Cleverley: I’ve been tearing my hair out

Tom Cleverley doesn’t have a date to return from injury yet and claims it is very frustrating having to watch the action from the sidelines.

“The injury is not bad, I am just working hard with the physios and doing what they tell me at the minute,” Cleverley said. “I am in the gym just working hard really to try and get back fit. We are not looking to put any time limits or set targets just yet. I am just working hard looking after the injury and I am sure we will set targets in a couple of weeks. It’s always frustrating for a footballer to get injured, but when you are in good form and when your team is winning it is doubly frustrating. It has been a bit of tearing my hair out stage for me as I just want to be playing all the time.”

    wee Thomas

Sadly I do not have any more hair to pull out….. I have missed you though, beyond words

  2. philco says:

Shame there’s no date for a return. Get well soon Tom. Looking forward to a great new year.

  3. Ancha says:

he will probably make it by January

  4. akanemo says:

Agree with Cedars there, you have been missed. I wonder how carrick and tom partnership will be :D

  5. Ancha says:

Here are the main updates from the
    manager’ s press conference:
“Berbatov is fit. Rafael is back training. Darron
Gibson got a knock last night [for the Reserves] .
We took him off as a precaution, but he should
    be okay.
“I always enjoy going to QPR. It’ s always a
good atmosphere. We have a good record there
and I hope we can continue that. They’ve done
well – they’ve given themselves a chance of
staying in league by investing. It’ s going to be a
    hard game.
“The medical people have made the right
decision [on Fletcher] . They regarded Darren’s
health as the more important issue and we as a
club agree with that. He’s not been in training -
he’s been in hospital for a few days. He’ll rest
    now. He’ s a loss – he’s such a great professional
and it’s not easy to replace that, but we’ll think
about that. Hopefully he’ll make a full recovery.
It’ s obviously going to take a bit of time and
rest is the most important thing at the moment.
    I can’t put a timescale on it.”

  6. ademiami says:

Lol @ cedars. I am getting there too. Balding isn’t as bad as I thought.

I read in Mirror that Fergie is sure he’ll be back by the 1st week of the new year

  7. rat1p says:

i hoped but never thought young tom could be such a huge factor in our title defense.

  8. Ancha says:

good news is that Berba is fit and the sad part is that SAF may not disturb Wayne/Welbeck pair

  9. Jeet says:

If TomC says he will start thinking of setting targets in 2 weeks time (end of the year), I don’t see him back in the starting xi before Feb… :(

  10. Ancha says:

    jeet

    hey how are you

you are being pessimistic there I’m expecting a return in January :-)

  11. rat1p says:

and for the europa league draw i hope we get salzburg out of the other possibilities

    Trabzonspor
    Ajax
    Porto
    Viktoria Plzen
    Hannover 96
    Legia Warsaw
    Lazio
    Red Bull Salzburg
    Steaua Bucharest
    Wisla Krakow
    Lokomotiv Moscow
    Rubin Kazan
    AZ Alkmaar
    Braga
    Udinese

  12. Costas says:

I’ve been tearing my hair out too. He’s missed 4+ months for an injury that was supposed to keep him out for 1 month. (Not counting his comeback in October since he just aggravated the same injury). Lord knows how costly this incompetence has been.

    Get well soon Tom.

  13. Jeet says:

Doing good, Ancha – how about you? Dunno, man – I just did the math and don’t see him coming in till 3rd week of Jan at best, beginning of Feb, realistically…

  14. smartalex says:

The bald truth is that we’ve all missed Tom Cleverley, particularly Sir Alex. Get well Tom!

Ancha – Thanks for the quotes from the Gaffer’s press-conference. Get well Fletch!

  15. CedarsDevil says:

    ademiami

  17. CedarsDevil says:

Oh wait, meant to say bald not bold! Fuck my typos! No hair on my head, just to explain!

Mind you I can also be bold at times!

  18. Ancha says:

    Smartalex

thanks for the thanks mate, just like you said the other day B-)

  19. smartalex says:

  23. CedarsDevil says:

Been getting stick from a Chelsea supporting mate of mine about the draw today…. Bastard been doing my head in with text messages….

