  20. Fred says:

  21. Fred says:

Devil310 – looks like he’s dyed it. I could be wrong.

  22. Fred says:

Galati don’t have a chance against us on this huge pitch. We might get even more than the three goals I predicted earlier.

  33. TonyBee says:

  34. Fred says:

Oh, it was Cani who scored, Rossi who set it up.

  35. Fred says:

BBC Football pundit Lee Dixon at the Etihad on BBC Radio 5 live, on Villarreal’s goal:”A lesser goalkeeper would have tried to parry it but Joe Hart tried to catch it and in the end fumbled it and Cani reacted before anyone else.”

Um, yeah okay mate. Whatever you say.

  36. Fred says:

If De Gea had fumbled a shot and spilled it into a striker’s path: Calamity for De Gea! This young man looks VERY dodgy!

  37. thedonmassawe says:

    Come on REDS!

  38. Clint-iamyourpapii says:

Valencia is rocking like asphalt !

  39. Vilhelm28 says:

Passing too slow and not enough movement across the board. We need to speed up the play and better our passing. Or we could be looking at another draw.

  40. thedonmassawe says:

you need veetle though to use it

  41. Devil310 says:

Once they start opening up, there will be more chances

  51. the scottish wonder says:

this is terrible.. we only have one shot and that was a weak one from Anderson

  52. TonyBee says:

  53. TonyBee says:

  58. Zelh says:

what happened to valencia? did he forget how to take on players with his physical strenght and speed?

  59. micho says:

what an ugly game… probably because the lazy berbatov is slowing our attack again..

  60. parryheid says:

    Roja Directa Sopcast belting stream.

  61. kelvinchanpw says:

and is it me or has valencia lost that ability to beat a player on the outside, he passes it back all the time?

  62. Devil310 says:

That was the chance….Release the Carrick bashers!!!!!

  63. The Big Red says:

Now i knw tht galati arnt exactly mugs, but they are playng a bit too comfortably agnst us. Nani looks lethargic, not his usual sprightly self…evra looks most likely to score :)

  64. rat1p says:

    carrick should have scored

  65. TonyBee says:

  68. The Big Red says:

Whos tht guy pretending to be valencia? Will the real tony V pls stand up. Fabios runng down the flank more than valencia.

  69. The Big Red says:

Here comes the hair dryer! Watch out fellas!

  70. Vilhelm28 says:

Question. If scores stand as they are, what will the group look like?

  71. Buliwyf says:

  73. thedonmassawe says:

someone tell me that this is some sort of a ploy to fool people that we are not as good as we actually are, because we are fucking boring to watch right now

  78. aimanunited says:

i’m not trying to bash carrick but he should at least hit the target, the cross doesnt have much pace and he’s not under pressure at all…
even amateur players can keep the shot low i think…
Galati have a few chances as well but i expect we perform much better after this.
Sir Alex better prepare his hairdryer now!

  79. micho says:

if berbatov was playing in the first half.. everybpdy would blame him for this stupid mach to watch

  80. Costas says:

    Zzzzzzzzzz

  81. Zelh says:

If Valencia really did forget how to play, take him off. We need firepower.

  82. 16Legend says:

Footballing lesson my arse. If anyone’s getting one it’s us. No room no space. This is where creativity helps and unfortunately there is absolutely none. This is FRIGGGGIN FRUSTRATING

  83. The truth says:

Shit first half performance. We really need to score, a draw is suicidal.

    COME ON UNITED!

  84. Clint-iamyourpapii says:

    WTF is this shit !
    Seriously what is this shit?
Must Win game and Shitty Oletul is dominating !

    STEP THE FUCK UP !

Apologies for the use of SHIT

  85. Eric Cantona Told Me To Tweet says:

    Breaking News!!
We still have another 45 mins to go :)

  86. Collyhurst Red says:

    It’s like the chuckle brothers!
    To you , to me………..

Just have a shot for fuck’s sake, their keeper looks well dodgy.

    and what’s up with Valencia?

  87. Zelh says:

Clint – Well can understand the frustration. That’s the easiest groupe in years and we should be up there with 7 points after that game and not 3-5.

