Cleverley Out For Four Weeks

Tom Cleverley has been ruled out for four weeks following a poor challenge from Kevin Davies in United’s 5-0 win over Bolton yesterday.

Thankfully, the youngster who has claimed his starting position for the club, has not broken his foot as first feared, but suffered ligament damage.

This means that whilst Tom will miss our games against Chelsea and Leeds, he may make it back in time for Anfield.

Lucky lad Davies. I was just about to ask Tony, Sil, and Paulie to check you out.

Davies you punk! get well TC!

  4. soren says:

I’m happy for Tom has not broken his foot, wonderful player. :)

  5. Balaji Sivaraman says:

Willie, Don’t worry I am sure our good friend Agent of Fergie Cyril Sneer will take care of that rat bastard.

Considering the situation looked bleak yesterday, this is most definitely good news for what it is worth. Even though it is highly unlikely, he could be back for the back to back against Pool and City.

  6. orez says:

Happy to hear that there is nothing broken, but man 4 weeks is still a long time.

  7. smartalex says:

Better diagnosis than initially feared. Get completely well soon Tom!

Surely the tackle should be reviewed and Davies punished for what was clearly an attempt to break our midfielder’s leg. There is absolutely no way that it can be honestly or accurately claimed that the ball was the object of this rash challenge. Illegal and unwarranted, the video evidence convicts Bolton’s thug of a captain incontrovertibly.

  8. CK says:

FOUR WEEKS… WE ‘LL C HIM AGAINST CHELSEA NEXT WEEK AND YA LL C.. :)

  9. NBI Red Onion says:

That’s a HUGE boost – now we get to see what the kid can do – exciting ! Davis is still a fucking twat, no let off for that shit and the FA need to f-ing get real pressure to ban the shit the way they banned Rio for 4 f-in games – MINIMUM.

    Man Utd official site:

“Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed that Tom Cleverley will spend the next four weeks on the sidelines after limping out of United’s win at Bolton on Saturday.

It was feared the midfielder, who has started the campaign in fine form, had broken a bone in his foot after feeling the full force of a Kevin Davies tackle just before Javier Hernandez’s opener at the Reebok.

But the boss told ManUtd.com on Sunday that Cleverley has suffered ligament damage to his foot rather than a fracture.

The manager also said the club’s medical team would assess second half knocks to Patrice Evra and Jonny Evans, ahead of the Reds’ Champions League opening group game against Benfica in Lisbon.”

  10. Costas says:

Yep. Could be back for Pool and City. He shouldn’t be missing games in the first place though.

  11. Whiteside says:

It seems like we have had loads of injuries already, we have coped very well with them as we have such an amazing squad but lets see how the bitters get on once they lost both first choice centre backs and others.

  12. The truth says:

Good news, I expected him to be out for much longer. I hope when he does recovery, he continues making excellent progress. I dont want this injury to sideline him for longer than 4 weeks. He is an important part of the team now.

Regarding Kevin Davies, well what can i say that hasnt been already said in the past posts? He is a reckless stupid player. That tackle was unnecessary. When stats show that he regularly gets more yellow cards than most defenders and DM you have to wonder about his influence in the game. Is he played to injury opponent or actually score? He fouls more than he scores. What a talentless coward.

  13. Balaji Sivaraman says:

@smartalex, Exactly. And he has provided his own statement of confession before the match when he stated he was out to get the United players. Fucking twat!

  14. Zibbie says:

Yes, Mrs MG, the MD said it yesterday!!!

Davies dishs it out every game but alot of times gets away with it,beginning to think he’s a fucking hypnotist, half his season should be spent suspended.

  19. wayne says:

Mind you a player with skills as a hypnotist would have advantages, wonder if that’s in the rule book.

  20. smartalex says:

Thanks Zibbie! I’ll pass on your relief to Bart!

funny how Ando slips under the radar for most pundits, as much as Rooney and co(forward palyers) have stepped up, Ando has come in leaps and bounds. the guy looks immense this year. The freekick he took against Bolton was simply class. The boy has put me on a steady diet of sweet delicious humble pie. I fucking love the taste of it.

  33. Balaji Sivaraman says:

@slim, Not to mention his long range passing has come on leaps and bounds. Some of his passes to pick out Nani and Young on either side was simply out of this world. He is constantly improving all the time. People are not making enough noise about how Ando’s meteoric rise has coincided with Scholesy’s retirement. The departure of the legend seems to have beaten some sense into Ando that it is time for him to step up which is exactly what he’s doing.

  34. WillieRedNut says:

Always had faith in Anderson, when some were ready to write him off. All he needed was the games. Keep it going Ando!

@Zibbie completely agree with you man. STR’s message of rivalry is being misunderstood by the young masses, which is stupid if you ask me. Just tired of correcting this fake haters.

Kenny Daglish hasn’t said and done much disrespecting stuff towards us and he comes up as a decent human, but some fans through insults at the man.
Davis is a rough player, but shit happens unless all you forgot that Evans put out of commission that Holden ( Bolton’s American player) for like 6 months. Yes Evans was sent of and Davis got away with it, but it’s not his fault that the ref is incompetent.

The quality of the comments on this blog is very immature I got to say.

  42. Sandeep1878 says:

  43. Zibbie says:

@smartalex, nice. Get well soon lad. We have the next 12 years of TC to root for.
@balaji, I made reference to how Anderson and Nani and every one from Fletch on down were at the School of Scholesy for that length of time.
Anderson had tutoring seasons as well after school.
Nani and Anderson have been taking notes.
Nani is awesome and this is an observation, if he and Rooney ever get on the same page as they are with other teammates, Man Utd would be unstoppable.

  45. Zibbie says:

1878, hello and good day, I feel bad I said before the game how much I like the physical play of Davies. Now this, a young Red on the rise cut down by a late tackle. Fuck it does suck and I agree with your sentiment and for a women to use the word CUNT! It is heart felt I’am sure.

How about ANDERSON!!!!!!!!!!! Magic in his left foot!!!

  46. Zibbie says:

Dempsey has turned into a proper PL player. It makes me proud as an American football fan.
    Come on Fullam!

  47. FletchTHEMAN says:

@orez. I take your point. It is a rough game and choir boy Davies never looks the thug. But equating Davies, who can only be compared with Lee Bowyer in the number of decent players put on a streacher, with Evans is grossly unfair on our lad.

  48. Pavan says:

The main bone of contention with Kevin Davies is that he does not have the sense to go and apologise, which Evans did even though he never even close to meant that to come out so, whereas Davis well…..

He should have apologized and that would pretty much have been the end of it, but he did not. That’s a worse thing than the tackle itself.

  49. smartalex says:

    @orez

Further to FletchTHEMAN’s point, it is ludicrous to compare a 50/50 collision of 2 players (Evans and Holden) who both went for the ball in EXACTLY the same way, to the deliberate hacking down of Cleverley by Davies in a tackle that could not ever win the ball.

Not ever win the ball. Not ever!

  50. NBI Red Onion says:

@ Sandeep – stat for you – Rooney first United player to score back-to-back hat-tricks in the league since Alex Dawson in 1960.

  51. #07 says:

    @Orez

Ridiculous comment. Prior to the game Davies was talking up how he wanted to give certain players a going over. He went onto that pitch intending to do harm. As the good book says you know them by their fruits. Instead of giving Phil Jones a “going over” as he promised to Davies instead chose to target the two smallest United players: Evra and Cleverley. Why? He was in the full back positions enough as shown by his repeated attempts to try and bully Evra? Could it be that Davies only picks on those smaller than himself? That’s why I don’t like him.

Evans and indeed many United players across the years haven’t been against the full blooded tackle many have lived for it but they give it and take it in equal measure. Evans and Holden went flying in on each other and it was only by luck that Evans ended up being the uninjured one. You don’t see United players going in hard on small lads and chickening out of doing it to the big boys. Davies didn’t even want any of Rio yesterday! Davies is 34 he’s played against us for Southampton, Blackburn and Bolton. In that time how many times did he step up to Stam, Keano or Vida? Its always a little guy with Davies why doesn’t he square up to someone his own size? Then he goes on running his mouth acting like a hardman. Nothing more than a centre forward version of “Razor” Ruddock: An average player who tries to compensate for his lack of skill by throwing his weight about at better players.

  52. Zibbie says:

Fletch and Smartalex giving proper perspective on a bad situation.

Back at Davies, he probably more geneological link to Jack the Ripper than our lad Evans. Just sayin.

