfect way to start off a new season. Those deluded cunts will get all giddy, thinking they’ve made it because they’re playing in a Charity Shield….I’m confident even without our strongest team we’ll put them back in their place..

  272. FletchTHEMAN says:

    Stateside.
I feel your pain mate. Some on here coming a bit unhinged with the lack of anything but
smoke and mirrors to tilt against. Hope the preseason brings some happiness.

  273. denton davey says:

Balaji @ 23:00: “Or like Denton has been arguing since eternity, he has decided to move Wayne further back which seems highly unlikely. It could be any of these or none of these.”

SkyItalia is reporting that the Nasri deal is done – 23 million.

Why ? I don’t get it but, then, I’m not the sharpest knife in the drawer, am I ?

  274. FletchTHEMAN says:

Denton, I heard it was up on sky and then pulled down. Don’t really buy it, but hey. You can join me in my shop to sharpen our knives if it happens. Ha ha ha. Wenger will be crucified which will be fun to watch.
Not sure I buy the idea that Nasri is anything but a short version of Carrick, but it might free up Carrick to do what most of us feel he is capable of. Options are always good I quess.

  275. YorYor says:

Smalling will be integral to our future, just have to hope he doesn’t get chastised if he does suffer his second season syndrome, like Evans.
If this is the season which Evans bounces back, we’ll have a good depth in our defence again.

The summer does strange things to some people, eh? Pre-season tour is starting, time to watch some United and get back to normal.

  276. Manchuchu says:

    Fuck you xenophobes.

I am foreign and Ive supported United since they won fuck all and had Neil fucking Webb..

In fact, I’ve supported United pretty much since I learnt to walk and turn the tele on.

Just because your vagina shat you out closer to them rather than mine doesn’t mean shit. I grab a shirt from the club every season (glazers or not, be damned) because in whatever small way I know at least that money is going towards the club. Over here in Australia supporting United means a sports subscription to a cable channel, which is money, and also means waking up at 4am to catch the season games, rain or shine, weekday or not.

Accumulatively, overseas fans need to cough up a whole lot more in order to support the team they love. Who the hell are you xenophobes to say you’re more fans than them? waddling off downstairs off chips and gravy and mooching dad’s season tix, and you a real fan?

    Cocksmokers.

  277. smartalex says:

    A foreign object.

  278. StatesideAussie says:

Manchuchu … yeah, there’s some who will never accept a United supporter unless he was actually born on the Hallowed Turf of Old Trafford, with Sir Alex in attendance, but why would you let that worry you? I’ve been through the same thing from time to time. I do believe I’ve posted here myself about the trials and tribulations of following a club from afar — how difficult it is, and how the difficulties are different to the ones you face if you live in the club’s vicinity. Funny, I just came back to the States from visiting my mum on the Gold Coast. Man, she has kept everything — including all the old football books and annuals from the ’60s, which were all I had back then. That was how I started following United — we didn”t have any sort of TV until the early 70s, so for me, in the 60s, I used to get 1 or 2 ‘annuals’ every year … and my bloody mum has kept them! From 1965, 1967, 68, 69 … I mean, jeepers, that brought back some memories!

So don’t let it worry you, mate. Who cares what others think anyway? Once you start down that path, it never ends.

And as for waking up early to catch the matches, my advice would be to save up for a digital video recorder, what they call in Oz a “PVR”. I just got one for my mum, only $249 at Dick Smith’s and works fine.

  279. Manchuchu says:

    Stateside:

yeah I do have the Foxtel IQ units for recording… I just love the team too much.

Got to watch that shit live! My boys need me!

Or at least that’s what I tell myself. It was worse when I lived in south east Asia. Liverpool fans metastasize there like cancer cells. The grief you get there as a United supporter is unparalleled. I’ve witnessed full blown fistfights break out during pub telecasts of United v Liverpool usually at a ratio of 1 united fan to about 2.5 scouse scum. It’s unreal. The passion dwarfs anything I’ve seen over in Australia.

And it isn’t like they don’t know the history either. They’re immensely well versed in the lore and traditions.

  280. denton davey says:

OOOOPS ! My bad – the BBC reported that ManSHitty had signed Nasri – NOT UTD. Dyslexia ? or what ?

  281. AceMace says:

    @MUFCOK

I am a Man Utd fan from Malaysia and while I understand where you are coming from, it’s definitely not right to clump all foreign fans as “outsiders” who don’t know the history of the club and support the club superficially… I have supported Man Utd since the days of Bryan Robson and so have many of my Man Utd mates over here… We are passionate about Man Utd as anyone… I have got into shouting matches with even other Man Utd fans when I hear that dreaded ManU… I have had mates crying when Man Utd lose, fistfights when some Liverpool fan thinks that Carragher beats the shit out of Vidic, and a mate who was buried in a Man Utd kit(god bless his soul)… I still feel tears of joy coming to my eyes everytime I see that Giggs goal against Arsenal in 99… Most of my mates know and understand the history behind our beloved club…
So please… I hope this would change your perception a lil bout us “outsiders”. There are those who do support Man Utd because “Beckham was so cute” or “The devil on the badge is so cool” but I would like to think they r in the minority… When Man Utd came over here, 85000 fans watched the game… Will do my best to educate those who don’t understand what Man Utd is bout…

No offence meant mate… Just my 2 cents worth…. Glory Glory Man Utd…

Wow you fans need to calm down, so you’re gonna get wound up by what someone says off the internet? seriously? all i can see is rants, you’ve made your point, like i said you’re all true fans regardless of what part you support the team, now can we revert back to football matters and put this Bullshit issue aside.

  285. Rai says:

MUFCOK – I think you were a little harsh mate. I know what it’s like when you go to OT and the atmosphere is shite because of people telling you to be quiet or calm down, but that’s usually people from the UK – quite often middle aged ladies and men who think it’s a theatre. Go sit in the North Stand, you’ll see plenty of locals who don’t contribute nothing to the atmosphere.

