CONFIRMED LINE-UP: Schalke vs UNITED

Van der Sar, Fabio, Vidic, Ferdinand, Evra, Carrick, Giggs, Valencia, Park, Rooney, Hernandez.

Bench: Kuszczak, Evans, Rafael, Smalling, Anderson, Scholes, Nani

The nerves and fear the Chelsea game in the quarter-finals brought about seem to overshadow feelings ahead of the Schalke game. The thought of losing to them was painful, particularly knowing we had the easier side of the draw waiting for the semi-finals. Beating them in 2008 was amazing but I couldn’t stand the thought of John Terry’s smug face if they knocked us out, some kind of redemption for him after missing that vital penalty in Moscow.

The relief of reaching the semis, after beating Chelsea both home and away, has allowed this game to creep up on us without all the stress that usually comes with these games. If it was Barcelona or Real Madrid we were playing tonight, I assume that would be different, but there seems to be a feeling of it being ‘only Schalke’.

Our German opponents are currently 10th out of 18 in the Bundesliga and lost at home to lower placed Kaiserslautern at the weekend. Because we’re not playing a Chelsea or a Barcelona, it’s easy to underestimate our opponents, but that would be foolish, given our poor record against German sides and the fact this is their only thing to play for.

For all the criticism that has been aimed at our squad this season, it’s worth noting just how well we’ve done in Europe this season. We’ve won 7 of our 10 games, winning all but one of our away games and haven’t conceded away.

Can that record continue tonight? With such a strong starting line-up, you’d like to think so.

Very attacking team, let’s go for it

  2. MG says:

Come on United – fear no one – keep on going

    We are right behind you.

  3. 90+Until We Score says:

No Mickey on bench is more surprising

  4. Xyth says:

We shall not make mistakes that we made against Bayern last year.

    Positive approach will be rewarded.

  5. Mr Santos says:

Fabio at RB and Rafael on the bench? Nonetheless, pleased with the strong side put out plus good options on the bench too!

  6. Costas says:

    Must. Not. Underestimate.

  7. Giles Oakley says:

I’m a little sad Michael Owen isn’t on the bench. There’s no out-and-out striker as back-up, but lots of defenders. Still, let’s go for it United!

  8. mos fitz says:

PLease united do it for busby babes . there no striker on the bench hope chico and rooney are enough . probably are tho.

    1-2 to united

  9. Zibbie says:

WHAT A CLUB COME ON MAN UTD !!!!!!!!!!

  10. bchilds says:

Looks like we’re going for the win and to score. I expected a 4-5-1 with Rooney the lone striker, am surprised.

    Come on United!

  11. RedAllTheWay says:

No striker on the bench ? surprised tbh. And Fabio once again starting at RB in place of Rafael? Sign of things to come? Ah, can’t wait ’til we see the twins bombing down opposite flanks :’)

  12. Zibbie says:

Fabio was considered the more talented and further along of the twins 2 years ago. I heard Rafa talk of his bother as the better player of the 2 as well. Competition for places is on of the reasons for such good form, but to beat out your brother is harsh in a way.

  13. CedarsDevil says:

50 minutes to go, heart rate on the up, beers in the fridge cooling nicely, love affair with the club rising by the minute as it has done for over 35 years…….

    UNITED, bloody love this club

  14. United4eva says:

    @RedAllTheWay

We’ve got enough variation to switch it up if needs must. I’m very pleased with the lineup as it goes. Lets impose ourselves on this one like we imposed ourselves on Chelsea and win. No 2-1 like last year at Bayern. Lets put our noses in front from the off.

  15. Gaffer says:

nice feeling beeing just wanting to get on with the match – twice a week when bitters, dippers, gooners and rentboys are boring themselves.

Loss in the weekend for the germans show they were preparing for match today, so dont take it easy. Not quite confident with Giggs and Carrick in the middle of the park in a 442, so I hope Rooney now and then will drop as deep as we have seen him recently. Roo will be our key man. Love it.

  16. Always Be Closing says:

Really surprised too at the lack of a back-up striker too, Owen for one of the defenders (probably Evans) and I’d be really happy about the line-up! We have Nani though, so that should make up for it.

  17. GHred says:

STR correction. we drew @ Marseille 0-0. the only away game we failed to win. but surprised JOS left out altogether and no MO7. but methinks this is a very solid squad with the right mix of attack n defense on pitch/bench

  18. parryheid says:

Do I like that lineup there’s no doubt what the intention is tonight.Pretty good chance of a couple of goals advantage,A team out tonight go on United.

  19. Zibbie says:

They will play a 4-4-1-1 with Rooney in a even further withdrawn role on defense. Lil Pea on the last shoulder making space for Rooney and Giggs to get or make the away goal.

  20. Raizzen says:

Too true Scott a lost inflicted by Chelsea and the fact that we had to look at the Terry the Cunt’s face when he tries to come up with some Einstein-ish shits while trying to theaterize their so called achievement is just plain.. puke-able.

BUT to lose to Ciddeh in the FA Cup in the manner that we did was ever WORSE!

Sorry had to bring that out am sorry rly its just that…. :/

  21. Zibbie says:

Cedar mine too the fucking anxiety before the game sucks shit!
    GO ROONEY!!!!!!!!!!

  22. mos fitz says:

    2-1 to my beloved reds

  23. rubito says:

COME ON YOU MIGHTY REDS………………..UNITED UNITED UNITED

  24. dannysoya says:

COME ON UNITED!!! RUN AT THEM. nice to see the team is very attack minded. GET AT THEM AND MAKE THEM MAKE MISTAKES. COME ON UNITED!!!!

  25. Balaji Sivaraman says:

Costas got everyone except Fabio correct. Is something still wrong with O’Shea from Saturday or it is just a tactical change?

Sir Alex knows exactly what he wants. A clean sheet and an away goal just like we did at Stamford Bridge. He doesn’t mind conceding but his priority is to always get that away goal.

I’d like to think we would definitely score but I am not predicting a result. That’s for sure.

  26. Zibbie says:

    BEFORE HE SHOWS !!!
ZELH FUCKING SHUT UP AND KEEP IT POSITIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  27. RedAllTheWay says:

“United4Eva yeah, that’s true. And we must have one of the, if not THE, strongest squads in Europe? Add to the fact that the versatility of our players is second to none, we are able to adapt to any situation. BTW, does anyone else feel that Rooney really is regressing into a CAM? But i love the fact that we now play 2 up front. So much more attacking, but with Rooney dropping back, defensively sound aswel (Y) :D

  28. North Stand Tier 2 says:

    @Mr Santos

Like the rest of us, I’m not sure Fergie can tell the difference between Rafael and Fabio anyway… :)

Good strong line up, clearly going for a few goals, but not having a striker on the bench is always a strange decision…? You would hope that with their slightly wayard defence, and aging frontline, we can sweep these boys aside, but Champs League semi’s are always a difficult task!

    Come on reds!

  29. Devil310 says:

Strong line-up. Wazza will probably sit behind Hernandez, with Giggs in the middle and Park on the left.

I’m just glad that park didn’t play behind a lone striker like he did against city.

We can do this….away goal is the key!

  30. Mozza79 says:

Has Fabio moved ahead of Rafael in the pecking order?

  31. Zibbie says:

    The anthem cool…………………..

  32. MG says:

    3-0 United

    :)

  33. Saad says:

The bench selection suggests that SAF does not plan on replacing any of the strikers. He wants to replenish the energy in the midfield by substituting for fresher legs sometime after the 60th minute. He clearly is wary of Schalke’s extra midfield energy and dynamism during this time of the season.

  34. Hasan says:

    Anyone.. Stream please..?

  35. dannysoya says:

Schalke have been talking so much in the press. I’m pissed. WE WILL WIN TONIGHT!!! COME ON UNITED!!!!

  36. RedAllTheWay says:

Does anyone think that Giggs maybe out on the left with Park in the middle? Just a thought, + SAF does have a habit of surprising us . .

