Diamond eh? Let’s see if it works, should be busy in midfield.

  2. WeAreUnited says:

so it’s 4-33 not bad, but Jones is the only mystery for me

this I think should mean carrick plays more advanced`?

  3. Bharat says:

    Nani?

  4. DEVILisRED says:

    no natural width…

  5. McQueen says:

I agree with the diamond for this game. In theory anyway! Would’ve liked to see Nani on the bench though.

  6. dannysoya LOVES USAIN BOLT says:

Jones? That’s a bit of a surprise. Nani not even in the team altogether. Alright lads let’s win this.

  7. andromeda says:

Whatever the lineup, just let us finish it!!glad it is not postponed!!

  8. Red4ever says:

What the fu*k ehhh no rooney no tony v omg whts going to happen pray to god

  9. Hans says:

    Where is Jones gonna play?

  10. Costas says:

Back to missing out on the squad completely for Nani. Which is kind of weird since he wasn’t our worst winger against West Ham…

  11. belfast red. says:

    Bring it on! C,mon United!

  12. busbytr says:

Jones in this kind of match?Giggs would have made my dream team, success to u my team

  13. andromeda says:

The diamond could work this time pretty well.

  14. UnitedFaithful says:

Will be interesting to see how we perform because we haven’t played without wingers in big games.Maybe jones to give little bit of muscle in midfield?

  15. andy says:

    5-3-2! Thats just great!!!

  16. TheCANTONA says:

Jones as right full back, why do people here still suprise, eh?

  17. iDon says:

I don’t like this formation at all

  18. jay says:

would have much preferred anderson starting in place of jones. still is he gonna play at the base or as a shuttler

  19. TheCANTONA says:

Rafael as right mid or right winger (no matter what u call it), seems SAF already got tired with our wingers form.

  20. TheCANTONA says:

    @Jay:
So Ando could play as full back then?

  21. alfREDo says:

Maybe Jones at RB and Rafa advanced ??

  22. Alexpau says:

Bale and Lennon will run the utd full back ragged!

  23. Vijay says:

Valencia and Rooney in place of jones and welbeck,

  24. TheCANTONA says:

Seems SAF wants to neutralized Bale. Very interesting.

  25. NigerianRed says:

I wonder if this means Nani is still on his way out, or SAF is trying out his formation for Real Madrid (Rooney should make that team though) or he’s just trying to let Nani and Valencia know they have to wake up or the team will move on without them.
Anyway, I believe in him and I’m sure this team is good enough. I want payback for the old trafford loss and I want it with a lot of goals.
Let’s give them hell in their own backyard!!!

  26. Pazzer says:

Jones in the middle is understandable. Maybe helping to stop dembele, who’s been a thorn in our side every time he plays against us. I hope we destroy them, thinking they’re a massive club all of a sudden because they’re 4th. Wankers need to be put in their place.

  27. Dev says:

Why are people so hung up about playing positions?

The modern game is fluid and constantly evolving on the pitch. This is by no means a rigid tactic and Sir Alex favours quick interchanges all over the pitch. For all we know, Welbeck is playing as an auxiliary winger instead, Jones is playing in the centre in front of the central defence and Rafael is playing as a right back instead of winger.

  28. wayne says:

Why the fuck is Jones a surprise he’s as talented as fuck

  29. Andromeda says:

    @Dev
    well said.

  30. Dan-young says:

Good lineup.. Dont understand the complaints before a ball has even been kicked. Jones and carrick in midfield always pick up great positions to re-gain possession which is needed in this match. And then with clevz and kags linking midfield to attack we should have a good game. Our fullbacks will provide the width, cause with our wingers current form it would be pretty desperate to depend on them. You guys seem to be unaware of the fact we can make 3 substitutions in the match so if it comes to it we definitely have enough ammunition on the bench for a plan b

  31. Scorp says:

I wonder if this is how we are going to line up at Bernabeu, with Rooney in for Danny and Ando in for Jones.

  32. gene says:

rafael playing on the wing or jones in midfield?

  33. TheCANTONA says:

    @wayne:
u see the comments above its baffling me to see how many people here so dumb to spot jones position today let alone his talent…

  34. WeAreUnited says:

    @wayne

when you look at the line-up firstly you’d think it’s 433 so Jones i nthe middle is a surprise

but if it’s 422 and rafael playing as a wideman, then Rafael playing asa winger is a surprise

    which it is, we’ll see.

The surprise isn’ t that the lad is not talented, why so sensitive, it’s because like I said, in a 433 you’d expect a midfielder there, if it’s 422 you don’t expect rafael as a wideman even though he playe against west-ham.

    peace

  35. WeAreUnited says:

so sensitive when people share their opinion, TheCantona, is ti dumb whern you look at first the line-up looks like a 433 with a diamond and Jones there is a surprise no matter what.

  36. Jish Inc. says:

Jones at right back Rafael at right wing to double up on bale. Not bad considering the option i.e Tony v and nani.

  37. TheCANTONA says:

    @WeAreUnited:
meh, its not conservative 442 formation. more like 442 diamond with kag will playing more centrally. rafael with his tenacy and passion will deal with pacey winger bale.

  38. dannysoya LOVES USAIN BOLT says:

no way Jones works down the middle. That is Carrick territory. Jones will probably be helping Rafa out on the wings A LOT. He will also join in the attacks at times too.

  39. wayne says:

Is Jones even 20,first year at the club as a teenager Sir Alex played him at fullback, centrre half and midfield, some of you daft cunts have no idea how good he is

  40. Scorp says:

Leaving Nani out of the team was an expected decision. He is probably not even fully match fit, I’d pick Valencia over Nani currently. If we need someone to run on that flank today, it’s Valencia. He’d play a huge part in stopping Bale as well.

  41. TheCANTONA says:

sorry mate when i see the line up i immediately recognize SAF would play with diagonal 442 today with jones as full back. i’m so sorry if u couldnt.

  42. Dan-young says:

I think its more of a
    rafael, vidic, ferdinand, evra
    Clevz,carrick, jones
    Kagz
    Rvp, welbeck

  43. McQueen says:

I think Rafa will be full back with Jones on the right of a diamond helping out with Bale. Would rather have it that way round.

I believe Bale is familiar with the inside of Rafael’s pocket.

  44. WeAreUnited says:

well I am just watching skysports

    and the line-up was 433.

Jones is talented nothing to do with that, but to play him as a midfielder in THIS game was a surprise.

    why so sensitive, especially @wayne

    people just sharing their opinions?

  45. Hans says:

I think we should play our strongest team, and play our way, and let them think about stopping us!!!!

  46. TheCANTONA says:

    @WeAreUnited:
without any real winger on this line up how could u see this as 433 formation?

  47. Scorp says:

We have done well against Spurs with a diamond. We tore them to shreds 2 years back at WHL when they were on top form. Ando, Giggs and Scholes, until his red card, were superb that day.

  48. Ash says:

It is a tricky game. We have to play really well to get 3 points. I won’;t mind a draw but 3 points would be great. Welbeck will be the key. Happy he is getting consistent game time. We have great bench also. Hell we have ROONEY AND HERNANDEZ.

VIDIC-RIO starting together for 2 consecutive league games :) . Don’t remember when was that last time. Maybe stats Man Costas could say that ;)

  49. Dev says:

I think it’s not entirely impossible for Jones to play centrally but helping out on the flanks if needed.

Bale likes to cut in a lot, he’s not really your traditional winger ala Valencia per se.

  50. TheCANTONA says:

    @WeAreUnited:
im just tired reading the so called fans moans even before we start the game..

  51. belfast red. says:

R.v.p is the man. Did any of yous see that interview there now on skysports1? You can tell he is totally in love with United. And we adore him. Its a match made in heaven.

  52. Dev says:

    TheCANTONA

Cleverley and Welbeck are not entirely strangers on the flanks…

They can operate as auxiliary wingers.

  53. TheCANTONA says:

i’m off before im got really angry reading match day comments on here.
    UNITED! UNITED! UNITED!

  54. Ash says:

Its a shame that some people here are writing Jones off. He is a bloody talented player. Like wayne said he is just 20. He is a beast of a player.

  55. fergie is the boss says:

the diamond never has suited us, but with young injured it does change our entire shape which is a shame. Time for kagwa to step up to the plate, united still have a major goalscorring threat, but it does make united narrow, and the way kagwa has been playing, it is a concern in terms of shape. Positives? we have plenty of weapons on the bench

  56. WeAreUnited says:

    @TheCantona

well just recognise those who really mean it, and those that come here just to say something.

Don’t care about some, because sometiems they can share same opinions with people who come here many times, and suddenly you are getting slagged just because you saying your opinion.

for the 433, it’s simple, Jones has played in midfield, though it’s a surprise. and Rafael as a RB, nothing a surprise in my eyes. Just Jones, but I get his strenght.