I’ve said on here before. I followed Arturo Gatti’s (RIP) career and went to see him fight. He was based in New Jersey and I would save my pennies to fly across to see him. Now the locals embraced me, because they took it as a sign of my passion for supporting him. I was never once called an outsider. So if there’s people from all over the world flying in to see United, you should respect the effort they have gone to. Even at FC there’s supporters clubs dotted internationally. Those clubs are embraced and not dismissed.

  296. Clint-IamYourPapii says:

    Good Morning Reds,

-Looks like Teletubbie has moved to the pool of scouse shite.
    -Sunderland have signed 100+ players.
-Man Shitty’s owners have found a legal way to boost commercial revenues of a stadium that isnt theirs

Samir Nose-ri joined United yesterday for £25M & Now hes off to Shitty for £22.2M and tomorrow he’s off to Chelshit for £23.7M plus add ons.

I would n’t be suprised if the shark faced, buck toothed, Milk bottle sucking Crossient ended up signing an improved contract with Arse-Anal then moved to Madrid/Inter or Barca the year after for around £30M.

  297. Rai says:

Clint – I wouldn’t be surprised if he did sign an improved contract. With Fabregas going and Arsenal already losing their star man – him and his agent may just be playing games….then again, who knows……if he signs I’ll have to back him – until then I can carry on being abusive towards the goody cunt.

Hello Cedars – Yeah mate they’re a comedy club. From the fans up to the owners they’re all pretty clueless. How many players are still on their books?! They still pay wages towards Santa Cruz, Wayne Bridge, Adebayor…

  298. Rai says:

They’re probably still paying Shaun Fuck Goater. A freak of a club. Looking forward to more laughs this coming season

  299. Clint-IamYourPapii says:

I just can’t see Naseri joining us or chelsea. I think if he does move he’ll move to Shitty to do a Tevez and try to fuck off to real club.

I Don’t think Nasri is good on the wings as Nani, Valencia or Young. Hes only played in the middle of midfield for around 1 to 2 months of the season and that was part of a midfield 3 which we don’t really play unless we’re playing away in europe. I’ll back the cunt if he joins but I’ll continue to hate on this prick until his future is sorted out and all the speculation has come to an end.

  300. CedarsDevil says:

Shaun Fuck Goater? Hahaha, classic! Where on earth did you dig him out from? You could be right mind you, they are clueless idiots….

What a waste of time. While I’ve been drifting away from those who genuinely care for me, the moaners keep on groaning. The truth is that it is not wrong for us to be friends. Anyone can become part of our close family, or not. That depends on their behaviour.

So fuck anyone that doesn’t want me to have good friends on RoM. Tough cookie!

I love United. I love my mates. I love my family. I love.

  306. CedarsDevil says:

    Papii

Nice one :-) The bastards have a lot of travelling to do for their away matches now! hahaha

  307. Zelh says:

first of all happy birthday to the twins and Ashley Young :)

Now to the rest of you deluded reds!

  308. CedarsDevil says:

I love you smartalex , let that statement pour down like acid down all the hateful trolls’ hearts

  309. CedarsDevil says:

Our friend slim summed it up very well earlier on this thread….. The genuine posters, the people who truly care and love our club will always out number the trolls and hateful bloody nut cases who only come here to stir things up or are in much need for attention…….

  310. CedarsDevil says:

    Zelh

The twins share the same birthday? Wow, what are the odds hey?

  311. CedarsDevil says:

Blimey, I am having a case of posting diarrhea! Bloody sad old fool!

  312. smartalex says:

… and I love you too CedarsDevil! You are an amazing human being. Your love for United, your incredible humanity, care, and dignity. You are a man that I am proud to respect and admire.

Thank you for being CedarsDevil, a truly true Red.

  313. Clint-IamYourPapii says:

    What I found rediculously hilarious about Trolls are that when you interpret what they say its sound something like this;

“You have 10 friends, I have none, I hate you because i am not your friend”
“You think your smart but your not because i am better than you nanananana”
“Can I be part of your gang please? No ! Why all I ever do is complain and bitch that doesn’t stop us being Girlfriends. I would platt your hair but your soo minging”
“I like your name, can I have it? Fine I’ll just copy it Nanananana Na”
    “I don’t like you anymore”
“your always being mean to me, your a big meanie”
“Your not a real fan because you don’t lick my ass and respond to me”
“just because my name is Bill Knob doesn’t mean I am a Knob *crys*”

Grow up Trolls, put your thinking caps on, Fart out that gas your letting free on the net and either buy some balls from from your nearest sports shop. Just because you comment on a Blog doesn’t mean you should expect to be spooned by everyone.

Heed my Warning for I am a 8ft 3, Half Man, Half Bear-Pig with a Facebook account and my Dad is stronger than your Dad, So Don’t mess with me or I’ll eat your childrens toys.

  314. MG says:

    Love is in the air….

    Afternoon Manchester United ;)

  315. Clint-IamYourPapii says:

So ashley young shares the same birthday as the twins. COINCIDENCE
We Have Found Our 3rd Twin or The 3rd of The Triplets.

I think Fergie needs to go find Octuplets for United then, We can field the Da Silva Twins and Van De Gea and the Whole world (Barca) Will be Awestruck.

  316. willierednut says:

Whats happening here today? Some guy love going on? :)

    Good afternoon Republik!

My minions tell me, Robbo the legend is the latest to approve of United’s move for Nasri. That’s Robbo, Paddy Crerand and Sir Bobby Charlton now?

  317. Zelh says:

    willierednut – And Scholes :)

  318. Clint-IamYourPapii says:

Marlon Harewood has joined our Toughest Rivals in Europe….Shenzhen Phoenix

Damn It David Gill….First you miss out on Marlon King, you refuse to buy Jay Bothroyd and now miss out on Harewood. Fuck You Gilly.