  37. cherry says:

After his fine performance against Everton I was thinking Ando wud be rewarded wth a starting place tonite…also surprised that Owen is not on the bench..I have a feeling that he may have picked a knock or sth..anyway good line up for me…nd as Rio wud say lets aviiiiiit!!!! cmon united

  38. Devil310 says:

Rafael hasn’t played for weeks. Fabio was really strong over the weekend. So I don’t see what the fuzz is about.

I also thought O’Shea was starting because of the height thing, but I IMO Fabio is much proffered

  39. Cyril Sneer says:

I’m posting my Chicharito song to bring the team luck:

He’s faster than your eyes can see
He goes by the name of Little Pea
If you score one he’ll just score three
    Javier Hernandez!

He’ll win more leagues than Stevie G
He scores more than Torres in his sleep
He looks as young as our Ole
    Javier Hernandez!

    Gooooo Chicharitooooooo!

    Come on United!

  40. CedarsDevil says:

We need us a nick name for Hernandez lads, and of course not just his own chosen one of Little Pea…

We nicknamed OGS the baby faced assassin, so something along those lines would be great. He is baby faced mind you, the bugger does not seem to shave yet, fucking love him

  41. MajManUnited says:

Versatility, composure, and consistency like no other, COME ON UNITED!

  42. Zibbie says:

    @redalltheway and others.
    denton davey says:
    Me, again.

There’s an excellent article in TheGuardianOnline by Jonathan Wilson about how WayneBoy’s role has evolved this season:

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/blog/2011/apr/26/the-question-man-utd-goals-rooney
    Great Read!!!!!!! Thanks Denton Davey

  43. sachu says:

  44. dannysoya says:

@Cedarsdevil. how about MR BIG GOAL :)

  45. Zibbie says:

    YYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  46. Dimitar Berbatov is King says:

    We have to believe.

  47. karandravs says:

Believe !!! Really nervous even though i feel we can come of with away goals and may be even a win.

  48. slim says:

    Come on UNITED!!

  49. Ferane-Mauritius says:

    @ balaji
i think its a tatics played by SAF, maybe he feels that we need more energy on the right to back valencia for crosses and a RB who can penetrate in the middle of the park to create disbalance in the adverse team.

  50. EDCUNITED1878 says:

Composure on the ball, composure in the midfield and composure on both ends of the pitch. BELIEVE…

  51. RedAllTheWay says:

@Zibbie Great Read !! + was more or less exactly what i was thinking ! Am not going to lie, but i love his new role lool

  52. Mexico is RED says:

    @Cyril Sneer Great Song!

I will make my escape from work to see the Red Blitz!!!
    Come on United!!!

  53. CedarsDevil says:

    dannysoya

Not a bad one mate, I would rather something with the words kid or baby. I am not feeling too creative tonight!!

    C’MON UNITED

  54. Robbinhood savage says:

a good team on the ground

Giggs in the middle..a role which he s comfortable with..but suprisingly we got three defenders on the bench. No sign of Owen and no sign of Berbatov either.

Like to see Anderson come in later on..he is improvin with every game.

  55. MG says:

    Javier Hernandez “Chicharito”

    Silent but deadly Mexican Agent

    :)

  56. fergie is the boss says:

I have no idea how schalke will go about the game, it will be interesting how carrick and giggs can cope in this type of game, against a very unknown side. Obvious it could go 2 ways

  57. Zibbie says:

RATW me to, his legacy as a Man Utd player will be made in the hole and as a CAM and at 33 he will be a CDM and play there until he retires.
Last year was to get being that #9 thing out of his craw and now he looks happy on the field again.

  58. Zibbie says:

@MG in the US silent but deadly is used to describe FARTS!

  59. Jeet says:

    Got 10/11 right :)

again a bit concerned with no striking options on the bench…they will probably spot that and try kicking lumps out of Rooney and Chicha….hope we get a good ref

  60. North Stand Tier 2 says:

Well up for the game tonight lads! I think we can win this. We are the stronger team, with more experience, and more quality. I think we can come away with a win here, 2-1, maybe more.

Confidence will be running through the team, and having seen the short video clips of the lads in training at the ground, they all looked relaxed and up for the occasion.

Was a good performance against Everton, and I think we can expect more of the same tonight. If Giggsy is on form in the middle, and we can get Rooney into the game, we should be going home very happy.

Also need to stress the importance of the ref, hopefully he will be anonymous for the whole game. Just need our lads to ensure they dont give the ref any excuses to make any rash decisions.

  61. CedarsDevil says:

    MG

You are an inspiration buddy! How about The Lethal Mexican? Not sure but I did try lol

  62. Zibbie says:

“Rooney has proportionally been directly involved in as many goals this season as he was last: last season he played 2,723 minutes in the Premier League, scoring 26 goals and claiming three assists. This season, in 1,950 minutes, he has scored 10 and made 11 assists. To put it another way, he scored or assisted a goal every 93 minutes and 54 seconds last season and every 92 minutes and 52 seconds this.”

  63. MG says:

    Zibbie

Well Americans like to do everything XXXL

    ;)

  64. MG says:

    CedarsDevil

    Good Evening

What about The Clinical Operator ;)

  65. Alpha_RS says:

Again we need to be in a position where for the return leg United do not need to score. Making Schalke come at us and therefore open up the game.

  66. Zibbie says:

    @MG Montezuma Revenge.
    hehe

  67. fergie is the boss says:

anyone been thinking, that hearing the pundits and the press are hyping sckalke has a team united are underestimating and they think united will lose 2night. Maybe it is just me, but the media and the press almost have this attitude thgat sckalke will win or wanting united 2 lose

  68. MG says:

    Thunderbolt and Lightning :)

  69. MG says:

    Speedy Hernandez

  70. Channy says:

Hope we get the away goal (s) 2:24 am in Hong Kong ATM waiting for kick off. Any HK Reds watching?

  71. Zibbie says:

    @MG I personally am a XXXL-TALL

  72. geneside says:

hernandez is what rooney was in the previous season……a goalsniffer..with rooney dropping deep he is the kind of a player we need…but above all i want carrick to put up a good performance….

  73. MG says:

    The Quiet Mexican ;)

  74. Zibbie says:

    Channy what a fan!!

  75. MG says:

    Zibbie

Thus you are a big basketball player ;)

  76. slim says:

    @fergie is the boss

So so true mate, i guess its too much for them to take. That we could be in the final, they all want us to lose the game.

  77. gaz says:

    come on UNITED!!

  78. Cyril Sneer says:

@Cedars – He’s Speedy Hernandez to me! ‘arriba arriba! andale andale! epa!’

@Mexico is RED – Thanks very much, I love that kid (like every other United fan)

  79. CedarsDevil says:

    Chicharito = Lethal C

  85. TheRadLegion says:

Remember 99 when people said it would be near impossible to beat italian teams.. but we beat them with style. German team or not, as long as we don’t underestimate them, we will win.

  86. Zibbie says:

@MG American Football, Baseball and Wrestled many moons ago played College American Football now just fat and 49. I was 192-7 as a Heavyweight wrestler.

  89. Real AB says:

  94. CedarsDevil says:

    Cyril Sneer

Nice one mate, sort of took be a few (many) years……… Loved that cartoon

  95. Zibbie says:

@MG before the MMA with my wrestling background I always knew a wrestler could beat the shit out of a black belt or boxer. I was in Denver for the 1st MMA tournament that Gracie won and made $1800.00 in bets with everyone betting for the strikers. Then they took the head but away and knees on the ground to the head away and it has developed into the sport it is now.

  96. 102melbourne says:

Greg Bishop (Wycombe Wanderers fan) .
Find it hard to see Man U getting anything out of this leg having seen Schalke play in Europe this season. I suspect Schalke will just be too strong for them. If Man U can escape with a 2-1 or even 3-1 loss, they’ll have a good chance to claw back the deficit in the home tie, but I fear Schalke will have it tied up after one leg like they did against Inter. The Premier League has been a shadow of its former self this year, and I suspect had they been playing a team other than Chelsea in the last round, they would have gone out at the quarters. I hope I’m wrong. My prediction is 3-0 Schalke

He better be wrong, but for him to say the prem has been poor and united have been poor, has he watched sckalke in the german league, they are 10th for christ sake which is a crap league

  99. Oscar Madison says:

    GGMU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anybody have a link for a live stream?

