  2. Deano says:

Back to 442 thank god hope we have seen the back of the diamond

  3. kenyan Red says:

    Solid

  4. Vidic says:

    Unlucky Hernandez

  5. Imran says:

looks like nanis out of here

  6. matt says:

    bench?

  7. Costas says:

As far as non diamond midfield foursomes are concerned, this is our most defensive minded one. I thought for sure that Fergie would switch back to the diamond formation, but this midfield should provide plenty of cover. It’s a balanced side. Lets hope it will be enough.

  8. Deano says:

Costas it’s what we are best at

  9. dannysoya LOVES USAIN BOLT says:

I can see the rationale behind playing Young. He tracks back VERY VERY WELL and if he is on form ( hopefully he is today) then he is just as dangerous going forward. the middle looks a bit thin. Hopefully cleverley racks back quickly. Although we line up as 4-4-2 we will probably revert to a 4-5-1 with van Persie alone up top for most of the game to counter chelsea’s quick midfield. COME ON BOYS!!! our horrible record at the bridge has to end some time. Why not today.

  10. matt says:

    found this on the guardian

Chelsea: Cech; Ivanovic, Cahill, Luiz, Cole; Ramires, Mikel; Mata, Oscar, Hazard; Torres.
Subs: Turnbull, César Azpilicueta, Bertrand, Romeu, Marin, Moses, Sturridge.

Manchester United: De Gea, Rafael, Ferdinand, Evans, Evra; Nani, Cleverley, Carrick, Young; Rooney, Van Persie.
Subs: Lindegaard, Anderson, Giggs, Chicharito, Nani, Welbeck, Scholes.

  11. Red Van Nistelrooy says:

    Matt!
Guardian one has Nani both starting and on the bench :D
Tony V in there instead of him mate

  12. WeAreUnited says:

    cmooooon UNited

Young is a surprise. Can he produce in his first game after a big break? Let’s hope so.

    2-1 for us

  13. Costas says:

    @Deano

Wingplay? I agree. It’s just that we haven’t stopped the bleeding defensively and the diamond was the best chance to do that. This lineup is an enigma in that respect. As history shows, we have played well against Chelsea even in games where they played a narrow midfield.

  14. Arthur "Two Sheds" Jackson says:

I would have still picked Nani–with all of his problems and his recent mouthing off–over Young.

  15. matt says:

ah thanks van nistelrooy, didnt even see that fuck up. then again thats what the guardian is best at.

  16. Gandalf says:

Good line up, come on united.
We need a good performance and a win to close the gap. Lets hope the referee doesn’t fuck up – we are overdue a win at the bridge.

  17. Marq says:

Young provides more cover for Evra, so I believe its the right choice. Not to mention Nani has been horribly out of form as well.

Its could still be a diamond depending on where Rooney plays, but thank goodness Scholes & Giggs are not in from the start

  18. orez says:

I like the lineup. United without wings is not United. It’s gong to come down to individual performances. The two in the center being the most important ones. Make us all proud United.

  19. Red Robin says:

4-4-2! Interesting. The formation is changeable into diamond with Cleverley at the tip supporting Rooney an RVP. Or, 4-5-1 with Rooney supporting the midfield.

Hernandez to come at 70 minutes and grab a winner for us! I’m so ready for this!

  20. WeAreUnited says:

yeah nani has not done anything to start this game.

i kinda expected the diamond that’s why young is a surprise so is the wingplay

let’s hope, our wingers provides for the first time this year

  21. Andromeda says:

@ Costas, you are absolutely right, this is the most defensive minded team with great balance but I woul loved to have Chicarito or Welbeck instead of Young, as giving the latter a start for such a competitive game might hold some little risk beside the fact that Chica was brilliant against Braga and deserved a chance!!but still I am confident that our wingers will play a pertinent role, and one thing for sure, this is not our traditional 4-4-2 formation as I expect Rooney to play the Scholes role in midfield.other than that I am a bit worried about our defensive display!!no expectations so far, methinks it will be a tough encounter with many goals..we are all with you lads

  22. Andromeda says:

  23. AntiScouser says:

Ashley Young can only be “the right choice” in a universe where everything is opposite: wrong is right, bad is good, down is up, England is Spain, Kevin Davies is Messi. We’ll be well beaten today.

