  1. Fred the red kenyan says:

Solid team.hernandez and rooney to slay chelski

  2. The Count Giggs says:

Strong team, glad to see both Rooney and Hernandez in, surprised no Valencia though

  3. gerkeo says:

Come on united, night to remember, I can feel it.

  4. smartalex says:

Come on United! Bring it home, lads!

  5. gerkeo says:

Just shows decent squad depth coming back, scholes, da silvas, the berb, tony v not even starting

  6. Utd4life says:

Strong team..AV25 to come on in the 2nd half..GGMU!!!

  7. North Stand Tier 2 says:

    Bring it home lads!

Feel sorry for Valencia but you have to feel that Nani, particularly at home, is more capable of doing some damage.

Lets hope Giggsy and Carrick have the legs in the midfield tonight.

Concentrate on the game, not the protest.

  8. Ferane-Mauritius says:

Come on United! Lets make history!

  9. gerkeo says:

    The ladyboy starts for chelski

  10. parryheid says:

Tonight we go after target 2.Give them a seeing to boys.

  11. willierednut says:

Fergie mind games again. He talks up Tony V and then leaves him out lol.

  12. Mahesh says:

I always complain about us not playing 4-4-2, but today I just feel this might be overkill. I would have preferred Valencia and Nani down the wings, and Carrick, Giggs and one more (maybe Ando) in midfield, and Rooney up top alone. Definitely thought Valencia over Park would be the case today. Don’t know what thats about, maybe the coaching staff aren’t too sure about Nani down the left, or they want to be able to exploit Valencia’s pace later in the game if needed. Either way, I a ball of nerves, just want this thing off and running!

  13. Utd4life says:

Lets just go for the win lads..We are more than capable of beating this Chelsea team..No need of being clever and then shooting ourselves in the foot..

  14. brett1985 says:

Solid team but will these embarrassing fag protesters ever give it a rest?

  15. perry says:

It´s time for the red devils to unleash hell at old trafford.

  16. FletchTHEMAN says:

    Nani, Park, Giggs, Hernandez, Rooney
2 Strikers with Nani and Park to the wings. Should be good to hold up the ball in front.

Hope they don’t get much time in out half but we will see.

Exactly as expected in defense. VDS, O’Shea, Ferdinand, Vidic, Evra, with Carrick just in front
and the forwards running their butts off.

Come on United. Hope it is a strong ref. Go for it boys. Put the chaves on the back foot early. Give them a mountain to climb.

  17. Costas says:

Interesting to note that Ando isn’t even on the bench.

  18. Saad says:

The United attack should be quite spectacular. 5 of United’s front 6 were rested for the Fulham game and hence should be fresh and firing on all cylinders. 3-1 United!

  19. berbatunday says:

ok l hoped for a 451 with park supporting rooney……but still a solid team come on lads, shame l cant see the game live, l have a presentation and class :(

  20. alfREDo says:

    C’mon boys – I’m salivating now!!
Got a feeling our strong bench could be the difference tonight!!

  21. Ferane-Mauritius says:

    who on the bench?

  22. Saad says:

Scholes, Brown, Berba, Pig, Tony, Gibbo, Chris.

  23. Ferane-Mauritius says:

have anyone heard what peter smiechiel said?

  24. FletchTHEMAN says:

I am looking at the following bench
    Paul Scholes
    Wes Brown
    Dimitar Berbatov
    Tomasz Kuszczak
    Antonio Valencis
    Darron Gibson
    Chris Smalling

  25. Die Glazers fucking die says:

    Get those Glazers

  26. Ferane-Mauritius says:

    @saad
    thanks mate.

  27. alfREDo says:

Scholes, Berba & Tony V on the bench!
Would have liked to see Anderson with them, but strong options nethertheless!!

  28. FletchTHEMAN says:

    Saad! Cheers mate.

@Ferane-Mauritius, think it is mostly out of context. Proabably only said that WR10 looks distracted and that a change of scenery might not be amiss. Don’t think anyone needs to worry about this, but it seems to be getting some press. Schmickes has released a statement that he didn’t mean to say the prince should leave.