  100. jespermoses says:

  110. Balaji Sivaraman says:

Schalke’s defense look to be there for the taking. Come on Reds!

  111. 102melbourne says:

VALENCIA LOOKING DANGEROUS ON THE RIGHT

  112. jespermoses says:

Fabio should have gone himself…….he tried to pass it

  113. jespermoses says:

    Should have scored!!….fuuuuuckkkk

  114. MG says:

Fuck me we better score here because at the moment we have them…

  115. Alpha_RS says:

How did Hernandez not finish that?! I’m amazed!

  116. MG says:

Fuck me the German bench are shitting themselves – we have them so badly come on United !!!

  117. Balaji Sivaraman says:

@jesper, No way he is going to beat Neuer from that angle. Pass was the right choice, I am just surprised he used his right given he usually plays on the left side and his left foot is as good as his right one.

Hernandez missed a golden opportunity now. Come on Reds.

  118. CedarsDevil says:

Our game to win but fuck me Manuel is a top keeper

    COME ON UNITED

  119. Alpha_RS says:

Fcuk me how are we not winning? We’re all over em!

  120. jespermoses says:

  125. ridiclus says:

WE NEED TO START TAKING THESE CHANCES

  126. CedarsDevil says:

fantastic fucking reds tonight………. Loving it

  127. 102melbourne says:

Hernandez could have had a had trick by now.

    Schalke never seemed like winning

  128. MG says:

    6-0 up

    Oh my God

  129. ridiclus says:

MY GOD WHATS GOING ON, BUT NEUER IS LOOKING GOOD

  130. Devil310 says:

Ok…we NEED to start putting our chances away

  131. CedarsDevil says:

We’re just playing against a top class keeper lol

  132. Balaji Sivaraman says:

I admit it, I am impressed. Neuer, if you don’t want to join Bayern, you can come to us anytime you want. Can we get our fucking goal now? It only takes one chance for them to get a goal.

  133. ridiclus says:

WE SHOULD GET NANI ON THE LEFT AT THE START OF THE SECOND HALF AND PUT THIS AWAY TONIGHT

  134. jespermoses says:

I get the feeling all these chances could come back to haunt us

  135. ridiclus says:

    @jesper

    Couldnt agree more mate

  136. MG says:

I’m not worried but fucking `German opposition in the past resembles the way I feel

    Especially Dortmund and Leverkusen

    Fuck me come on United

  137. micho says:

    i miss berb

  138. dela says:

Neuer is all that stands between us and the final at Wembley. Fantastic performance so far. How have we not scored yet?

  139. ridiclus says:

    Rooney is running the show.

  140. Zibbie says:

The lads are fine this is 180 mins they look sharp and so does Neuer.

  141. jespermoses says:

    Mental game!!

  142. Zibbie says:

    Miss him all you want.

  143. MG says:

Fuck me Fuck me Fuck me

  144. ridiclus says:

How can we not be at least 3 up

  145. dv-ant says:

what the , how the fuk r we not 3-0 up by now

  146. dela says:

The most one-sided Champions League away game I’ve seen in a long, long time. Should have been 4 nil up by now. Fuck you Neuer.

  147. TonyBee says:

    fabio what a fucking miss

  148. ridiclus says:

Neuer said his hero was peter the great, he does a mean starfish like him

  149. Zibbie says:

The heart of all champions is defense and what a Golden triangle in Rio, Vidic and VDS !!!!!!

  150. bettson says:

put 30 mill on the table and buy Neuer!

  151. dela says:

Now Fabio misses a sitter. How is this happening? I just hope we don’t end up regretting these misses.

  152. Alpha_RS says:

Fcuk me this is stupid. How is the tie not over by now I don’t know.
Is it gonna be one of those days when Schalke score a lucky feckin goal and win the game?

  153. Mahesh says:

How are we not fucking 7 or 8 up by now? This is reminding me of Dortmung FFS!!! Lets just finish this tonight please!

  154. CedarsDevil says:

Neuer is top class, with out him we would be at least 4 nil up….Either way we will get to the final, they are below average

  155. Balaji Sivaraman says:

Well, Neuer is conducting himself pretty well in his job interview. It’s hard for SAF to not take notice. He’s almost doing what Ronaldo did.

Is anyone else getting a feeling of deja vu? I don’t want that. i think United are good enough to not repeat mistakes again. Let’s fucking convert one of these chances.

Brilliant refereeing so far BTW. Not one bad call and really made for an engrossing game of football.

  156. Oscar Madison says:

bettson, right, get neuer first thing this summer!!

  157. ridiclus says:

They cant play as bad in the second half can they?

  158. Zibbie says:

Balaji next week is a recruiting trip for SAF to seduce Neuer with OLD TRAFFORD on a European Night!

  159. Zibbie says:

There not playing that bad, Man Utd is playing that well.

  160. Zelh says:

    Neuer immense.
Otherwise we would lead by miles.

  161. Alpha_RS says:

This is fcukin ridiculous. I’ve never seen such a one sided away game in my life.

  162. dela says:

You just get the feeling we only need one for the floodgates to open. Get the first goal lads and we’ll kill the tie tonight in Germany.

  163. Zibbie says:

World Class keeper, and Man Utd will still move on.

  164. jespermoses says:

    I must admit….Neuer does look the business…..

  165. Devil310 says:

we should be 3-0 by now

we can put this away….need to be more clinical

  166. ridiclus says:

You know what this reminds me of, Euro 92 germany v denmark, germany battered them but peter the great kept them in the game and denmar won

  167. fergie is the boss says:

    FUCK YOU NEUER

  168. matt says:

fuck off neuer you cunt just let us score and the sign for us

  169. Xyth says:

We should bee at least 3:0 up!!!!!

  170. musvn says:

wtf, we keep wasting our chances.

Neuer has been a beast so far. We have not score because of this guy. Def, get him in summer! :D I was never a fan of De Gea anyway

  171. MG says:

    9 chances

Manchester United are absolutely battering them

    0 goals

    Fuck me tension…

This champions league semi final should have been over right now

I don’t want no fucking surprises

  172. Saad says:

How are we not 6-0 up?
How are we not 6-0 up?
How are we not 6-0 up?
How are we not 6-0 up?
How are we not 6-0 up?
How are we not 6-0 up?

  173. dannysoya says:

FFS MANUEL NEUER IS ON FIRE TONIGHT!!!!

COME ON BOYS WE CAN STILL WIN THIS!!!

  174. Mahesh says:

Bloody hell – ridiculous one sided, ridiculous goalkeeping…Giggs should have leathered that ball though for fucks sake!!!

  175. fergie is the boss says:

we have missed chances for the past 3 games, and it is a worry

  176. dv-ant says:

    man utd vs neuer
    ffs

  177. slim says:

Come on lads, stick one in, ze germans are zere for ze taking

  178. Zibbie says:

    What a game!!!

  179. kaihnsn says:

good 1st half by united. surprisingly very pen game by both team. hopefully united will keep creating chances in 2nd half and put one of those. come on united.

  180. parryheid says:

Got to say United are impressive Schalke are scrambling.

  181. micho says:

    berba to blame

  182. Dakota says:

oh please..neuer has been average compared to our finishin..

  183. Costas says:

    God damnit!

  184. Cyril Sneer says:

It’s probably a done deal with Bayern, but if Neuer plays like this at Old Trafford I hope our fans applaud him at the end (after we beat them of course). See if 70,000 cheering reds can draw his attention…

  185. Saad says:

And why haven’t we signed Neuer up for, oh i dont know, the next 50 years??????

  186. MG says:

    Gentlemen 3-0 up?

Fucking more like 5 goals and over!!!

Get fucking Yorkie and Coley on the pitch!!!

  187. bah_humbug says:

Fucking brilliant first half. The best consistant 45 minutes of football we’ve produced this season. 10/10.
One thing missing obviously but that was football gold.

