CONFIRMED Line-Up: City vs United

Team: Van der Sar, Evra, Brown, Evans, Rafael, Anderson, Giggs, Carrick, Fletcher, Valencia, Rooney.
Subs: Kuszczak, Neville, Fabio, Scholes, Park, Owen, Diouf.

FA Cup defeat against Leeds clearly changed the League Cup in Ferguson’s priorities, with him dumping the youngsters in favour of a strong team. Of course, there are the U-21s Rafael, Evans, Anderson and Fabio, but we’ve got an experienced side out there today.

City: Given, Richards, Zabaleta, Garrido, Kompany, Boyata, Wright-Phillips, Barry, De Jong, Tevez, Bellamy
City Subs: Taylor, Onuoha, Sylvinho, Ireland, Petrov, Robinho, Benjani.

Half time update: United boss the first half, with Ryan Giggs taking the lead for United. Antonio Valencia plays in a great ball, which Rooney manages to lift over Given to set up Giggsy with a simple tap in.

Then three minutes before half time, the incompetent Mike Dean awards a penalty for a small tug by Rafael on Bellamy outside the box. Carlos Tevez scored the penalty and after banging on for weeks about his love and respect for United and our fans, celebrated heartily. Tevez is a liar but we already knew that. You should have signed for a big club. Cunt.

City were totally outclassed and outsung for the first 45 minutes, roll on the second half…

Bet whilst the game is live:check out the brilliant odds.

Hmm, I’m never overly happy with I see Wazza playing up there by himself especially when I can’t see him getting too much support from the midfield.

We’ve definitely got a line-up looking for a draw I think but I’m not complaining, I’d be happy with a draw.

    Come on United!

  2. dv-ant says:

rooney not effective in the lone striker upfront on his own role

  3. dv-ant says:

  6. Gotta hate tiny tears says:

    That’s what I said,
Scott your a stat snd facts man when was the last carling cup game Rooney started in

  7. Costas says:

With a league game on Saturday, I think it’s a waste to use Rooney as a lone striker today. We could have used Owen there. Rooney will do a lot of running today.

  8. rooneyisclass says:

    Why is it dissapointing?

  9. Costas says:

    GHTT:

    Against Southend in 2006 mate.

  10. rooney the new king says:

well atleast fletcher is playing, and despite anderson fletcher and carrick has an attack 3 are not great they can be effective in games like this especially anderson, well it still illistrates my point united need a striker

  13. Xyth says:

Come on United. Lets win tonight just to wipe the grins out of the faces of Gary the idiot Lineker, Alan YSB Hansen and Lee Arse Dixon.

  14. Nithin R S says:

Why did SAF bought Owen? He is getting raw deal just as tevez got last season. He scored a hattrick in champions league and ever since he is on bench.Rooney upfront alone, well thats boring football.

AIG, you watching the match? I am not sure if its on any channel

  22. berbatunday says:

it seems a sure way to not get a starting berth this days for united is to score a hattrick from open play!

  23. Gotta hate tiny tears says:

    is it bbc loves city

  29. thereddevil says:

    fuckin get in!

  30. thesavage says:

Another goal now would be good, City will then be chasing the game, they’re already looking a bit headless, lots of running around but United in control.

  31. dv-ant says:

nice work from valencia leading to that goal

  32. manu4life says:

our trusted formation was 442 but but Fergi does not have players to pair upfront both berbatov and owen are rubish

    TEVEZ JUST MISSED A SITTER

  37. Xyth says:

I think we can finish the tie today.
Just need to keep composure and no silly mistakes at the back.

  38. five says:

To indians- The match is on Z Sports as well as Supersport 3

At least it is in Bangladesh.

Glad we set out to kick some ass and gotta love it that its our boy Giggsy whose gone and got the goal!. Wright Phillips pace is worrying tho…Giggs might have trouble tracking back. Later onto the match I wouldnt be surprised if Rooney shifted onto the left side to counter it and Owen or Diouf was sent on to be up front

  39. dv-ant says:

another thing i like about valencia is that hes more than just a speed merchant – he plays with his head alot – hopefully he will start testing keepers a bit more cus hes got a wicked shot on him aswell
    he becomin a good buy

  40. Darius C says:

Eh Tevez get ya fcukin studs off of our Brown u dirty Argie!!!

  41. thereddevil says:

    anderson fuckin useless again!

  42. DEVILisRED says:

this mike dean is a pretty fucked ref isnt he. amazing….

  43. aig alex is god says:

bellamy and Richards are the only city players who look like they can cause us problems

  44. five says:

“fucking useless”? its been half an hour get a grip and support the team why dont you? thats a retarded statement

Evra is an absolute beast I;d just like to add

GHTT: I just caught emilys O’Shea chant, its class haha!

  45. Gotta hate tiny tears says:

how many united players are out there they are attacking the city goal then city on a very quick counter attack and up on the loosing side of a 6 on 2 attack.

  46. dv-ant says:

rmbr those 2 screamers carrick scored when we thumped roma 7-1
y dont we c more like that from carrick – especially in a game like today where he seems to have plenty of time and space with the ball

  47. thesavage says:

I can see another goal coming, United are being given so much space on the ball, we’ve got to press home the advantage and bag another before the break.

  48. Gotta hate tiny tears says:

    fve
thats an old one mate one of the first but thank you for your kind words

  49. Xyth says:

Fucking MIke Dean is giving everything to Shity, even when their fucking players are stumbling to the floor.

  50. five says:

Did Tevez just call Evans a diver? you fucking cunt I hope Jonny twats him!