  29. utdforever says:

COME ON UNITED!!!! FUCKING LETS AV EM””””””””””!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  30. keano99 says:

I’m sorry to say lads but I have an awful feeling about this one

  31. GoatinaUnitedShirt says:

    berbatundy
lol, a presentation and class. Whats that, present the class with the bird and get down the pub and watch the match. Presentation, lol

  32. MG says:

    keano99

    I don’t – I think it will be easy – I really do

    Destiny awaits

  33. Mahesh says:

Yeah the ando case is interesting – either he’s had a fitness setback (which is possible after playing a whole game after so long), or SAF simply doesn’t feel he’s need him off the bench. Which makes sense, we will either need to be attacking all out, or defending all out later on, and in neither case is Ando the ideal sub. Still would have like to see both Valencia and Nani on – I think we would have really forced them back with these two on the wings…It just might be the case though that Evra worried SAF the other night and he just doesn’t want him exposed unless we actually need to go after goals desparately…

  34. willierednut says:

Lets say the manager isn’t yet convinced by Anderson. Not even on the bench? Maybe that means he’ll start against City at Wembley.

  35. micho says:

    feel sorry for berb

  36. vILHELM28 says:

the line-up and formation can easily be a 4-51 – thats why SAF has chose Park as the other winger, since Park can move in central and Rooney can cover a wing.

  37. GoatinaUnitedShirt says:

    @FletchTHEMAN
I think its about time Schmeichel shut his fucking mouth dont you. I realsise hes a tv pundit and a hero of ours but saying Rooney should leave and Lindegaard isnt good enough isnt for him to decide and offers only a negative distraction to United. Great keeper but starting to act like a complete Heinze.

  38. 3/without/killing/anyone* says:

Really hope we can get the first goal as soon as possible. Just to get in control of the game. And i really hope we dont fucking mess this up, please dont do the hard way lads.

  39. Ferane-Mauritius says:

    @Fletch THEMAN,
    Thanks for clarity mate.

  40. GoatinaUnitedShirt says:

@micho, yeah i feel sorry for Berbatov too but against a chelsea defence you need pace especially with Ivanovic as right back. I cant see those flat footed retards catching Hernandez.

  41. Utd4life says:

Its gonna be a tough match..But 99.99 times out of 100 you’d expect UTD not to fuck up such a situation..

  42. gaz says:

that cunt redknapp on sky cunty face cunt

  43. Utd4life says:

If we get the 1st goal then its game, set and match in my opinion..I can’t really see chelsea coming back from such a deficit..

  44. Costas says:

Don’t know guys. If Gibson is ahead of Ando in Fergie’s squad, I think that could be a sign that something’s wrong. Unless of course Ando has some sort of injury.

  45. GoatinaUnitedShirt says:

Utd4life I hope the players dont think like you. Chelsea need 2 goals whatever even if we score first a 2-1 win for them and theyre through.

  46. Ferane-Mauritius says:

30mins to go! I want a special atomsphere that will shake my tv in mauritius…

  47. Mahesh says:

And, oh, on the Schmeichel thing, yeah legend and what not but he needs to shut the hell up. What he did say in his clarification was that he does not want Rooney to leave, BUT Rooney does look like he does not want to be here. I don’t know what he knows, I don’t care what he knows, but to come up with cock and bull like this at this stage of season can be seriously destabilizing and distracting. So Schmeichel can really fuck off!You want to stay a legend, then act and talk like it, and know when it is okay to to same things and when it not! Rant over! Lets do this!

  48. Macheda is GOD says:

    Gutted that I can’t go
    COME ON UNITED

  49. Xyth says:

    We should fucking slaughter them!!!!!
    Come on United!!!

  50. FletchTHEMAN says:

Anyone else surprised to see Alex in the center for the chaves. He is slow on his good days. Think he played a couple of minutes in their Wigan game but I didn’t catch that. Anyone have a thought on this?

  51. GoatinaUnitedShirt says:

Macheda is GOD, eat asparagus that helps me unless its number twos then drink coffee and eat tandori prunes.

  52. MG says:

    Ladies and Gentlemen

    Fellow Reds

We arrive here a year on from Bayern Munich

We have suffered alone the way, been disrespected by our very own, ripped apart by every ABU hating bastard, shown up by the FA, ticked off by every non United fan that we will never make it

    We are still standing

We are behind you Manchester United, you have nothing to fear – we are all standing with you

    Come on…

  53. RJ says:

    No Berba again? :’(

  54. RJ says:

    No Berba again? :’(

  55. Costas says:

I remember how there was a stat about United winning a lot more games against Arsenal by playing 4-5-1. With Chelsea it’s the opposite. In our last 4 wins against them, we’ve lined up with 4-4-2.