  188. Zelh says:

    Till enough time to score.
    late goal by hernandez.

  189. matt says:

    @ fergie is the boss

as long as we keep creating them we’ll get there

  190. Balaji Sivaraman says:

Stop with all the negative comments. I am sorry, but it really irritates me. We are battering them at the moment. This feels like one of “those” days but isn’t. United are playing brilliantly and the only thing standing in our way is a goalkeeper who wants to impress the opposition manager into a summer offer. The problem for them is that their defense is so riddled with holes that anybody can get through it.

All we need is one for their heads to drop and our confidence to kick in.

  191. dazbomber says:

why the fuck dont we just twat it

  192. Mahesh says:

Offer Neuer whatever the hell he wants, offer Shalke whatever they want but GET this guy! this has to be a Ronaldo moment…

However, we need to stop trying to pass the bloody ball in the back of the net…hit the bloody ball with all you’ve got!

  193. karandravs says:

Believe guys…. Patience is a virtue of the brave… we will get that goal …

  194. Jrdonl_india says:

Be positive guys…we are united…ve score when least expected…

  195. Zibbie says:

    COME ON MAN UTD !!!!!!!!!!!!

  196. MG says:

    Fucking hell

Get Sir Alex on the pitch he was a brilliant striker in his day!!!

    ;)

  197. Saad says:

So how bad is Inter really?

  198. manutdisadream says:

neuer is a fucking brick wall. just let us score and then sign for us u twat.
we are playing like winners today, brilliant. we should be in the lead, i feel a goal coming for us, we’ll win this boys!

  199. dannysoya says:

UNBELIEVABLE!!! I COULDN’T COUNT THE NU,BER OF CHANCES WE HAD IN THAT FIRST HALF. Everybody was excellent apart from the finishing . Carrick looks like Xavi on steroids. AMAZING.

GET MANUEL NEUER TO OLD TRAFFORD. OFFER HIM 60 MILLION :) CAN’T REFUSE THAT. loll.

  200. Mahesh says:

Is it only me, or could we have done with Owen on the bench today? This is set up for someone like Owen to keep banging the goals in!

  201. gaz says:

fucking bollocks i hope those chances dont come back and bite us in the ass

  202. Dakota says:

people who are praising neuer for his goal keepin skills are ridiculous..all average saves which even foster would have saved..so please…shut it..about us buyin..him..

  203. TonyBee says:

dont mind if ot goes nil-all….they will shit themselves at OT

  204. slim says:

for me is the finishing that hasn’t been top notch not neuer brilliance.come on lads finish the half time cup of tea and finish them off

  205. Zibbie says:

    They look great!!!!!!!!!!!

  206. MrKirie says:

Yeah, we’ve missed some chances, but then again Neuer has played very well. We’ve had one of our better halves, making good chances and being solid at the back. We would do well with a goal, would definately ease the nerves :)

I think Carrick has been playing very well. Seems more confident on the ball.

  207. Oscar Madison says:

Just don’t give up a cheap one, no mistakes on defense!

  208. ridiclus says:

    11 shots total. 64% pessesion

    http://live.skysports.com/ScoreCentre/football.html

    come on united

  209. Costas says:

What worries me, is that in cases like this you keep them alive long enough for them to win. We should have buried them.

By the way, no Hernandez bashing for missing all those chances? Hate to state te obvious, but if that was Berbatov…

  210. fergie is the boss says:

Mahesh – why do we want to sign someone who does not want to play for united, he is no different to ronaldo torres robben mikel essien ribery schneider who all wanted to play somewhere else, we buy players and keep players who want to wear the united shirt

  211. dazbomber says:

if we get one ,we will get a bag full

  212. Saad says:

A finisher like Michael Owen would’ve put one of those 6 by now. Damn!

  213. bchilds says:

I cannot believe that Schalke are still in this tie let alone this game, fantastic performance from United so far. Controlling the game.

We HAVE to score, have to.

  214. Cyril Sneer says:

Nothing to fear, we will smash them in the second half. He can’t hold on forever.

  215. Dakota says:

both decent finishes..and we could have been up by 2!!

  216. parryheid says:

United are playing fantastic tearing them to shreds god help the Germans once the first goal goes past them Go On United.

  217. falsafa says:

Is this really a Europea semifinal?

  218. TonyBee says:

What’swith every fucker wanting this goalie….heard VDS might be persuaded to stay another year

  219. Zibbie says:

dannysoya since Carrick singed his deal he has looked great.

  220. dannysoya says:

Please just get me my goals and don’t go to sleep FFS cuz this looks like one of those game.s I reject it though. I know we won’t sleep fergie’s gonna keep you awake. SCORE SCORE SCORE COME ON!!!

  221. nania4ever says:

I wasn’t fully sold on this goalie but no matter hom much we beat them by in the second half he as done enouh in my eyes to take over from VDS.

  222. TonyBee says:

just hope they dont sneak a goal

  223. Dakota says:

    Saad- stole my words!!!!!!

  224. Balaji Sivaraman says:

@Saad, More like so How good are United really?

Isn’t this supposed to be the worst United team in history? I see 11 players on the pitch who are doing their best to disagree with that unanimous opinion. Seriously, best European away record and best defensive record, even our 1999 team did not have that. I still think all this game needs is a goal.

@Dakota, It is not the quality of the saves. There are millions of goalies who can produce amazing saves. He reminds me of the Great Dane more than many goalkeepers. It’s the fact that he is leading his club. He has a commanding presence and is like a brick wall in front of the net.

I think it is a long shot for us to get him because a deal is already agreed it seems. But if SAF is impressed enough, nothing is going to stop him from getting what he wants. Ask Ronaldo that if you are not convinced.

  225. slim says:

gotta give a shout out to carrick as well the boy is coming good, hope he continues this way, exactly what we need

  226. fergie is the boss says:

Costas – this is like the 99 game against liverpool in the fa cup, we missed chance after chance. No offence to berbatov but hernadez movement he is making these chances because he knows when to time the runs, and his direct movement is a nightmare for the germans who ARE FUCKING LUCKY 2NIGHT

  227. dela says:

    @Costas
I was about to post something along the same lines just now. Some of us here seem to have a thing for Berba, Gibso, Evans and Carrick- they put a foot wrong and the Football Manager-playing knobs come up with a barrage of ‘sell him, buy Sneijder/Nasri/Heskey’ messages.

  228. Zibbie says:

Total domination with a double dash of frustration that no goal has been scored. This is a 2 game set it is a 180 min clash. An away goal and a shutout and go home. 0-0 is not bad as well.

  229. Dakota says:

Fuck Neuer!!!! fuck Schalke!!! fuck Raul..who has been as effective as Asprin for hangovers!! One decent finish by Roo to make Neuer look like shit through a goose!! C’mon UNITED!!!! time to PULVERISE!!!!!!!!

  230. fergie is the boss says:

but we are being very wasteful infront of goal the past phew games, it has festered since the shitty defeat and got worse against newcastle mising some insane chances

  231. kaihnsn says:

    OptaJoe Opta Sports
56 – Michael Carrick made a game-high 56 passes in the first half v Schalke, completing 91% of them. Conductor.

  232. Costas says:

    @FITB

But he still missed them, lol. Point is, no striker should get slated if he has an off day. Just shows the bias among some fans.

Anyway, lets hope the lads make their chances count in the 2nd half. At this point, I’ll take even one away goal. Really worried about a sucker punch.

  233. TonyBee says:

buy Heskey????? only to clean the OT bogs…….

  234. Bishopville Red says:

Well, that Neuer bloke is a good shot stopper…

Give him a whirl on crosses, lads!

    SB

  235. Mahesh says:

Fergie is the boss – I would love if that were the case, but lets face it none of us can name one world class goalkeeper/player who is guarenteed to come to us and fit our criteria of staying united for life. Yeah, Ronaldo didn’t stay but I don’t regret signing him one bit! We need a hell of a goalkeeper to replace EDVS and thats all I really care about…I don’t know if Neuer is it (like I said our finishing has been less than ruthless), but if he is the real deal I would get him. There’s plenty of time to get him to fall in love with the club at Old Trafford!