I was not around for the love of the 90′s. Seen this team develop gives enlightenment of the lament of the fan of the 90′s style of play VS the style of play of 2002 on what I have experienced.

  64. Zibbie says:

LOL my bad Slim, I spit right into a 32 MPH wind there.

  65. orez says:

@07 that’s a very subjective point. I don’t know the history of Davis and don’t even need to. He is journeyman player, who will always be that way, but there is nothing wrong of roughing up the opposition. You don’t know what he was thinking. Calling Evans tackle and unlucky and Davis’s as malicious is just biased. Nobody knows twhat Evans or Davis were thinking. Both resulted in an injury of the other player. If Evan’s tackle was just an accident he wouldn’t get red card. In any way this kind of behavior reminds of Arse behavior when we bit them and ended their run, so many years ago. Henry was shocked that we were so rough with them, but fuck them that was a great game. It’s like you guys expect all our opponents to just watch our game and get the hell of our way. Davis didn’t want to do it and he went for our midfield controller. Getting 100 yellow cards I doubt you can do it only against “small” players. One more thing there are no “small” players in our team, none of them afraid of rough play and that’s how it should be. Also are you guys saying that our players never go for cynical tackles? We do and everyone does. We should all man up and take it like it is.

Last thing. Davis is their fucking captain and he needed to lead by example. That bastard never get’s injured and he keeps playing the same way. I was as unhappy that Cleverley went down and really hoped for quick recovery, but that’s for you EPL and there are teams who do it.

  66. Zibbie says:

I dont mean to sound like a pessimist but I think ligament damages are worse than broken bones. Bones can heal completely and be as good as new, only that it takes longer. Ligament damages makes the area more susceptible for damage in the future. I just hope Tom’s a strong healer.

  68. Zibbie says:

@orez well stated. with out calling someone stupid, a fine debate without personal attack.
I love the physical part of the PL.

  69. smartalex says:

    orez

Perhaps you should watch footage of both incidents again.

They are incomparable, and it is your view that seems ridiculously biased, not #07′s.

Please link videos of the 2 tackles that show them to be similar.

  70. slim says:

    @orez

you’e a stronger man(or woman) than i am. no way could i have a philosophical view of what happened yesterday, especially after the mug made a point of announcing to the whole world he intended to rough players up. Hats off to you mate

  71. RedDevil4Lyfe says:

fuck davies he is a lowlife thug cunt..

He is not a proper footballer and i want him to break his legs and retire from football – the game wont miss much at all. Just be glad to be done with a thug.

Dont compare his crap tackles to evans. Davies went in from the back – no intention of getting the ball. He did the same on evra. prick – hope he breaks his metatarsel – ruptures his acchillies tendon and rips his hamstring – all at once.. oh yea and busts his kneee cap too

  72. slim says:

    @Zibbie

  73. Jesmonta says:

Get well soon Tom. I wish you a very fast return. With this year`s game plan, Carrick was struggling to keep pace with the rest yesterday. Tom fitted well with this plan already, that is why we will miss him.
My concern always was why we did not get another classy midfielder when the market was open. Remember this is only the start of the season, come December and we will see what will happen. A month since the season started and we already had – Vidic , Rio , Rafael , Cleverley and Welbeck , Injured

  74. Zibbie says:

Saad, I have had surgery 2xs for ankle ligament damage and a cast for 4 weeks on the other.
It can be worse if pushed, Like Rooney did after the semis in the CL against BM. He hurt it 3 more times and it took until January of the next year to heal proper. HUM when he started playing better. They are similar to rubber bands with a difference they can be stretch to a dis-formed shape with out breaking. And taking time to mend themselves back into shape.

  75. Clint-iamyourpapii says:

Can’t describe my relief at reading 4 weeks out and not out till the new year.

A few months back in April, TC meant nothing to me, just another talented youth on loan that hasn;t played yet for us. Then a few friendly appearances and after 4 league appearances, I have this feeling of attachment to seeing Clevs regularly and the thought of him losing his opportunity at United through injury left me fuming plus that cunt does that kinda crap maliciosly all the time.

I love Clevs now, even if he makes mistakes or has a bad run of games,he like others has always got my support. My relief in indescribeable, a similar relieved moment is when we finally saw Tony after his injury ripping apart A.Cole. Im glad the lad will be out only 4 weeks and is likely to be playing week in week out in around 6 weeks.

Time for Fletch, Carrick, Ando & Giggsy to shine. Bring on Benfica !

Ray Wilkins was just asked his thoughts on the 2 Manchester clubs and didn’t answer the question by straight away talking about Chelsea and how Man Utd will be up against a proper defence for the first time this season next sunday. Ray is a deluded fool if he thinks Chelsea have a chance of winning the title this season. They don’t have one striker in form, Drogba out of sorts, injured and seen better days, Anelka the same, Strurridge a prospect and Torres just absolutely hopeless. The driving force of their recent success Essien basically finished and Lampard only getting worse, I would apply the same to Terry though he was never world class in the first place. I want to see what that tit head has to say when Chelsea are blown out the water next Sunday. Why you have to respect Chelsea I certainly don’t see them as our main challengers this season not by a long way.

Above is Davies Tackle on Cleverly

I’ve watched them both several times. No way are they similar. For a start Cleverly can’t even see Davies coming. Whereas Evans and Holden were both in each others vision.

Not the first time Davies and Bolton for that matter have done this sort of thing to us. Remember Evra a few years back. Ridiculous how Davies never got sent off. Also I’m still seething of what they did to G Nev in 2007. Yes he may have come back but he was arguably at his best ever that season and we never got to see it again.

Cleverly is now out of contention for 7 matches! With our medical teams track record could be more. Took more than the gloss off the win for me. He’s been a breath of fresh air this season.

Zibbie You know anything about Knee ligament damage ? I’ve been out of training 25 days today but still little pains in my knee. Dunno when to start training or gym work?

———————— My Team for Benfica ————
    De Gea
    Smalling Rio Jones Evra/ Fabio
    Nani Carrick Giggs Park
    Berba Chico

Valencia could start but its better to save him for the Leeds match, Young needs a bench game – he should come on for his debut around 60 mins to fresh up team. Rooney could do a sub role with Berba needing some gametime and Chico needing regain fitness. Ando should be saved for Chelsea but maybe coming off the bench will keep up his high confidence.

When Vida back? Wasn’t he pencilled in for Chelski ?

  82. Sparkz says:

Talk about a relief, I really did fear the worst!

Luckily there’s a 2 week international break in early October, so we don’t have any games there. On top of that….I don’t think he’d have played against Benfica anyway (Fergie said the away matches in Europe are for the experienced players)..and probably wouldn’t have played in the Carling Cup vs Leeds either. So all in all, probably the best news we could’ve hoped for. Hoping he might make the bench for Anfield ( wouldn’t really want him to start in a game like that when he’s just coming back from injury.)

Fletch is coming back just in time tbf, I’ve a feeling we’ll see him get an hour alongside Carrick in midweek- and then possibly start in a 3 man midfield with Carrick and Anderson vs Chelsea?

Slim, thanks for the thought! Fine. The US of A has few scars from a foreign enemy, not like the UK. Most think we are invulnerable. Was a shocking event 10 years past. As form this forum you see I take a different approach then most. When Iran was over through en. And they held American prisoners in 1978. In my world history class some 5 days after it happened, I asked why do they burn our flag? Why do they burn in effigy our President? Why and where does that type of hate come from.
Indoctrination, of a fanatical nature when a person imposes their view on others for the sake of that person, leads to a primal response of fight or flight. In this physiological state of mind, a person can and does not think. We only react. Run or Attack?

John Cunterry was never a world class because in his prime he was always flat on his face against Saha, Eto’o, Ronaldinho, Diego Milito, Crouch, Luis Garcia, Rooney etc Now he is terrible because he’s lost his speed, bad decision making and among blues fans usually the guy next to him is the better defender ( Alex, Carvalho, Ivanovic,Gallas) but he’s a better leader.

  93. Emyoueffsee says:

Anyone got a Match of the day link people?

  94. Zibbie says:

Papii there is a test, you see the trainer hold the joint in question and put opposing presser from both sides to feel the tinsel strength of the ligament. I worried and taped it well and in that moment of a quick decisive move, it holds up. A gut feeling Papii. Test the knee like that physio way. then put pressure in small increments until you know your fine.

  95. orez says:

@Zibbie why insult a fellow red? No need for it, just difference in opinions.