  24. Rd5454 says:

Crazy nani lover ,he’s lose the ball too often and lazy to defence ,no way start him to strong team except he’s got top top preformence like 10season

  25. orez says:

Rio is waring the kick it out shirt. Good job Rio.

  26. Marq says:

    @AntiScouser

Would you be game enough to quit commenting if we don’t get well beaten?

  27. orez says:

I liked SKY-s James Bond theme lol, pumped me up even more.

  28. Red Robin says:

In your opposite world Antiscouser is Proscouser? Just saying.

  29. orez says:

    @AntiScouser

That is possible, but we have an attacking line up and we are going to try to hurt them and that’s good enough for me. Be more positive man, nothing is guaranteed in football and that is why we all love it so much.

  30. Proverb says:

I’m fucking nervous, I don’t if my heart will handle this
Brigadier bravo!!! Come on you reds!!!!!!!!!!

  31. 53toBrooksBar says:

Please, please don’t let us concede another early goal!!!

  32. Proverb says:

    Know*

  33. Ash says:

No point continuing with diamond formation without kagawa. The diamond formation was started for the benefit of kagawa and now he is injured so back to normal formation. Happy with the line up.
Have a good feeling we will win this one. :)

  34. 53toBrooksBar says:

    GET IN!!!!

  35. Andromeda says:

No early conceding but early score.fantastic start!!

  36. matt says:

    GOAL

  37. Marq says:

Ohhh, our wrong choice Young took up such a wrong position for the lead up to the goal

  38. Red Robin says:

    RVP!!

Luckily we are living in the opposite world of Antiscouser opposite. ;)

  39. Sushi says:

Wow look at their scum fans booing Ferdinand classless cunts. Racists the lot of them

  40. KP_Red_Devil says:

Anyone with a good live stream?

  41. kel says:

What did young do to include in the squad? lol
Nani has been off form but he will get back.

  42. matt says:

    fucken oath boys

anf fuck the chelsea cunts booing rio.. fuck i hope that stadium burns down

  43. Sushi says:

    ROBINNNNNN

  44. Marq says:

Oh dear, wrong choice Young made a wrong move drawing Cahill away from Rvp for him to score

  45. kel says:

VPS really settle in. I hated him when he is in Arsenal but as a player he really is good.

Now he really worth that money! WOW

  46. Sushi says:

Kel young doing well mate he deserves it. It’s clear he’s worrying Chelsea defence

  47. matt says:

cleverley makes some awul decisions sometimes. he’ll fix that over time but god help me that nearly caused me a heart attack

  48. Mr C says:

Top performance thus far. Chelsea are no pushovers but we are looking good.

  49. Andromeda says:

We should defend well.its not over yet.

  50. Mr C says:

Top performance by us thus far. Chelsea are no pushovers but we are looking good.

  51. kel says:

    DDG NO.1

  52. kel says:

Rooney best position. Can defend and attack and all through him

  53. redriderCH says:

i hate it if we re in front…uncommon feeling this season…

  54. matt says:

were defending well as a group

  55. redriderCH says:

    agree with kel….roo works hard…

  56. Andromeda says:

Chelsea are toothless without Lampard and Terry!let us stay focused to the end.

  57. Redbilly says:

Lads playing well , defending and supporting brilliantly. Fingers crossed

  58. Sushi says:

Fucking Evans man Jesus. Is it just me or
Is Rooney looking way more in shape?

  59. redriderCH says:

    tony s brilliant all season…what a winger!!!!!….uuuuhhhh johnny wanted to score…

  60. Redbilly says:

Chavs are a good side right now , lads need to play their guts out until the end . Excellent up to yet.