  319. smartalex says:

Good afternoon MG! I trust you are well, sir!

Good day after, willierednut! I trust you are not that well? A little green around the gills, maybe?

Good day Papii! You seem happy, good!

  320. Heywood is Red says:

    Clint
funniest thing i have read for long time
Can i just clarify that i do not, nor never have wanted to join a ‘clique’ or associated parties with this statement. I just wish to express my opinion on another persons humour. Further discussions toward Clint or any other member should be recognised as an opinion and an attempt to interact via the medium of the world wide web with no other secretive agenda motherfuckers

  321. MG says:

Good Afternoon smartalex – wilierednut – Cedars – Papii

    Everyone ;)

Trust all is well smartalex in the Republik – surely sooner or later the Sith will be out in show – for now the lightsabers can rest in earnest

    Till later me hearties :D

  322. CedarsDevil says:

Why thank you smartalex, touching words indeed my friend…. Do not hold back buddy, together we will bash the freaks….

    Papii

Calm down before I sue you for having to buy new underwear whenever I read your posts!

  323. CedarsDevil says:

Remember, call him Papii not Clint!

  324. CedarsDevil says:

    Willie

Robbo said that? Blind faith in the man if he did!

  325. Balaji Sivaraman says:

What the fuck is wrong with ROM?

One day all you see is fighting and waging wars on the Internet which nobody cares about.

Next day, we’ve got our very own version of Brokeback Mountain.

  326. CedarsDevil says:

But we love you too Balaji! Not sure who ‘we’ are but we love you

  327. CedarsDevil says:

    Heywood is Red

Nicely put buddy, the whole ‘clique’ crap in a bloody myth…. Them sad motherfuckers as you rightly call them get all itchy if 2 or more posters agree on something and in return ignore them….. Some bloody weirdos out there

  328. mikekelly12 says:

Well this is a pleasant change from all the tantrums that have been going on in here for the last week or so.
Cook’s stadium naming ideas prior to naming Wastelands The United stadium were

    a) Old Trafford
    b) The Theatre of Dreams

I’m thinking of selling the name of my local to Allied Carpets and getting £500 quid. I realise I don’t own my local and I’m pretty sure people won’t mind going down the Carpet instead of the Bee, but hey, apparently that doesn’t matter anymore!

  329. smartalex says:

Mounting until your back is broken is fucking hard coring.

Good day Balaji Sivaraman, how are you, my friend? Well, I hope!
I’ve been meaning to ask you a question.

How do you feel about me addressing you as Balaji sometimes?

I’m very happy to use your full name at all times, although occasionally I wonder if I’m being a little too formal. Any preferences?

  330. CedarsDevil says:

    Willie

Cheers for the link buddy, the plot thickens ……..

  331. willierednut says:

Costas – Interesting link? It seems we are clearing the decks, for a CM to be signed.

  332. CedarsDevil says:

    mikekelly12

 Cracked me up! I agree, whenever its a troll free afternoon, RoM is always a pleasant place to be

  333. Cyril Sneer says:

Oh sure, nobody loves Cyril. Well check this out:

Benjali Silvermane: I tell you, that Cyril is freakin’ awesome.

Kostas: I have to say, you’re totally right.

EmGee: Yeah, and his website is the best on the internet.

SmartAlbert: Absolutely, I have to go there right away and tell him how great he is.

WoolyRedNuts: Me too, I love it when he takes the piss out of everyone.

CiderDevil: Ha, I’ve been telling you lot for ages how magnificent he is.

Ya see, the one-man clique in action.

  334. wayne says:

on the nasri situation wenger doesn’t really have a say, nasri has all the power, like some other lads i was thinking wenger won’t sell to utd or rentboys but what are his options.keep nasri and get nothing for him or sell him to a european team for less money.
thing is nasri can always turn round and refuse to go anywhere.look at what he said last week.
    not about money
    wants to win trophies
wants to play for a team whoose style of play he’ll enjoy
can he make it more obvious seems like 3 big check marks alongside utd to me
if he does end up going to city then we know just a little money whore and a liar.

  335. CedarsDevil says:

Mind you, if its the Bee or the Carpet, if the ale is crap it will always be crap!

  336. mikekelly12 says:

Cedars – ~How ya doing pal? It’s true though, it appears the laws now allow you to go around recieving money buy selling the names of buildings you don’t own to companies who want them. We could clean up! We could sell the names of all the Metrolink Stations from Altrincham to Bury!!

Cyril – I love Balaji’s re-dubbed Silvermane….I wish I had a cool name like Silvermane, takes me back to my Thundercats days!

  337. wayne says:

don’t attack me i know its not utd related but its a pretty good article about how levy’s hardball tatics is detrimental to spurs, really opposite to how utd like to get transfers done and dusted, the 88pts stat is pretty alarming

    http://www.adifferentleague.co.uk/p6_1_8305_tottenham-hotspur-club-focus-is-daniel-levy’s-hardball-stance-on-transfers-counterproductive.html

  338. smartalex says:

Cyril Sneer – Very funny, as always! Thanks for all the laughs!

    mikekelly12 and Heywood is Red

All good mates? Enjoying the clique-free environment without trolls, or moles?
    Good to be Red!

  339. dannysoya says:

No one is even bothering to answer my question? are the lads back in training? when is our first pre season game?

  340. willierednut says:

    WoolyRedNuts lol. Very good Cyril!

  341. smartalex says:

wayne, how are you, my friend? Well, I hope!

Excellent link, thanks. In 10 years, Spurs have gained 88 out of a possible 207 points in August and September. Wow! It does seem likely that Levy’s hardball transfer methods have cost Spurs dearly.

  342. Clint-IamYourPapii says:

Guy Love Pandemic on RoM….I Like ;)

    Good Afternoon MG & Smartalex

Heywood is Red – Glad you enjoyed the post. Found the motherfuckers part at the end funny

Cedars – You wear Underwear? The new fashion trend is man sized Diapers. Next Time you wet yourself, it will absorb all moisture around your crotch regions and plus its good for sensitive skin.