  236. Geordiered says:

Chico’s movement is unbelievable, it’s so exciting to watch he’s always giving himself that half a hard on defenders which is why he’s had so many chances. Fantastic signing, future looks bright!!!!

  237. edwin says:

    COME ON UNITED!!!!

  238. MG says:

    In football manager 2011

    I signed Neuer and Sneijder

    But not Heskey and Nasri

  239. redrider says:

Looks like Schalke’s prepping us for Wembley.

I have a feeling their box is a smelly one by now.

    Come on you Reds.

  240. Costas says:

    @dela

Exactly. At least today showed the double standards. Lets hope Chicha will make it right now.

    Come on UNited!

  241. redrider says:

What the fuck is the deal with this Neuer guy?! goddamnit goddamnit!!!

  242. Bishopville Red says:

Oof. That’s a fluffed, line, Sir Ryan.

  243. jespermoses says:

    Giggsy,,,,,,,NOOOOOO!!

  244. Devil310 says:

Carrick has been gigantic so far

  245. Zelh says:

    BELIEVE!

  246. dela says:

    Fuck! What was that Giggsy???

As good as Neuer has been on the night, part of the blame has to be on our finishing, which has been unusually poor tonight.

  247. Balaji Sivaraman says:

22 years of football. Some things never change. Like Scholesy’ tackling or Giggsy’s right foot. LOL! :D

  248. Mahesh says:

FFS Giggs – how many big chances will you miss?? At least pass the bloody ball to Chich who was in miles of space!!!

  249. Dakota says:

    giggsy!!!!!!!!!!!! No!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  250. dela says:

Screw the flag. Chicha has at least shown us that Neuer is still beatable.

  251. Balaji Sivaraman says:

Good news is that we’re playing exactly like we did before the break. There is usually a tendency for the game to reset and it is difficult to regain the momentum. But that does not look to be the case which is good.

Well, we converted a chance which is another good news.

  252. Mahesh says:

Well no bad – that proved that we can put the ball past Neuer. That might be an important finish by Chicho despite the offside!

  253. dannysoya says:

    GIGGS COME ON MANNNNNNN!!!!

  254. ridiclus says:

We need nani on park does not offer enough going forward great player that he is we dont need that steel we need some flair

  255. TonyBee says:

    ANY STREAMS

  256. Mahesh says:

I think we’re just so comfortable right now that we don’t really know what to do with the ball beyond a point…Better not let this continue for long because they will get a chance and they will score given how things are going…

  257. RedHarry4Life says:

anyone worried?…fucking hating way we are fannying about. All these chances we can’t keep fucking about or else we will not be in the final.

    Fuck sake come lads!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  258. utdforever says:

Anyone got a good link.. mine keeps freezing! cheers in advance

  259. Mahesh says:

The thing is I’m not very worried – even if Shalke win this one, we will beat them handsomly at home (or we should). What is frustrating me is how casual we have been with our chances – this is the business end of the season, and we need to be ruthless!

  260. Cyril Sneer says:

    come onnnnnnnnnn!!!!!

  261. Alpha_RS says:

Easy as that. Beautiful. Now lets go for the kill!

  262. redrider says:

    finally baby!!!

  263. Devil310 says:

    FUCK YEAH!!!!!

    RAUL 0 – GIGGS 1

  264. Mahesh says:

    FINALLY!!!!

  265. TonyBee says:

    GET THE FUCK IN ggggiiiiiigggggssssssss

  266. nania4ever says:

thats it come on lets open the flood gates now!

  267. dela says:

Who else but Sir Ryan Giggs? Come on lads. Let’s kill this tie tonight.

  268. Dakota says:

    yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11

  269. Zelh says:

    MORE THAN DESERVED!
    GET IN THERE!

  270. sir_ryan says:

    giggssssssssssssssssssssssss….well done rooney

  271. Miss Meidak says:

    WOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

    GIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGGSY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  272. parryheid says:

Yes at last now bury them lads.Giggs.

  273. Mahesh says:

Lets go get two more and finish this off now!

  274. Balaji Sivaraman says:

See what Sir Alex did there. I am pretty sure that was a change for Rooney to go more central given during the throw in. I might be mistaken but that is exactly what it looked like.

Now, let’s finish the tie off here and now.

  275. ridiclus says:

giggs giggs will u tear u part again

  276. Devil310 says:

I will say it again…..Carrick has been fantastic!

  277. matt says:

did anyonse else realise hernandez movement then? as giggs ran from deep pea pulled back post and drew metzelder with him.. left a massive gap for sir giggs to run into. well played boys

  278. Cyril Sneer says:

    take it bitches!!!!!!! 2-0

  279. TonyBee says:

    2 fucing zip

  280. dela says:

    And the floodgates are open

  281. Zelh says:

    they are for the taking!

    give them a battering!

  282. Dakota says:

    Rooney!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  283. dv-ant says:

    arise sir ryan of giggsalot

  284. sir_ryan says:

rooneyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy…well fucking done…one more, one more to kill them

  285. Mahesh says:

Let the floodgates open!!! Lets get 5!

  286. parryheid says:

Now were cooking with gas Game and Semi over

  287. Balaji Sivaraman says:

What I said? All it needs is one goal for the floodgates to open.

Make sure Wembley is prepared for another visit from Manchester United.

  288. TonyBee says:

    what…… fucking what……….

  289. Sheasy Baby says:

lets go lads lets get 5-0…pour it on!!

  290. Miss Meidak says:

okay I love Neuer now :)

  291. Dakota says:

    Neuer doesn’t look so special now..does he!!!!!!!1

  292. redrider says:

open the gates. we’ve arrived finally.

  293. nania4ever says:

As i said open the flood gates, i think this will be 4-0

  294. Oscar Madison says:

ok, lets hold off on the neuer purchase for now.

  295. markynorbs says:

    Back of the net!

    Get in!

    two-nil

    UNITED!

  296. sir_ryan says:

two goals in a minute…that is united

  297. gerkeo says:

You can only beat what’s in front of you but good lord schalke are muck.

  298. Oscar Madison says:

    Paul Scholes, he scores goals!!!

  299. Dakota says:

Ze germans are not looking zo zpecial now..are zey!!???

  300. Mahesh says:

    Even Ando should score today!!!

  301. Ferane-Mauritius says:

Have anyone see how both rooney n chicha are in complete harmony and love? Coleen beware.

  302. dv-ant says:

    wemberlyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

  303. ridiclus says:

    Dakota

Goalkeepers can only do soo much they need help also, myself i think he has been fantastic for them

  304. Dimitar Berbatov is King says:

Good. Neuer was starting to look great…

  305. Ferane-Mauritius says:

    wembley we are coming…

  306. Balaji Sivaraman says:

Does anyone else find it remotely funny that we’re so good away in Europe and so bad in the Premier League?

Also, I expected more of a fight from Schalke. They are simply rolling over in admiration of the better side. It looks like they are simply in awe of how good we play our football and are letting us do exactly that. I know United have been that good but Schalke do not look like the team that beat Inter Milan (however bad a Milan side it may be?) 7-3 on aggregate.

  307. Ferane-Mauritius says:

    @Berba is king
Right mate, we will stop have neuer pro for now!

  308. Mahesh says:

The thing is, we need to put in another goal or two for insurance. You never know, Shalke might be one of those teams who might actually function away from home – they did Inter pretty badly at the San Siro…

  309. Oscar Madison says:

lets put 2 more in and end this damn thing right here, play subs next leg and focus on Chelsea.

  310. Dakota says:

    ridiclus:-

He’s been made to look good by us..they are 10th in the german league or bundesliga and he is an overrated piece of meat like Kim Kardashian..

  311. Vishal S says:

2 quick goals against a German club. Hmmm any idea wen was the last time united did dat away from old trafford???

  312. ridiclus says:

anyone no what that sign says

  313. Ferane-Mauritius says:

come vDS you are far better than neuer! You are even older than the ref!