    Ancha

  24. CedarsDevil says:

    Ancha

Get the fuck out! Really happy to hear that news my friend… All the best to you both…

As for the meat, drooling my friend…. Trying to decide whether to have kebabs or a big fucking steak for lunch

  25. Mikekelly12 says:

Here you fucking are. Been over on the Lee Martin thread!!! Bald Cedars, Bald Cedars who the fucks Bald Cedars??! Ha ha, mate the girls love a shiny swede! Mate, a nice fillet steak is the way forward.
King Eric – Keeping my fingers crossed for your new arrival tomorrow.

  26. Mikekelly12 says:

Personally I’d like Hannover. Cheaper than Saltzberg and I used to live there when my dad was in the army.

  27. Costas says:

One reason why I was looking forward to this draw was the prospect of facing a side we’ve rarely faced. With my luck we will probably get Porto…

Salzburg or Hannover will do for me. Less travel and I imagine fun cities to visit.

  28. Ruud says:

Don’t know about you guys but I hope we get Ajax in the next round, I think a higher standard of opponent will better our chances in this competition.

  29. Costas says:

What would you know? Easy opposition for Real and Barcelona…

  30. Mikekelly12 says:

Pooh we could have had revenge over Bayern!! Chelsk v AC Milan, be interesting.

  31. AlphaRS says:

    Champions League Draw….
    Lyon v Apoel
    Napoli v Chelsea
    AC Milan v Arsenal
    Basel v Bayern Munich
    Bayer Levekusen v Barcelona
    CSKA Moscow v Real Madrid
    Zenit v Benfica
    Marseille v Inter Milan

  32. rat1p says:

yeah salzburg is great hope we draw them or hannover
could have been sweet revenge against bayern :(

  33. dela says:

    You have been missed, Clev.

And I’d take any of the Dutch/German sides. As long as wedon’t have to travel much, I don’t care whom weare paired with. Anywhere but Turkey, please.

  34. CedarsDevil says:

    Monkey

Thought the rent boys got Napoli?

  35. Mikekelly12 says:

    Is it Arse v AC?

  36. dela says:

Basel vs Bayern Munich. Sigh. That should have been us.

Ah, fuck it. Bring home the Europa, lads.

  37. CedarsDevil says:

    AlphaRS

What is the Champions League exactly? Never heard of it….

Now bring on the draw for the proper competition! hahaha

  38. jim says:

Italian job for the english teams.

  39. Costas says:

Damn, I wanted revenge on Bayern…

  40. NotoriousRedDevil says:

Good draw both cockneys heading out. Give me alkmar

  41. NotoriousRedDevil says:

Good draw both cockneys heading out. Give me alkmar

  42. rat1p says:

the cl 2009/2010 was just a golden oppurtunity and we missed it cause nobody was at bayerns best player robben when that famous corner kick took place
still a strange feeling cause lyon was dogshit at that time and inter well inter is inter

but lets look forward and win the euro league :D

  43. WillieRedNut says:

    I’m back!

  44. Mikekelly12 says:

    Cedars
Just me fucking it up again!! These bleedin pain killers. Or is it my age. Or is it because I’m stuck in a hospital waiting room? Ha ha. So reading between the lines in the rumour mill today we look set to sigh Tiote and Gaitain! Awesome, guess we’ll just farm Clev, Pogba and Tunni back on loan!!
    Hannover. Bring on Hannover !!

  45. CedarsDevil says:

Napoli have been in fine form this season, cannot see the rent boys getting passed them. Le Arse v Milan should be interesting and would give me the chance to drool all over my self seeing RVP destroying them! hahaha

  46. smartalex says:

Our main broadcaster, who has owned TV football viewing here for ages and shows every game in the World’s top leagues, is only showing the Europa draw on live internet video stream to subscribers.

They show EVERYTHING Manchester United. Love it! Gary Bailey pulling the strings.
Top bloke and legend to me, as a man from Africa at United, and a great keeper. Big fan.

  47. CedarsDevil says:

    Willie

You fuck! Was just about to write asking where you were! Missed you pal

  48. smartalex says:

    He’s back!

    All hail the Nut!