Heres a great brand Diaper http://www.huggiesclub.co.uk
    They are very reliable just read their guarentee section;

“Here at Huggies® we’re commited to making the best nappies possible to keep your little one snug and secure without any leaks.
That’s why mum’s kindly voted our Huggies® Newborn their best disposable nappy in the Mother and Baby awards.”

  343. willierednut says:

dannysoya – The lads started training on the 4th. First game is on the 13th.

  344. Cyril Sneer says:

@MikeKelly – Yeah, I was a Thundercats fan too. Cheetara was my favourite though not sure why, she’d be a bit creepy if you met her for real.

@smartalex – Good afternoon sir. As an outstanding wordsmith yourself, I would greatly appreciate your comments on Agent of Fergie when you have time. Link is in my user name, laughs are not exactly guaranteed but subliminally implied :D

@Wille – Hope the hangover isn’t too severe this morning, sounds like you had a good birthday.

  345. scan74 says:

  346. wayne says:

@smartalex fine thanks mate, yeah in some cases probably CL,so although he thinks he’s smart cost the club millions to save a few.

  347. mikekelly12 says:

Smartalex – Yep, certainly is good to be Red!!!

Danny – I think they fly out to the US on Monday.

  348. willierednut says:

Cyril – Had a great day mate. Not feeling too bad funny enough lol.

  349. Balaji Sivaraman says:

@smartalex, I am doing quite great actually. Bristling with anticipation like a child for Deathly Hallows: Part 2 which I am catching on Thursday right after work. Right now, I am going through the first seven movies in order. I haven’t had this much excitement since standing in the queue on July 21, 2007 with my ear covered with noise-cancelling headphones to get my hands on Deathly Hallows.

I actually prefer just Balaji. I am sure most of you do not know this but the second part is not actually a surname or second name; we don’t have that kind of stuff in South India. It is, in fact, my father’s name. I started using that because there was another poster named Balaji and I wanted to avoid confusion.

@Cyril, You just gave me the coolest screen name that I could use in my video game time. Thank You for that. Now I don’t have to use some of the worst screen names in the history of gaming.

  350. CedarsDevil says:

Lovely troll free on RoM, great day actually ….

    mikekelly12

I am very well buddy, if ever there was a name I wanted to change than it would have to be Chapel-en-le-Frith, the station name annoyed the fuck out of me every morning as I made my way from Buxton to Manchester

  351. mikekelly12 says:

Cyril – Mate, you’d run a fucking mile if she came up to you in the boozer and asked you for your number! I was a Panthera fan myself!

Scan74 – Fuck off you cunt!!! Talking bollocks!!…..just kidding mate : ) You’re spot on pal, very sensible point of view. However, this morning sees a page turned with a verh happy vibe. Come on in and dive into the love that is ROM!

  352. wayne says:

@scan 74 hi mate understand your points, problem is normally the same few saying the same things, last year when gibbo was abused and run off face book or twitter[whichever] then some on here come on and abuse him,do you think thats right to let that go?
its not a matter of these so called fans criticizing in a constructive way,its always abusive, fair enough they do it to get a rise and then complain about being attacked but this is a utd blog and if the manager, players, club come under attack i’m going to defend them.
don’t give a fuck who reads it,it happens on every blog just more so on rom,que sera, trolls and cunts can fuck off

  353. CedarsDevil says:

    Papii

Yes I do wear underwear, now piss off and stop making fun of me!

  354. willierednut says:

Cedars – Don’t jinx mate lol.

  355. mikekelly12 says:

Cedars – Chapel-en-le-Frith, that should be your user name!!! Right folks, I’m going to have to nip out and do some chores. Good to see ROM back to its old self and good chatting with you all (although briefly) this morning. I will pop in again later on to see what wise words Scott has for us to comment on. Have a great day lads.

  356. smartalex says:

scan74 – Excellent advise, thanks! We must all try to raise the standards on RoM.

wayne – the old Penny-wise Pound-foolish taken to a new level by Levy.

Cyril Sneer – I will attend, and will comment from the heart!

Balaji – I’ve read some of your movie reviews. I won’t be reading the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 review, as I’ve not read or watched any of the Harry Potters yet. One day I will buy them all and watch them. I’ve not even watched The Ring trilogy yet!

  357. rohan19 says:

this thread can be safely called bipolar…

  358. smartalex says:

  361. rohan19 says:

bloody hell even i can’t wait for the deathly hallows.. anticipation killing me…
there won’t be a single bad review about deathly hallows.. that im sure off

  362. Balaji Sivaraman says:

@smartalex, Oh, WOW! So somebody does actually click on my link and visit my blog. Thank you my friend. It is a hobby of mine but I don’t do it as regularly as I should.

If you ever get down to it, the books are better in both cases. The Ring Trilogy movies are great for obvious reasons but nothing like having those images leap off the pages of a book.

@rohan19, It reflects the state of the football market now.

Yesterday Nasri is looking closer to signing for City: “Fuck off you snood wearing cunt.”
Today Captain Marvel sings his praises: “Naseri. Naseri. Lalalala”
Tomorrow he looks closer to Inter: “I never wanted sharkface with his jaws near Old Trafford.”
Monday…. Well, you get the idea.

From next week, when pre-season officially begins, we will all come back to normalcy.

I am loving being on ROM today. The pleasures of level-headed discussions (not necessarily on football but that is due to this being summer) is awesome instead of swearing everywhere and name calling which becomes tedious to read.

@Cedars, Sorry my friend, I missed your post at the top. The love is mutual for me also. :)

  363. willierednut says:

Shush Balaji. The trolls might be watching. :)

  367. Zelh says:

Kuszczak and Gibson not in the squad for US-Tour.

    bye bye.