  314. sir_ryan says:

Mahesh…I don’t think so, Inter is crap all year and we are unbeaten at home this year, they have no chance IMO, if the lads take it seriously, and they will

  315. Dakota says:

look at Sir Bobby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! isn’t he adorable!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  316. Balaji Sivaraman says:

Also, how much shit do the people who said United have no chance in Europe have on their faces. I remember on this very blog many people saying we don’t have any chance in Europe and that this side will do good to get through the QF etc. etc.

I am sure the same people will be in full force if we do make it to the finals to say we have no chance against Madrid or Barca because they are so much better than us.

It proves once again that when Sir Alex says that he has a squad good enough to challenge on all fronts, he means it word for word.

  317. ridiclus says:

    @ Dakota

i have to disagree, i will say this tho, i wouldnt leave neuer looking like a painters radio but kim kardashian would look like a 20 year old painters radio

  318. Oscar Madison says:

    do not concede now

  319. Ferane-Mauritius says:

SAF looking happy even when ref do not award a freekick on sir giggs! Hmm…. Sign

  320. Mahesh says:

    Ooooh Evra!

  321. Mahesh says:

Carrick must want play Shalke every weekend! He has looked sublime tonight!!

  322. Cyril Sneer says:

come on, give us a Scholesy 30 yard rocket in the last minute!

  323. Vishal S says:

Crawley Town gave us a better fight at old trafford than Schalke.

  324. nania4ever says:

Were these the same players the were running their mouth not being afraid of us and that they were going to beat us, i feel cheated out of the time i spent watching the game , this is one of the worst opposition i’ve seen in a long time, i doubt any team in the premier league played a worst game against us all season an for years for that matter, if we needed any proof of how poor they were carrick never misplaced or loss a ball all game.

  325. Dakota says:

    Hahahahh..brilliant Mahesh!!

  326. Zibbie says:

    What a club!

  327. Ferane-Mauritius says:

    Raul vs Sir Ryan
One do know if was playing today and the other is like a lad of 19 years of age.

  328. Devil310 says:

    Beat Chelsea at home
    Beat Bursaspor at home
    Beat Rangers at home
    Beat Chelsea at home
    Beat Shalke at home

    EXCELLENT RUN AWAY!

  329. TonyBee says:

Christ almighty we made them look crap…..

  330. parryheid says:

They thought they were playing Inter No luck. How do you pick a MOM.

  331. Cyril Sneer says:

So great seeing Raul and Giggsy swap shirts.

  332. falsafa says:

    Raul gets his shirt. LEGENDS!

  333. ridiclus says:

Fergies little look when he shook hands with neuer

  334. kaihnsn says:

very professional perfomance by united. carrick really gives majestic show there. wemberleyyy here we come.

  335. gerkeo says:

Scoreline hugely flatters schalke, united haven’t conceded an away goal in the cl this season.
That ref was top class too.

  336. Zelh says:

    we were never in danger.
our best away performance but schalke was woeful.

  337. Dakota says:

EPIC EPIC EPIC EPIC EPIC EPIC EPIC EPIC EPIC EPIC EPIC EPIC EPIC EPIC EPIC EPIC EPIC EPIC EPIC EPIC EPIC EPIC !!! 18 attempts on goal in a champions league semi final!!!!!

  338. TheEvilDog says:

Wow, what a rape, too bad united couldn’t score some more goals!

  339. ridiclus says:

Rooney was class all night long

  340. Saad says:

SAF should’ve asked Neuer to try on VDS’s shirt and see how it looks!

  341. carloc1978 says:

what a fantastic performace by the team. that keeper is great if only fergie could get him!

  342. Balaji Sivaraman says:

@Ferane-Mauritius, Unfair comparison mate. One was playing for the best side in Europe. Other was playing for the 10th place side in the Bundesliga who looked like they don’t deserve to be in the semi finals of the Champions League.

Seriously, Schalke looked exactly like what they are which is the 10th side in the German league. Even Championship sides from England would give us a better fight than what they gave. That was the easiest performance we’ve had all season. Also, one of the best performances of controlling a game we’ve seen but that’s besides the point.

Still cannot be too sure about anything in football because we’ve been taught that by United of course. But it looks like another Wembley visit is on the cards. Anyone, remember where we won our first European cup BTW? :D :)

  343. dannysoya says:

MICHAEL CARRICK WAS BLOODY EXCELLENT. BEST PLAYER ON THE PITCH. But let’s be honest he was given far too much time on the ball. let’s finish this off at OT next week. COME ON UNITED!!!

  344. MG says:

    God bless you Manchester United

We are the captains of our destiny

    Next:

  345. markynorbs says:

    Well done lad’s
    Good win. London’s calling.

    Wembley . Wembley.

  346. manutdisadream says:

    OH UNITED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
wonderful performance from the lads, nice to see SAF’s smile to neuer and Giggsy swapping shirts with raul

one step closer to the final, cant celebrate yet, but oh my, we should be able to destroy them at OT!

  347. Dakota says:

    we are going to wembahleyyyyy..
    we are going to wembahleyyyyy..
    we are man united..
    we do what we want!!!!

  348. PHZ says:

    Well done :-)
    Carrick was excellent.
Neuer is good shot-stoper, but nothing more. Not near United standard I believe, Couldn’t we just make some clone of VDS? :-)
    Now, bring on Barca scum!

  349. Ferane-Mauritius says:

my man of match Mr Rooney alias ambitions!

  350. Xyth says:

Well done, but we should have pushed for another goal or two and rest few players in the return match!

  351. Penski says:

The team played brilliantly, marginally surpassed only just by Carrick’s performance

  352. Trafford Brown says:

Fuck, I’ve got a ticket for the final, and I’m prepared to fucking use it!

    FUCK YEAH!!!!!!

  353. bchilds says:

Really good performance, well done everyone.

2-0 is the bare minimum we should have got from that game but 2 away goals and a clean sheet is a brilliant result.

  354. fergie is the boss says:

underestimating sckalke, I say the reverse how many thought the press and media said sckalke could cause an upset I thought they all expected they would beat united, we crushed them 2night and they have not even faced the gates of hell in the form of OT. Got to say the patnership of rooney and hernandez has made united into one of the most effective attacking units in europe. I actually feel the trio of giggs rooney and hernandez is the most dizzy attacking trio in europe for any defence to deal with, what u guys think.

we have a new holy trinity giggs rooney hernandez

  355. portugueseprincess says:

Manchester United will be the first team in Champions League history to advance to the final without conceding an away goal. Fingers and everything else crossed. Now lets finish them off at Old Trafford!

  356. parthi says:

Ah! How did this german side manage to reach european semis . just one sided semis. & Carrick, Roo, Giggs top class . Bring on Barca .

  357. redrider says:

    damn you yaya…

  358. Cyril Sneer says:

Does anybody else want to punch McManaman in the face?

  359. Dakota says:

    ridiclus- you are amazing!!

  360. King Eric says:

What did I fucking tell ya lads. Fucking schalke! Easiest semi I have ever seen. Bossed it. Different class to those mugs. Not even gonna praise specific players as they were all top drawer. Moved the germans all over the place. They couldn’t live with united. Gonna be some pissed off abus. I fucking love united.

  361. bah_humbug says:

We were epic. That has got to rank up there in the top 10 away United performances in Europe.
Yes, Shalke were poor, but we made them look poor. Hardly gave them a sniff. The team that hammered the holders 7-3.
I counted about 4 poor passes all night. Scholes made me smile with his calmness when he came on.
    Job half done.

  362. 90+Until We Score says:

Pawned….How the hell we manage to play like this away in Europe and and go missing in England…..still not conceded away from home…..fkin brilliant

  363. Dakota says:

18 shots on goal in a Champions league semi final!!!! beats the shit out of me!!

  364. Passe says:

Un-fucking-believable… That’s what you get when you underestimate Manchester United! Most people tipped Schalke to actually beat us, Redknapp and the fuckers. That should have been 5-6 to nil. We were wasteful as fuck and still raped them.