  49. AlphaRS says:

    @CedarsDevil
Yes mate just strange not to be in it at the moment and upsetting to be honest…. :(

  50. NotoriousRedDevil says:

FUCK THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE! Europa Lge is where its at.

  51. CedarsDevil says:

Gary Bailey? fucking loved him, one of the most acrobatic keepers I have ever seen… In total he probably pulled off the best saves over his career than any other. Mind you, we were crap back then!

  52. Mikekelly12 says:

    Willie
    Where you been?

  53. CedarsDevil says:

    Monkey

Just face the facts pal, you’re simply fucked up…. Stop blaming age and pain killers! hahahahaha

  54. WillieRedNut says:

    Cedars smartalex

Good to be back lads! Hope you’re are well? Bayern are lucky boys, they don’t have to face the mighty Man United!

  55. CedarsDevil says:

    AlphaRS

No need to be upset pal. we are the fucking mighty Manchester United and we do not give a fuck

  56. smartalex says:

Gary Bailey: 373 competitive (294 League) appearances for United from !978 to 1987.
He played in 2 European semi-finals and won 2 FA cup medals.

During that time, he completed a BSc in Physics in Manchester. He played for England from 1978 to 1986 and was part of the 1986 world cup squad that made the quarter finals in Mexico.

    Top Red! Top African.

  57. WillieRedNut says:

Mikey – Hello pal? Haven’t been that far away. Always keeping a close eye on the blog mate. ;)

  58. jim says:

Though we miss being in the CL, the viewership and interest in CL will also go down and vice versa for the Europa league. We are the mighty Manchester United, the most supported club in the world.

  59. Costas says:

Who the fuck is willie? :P

Like NOtorious said, bring on the real European competition. The one where Platini doesn’t play favorites!

  60. CedarsDevil says:

    smartalex

Hear hear! Watched him as a pundit on Supersport was it? Had that South African channel last year… What a bloke and red to the fucking core he is ….

Was a bigger pleasure watching him live of course

  61. AlphaRS says:

    @CedarsDevil
We are the Mighty Man United. You got that one right pal.
If it’s a United v City Europa League Final will it be bigger than the Champions League Final?

  62. smartalex says:

We felt your romnipresence WillieRednut, but your romnipotence was missed.

  63. Alom says:

Cleverley’s been thoroughly missed.. hope he gets back on the field soon

  64. CedarsDevil says:

NRD is gone all bonkers, must be all that raw fish!

    Hope you’re well pal

  65. Mikekelly12 says:

    Good lad Willie.
Smartalex – when I was younger we used to go swimming and do sidewards dives into the pool. To this day those dives are still known as Gary Baily’s. Legend!

  66. smartalex says:

CedarsDevil – yes, Supersport is the one, and Super Duper Gary Bailey still fucking rules.

  67. jim says:

    @Alpha
If the CL final is not Real vs Barca then Man United vs City Europa league final might actually be bigger than the Cl final!!

  68. CedarsDevil says:

    AlphaRS

When United had to pull out of the FA cup to play in that pathetic competition in Brazil, the said cup lost its appeal…. The same will happen with the CL this season…

We are the team people want to watch, we are the team that others want to play.

I would bet anything that the Europa will have more viewers this year than the CL

  69. smartalex says:

Great anecdote Mikekelly12! I’ll be swimming shortly, so I’ll practice by Gary Bailey’s!

  70. NotoriousRedDevil says:

Awesome cedars very happy today Will explain later

  71. CedarsDevil says:

    smartalex & Mike

This is for you fellas…. Though we lost badly that day (As we always did back then!) Gary was actually the man of the match

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XTAMsgAdsII

  72. WillieRedNut says:

Costas – Hows it going mate? :)

  73. AlphaRS says:

    @jim and @CedarsDevil
Wouldn’t that be interesting?! A United v City Final getting more viewers than The Champions League Final. It kind of reminds me of the League Cup Semi Final a few years ago when Rooney bagged that last minute winner to knock City out. That game was bigger than the competition itself. I think the same will apply for the Europa League Final if we get there and play City! Ha.

  74. dela says:

Peter Schmeichel on Twitter:I really missed #MUFC in that draw, it felt a bit wierd not being there.

    Couldn’t agree more.