  51. Xyth says:

Fucking hell,Mike Dean, the son of a bitch !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  52. dv-ant says:

did the ref not bring his cards with him ?
    ffs

  53. thesavage says:

    Dean you total cunt

  54. dv-ant says:

    oh fuk

  55. Xyth says:

The foul was outside of the box!!!!!!!!!!

  56. bchilds says:

Not a fucking chance was that a penalty, no fucking way. Tevez can fuck off too with his hand gestures.

  57. aig alex is god says:

stupidity from rafael.soft but it was a penalty.Good penalty though

  58. DEVILisRED says:

    this is disgraceful.
    feels sick.
    mike dean…..wow, i’m speechless.

  59. james f says:

Mike Dean must be joking. Since when two fouls outside the area equal a penalty?

  60. bchilds says:

It wasn’t a penalty, the foul was outside the box. Rafael was stupid to pull his shirt in the first instance but that still doesn’t disguise the fact is wasn’t a pen.

  61. aig alex is god says:

The foul was outside but it think it continued in the box. not sure though.could be wrong. Anywasy there was no need for rafael to do that.

  62. dv-ant says:

    refs a fukin prick!
tevez shud have been booked atleast twice and gets nothing
and then gives a penalty for an incident outside the box and then gives a yellow to vds and then that shit cunt wanker bellamy get nothin with the nasty tackle on valencia
    refs cant handle the pressue

  63. DEVILisRED says:

    @aig alex is god:
    that is a penalty?
wow….u are equally sick i muz say.

  64. bchilds says:

    @AIG

Nah, Rafael definitely let go before Bellamy entered the penalty area.

  65. Toms says:

Going to say this because someone’s going to complain if we don’t win but… we look damn good. Good hunger, good passing, good energy even a bit of a spark (from what i’ve seen). I really rate rafael even after the PK.

  66. dv-ant says:

    fukin awful ref’ing

  67. aig alex is god says:

    DEVILisRED

i corrected myself and said i could be wrong.Looks like i was wrong.

  68. TheRadLegion says:

    Tevez a cunt, nuff said

  69. hurr says:

Why are we defending more than attacking? Honestly? And Rafael conceded another stupid penalty although questionable. He really needs to stop this bad habit of body checking people and pulling at people who outpace him.

  70. Costas says:

That wasn’t a penalty because Rafa’s foul outside the box is what took that piece of shit down.

  71. Xyth says:

Rafael was not holding the City cunt inside the box.

Mike Dean should be …. whatever.

  72. TheRadLegion says:

12 players.. 12 players.. shitty has 12 players

  73. aig alex is god says:

    bchilds

yeah saw the replay. was a freekick and probably a booking. Definitely not a penalty. initially it looked like the foul continued in the box, but it didnt

  74. TheRadLegion says:

I wish Valencia whacked that stupid looking cunt

  75. Maik says:

This is utter bs… Mike Dean needs to get his eyes checked. First no card for Tevez, then that “penalty”, and then no cards for Bellamy. Really?

  76. bchilds says:

    @Toms

Yes I have to agree, we look up for it, hungry and have played some really good stuff. Completely bossing the midfield, it’s a pleasure to see United playing well.

I really hope the penalty doesn’t alter the mood for the second half.

  77. Costas says:

Two things about Tevez. 1) Not surprised that he celebrated despite stating the opposite pre game. 2) He is a bigger twat than I thought for shoving Evans like that and then accusing him of diving!

  78. Rooney22United says:

god i wanna imprint my knuckles on Mike Dean’s rat ass face.. Bellamy is a little fuck, what happened to the Tevez i won’t celebrate if i score against United crap…?

  79. mauly says:

Thought Twat Tevez said he wasn’t gonna celebrate.. more proof he’s a lying bastard..

Must admit tho, enjoying the game…

    Come on Reds

  80. Mahesh says:

Tevez is without doubt a despicable, bitter character.

  81. thesavage says:

Personally I’d like to wring Dean’s scrawny fucking neck right now, that was a dismal decision that’s changed the game significantly in City’s favour, they’ll come out all guns blazing in the second half, I only hope that United can get back into things as they’ve played pretty solidly so far, that said, they really need to create more chances.

  82. Costas says:

Oh what a joy it was to see Valencia own that Welsh bastard!

  83. mags the red says:

How the hell can VDS be booked for making the Argentinian git wait & that thug Bellamy get away with 2 nastly niggly fouls in the space of a minute – since when are you allowed to put yer elbows into someones throat – Dean is weak!

Come on Reds – attack the blue arseholes & stick it up them! … AND MIKE DEAN!

  84. bchilds says:

    @AIG

Yea when I saw it live I thought he tugged Bellamy’s shirt outside and then inside but clearly it didn’t continue into the box.

That doesn’t let Rafael off the hook though, he should know better than to pull his shirt at all.

Never mind, we’re playing really well so I’m too disappointed.

  85. Toby says:

even the beeb are saying it wasnt a penalty. when the beeb says things in uniteds favour, you know theres something not right.

    fucking scummy bastards.

i hate craig bellemy, horrible twat.

  86. TheRadLegion says:

I just don’t understand, why Tevez was so excited scoring from a penalty. Meh, I could even score from a penalty kick. What’s so special about it.

  87. nitamar says:

Lil Rafael looks really sad and sick. Come lads we’ve been dominating. Goals still coming for us!!

  88. Costas says:

Tevez so far has accused on former teamate of diving and he went with his foot high on another

Yeah you really respect your former club.

  89. mags the red says:

Tevez = low life with very limited intelligence or class. Owned by someone else who sells him like a piece of meat… couldn’t expect anything else from him.

Don’t worry Reds – we’ll be waiting for him at Old Trafford!