Skysport had it 433, I don’t know , whatever for me, I just shared my opinion, didn’t bash him or slagged him :D

don’t be so sensitive, and not only you, so many people defend the players like they are their brothers.

    Anywway, letäs move on

  57. UnitedFaithful says:

No reason to become so fixated on bale.Yes he is a good player but when have we started changing our approach to a game because of one player.Isn’t it 11 vs 11?

  58. TheCANTONA says:

    @Dev:
meh, with carrick doing his best alonside clevz, it would be terrible idea. the only player who could play wide here (beside welbeck) is kagawa, thats what his position but i believe he’ll play more centrally later…

  59. wayne says:

Not sensitive at all Jones is a major talent and obviiously Sir Alex loves him good enough for me,people questioning his slection considering he’s so young and talented just makes me fucking laugh

  60. WeAreUnited says:

    @ash

nothing to do with Jones not being talented or so on.

DID ANYONE HERE SAY HE IS NOT TALENTED????

    NO.

so shut up people, itäs a surprise him playing as a midfielder if we go 433 liek skysportss put it.

    @belfast

i saw it. HE IS IN LOVE WITH THE CLUB. you could see it.ARsenal is just an ex-girlfriend who was a mistake

  61. Dev says:

    TheCANTONA

We shall see. After so many years in the business, Sir Alex still adapts and surprises.

  62. TheCANTONA says:

    @UnitedFaithfull:
bale is not sole reason why we’ll play with this formation. combine that with valencia’s form, nani’s situation and young’s injury.

  63. WeAreUnited says:

    @wayne

but no-one said he’s not talented???? if did, then the yare delusional.

what the hell, don’t make stuff up. IN MY OPINION. it’s a surprise that Jones is starting. PERIOD

just how I see it. nothing to do with his talent-

    LET’s MOVE ON!

  64. TheCANTONA says:

    @Dev:
indeed mate indeed… ok i’m off now.
    UTD! UTD! UTD!

  65. WeAreUnited says:

    @TheCantona

    have fun mate!!

it tends to get so nervy here, when we need these 3 points

    peace

  66. andromeda says:

    —————————-De Gea————————-
    Raffael Ferdy Vida Evra

    Jones

    Carrick Cleverly

    Kagawa

    Rvp———————Welbeck

  67. wayne says:

Bale ave is 1 goal every 10 shots and has 1 assist will someone please tell me why he’s rated so highly

  68. Dev says:

To be fair, i’m more worried about Lloris than Bale.

    Lloris is actually world class.

  69. kel says:

This formation is boring but effective and if they play well then alright

  70. Emyoueffsee says:

I’m not too keen on this line up tbh.I think it lacks creativity and we will be too reliant on Kagawa to create and he hasn’t exactly been in top form lately. At least we have a great bench to change it up.I predict a 1- 1 score.

  71. WeAreUnited says:

do you see the line-up WAYNE? and THECANTONA

jones is in midfield and rafael RB

so who is the dumb one`? who is not spottign his talent and knowing where he plays

    CMON UNITEEEEEEEEED

PS. Jones is a surprise and let’s hope he does well in the mid.

  72. belfast red. says:

Kagawas favored role. Lets see him shine! C,mon!

  73. Emyoueffsee says:

David Pleat has called Kagawa Kagagowa and Kagwaya in the space of 10 seconds.

  74. wayne says:

Not making stuff at all mate WTF are you talking about you called me sensitive about Jones being included simple fact is I rate him so you need to stop writing shit and shut the fuck up.Another thing stop pasting that stupid fucking response to samuel nobody gives a fuck

  75. Dev says:

Indeed. Kagawa as the “second striker” instead of Welbeck.

Welbeck enjoys cutting in rather than crossing, so I guess we can expect him to be in the box more often than not.

  76. Dev says:

Also, Villas-Boas prefers to play a really high defence line, and pressing the United defence.

We can expect Tottenham to have a lot of possession and United trying to him them quick on the break.

  77. WeAreUnited says:

    @wayne

    you’re a bully nothign more,

    A BULLY.

    shut up.

nobody said anything that Jones is not talented. WHO DID??????? and what I write to samuel is my own thing, cause people are so sensitive here and don’t response when the yare wrong.

NOBODY, and I repeat NOBODY said Jones is not talented. that is your excuse mate not mine.

  78. Sushi says:

What’s with the weird camera angle ? Feels like its 20 km above
    The pitch

  79. Dev says:

As Welbeck cuts in, expect Phil Jones to fill in the space he has vacated.

  80. WeAreUnited says:

    @sushi

it’s always like that in whitehart lane

@wayne and one more thing, just because people say their opinion doesn’t mean that they dislike the player.

Jones in the mid was a surprise for some people. nothing more. Nobody said he’s not talented because obviously he is.

so this is your last time you respond to me like a bully when I explain it to you. I had enough of your I am always right and whoever says somethign abotu a player is a plastic.

    peace.

  81. Emyoueffsee says:

    Terrible goalkeeping by De Gea.Lucky.

  82. James7t7 says:

Msg to de gea – stop pushing the ball out! Deal with it properly!

  83. Dev says:

Evra stood his ground because he knew Defoe was offside.

    Chill lads.

  84. wayne says:

Simple fact is by questioning his inclusion is questioning his ability you daft cunt I’m not a bully I point out nonsense

  85. andromeda says:

We have a Usain Bolt in our local lad Danny!!great performance.

  86. Dev says:

So Kyle Walker and that foul on Rafael wasn’t a yellow but Carrick’s first was?

    Incredible.

Also, if I dived in front of a player with possession I get a free kick? This ref is a joke.

  87. Emyoueffsee says:

Kagawa ineffective so far. It’s crazy having Rooney on the bench.

  88. mara says:

We just need o win, to keep Shitty behid us…

  89. Walata says:

    RVP!!!!!!

  90. James7t7 says:

    Wooooooo cmon lads!!!

  91. andromeda says:

    Great goal!!!!

  92. belfast red. says:

    Get fuckin in there! Yeeha!

  93. Walata says:

Wonderful cross by Cleverly…after some good work by Welbeck

  94. McQueen says:

OOOOOOOH ROBIN VAN PEEEEEERSIE!!!!! Great goal all round. Great build-up play.

  95. WeAreUnited says:

    @wayne

shut up and don’t call me a cunt .

    It’s not like that.

If I say why he is playign it doesn’t mean I doubt his ability

but questioning that why Ando or Giggs is not for exapmle playing. Nothing to do with talent. For example if I question why Valencia is not playing but Welbeck, I am not queestioning Welbecks ability

    end of story

    you BULLY

  96. RedBorneo says:

    Van Persieeeeeeeeeeeee…. ROBIN VAN SAVIOR..
Stop to make fucking noise here guys, just enjoy the game..

  97. WeAreUnited says:

    @wayne

and If I did doubt one day his ability what makes you the king of opinions?

oare they your family? cmon be reasonable

and yo uhsould be an older person who should have patient, but you’re a bully, won’t respond you anymore.

    OOO ROBIN VAN PERSIEEEEEEEEE

  98. Walata says:

Looking at Cleverly’s cross again…it was a floating curling sumptuous ball that was just described on FSC as an “invitation” :)

  99. Dev says:

In fact, i’m going to put my balls on the table and say that Phil Jones is key for this tactic to work. Chiefly because

    1. Dempsey enjoys looking for space in between the opposition’s midfield and Defence. That’s how he creates chances and scores on rebounds. We all know how Defoe needs an ungodly amount of shots before he gets them in.

    2. Gareth Bale enjoys cutting in on the inside rather than playing out wide and pumping in crosses.

By Phil Jones being there, this 2 very key components of Tottenham’s play are negated. Jones has already intercepted a good amount of shots and won a few headers from Lloris’s searching balls.

Jones also allows Welbeck to cut inside, and when he feels like he can he’ll fill in the space Welbeck vacates. Although Cleverley currently drifts out right, that extra man (Jones) allows Cleverley to switch flanks when needed without worrying about empty space.

Not only does Phil Jones’ play stop Tottenham from playing their game, he allows United to play theirs.

  100. Walata says:

Seems like our setup is to contain & create fast counter attacks….doesn’t seem like we want to keep possession that much

  101. Sushi says:

Does Scott Parker come out of change room with shit already on his clothes lol?

  102. andromeda says:

    Someone said”Kagawa is ineffective”Cough

  103. Dev says:

    Walata

That’s good, because at the end of the day the only statistic is the “goals” category. In other words, what you do with your possession.