  61. Sushi says:

Fucking ref just giving Chelsea Kicks

  62. redriderCH says:

    mata,oscar&ramirez are f… brilliant players…

  63. WeAreUnited says:

    enjoying the game so much

    degea being brilliant

  64. bRed says:

    Living dangerously! FFS

  65. Andromeda says:

We are under intense pressure!!chill up lads

  66. kel says:

What the wall is doing? OMG

  67. evisu says:

    FFS

  68. redriderCH says:

    clattenburg is a wanker…

  69. evisu says:

Can we hold the ball for more than 1 sec? Fucking stupid giveaways

  70. matt says:

looks like we are losing our nerve.. scholes to come on for cleverley in the second half

  71. Damu says:

And u fools are saying nani is shit young is worse

  72. kel says:

A bit wasted. If we go in at half time with 0-2. We could have more chance to win.

Now its dangerous. Rooney 2nd yellow card in how many matches cost us.

Hope there is more from us.

  73. The team that wouldn't die says:

Great first 20. Great line up.

Chelsea had to get back. But we lost initiative.

  74. Proverb says:

Carrick and david de gea causing us a lot of problem, but well defended there

  75. evisu says:

Counterattack looks good, but man i dont like chelsea are getting so close to our penalty area, I can see them get an easy pen this game, wankers.

  76. WeAreUnited says:

bit stupid goal from a stupi freekick

    ref is a wanker

I made a prediction that we wil go 2-0 up, and win 2-1. that we will receive a red and be under pressure but still win hahah

i hope i’m wrong and we win 4-1

  77. Marq says:

    @Damu

    Which channel were you watching?

  78. orez says:

Loosing the goal like that wasn’t good obviously, but we needed the break really well and we are still up, not it’s SAF to explain the guys how we are going to win this. It was a really good half though, but we can’t waste our counterattack chances like we did.

  79. calebkzh says:

The lads being very careless with the ball, Evra and Young especially. Young has been largely toothless.

  80. James7t7 says:

Carrick and Cleverly have brought about this panic. The whole ream need to calm down.. They were battering Chelsea..

  81. The team that wouldn't die says:

Scholes will come on at some point. But I think SAF will give the 11 chosen a chance to get back in the 2nd half.

We are in the lead away against the league leaders. Our routine will see us off.

  82. Andromeda says:

We must toughen up and stop giving the call away…this Chelsea storm should be figured out.Anderson, Chica in, young and cleverly out!

  83. WeAreUnited says:

de gea caused one problem and save 4-5 so it’s not him causing anything

chelsji just got better and got that goal they needed

2nd half one goal after the whistle to make 3-1 and i hope it gets better

  84. pablo says:

hate it when we’re defending a fucking lead.we just invite the opposition to attack.if youve got stam vidic bruce pallister or even henning fucking berg thats finebut we aint.that chelsea goal was a goal about to happen.aint confident for the second half unless we keep going forward.our defence is shite

  85. Costas says:

Caught Chelsea napping, but we’ve really lost our shape in the last 15 minutes. Young, Tom and De Gea losing possession way too easily. Should have ended the half 2-0 ahead, but it’s a good thing it wasn’t 2-2. Perfect opportunity for the manager to wake them up.

  86. calebkzh says:

Hope SAF knocks some sense into the players who were trying that fancy backheel flicky stuff. Poor and definitely not what we need against top opposition.

  87. Ash says:

First 25 mins we were ruling but then don’t know what happened to our boys. Surprised to see people are criticizing young eventhough he has been defending better than evra. Our weak link is evra and it is clearly visible.

Still fancy us to win. We had a great opportunity to control this game but now one more goal is badly needed. 3 points should be taken now.

  88. Sgtmartz says:

This game is right for chicharito. With his speed they need to pull their line back and give our mid more time on the ball. Pull Young out and bring in chicharito

  89. Marq says:

Young was indirectly involved for our two goals, and he did exactly what was required of him which is to prevent Ivanovic coming forward

  90. Red Robin says:

Wth with people bashing on Young? He was the one who created our first goal ffs!

  91. dannysoya LOVES USAIN BOLT says:

Excellent first 30. TERRIBLE final 15. We clearly showed that Chelsea have no Defense. why not move up a little bit and keep pressurizing them. Their defense is just pure AIR. we need to stop sitting back too deep.

De Gea is BRILLIANT. NUMBER ONE for me. Mata is just an absolutely brilliant footballer. FANTASTIC free kick. Nothing De Gea could do there. take Cleverley off get Fletcher in there. after some time take Young off get Chicharito on. I will be disappointed if we lose this game.