@slim comes with age friend. I am 30 so may be not there yet, but you tend to look differently at things.

@scan74 exactly my point “rough up” not “injure”. I really love EPL because of different way the teams play and I appreciate different challenges that teams like Stock and Bolton through at us. The players with limited talents and that’s why then need to stretch the rulebook.

I guess we will be with Carrick against rent boys. I am not too worried about Benfica, but those cunts are different story. Torres hasn’t scored for a while and their new manager hasn’t put a stamp on his arrival. Everything is set very dangerously, if you know what I mean. We started great though and our pace has been excellent. Carrick is a worry but may be we need a little more defensive approach against them. I hope to see Valencia, Fletch, Fabio and Berba against Benfica. They need some game time.

  96. WillieRedNut says:

Fucking cryptic there JayUnited? Need the Black Frank White to solve that puzzle.

  100. orez says:

  103. jayunited says:

    lol@zibbie,yeah texting slang,you’re spot on

  104. scan74 says:

    @Orez mate

i know what your saying but yesterday was one of the occasions i felt Davies was looking to fucking knacker one of our boys as soon as I saw his comments i wondered how long before his best 58 cup final impression on DDG

sadly it was tommy c on the end of a poor challenge and the evra challenge was a fucking disgrace i dont mind physical players !!full blooded challenges etc but i felt Davies was going past that yesterday

its a fine line but i felt he crossed it with his attitude yesterday

  105. TonyBee says:

if your going to use text slang … swear for fucks sake …

so us older bastards can fucking understand you young cunts….

is it laziness or fucking trendy to put FFS or roflmao or LO fucking L….

  106. TonyBee says:

and forgetting good news on TC foot not being broken….

  107. WillieRedNut says:

I don’t mind hard challenges going in, if the intention is to play man and ball. That’s part of the game. Davies did not do that yesterday. He took Tom out. Not saying he went out to hurt Tom, but still. It was reckless at best. To not even receive a Yellow card was bemusing. If the ref books Davies there and then, that sets a precedent. As it was, he then takes out Evra. Cunt.

  108. MyCowIsTheBest says:

Great! This is a good news indeed!

  109. Zibbie says:

Now Wolfie knows how to call a person a proper cunt. Everyone take notice. hehe.

Wee Wes on Inters bench, the gaffer is playing a 3-4-3.

  113. Zibbie says:

    JC got it.

  114. Tonka Norris says:

If it was Roo who did it to one of theirs the press would be chocked full of it. By now they’d be talking up the length of the ban. On Monday the FA would send out the paperwork like it was automatic and routine.

This is the bit that drives me crazy.

Someone above compared Davies challenge to Evans on Holden; I’d offer this perspective: if Evans had got away with it, would he have likely pulled the same challenge 60 mins later? Or are we surprised that Davies went on to rearrange Evra’s leg? The answer to both, I suggest, is “no”.

  115. King Eric says:

Orez. Davies is a fat dirty cheating cunt. And I am some young fan as you put it , I am thirty seven. Evans and holden was a fifty fifty simple as that. Why worry about Carrick? He was one of our best players against them in all four games. Infact five as he was in a two man midfield with scholes in the charity shield.

Gary. Spot on. We will take those cunts to the cleaners again next week.

Sparks. Alright pal. Last season we played two man centre midfield with rooney dropping back. Can’t see us changing. It will be anderson and fletch or carrick imo.

Scott. No quick responses to the game mate?

  116. MG says:

    Anyways

he’s chasing that pot of gold hoping for a better day

  125. Zibbie says:

I have grapes I press at a friends winery, not bad, but not great a fun thing to do. I have done home brewed beer now for some 10 years not that is some good shit man. I have an old Indian friend who makes white lightning as good as almost anything I have tried. It is like 180 proof and smooth. That reminds me of grain alcohol and Jungle Juice to get girls drunk.

  126. CedarsDevil says:

I found some posts here quite educational on the art of maturing as a human being. Being in my mid fucking 40′s I now know that calling Davies a cunt is childish and I should resort to being fucking philosophical about the whole fucking thing…

Perhaps I am a late bloomer, I could start to mature and learn in my fucking 60′s…

  127. smartalex says:

The afrikaaner makes a drink called WitBlitz, (white lightening) which is absolutely lethal.

  128. Zibbie says:

MG I’m far from an Ocean, so I drive to western Michigan and drive with my 5th wheel to State Parks near a river for with Silver Salmon runs and park where I can watch the setting sun over the water of Lake Michigan. When I lived in Ocean Beach in San Diego I was on Sunset Cliffs and paid the $ for an apartment with an Ocean view and in 3 years some 1000 days watched over 400 sunsets. I have bought a place outside of Naples FL after the crash a 3 bedroom condo with a Ocean view for one eighth the cost before the crash. It has a patio that can party 10 with a grill and Jacuzzi. If I’m blessed to see the sunsets in retirement, some 5 to 8 years away. Until then my family can use it as a vacation home.

  129. smartalex says:

It’s interesting that the same commenter that considers that ‘calling Davies a cunt is childish’ decides to call Chelsea “cunts”.

Relative maturity that I one day may understand.

  130. Samuel - united WE stand says:

I had a feeling the injury wouldn’t be as serious, a month is better than 3months but kevin davies is still a cunt and all this Bullshit about him being this ‘big tough typical english striker who isn’t out to injure anyone’ baffles me, that’s just an excuse that he is a talentless hatchetman and the worse thing is, he has been getting away with it for a while.

  131. Samuel - united WE stand says:

Anyway perhaps pogba may have another chance to break in now but hopefully cleverly is back very soon.

  132. Zibbie says:

    Cedars 60′s!!! Cool.
My bad if taken that way. I come on RoM about 10 AM CST! And always read some 50 to 300 post to catch up on the action, today I responded with a cunt counting comment in observance of what I perceived as more then half the posts being negative in nature, thinking we should be celebrating great things and sure get your feeling out on the cunt Davis have 1,2,3,4,5 shots at him what ever.
Moving on HOW ABOUT THAT MAN UTD TEAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  133. Sandeep1878 says:

  134. CedarsDevil says:

Fucking pathetic the whole thing has my blood boiling….Some here finding it outrageous at the amount of times the word cunt is being used? What the fuck is this place supposed to be, Sunday school?

What the fuck next? Sir Alex should never have told that reporter to fuck off, it was wrong and immature, instead he should have hugged him and told him he would remember him in his prayers….Whilst we are at it why not have priests on the pitch instead of refs so whenever a CUNT like Davies commits fucking murder the priest will pray for him and forgive him…..

  135. Kings says:

Evans apologised for his challenge on Holden. No comparison.

  136. Zibbie says:

@Smartalex I googled your Zulu homeland Nat. Park and surfed information for some 30 minutes or so, I want to see your homeland. I would have made the World Cup but my heath kept me from the trip! Some day, that is on mu bucket list.

  150. orez says:

@CedarsDevil passionate and emotional is fine, but hateful and vile spouting on everyone and everything? As a matter of fact I don’t even care if you or anyone else want to be that way, but don’t try to pass it as passion, cause it’s not. I hear that a lot of reds always say that we reds have class, but the rest of the fans, especially dippers are classless cunts, which brought me to my point. Where is the class, when one insults a decent human being as Kenny (football legend BTW)? I made the comment just to show that not everyone thinks that way, so no need to twist my comments.

  151. smartalex says:

breaking hearts of the ABU Cunts.

  154. smartalex says:

orez – your comments are already twisted.

You cannot truthfully state that Davies was not trying to smash Tom’s leg and Patrice’s foot.

  155. WillieRedNut says:

You could write 4 books Zibbie lol. A man of many traits.

  156. Kings says:

CedarsDevil – Hello mate. So to express disgust at an opponent for intentionally injuring one of our lads is immature? Honestly mate, there are some fucking wankers on this blog who have the audacity to take the moral high ground about abusing an opposing player, yet they are happy to slag off our lads, picking holes at every given opportunity and then at the same time, claim to be a United fan. They are the immature cunts as far as I am concerned and I could not give a fuck if I get pulled for it. Kevin Davies clearly set out to hurt one of our lads yesterday, he said as much in his pre-match comments. Some ignorant cocksuckers are comparing his actions to that of Evans. There is absolutely no comparison. Evans didn’t say that he was going to do a number on Stuart Holden prior to the game at Old Trafford last season. He went in for a 50/50 challenge and unfortunately Holden felt the worst of it, but thankfully he has recovered and he received an immediate apology from Evans. That fat cheating cunt has yet to apologise and he is probably sitting at home, feeling that he has achieved his objective for his afternoons work.