  88. Costas says:

It’s no secret that the team hasn’t looked as red hot as it did in the first 6 weeks of the season. Some might point towards Tom’s absence, but I feel that the team’s mood depends a lot on Rooney’s. Once he picks up his game, so will the rest of the team. As for tonight, I feel that our central midfiel is doing its job well, but the wingers and strikers aren’t troubling the Otelul defence like we know they can.

  89. 90+UntilWeScore says:

I can’t understand what does Berbatov has to do to get a game. It’s not because we are 0-0, but why not play him in games like this. It’s not like he’s fancied for the city game, unless Welbeck is going to be played in that one too.

  90. Balaji Sivaraman says:

IMO, Carrick has been one of the best players on the pitch. He should’ve capped his performance with a goal but wasn’t able to control that pass from Nani. Besides that miss, he has been nearly everywhere on the pitch making forward (ahem) passes, releasing our wide men, getting in blocks and interceptions. He hasn’t been given the best of support from Anderson so far.

Our wide men have been practically non-existent. For all the people raving about Nani’s ability with both feet (And I will be the first to accept that he is a top quality player on both of them), he most definitely is not the same player on the left hand side. He somehow develops an invisible block when playing there and looks quite ordinary.

Valencia is having a dire game. He looks like Smalling has looked at RB. Takes the ball near the fullback and freezes looking for a backward pass. He has – temporarily – lost all ability to shift the ball slightly, alter his centre of gravity and generate that little burst of space to take it to the byline to put the cross in. Let’s hope he rediscovers it ASAP.

Good news is that Vidic is looking fit and, apart from a few moments here and there, already seems to be finding his feet. That is critical when looking at Sunday’s fixture.

I still expect us to win this though. The hairdryer should be going on right now and maybe bring on Berbatov (HOPEFULLY) to work some magic, we should win this. All the game needs is the first goal. Funnily enough, we’ve had more possession and passes, while they’ve had more shots.

  91. 90+UntilWeScore says:

Saw Ronaldo defending today. Somedays I feel 80 million was not enough

  92. Fred says:

Carrick should have put his laces through that. NFT.

  93. Costas says:

Maybe this game suits Berbatov, but I highly doubt he’ll get the nod ahead of Welbeck tonight. It’s interesting that Fergie hasn’t put any wingers on the bench. Say we want to switch Nani on the right. Who will play on the left? Rooney?

  94. mattos says:

    stream anyone?

  95. TheCantona says:

I’ve been suporting United for long time. So I know we’ll never make it easier for ourselves. But fuck me! All of U moaners are really iritated. Lets talk about tactics or gameplay NOT just bashing our team (shit this! shit that!). Lets have a decent footy talk!
Remember its a real football game NOT a football manager game! Ffs!

  96. keano99 says:

Pile of shite lads we need to up the pace we need a win benfica are. Pulling clear at the top

  97. Devil310 says:

    @bajali

100% with you mate. Carrick has been great so far.

Yes, the team need to speed up the tempo, Valencia and Nani need to start taking on players….but this is difficult when you get double teamed. Plus Gelati has been defending most of the game. Parked bus 90% of the half.

  98. Zelh says:

Costas – Put Welbeck on the left. Nani is just not working on the left for some reason. hernandez is not the best option against teams parking the bus.

  99. Troy says:

Fuck me, if I was trying to turn anybody on to football, this would not be the match to do it.
    Too slow
Passing is shit, and considering the snails pace we are playing at that is inexcusable
    The Pea is isolated
Rooney is playing so deep, Pea is all alone, Valencia and Nani are staying wide too much

Only good thing is I stayed at home to watch this 45min’s of garbage. Fuck that, why go out and empty my pockets while been insulted by this garbage

Take off Carrick. Let Rooney stay deep and bring on Wellbeck to partner the Pea.

  100. Clint-iamyourpapii says:

I really want to switch the telly off but I know I will regret it.

  101. Zibbie says:

    LOL!!!
    COME ON UNITED!!!!!!!!

  102. dannysoya says:

Just got back from class. i hear we are not playing well. OMG COME ON BOYS!!!! don’t they realise we might be on the verge of a catastrophic collapse in the champions lge group stages?

  103. Fred says:

To the person who asked – as things stand we are in the Europa League.