  75. CedarsDevil says:

    NRD

Happy that you’re happy! Cannot wait for the update

  76. Mikekelly12 says:

    Smartalex
Be careful, Gary Bailey’s can give you a right old side slap if performed incorrectly. However, you’ve watched him a few times, follow his technique and you’ll be fine.
    Cedars
Absolutely no doubt in my mind Europa League viewing figures will be greater.
    Jim
“might” be bigger!! Mate, will be 1000000 times bigger!

  77. jim says:

    @Mike
Haha..it will be HUGE!! Manchester United have incredible global appeal. Europa League will benifit a lot by having us in the competition.

  78. Costas says:

    @willie

All’s well mate. I remember looking for your comments after the Fletcher news. Hope everything’s fine.

  79. Saad says:

They’re gonna put Man City’s home game on Tuesday night and United’s on the regular Thursday.

  80. smartalex says:

    Thanks for the video CedarsDevil!

    Mikekelly12, I’ll beware, thanks!

  81. dela says:

    @Cedars

I never got to watch the Greenhoff brothers in action, but I have heard plenty of stories about them. Thanks for the link, mate.

  82. Costas says:

City won’t make it past this round.

  83. CedarsDevil says:

What the fuck with then @ thingies? Can we not address each other with out an @

By the way, for those who watched the video I posted, I apologize for the obvious racist remarks said by Big Ron, just one more reason why I never liked the fat cigar smoking fuck

  84. Saad says:

    Now we know it’s fixed.

    Ajax v United

  85. smartalex says:

    Ajax vs Manchester United

    Come on United!

  86. AlphaRS says:

    Europa League Draw….
    Ajax v Manchester United

  87. jim says:

    Ajax vs Manchester United.

  88. Costas says:

Ajax hey? Feels like the Ch.League already. Does anyone still feel we should play the youngsters?

  89. giggs12gerrard0 says:

    @AlphaRS

Correct mate the league cup semi in 09/10 season was much bigger! Infact it is alongside Barca semi in 2008 the best atmosphere I have ebver witnessed in the ground. Unbelievable.

  90. dela says:

    @Cedars

Sorry about the @. Old habit and all that.

    Oh wait…

  91. smartalex says:

    Come on Rene Muelenstein!
Show your countrymen who the best Dutch coach in the world is!

  92. rat1p says:

i think we should go and try to win this competition—>dont play the youngsters

  93. nabi says:

    ajax….. :)

  94. Gary says:

Wow, if you didn’t know any better after the first two draws you could be forgiven for thinking it was the champions league draw. Lets just not watch the rest of the draw and pretend we’re still in it yea?

  95. CedarsDevil says:

    dela

Pleasure pal…. Mind you both did play for them sheep shaggers. Brian after he left us and Jimmy before he joined us….. Both legends in my eyes though

  96. WillieRedNut says:

I was hoping for Ajax! Great draw. Limits the travel, we’ll have to do. City got Porto.

  97. Jeet says:

@Ancha: very happy to hear that you are back together! Brilliant news – and all my very best to both of you!

  98. Saad says:

The good thing is we won’t have to travel far.

  99. Costas says:

    @Saad

Crossed my mind too. Got the toughest team out of the bunch while the chances of that where 1/14….

Nonetheless, I think we’ve very rarely faced Ajax, so it’s an intiguing tie.

  100. giggs12gerrard0 says:

    @Costas

Yes mate we should definately play a mix of players who need games and throw some youngsters in.

My team injury free would be the likes of

Lindy, Fab, Smalling, Evans, Fryers, Tony V (needs games), Pogba or Morrison, Gibson, Park, Wellbeck, Macheda

  101. smartalex says:

Who wants to play against unheard of teams, when a European Superpower is available.
History, gentleman, of which United and Ajax are a big part. A great tie!

  102. dela says:

    Cedars

Oh well, so did King Eric. A legend is a legend, sheep shagger or not.

  103. Saad says:

Someone said in another thread it gives us a chance to check out Eriksen. Dont they have a full-back we’re also interested in? Jetro something? Or is he in PSV?

  104. Saad says:

    @smartalex

Agreed. Let’s turn on the style.