Villas-Boas is known for his tactical inflexibility, it’ll be interesting to see what he does to find a solution for Phil Jones. More interestingly, what Sir Alex will do when Phil Jones has already run himself ragged.

For me, the real tactics battle starts after half time.

  104. Red4ever says:

Great say dev ,,,,good thinking but we need wazza in there for some creativity and threat in the final 3rd

  105. WeAreUnited says:

BEST goalkeeper in the PL DDG

  106. McQueen says:

    What a save from DDG

  107. Dev says:

    statistic that matters*

Brainfart. Apologies. Also, anyone having second thoughts about de Gea should appreciate how good he is on the ball. He passes like a Spanish midfielder. Lindegaard is marginally better in the goalkeeping department but his distribution, kicking or throwing, is atrocious.

  108. Mick says:

Danny really does need to practice his crossing!!

  109. belfast red. says:

Welbeck is doing a great job. He Looks dangerous every time he goes forward. Keep it up lad.

  110. belfast red. says:

Ths could be a long second half with pat on a yellow… Sir Alex has got it spot on tho.

  111. dannysoya LOVES USAIN BOLT says:

How about Danny Welbeck. He was FANTASTIC in that first half. His stamina is incredible. He can keep running for ages without stopping.

I don’t care how many years Rafael has left on his current contract. We need to give him a brand new five year deal. He was absolutely SUPERB. I was watching him closely. WHAT A PLAYER. Hopefully Fabio comes back from his loan and is as good as rafael or even better.

All we need to do is add some more goals in the second half and we should be fine. Good performance in the first half. Brilliant save by De Gea from Bale btw. That was top class.

  112. WeAreUnited says:

    @belfast

yeah Welbeck has been ver ygood the last 20min I hope he continues, he looks very dangerous.

Do we have another Beckham in oru hand in Cleverley? or is it too bold to say that.

    @dev

for me DDG is betetr also in goalkeeping also, he saves everything with every siblge way, plus he has those attributes you mentioned, he’s almost th ideal keeper.

Needs that 1 year more, and that’s it. DDG great keeper

  113. nicky says:

fuckin commentators better eat there word. their attitude is shit

  114. Hans says:

Not bad but Welbeck could be more efficient. He could have easily scored the second, just thatball comtrol continues to le hi down at crucial times.

There are more goals in this for us. Would bring on Rooney and Tony. There is a lot of space at their back that they could exploit.

Also it is very annoying how cheaply at times we are giving the ball away. All we have to do now is play it simple and safe and wait for the next opportunity that surely will come.

  115. Emyoueffsee says:

@andromeda.That was me and up until his part in the goal he was very quiet but he does have some lovely touches.Has a tendency to drift in and out of games though. If Welbeck could finish he’d be a top player(copyright Harry/Jamie Redknapp).

  116. wayne says:

You’re a cunt becaue you judged Jones before giving him a chance support the lads who Sir Alex picks to wear the shirt, what do you think now at half tiome,Jones looks pretty good to me

  117. Red4ever says:

Danny lad should improve his composure and finishing he will be world class player for sure,,but for second half we need to bring wazzza back for kagawa ,,,,,rvp best in the world way way way better than falcao,,fuckinf fifa people put that cunt ahead of RVP

  118. AntiScouser says:

It would be delusional to deny De Gea’s heroics. He’s a joy to watch, a great keeper in the making.

  119. Costas says:

I was worried that Fergie lined up for this game thinking only about definding, but United have looked pretty good on the break. Lets hope we defend just as well in the 2nd half. Don’t know how many we are going to score with this formation. Welbeck and Cleverley don’t look entirely comfortable as wingers.

  120. Dev says:

I want the meerkat toy. Ugh.

Agreed. Welbeck had a horrible first 2-3 minutes, with all the misplaced passes and poor first touch. But it’s plainly evident that he’s a great player.

I believe Rooney will come on for Kagawa in the 60-odd minute, assuming things stay the way. Doubt that will happen though.

  121. Hans says:

    @nicky
I haver David Pleat. Surely it is time he retired!
[Still better than Steve YSB McManaman or Craig fucking Burley]

  122. Dela says:

Would love to see Danny smash one in, he’s working so fucking hard for it, all he needs I think is to smash the net off the frame of the goal once and he’ll get such a boost from that.

Loved the sly look of satisfaction on RvP’s face when he scored, the lad hates the Spuds for the years of abuse as an Arsenal player.

  123. lawman10 says:

why do they keep going on about the weather? it’s not that bad for fucks sake!!
not a great game let’s get the 3 points & tick another off.
    come on reds!!!!

  124. WeAreUnited says:

I NEVER DID SAY HE WIL LNOT DO BAD

@wayne you twisting my words mate, I always support them. I think Jones is our future CB and will be oru future captain. But it doesn’t mean I can’t say or question his playing in the middle.

he is doing really well, and I was wrong doubting him and thinking someone else should start

But I NEVER, I repeat , NEVER doubted him as a PLAYER or his ability. I just SAID it was a sruprise seeing him play.

I judged based on our formation, I thought in 433 it would have been better with kagawa, carrick and cleverley and our attack welbeck rooney and rvp, that’s why it was a surprise. But liek we can see, it’s working.

and stop calling me a cunt, because that makes you a bully. I ONLY said my opinion, what’s the matter?

  125. Emyoueffsee says:

@wayne Stop calling people cunts over the internet. What kind of person can’t get his point across/disagree with someone without abusing them. It’s disgusting and I can’t believe you get away with it.If you spoke to me that way in person I’d break your jaw with a clatter.

  126. Dev says:

Perhaps Villas-Boas will get Bale to switch flanks and try to get Evra a second yellow.

  127. WeAreUnited says:

    I meant

I NEVER DID SAY HE WILL NOT DO GOOD***

  128. Ash says:

Decent half. Finish off the game boys.

  129. belfast red. says:

@weareUnited. Yeah the cross frm clevs was very beckham esq :) . Rednapp even said it. :o . Clevs has been far more effective on the right. Kagawa has had some sumblime touches. Hes still finding his feet in prem imo. But you can see the quality in him. I wouldn’t change a thing in 2nd half and see what the wankie in a blankie does first. Evras is my only concern with being on a yellow and Lennon bombing at him.

  130. Costas says:

    @Dev

No need to. Lennon is doing a pretty good job of it so far anyway. Evra is missing Young’s help in this game.

  131. WeAreUnited says:

    @Emyoueffsee

cheers mate for giving me some support, cause he’s acting liek a bully.

If you read my comments or others, we never said or doubted Jones ability.

Just surprised, and this lad calls everyone out because we “doubt” his ability by sharing oru opinions.

  132. McQueen says:

Agree with comments, Welbeck has been quality, just wish he cut it back for Kagawa that time tho. Just needs some end product and what a player he will be!

  133. WeAreUnited says:

    @belfast

he’s doing a lot of beckham esque things, the goals and assists, and now he’s even playing i nthis game as a right winger, actually doing a very good job”

    now the second half

    CMON!

  134. RedBorneo says:

Jones played well with his position. Maybe SAF want to creating him as holding midfielder, and im glad if thats true..

  135. montanared says:

It’s been a little painful watching the squad rotation this year, but now we are totally unpredictable and it seems the players are able to work in many different positions and different formations. We looked great in the first half– difficult conditions, away against a decent team. 4-3-3, 4-1-4-1, 4-2-3-1 very flexible and our youngsters look great. 3-1 United.

  136. calebkzh says:

For all the hype about Bale, aside from his free kicks and that one shot in first half, his play in the final third has been average.

  137. Dev says:

    RedBorneo

The way Jones is playing, i’d think he’ll be a lot more than a holding midfield. He’s absolute class, great on the ball, decent crosses, decent passes (not quite Carrick-esque, but you get the idea). Not only that, he’s a great tackler and header as well.

If he keeps progressing the way he’s playing, he’ll be like Michael Essien in his prime. The 15m we paid for him seems like chump change now…

  138. belfast red. says:

    Fuckme what a save!

  139. wayne says:

I’ll call people what the fuck I want said it a 100 times STR can finish me but utill then I’ll say what the fuck I want ok Emy fuckface

  140. WeAreUnited says:

    WHATTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT A SAVE

    that was for those ABUS

  141. McQueen says:

Oustanding DDG! Credit to Dempsey for not going down

  142. calebkzh says:

De Gea keeping us in it!

  143. McQueen says:

That was nearly Evra off and a pen

  144. Mr C says:

De Gea is the best keeper in the EPL right now.

  145. Red4ever says:

Great great great save from the lad this proves that give him some time and he will be the best goal keeper in the world two years to come ,,,,,way to go mate c’mon

  146. montanared says:

What a save from DDG!! incredible reflex save.