I love this great club and all associated with it, any shit thrown at it will feel the full fucking force from me. And anyone who says anything derogatory about all things United is a fucking cunt and I stand by that.

    ONE LOVE ONE UNITED.

  157. smartalex says:

A collage of traits! All stuck together with glue that should not be sniffed at!

  158. Kings says:

Sandeep1878 – Hello my friend. Yeah Evans is a nice lad, hence his upset and immediate apology for his challenge on Holden. Class personified. Davies is a nasty cunt.

  159. WillieRedNut says:

Live for today Zibbie. You ain’t promised tomorrow.

  160. Sandeep1878 says:

Ah willie a man who lives his life.
For tomorrow is promised to no one.
My first book to be titled, The hazards of cooking naked.

  163. CedarsDevil says:

orez – Sorry to disappoint you but if calling Dalglish a cunt deprives me from my status as a classy gent then so be it however I know what I am and what I stand for and I for one do not need you to either educate nor lecture me on how to conduct my self and how that may effect my status as a human being…

You have the right to respect and admire whom ever you want but do not try and impose those thoughts or beliefs on me and please try not to use the ‘mature’ argument here

  164. Kings says:

orez – Are you United or a dipper?

  165. orez says:

@smartalex and I take it you know for sure that he was trying to injure them. Saying that they are going to put pressure on our GK doesn’t mean that he is going to injure TC. I don’t even care if someone is hateful against Davis, my point don’t be that way with the claim that he was trying to injure people, cause you don’t know. I was trying to point that accidents happen in EPL cause it’s a rough league.

  166. Kings says:

Sandeep1878 – Thanks mate. People like you are good folk, because you have good things to say about United and all connected with the club. But there are people who are happy to slag off players who would run through a brick wall for the shirt, yet they get all precious when scum like Davies or Dalglish get abused. What the fuck is that all about? Fuck off and support Bolton or Liverpool then. Dalglish may have been a great player in his day, but he is a distasteful manager. As for Davies, that cunt has history.

  167. T. says:

I miss the days we had to struggle to get our 3 points on the road. When we had to fight til the 86:th minute to get the winner against sides like Bolton, Wolves or whatever. These games more or less looks like Barca against any side in La Liga.

Are we to good right for our own good right now?

    Amazing stats today.

Shots on: 6 for Bolton, 8 for us, score 0-5! De Gea!!!!!!

Fouls: 15 for Bolton, 1 for us, still 23-33 in tackles won. Anderson!!!!!!

  168. Zibbie says:

@orez, I felt bad for before the game I said I like Davies physical play. Then he in a dirty tackle hurt a young Man Utd player who is 22 and been with the club since he was 12 and on the rise. Fucking despicable. I have stirred a hornets nest for a man I admire, and my back handed and straight forwardly said my bad for that. Cedars and others hear will protect the r helm of RoM.

  169. orez says:

@Kings I am united and have been for 16 years.

@CedarsDevil and that’s fine, but at the same time don’t try to imply that your type is the only real supporter.

  170. CedarsDevil says:

orez – Another thing, have you ever been to Old Trafford? Because all they do there on match day is sing rhymes from the bible

  171. FletchTHEMAN says:

    5-0 Hat trick WR10,

3 new lads have played 5 competitive matches with united and won every grame.
Same 3 have nerver lost or dropped a point.

THought I could die happy with 8-2. But 5-0 was enough to remind me that there is plenty more to come. Don’t here much moaning about our new number one De Gea either. COME ON UNITED!

    GET STUCK IN LADS.

@T Ya mate, you be talkin about last year then. Ha ha ha. Good to be red.

  172. smartalex says:

    orez

It is patently obvious that Davies was trying to injure Cleverley.

There is no other possible explanation for Davies launching himself at speed at Tom, and smashing into his knee. Please watch the footage I linked earlier on this thread, or any other footage of the incident. Davies brutally attacks Tom’s leg, with nothing to gain other than injuring him.

  173. Cyril Sneer says:

I’m sure multi-millionaire Kenny Dalglish can handle being called a cunt. It’s not like he hasn’t thrown out a few expletives at others in his time. Just ask ‘fuckin wee bastard’ Roy Keane or Arsene Wenger. Kenny’s a cunt and so are his squad of bin-dipping rat guzzlers. Especially Stevie Me.

Bye for now my fellow reds

  174. CedarsDevil says:

  179. smartalex says:

Most people are supported on their legs.

Davies tried to break Cleverley’s supporter.

There are other ‘supporters’ that should take a break themselves.

  180. Kings says:

orez – Fair enough. But kindly refrain from calling folk immature for abusing a player who has no intention of apologising for injuring a player and at the same time compare his vile actions to that of Evans, who made it his intention to apologise to Holden immediately.

I have also noticed that you enjoy having a go at Carrick who plays for our club and then get all defensive over what you perceive to be as insulting comments towards despicable folk like Dalglish. You talk about him as a decent man, but he walked over to Wenger with a smug grin on his face at the full-time whistle last season when they nicked a draw, then told him to piss off. I know Wenger is a prick, but a bit of respect wouldn’t go a miss. Fergie would never behave like that.

  181. smartalex says:

    CedarsDevil is a true Red.

orez is a shallow insignificunt when compared to CedarsDevil.

  182. CedarsDevil says:

CedarsDevil – Good call my friend.

  208. orez says:

@Kings You do have a point about apologizing, but to be honest my immature comment was towards Kenny abusers, I just didn’t see point in insulting Kenny out of blue. The reason I wanted to say it , because every time I see some bastard insulting SAF, I get a very twisted and disgusted feeling, so when I saw so many of reds doing the same thing to another decent football man I just wanted to point smth…and for the record I wouldn’t do it for Wenger or FSW. Both of them IMO betrayed their supporters for their personal gains, so in my eyes they deserve everything they get.
You are also right about me talking shit about Carrick all the time. I really think he is a coward and I am fine you for calling on that. Every red should support our players at all times, but I never said that I am perfect. It obvious that I can still improve as a true supporter.

Long story short I was just trying to put a little perspective into Davis and Kenny abusing and I will always do that, cause if my perspective could result in any person to be a little more, I don’t know, understanding, then I am happy with that. I am also fine taking some internet abuse, I hears it’s good for your blood pressure.

  213. Zibbie says:

  215. torontored says:

FletchTheMan – think it was Alex Dawson – do not ever remember an Alan Dawson playing for us.

Davies should be looked at by the FA for a deliberate attempt at GBH – dirty/cheap shot twat.

Impressed yesterday and more again watching the replay later of the discipline/work rate- running off the ball and covering back/sharpness/quickness/slickness of the passing of the whole team. This is quite possibly the best young team we have ever produced (no disrespect here for the lads of 1958). This will be the best team we have ever produced in another year. There was one spell around 63 minutes which was sheer magic – think about 9 touches in the space of 10 seconds.

Seguing into “respect” – we committed one foul yesterday- 93% tackling success!!. Makes life easy for a ref – in addition little or no yapping back at the ref at all. Will be interesting to see how the ref copes next weekend cos you know the Rent Boys will be out to make Davies look like a fairy in the dubious tackling department. Just hope RESPECT is a two way street. Should have the song piped into the ref’s change room before the game.
Fully expect SAF to get a ban come Monday.

Massively impressed with Phil Jones/Anderson – both had great games yesterday – who said Ando cannot go past a player/cannot make a long pass – oh and by the way he organises the whole middle of the field when the opposition have the ball. Chico back to normal. Rooney given license to roam and does he not lke that – always close to the play – always involved.

Benfica will be a good test Wednesday – just hope for no injuries. Do expect a result.

Slim. Evening pal. I texted my mate yesterday during the game saying exactly what you mentioned. That in four games I have not heard ONE fucking commentator give Anderson any praise. Any praise at all. He has bossed every game so far and is doing what Scholes did. Picking the ball up off the back four.

  225. CedarsDevil says:

orez – Its quite clear that you do not have an answer to my question, fair enough…

A genuine bit of advice to you, should you ever be lucky enough to make it to Old Trafford one day and even luckier to have a seat at the Stretty then in no way should you attempt to lecture the lads on some of the songs they sing during games, I do not think we would like that very much…

One year ago we were absolutely clueless as to what was happening to out team.