  368. smartalex says:

Rooney uploaded the photograph of his son in the everton shirt. Kai had been at his grandparents, who dressed him according to their hearts, as they should! Anyone who thinks that they love Wayne or Kai more than the grandparents do, is fooling themselves. We have no right to interfere in their relationship.

After Wayne uploaded the foto to twitter, he said that he will be dressing Kai ‘correctly’ today, and will post the new pics thereafter.

  369. GoatinaUnitedShirt says:

Come on whos got any news, weve been inundated with film reviews and bloody tunes. Music not “ugh ruhtuh to pa-i-un pees”, “here have one of these”, ” A return to paddington please – TUNES”.

  370. Zibbie says:

@willie through the madness I missed what is of real importance, happy birthday, thank god for another mark on the chalkboard of life.
    Go Man Utd.

  371. GoatinaUnitedShirt says:

This Rooney business is nothing, his son wearing an Everton kit and all that. We never signed Rooney for his intelligence or up bringing just his footballing ability. Looking at him Im surprised he puts his boots on himself the fekkin Gibbon.
I once put a Celtic shirt on my wife, suited her right nice. Knifed the bitch though, I didnt marry a bhoy, Im no poof.

  372. Rai says:

Zelh – Looks like they’re off then…Shame about Gibbo but he has to do what’s best for himself…

  373. GoatinaUnitedShirt says:

Willie was it your birthday mate, my condolences. Another year more unlikely to get into a young girls knickers. Nevermind mate I go to the old peoples rest home if I want some imaciated bald pussied pancake titted wench for supper.

  374. willierednut says:

Goat – Nicely put, I think? Lol.

Zibbie – Have to say, thank you. Be churlish of me, if I did not.

  375. wayne says:

gotta love the misery that is wengers, fabregas not going on pre-season tour looks like barcelona going to finally sign him.nasri being made to go on tour, had to laugh reminded me as a kid being dragged to a relatives house on sundays kicking and screaming

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2012879/Samir-Nasri-forced-Arsenals-pre-season-Asian-tour.html

  376. GoatinaUnitedShirt says:

Rai – Gibbos not getting any younger and for a prospect hes older than most. Cleverley is a clear upgrade and well thats life, hope he finds somewhere good to go and get regular footie. I am half surprised that Fergie decided to get two new keepers at once because PIG would have been a great full back guy who knows the ropes should anything go wrong. But maybe SAFs hand was played in making decisions earlier than he perhaps planned.

  377. Zibbie says:

I get that I have not been here from the start, things change, change is the only constant in life. I can remember when Spain had no spine and could not win the big game. I have recovered from my back surgery and will only come and go again. I have learned so much here from all, for that, this Glory Hunter Cunt is working on being a true red.
    Glory Glory Man Utd.

  378. willierednut says:

I heard stoke are in for Gibson. That leaves us with few CMs. Must be at least one coming in. I think PIG is off to West Brom.

  379. wayne says:

@willie not sure how old you are,me i’m a geeser so no longer see brithdays as happy, getting old really sucks but if you’re still a sprightly young lad.happy birthday mate

  380. Ash says:

Bit surprised that morrison and pogba are not selected foe the U.S tour. Not even the likes of oliver gill.Reece brown but I think reece is selected for fifa under-20 world cup squad for england.
Still eager to see United in action.
    Here is our squad.

Personally I think of myself as a Oger not a Troll.

  382. GoatinaUnitedShirt says:

Has anyone got an up to date United squad and who fits into the picture in regards youth, home growns, the 25 etc

  383. Zelh says:

Goat – It was obvious from the start that we would need a new No. 1 and a new back-up cause Kuz wanted to be the new No. 1 or would be off. So he’s off now.
    Best luck to him.

Gibson is 24 and not a prospect anymore. If he wants regular football he has to go.

  384. Zibbie says:

    GLORY, GLORY MAN UTD !!
    GO ROONEY!!!

  385. willierednut says:

Wayne – 34 mate. Not far off the big 40! Lol.

  386. wayne says:

gibbo been offered 40k a week by bruce has this weekend to make up his mind or the deals off.gibbos 23 with very little playing time, still think there’s a upside to him

  387. Zibbie says:

@Wayne and all, growing old is not for wimps.

  388. GoatinaUnitedShirt says:

Bloody hell Ash, it really brings it home to you the missing Oshea, missing Scholes, Fletcher?, Valencia (allbeit playing los mickey mouse cupos).
We are pretty thin going into this season, I cant see us not signing another 3 players to be honest. Whos covering at RB, a realise Fabio can or Rafael depending on whos picked for the job but if Evra was injured and the two DaSilvas were playing whos on the bench.
Im not worried like I suppose alot of other teams fans would be because United play a particular way and all work together so even with this squad we would be in with a shout of the league this year but to absolutely make sure we need a few additions.

  389. wayne says:

@willie still a puppy long way from thinking about mortality, older one gets more you understand why some people believe in afterlife and heaven, unforunatley for me i’m much to logical and go with stephen hawkins theories.
just becomes one more year of extra, aches and pains and less chance of getting any young pussy, talk of birthdays made me feel really positive and cheery.lol

  390. Rai says:

Goat – You’re right about Cleverley, he certainly is a good prospect. I think he’ll feature in about 15-20 games, if he performs well then he’ll be giving Carrick and Fletch a run for their money. We’ve got a good young squad but we’ve got a bite about us that I like. The twins, Jones, Vida, Fletch and Wazza are all tough cookies I think that’s going to be vital next season with some of the experienced heads going..