  147. Evans_KickingSkills says:

I wish the Spurs players would get booked for diving in the penalty area all the time. Cheating bastards!

  148. WeAreUnited says:

    “wayne says:

I’ll call people what the fuck I want said it a 100 times STR can finish me but utill then I’ll say what the fuck I want ok Emy fuckface”

This proves you’re only a bully mate. now everyone knows what you are and your opinions are like a glass without no water. empty words.

    peace.

  149. McQueen says:

ha, may have to stick carrick left back for the remainder. he’s the only one who can stop lennon atm!

  150. Dev says:

Guys, come on. Why the hate? Save it for Shitty or the Scousers.

Looks like Rooney is on for Kagawa.

  151. domunited says:

Anybody else’s fsc on fios getting choppy? Anyone, DDG heroics/luck again.

    PS. Wazza!

  152. James7t7 says:

Has Rooney ripped his shirt again… Been a while sice he did that. Thought he was told to stop?

  153. Dev says:

    Typical terrible officiating.

  154. belfast red. says:

Wazza on with a ripped United top?? Last time he done that he scored a hattrick against fenerbace!

  155. Walata says:

    That was a penalty

  156. belfast red. says:

How many fake cheers are the spurs fans guna do! Asif they arnt getting fukal. Fucking joke.

  157. Dev says:

Assou-Ekotto to plug that massive hole Bale leaves behind when he’s marauding up front.

Rooney should make a difference. That penalty shout should fire him up.

Another top drawer save from de Gea.

    Damn this match is pulsating.

  158. wayne says:

Don’t really give a fuck of course people will judge you on what is said, you’re just a fucking idiot who feels the need to paste some poxy response to samuel on every thread fucking joke
Not on here to be popular mate and to say I’m a bully is a laugh in itself

  159. Walata says:

Welbeck so needs to get a goal

  160. belfast red. says:

This is like a fucking pantomime!

  161. WeAreUnited says:

    @wayne

first of all why the hell are you following what I do here or what I paste

secondly here you can’t have friends.

thirdly you’re a bully. because you call everyone by names without nothing

and last thing, what has my response to Samuel have to do with anything? WHAT?

    you’re delusional my friend.

  162. Red4ever says:

What the fuck is david pleat talking about dont even know who the fuck noisy neibours are ,,,,,shittty

  163. Dev says:

Hmm, not sure if Cleverley should go off for Valencia. Everything seems to be working at the moment.

I guess that’s why Sir Alex gets paid the big bucks. It can be hard to improve on a gameplan when everything is going well, it may upset the balance and make things worse or it may improve things.

  164. andromeda says:

Jones is officially playing Fletcher’s role!

  165. rijah says:

why the heck can’t we score the second goal in these situations and try to win the match instead of guarding a single goal all the time…!! When are we going to learn..!!

  166. Dev says:

    rijah

You’d think it’s so damn easy against such a tactically accomplished manager and tactically adept team like Tottenham do you…

  167. McQueen says:

    Rio you beauty

  168. andromeda says:

    Ferdinand a beast!!

  169. rijah says:

    Dev

I know it’s not easy, but this is Manchester united and if we can’t do it, then who can..!!

  170. wayne says:

You obviously think the response to samuel was profound otherwise you wouldn’t keep pasting it on every thread goes to the menaility of how great you think you are tosser
A bully is a coward mate been in 100′s of fights and never backed down to one even if I knew I’d get my head kicked in

  171. andromeda says:

Rooney inclusion is obviously for defensive role and for creating the sparkling counter attacks.

  172. Walata says:

I have to say Jones is doing some fantastic work in the midfield today

  173. belfast red. says:

    Jones has been fucking awesome!

  174. andromeda says:

Tottenham making it hard for us, and we are giving the ball away easily.hang on lads!!

  175. Red Devil Canuck says:

    shitballs

  176. andromeda says:

    No!!

  177. Dev says:

    Typical United.

Only making it hard for themselves.

  178. James7t7 says:

    Well done de gea!!

  179. rijah says:

we blew it up again… screwed up today sleep…. :(

  180. Walata says:

Disappointed to lose a goal in extra time….we paid the price for not creating enough chances during the game & we could have easily conceded more if DDG wasn’t such an awesome goalie

  181. zigoo says:

fuckin hell…everyone saw that coming…we were so negative

    we couldnt keep the ball!

ad why DOES EVRA ALWAYS MAKE LENNON LOOK LIKE RONALDO

  182. Joffrey Baratheon says:

That would have been a massive win for us. A draw was about fair probably on the balance of play. United should have made a lot more of their counter attacks but some of the passing in the final third was so sloppy at times.

  183. Mahesh says:

Ah bugger…tough night out, and bitterly disappointed…but a point from this fixture in this weather is okay…

  184. berbatunday says:

Great game……disappointed with the late equalizer though….tot everyone played well, except maybe the subs

  185. Walata says:

Only 2 shots on target today….just not good enough imo

  186. AlphaRS says:

Same thing happened against Chelsea in the Capital One Cup. Not keeping possession and closing the game out but giving it away cheaply. Sometimes you’ve got to ask what’s going through their minds in these situations.

  187. Dan-young says:

    Here comes the scapegoat bandwagon

  188. ohiored says:

    fair result

  189. dannysoya LOVES USAIN BOLT says:

Well done to the whole team. We fought our hardest. We gave it our best. Nobody at fault for that goal. It was punt into the box, the ball bounced their way and he struck it home. The defense and David De Gea especially were fucking MAJESTIC the entire game. Phil Jones and Michael Carrick as well were brilliant the whole game. In football you need a bit of luck and unfortunately it did not roll our way today. ONWARDS AND UPWARDS.

  190. Mick says:

Well when we only have 2 shots on target . Still 5 points clear.

  191. brett1985 says:

Another week, another bottled penalty decision. When you look at how rival teams around us like Chelsea seem to get a helping hand on a constant basis like their first goal today. Just what was the linesman playing at when Rooney was fouled. To me its pure cheating as the decision was right in front of him.

  192. Walata says:

This was a game we needed some creativity in the middle…maybe Nani or Giggs could have made an impact

  193. belfast red. says:

Lets see the doommongers now. Tbh il take that. Great team spirt every1 working hard and getting bodies in the way.

  194. WeAreUnited says:

    @wayne

you have made my day. I always have those kidna discussion with samuel and Iwanted him to reespond to me. because obviously he didn’t, it bothers me why you keep keeping track of that. or why you follow what I have done? does it bother you I was right.

a bully is one who always picks people without no reason. And you’re a bully. “A bully is someone who is habitually mean to others, inflicting both physical and psychological abuse on his or her victims”

and in the Internet you are a bully. Nothing more. a grown up man, calling others by name with no reason and keeping track about what others say, wh ydoes it bother you.

  195. McQueen says:

Ah fuck. They were always knocking on the door, thought we were guna battle to a great 3 points but not to be.

James7t7 – you can fuck off with that sarcasm mate, he was one of our best performers today

  196. Marq says:

    Gutted

Maybe I’m picking bones, but Rooney was just strolling about when he is on. Valencia too, just stood and watched them put in the crosd for the equalizer

Oh well, fair result you could say. Next game please

  197. Costas says:

Don’t why we showed them so much respect as timne went on. They were bound to equalize at some point as things were going.

No penalty on Rooney of course. Because as always, UNited get all the decisions.

  198. WeAreUnited says:

we did good, we fought and tried to keep it 1-0

we had great chances to get it 2-0, but that’s football.

It feels bad when you concede at the last minute, but we fought.

The only minus in oru play I say is, we didn’t try to keep the ball and we were too defensive, other than that, a good game, if it would have stayed 1-0.

    DDG MOTM for me.

  199. DEVILisRED says:

Gutted to lose a goal so late. Well….probably a fair result though overall. Could not contain lennon the whole game, not much help lended to evra on the left side i tot.

  200. Rd5454 says:

Fxxk up i don’t know what’s happen with wazza and tony vida is back and I’m sure the best position of Danny is a central midfielder just like yaya toure fast powerful tall can attack and defense

  201. Dev says:

    Marq

I agree. By far the most disappointing player should’ve been Rooney. You’d expect him to fizzle to life after that penalty call.

  202. andromeda says:

We should also give credit to Tottenham, they were brilliant all the night specially in the second half, but seriously then we were too timid and should have more courage.

Valencia substitution in my opinion was a little mistake, and since Rooney was for most of the time in the midfield why shouldn’t Fergie depend on Anderson instead?

    Lessons to be taught….

  203. The redderdevil says:

if only welbeck coyld convert one of the numerous chances he wastes. He works so hard ti get in good positions only to fluff the final touch. Frustrating!!