  92. Marq says:

If anything Cleverley is the one missing in action

  93. chicha chicha says:

Chicha should be on for Young.

  94. redriderCH says:

    c’mon lads…why always slagging our players?????-fucking hate it….fuck ahsley,fuck nani,fuck this and that…c’mon….scholes on for clev….later bring on chicha

  95. Rd5454 says:

Crazy!Who will replace a forward to a winger when we still lead 2-1?l

  96. Costas says:

I think it’s a natural instinct for some to blame everything on Young. I thought he did well. Especially for his first game back after 2 months. He just had to keep a cooler head at cetrain situations. He wasn’t the only one mind you. Once Chelsea gained momentum, almost all our players lost their composure.

  97. Proverb says:

Wonderful goal by mata, he’s really on form there was absolutely nothing de gea could do. But his mistake almost cost us
    Fantastic match nonetheless
We must come out this second half attacking, we just can’t defend against this fluid chelsea attack

  98. Hans says:

What a shame we had to concede that goal!! Also we should have had at least another one.

Anyway, we should now hit them on the break. Another goal would probably kill it!!!

  99. Andromeda says:

Young and Cleverly should have the hair dryer.expect a draw and even worse if we continue defending like that..Roony should be more wise defending, RVP and Valencia!what I can say?both were amazing.in short, we must not allow them to control the game..we have a great chance to win this game..

  100. dannysoya LOVES USAIN BOLT says:

I agree that Young has defended very well. It’s cleverley who has started giving the ball away in killer positions. Get fletch in there. get a third goal. settle it down and then Bring on Chicha later on.

  101. Wee Toms Ligaments says:

United can push forward and get one more before shutting it down and giving a late one away cheaply.

I like the movement by Young and Cleverley. Outstanding starting XI from Sir Alex.

  102. The Devil in Me says:

how the fuck did torres not get sent off for that assult on cleverley?????

  103. Costas says:

Obviously the first order of business is to stop giving away silly set pieces. Chelsea didn’t threaten a lot with the ball on the ground. But once they started winning free kicks, they started putting us under pressure.

  104. chicha chicha says:

Stop conceding freekicks outside the edge of the box guys… plzzzzzzzz

  105. redriderCH says:

    we need scholes control…

  106. Rd5454 says:

    Agree with chicha chicha

  107. Sushi says:

That was a penalty I remember few years back they gave one against Ferdinand or
Vidic for exact same kind of contact

  108. bRed says:

    WTF!!!

Are we intending to play at all?!

  109. dannysoya LOVES USAIN BOLT says:

THAT is what happens when you sit back. FFS.

  110. Sushi says:

    Fucking evra is useless

  111. evisu says:

What a surprise we are sleeping in the start of the half……

  112. Marq says:

    Evans went to sleep…

  113. Redbilly says:

Can’t complain with chelski. Kept plugging away and the lads are not pushing up .

  114. safichan says:

    ashley young is clueless!!!

  115. James7t7 says:

Why do we bother with defenders?????

  116. Rd5454 says:

Fxxk It’s time use attack to defence

  117. calebkzh says:

They are overrunning us like we’re a bottom club.

  118. matt says:

i have to say, the boys seem to be panicking. time to bring on scholes me thinks

  119. Redbilly says:

Lads have the ability to win this . Get some possession up field and attack .

  120. Sushi says:

Every time evra goes up for a header he fucks it up

  121. James7t7 says:

Ref has been a complete blue nose though

  122. AntiScouser says:

Some of you must feel like proper twats now.

  123. Andromeda says:

    We are still in comma…

  124. Léon says:

Just wonderful. Some of our defenders (namely evra) are living the dream. Just go to trainings regularly and you got the place, no matter how you do in the games, or the mistakes you make cost.

  125. Mahesh says:

    Where’s the bottle?!

  126. theredderdevil says:

De gea is a liability. poor distribution and fluffing when clearing, not sure if to use his hands or feet

  127. bRed says:

    Fuck YES!

  128. Marq says:

    Whos the twat now Antiscoucer?

  129. Mahesh says:

    Thank fuck!