One year on the unknown has been replaced by a shining light, despair has been replaced by hope and whatever was weak in our team has been replaced by youthful courage.

Whatever we do and whatever we achieve as long as we can once more call it The United way then I guess their is nothing better than that.

  233. orez says:

@CedarsDevil sorry for the late reply. I was away from PC and missed your first comment.

Your type? That would be the type that believes that the more hate you have for your rivals the bigger you are as a fan and now I am going to be an absolute cunt and tell you how I see it. Warning!!! It’s going to hurt.

In all honesty I believe that it’s your type of people who sing Munich songs. Ok May be I am a little exaggerating. Those cunts are the lowest of them all. You are more like dipper for calls SAF a cunt, just cause he feels like it. Whatever you would feel for a person like that, can be applied on you.

@Zibbie I have a feeling I will be getting the abuse for free very soon. I say 15-20 minutes.

You really have no clue do you

  240. MG says:

    orez

Wasn’t going to come back but just read your comment to Cedars

    I have not a fucking clue what’s going down but I’ll say this;

If you are implying that Cedars sings Munich songs that is a disgrace and you should apologise – Cedars is Red to the core

Cedars has never called SAF a cunt like some fans on here have when the shit hits the fan – and when shit hits the fan Cedars has never wavered from the belief that the gaffer knows the score.

Again therefore he does not fall into either type that you have put him into – so jog on fella you’re up the wrong backside if you think you know what you’re on about.

    This time I’m gone.

  241. NBI Red Onion says:

Apologies if this posts twice but can’t see it come up -

Off topic – Thanks to SAF for curing my bitterness and regret at seeing PIQUE in a Barca shirt.

With respect to Pique, I honestly think Jones and Smalling are possibly better more versatile replacements and the sale worked out well for him and us. What absolutely great buys. I could not have imagined better.

  242. smartalex says:

orez also defends Davies for a flying lunge at Evra with studs showing.

orez defends Dalgleish for being a two-faced liar.

    orez attacks us for swearing.

orez lies about CedarsDevil, ridiculously accusing him of Munich taunts.

    orez is a CUNT!

  246. orez says:

@WillieRedNut lol thanks for putting some humor in our little discussion.

  247. CedarsDevil says:

    orez

The easy thing to do would have been to insult you but in all honesty I actually pity you, seems you have no idea…. If you differentiate football fans as to how they feel about their rivals and rival managers then there is really only one type, otherwise you are following the wrong sport and certainly the wrong league.

  248. smartalex says:

orez accuses CedarsDevil of mocking our dearly departed.

orez – you are the lowest cunt to ever appear on RoM.

  251. NBI Red Onion says:

    Re Davies debate –

Whether Davies was trying to injure Cleverly or rough him up and unsettle him only he knows – but the point is that he knows perfectly well that that type of dirty blind sided tackles he makes – made under no pressure – have a chance of seriously injuring the player on the receiving end. He has form on this. It was a pre-meditated challenge under no pressure, he looked and positioned and meant to take Cleverly out and he knows as a professional player that doing that in that way could injure the guy. That is why Davies is a complete aresewhole – he is reckless to a fault and indifferent of the outcome.

Also, to differentiate it from the Keano leg greaking incident – Keano went for revenge and meant to hurt the player who hurt him and yeah, people can condemn that. However, that is a completely different thing from recklessly challenging a young player, who is a clean player, and a small lad, just starting his career. In Keano’s case that was an exception, for Davies it is just the way he plays.

  252. CedarsDevil says:

Hahaha, thanks, I needed a bit of sympathy, that really did hurt……….

CedarsDevil loves all that is dear to United.

  255. CedarsDevil says:

Thanks smartalex, those are very kind words my friend……

You see, I did not have to insult orez, I merely left him to drown in his own vomit that he spouted.

  256. orez says:

@CedarsDevil “there is really only one type” …this is were you are wrong, cause I don’t believe that every dipper and every shity fan is a lowlife that sings Munich songs. Most of them are decent human beings who can banter with rival fan and enjoy every second of their downfall. I believe your love for your team and not your hate for rivals make you a bigger fan.

In any way this really got out of hand. As I said before I was trying to input a different perspective on Davis and not to be a hypocrite on Kenny’s issue. Then some questioned me being a supporter and some challenged my value. I am RED I and I have my believes as to how a proper red should behave and if I see something wrong I am going to put my point. People might agree or disagree, but as far as I am concerned if at least one person gets my point or even parts of it I am happy.

Vipers can drink their own poison.

However, you did the right thing. His pathetic calls for maturity were followed by this horrific attack that cuts to the core of our great club. There are surely no footballers that have lived in the past 50 years that are not aware of how tragic the events at Munich were.

Yet orez uses the saddest moment in our lives to fabricate an attack on our club.

orez is a revolting, lying cunt.

  260. orez says:

@smartalex I almost forgot about you. You are usually so far up people’s backside (you know who I am talking about) it’s very hard to notice you and hear you for that matter. It echos. Were you saying something?

  261. CedarsDevil says:

    orex

Again I will conclude with this………… You have no idea what you’re talking about, you have no idea what ‘type’ of supporter I am, you have no idea what United mean to me and trust me I know how to have a fun a friendly banter with rival fans….. Your classification is so off the mark that I will no longer waste any of my time responding to you. Stick to what you want to believe and carry on

  262. smartalex says:

orez – you will always be a cunt.

  263. CedarsDevil says:

    orez

Furthermore the use of the Munich chants as an example here was completely distasteful and showed a total lack of respect to all United supporters on this blog……But I guess you know better because you are 30 and mature plus you respect rival clubs and their managers but apparently you do not respect the club you allegedly support

  264. WillieRedNut says:

    Point of order FFS! ;)

  265. StatesideAussie says:

SmartAlex … thanks for posting that link. I read the article and came here to post you, because I don’t think Anderson’s been getting enough praise and recognition this year, and then saw you already had. To be fair to the collective community of commentators, there’s been so much to priase about United this year, guess it takes time to get through it all lol.

Been a good weekend for me. United thrashed Bolton, and away too. Aussies walloped Italy in the rugby. And my son’s U16 had their first league match of the season, won 9-0. Talk about weirdness though: our home park is called Hillsborough. No joke. Just a coincidence — that’s the street it’s on, but still fucking weird.

    Looking forward to Wednesday.

  266. CedarsDevil says:

    StatesideAussie

Home park is called Hillsborough and you’re looking forward to Wednesday, now THAT is weird!

  267. CedarsDevil says:

Piss off Willie, its been ages for me, let me have a bit of fun !

  268. smartalex says:

StatesideAussie – I thought of you last week when the Wallabies beat the All Blacks – nice one! Try not to be too upset when the Boks take home the World Cup again!

I do wonder how Paul Parker/ What ??? is enjoying seeing Anderson and Young step up, as he predicted they would. Our Brazilian has certainly not missed a beat now that he is getting the run of games that any player needs to improve their game.

  269. orez says:

@CedarsDevil “distasteful”, “total lack of respect” I never thought those are the things that can be associates with your hating philosophy. Very interesting how you and the little man up your backside are twisting my words. Very funny cause everything I said is printed. So can you please point to my disrespecting Munich or saying that you sang Munich songs. The Munich chants were mentioned when I implied that those are the same “hating” people who sing them. Before I said that you might not be that way, but I was wrong. You are that low of a human being. To put is simply if you were a dipper or shity I have no doubt that you would have sang Munich songs, with pride I must add.

  270. Clint-iamyourpapii says:

  271. smartalex says:

Jones would have denied Rooney his milestone had he managed to find the finishing touch to a mesmerising run, which merely emphasised the talent which is destined to take him right to the very top of the game. “It would have been a wonder goal,” said the Chorley-born youngster. “Wayne asked me in the changing room afterwards why I hadn’t pulled it back but I have not scored in the Premier League before.”

Clint – you have a potty mouth and under regular circumstances would fall foul of the censor, however after consultation with said censor he totally agrees with your unbiased assessement – he too cannot find more appropriate language to suit the individuals named. He also reckoned it would not be out of line to add “fucking” before the use of the “cunt” word.

Great weekend in the Great White North – 21C – blue skies/glistening lake – 007 movie marathon on TV – stuffing the rag ends from Bolton – still euphoric over the last two games (and expect it all to get better and faster as the season moves ahead)

Off to sit in a bathtub of maple syrup, eat pancakes and bacon and drink at least 9 Boddingtons with a few female masseuses rubbing my back.