  204. Gaffer says:

When you sub both Cleverly and Kagawa there is no way Jones and Wellbeck, alongside Carrick could boss the midfield. Rooney a shadow of himself too.

  205. AntiScouser says:

A bad way to lose two points, City will be beaming. A few players have a lot to answer considering their behaviour during the last minutes, but I would also be very interested to read an assessment of Kagawa’s career at United so far and projections for the future.

  206. fergie is the boss says:

I thought we were robbed today, that pen that was not given has cost united 3 valuable points

  207. Dela says:

I knew it would finish a draw when there was no peno given for the foul on Rooney. I also know that the media will either completely ignore that now of they’ll only treat it as a minor footnote. Yet had we won it by a penalty call it would be the headlines.

The only thing I can remember from that game was all the booing from spurs fans, who somehow seemed to believe that the officials were against them. All I could hear all game was that fucking sarcastic booing and “You don’t know what you’re doing!”. Fucking tiny, shitty, small club mentality.

  208. WeAreUnited says:

    @marq

for me Valencia offered nothing. again he did nothing. The lad has lost it, unfortunately. Roone ywas good.

You’d still expect more effort and pace from the subs, but we never got it. Anderson would have been ideal.

We gave too much credit to them from the beginning. Putting too much of an effort to stop Bale, and forgot the rest of them.

Great fight but only a good result since it ended 1-1. Tottenham deserved their 1 point. Hats off.

  209. Costas says:

    @FITB

Maybe, but with our penalty record this season, that’s hardly a given…

  210. Hans says:

    How stupid was this!

We paid for not going for the kill and getting the second. 1:0 is always a dangerous scoreline to see out.

Yet again we failed to take advantage of several promising situations, because our final ball was poor.

It was frustrating how at times we were so sloppy, stood still rather than making runs and providing options for passing.

Anyway, still 5 points clear, and Shitty will surly drop more points!

  211. Dela says:

@AntiScouser –> based on what? The handful of games Kagawa has played?

  212. montanared says:

Devastating result, outstanding performance. Hard to complain about the first 92 minutes. I’m sure the equalizer will be scrutinized and someone will be scapegoated, but that minute letdown, even though it has cost us 2 points, shouldn’t take too much away from what was one of our best team performances of the season. Vidic, Ferdinand, Jones, Clevs, Welbz,DDG, Rafael, all great performances. Had to get some positivity in before the inevitable scapegoating and criticizing gets going on here.

  213. Dela says:

@Costas – RvP would have smashed a peno in against them. We were robbed. Some of our play was sloppy, but it doesn’t change the fact that we should have had a stone wall spot kick but neither the ref or the linesman were willing to go against the childish Spurs fans who were pressuring them all game. All the bullshit about us getting decisions, when this stuff is always swept under the rug.

  214. fergie is the boss says:

Costas – the officials are costing us big time, and this was a huge back breaker

  215. Marq says:

I wasn’t expecting Rooney to score or anything, but the least he can do was to hasdle for the ball, but Rvp chased around more than him. Valencia too, I was half expecting to just run the ball to the corner a few times, not even needing to neat his man, but he stood off and stopped everytime

  216. Dev says:

I think a lot of you guys need to give Tottenham credit. Villas-Boas is by no means a simple manager. He is after all Mourinho’s protege.

The Tottenham we used to know was a team we could go to and play our own game plan without worrying too much about how to stop them. That has changed.

United has successfully managed to stop Tottenham for playing their game for about 50 minutes, before we let them switch tactics by playing more direct. We didn’t really deal with that. Also, While Jones played on the right to stop Bale, perhaps he could’ve been told to play on the left instead for the second half to stop what would inevitably be the weakest side of United’s defence.

  217. mara says:

This is what happend when you play against your DNA and start to defend. I will get heart attack from this club…i m not mad when we lost against someone better, but when you lose coz you are defending and get stupid goals…then i m mad…

  218. Walata says:

    @ Antoscouser

Any analysis of Kagawa will have to take into account his injury as well as 1st season acclimatization. On the one hand he has all these wonderful touches that emphasize his technical skills. On the other, he seems to be easily muscled off the ball & seems to prefer one-touch passing without attempting long-range passing/shooting. To be honest I expected more but I guess I had some unrealistic expectations.

As to the future, if you watched him for Dortmund he was awesome. If he can replicate that form while building a better understanding with his team mates as well as adding more diversity to his style of play he will come good.

  219. WeAreUnited says:

    @montanared

“our best team performances of the season”

you’re serious? maybe for the fight yes, btu we fought against City and Chelski, and there we actually played some football. Maybe not our best performance mate, but a good one.

Our best is against Arsenal, City and Chelsea and maybe Liverpool at OT. This game is one to forget, the spirit was there, but nothing to cheers abotu mate.

    IThis is my opinion.

  220. fergie is the boss says:

RVP would have taken the pen, and fully confident we go 2 0 up, and we win the match, its a really concerning time, and ever since the chelsea win, we are getting royally screwed over

  221. AntiScouser says:

    @Dela

He’s been at the club since July. Yes, he’s only played 9 or 10 games, but his contribution can and should still be analyzed. Please aim your unprovoked rage at somebody else.

  222. WeAreUnited says:

    @fitb

I agree, again we were robbed.

@mara I totally agree with you, we only defended, 2 attempts tells it all. but 1 point is one points and give credit to Tottenham who deserved it.

I think they were a strong team tonight. Shame we didn’t get the 3 points.

  223. Comeback Kingz says:

Wow there’s a lot of negativity here tonight, I was also hoping we would take the full 3 points but in hindsight, a draw is probably a fair result. We only had 2 shots on target the whole game and De Gea kept us in it. I wont lose sleep over this one.

Still 5 points clear, and we have to remember this was against a top 4 side away. I’m sure shitty fans will be ecstatic, but we were bound to drop some points somewhere. Anyways lets stay positive, some encouraging signs from Jones, another first half masterclass from Carrick, and DDG MOM for me!

  224. Mick says:

Is anyone else concerned at our lack of shots on target over the last few games? I rate Danny and Jesus the lad has put in maximum effort over the last few games BUT…… For all the lads hard work and effort he seems to still be a little short of what’s needed or is that a bit harsh?

  225. Marq says:

Considering the cheap penalty Chelsea got, ours looked stonewall. But its ok, like I said before, we get screwed more than we benefit, so I’m not surprised.

  226. Dan-young says:

Some of you seem to think we have a god given right to win every game and if we lose he should inflict destruction onto whoever has the audacity to take a point off of us. We ended the first 19 fixtures this season 7 pojnts clear.. In the reverse fixtures we have just improved on the previous fixtures by 1 point due to our loss against tottenham. Not to mention a fully fit squad (almost) and toure at the afcon.

Also stop saying about welbeck being the new toure.seriously, its just stupid. Yeah he can defend and attack but if you think they are the only attributes a player like toure has then you are mental! Welbz has had 10+ years of development to make him a brilliant striker, so you think we should scrap that decade and throw him in midfield?!

  227. TraffordLord says:

Considering our history against Spurs, Fergie should not be happy giving AVB the 4 points out of 6. However, it was a spirited display by the lads and I felt the defence stood strong including DDG. Sensationalist media is already zeroing on DDG for not clearing the ball for Spurs goal…which is nonsense. Lucky bounce of the ball for spurs- it happens. Not to point any fingers, I actually think it was Valencia’s hesistation (see Rafael’s reaction in disgust) that allowed that ball into the area…but that’s neither here nor there. I was very uncomfortable seeing No 7 come on for Cleverley, I didn’t think it was needed and Valencia rarely does anything on that wing these days as attacks stutter out once he gets the ball…just a bit of bad form, nothing unusual.

All in all great performance in a harsh environment…unlucky at the end. Lots of promise shown, common u REDs!!!

  228. CoppelRED says:

Why do we give the fucking ball away so cheaply …

  229. Costas says:

The defending was probably the best I’ve seen from us all season. But backtracking as much as we did was a huge risk. It ruined all the hard work that the likes of Jones, Carrick, Rafa, Vidic and Rio put in. A single goal lead is never enough when your team is capable of a defensive error even at the 92nd minute.

    @Dela

Chances are he would have scored, but who’s to say RVP would have taken it? We still don’t know who’s the automatic choice when both he and Rooney are out there. I am not denying we were robbed of a stone wall penalty. Just saying that it’s anyone’s guess whether we would have scored it or not.

  230. andromeda says:

Despite few tactical errors in the last 20 minutes of the game, we were fantastic today, Jones has been proving himself best as the new Fletcher”well at least for today”.

At the same time, let us be honest Tottenham had their moments too, they have really clever players that can keep possession, and they just couldn’t stop kicking the ball all over the pitch, Lennon has killed Evra and Carrick altogether, overall they deserve that equalizer.but clearly then, we lost 2 precious points tdoay.