  56. gaz says:

is it just me or are sky building up that they want the rentboys to win? fuck em come on united!

  57. RJ says:

Damn it double posted for some reason…..

Anyone know anything about Rafael’s injury by the way?

  58. FletchTHEMAN says:

    Costas,
To my mind, Ando was crap in the last game. He will be brought back, but need something else today in my view. I am not worried about Gibbo. Has been improving steadily and should do fine. Might be a marker for Scholes to come in for the final 20 minutes as well.

Let’s stop slagging and get behind the boys. Up United. Crush the blues!!!

  59. TAO says:

    berba T^T

  60. Utd4life says:

@Goat..I can’t really see them scoring 2 goals unless they score the 1st..And SAF will make sure that the lads don’t lose their concentration at any point during the game..If complacency creeks in then we can get bit in the ass..

  61. Mes says:

HATE the build up. Been off work today and have sat on my own watching SSN all day. I’m about as hyped as I could be. Tony V on the bench I’m really not sure about but Alex knows better than me. Agree with Costas about Ando tho.

My god I’m all over the place. My usual crew are out of town or unavailable. Anyone want to come over and hold my hand?

    Jesus, I need drugs.

  62. willierednut says:

Is that the Rock steady crew?

  63. McQueen says:

come on lads! delighted no Drogba, I reckon relations with him and Ancelotti are strained to say the least at the mo, to our benefit. The ladyboy is a shadow of his former self, up to Rio and Vida to keep it that way, COME ON!

  64. Mes says:

Willie, which one is Crazy Legs?

    :)

My god, Dr. Evil on now, what a line up of twunts.

  65. GoatinaUnitedShirt says:

    @Utd4life
Cant really see them scoring 2 goals, I can but only if we decide to F about, Im uneasy about this game. I particularly dont like it when the betting companies have a team like chelsea at 3½ times your money, thats silly. This stinks of trouble. Dont get me wrong Im not a doom and gloom profit but Im not taking this for granted.

  66. Costas says:

    @Fletch

Don’t know mate. I thought he was ok considering it was his first game in 2 weeks. I hope he is going to get better from now on, because Fletcher is a big loss and no one knows for sure what his form will be like when he returns.

  67. wayne says:

Hi lads driving right now hallf hour away from a pub that’s shows the game going to stay on rom for updates

  68. Costas says:

By the way, this is the ladyboy’s third game at OT this season and there’s one more to come, lol.

  69. willierednut says:

    Mes – Crazy legs lol.

  70. rachreddevil1 says:

look at the crowd this is how it feels to city

  71. Mes says:

Willie, if anyone deserves that moniker I guess it would have to be Nani!

  72. FletchTHEMAN says:

    Tonights ref
    Eurosport:
    Manuel Bartolo Benquerenca from Portugal.
The Portuguese official has taken charge of two Champions League matches at Old Trafford, against CSKA Moscow and Rangers, and United have won neither. Conversely, Benquerenca has taken charge of two European games involving Chelsea, blowing the final whistle on two wins for the Blues.
And, just to add an extra layer of faux-significance, the same referee took charge of England’s win over Wales last month, in which he awarded a penalty scored by Frank Lampard.”

  73. dv-ant says:

anyone got any sopcast links ?

  74. redrider says:

tranny cunt gonna torment and tickle vidic by tripping over his skirt repeatedly. :)

  75. Costas says:

Come on UNited! Revenge for those two dark days against Chelsea and Bayern 12 months ago!

  76. 11am says:

Hopefully andos out through fitness. He’s played a couple of times since coming back and would expect him to be involved at the weekend. Fergie can’t put gibbo ahead for any reason other than fitness.

On a side note to ppl slagging andos last performance, first proper game back and he missed a couple of decent chances, however his pass for nani for the goal, no one in the team apart from
Him would be able to pick that out so well.

  77. Real AB says:

    @FletchTHEMAN

    Scary Stats mate :O

  78. Mes says:

Ha haa, did anyone see the footage of the ref dishing out a red card on SSN earlier on?

    Reminded me of this guy:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i-3cuCEt9k8

  79. smartalex says:

If nothing else, recent events have surely taught us that we must win despite the ref’s intent.

  80. Falsafa says:

We should go for 2 goals in the first half. That kills the game.

  81. smartalex says:

    Come on United!

  82. Utd4life says:

Looks like the atmosphere at OT is electrifying..