  130. Mahesh says:

De gea has also kept us on this!

  131. Sushi says:

Couldn’t young have stayed in his feet? Could have score he’s a bit lanky I guess not
    All graceful

  132. Andromeda says:

Cleverly is out, Chica in.now for the killer

  133. Sushi says:

Ferdinand has been immense even here with racist scum all around him. Evra is a liability period, Evans is not fully concentrated

  134. bRed says:

    Woohoo!!! Fucking prick that ladyboy!

  135. Redbilly says:

Well well well. If we don’t get at least a draw now we want tar and feathering .

  136. evisu says:

    HAHAHAHAHHHA TORRES LOOOL

  137. matt says:

heavy.. torres heaps hard done by.

  138. bRed says:

Come on let’s go for it!

  139. Mahesh says:

    Better win this now!

  140. WeAreUnited says:

now if WE DO NOT WIN

    I WILL CRY

  141. Andromeda says:

    Cant believe it!

  142. mara says:

If we dont beat them now, with one player more on the field…than we are stupid and weak

  143. evisu says:

We are getting saved by the ref BIG time. We better get 3pts now..

  144. Proverb says:

    Anderson please!

  145. mara says:

Sorry 2 players…now it is time for masacar…

  146. Andromeda says:

    @we are united.ditto that

  147. Redbilly says:

    ATTACK ATTACK ATTACK

  148. evisu says:

CHange Rooney im sure he will get a red soon

  149. mara says:

Now, when Roo get second yellow..and i will die :) we got everything…just need to get them..

  150. Proverb says:

    Anderson please!

    Giggs nooooo!!!!

  151. Sushi says:

    Fuck why is giggs in

  152. bRed says:

    YES!!!

But we were really let off!

  153. slayer says:

    Heernannndddeeezzz…..goal!!!!!1

  154. redriderCH says:

    chicharito is a killer!!!!

  155. Imran says:

    CHICHARITO!!!!
right fucking place right fucking time……

  156. Redbilly says:

Commentator: you have to feel for Chelsea. Do you fuck. Ain’t over yet . Come in reds.

  157. evisu says:

Offside goal, can we get more lucky :)

  158. Mahesh says:

Boy the refs sure do like us! please kill this of!

  159. redriderCH says:

torre red card was harsh…but anyway we seem to have the luck at stamford that they had for years….

  160. mara says:

CHICHARITO! That guy is amazing…not playing often…but he is always top!

  161. LoneStarRed says:

    Cool heads finish the task.

  162. Léon says:

Clear offside, way too clear. Count that game for last year.

  163. chicha chicha says:

Yeah. We got our unfair decisions back from Chelski.

  164. Mahesh says:

We don’t look like we’re two men up!

  165. slayer says:

It would be great if we can give a big deficit. Hopefully our defense hold and our strikers will get the job done.

  166. edhardy says:

I just can’t get enough of chicharito!!!!!

  167. Andromeda says:

To be honest I don’t enjoy it..

  168. Mahesh says:

We look pretty poor even two men up just keep the ball!

  169. kel says:

To be honest, the dive is really a dive. Just a little touch and he fall down so frantically. The referee is brave. Really good job.

  170. matt says:

andromeda.. we never got the chance to enjoy it cause torres was incorrectly red carded. had we been bplaying 10 vs 11 like it should be and we scored, we would all appreciate it much more

  171. bRed says:

Very disappointing. We should be attacking relentlessly, piling on the goals. Very lackadaisical attitude throughout, against 9 men.

  172. redriderCH says:

    utd we stand

  173. evisu says:

Yes if thats a red card there would probably be 1-2 red cards every game. But who cares chelski cunts have got away with tons of shit in the past.

  174. OAFC says:

Apparently Mar Clattenburgs’ recent performances gave put Howard Webb in fear of losing his Man U starting place.

  175. Mahesh says:

    Ugh…

  176. matt says:

tony v that has to be the worst shot ive seen in some time

  177. redriderCH says:

compain, complain….chelsea have great players and i think they re the best team in the prem.league so far…so why complaining????-f…part timers

  178. LoneStarRed says:

That was ugly Tony V. You can do better.