  231. Dela says:

@~AntiScouser –> Unprovoked rage? Please stop assigning a tone of voice to text, I was curious about what you meant given that we’ve barely seen what Kagawa has to offer us. Don’t be jumping the gun now.

  232. AlwaysWin says:

No one mentioned Rafael ? Time and time again I’ve seen his made mistakes and only knows to run forward to attack and forget about his defensive duties. He should put his eyes on the ball instead of running forward in the dying seconds !

  233. lawman10 says:

would of taken a draw before the started, but it hurts to lose a goal in the final minute.
let shity believe there back in it………..this United team will not fall away.

  234. montanared says:

    @weareunited
might of overdone it a bit, I was pretty emotional after the game ended. So proud of the lads the way they played up until that last minute. Total commitment from everyone, except maybe for the subs. Have loved watching all the 3-2′s this year, and I know defending is against our DNA and all that but as the season rolls on we are going to need a few performances like this one. Really disappointed for the team that such a gutsy performance wasn’t rewarded.

  235. Diego says:

Give tottenham as much credit as you like, but that was a poor back four that they had and we could only get two shots on target. We defended quite well, specially Rio and Vidic, but too many players switched off in the build up to their goal. Our final ball was poor throughout the game. There were gaping holes behind their back four which we should have been able to exploit better. I don’t like Dempsey at all.

  236. belfast red. says:

Chris foy and his crooked fucking lines men! Total disgrace that cunt has it in for us! Unreal.

  237. Dela says:

@Costas –> True, but I really believe the only reason Rooney got to take the last peno is RvP wasn’t even on the pitch, therefore it was between him and Giggs and Giggsy probably let him decide. Of course it could have went either way, but its so disappointing because it was a golden opportunity to wrap it up and it was snatched away from us either by incompetence or a lack of guts to give a spot kick to the visitors when the crowd were so hostile toward the officials all game.

  238. Walata says:

    @ Dan-young

I totally get that Welbeck is a prospect & we will do good by developing him . But we have , in my humble opinion, better strikers (Chicharito/Rooney) and I would prefer we started our strongest team at all possible times & give promising talents minutes in the 2nd half to add something different to the game.

  239. parthi says:

No doubt.. one of the best performances of the season! Gud nite guys

  240. Unitedyankee says:

Agree w Costas- thought the defense played great. Almost posted a comment but didn’t want to jinx it until game was over. Still don’t understand how you can come on as a sub and not run your ass off to close down the ball. Antonio standing around outside our box ball watching- not sure what to say to that. I hate watching football or American football where a team tries to just hold on to win. YOu’re just asking for trouble.

  241. zigoo says:

to be fair to spurs, they deserved a draw, they completely dominated the game

i was disappointed how we showed them far to much respect and how negatively we set up in the 2nd half n how negative we played..

wouldnt of mind to have seen chicha on and ando…

considering the conditions, its a good point, and now we dont have tough games till the man city match,,,

maybe everton home, but that is a must win.

evra should learn that lennon is not ronaldo…

  242. Singh7 says:

Still plenty to play for .Playing Spurs away is no mean feat ,I know it was wrenching but relax we’re 5 points in front and Shitty will also drop points ….it’s just one of those things .

  243. WeAreUnited says:

    @montanared

yeha no proble, who am I to say are you right or wrong haha but you overdone it a little :P

anyways, Total commitment from everyone, except maybe for the subs. I completely agree with this one, but hats off to Tottenham who overplayed us today.

sometimes with these kinda games it’ either 3 or 1 point. next time it’s 3.

  244. redrex says:

@TraffordLord valencia is shit this season. whenever he gets the ball, he passes back or loses possession. when he decides to cross the ball, 90% of times its either poor or hits the defenders leg.
he doesn’t deserve to be no 7. i wanted chica to come on for danny, and cleverly should have remained.

  245. Dev says:

To be honest, if Hernandez was on the pitch I would think Tottenham would’ve scored more.

  246. belfast red. says:

Avb. “Champions have to go thro things like this”. At least he knows what we are.

  247. AlwaysWin says:

We should have taken 3 points against Spurs this season instead of only 1 point !

  248. Dan-young says:

Welbz being on the pitch took kyle walker out the game completely. Take welbeck out that ,ine up and its a completely different game, in tottenhams favour

  249. Dela says:

@Dev –> Not sure if they’d have scored more but I do think Welbeck works harder than Hernandez a lot of the time ye, but had Hernandez been on he’d have been a high through-ball threat all the time, and that forces a team back. When you let them push forward all the time, you’re going to concede eventually. I think maybe he should have been given a chance but then we’d have been taking Welbeck’s work rate off the pitch and might have had even less possession.

  250. redrex says:

@Dev but we didnt need valencia.. i’ve hated him this season through and through. he has lost it completely. even in this match, at one point he got the ball, he had space to run forward but waited there standing and passing it back. this is shit play. somebody needs to tell him. sometimes it seems he just closes his and hit the ball hard when he wants to cross. he never cuts inside as he used to last season.

  251. United Till I Die says:

I agree with Fergie when he said the final ball let us down. There were times when Welbeck needed a better pass to be clear-through on goal but he didn’t get it. To be fair, Kagawa and Tony were the ones with the best chances to find him in space but they aren’t in top form. Danny had a good match, he was involved in the build up to our goal and even in place to score if RVP wasn’t there. Just a shame we didn’t find him enough.

Its not often we drop points without it being the end of the world, but Rio and Vidic were pure class today, especially Rio. We can take positives from this, it may not be ideal, but 5 points clear with Spurs / LFC out the way, and City and Chelsea yet to come to OT, we’re still in a brilliant position to retain our title. The lads will be gutted, especially with the lack of support for RVP and Danny, but we defended well for 90mins in the snow. 1 minute away from all 3 points. Gutted, but it could be worse.

Needless to add we deserved a penalty, and RVP would’ve taken it im sure. The manager shouldn’t get in trouble for his comments. Surely you are allowed to suggest that an official had a bad match? Hopefully the ref and linesmen in our next game put their glasses on and pull a finger out.

  252. montanared says:

    @weareunited
cheers, I was caught in the moment, away wins at renties, bitters, and dippers far better results and performances, but still think more positives from negatives from this one and I think Fergie will feel the same,
    @Mick
Rafael and valencia have been so solid defensively, but there was a definate mis-communication there at the end allowing the cross to come in. but whether it was Valencia’s hesitation or Rafeal taking off prematurely on the break I’m not sure.If those two would have been onthe same page, either both defending, or both looking to break, the three points would be ours.

  253. Mick says:

Well said Belfast. Red. Take heart fellow Reds and remember the best ever last minute goal. OLE! We’re still 5 clear…..

  254. Dev says:

    To sum up my thoughts,

I think great game over all. Tottenham stopped us from playing our game as much as we stopped them from playing theirs. When that happens, it goes down to how badly your men want it and how good / bad your star players perform. Rooney didn’t do a whole lot post penalty shout, Bale wasn’t at his best. van Persie scored, but i’d have gotten him to lurk in the box instead of taking penalties when Rooney isn’t in the pitch, but that’s just me.

de Gea had a cracking game. Many would say he doesn’t command is area effectively, that needless punch when no one was challenging him for the header was probably the clearest example. I think that ability will come with time and understanding of the English game better, as in Spain you don’t really see the ball being played over the heads too often.

The defence was great and Phil Jones in particular was immense. He chose the right times to bomb forward without leaving his rear area too riskily unprotected, everyone played a part. Ferdiand’s last ditch tackle was brilliant, and unlike the Ben Arfa challenge, at least the linesman didn’t try to play hero this time. The two yellows were unfortunate, but I guess that’s life.

The midfield did okay. I’d think Sir Alex won’t have too much to complain there, despite not controlling the game. They played the way they were told, quick counterattacks while Tottenham pressed high up. As for the attack, I think the only complaint would be there was only one goal despite the good number of half-chances that could’ve easily been converted.

I think Sir Alex did rather well. He probably (i’m hoping) understands how frail United are in the middle of the park. Tottenham can probably (and rightly) claim to have the best midfield in the EPL at the moment. When United has to play Phil Jones to negate that, I think that’s a compliment for Tottenham. Like I said above, this is no longer the Harry Redknapp (him managing QPR now says it all, really) or Martin Jol Tottenham where we could rock up and play to our best abilities and expect to come away with a result

Credit to both teams, I think this was a fair result, as gutted as I am to say.

PS. I believe that this will be the primary tactic we will play against Madrid away from home.