  83. Farhan Borst says:

English SOPCAST Link anyone? Por favor.

  84. Real AB says:

Hopefully we will get a 2-0 win tonight.

I have a funny feeling that one of our full back will score tonight :P

  85. keano99 says:

@mg. Thanks mate uv made me feel more confident

  86. Real AB says:

See you all at half-time :)

  87. edwin says:

    COME ON UNITED!!!

  88. FletchTHEMAN says:

Costas, That’s just it. He looked very rusty. Full backing for Ando, but too much to risk tonight.

  89. harpheeze says:

go and do it, MANUTD on top. Victory awaits us

  90. Mes says:

    Fucking hell lads COME ON

  91. Devil310 says:

Need to get rio out…he’s hurt

  92. Mahesh says:

Bloody hell – this is unwatchable. With Rio hobbling this is torture. Dear god, i don’t remember the last time I was shaking like this…

  93. Mahesh says:

Carrick has been immense already – the Rio injury has just lost our composure. Now the Park injury…Bloody hell can be we get a few minutes with 11 fully fit players on the pitch pleaaaseee!!!

  94. Balaji Sivaraman says:

@Mahesh, Was just about to say that. Carrick has been everywhere so far. And why haven’t we substituted still?

  95. Mahesh says:

    OH BLOODDY HEELLLL!!!!

  96. Mahesh says:

Pardon me guys – I’m just going to keep talking to myself here…can’t bear to watch!!!

  97. dela says:

Holy fuck. Hernandez was onside by a mile. Will the media raise a hue and cry about that shocker from the linesman? Will they fuck.

  98. parryheid says:

Chelsea are going to pay later in the game for their high intensity game they are playing.

  99. Unitedfanatic says:

Perfectly legit goal. Fuck the linesman

  100. Balaji Sivaraman says:

WTF? Linesman couldn’t even see Hernandez. He was fully covered by the defender and he still gives offside. I don’t understand.

Also, of all the things Nani has learned at United, he still hasn’t learned how to take a corner.

  101. Mahesh says:

Parryheid – you migth well be right, at least I hope you are. And that might explain SAF holding Valencia back as well. He will rip a tired Chelsea to pieces…

  102. jespermoses says:

Cant believe that goal was chopped off….perfect goal and miles onside…..got a funny feeling that will come back to haunt us!

  103. Mahesh says:

oooff – my first thought was that EDVS had fucked up, but wow he read that well…I can’t wait for half time!

  104. Balaji Sivaraman says:

Parryheid, I agree but we have to make sure we don’t concede when they are on the offense. A goal now would give them the confidence they need. However, we have to make sure we don’t concede.

Rooney again getting frustrated by Nani. I think he is the best player of the season but moments like that will frustrate everyone especially when Rooney was miles free and it is a game of this importance.

  105. Mahesh says:

Have to say this is as good as I’ve seen rooney play for a looong loooonggg time!

  106. Unitedfanatic says:

The ref looks bought. Don’t be surprised if Chelski score an illegal goal and get away with it.

  107. ridiclus says:

we really miss rafa o shea is a worker but cant pass a ball to save his life

  108. dela says:

Oh, what would I not give to see CLLC sent off?

  109. Unitedfanatic says:

    Bull fucking dog. Fuck you

  110. ridiclus says:

WHAT A PASS BY O SHEA

  111. gerkeo says:

    Peas, yummy

  112. dela says:

    @ridiclus
I was about to say that I agree but what a pass from OShea!

    Chicharitoooooooooo!

  113. Unitedfanatic says:

    FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK!!

  114. Mes says:

    chicoooooooooooooooooooooosrgiruhgjo9aew8itp0w34itoiw3a8y4bo81b2uGH4OIu7y40

  115. parryheid says:

    You Beauty Chico

  116. McQueen says:

    FUCK YEEEEEAHHH!!!! HERNANDEZZ!!!!

  117. Mes says:

    THANK FUCK FOR THAT

  118. RedScot says:

Get in there Javier, Brilliant, you are a star*

  119. dela says:

When Johnny goes marching down the wing,
    O’Shea! O’Shea!
When Johnny goes marching down the wing,
    O’Shea! O’Shea!
When Johnny goes marching down the wing,
The Stretford End are gonna sing…
“We all know that Johnny’s gonna score”

  120. Mahesh says:

YEEEEEESSSS!!!!!! FUCCCCCKK YEEEAAAHHH!!!! Brilliant Rooney, Giggs, O’Shea and Chicharito!!!!! WHO ARE YA?????!!!!