I’m still sure that we’ll win this game. Devil310 was spot on at 20:13

  104. micho says:

i do think SAF hates Berba

  105. Costas says:

    Come on United!

    @Zelh

That’s an old trick right there, but yeah Danny on the left sounds like the best option. Maybe that will make room for Berba too, lol.

  106. Zelh says:

Costas – Berba? C’mon  He’s tied to the Carling Cup you know.

  107. Fred says:

Costas – Rooney, Welbeck or even Hernandez could be shifted onto the left if need be. I think Valencia will get the full 90 minutes though, as he won’t be needed on Sunday.

  108. Fred says:

Vintage performance from Evra tonight. He has been our best player imo.

  109. kanchelskis says:

    This ref is a clown

  110. Clint-iamyourpapii says:

Who doesn’t hate Berba ?

  111. Fred says:

    Corner kick!! :D

  112. Fred says:

    Came to nothing. :(

  113. thedonmassawe says:

    more like it!

  114. The Big Red says:

Our midfields been tidy but not spectacular. But wots wid the pace… Sloowwww passng

  115. Samuel - united WE stand says:

Lack of genuine creativity in the team right now, we have to win this.

  116. aimanunited says:

Sir Alex probably is trying to make berba lose patience with united… :-(

  117. kelvinchanpw says:

need cleverley back quick, he and anderson will speed up our play majorly.

  118. TonyBee says:

come on SAF…stir the pot a bit….put on some fucking chargers

  119. thedonmassawe says:

    LOL

  121. Zelh says:

no way fabio is injured. never injured.

  122. rat1p says:

and i thought hargreaves was injury prone

  123. Xyth says:

This is not good enough!!!!! We need to show more urgency in our game!

  124. TonyBee says:

    there’s a fucking surprise ….Fabio is hurt…again…

  125. Clint-iamyourpapii says:

Glass is tougher than this kid, the immune system of 86 year old man is stronger than this kid.

  135. The Big Red says:

Finally! Took its while to come! Cmon lads, open the fuckng floodgates nw!

  136. Zelh says:

at least a goal from the spot.
but brilliant play from carrick that was.

  137. mattos says:

    thank god

  138. TonyBee says:

    at fucking last…….

  139. FletchTHEMAN says:

  140. Troy says:

  143. Devil310 says:

  144. AlphaRS says:

  152. TonyBee says:

  153. Notey90 says:

  154. FletchTHEMAN says:

  157. Devil310 says:

  161. Utd4life says:

  162. TonyBee says:

evening Redscot you old porn star you…..

  163. Xyth says:

Vidic had no need to tacle like that in front of a ref that brandishes cards so easily. Will do well if we do not concede!

  164. NYDUDE says:

    This is dreadful……

  165. Samuel - united WE stand says:

Vida has been really poor tonight, you’d think as a captain he’d have enough experience not to make challenges like that, we’d be lucky to get a win here.

  166. RedScot says:

@ Tony i would like to laugh at that wee dig mate, I cant.
Cmon united, cmon you Reds, shout yer fucking hea\rt out as if you mean, let them hear you in Romania.

  167. Devil310 says:

If some of these fuckers get a second yellow, it’s on!

  168. Samuel - united WE stand says:

The midfield is still a problem, would never say anderson and carrick are a good partnership, cleverly gave us that dynamism and he is needed back.

  169. thedonmassawe says:

We need to see this one through now, but have to improve drastically before the city game, oh the blue bastards have banged in a winner, wanted them to lose damn.

  197. Red Coppel says:

    Phew … just too uncomfortable.

  198. dannysoya says:

MASSIVE PHEW. we better not play ANYTHING CLOSE to this on sunday or else.

  199. TonyBee says:

    anyway what’s a fucking blooter…???

  200. Utd4life says:

Job done. The lads need to play a lot better than this on Sunday and I’m sure they will.

p.s.. I hope we never get this Ref again. Bloody psycho.

  201. Xyth says:

A win is a win, but we should not be happy with this performance at all. Let’s hope this Sunday will mark a new beginning for us!

  202. briggsy says:

Strikes me of a bit of thinking we’d easy beat them so not enough effort and also minds on the sunday being a factor. One of those games that’ll be forgotten in two weeks time when we beat them at home.