Orez, I get your point, I have been at games at OT where the paedo shouts to Wenger disgust me and fans around me but unfortunately there are some supporters of every team who hit below the belt. However, I have been reading this blog since it started and Ceders is not one of them, I think people make flippant comments on blogs that can get taken out of context expecially as none of us actually know each each other so sometimes all you have to go by is the written word without necessarily understanding the context or intention with which it was meant and therefore your counterpoint can be misplaced as you draw incorrect inferences.

  282. NBI Red Onion says:

You may make some good comments but just in this last couple of weeks you have had these juvenile idiotic slagging matches with me, NRD and now Orez when his comment was not even directed at you. You react like a moron robot and undermine sensible discussion and prolong conflict. You abuse this site more than anyone by going off topic post after post to abuse people. repeatedly in a juvenile way.

Also – you also use use name SirAlex’sSon – thats obvious….and yeah, basically everyone on this site in me besides your two identities.

  291. orez says:

@NBI Red Onion I agree about the pedo chants and I also see your point, but I held back in the beginning and said it to just point what it looked to me and I was going to let it go, but when he started twisting my words…It was just a discussion but he went the way of putting words in my mouth for “character assassination”. If he can do something this low, then what about rest…

In any way you are right we don’t know each other and I shouldn’t have made my assumption on our conversation, however not only he did what I said, but he didn’t even said anything to his little friend, who has been spouting absolute shit for a while now. Doesn’t seem like a man with principles.

  292. NBI Red Onion says:

@ Orez – mate, I just read the blog and focus on the footie comments, I started reading it because of Scotts posts but they seem to have dried up and he seems to have stopped responding to posts and mediating; I am hoping that is just a phase, don’t know what’s going on there as I thought he would have al ot to say with the stuff going on this season and the guys opinion is worth reading. Don’t let the rest of the stuff get to you.

  293. StatesideAussie says:

Cedars … ouch! Yeah, even I didn’t get the Hillsborough/Wednesday thing (when I wrote it). You’re right, that’s beyond weird. Nah, I meant looking forward to the CL on Wednesday this week. Bloody hell!

  297. orez says:

@NBI Red Onion another good point.

I just watched Chicharito’s first goal again. It’s a very good example of an exceptional footwork, He completely twisted Cahill without even having the ball. The kid can score some amazing goals. Nothing from outside of the box, but some exceptional goals. Stoke header comes to mind too.

  298. Zibbie says:

A lot of TNT in the side, Rooney, Lil Pea, Nani, Young Tony V, and Mr. Giggs. to name a few!

    It’s yours Papii.

  300. WillieRedNut says:

I’m gonna go get the papers, get the papers.

  301. orez says:

@Samuel I have the same worries, but I think that our dynamism was fine even without him. We should also remember that. Andy’s and Rooney’s form are much better and we put in more pace in the team with Young. This is my positive thinking. My personal trust in Carrick’s abilities is lacking TBH. I still remember the mistake he made in FA semi and his overall form last year has been bad, but beggars aren’t chooser’s, so I hope for the best.

  302. Zibbie says:

Nice wolfie, and you got 300th post. Tried to wake up Papii he has some Spartan 300 ball worked up. Next time maybe.

  305. WillieRedNut says:

  306. NBI Red Onion says:

@ Samuel – I think the posts on this topic in sum provide a good answer – Carrick is not as dynamic as Cleverly, nor a potential game changer in the same way, but he also does a different role so its not like for like.

What Carrick does few do better, that is why he is at United when Wes and O’Shea are out. However, being at United, there is always demand for the type of player that sets your hair on end and who you move to the edge of your seat to watch wheh he’s got the ball i.e. the United way is to prefer to score 10 and lose 2 than to play safe and we love dynamic players and characters.

I have been watching some Carrick games back and I do agree with some posts that it easy to underrate what he does. You don’t see him heading, tackling and defending like the back four and he has not always got the passing vision that say Hargreaves would have as DM, he is not aggressive, you don’t get the sense he is a big character, but he is safe and solid when he is on form and capable of playing some great passes and making key interceptions. That is really important as well. I also think he is a confidence player and as seen, takes a while to get into his game, though he seems on form at the moment.

Most people would prefer watching a player like Cleverly, because of the excitement factor, but Carrick for certain games may be a better bet, for example, he is usually great against Chelsea and he and Fletch also had a good understanding. Anyway as Cleverly will be back, we will get a chance to see how the team performs, but right now, the form that our forwards our in I don’t see Carrick having any negative impact, I think he will do the job is is asked to do in his usual solid way and also allow Anderson more freedom to join the attack and dictate play while he mops up in front of defence. So it may allow Ando’s play to develop in that way.

I view Benfica like Tottenham, they have some talented players but I expect us to win by 1-0 away as United will likely take a more cautious approach away and also need to learn about their players.

SAF has previously tended to play 1 striker – Rooney in away CL matches – however, if he does this , I think he will use Pea as a sub if the game is going in our favour. I would expect him to start with:

    De Gea
    Jones – Ferdinand – Rio – Fabio
    Carrick
    Nani – Anderson – Ashley
    Park
    Rooney

    Likely subs used: Giggs, Pea

“He can play midfield, he can play right-back, centre-back as we know, but I felt that Chris Smalling having an arduous time with England games…I just thought [we'd] freshen it up a bit and bring Rio’s experience back into the team and I thought they did very well.”

I am trying to work out why we are winning so easy, obversely we are playing but what has changed so much that we are battering teams . Are we just taking our chances because we never use to or is it the speed of our attacts the way we break from defense to attact . May be the confidence is so high that they think they can do any thing, not complaining answers on a post card please.

  346. moscow JT says:

@ smartalex. yeah the entire nation is disappointed about gyan’s move. however reports here in ghana suggest SB and sunderland will make about £6m from the move and for a player they payed £13m to secure, they deemed it beneficial (good business) to push the move through. so i think SB’s comment’s is just to avoid anger from the fans for allowing a key player to move at this time although i must admit that gyan also asked sunderland to do something about his wages which is reportedly £20k-£25k per week.

  347. jeet says:

@Dazbomber: I think you mentioned some of the factors yourself:
    1. New blood and new playing style. Not bashing Carrick, but the difference between Cleverly and Carrick’s styles was clear. I also feel there is more directness in our style this year, not just the speed.
    2. Finishing seems to have improved dramatically. We missed too many good chances last year.
    3. Psychologically, I feel young professionals, because they havent been hurt badly yet, are more confident about taking on risks, and because of their blessed self-belief, make things happen. Not just in football, by the way – when I started my career, I would take on projects in a heartbeat which I would think ten times before taking on today. At that time, I was simply not aware of the risks, and that, in a perverse manner, actually helps a lot of times.
    4. Last but not the least – physcial fitness. Towards the beginning of the season, our players have by far, looked fitter and hungrier. Spurs looked unfit as a team, as did shitty in the shield. I think there’s a lot of harder-than-usual work that’s gone into preseason prep (probably because of the difficult early fixtures), and we are bearing the fruits of that.

  348. Balaji Sivaraman says:

smartalex, Yeah, I read that some time ago. What a complete asshole, but I am sure Bruce will end up getting a lot of stick for it. The problem for Brucey is that Sunderland have been in dismal form for a long time now and his new signings have not exactly got them out of the blocks and apart from ex-United players, you can say even Stoke have made better signings than him. Now that they have lost their top-scorer from last season, you can expect Steve’s head to be asked on a platter if their form doesn’t improve soon.

Costas, The really unfortunate situation here is that we usually go 4-5-1 in European matches and you know what that means – Berbatov may be benched yet again. Now, Sir Alex may just surprise us by going 4-4-2 with Berba in the team or even a 4-5-1 with Berba as the lone striker, but both of those are highly unlikely. I am just waiting for The Berb to get his chance, and it looks like he may have to wait a bit longer for that.

dazbomber, I personally feel that it is a combination of E) All of the above. Sir Alex has definitely changed our tactics to suit the youthfulness and exuberance of his new side. While we were dependant on the hole player like Carrick or Fletcher in past seasons, this season Sir Alex has set the team up as a complete defensive unit where all the 10 players are involved in pressing from high up the field. And once we have the ball, the goal has been to get it up as quickly as possible to our creative forces (in contrast to the slow tiki-taka build up play of a Barcelona or an Arsenal) and let them work their magic.