  121. hammer says:

    GOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLL!!

  122. Unitedfanatic says:

@ridiclus: Haha mate O’shea did you. What a beautoful pass that was :P

  123. Balaji Sivaraman says:

Beautiful play from O’Shea and Giggs. Fuck off linesman, Give that offside will you. Fuck off.

That’s the goal we need and without Valencia as well. I think Chelsea will find it very difficult in the 2nd half now. Come on United!

  124. FletchTHEMAN says:

    GIGGGGGGSSSSSSSS TOOOOO CHICCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCAAAAARRRRRRRRRIIIIIIIITTTOOOO!!!

    Little pea, youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu beeauuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuutyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

  125. Mahesh says:

To be fair guys, the linesman go the first on right – lets not beat on the officials when they’ve handled this pretty well I think!

  126. Xyth says:

Well done lads. Now we just need to play it nice and simple and hit them on the break!!!!!

  127. Mahesh says:

Get Rio checked out, and come out looking to play it simple – lets do this nice and easy!

  128. Unitedfanatic says:

Let’s not get carried away lads. Need to keep going, Chelsea already needed to score 2 goals to be through. Don’t let the goal get to your head and concentrate!

  129. FletchTHEMAN says:

Chicharito is on my sons shirt!
It’s a knock off so don’t bash me lads. Still.

    #14 is the bomb!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How many feet does that ball wiz by before Javier makes contact. That lad is something special!

  130. alfREDo says:

Gonna make myself a half time triple expresso to calm me down!!!

  131. Balaji Sivaraman says:

Nah Mahesh, Hernandez was behind the defender closest to him from where I saw. I may be wrong that but I am pretty sure that was not offside.

Does anyone else find it amazingly funny that LadyBoy cannot even play against a 50% fit Ferdinand. Also, I think it is fair play to Anelka that he did not fall on the VDS tackle. Ladyboy would’ve fallen for a red there.

  132. ridiclus says:

@UNITEDFANATIC.. you better believe it but to be honest its my favourite flavour of humble pie

  133. Saad says:

Of course I’m elated with the goal but I hate that we play in such a reserved / defensive manner against Chelsea. We gotta dominate possession. This is our park, after all. We can’t let them dictate terms on our own turf. I wish we could recreate the game we played against them at OT in the 08-09 season where we won 3-0. That game showed the real us. Yeah, I know what some of you will say. At that time, there was a certain someone called Ronaldo in our team, but hey, we’re still United, baby!!!

  134. Unitedfanatic says:

Fuck off Alan shearer. United should have been 2 up, It’s chelsea who are fortunate, not Man united. Twat

  135. gaz says:

calm lads 1 more where there!

  136. smartalex says:

Absolutely loving it! United are well in it now, with everyone playing their part. It was never going to be easy, and chelsea were far better than the 1st leg. Nevertheless, we held firm despite Rio’s travails, and produced a masterful team goal!

Edwin is the Colossus! He could rival Franz as sweeper!

    Come on United!

  137. Costas says:

I think it was really evident how United’s performance mirrored Rio’s health. Once he shook off his knock, we got a hold of Chelski.

And what a goal! Sheasy making amends for some bad passing, Giggsy tearing them apart again and Chico doing what he does best. ;)

  138. Mickjk says:

    Redknapp bitter cunt!!! Woooooo!!

  139. Utd4life says:

Still not over..Rentboys are going to come at us with everything they have got..Bring on Tony V and hit them on the counter..Another goal for us and Chelsea are well and truly dusted..

  140. edwin says:

HT. Wethered the storm got the goal we needed. Need to stay sharp at the back, stop em from scoring above all else. And some goals please.

  141. Saad says:

They should modify the offside law. Just because a person’s head is sticking ahead of the defender doesn’t give the attacker that much an advantage. If the attacker is at least one footstep ahead of the defender, that should be called offside.

  142. RedPharoe says:

Kudos to John O’Shea for setting up Giggs for one great cross…
Hernandes is a natural born killer in front od the goal, love the guy.

  143. FletchTHEMAN says:

VDS for my first half MOTM. He positively DID Anelka about 25 yard off his line. I want a poster of the look on Anelka’s face!!!!!!

Come on United, put this match away. Chelsea can’t play in their own half. They are absolutely lost when we keep it in their half. Come on lads. Manchester is RED.