  203. mattos says:

    carrick was immense today

im still impressed by the otelul player called vigilanti

a win is a win and it takes up to second in the group now

  204. Balaji Sivaraman says:

One of the funniest refereeing performances in a long time. Rooney’s was a definitely pen, but the fall was a theatrical – he was looking for it.

Carrick again demonstrated his usefulness in Europe. Like the game against Basel, this was one of his better performances. I know it may not have been noticed but his two blocks (one in the first and one in the second) were critical to keeping us in the game. Overall, probably my man of the match.

Anderson and Valencia were practically non-existent in the game. Nani grew into the game and was critical in us taking the lead with a brilliant pass to Rooney. Smalling was a fucking rock. Vidic looked like slowly getting his touch, but was harshly sent off IMO. Evans and Jones settled us when they came on. Lindegaard looked like a solid No. 2.

Overall, I know there will be a lot of justified criticisms over what was, in reality, a sub-par performance from the lads. However, I am going to be a happy and relieved man tonight. I went into the game looking for 3 points and I got them, so I am pleased with that.

  205. briggsy says:

Blooter – fancy name for a hooker

  206. Costas says:

Job done. And a fuck you to the Carrick haters I might add. Best player on the pitch imo.

The red on Vidic was simply ridiculous. That’s a yellow in any country. Dear me like Crerand would say.

    Onto Shitty now.

  207. JC says:

    I can’t wait for Sunday…

  208. RedScot says:

Fuck off Briggsy and you to Tony bee am not a blooter its a Paddy Crerand and Scottish term for a crashing shot, which you whimps might call a pile driver, or ‘ drillled’
Any how later tonight my name changes to Autumn Winters so fuck you. lol
Enjoy yer night lads it was brilliant ….the result. No fuck off. lol
    cya.

  209. Samuel - united WE stand says:

Its gonna be incredibly difficult against city, united’s toughest test however if we win then the confidence will shoot back up because that great start we had has slowed down somewhat.

  210. briggsy says:

I think carrick is a very good squad player for us and games like tonight suit his style. The only time he looks like struggling is when we play with a quick tempo, just a different type of game to what he’s conditioned to. Not every player can be the same

  211. Utd4life says:

I agree with Costas and Balaji, Carrick was the MOTM. Made some great passes, interceptions and blocks. Hope he carries his european form into Sunday’s game.

  212. Vilhelm28 says:

All we nerd to do is speed up the passing and incre.ase movement up top, and we Are golden this weekend.

  213. rat1p says:

dodgy performance, 3 points -job done-

dont be silly we are allowed to criticise our players some tend to overreact but they are entitled to their opinion
it would be boring if we couldnt read those posts and get angry sometimes

  214. Vilhelm28 says:

    need

  215. Costas says:

The City game is definitely the biggest test of the season as Samuel points out. It’s a test that I would have fancied for us 2 months ago. Now I am not so sure. The team needs to rediscover its identity for that one. It’s not just Cleverley that’s missing. Nani, Young, Ando and Rooney haven’t looked as impressive in recent weeks. Fergie has a lot of thinking to do for that one. Personally I’d start with Danny and keep Chicharito as a super sub. And after today, Carrick is banging on the door again.

  216. Samuel - united WE stand says:

Evra performance has been picking up, bombing on and probably united’s best player tonight, it can only mean good news for us, he has spoke less and produced the goods on the pitch, we will be needing him against city.

Aguero and silva will be the main danger men in my view, we have to do a job on silva especially who will drop and try orchestrate games, if we shackle him then great but they have other threat of course.

  217. WillieRedNut says:

We came for the 3 points…..we got those points. Not gonna moan too much. Happy we won, but the lads will need to up for Sunday. Carrick is my motm. Top performance from him. Great clearance, after we had scored. Evra put in a decent shift. The old Evra has returned! :) I wonder if we can appeal Vidic Red card? That was Yellow at best. The referee let a few challenges go. Nani got some rough treatment. Well done Rooney, on dispatching those penalties. Smalling looked solid. The lad looks more comfortable at CH. Job done, now for the bitters!