All of this is of course possible because of the youngsters in the team and the energy they have. Not to mention that we’ve hit the ground running and are in some form right now. All of this have contributed to the batterings over the past weeks. I still expect us to batter many teams in the course of the season by playing like that but it will become less frequent as the players’ bodies wear down and they lose a bit of steam & form and the games start coming in thick and fast. But, enough of that, let us all enjoy it while it is going on right now.

  349. GoatinaUnitedShirt says:

Steve Bruce. “No disrespect to the country in question, but I think we can all draw our own conclusions about why he’s done that.”

What a racist comment. Fucking anti muslim sentiment there. They are just as good as anybody else. Now I think it only fair that Sunderland FC pay a large ammount of money for Muslim awareness, house 30 immigrants and pay for a school and well in cash strapped UAE for the needy. Come out with a statement claiming Allah is great and calling christianity a farce of a religion and that we are all prostitutes to the U.S.
I cant believe in this day and age such a comment can be made, dispicable. bruces head should roll for this.

  350. Balaji Sivaraman says:

@jeet, We inadvertently touched on a lot of the same points. Great minds… ;)

One thing that is so awesome about having youngsters in the team is that none of them take their place for granted. Of course, this being United we can be sure that Sir Alex doesn’t allow the seniors to do that also, but with youngsters you don’t have to tell them that. They know that they have to out-perform each other and they will always put their best foot forward in each game. We saw how good Smalling was at RB in the past few weeks. Yet, when Jones was moved there, he almost overshadowed Smalling with a complete performance that was simply too good to be true. Because of that, you can be sure that the next time Smalling (or Fabio/Rafael for that matter) is selected at RB, they will do their best to out-perform Jones and make a statement.

That is one of the reasons the foundation of youth is good to have, and that is the definitive reason why we’ve remained so successful over a long period of time.

  351. MG says:

    Where’s Sneijder?

  352. smartalex says:

It’s interesting to hear both sides.

moscow JT reckons Sunderland will make about £6m from the move, and Gyan £180k extra per week (10 times his salary!). That is impossible to turn down, especially if you’re unhappy, and the loan deal will accelerate a transfer to a club where you can happily achieve, probably in Europe.

I think that Roy Keane was slated in most quarters when he left Sunderland, yet it seems there are undercurrents that are unbearable, because even players doing well there force moves away regularly. I’d suggest that lies and broken promises are likely the cause.

  353. Balaji Sivaraman says:

In other news, Alan Hansen is at it again by spewing his own brand of complete bollocks.

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/manchester-united/8756244/Alan-Hansen-Manchester-United-and-City-still-have-a-long-way-to-go-to-knock-Barcelona-off-their-perch.html

That being said, I think the press are definitely going overboard by comparing United and City with Barcelona and Real Madrid. Although there are many reasons why I feel this way, one of them is that City haven’t really achieved anything apart from putting in some good performances. And this comparison with the Spanish League is utter bollocks. As the season progresses, and we face a dip in form and the playing field levels out, we will see the games get much more difficult. Many of the teams from the bottom half will provide tough opposition for us and other top teams.

Not to mention, everyone is too quick is disregarding Chelsea from the equation. I still see them being up there, and we have no idea how City will handle the pressure; it remains to be seen whether they have the cojones to go head-to-head with the big boys.

All of this makes my blood boil that people are comparing the toughest and most competitive league in the world with the easies and least-competitive league in the world just after a few weeks because two clubs have come racing out of the starting grid.

  354. MG says:

I haven’t heard anything from Al Ain or Anzi Machachkala regarding my transfer to write for them.

  355. smartalex says:

Balaji – Sunderland seem unable to score. Now that Gyan has left, it will surely get worse. Steve Bruce has spent a lot of money, and made wholesale changes. He needs results or he will be out the door.

  356. Costas says:

    @Balaji

Actually the worst selection that SAF could make for a Ch.League away game would be Berba as the lone striker. It rarely works for him or the team. I don’t know where people get the idea that Berbatov will start in Portugal anyway. It’s not an indiferent European game or a Carling Cup tie. Berbatov didn’t even come on at Bolton when we were 5-0 up and Fergie decided to bring on Park and Giggs instead. And I know that eventually Smalling came on instead of Park out of necessity, but it shows you what Fergie’s mindset is about Berbatov.

  362. NBI Red Onion says:

Agree with @ costas – I can’t see berba playing, as noted he was not heavily involved in preseason or in the games despite the fact we were leading arse and bolton by miles.

@ JC – can’t see fletcher coming into a CL away game without having played and part in PL matches, he needs to get match fit first.

To the extent players are rested / rotated for Chelsea game on Sunday it will likely be Rooney and Ando replaced by Pea and Park/ Giggs. Valencia has an outside chance of playing second half.

Note the pace of the game in Portugal is quite quick, its a different league and it’s not going to be a walk over on paper. In reality, ofcourse we will thrash them.

  363. GAZ says:

i hope none of our boys are involved with this shit tonight, would love if it was one of the Bitters or the scouse cunts! id put my money on Carroll fucking duncan ferguson with a poney tail!

  364. lordrt says:

This should giveplayers like Pogba or Morrison the opportunity to shine and make a mark in the squad, the older ones seem to slow down the pace a little, like Carrick when he came on, thou he did his job well in midfield, what is needed nowadays is a combination of pace and technique, which Tom has shown already, along with his other mates, to slash through the opposition. Hope Tom is back soon, and hope to see another man who can play as CM, Valencia, start in the coming games. The CL clash will be an interesting one it seems, I believe SAF will line up Macheda and Berbatov upfront, and give both Park and Giggs a start, and hopefully one of the young lads in midfield, like Pogba. And also may be Lindegaard to be called in action instead of De Gea.

Coming off topic, I think Nani has dropped somehow in form to what he had shown in the Shield, he has promised to be a world class player at OT, but I see that he tries doing it almost the solo way by trying to score himself instead of at times passing it for a better positioned teammate.

  365. smartalex says:

@Lordrt: Dont think Macheda and Berbatov will start midweek, mate. This match is clearly going to be the most difficult one for united in the group stage, and I dont think SAF will pull any punches.
    My guess would be:
    DDG
    Evra Rio Jones Smalling
    Young Anderson Carrick Park Nani
    Rooney

If SAF goes 4-4-2, then Hernandez instead of Park (I doubt it though)

  372. WillieRedNut says:

Nani had 2 assists on Saturday. That’s doing the business, as they say.

  373. Balaji Sivaraman says:

smartalex, Yeah, the biggest offense our lads will commit would probably be adultery. I simply cannot see a Manchester United player being involved in anything more. Not to claim a moral high ground or something, but it hasn’t happened so far, and I don’t see it happening anytime soon with one of our players.

The biggest problem with Nani seems to happen when we go on a romp like we have done in our last three matches. When the game begins to almost resemble an exhibition, he seems to take it upon himself to get on the scoring sheet or make a name for himself somehow. I’ve noticed this far too often. But he has definitely cut down on almost all of his negative antics. There have been quite a few occassions where he was fouled or felled down and he did not go down clutching his ankle and crying or have a go at the opposition. He just got on with it and that greatly impressed me. Even in the Bolton game, he had the presence of mind to square the ball to Rooney for his hat-trick where previously he would’ve taken it on himself. Yes, sometimes he does go at it himself, but unlike olden days this has become a rarity, than being the single attribute that defines him. That displays a rapid growth in maturity on Nani’s part which should be highlighted.

  374. Zelh says:

Even owen will probably only play cup games but it’s great that we have intense competition in the team, will prevent complacency in the team. we have to continue the ruthlessness in matches.I don’t get this sentimentality with berbatov. quality player that he is, other’s clearly have been performing better than him both in training and in matches, welbeck is apparently back next week which means he’ll be struggling to make the bench.

    @fergie is the boss

I don’t think you can say any one of Young, Valencia and Nani are first choice in the wing departments. It’s all about competition for places and they will all play a lot of games this season and it’s fantastic for us to have one of them to bring of the bench if need be. If I had to pick the most gifted of the 3 though it is obviously Nani. He with Rooney is our biggest match winner who can turn a game on it’s head. I thought Nani was excellent against Bolton after some indifferent performances to start the season. We are spoilt as a club and supporters to have 3 top quality wide men.

  383. WillieRedNut says:

When Nani is in form, you can’t leave him out. Furthermore, in terms of talent, Nani has the edge over Young and Valencia. IMO though, we have 3 top wingers. No need to start playing them off against each other. All 3, will get game time this season. As I said before, we’re lucky to have 3 of best wide players in Europe.