  144. redrider says:

    in SAF we trust!
    and wait a minute!
in the ladyboy we trust… to goof up!

I hope VdS’s family is watching the game.

  145. Real AB says:

Not the best performance but we are 1-0 up.

Chicharito.. wow what a gem… Brilliant work by Giggs and what a pass by O’Shea.. Although he needs to be careful or he could get sent off..

  146. parryheid says:

    By god
do these continental refs not half sort out the thugs, serious serious problems for Chelsea next half but of course they may just chuck it.

  147. Mes says:

Sir Bryan of Briggs. How good is he?

VDS tackle on that weirdo with the upside down head. Priceless.

If he’d have fucked that up not only would we have been down to ten men but all due respect, PIG in goal too, not good. Fuckin ace tackle.

As for the disallowed goal, tbh, I’m almost happy to see it. It more than cancels out the pen that should have been given to them in the first leg.

    O’shea, what a pass.

Rooney, how fucking good has he been? Bloody amazing.

All the above said, they beat us 2-1 at OT before. Let’s not let it happen again.

    Happy second half folks.

    GET STUCK IN LADS

  148. Chaosred says:

Carrick is the man am so impressed by him. Nani show some fight like park!!!

  149. Utd4life says:

We should have been 2 up..Chico’s header should have counted..

  150. Unitedfanatic says:

Imagine Chelsea throwing their everything at this tie halftime onwards, and Valencia coming on to the horror of a tired defence. Keep it down and keep going lads!

  151. ridiclus says:

if chelsea do get 1 it will be very dangerous for them as we will do them on the break, and with rooney and hernandez on schorching form there is another goal for us

  152. North Stand Tier 2 says:

Get in Reds! Chicho is a legend in the making!

Need to start dominating midfield more. Nani isnt getting into it as much as you would like but is a danger.

This could still go either way.

Disagree about the disallowed goal, he’s offside I think, if any of your body that you can score with is ahead of the defender then its offside right?

  153. Costas says:

Torres and Chicha justifying their fees. Hernandez showing why he is worth 50 mil. Oh wait…

    @Real AB

Yeah maybe Brown should replace JOS after the 60th minute. You know Chelsea will target him.

  154. Ferane-Mauritius says:

extremely happy for chico, a good lad, he is the modern striker.

  155. Costas says:

    Come on United!

  156. Mahesh says:

Lets gets Tony V warmed up – I would want him on with maybe 60-65 mins gone for Park…

  157. Chaosred says:

I dont know what these pundits are doing to you, but they are there to make things negative. Im watching it with no commentators just the crowd. And so far so good everyone is doing a shift, nani needs to get into the game more they’re marking him too close.

  158. edwin says:

    COME ON UNITED!!!!

  159. Real AB says:

    @Costas
Agreed mate about Brown for O’Shea.

See you all at full-time :)

  160. Unitedfanatic says:

    Hahaha ladyboy substituted…

  161. smartalex says:

    Come on United!!

  162. Saad says:

Vanda’s worth is not just the fact that he had the self-confidence in his skills to make that tackle but rather more in the fact that he made the split-nanosecond decision to burst out of his box and go for the loose ball, miles away from safety. That’s what 20 years of experience gives you. Oh, I am so NOT looking forward to the post-VDS era. Too many bad memories of Taibi, Carroll, Bosnich and Howards! :S

  163. Alpha_RS says:

Gary Linekar says “Humiliating substitution for Fernando Torres!”

    Love it.

  164. Mahesh says:

The first 10 mins of this half are going to be key – they are going to try and hit us hard and early with all they got…

  165. alfREDo says:

    Be Strong,
    Be Focussed,
    Be United!!!

  166. Mahesh says:

This is ridiculous – if Rio is injured he has to come off!!! Can’t bloody play with 10 men all the bloody time…

  167. FletchTHEMAN says:

Spot of Costas. We were very iffy when Rio and Park were struggling. When they shook that off, we started to get some good penetration. What you lot have to say for VDS for fans player of the year!

Crs$%^&st here comes the Drogs. No worries. Lets put in the net again!

  168. Mahesh says:

What the hell Evra – does he have to make at least one stupid error EVERY game!

  169. dela says:

How was that not a booking? Wasn’t Fat Frank the last man?