  218. slim says:

    costas

spot on mate. In my opinion this could be as a result of SAF curbing the attacking instincts. The clamor was the defense needed to improve, Not true if you ask me , the defenders were fine. A slip here or there it was no biggie . There just seems to be something missing. Right too about Carrick looked very cool on the ball. Liked seeing that and he brought some calm for US something I’ve moaned about him not doing . I see him and Ando starting or Giggsy. Rather the former but we’ll see.

  219. Samuel - united WE stand says:

Costas – i agree, i think hernandez will be more effective coming off the bench, he can sniff a goal outta nothing and if the game is tight then he is man of the job, welbeck has the all round and won’t be physically bullied and he has the all round game to change the game in our favour but it won’t be easy.

For the defence, i’m not sure who will play but i’d imagine rio is penned to start?

Our midfield has to be on top form, we have to keep the ball and use possession wisely, i’m worried about yaya toure’s power in there but maybe anderson who admittedly was below par tonight can step up, jury is still out but hey let the game commence.

  220. NotoriousRedDevil says:

Carrick played really well today. When he put that shot over the bar I thought to myself thats all the haters will pick up. I think he should start Sunday if Cleverly isn’t ready. Performance didn’t matter as much as the result. Although I don’t think Tony V has done himself any favours and Nani certainly looks more comfortable on the right than the left unless in small periods during the game. Hernandez got more involved than he usually does without receiving much service so that was pleasing to see.

Hopefully Vidic only gets one match suspension. I thought by European standards it was a red, may be a blessing in disguise even if he does get 3 games because I have a feeling this group will go to the wire if we want to be group winners. Can’t see Basle getting anything away to Benfica. We have some tricky games in the league before and after ties including Everton and Villa away and also Wolves at home who have given us a run for our money in recent times.

  221. slim says:

Chuffed to bits with Gary. Looks very professional on sky, other half baked loose brain cell pundits need to sit up and naysayers eat humble pie. I’ll take a slice of that pie; i wasn’t sure he’d handle it well – no to mention this well. Good on ya Gary

  222. RedFury says:

Galati was very organised at the back. so the score was as expected for me, as in goal from penalty. but we seriously need to find a way to break up defense instead of relying on counter-attacks or set pieces.

  223. Balaji Sivaraman says:

@slim, Have you seen some of the comments to his insightful articles on the Mail? It looks like a bunch of retarded teenage scousers have taken to reading that paper. Gary is arguably one of the most insightful, impartial and level-headed journalists on both TV and writing stuff for papers, and he is slagged by brainless fans of opposition who cannot see through their bias and realize what a quality commentator he is. It’s people like those that are spoiling the quality of football analysis on TV by listening to the Redknapps of this world. Sigh!

  224. Mahesh says:

Typical European group stage game. I always wonder why I bothered watching, because we are strangely incredibly boring to watch in Europe, in the group stages, so I won’t read much into this. On the whole lackluster, but it will be different come the weekend. Having said that, we are favourites for that game, only because we’re at home. If it was at City, I would make them favourites. We seem to have lost a lot of steam, and flair.

  225. Saad says:

    Lindegaard: ok
    Evra: WOW!
    Smalling: wow *yawwwwwwwn*
    Vidic: no comment
Fabio: question marks over his development
Valencia: tough as usual but not very influential today
Carrick: solid, but where’d his shooting boots go??
Ando: WHY? Why can’t you play like that all the time? WHYYYYYYY???
Nani: left side is just not his side, why bother?
    Chico & Wazza: fine

  226. WillieRedNut says:

I think Hernandez held the ball up well tonight. Won freekicks, done his job. And, only for the handball, he would’ve scored. No problems with his performance.

  227. parryheid says:

We’ll qualify through the group allright then personally I think it’s goodnight Vienna unless we can conjure some quality from somewhere.

  228. Mahesh says:

I have to watch the Vidic red card again (choppy stream), but my first instict was he’s going to go off, contrary to what everyone else here seems to think. He went mighty high, didn’t seem to know what the hell he was doing, was out of control going almost sideways, and could have potentially hurt the opponent. If a ref has just one split second look at that, I’m not suprised he sends him off. That was just plain stupid.

  229. Mahesh says:

parryheid: we always qualify like this for the knock-off stage, and then lift our game a few notches. I wouldn’t be worried about the later stages, right now just worrried about our group games, like I am every season!