  105. CedarsDevil says:

    dela

Indeed my friend, mind you both brothers were Leeds fans as well!!

  106. Jeet says:

@giggs12gerrard0: pretty much spot on with that lineup I guess except that I would rather have The Berb instead of Welbeck. I just miss watching the man in action. I felt he was class against Benfica.

  107. WillieRedNut says:

King Eric – Hope you read this pal. Good luck to you and Ruth mate. Lets hope you bring good news back to the blog about your little ray of sunshine! Another Red brought into this world, is a blessing.

  108. Saad says:

Mind you, Ajax will be cursing their luck!

  109. Jeet says:

I asked this question earlier as part of a VERY long rant, hence didn’t get an answer. Dont players get cuptied by playing the Europa League? In other words, is Erickson even a possibility?

  110. Saad says:

Who wants to place bets that the winner of Shitey-Porto get the winner of United-Ajax?

  111. Jeet says:

Echoing Willie – all the best to KE and family!

  112. dazbomber says:

I think there will be a lot of lads going there sight seeing if you know what i mean , nudge nudge wink wink .

  113. CedarsDevil says:

    Willie

Having you on this blog is a blessing pal…..

Now, can anyone post the full draw or at least a link to it? Cheers

  114. CedarsDevil says:

    dazbomber

Surely you are not referring to the red light district or them hash cafes? Hint hint wink wink

  115. rat1p says:

Lindy, Fab, Smalling, Evans, Fryers, Tony V (needs games), Pogba or Morrison, Gibson, Park, Wellbeck, Macheda

will be tough to win with this lineup just saying

  116. Jeet says:

@dazbomber: I know, best place in the world for a lad’s party if you ask me (maybe Vegas comes close), but sadly the coffeeshops are on their way out….new legislature proposes to ban the sale to foreigners, basically, anybody who does not take a coffeeshop “membership”. Been there twice, and had some of the best time in my life :)

  117. Saad says:

Winner of United-Ajax play winner of Lokomotiv Moscow-Bilbao

  118. smartalex says:

Should we beat Ajax, we play at home to the winners of Lokomotiv/Atletic Club in the next round first leg.

  119. Mikekelly12 says:

    Cedars
Top video mate, cheers! Some quality goals too not least Albions second!! Just got out the hospital. AJAX!!!! Get the fuck in!!! Followed by Hannover please!!

  120. jim says:

Man Utd vs Locomotive/ Athletic Bilbao.

  121. CedarsDevil says:

How many teams are in this draw? 350? Fucks sake

  122. Quantum says:

Beat Ajax and we could be playing Athletic Bilbao. Full draw:
    http://www.uefa.com/uefaeuropaleague/season=2012/draws/index.html

  123. smartalex says:

Saad, It will be a football fiesta of technical brilliance. Skill on show.

  124. CedarsDevil says:

    Mike

Fuck the footy, how is the foot? (I can be a genius with words at times! hahaha)

Seriously though pal, how are things with that ankle?

  125. WillieRedNut says:

If we get passed Ajax, we can scout Eriksen. Hoping Bilbao win their game. We can then scout Martinez! Is Fergie doing the draw? Lol. Rather go to Spain anyway.

  126. smartalex says:

    There’s a genius afoot!

  127. dazbomber says:

CedarsDevil- I don’t know what you ha ha

  128. dazbomber says:

Jeet- I lived there for a few months when I was 21 with a few of my mates, best time of my life.

  129. CedarsDevil says:

    dazbomber

Think there is a word missing from your post pal! hahahaha Must be suffering from the ‘Cedars typo syndrome’

Off for my medical…….. laters you fucking red beauties

  130. Gary says:

Yea that is ture in terms of having a closer look at Christian Eriksen, still only 19 and very gifted, definitely has the potential to make it as a major player in Europe but it doesn’t always turn out that way. He turned down a move to Man City in the summer so I already like him.

  131. Costas says:

    @Giggs12

Hope I am wrong, but like rat1 said, I don’t see that line up going far. We’ll see. If we are out of the FA cup by then, it should make things more straight forward in terms of our team selection.

  132. MG says:

Now I’ve come home from school for lunch at me mums

I can’t find United in the CL draw

    What am I missing?