  179. evisu says:

Haha TonyV plz, you gotta hit that

  180. RedBorneo says:

Andromeda, yes mate… ref has ruins the game..

  181. Dela says:

Robbed us in 2010… twice…. and again in 2011 at the Bridge, now we’ve got decisions for once, and don’t forget, Chelsea didn’t lead the game at any time.

  182. kel says:

For the past few years, even though we play so well yet we lose to bad decision by the referee.

Finally this time, we got our luck back!

  183. LoneStarRed says:

THREE POINTS! THREE POINTS FROM THE RENT BOYS!

  184. MURebel says:

2 men up on them and they still had more of the ball. We looked like we couldn’t care less when we did have the ball. I just don’t understand why we don’t have the bottle to at least press them for it, and press forward to seal the game off.

  203. Den says:

Nice tactical game from United. Very happy with the 3 points! Just looking forward for the bitterness from Chelsea fans. Ivanovic was a clear red card and Torres was also a second yellow. Slow replays showed there was minimal contact witch Torres probably didn’t even feel. It was offside but the linesman was never going to see that, so close and he was on his way back. A matter of 1/100 of a second.

  204. Foggy United says:

MUREBEL – Your tears taste so sweet!!!!

  205. Marq says:

Tough on Chelsea and Torres, but it was marginally the right call. He was looking for it, and 9/10 times he would have gotten it. Got lucky with the Hernandez goal, but with the 2 man advantage, you would fancy us getting the goal anyway.

That said, I thought even after the goal, they should have gone for the 4th instead of playing keep ball. One instance Rio & Evans collided with each other almost led to Studdrige through.

  206. LoneStarRed says:

MU Rebel… Karma has struck. We have been wronged at the Bridge several times. We finally got some in our favor. Now I think it’s time for your bottle.

  210. Vivek says:

A very good 3 points, albeit a lucky won. I guess this makes up for or years of bad luck at the Bridge. Thanks Mr. Clattenburg.

And looking at the slow motions, you can make a case against Torres. The contact was minimal and was on his left shin, but he goes down clutching his right leg. I think thats what made up Clattenburg’s mind.

And its somehow perversely satisfying to see Chelski fans moan in here. Simply priceless

  211. Dela says:

These things “even themselves out”, that’s what we were told by Chelsea twice in 2010, and once in 2011, so by that logic we’re still due two more? :P

  212. Red Robin says:

Its easy to guess. Chicharito come in at 70 minutes and BAAMM he scores! Kind of Ole-esque, now we have a new supersub! I love him ;)

Is he not offside? Let’s see what newspaper will say in the morning. My blues supporter friends who watched tye game with me all booing the ref. What the hell, three points is a three points to me. And we had more players than them due to their indiscipline players. How can we waste our opportunity to burst chelsea bubbles in their own turf? The look of Abrahamovic face and Di Matteo are priceless. Sturride came in for Hazard? What a desperate tactical change. And we show Hazard which team he should have been chosen. :D :D

I’m also amused that you consistently come onto a united blog after watching a united game.. Seems a bit suspicious that someone who claims to be a MURebel should spend so much time interacting with all things united. But hey, I guess irony is lost on you. Good luck in life bitter.

  228. Costas says:

As for the game, pleased with the win but not with the manner. You want to use these games to make a statement about who’s the better team Clattenberg didn’t allow that to happen with the Torres red. And for the proverbial salt in the wound, the Chicharito goal was offside. It ruins the game and I suspect we will hear a lot of crap from the usual suspects over the next few weeks.

At least the title race is blown wide open now. Lets start improving even further.

  229. WeAreUnited says:

SAF is saying how it is.

We got maybe only one lucky call and it’s the goal.

10 years we haven’t won there, now we know why. They bribe the Ref, and if you want to win there you should play their game.

    CMON!

  230. Red Robin says:

    Eden Hazard useless bastard! Lol.

  231. Dela says:

We lost the league in 2010 to Chelsea BECAUSE of decisions.

When we DESTROYED them at Stamford Bridge, and that bullshit free kick was given against Darren Fletcher, and offside was ignored aswell when it was taken.