  230. Saad says:

    @Mahesh

Shin-high is not “mighty high”. Plus it was just one leg, not two. The ref was inconsistent tonight, and that’s just as bad as being incompetent, in my opinion.

  231. Paul Parker says:

Thought Carrick was top drawer tonight and Evra was motm. Easily our two best players on the night, We played some good football at times, Nani put in a decent shift on the left, Fabio looked good on the right, Javier was lively and Anderson’s performance was solid. The Ref was all over the place and didn’t play anywhere near our best, but im used to it when we have a tough group of games. The main thing tonight was getting closer to 10 points, and we’ve done that with plenty still left in the tank for the Derby. Well done all round.

  232. parryheid says:

    Maheesh

Trouble is this year I think there is a serious amount of particularly strong opposition going to be in the knockout stages this is going to be very tough imo.

  233. slim says:

    WillieRedNut

too right. i was impressed with the number of free kicks he won. I hope its something he’s adding to his game. Leave defenders guessing what he’s up to. He’s not gonna hold it up like a traditional striker but if he can win free kicks add that to his sharp movement and viola you have a player who doesn’t really hold the ball per se but always keeps his side in possession of the ball in that area of the pitch. You saw it when otelul defender dragged him down. Good to see he’s using his head to get round his parts of his game that could be viewed as s negative

  234. denton davey says:

Utd4Life @21:48: “Carrick was the MOTM. Made some great passes, interceptions and blocks.”

You guys are getting carried away – he missed an absolute sitter that would have put TheLads ahead in the first half. I’m not saying he was awful – or anything like that – but some balance is called for and that means balancing his good defensive play against his miserable sky-ball.

When the opposition fall back into nine-men-behind-the-ball formation (like Rangers did last year) it’s hard to break them down. A lot of these Euro games are played at such a slow pace which just doesn’t suit high-tempo footie. The first half was especially awful to watch.

LIke others have said, Michael Carrick did an excellent job mopping up at the back and Anderson – though somewhat wayward – kept trying to drive TheLads forward. Too often, though, Chicharito was isolated because TheWayneBoy played in midfield and was slow to join in the attack. I thought that when the ball went down the right side – through Fabio and Antonio Valencia, who was really lousy tonight – it ended up in a dead-end and any opportunity just got frittered away.

In the second half, Nani was the best, most dangerous attacking player – he hit the post, laid on a beauty of a left-foot cross to TheWayneBoy which was screwed wide: that’s two acts of “difference maker” which is what a player like him is supposed to do. Patrice Evra was also doing well in the attack – he hardly needed to play in defence.

    Chris Smalling was just terrific.

Overall, though, it was dross. UTD played-down to the level of the opposition.

  235. denton davey says:

One other thing – anyone “scouting” UTD, to learn more about how TheLads play, won’t have learned much from that performance.

Over the last few years, TheLads have played down to the level of their opposition with some regularity which has induced some palpitations when the “big game” is next on the schedule. BUT, with some regularity, when the “big game” has come TheLads have stepped it up and done really well. SAF seems to be able to get TheLads to rise to the occasion but it doesn’t seem possible for them to play consistently at the top level, in high gear. But, of course, it’s a long, long season and the most important thing is to be in-at-the-finish with a chance for silverware.

The match this weekend against ManShitty should be a great challenge – for both sides. I expect that Mancini will park-the-bus, hope for an away point or, if the stars are aligned in his favour, a goal on the counter, against-the-run-of-play. TheLads should dominate possession and need to have their shooting boots on.

  236. denton davey says:

Where was Dimmy ? This seemed like a game that would suit his silky skills.

What’s up with his marginalization ?

Is he now fifth-choice behind TheWayneBoy, Chicharito, DannyTheLad, and LittleMikey ?

  237. wayne says:

For gods sake denton stop being a loser banging on Berba makes you pathetic, how can you be a Utd fan and continue to beat up on the lad when he’s not getting a chance to play, seriously FUCK OFF

  238. denton davey says:

Wayne @ 0:02 – I was just wondering where all the BerbaLove had gone. Your comment seems to answer that question – it’s turned to venom.

There’s no reason for you to tell me to “FUCK OFF” when I was asking a fairly straightforward question. All the BerbaLovers bang on about his contribution to last year’s 19th EPL title – and they’re not wrong to do so – but the BerbaSceptics want to know “what have you done for me lately ?”