  90. Xyth says:

    @TheRadLegion
Absolutely. Without the 12th player Shity have no hope.

Not only he gave nonexistent penalty, but he cant wait to blow his whistle to give them free kicks. Why he did not book Bellamy for two deliberate fouls with 30 seconds?!

Anyway, come on United, we can win this.

  91. bchilds says:

Argh, I love being this pumped up. The adrenaline is pumping through my veins, brilliant!

Come on United, fucking murder the bitters.

If we play like we did in the first we have a great chance of winning this game.

  92. nikechap says:

the 2 good things is the 1st half -Sir Giggs tap in and Valencia’s whack on that Shitty goon..

  93. aig alex is god says:

My only worry is it will affect the lads mentally and we could see a different city in the 2nd half.Seems that was the tonic city needed. Shame it came from the refree.

  94. Mitko Berbatov says:

Wow, how many times have Anderson, Carrick, and more often than not Fletcher given the ball away and cat make a cutting through ball. That only leaves open wingplay with Valencia and a Ryan Giggs whose age is showing. Wish we had a Keano or someone who would take on City in the midfield.

  95. Costas says:

Off for the second half. We must do better at the final third.

    Come on UNited!

  96. bchilds says:

    @nitamar

Yea you could see Brown & Evans having words with Rafael, he shouldn’t be pulling his shirt anyway but hopefully he doesn’t let it affect his game because he’s been pretty solid up to that point.

  97. Rooney22United says:

not in a million fukin years was that even a consideration for a penalty. Mike Dean clearly had that eager face to give Shity a peno.. what a dipshit.

  98. Fze123 says:

Hate the fucker Mike Dean. How the hell was that a penalty, the fouls were outside the damn box. You gotta feel sorry for Rafael though, he always seems to be the one to give penalties away. What a soft penalty it was though. We’ve started the game brilliantly, but after the twat scored we have stopped attacking. I want to see Owen or Diouf upfront with Rooney, who is again having a torrid game as a lone striker. Hope Valencia plays better in the second half, after his cross for Giggs’ goal he’s been triple marked and is getting frustrated because he can’t get a cross in. Come on reds, lets get this over and done with.

  99. slim says:

hope diouf comes on , the young defender city have got is there to be taken. a little muscle to rough him up

  100. BRIO THE KENYAN RED says:

We’re playing well.the ref is a fucking cunt.why book Vds & let the cunt bellamy off the hook with that awful challenge on valencia?rafael has had a more than decent game.i cant blame anyone,i wont blame anyone even if we draw.

  101. bchilds says:

    @AIG

I don’t think it will, if anything it might pump up the United players who will be furious about the penalty given. Our boys have been spot on so far, I don’t expect that to change.

  102. bchilds says:

Right, here we go with the second half. Come on United!

    LUHG

  103. Wazza says:

Just what city needed..inspiration..once they have the confidence of referee with them, they can really throw it at United. I wouldn’t be surprised to see the red card being shown to someone today.
Anyone know any good source for match updates? BBC is shite..The author eats his own words to say that the penalty was justified.
The Match Tracker on the official site takes forever, just “waiting for data”.

    Please help, anyone?

  104. dv-ant says:

hope raphael dont get himself sent off now cus am sure shitcunt bellamy is gonna giv him a hard time

  105. NBI Red Onion says:

Just got off work – guys what channel is this on live – in England for the avoidance of doubt! Thanks!

  106. Mitko Berbatov says:

    Wazza,

    Try soccernet.com

  107. Xyth says:

Tevez, better not show his ugly face at Old Trafford.

Another thing, it is disgraceful how all clever dicks commenting, across all TV channels are so shamelessly anti United.

  108. DEVILisRED says:

    @AIG:
i posted before seeing ur correction.
overall, a very composed performance from our lads in the 1st half. not too many chances created though. Shitty are pretty dangerous with their dead ball into the box, need to be careful. with a fucked ref in charge today, taking a draw back is not too bad. But gutted really with the penalty, feeling real sick.

  109. dv-ant says:

still not over though – still gotta come to gold trafford

  110. Rooney22United says:

How do you expect Rooney to play well when he’s ‘sandwiched’ by 3 Shity players every time he TOUCHES the ball..!!!

  111. Tony Starks says:

rafael is always a candidate for giving penalties away – its so easy to get past him cos he’s always too tight, then he just pulls the guy back – he does it so often.. needs to be more clever like the guy on the other side, but time is on his side

now we got an excuse cos however crap the second half performance is, it will be easy just to blame the ref… we need to be bigger than that

  112. NBI Red Onion says:

Also is the game live on internet ?

  113. Tony Starks says:

we are such a boring team to watch these days…

  114. Rooney22United says:

@NBI Red Onion, yeah go to myp2p.eu you’ll find a link, need to download a software though (very light)

  115. Gudjohnsen says:

That was never a penalty. It was a free kick outside the box, the tugging stops inside the box and Bellamy falls way after.

I don’t understand why Bellamy and Tevez haven’t been booked yet.

Bellamy drove into Valencia, then straight afterwards he tackled Rafael and when Dean was giving him a talking to he was shouting something back at the Utd players. Fu*king cunt.

Tevez shaved Brown’s knee with his boot.

Can’t wait to see those idiots get their greetings at Old Trafford…

  116. Colbert says:

Anyone a lip reader here? Would be very interested to know what Rooney said to Tevez before the penalty. He looked very angry and is obviously not impressed with the mong.

  117. portugueseprincess says:

    Mike Dean is an idiot!

  118. Rooney22United says:

i think Mike Dean had a quick fuck with Bellamy, the cunt is getting away with all the cheap fouls.