    @Lord T

Have you got some sort of vision impairment fella? Nani was superb on Saturday- set up Chica, set up Wazza, set up (could have had a pen in the process) the Pea once more- i’m all for freedom of opinion, and i’m not going to mock you but are you sitting directly on Pete Doherty’s left as he passes the crack pipe around?

Nani was excellent, plain as the enormous chip on Davies’ shoulder.

  385. smartalex says:

‘Messages posted on a fake Tom Cleverley Facebook page on Saturday night claimed the United player was angry and that Davies had not apologised. United made it clear this account was not genuine and Davies’ wife, Emma, who herself received abusive messages via Twitter, tweeted “For all the ill-informed haters… Kevin spoke to Tom Cleverly (sic) on the phone earlier. He would never intentionally hurt anyone.”
    http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/news/Manchester-United-midfielder-Tom-Cleverley-called-by-Kevin-Davies-after-htackle-article798046.html

I wonder if she’ll stick to her story that “Kevin would never intentionally hurt anyone.” should he ever look at another woman.

  387. Mr C says:

I think refs make allowances for the likes of Davies when their sides are playing at home on a relatively big occasion for them against a ‘top side’. Regardless of the rights and wrongs of it, I guess some refs are loathed to send off home players early or at all in such circumstances lest they be accused of favouring the bigger teams. It aint right but there it is.

Davies not offering Tom, a fellow professional, a timely ‘no frills’ apology shows a lack of class. I thought OC had set higher standards at Bolton.

  388. King Eric says:

lordt – Nani got about three assists on Saturday and almost 4 but for the offside goal.

I honestly think its a myth Carrick slows us down and its really irritating me. Just watch the game and his one and two touch balls. He keeps us ticking over and he is a player that we need in Europe. Dont get me wrong I love Tom and folk on here will know that I have been singing his praises for the last few years , I love his energy but sometimes we need a measured approach and in Europe Carrick is the man to help with that.

  389. King Eric says:

lordt – Sorry mate but Pogba will not be starting in an away European tie. Not a chance pal.

  390. King Eric says:

” and i’m not going to mock you but are you sitting directly on Pete Doherty’s left as he passes the crack pipe around? ”

    Quality Clayton Blackmore’s tan!

  391. TonyBee says:

Afternoon / Evening fellas…. just got on the blog and read some fucking posts on here about Carrick slowing the game down.. fucking hell some people just don’t get it do they…… when Carrick cane on he was immense …stuck his foot on when needed and relaesed Ando to go forward more and still found time to do his bit….

Never been Carrick’s greatest fan but fucking hell …. he did well on Saturday

  393. RedDevil4Lyfe says:

just gone thru about 100-150 tweets directed at Emma Davies (Cunt davies wife) and i must say they are not abusive TO her at all. Most are abuse at her husband while she is saying people have been abusing her. Sad – attention seeker

  394. smartalex says:

    RedDevil4Lyfe

When someone calls you and says that your wife is a cunt, is that not abusive to you?

  395. FletchTHEMAN says:

In the end, there is not much in the tackle. Yeah only, that it was
    i. high,
    ii. from behind,
    iii. couldn’t win the ball.
iv. knocked a promising young footballer out of England and first team footie.

Those are the facts. You can say Tom will be back, but that isn’t a fact. You don’t know if Tom will be back or that he will regain his place. We all hope so, but he has to fight for fitness that a poor tackle has taken away. Just sayin. While I am at it.

Do think it is some kind of crap reporting that claimed that Kevin hadn’t apologized to Tom based only on a ghost facebook account. Fans deserve better than that!

PS So Davies doesn’t have a twitter account, but his wife does?
Man seems to always go for the small people. Not much a man, Kevin. But then, folks have been saying that for years.

  396. RedDevil4Lyfe says:

yea smartalex – i guess ur right.

but she did ask for the utd fans to message her. she started saying “my husband is a trending topic on twitter how cute” and she started @ msging ppl telling them that they are going over board wit the abuse towards davies.

PPL can say we may go overboard towards the abuse but unfortunately thats how iv been built/grown accustomed to for utd over the last 20 years of supporting them.

Every other team/fan hates us – regardless of what league. The FA hates us and FIFA and UEFA hate us – so its pretty much us against the rest of the world and i have grown used to having to defend our team against all the ABUs. Especially when the ABUS say we get away with everything – while in fact they are the ones that do.

Ashley young gets a coin thrown at him at Bolton – not 1 word mentioned about it.
Davies does horrendous challenges – doesnt get sent of. MOTD doesnt mention it.
Dalglish takes a swipe at refeering and doesnt get a warning even – fergie just says they need to be consistant and gets a 3 match ban.
Our player screams profanity – gets 3 match ban – others never do.
Rafa insults Man Utd, refeering, FA and calls into question the integrity of all the associated parties – gets away with it scot free..

    the list goes on>

my point is- im gonna defend Utd vehemently cause no one else will. and if it means abusing the crap outta kevin davies on facebok/twitter or wahtever medium i can find so be it.

Sorry im done with my rant on that cunt now. 2 days of ranting is enough – but its mainly because im gutted about Clevs .. absolutely gutted. I hope he returns to normal.

  397. smartalex says:

RedDevil4Lyfe – I am clear that United is unfairly targeted by the FA, while other clubs and players get away with attempted murder. StR has done some good articles on exactly that trend.

I read an interesting article on a Bolton website from an author who doesn’t like Davies at all. He reckons that analysis of the twitter abuse Davies wife received showed it to come mainly from the far East, not England, which really surprised me.

  398. FletchTHEMAN says:

@smartalex. By far east, are you meaning Rochdale?!

  399. RedDevil4Lyfe says:

Far east – guess there is more hate in this side of the world (as im pretty sure there are tons more fans on this side of the world than in the west due to the sheer numbers here – so maybe that could be a possible reason)

Also fans here are nearly fanatical like crazy (here being the eastern hemisphere of the world – Australia counts as east right?) and Utd is a religion dare i say bigger than Islam, Hinduism, Catholicism or Budhism. Lol (Plz dont abuse me for this) (But Utd is my religion)

Anyways – what did u think about the coin thrown at Ashley Young? how come no body is talking about it?

  400. smartalex says:

    @ FletchTHEMAN – Oldham, actually!

  401. smartalex says:

RedDevil4Lyfe – your comment on the sheer number of fans from the East holds water.
Also, I’d suggest that they are more twitter/facebook aware than people in Europe.

With regard to that coin, it will be in the Ref’s match report, but not of much interest to the FA, who prefer banknotes and blank cheques.

  402. FletchTHEMAN says:

    From Sean O’Sullivan

    Since 2000:
Scholes: 369 fouls in 465 games, 89 yellows, 4 reds.
Davies: 894 fouls in 417 games, 100 yellows, 2 reds.

Davies; “I made a tackle for which I received a yellow card” ?! You didn’t get any card for crippling Tom you idiot”

  403. FletchTHEMAN says:

Davies “…. it was a tackle which maybe I mis-timed and I got a yellow card which was just deserved, so for me I’m not sure what it’s all about.”

    http://www.footymad.net/football-news/davies_confirms_cleverley_call_3847270/index.shtml

Ok, I am don’t with this idiot. Off to the next thread. Cheers lads!

  404. RedDevil4Lyfe says:

Fletch dont pass those stats on to the FA – they will ban you from football. prolly even send a few chav thugs from Chelsea to take ur tv away

  405. smartalex says:

I am also don’t with this idiot!

  406. RedDevil4Lyfe says:

@Smartalex very true mate. All about the Queen Lizzzys (Im thinking thats what u have on the pound note?) for them pricks at the FA.

  407. lordrt says:

Well guys I know Nani plays well, was very good infact last season, but may be I was hoping for him to turn out a Ronaldo’esque’ performance from the start this time, really, like the quick foot-work of CR7, freekicks etc (which now Rooney is delivering like a new Beckham :D )
May be it is my expectation being too high for the moment for Nani, given how well Tom and Danny have slotted in the squad and delivering the goods, but both now out injured unfortunately.

  408. smartalex says:

Kevin’s wife, Emma Davies announced on her Twitter account yesterday that she was “seriously sickened” after comments were made following the Whites’ clash with Manchester United. She said: “I will not be bullied, but going off Twitter for a while to concentrate on more important things like my family.”

Earlier this year, skipper Davies quit Twitter after he received online abuse.