The best you seem to be able to come up with in answering that question is to spew hatred at me. But, hey, I’m just the messenger.

  239. WillieRedNut says:

Hard to contribute when you’re on the bench.

  240. wayne says:

Because your a snide gloating cunt and don’t know when to let something go,you’ve been banging on Berba all fucking year, don’t fucking get it why do you delight in being a cunt.Berba has done fuck all to warrant receiving this shit, you’re right I am full of venom I’m tired of you smarmy comments

  241. denton davey says:

Wayne – is it “smarmy” to ask a question about the marginalization of last year’s top EPL scorer (from open play) ?

Is it “gloating” to point out that Dimmy hasn’t had more than a couple of cameos so far this season ?

is it “snide” to query BerbaLove and ask for a discussion based on something approaching empirical evidence – like, why isn’t the guy playing ? how significant were his misses in the FACup semi-final ?

Is it unreasonable to expect common courtesy ?

  242. wayne says:

Denton not the FA Cup semi final again ffs,you get some delight in Berba not playing, common courtesy, why even mention Berba on this thread, throwing in the dig is Dimmy 5th choice, titter, titter a denton
It’s not his fault he’s been left on the bench, all he’s ever done is respect the club, was in good form last year when dropped. What i’ve seen over the last few games deserves a chance,as a Utd fan don’t understand the perverse delight you seem to get out of Berbas dilemma.
The lads been a model pro and was a big part in winning the title,he deserves respect from Utd fans,so don’t give me common courtesy when all you’ve done since May is take shots.Like i said Denton you need to let it go and stop acting like some giddy bitch over someone elses misfortune who doesn’t deserve it.

  243. Mr C says:

    Wayne – 100% agree.

@Denton. You had your wish. Berb’s not been playing. As such, according to your philosphy, United should be putting crap sides like the Romanian outfit to the sword. Instead, our recent performances have been lacklustre. So do you direct your ire at those who are actually playing? No. According to you it’s Berba’s fault due to some contrived bullshit in your hate filled mind.

What has Berba done for us recently you ask? You might as well ask the same spurious question of Tom C.

    Sir, you are an idiot.

  244. denton davey says:

Wayne @ 2:534: “It’s not his fault he’s been left on the bench, all he’s ever done is respect the club, was in good form last year when dropped.”

errrr, actually it is “his fault” – the manager decided that he was less effective than the alternatives. He was in “good form” before the New Year, after that he scored four goals in two months – admittedly, important goals against Blackpool but not enough to prevent SAF from going-in-another-direction. So, “his fault” was not playing well enough to keep – or regain – the manager’s confidence. If you want to play some sort of blame game then whose “fault” has led to Dimmy’s marginalization ?

Mr C. @ 13:03: “You had your wish. Berb’s not been playing.”

You, too, misunderstand my position on Dimmy’s role. I have never “wished” him to be surplus-to-requirements but I have always questioned those (like you and Wayne) who claim that he is somehow deserving of a role that – to my mind – he does not deserve.

It all comes down to two things: square peg/round hole; and, second, “what have you done for me lately”. In regards to Dimmy’s latest performance of any significance – yessir that was against ManShitty in the FACup semi-final – he missed two sitters which is why I think that that was a relevant factor in his marginalization and his current role as the fourth- or fifth-choice front-man.

What you guys who profess BerbaLove don’t seem to understand is that professional footie – at UTD’s level – is a results-business. And if you can’t provide the results then you get shunted aside because there’s always someone (like Chicharito or DannyTheLad) who wants your job and your playing-time.

Mr C “our recent performances have been lacklustre. So do you direct your ire at those who are actually playing?”

Actually, if you go back to my comment @ 23:52, you will see that I wondered why Dimmy was on the bench in a match that seemed to suit his silky skills. Reading that with an open mind, the only conclusion you could draw is that I wondered why SAF wasn’t giving him a run-out and was (implicitly) asking those who profess BerbaLove to explain why Dimmy was kept stuck to the bench. If anything, my question could be interpreted to wonder if a change with Dimmy might not have led to something that was not “lacklustre”. But, I guess that you (and Wayne) don’t read with an open mind.