  391. GoatinaUnitedShirt says:

    @wayne
Youre secrets out my friend, so you are a fan of the black hole, the brown star are you. Read up on physics and keen on brownian motion eh? lol

  392. Ash says:

    @Goat
Completely agree with you that we need 2 more players.Having not picked the likes of pogba and morrison and other young guns its clear that Sir alex will sign atleast one player.
We badly need a mid fielder. Its very hard to say but I think it won’t be correct if we still ask Giggs to perform each week.Firstly age is for sure catching on him ,Secondly whether we accept it or not the off field scandals will have some impact on his playing.
Midfielders we now have excluding giggs are-Fletcher,Anderson,Carrick,Park and cleverley.Pogba has an outside chance
THese midfielders named are those who will play as a central midfielder so Park is basically not a central midfielder and cleverley is also not a pure central midfielder so we are left with just 3 midfielders.I think we need to sign atleast one great midfielder if not two.

  393. FletchTHEMAN says:

    from Stretford-end.com

    Preseason tour:
Goalkeepers: Ben Amos, Sam Johnstone, Anders Lindegaard
Defenders: Rafael, Fabio, Patrice Evra, Rio Ferdinand, Nemanja Vidic, Jonny Evans
Midfielders: Michael Carrick, Anderson, Ryan Giggs, Ji-sung Park, Gabriel Obertan, Nani, Ashley Young
Forwards: Mame Biram Diouf, Kiko Macheda, Wayne Rooney, Michael Owen, Dimitar Berbatov

There will be six players joining the tour later having had an extended summer break due to international commitments. They are: Chris Smalling, Danny Welbeck, Tom Cleverley, Chicharito and new signings David de Gea and Phil Jones.

The club have confirmed the squad numbers that the trio of new signings will wear next season: De Gea – 1; Jones – 4; and Young – 18.

  394. Jaandsdad says:

    @ Willierednut

happy belated birthday mate, i think I read you that you were paintballing. Which one did you go to?

  395. willierednut says:

Ash – Agree there mate. Rai said something last night, that i had been thinking about myself. The manager has been quiet since he came back from his holiday. Not like him at all. You usually get a few quotes out of him. I sense, somethings going on behind the scenes, that we are yet to find out. Wouldn’t be surprised if we sign someone in the next few weeks. whether it’s Nasri, or another name?

  396. wayne says:

@Goat not deeply mate watched the series into the universe, just find him fascinating and makes alot of sense.imo, one thing for sure won’t be a guest speaker at any creationist dinners.lol

  397. Dre.FU= Forever United says:

I thought Jones would get the number 6, leaving that number clear for a midfielder, but what ever, anyone think could be another Hargreaves (minus the injuries), able to fill in at the back and dominant in the middle, able to break up play and surge forward type player?

  398. TonyBee says:

    YEAH WILLIE……. Happy Birthday…….

re; paintballing …which one did you paint and what colour is it now….

shouild it now be WILLIEBLUENUT…or WILLIEPURPLENUT

    just asking…….

  399. GoatinaUnitedShirt says:

    @wayne
Spot on there mate by why would he want to champion God, he wasnt that bloody kind to him was he.

  400. willierednut says:

Jaandsdad – Cheers mate. We went to the jungle.

  401. GoatinaUnitedShirt says:

    @wayne
Ive studied Maths and Physics at Uni and specialised in Cosmology so yeah Ive read alot of his stuff amongst many others but never carried it on to become my career. Unfortunately I am a bright lad but also a bit of a party boy and I cant make friends with dullards and social retards. I dont like the stuck up attitude, hence I went into the antiques trade instead, lol.

  402. Jaandsdad says:

    TonyBee

ha ha good one, i was asking a genuine quetion you sicko! Lol

  403. wayne says:

@Goat that’s another thing in this day and age when everything is so shallow, superficial one of the greatest minds of our time being put in such a distorted body, apart from the irony, talk about never judge a book by its cover.

  404. willierednut says:

TonyBee – Let you guess mate lol.

  405. FletchTHEMAN says:

Bit of a shock, Ashley Young our new 18.
I would have given it a rest for a few years. Maybe this is better. Guess it’s just a number to them.

  406. Ash says:

    @Willie
Yeah agree mate.If our transfer season was complete then Sir alex would have said that. But he has not said a thing so we are still probably going to sign one or two players.Remember we were after Varane so we may go for another defender also.Whatever I hope everything is cleared in thsi month so that we will know our squad before our season begin.Don’t want a Berba situation again.

  407. Scott the Red says:

Thanks to Scan74 and other sensible people are here who have tried to be reasonable here.

It’s really disappointing to see people behaving like this on here and it reflects badly on the good posters, the blog itself and essentially, me too.

I am considering disabling the comments. Obviously this is not the road I want to go down and I think it would be detrimental to the blog and the readership, but I’m not having this nonsense on here day after day.

People are of course entitled to different opinions and heated debate is obviously a part of discussing football. But last night was an absolute joke. Swap e-mail address/Twitter and air your arguments there.

I don’t want to disable comments but that is the next step from here, even if on a temporary basis. Now go and enjoy the sunshine and chill out!

  408. willierednut says:

The big dog has spoken! I’m sure they’re listening Scott, but are they hearing? Well said anyway.

  409. King Eric says:

    Afternoon.

Anyone know why the fuck Fletch isn’t in that list please?

  410. King Eric says:

Not before fucking time Scott pal. Well said.

  411. Balaji Sivaraman says:

Well said Scott, we try to avoid it.

I, for the most part, tend to ignore any directed comments towards me because at the end of the day it only increases the confrontational nature of such people and leads to threads like this one.

If I maybe so bold as to say, I am not sure disabling comments will help anyone out because the regulars here definitely tend to get on with things. Most of the discussion is football and United related and even the heated debates are settled amicably among level-headed people. I am not sure how you feel about the OT stuff, but I think you will be fine with them during silly season.

Unfortunately, the recent influx of trolls has been unbearable for many old-timers. We’ve tried our hard to ignore them but sometimes the wind-up is unbearable and one heated response leads to a domino effect which is what you saw here.

Anyways, Thank You for taking the time to respond to this gutter of a thread.

  412. Zelh says:

King Eric – is doing some individual condition training.