  255. Dela says:

@Singh7 –> Ye, it’s not the worst result, and the fact is the amount of dodgy away fixtures for us is shrinking fast. At the same time, when you are fighting for the league it comes down to a point or two that can make all the difference, so it can hurt when you drop points and you shouldn’t have. Take 2010 as the example, we all remember that Drogba winner at Old Trafford with only a few games left, and we lost the league by only ONE fucking stupid little annoying point… just fucking ONE, and had drogba been flagged offside, it would have been a draw and we would have won the league…. and hell… Chelsea got so much in their favor that season that I can also remember the dubious goal scored by Terry at Stamford Bridge and when Owen Coyle said Drogba was a “world class vollyball player” after Bolton were denied two penalties for clear handballs in one of the last games of the season, when Chelsea beat them 1-0.

Basically, I’m annoyed about the result because both the linesman AND the ref had a clear view of the foul on Rooney. It wasn’t an iffy, wasn’t a 50/50 or even a 70/30, it was a 100/00, from both the angles, his legs were clearly taken from under him, and just like Drogba’s EPIC offside at OT, it was ignored and we paid the price for incompetence, or a lack of balls to give the visitors a peno after the home crowd had been so hostile all game toward the officials for NOTHING.. what major decision went against Spurs? What warranted all the boo’s and sarcastic cheers? NOTHING. But I digress…

There is simply no excuse at all not to give that peno. None, it was a terrible moment for match officials.

  256. United Till I Die says:

Oh yeah Welbeck was easily MOTM for me (again). He’s getting better and better. You lot can’t blame him for the poor passes he received in the final third. Rooney, Kag, Tony V were all guilty of it at one point or another today. Other than that, Danny was class today and posed our biggest threat, just a shame we didn’t create more for him.

  257. RedBorneo says:

    @ Dev
Hi mate.. yeah, he is a player i was looking for to complete our midfield. Believe, some day he will be our truly Keano..

And again Tony V lost his form, fail to make an impact.
    Come on United..!

  258. ronnie says:

to be fair spurs deserved the point we move on southampton home next lets get the three points thats all that matters.the real positive is that the defence looks a lot better ok we could do with some clean sheets but vidic is back at thats massive.only arsenal away is the next potential banana skin so five points clear at this stage of the season has gotta be acceptable.now i know how oppostion fans feel when conceding a last minute goal………..

  259. TraffordLord says:

    I’m just musing now…

You do get the feeling that Rooney has been er er erm…let’s say been pacing himself since RVP came on board. Some might see it as well deserved rest, the 29 yr old does make him look a bit lazy by coming in deep, taking corners, free kicks, and most impressive his defensive headers rival vida’s.

I can’t help to think that if Giggsy was on the pitch today in the final minutes, that ball would have stayed at the corner flag…that just comes with experience and knowing how to kill the game off to get on the bus with all the points.

This isn’t really serious, just idle thoughts but let me know what you think.

  260. United Till I Die says:

    *regain our Title.

  261. Costas says:

Just nitpicking I guess, but if Tom and Kagawa are going to come off, why not bring on Anderson? Carrick and Jones were immense but they were also starting to tire and get overrun.

  262. WeAreUnited says:

Avb. “Champions have to go thro things like this”. At least he knows what we are.

    @belfast

    ahahah

yeah we gotta give credit to AVB for saying that for us. Thank you AVB.

PS. I don’t get one thing, how people think Hernandez just stands there, the lad always tries to wi nthe ball back and puts pressure. So to say that we would have conceded is absurd.

Anyway I wouldn’t put Rooney on but Chicha, and RVP drop a bit deep, so they would have stayed on their toes with oru counter-attacks, also I would have taken Jones out and put Ando on to keep the ball, instead of Cleverley off and Valencia on.

Cleverley should have stayed on the right and Ando to the middle.

But these are only IFS, it’s not that we lost :) 5points clear baby!

  263. wayne says:

You’re just a idiot you made a judgement on Jones before a ball had been kicked and by me defending the slection and questioning your knowledge makes me a bully,ok mate I just pointed out you’re a fucking idiot. Why don’t you post the response to samuel again for the 5th time I’m sure everyone is waiting to read it again

  264. WeAreUnited says:

    @UTID

I think now Welbeck is growing and playign like a champ

one point when he went past one player with a little chip I said to myself wow thierry henry!

he was immense, if it wasn’t for RVP maybe he would have scored one!

  265. fergie is the boss says:

Oh I forgot to add, the appalling decision when welbeck was away, the defender falls over the ball, and spurs get a free kick, when we can see from normal viewings it was not a free kick. Strange they catch that, but not the penalty rooney should have got

  266. Dev says:

    Costas

Great point. I think Sir Alex wasn’t really looking for like-for-like substitutions though. He was probably looking to add an extra dimension to United’s attacking play to get that decisive second goal. I believe Valencia came on to exploit that space Bale kept leaving behind, Assou-Ekotto was put on to stem the tide from the right flank.

Then again, i’m not so sure what Valencia would’ve added to the attack since he was essentially replacing Cleverley anyway.

  267. WeAreUnited says:

    @wayne

I made a commetn and that makes me a bully??? cmon dude, and you should be a mature person?
I said to you that Joens is playing well, I admitted it, you started calling me names, you’re the bully.

    January 20, 2013 at 16:17
    WeAreUnited says:

“so it’s 4-33 not bad, but Jones is the only mystery for me
this I think should mean carrick plays more advanced`?”

Jones was the only one who surprised me on the selection. is that a crime? If I say it’s a SURPRISE, does that make me hate the player???

DOES THIS MAKE ME A BULLY??? I even said, that could mean for Carrick to play more advanced. Tell me where do I judge Jones?????
Tell me. I only said it’s a mystery, cause I really didn’t expect that, like many people over here. Everyone shared the same opinion without bashign him, and you started pointing fingers and saying that why we don’t see hsi talent.

what the hell? nobody talked about his talent. There’s the proof. what do you want more bully?

  268. WeAreUnited says:

    “wayne says:

Is Jones even 20,first year at the club as a teenager Sir Alex played him at fullback, centrre half and midfield, some of you daft cunts have no idea how good he is”

    this is how you response

hAHAHHA, tell me that is not a bully. when it walks like a duck, kvaks like a duck, it probably is a duck.

  269. Dela says:

BTW, just want to say I have no issue at all with Fergie’s subs. Putting on Rooney and Tony V showed a determination to attack. They are attacking players, and I have to give him credit for that. He saw our best way to defend was to push for a second goal and put it beyond them, you can’t fault him for that.

  270. fergie is the boss says:

I call welbeck spiderman today, the ball was like it was glued to his feet

  271. Costas says:

    @Dev

I agree that we were trying to cancel out their own subs more or less (something that we also did with out initial line up basically). I understand the logic. It’s just that we also had another issue, losing the midfield battle as time went on. But that’s all in hindsight. 40 more seconds of sustaining their pressure and it wouldn’t have mattered.

  272. Marq says:

Chill guys. I think the only constant here is everyone thinks its a fair result, so that is all to it.

Next up, a little replay to settle. Hernandez & Rooney will probably start that. Hopefully Nani & Anderson get some minutes. The CL is starting again soon, we need everyone back fit & fighting

  273. United Till I Die says:

    @Costas

I was thinking the same thing about Anderson, especially when we had a blatant problem with finding our front men today. Not to second guess the manager, but if anybody was gonna be subbed on, surely he was a candidate. He’s already changed a few games from the bench this season, and considering he was fit enough to be a sub, maybe he could’ve sat deep while Rooney pushed forward. We obviously needed better support for upfront, and its not like Ando can’t find the final third while defending in our third. I was disappointed he wasn’t subbed on, the latter stages of the game had his name written all over it.

I guess Valencia was brought on for the same purpose (defend while finding our strikers on the break) but imo we already had that flank pretty much covered for the whole game. But who can say what the manager expected? For all we know it was a coin toss between Tony and Ando.

Maybe a better question is should Rooney have stayed on the bench for this game? If Fergie felt Tony was desperately needed on the right, I’d rather see Anderson in the middle instead of Rooney, as the Brazilian rarely falls asleep when he should be defending. Even his biggest critics admit that he defends like a pro. Not to slag off the Scouser, but in the minute before the goal Rooney was slow to close down the spurs players around him (and our box) and collect the ball. Tbf he looked like he was waiting for us to break, instead of anticipating us getting counter attacked. Eitherway, he didn’t close them down, and once Spurs got possession they kept it until they scored. With seconds left on the clock I guess thats the difference between a proper midfielder and a Striker moonlighting as one. With Cleverley and Kagawa off, who better than Ando?