Then when we DESTROYED them at Old Trafford only to see Drogba score from a position of about 4 or 5 yards CLEARLY offside, lost it 2-1..

CHELSEA WON THE LEAGUE BY ONE POINT!!

What were we told?? What was the buzz-sentence in the media????

    “THESE THINGS EVEN THEMSELVES OUT”.

Now, EAT YOUR FUCKING WORDS!. You were unlucky in the offside goal… Torres SHOULD have gone for karate kick on Cleverley anyway, and he chose to go to ground, but the yellow was harsh. BTW, Valenica DIDN’T dive for the yellow he was given.

Will they eat their words? WILL THEY FUCK!! Now because it’s in United’s favor, “United are paying the refs”, and all from a club funded by a Russian gangster who stole his money from the state.

    1. Yes, because you know what every fan thinks internally, all hail sir ghandi houdini.

    2. Even when playing against a team with deficit of players, it’s never as easy as trying to “rip them into shreds”. united are playing against a top class team, with brilliant individual players, they could easily expose united on the break and we’d be lambasted for it, it’s even more nerve wracking to see out a win. I agree that united can improve on the sloppy passes and cheap free kicks giveaway/several other aspects but to come out of the bridge with 3points is delightful, not won there for a decade and have more than enough shocking decisions against them. If you can’t be happy then that’d be you and a couple who are never satisfied. Most fans would be happy. The performance wasn’t generally brilliant but chelsea are a great team and will at some point start their own dominance in a game, at home or away. You’re rarely ever going to rip chelsea apart. They’re formidable in every sense and one of the favourites for the title. Regardless of all the mayhem during and after the match, 3points is the name of the game. It could end up being crucial.

  242. WeAreUnited says:

    hahaha ANdromeda

  243. samuel - united WE stand says:

Costas – spot on about chelsea.

  244. KingOfStretfordEnd says:

We had an awesome first 30 minutes. Chelsea came back strong just before the half ended. Rooney’s rash challenged handed them the goal on a platter. Indisputable first red card for denying a clear goal scoring opportunity. I don’t think Torres dived, Evans made contact, Torres made the most of it. Chicharito was offside. We finally win at the bridge. 3 points. One point from the top. Great game. We played well.

    All these statements are facts.

Oh one more. Van Persie is awesome.

  245. KingOfStretfordEnd says:

The ref might have ruined the game, but for 10 years of running away with all the decisions, its time we got some.

And it freaky how the last time we won there in the league was due to a certain Dutchman. And now cos of another Dutchman. :D

  246. KingOfStretfordEnd says:

This whole diving thing. I really don’t think it can be stamped out. In an attempt to do that, you’re gonna victimize players who didn’t dive. Its a discretionary thing, and its going to be liable to discrepancy, so it’s rather impossible to weed it out. And in my opinion, making the most of a challenge doesn’t always mean diving, it playing the game. Like how some players would purposefully run into the paths of others to earn a foul. As much as its annoying, I’m afraid diving is part of the game, and unless we’re gonna acquire some really high technology equipment to qualify a dive, then we’re never gonna remove it. And we can’t anyway, cos refs are humans, and my threshold for diving is different from others and it also puts unnecessary pressure on the refs.

  247. Andromeda says:

    @Samuel
First of all thanks for the response.as for your first point I would like to say, nah I won’t play the role of a psychoanalyst who can read the mind of every united fan but I said that as a precaution and predictively for what I saw.at the end a win is a win no matter how much controversial.we got history and we got everything to be prove of and to be honest I am probably the most diehard united fan you are chatting now but the point is, how much we can say the truth despite all that burning passion..the moral integrity of our club was in the top, I just wanted to retain that DNA.as for your second point, I fully agree with you, Chelsea have got some fantastic players that is not easy to be underestimated under situation.but still we could handle that quantitative deficit better and killed the game.anyway I always want to speak as an optimistic critic but when you see the quality of the premier league this reason you start to worry about the finest detail.hopefully our defensive frailty will be posted out after the likes of Smalling and Jones return to their full fitness

  248. Gandalf says:

Its quite annoying how we tend to completely switch off when we are ahead. But other than that, we did perform well. Impressed with cleverly, rooney with their industry at midfield. Tony V was very average, he was hitting cole’s backside with every cross. RVP and Chico were excellent.
The ref had a bad game. How Torres wasn’t sent off for his tackle on cleverly and how ramires was never even booked I’ll never know. He booked torres and tonyV for diving – both were wrong decisions.
Ashley cole blatantly dived – he was never booked.