  413. Balaji Sivaraman says:

@FletchTheMan, Yeah, football has never been one for jersey number sentiments. If it were like the NBA where we retired jersey numbers, almost all the good numbers for United would’ve been gone for now. Hell, even No. 7 would’ve been retired after George Best because at the time we thought no one will be good enough to replace him. But look at the people we’ve had since then who have worn that great number with pride.

In a sense, this is better than retiring numbers. Like No. 7, we may see the future No. 18, No. 11, No. 2 carry on the legacy from their predecessors.

  414. Costas says:

    @willie

Yeah interesting piece. I don’t know if all those fugures are accurrate, but I think it illustrates an intention to cut down what we pay in wages. And I think that also played a part in Wes and JOS’ sales.

    @King Eric

Hi mate. Yeah, just noticed the Fletcher absence too. Don’t know what that’s all about. I hope he is ok.

  415. willierednut says:

Have to say also, we’re fucking lucky Scott didn’t scrap the comments for a week at least. Stop all the bravado bollox. I didn’t come on here to fight anyone. It’s a big enough blog for everyone to have say.

  416. Clint-IamYourPapii says:

I wrote Nooo earlier because I thought the comments had been disabled.Lets just try and keep things friendly and Peaceful….yeeesh its only a Blog !
    8)

Looks like valencia misses the whole of pre-season.

What King Eric Said Where the hell is Fletch?
He’s not on the official list.
Either he still hasn’t recovered from the illness.
He’s got an injury thats ruled him out.
He’s done a Wes Brown and Had a Bust up with Lord Fergie
    or
He’s involved in a straight swap plus cash deal for Nasri/Modric/Sneijder/Aquilani

  417. RedLion says:

Wish we penned Chicharito for 5 years too..

  418. GoatinaUnitedShirt says:

What happened last night. I wasnt here but Ive had a quick scan and I cant see anything that much out of the ordinary. It did seem to be a long winded rant about forreign fans but some nights have been worse with blatent aimed racism.
As far as I am concerned all are welcome including what the majority would call dubious because it is the whole picture that tells the story not just the elitest selected parts. Foreign, black white brown purple or even Dippers fans, as long as the abuse is kept to a minimum we should enjoy the banter, enjoy the summer and enjoy the world best football blog.

  419. Zelh says:

Fletcher’s abscence shows how bad is form and fitness was after the virus. Looks like I was right, when I said that he only made the bench in the final cause no other CM was available.

  420. Kings says:

Costas – Hello mate. Fletch is staying behind to do more condition work as he is still way off from regaining full fitness. If all goes well he will be available for Scholes testimonial on the 5th August. Here is the link for your perusal: http://menmedia.co.uk/manchestereveningnews/sport/football/manchester_united/s/1426268_darren-fletcher-to-miss-manchester-uniteds-us-tour

  421. willierednut says:

I forgot to say, anyone that disagrees with me, I’ll fight them anywhere they want! :)

  422. Fred says:

Poor Fletch. He was badly missed in the FA Cup semi-final and in the Champions League final.

  423. Costas says:

    @Balaji

I think KE said it best when he mentioned the trolls that started popping up here after the CL Final. They had nothing to contribute other than pick fights with an imaginary clique. That’s what started soiling this place.

  424. Fred says:

RedLion – I’ve heard we ARE drawing up a new, improved contract for El Chicharito. :)

  425. GoatinaUnitedShirt says:

For christ sake, Fletcher couldn’yt put on weight over the summer. Maybe he should stay with me the ammount of ale I chuck down my neck I’ll have him a 19 stoner by next weekend.
Its probably the new fangled scientific method of getting a player into shape and these things cant be rushed for fear of stretching some imaginary muscle that is only used by left handed wankers. What ever happened to the good old fashioned Bryan Robson Guiness and shortbread diet. Or supper as I know it.

  426. Costas says:

I know that names like Sneidjer, Nasri and Modric are linked with us but Fletcher’s absence from the tour, just reinforces my belief that we have to buy a CM in his mould. Because when he is missing, we have no one else like him.

    @Kings

Thanks mate. Hopefully he will be ready for Scholesy’s testimonial. Seeing as we have a game against Arsenal so early in the season, I really hope he gets a few games under his belt until then.

  427. willierednut says:

We’re almost threadbare in CM. Most certainly, someone will be signed.

  428. Balaji Sivaraman says:

@Costas, Yeah, I hope they’ll go away to their hideouts once the season begins.

Regarding Fletcher, the virus has taken its toll on him physically and he looked too thin to be considered health IMO. He definitely needs to bulk up a little bit to regain the same level of physical presence he had before he was hit with that god-forsaken virus. What the hell are our cooks doing anyway? Give him some fat-full diet for God’s sakes. Or give him what Anderson eats, that should do it.

As an aside, anyone have any idea where he caught it from because it is good that the bloody thing did not spread to our other players.

  429. united.george says:

    Hamburgers and Milkshakes Fletch!!

Hell, live with Ando for a week and everything will be back to normal:)

What kind of virus is this where it takes so long to get back to normal? scary.

  430. smartalex says:

    Scott the Red

Thank you for addressing us here among the comments. We appreciate your attendance.

We can all work together to keep RoM alive and healthy.

    Come on United!

  431. GoatinaUnitedShirt says:

Its not just the case of signing a midfielder to replace Scholes surely we should also be bedding in someone to take over the responsibilities that will no doubt be missing next season when/if Giggs calls it a day. Imagine the troop thats going to the US without Giggs in it that will be next years squad and probably with noises that Park may soon call it a day.
    Scares me to bolox.
If I was Sir Alex I would sign both Sneider and Schweinsteiger and I wouldnt give a pixies shite if it cost 70 million plus.

  432. Costas says:

Fletch put on some weight before the 08-09 season in order to bulk up and make his mark. I guess his condition now was worse and wasn’t just about putting on weight.