  274. wayne says:

Something wrong with you mate you prejudged a player and was proven wrong you’re either very young or lacking iq,samuel hasn’t responded because he dosent rate you

  275. United Till I Die says:

You literally can’t win them all. I’ll take one point away at Spurs over dropping all three any day. When we create so few chances with the likes of RVP and Welbeck finding space for 90mins, we can’t expect to win. Simple as that. We’ve got positives to take from the game, but finding the final pass wasn’t one of them. Hopefully we’re fully focused for Fulham. I expect we’ll see Rooney, Nani and Ando for that.

    Still 5 points clear lads!

  276. Dela says:

BTW, am I mis-remembering or do we alwyas seem to perform sub-par in snow? lol

  277. United Till I Die says:

Dela – not only that, in the snow in London.

  278. WeAreUnited says:

    @wayne

this is all that I said

    January 20, 2013 at 16:17
    WeAreUnited says:

“so it’s 4-33 not bad, but Jones is the only mystery for me
this I think should mean carrick plays more advanced`?”

    how is that prejudgement??? hahah

    “wayne says:

Is Jones even 20,first year at the club as a teenager Sir Alex played him at fullback, centrre half and midfield, some of you daft cunts have no idea how good he is”

that is how you response, A DUCK.

  279. Diego says:

    FITB:
That was the retarded dog Scott Parker who, by being english, never dives. Although today he did it, at least twice.

  280. WeAreUnited says:

as for samuel, well whatever his reasons are, I made my point. He didn’t respond, end of story.

About him rating me, well I think nobody rates nobody here. It’s the Internet mate!

and you’re a big Internet bully / troll. again you say somethign baout my IQ, which has no place in this argument hahah

You are not respondign to my comments, but just putting the same argument, you’re no better than SHINJITHENINJA. At least that troll gave proper arguments hahah.

kvak kvak kvak, when it talks like a bully, walks like a bully acts like a bulyl , it probably is a bully. you’re gae has caught you, I better leave you alone.

  281. WeAreUnited says:

    age*

  282. Dela says:

Interesting… so the linesman today who failed to see the Rooney foul as a penalty is the same lad who didn’t flag Drogba offside at OT in the 2009/2010 season? Interesting.

  283. mara says:

And if i remember, and i remember well, it is our patent to scoreing goals in the last minute, we have copyright on that, not Spurs. :-) so when we lose 2 points like today, i hate it.why we even gave them a chance that they outplay us? We are better and need to show them who is the boss of this league. 5 points ahead of Citeh seems a lor but it is not. I m just little bit scared that we dont start to lose Championships in last seconds, because that is not in our blood.

  284. WeAreUnited says:

    for Dela’s comment

    SAF:

“We remember him well from his time at the Chelsea game when Didier Drogba was three yards offside and he gave onside. I think he had a shocking game today, and I’m disappointed in his performance, I really am. I think he has had a bad game and we never got anything from that side of the pitch. We got a bad break.

  285. fergie is the boss says:

Diego – do not get me started on that, lennon died also, but the fact the penalty decision and the welbek foul in the first half were 2 crucial decisions, really did fuck us over. Yes PPL say it is a good point, but the fact the way the game panned out, it really was a bad day for united, it felt like a kick in the teeth for all the hard work, which was undone by officials, and our inability to take our chances on the break, and even holding onto the ball

  286. UnitedFaithful says:

Thought jones was used to break up their attacks when we have a cb pairing that isn’t the fastest.Carrick needed someone who can press high up the field.Without clevs and kagawa we didn’t have someone to do that job.wonder we lost control of our midfield.

  287. wayne says:

Mate all anyone has to do is retrace this thread,I never even mentioned your name just pointed out Jones is a talent and you choose to attack me and accuse me of being a bully
You need to check the thread you stupid cunt, the only one making a mountain out of a molehill is you.Pretty obvious you’re a attention seeker by constantly posting comments from 3 weeks ago

  288. Alex says:

Just as I thought, De Gea isn’t in the top players for the match on the official website. Can’t believe he gets blaimed again.

  289. andromeda says:

It would be a completely different story if Anderson were on the substitution list, you can imagine having Anderson, Carrick, Jones for the last 20-25 minutes of the game, the balance is right there even if Rooney has stayed on the bench.Valencia unfortunately couldn’t enter the atmosphere of the game.it sounds as if he is too much distracted at this moment!!its mysterious, anyway as I said this game should provide some great lessons both to Fergie and to our players, we can’t rest at this moment.the season is just starting.

  290. UnitedFaithful says:

Rooney and Valencia were brought on to provide a different dimension to our counter attacks.Although the former didn’t do a lot besides the penalty shout.Valencia looked shaky again. He always complicates things when playing it simple is his best attribute.

Kagawa was excellent. His little flick for the lead up to the first goal was pure class.

  291. WeAreUnited says:

@wayne: “Mate all anyone has to do is retrace this thread”

    Okey, Let’s do that:

firstly I said this: “so it’s 4-33 not bad, but Jones is the only mystery for me
this I think should mean carrick plays more advanced`?”

    Then you said this:

    “January 20, 2013 at 16:34
wayne says: Why the fuck is Jones a surprise he’s as talented as fuck”

Then I responded to you like this, in a good manner, just saying, don’t be so sensitive, which I bet caused this issue.

    “January 20, 2013 at 16:38
WeAreUnited says “The surprise isn’ t that the lad is not talented, why so sensitive, it’s because like I said, in a 433 you’d expect a midfielder there,”

Then you called us names, and that showed you were sensitive about it. When It walks like a duck, talks like a duck and acts like a duck, it’s probably a duck.

    January 20, 2013 at 16:41
wayne says: “Is Jones even 20,first year at the club as a teenager Sir Alex played him at fullback, centrre half and midfield, some of you daft cunts have no idea how good he is”

there you go, you called us cunts.

BTW. at least when I said this, TheCantona responded like a man, without being sensitive, he gave good arguments and that’s it, you started calling me names and trying to explain my comments with samuel, which I found strange.

    kvak kvak.

  292. WeAreUnited says:

    END OF STORY

so go and trace the post.

go on. you are the one calling names, and that is what bullies do mate!

  293. fergie is the boss says:

UnitedFaithful – good point, fergie wanted to kill the game off, by bringing on rooney and valencia, rooney was brought down for a pen, so clearly it did have a positive impact, not rooney or valencia’s fault for me, we have poor officials, which started from the time the game kicked off

  294. parryheid says:

Hard working team out there today, unfortunate in the end but such is life.

  295. Andromeda says:

    @F.I.T.B
I tend to agree with you on the official errors, and I also agree with the fact that Rooney was brought in for killing off the game, but at what cost?two important dynamic midfields”I think both Cleverly and Kagawa were amazing tonight”so when you take off there two important players you should have an alternative as whether we can keep our tempo and dynamism, and that is where the mistake come, Anderson is the player who could done much more better than Rooney.when you play to defend its worthwhile to think about balance in the middle of the pitch and many times Rooney played up front, and RVP was a bit tired, so at those crucial moments we gave them too much space and motivation.
Despite all this I still feel Tottenham and let us be fair fought for that point so they deserve it.

  296. Daniel88 says:

As soon as a team puts pressure on us our nerve goes and players hide.

Why are we scared of Spurs ? … they are the biggest bottlers in world football.

  297. UnitedFaithful says:

    fergie is the boss

Although I am not sure about bringing valencia on with the form he has been in,the inclusion of rooney was to make sure that we can be clinical on counterattacks after kagawa started to tire.

I agree with you about the penalty incident.By the first look at the incident I thought rooney had made the most of it but after watching the replay it couldn’t have been any clearer. His reaction after that told it all.

  298. UnitedFaithful says:

To be fair to the ref he got it wrong when kagawa brought down dembele by pulling his shirt just outside the penalty box.

But that’s no reason to deny a stone wall penalty

  299. va7encia says:

cant wait for young to return only winger who seems to be useful on the counter and is providing assits valencia is out of form nani yet to fully return

  300. NBI Red Onion says:

Midfielld!!! Overrun again. Should have won this. Poor second half. You could see their goal coming. Valencia Rooney added little. Scholes to put foot on ball. Not a great team performance at all. Some good individual performances.

  301. Robbo2Keano says:

Thought we did really well on sunday. You could see the pressure mounting, thought our defensive performance was top there were some cracks. why is it that Evra can’t ever contain lennon?

I thought the gaffer got his tactics spot on to start the game, TOT had nothing to offer in the first half. I could see why he brought on rooney and TV7, however neither of them did the job we all thought they would. Rooney simply couldn’t find his team mates with with a pass and TV7 continues to struggle.

After seeing this game would I wouldn’t mind if SAF goes with a diamond in midfield. our wide players need to be better in attack

abnormally of the season; we lost 5 point to TOT, we normally own that lot. all in all 1 point it better than 0 and getting a point away to a top 5 team is always valuable