Afternoon United have to go back to teaching the youth of tomorrow…

    ;)

  133. jayunited says:

congratulations channel 5…thumbs up smartalex and cedars, love hearing from.always positive and supportive of anything manchester united…bring on ajax and lets win the europa league…if we are schedule to play on tuesdays,am i the only one thinking that gves us enough rest ahaed of our epl matches instead of thursdays?

  134. Lebo Manc says:

Get well soon tom clevz… We need a very good midfield for the upcoming games, especially that we will face Ajax, city… All in just the upcoming months so there’s no time for injuries

  135. NotoriousRedDevil says:

Ajax too sweet give me some of that sticky icky icky oooh weee! Put in the air

  136. WillieRedNut says:

The RB at Ajax, who’s name escapes me, is one to watch too. I know United have been linked with him in the past.

  137. jim says:

    Willie
    Van der wiel??

  138. Costas says:

Not a lot of United players make their European debut in the Europa League nowdays. Tom will have that distinction by the look of things..

  139. smartalex says:

jayunited – Thumbs up back at you, and humble thanks for your recognition.
There’s so much to be positive about, aside from the grief we feel for our side-lined heroes.
    Get proper well, lads!

  140. WillieRedNut says:

    Jim – That’s him mate. :)

  141. zelh says:

    So we have Ajax.
Good for our reserve to go there and play some football.

  142. jay says:

I guess we will definitely have to play our best. Both Manchester Clubs have tough draws Porto won this last year so will want to retain it.

  143. zelh says:

I hope we don’t play a strong side. the faster we are out of the cup the better.
we should concentrate on the league and not risk even more injuries of key players in a competition that nobody’s interested in.

  144. kevin says:

@smartalex,are you from South Africa or Africa? You seem to know Gary Bailey well from Supersport. I am from Kenya. That is where we get our matches from. Gary is always fighting our corner.

  145. 16Legend says:

great draw…. get a look in (+ bid, maybe) on eriksen, van der weil…. would be awesome buys… they are awesome on fm 2012 :-)

  146. ahjs says:

    “So we have Ajax.
Good for our reserve to go there and play some football.”

Better if our senior players go and remember, or in some cases learn, how to win against European opposition.

I was born in Nairobi, and now live in KwaZulu-Natal, so good analysis!

I’ve known Gary Bailey since he joined United in 1978. Over the last 20 odd years he has been Supersport’s main football anchor. Lucky me!

  148. zelh says:

ahjs – our senior players fuckin bottled it. now let the reserve get the chance to prove themselves.

  149. Costas says:

I hope that by February 16th the EL isn’t our only goal left this season. Because in that case, we’ll have to play our best team whether we want to or not.

  150. smartalex says:

Most clubs in Europe will only dream of the heady heights of winning the Europa League. It would be churlish and vain for us to consider it in any other light than a serious opportunity to win a major trophy. We don’t value it as highly as the Premiership, but no competition is as important to United as the League.

We’re in it to win it.

  151. smartalex says:

Every year sir Alex tries to blood youth in Europe. It teaches, rewards and invigorates them, while assessing their progress.

Clearly, the Europa League will be no different. Always a team selected to win, consisting of experience and exuberance. Every player at United is nurtured while Sir Alex is winning trophies.

“ahjs – our senior players fuckin bottled it. now let the reserve get the chance to prove themselves.”

But not many of our seniors are seasoned European performers. Guys like De Gea, Brazilians, Evans, Jones, Smalling, Cleverley, Anderson, Young, Valencia, Hernandez, Welbeck etc need experience. The team was way off the pace in Europe this year.

    @Jeet

Of coutrse mate I forgpt about the Berb and 100% should play every game availble if he is not gettnig prem league games. Cnat believe he has not featured more than he has in the league. Against Newcastle at home we would have won with on.

    @Costa and Rat1

Lads agree with you both and my selection is built on exposure rather than success we should use this time to blood and if we go out tehn so be it.

  154. zelh says:

ahjs – and they learned their lesson. we can’t risk our first team in that joke of a competition.

Flights booked, landing on the 16th Feb at 16:20-sleazyjet comes through like a beaut- see you at Schipol Reds.