What can you say about that defense? World-fucking-class. Fabio was immense, Rio and Vida best partnership in Europe by far. Who the fuck wants to criticise Carrick? Ah, no one? Thought so.

Even when our strikers couldn’t hit the famous barn door in the first half our defense kept their nerve. Carrick’s passes were brilliant, Park and Giggs kept the ball and Rooney played like Zidane.

  365. fergie is the boss says:

I have never seen a trio of giggs rooney and hernandez since our attacking trio of ronaldo rooney tevez put defences in this much of a spin. This is without adding valencia park and nani outwide

  366. Dakota says:

fuck you Jamie redknapp- go suck fat franks cock!!!!!

  367. Saad says:

The following are verified bullshit statements made by Schalke personnel before the game:

    Ragnick: “Schalke are more hungry.”

    Really???

    Metzelder: “They don’t scare us.”

    Riiiiiiiiggggghht!!!

  368. Balaji Sivaraman says:

Anybody else read Phil Thompson’s predictions at Sky Sports for a good laugh. If not read that and pretty much every other prediction that had United to struggle against Schalke. They still don’t understand that you should never underestimate Manchester United. You are digging your own grave by doing that.

  369. What Fucking What says:

    Wazza…. what a killer pass….

    Sir Ryan.

  370. United says:

PHEW, Neuer, my goodness that boy was good

Coulda been a cricket score otherwise

    Brilliant stuff from the team!

  371. Gary says:

United were absolutely brilliant. We payed Schalke the utmost respect by not taking them lightly. We could have thought the hard work was done after the Chelsea tie but we soon put any fears about that to rest. 3 European cup finals in 4 years? Just 2 in the previous 129 years, well from when the European cup started. Come on United.

  372. Xyth says:

Just an observation: If only had Fergie substituted Rooney with 5 minutes to go away at Bayern last year, we would have been talking about title No 20 and CL 5!!!

Anyway, bring on Fascists or Barca for that matter!!

  373. dela says:

I can’t recall an easier Champions League game even in the group stages. You have to feel sorry for Raul though. Great player stuck in a shit team.

By the bye, did anyone else notice Fergie shaking hands with Neuer at full time? I can’t recollect him giving any opposition player a pat on the back before

  374. Joel says:

Sensational display. Third goal would have killed the tie for good but what a performance. Carrick my MOM, ran the show brilliantly.

  375. fergie is the boss says:

King Eric – hey hws u, did u check skysports link I sent. I will show u again it is so retarded

    http://www.skysports.com/opinion/story/0,25212,12931_6896243,00.html

I said He better be wrong, but for him to say the prem has been poor and united have been poor, has he watched sckalke in the german league, they are 10th for christ sake which is a crap league

This comment I said is just before the game kicked off

  376. Saad says:

    Off-topic:

Welbeck’s picked up another hamstring injury and out for the rest of the season. Not a good sign. Better take Giggsy’s cue and learn yoga.

  377. willierednut says:

Where’s Jeet? What I say mate, we’re a cut above this team. People need to realize, United are a top class side in Europe now. We were wasteful at times, but the job was done in the end. Wait for the cunts to say this team was poor. No, we made them look poor! Well done lads.

  378. Ferane-Mauritius says:

    @Balaji
Still dont believe this team beat inter!
Evra said we could have won 6!
Feel sad chicha didnt score, but am sure he kept his goal for the gonners!

  379. shubhangmanred says:

Any1 got the video of SAF shaking Neuer’s hand???? See u at OLD TRAFFORD next year…huh?
Made a beeline for him….loked him in the eye and shook his hand….Something cooking huh?

  380. Xyth says:

    @Saad
Even ABU media had their field day on similar lines. Steve Fucking McManaman: ‘Raul can hurt United!’ – He did hurt us indeed.

  381. Dakota says:

    Saad sensational at 20:44!!!!

  382. Cyril Sneer says:

Ryan Giggs oldest player to score in the Champions League??? He can’t stop setting records!

  383. fergie is the boss says:

This is interesting, this link is saying berbs contract talks have broken down. Why dont united just give berbs a 2 year extention, he is just 30

    http://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/2896/premier-league/2011/04/26/2459090/dimitar-berbatov-moves-closer-to-manchester-united-exit-as

  384. King Eric says:

Fitb. Agree mate. We pulled them over the place. Couldn’t live with us. Its laughable the respect these cunts have been afforded. How the fuck can a eleventh placed team play in “champions“ league. The abu s will be choking on their own bile.

  385. Saad says:

Don’t take this to mean that I’m dissing Carrick but I don’t think we should look too much into tonight’s performance. Carrick has indeed been really good lately but Schalke made him look more like Xavi tonight, their midfield was THAT bad.

  386. parryheid says:

Roll on tomorrow and see the bundles of cards getting flashed.

  387. slim says:

fantastic nights lads, we are United and the haters will be squirming now, one foot in the final of the UCL, one hand on the premiership trophy. Its Fucking On. Come on United.

  388. Costas says:

As Fergie would say, deary me! Was that one sided or what?

Well done boys. Saving my celebrations for next week. ;) Now for the Arseholes!

  389. Saad says:

    @King Eric

That’s why I asked at half time:

    How bad is Inter REALLY?

Sneijder better jump ship and come over to OT stat!

  390. Saad says:

Stoke City have somehow learned how to score goals.

    Good. Save some for City!

  391. slim says:

    @Saad

I don’t get it. When xavi does it, he’s magnificent, when carrick does it the team gave us too much space. There is a reason why xavi has the space he has to operate(he can also play in tight spaces) the opposition is worried about not just him, he starts of the move, villa, messi and co finish off. Same thing here, carrick starts the move, keeps up ticking over and our wingers and strikers keep then pinned back and constantly guessing what we’re gonna do.

  392. willierednut says:

United will batter that team at OT. Arsenal is the big one.

  393. stone says:

Thank fuck berba was not there to spoil things

  394. fergie is the boss says:

King Eric – I do feel if we go into the CL final, an attack of rooney and hernandez, the guile of carrick and giggs, but the workmanl like of either valenica and park to go along side nani we can deny barca or the virus the space. They will be starved of energy battering each other for another 2 more times. We may not win it who knows, BUT WE WILL GIVE IT A FUCKING GD GO THIS TIME ROUND, unlike 2 years ago when we were not even fit to play.

I think we will be a better attacking unit

    united 2009 CL final attack
    park rooney ronaldo

united 2011 CL final possible attack
    nani giggs rooney hernandez

anyoen else feel we will prove a more potent side going forward, and more smarter keeping the ball

  395. King Eric says:

Fitb. Ha. Greg knows fuck all. We will be lucky to escape with a three one loss. Fucking clown.

Willie. Too right pal. United are a class apart in europe. We are looking at three fucking finals in four year. Fucking barca my arse.

  396. Saad says:

    @slim

Defenders mark the forwards whilst the midfielders are supposed to rush the opposition’s midfielders. What makes Xavi really good is that he almost NEVER loses the ball even when he’s been pressed by the opposition midfielders.

Carrick felt no pressure today coz the Schalke midfielders were virtually non-existent.

  397. ridiclus says:

    DAKOTA

In a good way or a bad way

  398. Sheasy Baby says:

can smell the final now…gotta make sure we handle our business at OT which im sure we will….lets get the double! come on lads!

    GLORY GLORY MAN UNITED!!!

  399. dela says:

    @stone
I just have two words for you- fuck off.

  400. sachu says:

4 conclusions schalke 04 should be schalke shit inter must be the worst gill pls sign nuer today we r the best

  401. parryheid says:

    Saad.

Regarding Carrick’s display tonight Take the day off.

  402. Mtanzania says:

I wonder what SAF said to Neuer at the end of the game when they shook hands.

  403. sachu says:

@ dela spot on mate why the fucking shit is stone blaming berba when he is not even in germany still the leading scorer in bpl u moron stone long live berbagasm

  404. willierednut says:

King Eric – I knew Fergie wouldn’t take the Germans lightly. He’s learned from the games against Leverkusen and Dortmund. Our tactics were spot on. We’ve proved now, how good we are in Europe. I understand some feeling nervous about the tie, but I was always confident we’d do the job.