  119. Xyth says:

Dean is becoming a total disgrace!!!!!!

  120. Bebeto says:

Oh dear.. what the fuck was that by Richards? I can’t believe we were linked with him. Not only is he shit, he’s a diving twat.

  121. manu4life says:

am sweating now evra is our best performer this season and we should not risk him for this cup

  122. Wazza says:

This should be a good game for rafa, learning wise. Lesson to be learnt, even if not completely his fault. Though, love the tackles by him. I hope his game doesn’t get too affected in the second half. Maybe fletch can help him shit on bellamy!

    @Mitko Berbatov:
Thanks mate! much better than bbc!

  123. bchilds says:

It would be good to know what Giggsy and the Argie cunt were sharing a joke about, they seemed on good terms whatever it was.

  124. portugueseprincess says:

Actually I will take that back. Mike Dean is a C* .

  125. mags the red says:

Dean is a blue nose tosser! Every decision going to the bitters!

  126. Che Guevarist says:

Dean Ashton’s is acting like City’s pimp.

  127. Gandalf says:

The referee seems to be blowing everytime for City… Micah Richards dived and the commentator says – sent tumbling. Seriously, do there people even have eyes and a brain?

  128. Rooney22United says:

United looking demotivated.. who wouldn’t after all the injustice they get from little fuck Mike Dean.

  129. Chep says:

will anyone tell Ferguson we do not take the corners well? I think he cannot see it. and that`s not this game, it has been like this whole season. shamefull really

  130. portugueseprincess says:

Dear me, my heart skipped a beat…

  131. dv-ant says:

if we loose this will be expecting a rant from fergi about how poor the ref is

  132. Tony Starks says:

@Rooney22United – Mate you don’t win the Championship 3 times in a row if you get demotivated everytime a decision goes against you.. whatever you say about our players they do not let these things affect them on the pitch…

  133. manu4life says:

    Nani for giggs?

  134. bchilds says:

    @dv-ant

I’m expected one win, lose or draw after that penalty decision. I just hope it doesn’t cost him that touchline ban, or does that warning from the FA even count as it’s the Carling Cup and not League?

  135. Xyth says:

Carrick, Fletcher and Anderson need to find their passing range fats.

  136. Tony Starks says:

if only Valencia had a left foot!

  137. Chep says:

Mike Dean is a disgrace. does Belamy need to broke someones leg to get booked?

  138. NBI Red Onion says:

    Match also live on http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/8468503.stm

COME ON UTD!!!! ROONEY WILL SCORE!

  139. NBI Red Onion says:

    FUCK! Tevez scored!

  140. bchilds says:

I really hope Wazza gives Tevez a fucking whack, what a cunt. I hope someone makes him pay at Old Trafford.

  141. 20legend99 says:

Mike Dean is fucking pathetic, and we look shit.

  142. Xyth says:

Yet again, Dean gifts them a non existent corner from which they score.

Has he got any decency in him?

  143. Tony Starks says:

of course – ITS THE REFS FAULT again isn’t it? We deserve this we are playing into their hands

  144. Gandalf says:

Poor poor defending, common United sort it out.

  145. zapruder77 says:

any chance we might have a shot soon!!

  146. Colbert says:

What the fuck was that? Pathetic defending.

  147. Tony Starks says:

o how ironic…. it feels so so so sick to have him score twice… so so sick…

  148. Che Guevarist says:

Let’s put on Owen and hope for 6 min of injury time.

  149. Colbert says:

    @TonyStark

We ARE playing it into their hands. Very frustrating.

  150. james f says:

Tony Starks, do yourself a favour and support some other team, please.

  151. bchilds says:

Our players have more class, he’s going to feel like such a cunt when we knock the bitters out the cup at Old Trafford.

  152. Tony Starks says:

we need some pace, bring that diouf on – come on they got two crap CB’s and we have not even challenged them – like I say we deserve everything we get so far…

  153. thesavage says:

Time to get tiny Michael on

  154. slim says:

this feels like a big joke

  155. Fze123 says:

We don’t seem to recover after going behind. This has been the story of our season. Oh, why didn’t Fergie play 2 strikers up front??!! It would have made Rooney’s life so much easier.

  156. NBI Red Onion says:

OK now I am pissed off. Honestly this is a bit shit. What happened to Hargreaves a holding midfielder would not go amiss. Doesn’t look like he will be coming back any time soon if ever.

  157. Colbert says:

Maybe we should get on Diouf or Owen and really go for this. Rooney needs more support.

  158. Ulster Red says:

we have went to utter shite, but everything will be ok, aye right

  159. Sayyid says:

What does SAF persist with this crap negative 4-5-1 formation

    Total disgrace

72mins gone…what is he waiting for???

  160. mags the red says:

Going from bad to worse. Typical United display in a key game this season. Fallen apart as an attacking force & no leadership out there.City are shite & they are making us look poor second half

  161. rooninho says:

    come on mickey o! believe!

  162. Davey Mc says:

Owen on!!! Come on mike lets fuck them over!!!

  163. slim says:

i really dont get this, why these boys do not turn up .
i dont get why they dony want to play, owens on, figers crossed

  164. Sayyid says:

    we are a joke

    5 games in a row

    totally pathetic

    no desire to win

    we deserve to lose

  165. Tony Starks says:

@james f – why? should I be happy or something?

  166. mags the red says:

why do we insist on woeful away swinging coners?
    (a) they don’t threaten the goal or cause any panic
    (b) If you don’t win the first header you are immediately on the back foot

Swing the bloody thing in under the bar!

  167. 20legend99 says:

Fuck’s sake, get ready for the papers tomorrow. We look like complete shit.