    Fucking loving the Europcar league.

  156. kevin says:

    Smartalex,am in Mombasa,Kenya. Nice to know you …imaginery handshake…
Am glad we got Ajax as it would mean that we focus just like the beginning of the season

  157. ironhearts says:

@zelh are you kidding?,giving up on a competition without a fight is not manchester united’s policy..dont disrespect the club if you are a so called united fan.

  158. smartalex says:

kevin, nice grip! Pleased to know you, buddy!

My parents honeymooned in Mombassa in 1961, beautiful! They recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary, so are still United. Thank your forebears for their part in my parent’s harmony!

  159. StatesideAussie says:

King Eric … good luck with your big day, man!
    Willie … welcome back.
It’s mid December now and TC says they are a couple of weeks away from setting a target date, so they won’t even do that until the end of the year. Doesn’t sound good.
Zelh: The Europa league may be a joke of a competition, but we’re in it (because, frankly, we deserve to be) , and if we fail to do well, then the joke’s on us, pal. if we want to make the point that this competition is beneath us, the best way is to prove it by deed — for us to go out there and win the bloody thing.

  160. kevin says:

welcome. Congratulations to your parents, am waiting to do mine may be 2013. I hope the treble will go before that.
Am at a boring company end of year party.

  161. daemondada says:

    Hi y’all,

couldn’t have asked for a better draw.four time ucl winners versus three times for us.Deffo a classy euro fixture.Sure beats the city porto tie for attraction.
Lets take things one @ a time this time round.had a hunch we would be getting Udinese.that would have bn quite a bother!
Saf seems not to be interested in the Jan window rather I hear him bigging up our youngsters.Way to go if u asked me.
Have a wonderful holiday season everyone!
    UTD ALWAYS ON TOP!!!

  162. smartalex says:

kevin, there are several other United fans there too, introduce one to RoM.

  163. ahjs says:

“and they learned their lesson. we can’t risk our first team in that joke of a competition.”

Real Madrid, Ajax, Liverpool etc have all won it in years gone by. In recent years Milan, Porto and Juve and more have taken it pretty seriously. The arrogance of United and English fans to anything outside the top four premier league clubs astounds and disappoints me sometimes.

  164. WillieRedNut says:

    StatesideAussie – Cheers mate!

  165. Captain Park says:

Cedars, going back to that match between us and WBA, I thought West Bron were terrific that day. I remember back then they used to do very well against us most of the time and we got beat big time by them on quite a few occasions.

  166. King Eric says:

Willie, Ancha, Stateside, Jeet, Mike etc. Thanks alot lads. Much appreciated.

Great draw. If wouldnt be so skint from the new arrival would have loved a trip to Holland and furthermore Dam. Top place.

Good to see Barca get a bye into next round.

    I wanna win this cup.

    Hurry up back Tom lad.

A mate told me earlier that Fergie said he isnt looking to panic buy in Jan UNLESS its a player he has already identified. Hhhm. Interesting.

Kudos to Pogba. I have slated him a tad of late but he was outstanding last night. Stromg as an ox, cant be bullied off ball. Eyes in back of his swede. Both footed and what a fucking strike. Great Scholesesq ball over the top for Keane. Keeps this form up and he will be getting games soon. Admittedly the vermin were down to ten men but our lads ripped them to shreds last night.

  167. CedarsDevil says:

    Captain Park

Sorry for the late response pal, ya West Brom were top notch that day… One of the few reasons why we eventually got Big Ron at United…. Mind you getting beat in those days was a very regular thing!

  168. Busby says:

So gutted for Tom. He worked so hard and really paid his dues… league 1, coca cola championship, premership relegation dogfight all the way to Manchester United. From no hoper fullback to one of Europe’s most promising midfielders….a truly inspired tale of a boy never willing to give up and always willing to learn. He must have looked forward to playing in the Champions League for so long…to announce himself like Gareth Bale did. Unfortunately he didn’t even play one minute of Champions League football.

  169. NBI Red Onion says:

Fletch in hospital for a few days – not sound good. Hope the lad is ok soon.

  170. NBI Red Onion says:

Berbatov and Gibson r not playing at QPR.