For the offside, it is extremely harsh to blame the linesman – cech and three chelsea players were there and it did look onside to naked eye.
Anyways, we won and the bridge curse is broken, that is what matters.
P.S – shame on all chelsea fans who booed Rio.

Hopefully nani will go in the next window, anyone who would prefer him to Ashley young needs to get a reality check.

  252. Brendan says:

  253. denton davey says:

Brendan – I, for one, have consistently preferred Nani to Ashley Young.

Today, however, Ashley Young did well – he was quick, mobile, and back-tracked (which, alas, are things that Nani doesn’t do on a consistent basis).

That said, Nani has much more skill than Ashley Young BUT Nani doesn’t fit in as well with a team that was set up to clog-the-middle and counter-attack-at-speed. Sadly, Nani lets himself (and the team) down by over-complicating matters and slowing things down which frequently allows the defence to re-set themselves.

I was surprised – and pissed-off – that SAF started Ashley Young rather than Anderson. BUT, again, the WilyOldFootieKnight showed why he’s such a greatmanager and I’m sitting in the dark on my computer.

  254. rohitarvindm says:

MURebel, two words for you, you hateful, scouse-arse licking, chav-dick sucking cunt: FUCK OFF !!!

  255. calebkzh says:

A few of my collected thoughts.

    1. Young vs. Nani
Granted, Young did track back to give cover to Evra, but time and time again, Evra was caught out. I’m thankful that Oscar and Mata were hauled off, otherwise, they’d exploit the weakness down our left time and time again.

Nani, of course, may not track back as often, so if we play him down the left, Evra will be exposed like Ashley Cole (see below)

Compare that to the relative solidarity on our right. Rafael and Valencia are clearly building an understanding with each other that’s gona be beneficial for us in the long run. The fact that Hazard/Mata, when on their flank, didn’t track back to help Ashley Cole made it easy for us to exploit that flank.

    2. Cleverley
I’d like to see better from Cleverley in terms of decision making. He’s confident, no doubt, but now he’s overcomplicating his play a tad bit too much, like the attempted backheels and flicks with Young. I hope the gaffer sits him down and tells him to get back to basics again. Possession play in the centre of the park was generally sloppy. We’d get the ball back, only to give it away in two passes.

    3. RvP
What a player. Need I say more? Though he’s an out-and-out striker, his work rate in the game was astounding, giving us the extra body in midfield when we didn’t hold the ball. His touch, spatial awareness and accuracy was special.

That said, there were a couple of opportunities where he was selfish. Think he will grow from this.

    4. Passing
Yesterday’s passing was alright at the beginning, but once Chelski came back in it, you could see the lack of composure. Everyone was rushing to release the ball without gauging properly, or holding it for far too long. There needs to be a greater balance, especially against teams who press us high. I dread the day we have to play against Dortmund or Barca with this level of passing competency. The lads need to buck up as a whole, and show more composure.

    5. Evans
Had a mixed game. Had some good blocks and clearances, but was found napping on more than one occasion. Needs a bit of kicking up the arse, even though we have few options in centre half.

    6. De Gea
Kept us in it. If not for some of his fine reflex saves, we may not have walked away with three points. Nothing he could really do about Mata’s free kick. It was quality, and it was a silly free kick to give away, knowing Mata’s expertise from that area and distance.

    7. Clattenburg.
In the first half, I thought he was a Chelsea player, letting them off for offences and giving soft free kicks. Second half, no doubt he was leaning the other way. It’s just such a pity he spoilt a spectacle of a game with the contentious decision to book Torres for diving.

Sure, I don’t like the ladyboy, but that decision…far from 100% sure. Especially when it’s a potential red card, you have to be 100% sure. I hope the FA does a probe into Clattenburg’s refereeing and decision making. Really poor, no cards when there should be, and far too trigger happy when not sure.