  168. manu4life says:

clear out in the summer, hargrevs(sorry but not playing), carric, owen, park, schols giggs nevel(all retire).

  169. Sayyid says:

Brown shouldnt get anywhere near the team in the future

  170. james f says:

    @Tony Starks
Games last 90 minutes. And this game will last for 90 more. At Old Trafford, where things will be very different.

  171. Sayyid says:

Boy is Rooney so crap on one on ones

  172. bchilds says:

I’m quite surprised by the level of negativity, ok we haven’t been the same team in the second half as we were in the first but we’ve been ok.

I certainly don’t agree that our players are showing no desire, I think they are showing bucket loads of desire.

I suppose that’s what football is all about though, varying opinions.

  173. dv-ant says:

    fukin hell rooney

  174. Che Guevarist says:

    manu4life

Im not surprised by such comments when it comes from someone with such a name. manu. pftt

  175. Gandalf says:

Our passing has been woeful second half – what the hell is going on?

  176. Chep says:

Evans and Brown – poor poor. is there any better english word to reflect their performance? and they were poor on last saturday as well, however it was not so much exposed as today

  177. jamal says:

Same old story.. big game, united go ahead, then, as if by magic the ref makes a shite decision and we capitulate..

The refs decision is by no means an excuse but for fuck sake whats happening to united?? were just shit at the minute..

negative 4-5-1 with rooney upfront alone who has lost all his ability to beat a keeper in one on one situations.. WE NEED CREATIVITY!.. its all good and well having the likes of fletch in there to graft but who is gonna slice the defence with that ‘killer ball’ ??

where is zoran tosic for fuck sake.. something new a fresh is what we need, new energy.. we look extremely one dimensional..

SORT IT OUT SIR ALEX, I KNOW YOUVE GOT IT IN YOU!

  178. Sayyid says:

VDS: indecisive for the second goal
    Rafeal: too naive in defence
Evans: cannot pass to save his life
    Brown: just a joke
    Evra: brilliant as usual
    Giggs: played well
Ando: why is he in the team? cant score or assist
    Carrick: solid
    Fletcher: solid
Rooney: played ok, expect better finishing
    Owen: changed the game already

  179. Tony Starks says:

the negativity is because this is City and Tevez – it hurts like hell so far – come on boys please turn it round – can’t have that git having the glory…

  180. dv-ant says:

    fukin hell!
    good save from given though

  181. mags the red says:

Why the fuck do we wait until we are losing before battering them? Stick it up em for 90 minutes boys – CITY ARE SHITE!

  182. Colbert says:

Great combinations between Owen and Rooney. And they can’t play together?

  183. Davey Mc says:

we’ve got ten mins, and 90 next week. so come on boys!!!

  184. james f says:

There’s only one crap team out there, and it’s not wearing red.

  185. bchilds says:

    @Sayyid

Come on pal, that’s an over-reaction if I have ever seen one.

I’d take 2-1, we have a great chance of turning it around at Old Trafford if it doesn’t get any worse. Besides, this is United, it quite possibly will get better.

  186. Gandalf says:

Good shot from Rooney and encouraging couple of minutes. We need to up the tempo for the last 10 mins and get a draw minimum.

  187. Chep says:

@mag the red: but we are bigger shit today

  188. Xyth says:

We should have been 2 goals up by now.
    Come on guys.

  189. Tony Starks says:

thats what i mean – they are crap but we gave them too much respect – of course the tie ain’t over but I hate losing any game to the new City! Very impressed with Owen and Rooney combo – I thought they could not play together?

  190. Sayyid says:

    @james

they are crap…yet we are losing…what does that say about us

6mins to go maybe another 3 added…3 chances and we’ll score 1 im sure

  191. james f says:

Evra is gigantic. How can he perform like this every time?

  192. Colbert says:

Rooney is playing his heart out. Come on United!!

  193. Che Guevarist says:

    Colbert

Agreed. Rooney and Owen should be used together more often.

  194. Toms says:

I can live with this team. Financial crisis… can’t buy people…. tougher and tougher challenges for titles… but I can live with the football played by our 11. (though I wouldn’t mind rio or vidic in with evans and some years on rafael)

  195. Red Dave says:

Well done Dean. City’s outstanding man by a mile. He’s let City players do whatever they wish and by Christ they’ve some crude players. DeJong, Richards, Garrido – just a set of thugs. And the softest penalty seen all season. We’ll win the second leg if we have a proper referee instead of a twat.

  196. Colbert says:

Mike Dean = Grade A Cunt. Won’t give us anything unless he has to.

  197. Mitko Berbatov says:

Sell the best player in the world for only 80 million! You can be rich!

*Warning – side effects may include: not being that good when it counts against rivals; holes that were covered in midfield are now exposed; greedy foreign owners that don’t provide funds to fix it; and a manager who will blame the ref anytime a contentious game is lost.

That sums up the 2009-10 season unfortunately.

  198. bchilds says:

    Tony, Tony, Tony

  199. Xyth says:

We were two or three times in a good positions, yet final ball is letting us down.

  200. mags the red says:

Chep – we made City look good after we went ahead. We should have kept pushing them back & attacking them. A second goal before half time & they would have crumbled. Look at what we are doing to them in last 10 mins.

  201. manu4life says:

    Che Guevarsh

you defended djemba djemba and belion before so i understand why

  202. bchilds says:

Anyone know if away goals count?

  203. aig alex is god says:

    Just one question

why do we have to go behind to prove we can play some football?. whenever we are behind we play really well. shame we couldnt do it before today

  204. Tony Starks says:

well at least City will know they in for a hell of a second leg at OT

  205. mags the red says:

Despite the shocking middle part of the game this is a travesty if City win – we should have battered them. Tactics let City off the hook. Stuff em at Old Trafford boys!