  405. Saad says:

    @parryheid

You implying that I usually have a go at Carrick??

I have never dissed Carrick before (not even after the FAC semi) and I haven’t tonight. He’s always been one of my favs.

  406. xol says:

lol @radio 5live, “The most one-sided game between German and English opponents since the World Cup”

  407. sachu says:

@dela i have a strong suspicion stone must be one of theguys who abused gibbo on twitter

  408. vILHELM28 says:

We are extremely blessed and lucky to have lived, witnessed and been touched by the legend SAF. I can’t get over what an outstanding manager he is.

  409. Devil310 says:

    @CedarsDevil

Hello mate, just saw your question about Vegas. Thanks for asking. I’m well and rested now. Although, I woke up with a tiger in my room….lol

    MASSIVE WIN TODAY!

  410. Karandravs says:

I was hell scared .. We have done this before in Germany in knockouts, played some great football but returned empty-handed, but today was not that day. Patience and resilience of carrick and Tony were exemplary . This could have been any score we wanted but we settled at 2-0. The Gaffer will finally catch a return flight from Germany in knockouts with a smile. I am still not sure of neuer on this performance alone though he does look huge with good reactions. Chicharito is a revelation.. He tore and streched their defense all over the park and gives Wazza the freedom to drop back and play cross field balls to Tony .. Celebrate this win and look forward to nearly wrap up the title at emirates ..

  411. Red Devil says:

    King Eric

I would like to name one player today who i felt was absolutely sublime…and its MICHAEL CARRICK….
AFter all the shit he gets on here, he’s shown all those cunts what he’s all about tonight….he ran the game majestically spraying passes at ease…brilliant performance

The ABU cunts will put it all on a poor performance by Schalke and totally ignore the near flawless performance by United (except for all the missed one on ones and chances in the first half where it seemed Dortmund 97 all over again)

All those wanking over Barca as the greatest team ever would do well to humbly suck on some balls…fucking cunts……if this is one of Fergie’s worst teams as so many people say, then I shudder to think what one of his better teams can do….fucking clueless cunts the lot of them…

  412. Utd4life says:

Schalke maybe shit but you only beat whats in front of you..Another goal and the match would be truly over..So there’s still a bit of work to be done which will be taken care of at OT..All in all, fantastic performance from the lads, no injuries, no one busted their guts so we are i n good shape..Bring on the gooner babies..GGMU!!!!!

  413. dela says:

    @sachu
I wouldn’t be surprised either. Every club has its share of dimwitted glory-hunting supporters. Stone is part of ours.

  414. fergie is the boss says:

willierednut – hearing some annoying united fan on 5live, saying the 2 biggest teams playing tommorow ever. Yea barca have won the same amount of euro titles has united, yea and the virus spent 400 million to get back into the elite.

  415. King Eric says:

Stone is a fucking cunt wum. All you do pal is slate berbatov. Piss off you fucking mug. United have won tonight yet no mention. You didn’t even know the correct scoreline at st james park.

  416. Karandravs says:

No more carrick bashing now .. Just wait for one bad game and everyone will forget this and scream to take his head off..

  417. Saad says:

Aside from the win, I’m really glad that none of the following got carded in the game:

VDS, Vidic, Evra, Giggs, Chicharito, Nani, Anderson and O’shea

All these guys were on 1 yellow card each. Had anybody gotten one in this game and the next, they would’ve missed the final.

Now, unless something drastic happens and someone gets a red at OT, all of our first-teamers should be available for the final, barring injury.

  418. fergie is the boss says:

Saad – im glad none of them got injured, it is amazing what 1 year can make for some players, rooney for example

  419. willierednut says:

Oh yeah, Neuer Is class. He’s going to Bayern though.

  420. sachu says:

how can anybody question berbagod 22 goals hatrick vs pool never has he moaned abt being on the bench and i am sure he will be there next year come on berbaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

  421. Red Devil says:

Stone you despicable cunt…..leave him alone guys…. he’s either a cockney cunt or a livershite fan here to kick up a shit storm…

  422. sachu says:

@willie he hasnt signed the contract there is hope gill must be talking to his agent now

  423. Miss Meidak says:

90 minutes of watching United play football so god damn B-E-A-UTIFULLY…. pure bliss!

  424. Zibbie says:

    ROONEY IS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  425. willierednut says:

sachu – I think the deals already agreed. He doesn’t want to leave Germany.

  426. parryheid says:

    Saad.

Yup,or are you saying your post at 20 51 was complimentary? Not the way I see it.

  427. Zibbie says:

FITB love the trio of Giggs Rooney and Lil Pea
mACDONKEY CUNT SUCKS SHIT WHEN HE DOES THE ESPN SHOW HE ROOTS AGIANST MAN UTD!!!!!!!

  428. Saad says:

    @parryheid

Then you didn’t understand what I meant. Fair enough.

I meant that against such a crap midfield who put virtually no pressure on Carrick all night, his performance was UNSURPRISINGLY excellent.

Carrick’s performance against Chelsea was far more impressive in my opinion simply because of the strength of the opposition.

  429. parryheid says:

    Saad.

    Got you my apologies.

  430. Sharpey's Infamous House Party says:

Great game. Carrick bossed it, but pretty much had all the room in the world to operate! Bring on Arsene’s whingers!

  431. King Eric says:

Red devil. Hello mate. How’s it going? Spot on at nine sixteen pal. Nail on the head.

  432. fergie is the boss says:

sachu – he has scored 22 goals, but we have seen the past phew months since rooney and hernandez were partnered every game, united look far more fluent and more potent going forward with the central trio of giggs rooney and hernandez interchanging

  433. Red Devil says:

    King Eric

Thanks mate…I am ok…really chuffed after the great performance…too bad some people like stone still cant find reasons to be positive after such a great night…

  434. denton davey says:

Karandravs @ 21:15: “The Gaffer will finally catch a return flight from Germany in knockouts with a smile.”

I think that you’ll see pictures of SAF in Madrid tomorrow evening.

  435. karandravs says:

@denton Pity the Gaffer, not a moment of peace for him !!! Expect him to watch the elClassico and return with plans against “The Not So Special One” or Pep. The Professional that he is, he would already have made up his mind for Emirates. Let wrap it all till May 8, and give Carrick all the time to prepare for Wembley to exorcise his ghosts of 2009 !!

  436. Unitedyankee says:

Warren Barton on Fox soccer in US- “Rooney plays w better teammates on United than in the England squad”. United >> England!!

  437. Samuel - united WE stand says:

Just a lil bit of caution to some united fans claiming shalke are shit, its never over till its officially over, they’ll come old oldtrafford Feeling they’ve got nothing to lose and will throw men forward, now we must not take them lightly, we have to professional in the 2nd leg and try kill it off, german sides are never dead till fully buried and concreted.

great performance by the players, individually and collectively they all played well, the rest evra got against everton seems to have put a spring in his steps and he played well, fabio was good too and i start to wonder if he’ll come from no where and claim the right back spot? we shall see.

Hernandez was quality again, i spotted shalke’s weakness would be metzelder’s lack of mobility and he was exposed by rooney and chicha

We need to get more clinical in front of goal though, all this misses may be punished by better team’s.

Anyway no Time to dwell on the past, we move unto the next mission, which is to play against a very dangerous, very frustrated arsenal side. we need to be compact and solid in that difficult game too.

  438. King Eric says:

Samuel. Oh come on. There’s fuck all germans in the team mate. United won’t squander this now. We are hitting top form. We will hammer them at home. Leagues apart. Said the same pre kick off.

  439. willierednut says:

Did you watch the game Samuel? I think if United score early in the 2nd leg, It could be anything. They can thrown men forward all they like, United will pick them off.

  440. Boston-Man.Utd says:

What a joy it was to take care of business away from home ! Bring eer

  441. Dakota says:

Rooney is the bomb!!! Took a while into the game to get it on, but the goals came !