    @Balaji

What can our cooks do mate? Don’t you remember the stories about Bebe eating Ando’s food? :P That’s why Fletch could only start putting on weight now. Because Bebe is off to Turkey eating his team mates kebabs.

  433. Jaandsdad says:

    Willierednut

one day with a paintball gun and you think your Rambo!
Never been to the jungle paintballing , done the one in Randalstown which was ok but the Predator combat near newcastle is class, airsoft pellets are better i reckon.

  434. GoatinaUnitedShirt says:

This whole virus issue with Fletch reminds me of Lee Sharpes brush with meningitus and we all know what happened to that promising career. If he goes the same way then I really hope this isnt the end of an empire.

  435. willierednut says:

Jaandsdad – Not Rambo mate. More like, dirty Harry lol.

  436. Clint-IamYourPapii says:

Hold your ground, hold your ground! Sons of Gondor, of Rohan, my brothers! I see in your eyes the same fear that would take the heart of me. A day may come when the courage of men fails, when we forsake our friends and break all bonds of fellowship, but it is not this day. An hour of woes and shattered shields, when the age of men comes crashing down! But it is not this day! This day we fight! By all that you hold dear on this good Earth, I bid you *stand, Men of the West!*

  437. smartalex says:

Brilliant Costas! Hope you are well buddy! So bebe has been eating Fletch’s food!

Maybe when we accelerated buying him, having heard about the Virus being after Bebe, it was actually whispered talk of the Bebe virus, that eats its host’s food.

  438. Balaji Sivaraman says:

@Papii, Everytime I read/hear that dialogue, I invariably get goosebumps all over my body. Bloody Brilliant!

@Costas, Ah, so that explains it then. One of the other reasons I hope Bebe makes it is that he is so similar to Evra. He seems like a really funny guy to be around with and will be a great addition to the dressing room if he can make it there.

  439. MG says:

    I have 5 minutes:

Sky Italia are reporting city have signed Nasri for 23 million – This is the following report translated into MG English

The thing is was that really STR?

Good day Reds – till later.

  440. Jaandsdad says:

    Willierednut

    fair enough mate.

  441. Jaandsdad says:

Fletcher must be looking like Old man Steptoe at the minute with all the weight loss, get well soon Fletcherinho

  442. Zelh says:

Diarra left out of pre season squad by madrid.

I hope we don’t sign him.

  443. King Eric says:

Cheers lads. Just seen it on sky about fletcher. “Old man steptoe“ nice one jandsdad.

    Willie. Outside pal.

I have a feeling phil jones will become our midfield destroyer over time and its no coincidence he has been given the four shirt. Leaving smalling and jonny as centre half competition.

Well excited about the season. Lot of weeding out being done and as much as I hate to say it the squad was getting stale. Exciting times ahead. Fletch vida rio rooney carrick and pat are now the seniors with ryan.

    Costas. Hello mate.

  444. scan74 says:

Nice one Scott wise words my friend

you deserve better with all the work you put in pal

    all the best mate

    Scan 74

  445. smartalex says:

King Eric, how are you sir? Strong and happy, I hope.
I saw that you were pulled in by the perviously irritating, and I was saddened by it.
The whole unsavoury affair required careful handling, and did not need me to show anger,
so I withdrew, and applied logic rather than bluster.

  446. dannysoya says:

fletch missing the tour is part of his recovery so i have no problems with that. not like he’s injured or anything.

  447. bchilds says:

Good news but I can’t help thinking was there any need? He was barely 18-months into his contract!

  448. Mr C says:

When I saw 450 odd comments were listed against this Smalling post my first thought was, ‘ wow, Chris is good but I didn’t realise he was that popular’. Then I started readling the through…

Anyway, I’m glad Chris has signed up – there’s definately quality there. With one or two exceptions needed to spice up the mix, there’s much more mileage in bringing in young talent like Chris and inducting them in the United way, as opposed to trying to piece together overpaid bands of merceneries like City and Chelsea.

  449. Zibbie says:

churlish, cool I learned a new word. Thanks wille.

  450. King Eric says:

Smartalex. Hello my pal. Sorry just revisited this thread. Yeah good thanks. Hope you are ok. The new thread has seen the best discussions about United in weeks. Good to see.

  451. kev e says:

@smartalex… good work for not rising to the shit that zibbie was throwing at you. with 500 comments to read to flick through all the abuse is really fucking dull.

@str… you’ll lose a lot of silent readers if you disable the comments…. the reason I come on here is to read the insightful thoughts from guys like Denton, Giles and Balaji. I wouldn’t be visiting to read a four line extract of an interview by Paddy! you just need to block some email addresses from posting…

@everyone… time for everybody who posts abuse and utter shit fuck off!!!!

only 5 weeks of this to go…

  452. Gee says:

    @ Everybody

Ive been coming on this blog for years now, not constantly commenting like some of the regulars (oh and I know who the ORIGINAL posters from day 1 are, does that mean im special!! LOL) but putting my 2 cents worth in to discussions when I felt the need to, e.g. TODAY. BUT over the last 12 months I’ve rarely been posting coz I’m sick of all the bullshit, mard arse arguments about nothing and people saying things like ‘you cant use this term’ and so on and so fourth. Its a blog about Utd and not a blog for little bitches to come on and start fucking crying about bollocks!! If you dont agree with what someone posts fucking ignore it, of course I know disagreemnts happen and if somebody puts you down you react but it doesnt mean everyday has to be turned into a bitching contest, seriously its starting to look like a fucking womens PMT blog instead of a Utd blog!!

STR thank you for commenting on this and putting a warning out about what could happen if it continues, it is a great shame to see the top blog you developed becoming a turn off coz of the bitch shit thats being spouted!!

  453. Axeman says:

Well it looks like Berba may stay after all. Good news if that’s true

  454. Fred says:

How did this geezer post his message in BOLD type? 8O