  206. dv-ant says:

    fukin shay given

  207. Che Guevarist says:

    manu4life

Wow. Such an amazing answer, I’m very impressed. (Sarcasm if your plastic fan brain can actually process the meaning of this word)

Giggs scored the goal today and is a legend and you’re not the one who’ll decide when he retires.
    And hargreaves will come back.

And Owen performs if you give him play time.

  208. Ulster Red says:

disgrace, thats all i can stomach to say

  209. aig alex is god says:

Congrats to CIty,Carlos Tevez and Mike dean for helping them. Wont be easy in the 2nd leg with city’s pace on the break.Away goals do count.

Carling Cup dosent matter anyhow to me but then i live far away from manchester and the fans in Manchester will understand better how much this derby exactly means even though it may be the carling cup

  210. jamal says:

TOO LITTLE TOOOO LATE.. PLAY WELL FOR THE LAST 5 MINUTES.. WHAT ABOUT THE WHOLE REST OF THE SECOND HALF LADS???????

  211. Chep says:

why do we need to be behind to start really playing? anyone?

  212. berbatunday says:

ROONEY best game this season for me, he shld be MOTM

  213. hurr says:

Fucking bullshit! The whole lot of them! We can’t score from corners, we can’t score from set pieces, we can’t fucking score from open plays. Fucking pieces of shit!

  214. DEVILisRED says:

mike dean 2 man utd 1

  215. bchilds says:

Fucking fucking fuck, really pissed off AGAIN this season. No doubt the penalty changed the game but there we go.

I can understand people complaining about the quality of our game etc but the comments about our team lacking desire are well off the pulse, I am thrilled with the amount of effort our lads put it, they worked their balls on.

Am confident of getting through the tie, the facht that Citeh have won the first leg will make them feel even sicker when we knock them out at Old Trafford.

  216. mags the red says:

Too little too late unfortunately. Let’s hope SAF sends them out to play on the front foot for the whole 90 minutes next week- just once this season it would be nice to see a full 90 played at high tempo – we have to knock these tossers out!

With 2 up front we looked so much more dangerous & it gave Roon the chance to terrorise the shitty defence – go for it Ferguson… shove it right back down Tevez throat!

  217. aig alex is god says:

    @costas & ghtt

Lucky manager?. remember what i said to you guys during christmas when you said mancini wont understand the importance of this derby. He is new. He will get luck and when things dont go the right way he will be told to fuck off

  218. DebRed says:

    We lost
    SOB Tevez scored
    Penalty was a disgraceful desicion
    But
    United is improving,
One striker policy has to stop, I dont know why Sir Alex is persistent on it.
This is by far a better United performance for some time
    Take heart fellas!!!

  219. Costas says:

Ok, how many times are we going to watch the same shit? Yes, Mike Dean screwed us. But why the hell are we so wasteful? They should have lost the way we battered them in the final 15 minutes.

  220. james f says:

You all remind me of Greek supporters, who want heads to roll after each defeat. This is Manchester United you’re talking about. And there won’t be any Mike Dean in the second game.

  221. RedDevilzAdvocate says:

Mike Dean is a bastard, the corner that led to Tevez’s goal should never have been given in the first place, bloody cunt. I’m impressed with the performance of the boys for the first time in a long while, they played with real heart today and the tie is not over. Given was immense too. Lets kill ‘em at Old Trafford. Glory Glory Man United!

  222. sanchez says:

wat the fuck is owen doing?? bring him on at 2nd half did’nt change the game!! suppose to bring on diouf..he is hungry to strike more!! man utd is 1 man show team..pity to rooney..midfield did’nt help him at all….wake up sir alex!!!

  223. Mitko Berbatov says:

When is the next leg? Can’t wait for it.

  224. dv-ant says:

shay given pulled of some good saves to keep em in it

  225. Colbert says:

We’ll beat those cunts at home with a proper referee. We’ll get to the final.

I will say this though; why is it that we this season CANNOT score when we go behind? We are dilly dallying far too much instead of just shooting and crossing first time. We’re becoming a bit like Arsenal at their worst sometimes this season. Too many combinations and playing too difficult. Today is maybe not the best example of this (though we did not score in this game either) because we had such a huge amount of pressure and played rather well. But we couldn’t manage to get the ball in the net again. I think maybe a reason contributing to this, along with plain bad luck and poor play, is that instead of Queiroz we now have Mike “Yes Boss” Phelan as assistant manager. He is an idiot and certainly not as good an assistant as Queiroz. Queiroz was a master at organizing the defence and had huge responsibilities. Our Portugese/Spanish speaking players performed better when we had him as well. And he was strong enough to dare to give Ferguson a different point of view and was therefore a huge resource to us. Something Mike Phelan is not. I’m not blaming the loss on Phelan of course, but I would much rather have someone like Queiroz as assistant manager, someone Ferguson actually can benefit from.

Utterly disappointed. We should not have lost that match.

  226. bchilds says:

    @james f

Not all of us pal, don’t put us all in that category!

  227. Che Guevarist says:

I think the one lesson we can take from today’s match is that our old swagger is not dead, it’s just resting in the 4-4-2 system. I hope we play 2 upfront from the start and murder them at OT.

  228. slim says:

look disjonted and it difficult to play as a unit. i thought rooney did okay, there was no cohesion between the guys and it would have been nice if diouf came on a bit earlier.
TBH fuck knows whats going on, we could have taken these guys and shipped a couple of goals, but once again we didnt show up, adding salt to a gaping wound, tevez was on hand to score twice against us.m Fuck ‘em though, i still dont miss him. i dont know i’m done done for tonight i trust you guys will keep the fire burning until tomorrow, i’m off to bed

  229. rooney the new king says:

what have we learned from tonight

    – tevez has proven my point he is a CUNT

    - the officials and the ref are a complete joke

    - tevez bumboy bellamy is a CUNT

    - the commentator really pissed me off even more

    - united were robbed

  230. mags the red says:

James f – not all of us pal. I’m not looking for heads to roll just intensely frustrated cos we had far better players out there than shitty. We had the bitter blue tossers there for the taking & let em off the hook. We could have stopped their pathetic gloating when we all go in to work tomorrow. Sad bastards the lot of em!

8 days to wait before I expect it put right!

  231. fooart9 says:

rooney and owen partnership is awesome…
bring on citeh with this partnership next week…
and please someone polish up their finishing please…we create load of chance but could not convert…

  232. manu4life says:

    Che guevarsh

when does hargrevs returns in 2020? park, carric owen berbatove have no place in any of the top four. i have seen the best united team over the years and this squad is average.

  233. fooart9 says:

youve been watch best united team over the years yet your nick is manu4life…

u r really GREAT in art of lying mister

  234. bchilds says:

    @rooney the new king

Agree with you there pal, the commentator was a prick tonight. I am getting seriously bored with the ‘Fergie Time’ nonsense that gets spurted about every single time the 4th official indicates what the stoppage time was.

Also everytime there was a close-up of Tevez he would suggest that “this is what you could have had”, do people not understand that we DID make a bid for Tevez but the asking price and wage demands were too high we weren’t prepared, quite rightly, to be held to ransom.

Also the comment that when Wastelands went quiet that “It’s as quiet as Old Trafford” really hacked me off, if such comments were made against any other football club they would be frowned upon.

    Fucking ABUs piss me off.

  235. MG says:

Not one for making comments against refs but:

I mean we played Arsenal in August and Wenger made those comments back then about Fletcher

Why the fuck is it that every ref is out to get him?

I pity the fools – Mike Dean should just say that he got the penalty wrong – the corner that led to the second goal was a 50/50 decision – that was the only fault that we made in the game

Again Given kept them in the game

Who says Rooney and Owen can’t play? – let Owen be unleashed SA!

I think we played really well – sad that we lost but there you go when shit is happening.

I have something for you lot to read please answer back

    @di especially
I’m working on it – I’m just writing anything at the moment so bear with me
    1 million fans x 1000 1b or
    2million fans x 500 1b
    It must be kept equal:
After the club is bought each and every fan is bound to the club and can only sell his share out to a fellow fan for the value that he bought it out for and must notify the club. No fan can sell his share for any profit to any company or owner who wishes to pursue buying the club undertaking an oath that if he or she does so then they automatically loose any share they possess and that the share becomes invalid and that it becomes useless. Other fans will be given an opportunity to invest – again every fan is equal –
Every fan will be treated equally – the ownership of the club is based on sentimental value not on any financial terms what-soever – when signing up this is to be be part of an historic precedent that the biggest club in the world is in the hands of the fans that adore it and love it and are willing to protect it from any further buy out. Consequently this will become a family run club with all the mechanics and the structure of the club in place. The CE will run the club and the manager will run the team. After the initial buy out each member is bound to a supporting fee of no more than hundred pounds (figure to be agreed upon).
In return the club has a right to charge for membership but the fee must be fair. Ticket prices must be bought to a level of acceptance and any ticket season holder does have the right to opt out of any cup game which now they must attend to without any question. The club cannot make such decisions upon itself so it must invoke the following:
MUST must have a member on the board in order to keep the fans up to date with what is happening at the club on a daily basis – as does the Republik of Mancunia – so therefore we nominate Scott the red to equally be available.
Every season five members (numbers to be decided) must be allowed voluntarily to OT to oversee that the club is being run to the standards that the fans wish – it is also necessary that at no time any fan has a right to have a say in matters of the CE or the Manager. We should be present to make sure that the club is in good health financially and morally. The decisions to choose such members rests with the club or by a means of a lottery.
We are all equal and we must be bound by that equality forever. In the case of a United fan passing way – his/her share automatically passes on to a nominated United fan in the family. Everything is kept as simple and as clear as possible.
It is our attention to raise the intent of buying our club from as many fans as we can from our country. After this we must roll out a plan to contact every United supporters trust from all around the world.
After the initial intent which must be signed up to – every United fan must be ready to pay into an account which will be over looked by a professional in order for honesty and to comply with every regulation regarding an eventual takeover. Everything will be done according to transparency – no United fan will be left in the dark – everything will be co-ordinated in order under one single banner – which as of yet is still in the works. However contact will be made with MUST and RedCafe and of course we will lead from this blog.
Again we would also need a link where we can all sign up on this intent and of course agree upon which route we are taking – 1 million (1000 each) fans for a billion or 2 million (500 pounds each) fans for a billion.
We need to do this – I believe we can set a precedent and change the course of our club forever – please better this proposal

  236. King Eric says:

Oh my god. I just knew the old “we need Quieroz back” old chestnut would come out. We only need to win 1-0 at Old Trafford. It will be a very different game at home. The tie is far from over. I wish I could have afforded to go so I wouldn’t have had to put up with the blatant abu cunt commentating on the BBC. Disgusting.

  237. Colbert says:

    “manu4life”

Take your mong spelling, idiotic views and shit nickname somewhere else twatface.

  238. MG says:

    @bchilds

Can’t beat the one when they were constantly saying the tide is turning from the red side of Manchester to Blue

That is so fucking funny I mean can they buy 18 premierships and 3 Cl’s etc within a season?

Please do – I mean apparently that’s how I understand it – fucking twats

  239. King Eric says:

bchilds – I agree the gloating commentator was a disgrace. Rubbing the judas in United’s faces everytime he appeared on screen every 3 seconds. Tevez is one embittered little man so suits them fucker’s to the ground. Regarding the “it sounds like Old Trafford ” comment he wasn’t implying that OT was quiet but all you could hear was the United end.

  240. Xyth says:

The ref was their 12th man no doubt about that and penalty did change the complexion of the match, but we have to be fair to ourselves and admit the we have only ourselves to blame for the defeat.

We are not showing enough urgency. Again at times we were casual. City were there for taken, especially the way they played in the first half. Had we pushed harder when we went one up, we would have finished the match there and then. Yet again, we did not make use of our possession on the final third of he pitch. Our midfield players passing was extremely inaccurate and we were lacking composure before their goal. Fair play to Rooney, he was immense. He did not deserve to loose. (I suppose on another night he may gave had a hat trick).

As for our center backs. What can one say? Not much really. When are they going to learn to defend corners. Come on they are international players. Why did they have to go barging at near post needlessly. Had they kept their normal positions the twat would not have scored.

All is not lost. We should be able to overturn this deficit at home. If we play with the same urgency that we played last 10 minutes tonight, we will be OK. Hopefully Rio and Vidic will return by then.

For the second leg, Fergie should fire the team up as if this was their last match ever. We lost this battle, we should not allow to lose the war !!!!

  241. Colbert says:

    King Eric

I was just pondering why we can’t mount a comeback this season. Why do you think that is? I was talking about that issue specifically, i’m not saying that if we had Queiroz we would be playing much better generally, but yes I do think that we would better equipped to change a game if we still had him. He was very hands on and hage a large amount of responsibility. We just don’t seem to have a well though out plan B this year and Queiroz was very good at helping Ferguson to construct a game plan. But he’s not here anymore so I guess it’s a moot point (or moo point as they say).

That joke was for your pleasure, Eric:p

  242. bchilds says:

    @King Eric

Was it really? Totally missed that point! Thanks for clearing that up, after hearing so much shit being thrown Uniteds way I immediately assumed everything was an insult towards us!

  243. bchilds says:

    Colbert

We came from behind away to Tottenham, ok this was ages ago and we conceded very early on but we were fantastic that day and didn’t let the fact we went behind affect us.

Also, admittedy fortuitously, Arsenal at Old Trafford, coming back to beat Citeh in the League, Wolsburg (I think), Sunderland, CSKA Moscow.

Ok this has been no-where near vintage United but we still have, more often than not, the hunger, desire and determination to succeed.

  244. Drew Vader says:

    Well said Colbert

  245. Colbert says:

    bchilds

Agreed about the Tottenham match. We really were fantastic that day. I just wish we could play with that kind of swagger more regularly. How many matches have we lost by a single goal this season? 7, 8? It’s the games against Burnley, Villa and Fulham that have disappointed me the most. It has happened way too often that we have lost without reply this season. And lost matches we really shouldn’t have, like today and against Leeds, because of inept finishing and that killer touch that we always have in our best times.

Maybe I’m just being too negative but it is worrying how often we don’t have an answer to a bad situation. For example, in 07/08 we could always rise to the occasion when we were struggling because had that mentality that we were the best, we had drive and power and we never gave up. We should be able to turn things more regularly than we’re doing at the moment. At least play better, even when we’re not able to score. OK, we did play better today when we got behind, but we lack that edge. Hopefully it will come in the second half of the season.

  246. bchilds says:

    Colbert

I don’t disagree that we have lost some of the swagger that now when we go behind our team doesn’t truly believe that we can turn it around whereas during 06/07, 07/08 and even 08/09 if we went behind we did believe we would get back into it.

Isn’t it every defeat this season has been by a single goal apart from the 2-0 reverse at Analfield and the 3-0 defeat at Fulham.

It proves we’re not too far off but something is definitely not clicking.

I still maintain that I find it hard to criticise the team after tonights performance, the effort and desire were top class and if we play with such hunger a week Wednesday it’ll be us at Wembley and not the bitters.

  247. Isaidso says:

The United lads were fucking magic tonight, they really wanted to win for us. Tevez the ” I will not celebrate TWAT” what a ‘no class’ bitter. Course he was always going to celebrate, no United fan is at all surprised. Tevez ego is too HUGE for him not to perform his goal celebration. He didn’t look happy at all though when he thought on things as he left the pitch did he. He was getting a standing ovation from the City crowd, but he looked like the end of the fucking world had come – he was so gloomy. Think he knows he is in for a bloodthirsty amount of abuse when he gets to OT, and he will be crying all week about how much he loves the United fans etc etc bloody etc LOL. That game should have been a draw if shit for brains Mike Dean hadn’t yet again done us with a numptee refereeing decision. Also the penalty kick boosted Tevez, because before that he was getting no joy at all. Well done our lads, and looking forward to getting a result in the return leg!

  248. Rooney22United says:

This proves that Sir Alex was right, and always will be right. He didn’t like Tevez, and did not choose to sign him. Now everyone knows how low Tevez is. Every fan should have listened to Sir Alex, not falling for this cunt’s sucking up to the fans.

  249. geneside says:

tevez has the pace and aggression but he is not an indispencable to manchester united.he runs fast and goes after the ball but one think he is lacking of is wit.thats why sir alex didn’t like him and not wanted to buy him.if the midfield would have showed good vision at the previuos match was we would have been at least in level with city.but no worry as we are the comeback kings of football.