  170. Unitedfanatic says:

And now preferential treatment to Lampard. That should have been a booking atleast

  171. jrdonl says:

any indian fan in tis blog..hi ya’ll…its thrilling 2 watch utd tie after midnight

  172. Mahesh says:

Park needs to come of asap – he’s lacking pace, not in an attacking but a defensive sence…just get Tony V on…

  173. TonyBee says:

    essien …dirty cunt

  174. shubhangmanred says:

    Fuck off Ramires!

  175. McQueen says:

    haha fuck off ramires. twat

  176. RedScot says:

Ramires off. classic, it was always on the “cards”

  177. Mahesh says:

I would have taken a goal over a sending off, but I won’t complain – thank you Ramires, well done lad!

  178. shubhangmanred says:

    Ramires..the best brazillian ever..yeah right!

  179. TonyBee says:

what the fuck…Ramirez you fucking cunt….red card good…..

  180. McQueen says:

    Rooney sublime tonight

  181. shubhangmanred says:

Finish the game now lads!!! Bring Tony V on…

  182. Balaji Sivaraman says:

What’s there to complain? Tackle from behind – second yellow equals Red. I don’t understand.

Come on United. Amazing play from Rooney for the setup. I think this might make it more difficult for us. Playing against 10 men in a knockout scenario is never easy.

  183. TonyBee says:

essien off next ……with a bit of justice

  184. Deftones says:

    Giggs playing well….

  185. Devil310 says:

Rooney should have a crack at this one

  186. Mahesh says:

John Terry – the fuck should be OFF!

  187. Unitedfanatic says:

    Come on bury it!

  188. shubhangmanred says:

How the fuck is Terry still on the field? Certain booking! Brilliant by Nani….he’s off now….Tony V in.

  189. Unitedfanatic says:

Bring on Valencia please! Let’s kill this off right now.

  190. Mahesh says:

Yeah Baby TONY V!!! WHY NANI OFF!!!! DAMMIT! We can kill them now!

  191. Saad says:

    The inconvenient truth:

    Drogba owns Evra.

  192. Deftones says:

Thanks for the shift nani….over to u Tony v

  193. Mahesh says:

    FUCK, I cannot watch this!

  194. shubhangmanred says:

Take that fucking cunts! Up ur cockney arse!! PArk <3

  195. Unitedfanatic says:

Suck that!! Keep sucking on it!!

  196. RochesterRed says:

    WHAT FUCKING WHAAAATTTT????

  197. Mahesh says:

YEEEEESSS !!!!! PARKY forgive me!!! I LOVE YOU!!!!!

  198. McQueen says:

    ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC!!

  199. TonyBee says:

    I’ve just had a Parkgasm………

  200. Balaji Sivaraman says:

Mahesh, you can watch it now. :D

It’s that man Park again. Bought him just to sell shirts, did we?

  201. RedScot says:

Classic United counterattack. Thats what you call a response.Ji sung you beauty.

  202. thedonmassawe says:

    Fuck off! Chavskis!

  203. Balaji Sivaraman says:

If that doesn’t knock the stuffing out of Chelsea – getting the equalizer so soon after them getting their goal – then nothing will. And now they’ve got to get 2 to win it which is nearly impossible. But stranger things have happened.

  204. Devil310 says:

Chicha for Berba and Scholes in for Park now…shift Giggs wide to get some fresh legs and put this to bed!!!

  205. TonyBee says:

Redscot….you fucking beauty….what a fucking game to watch

  206. KingOfStretfordEnd says:

All I can say- Thank you very very very much Park. So much.

  207. thedonmassawe says:

He is selling us shirts and scoring goals!

  208. TonyBee says:

park looks absolutely knackered …give him a break…..SAF

  209. KingOfStretfordEnd says:

I totally can’t remember anything of Park’s goal. My mind’s in a whirl.

  210. berbatunday says:

though slaughtered at the presentation, l am elated……get in there

  211. TonyBee says:

WELL DONE GIGGS …KICK THE terry BASTARD

  212. RedScot says:

@TonyBee aye mate its been like two heavyweight boxers knocking the fuck out of each other.
Its been a great match.Just one boxer has got the final punch.
    On we march

  213. rachreddevil1 says:

    carrick = awsome

  214. Mes says:

    BRILLIANT BRILLIANT BRILLIANT.

    Superb all round.

    Enjoy your night reds

  215. Unitedfanatic says:

    Wooooohhhoooooooooooooooooooo!!!!

  216. Vishal S says:

Wat a brilliant match:-):).. GLORY GLORY MAN UNITED:).. REDS GO MARCHING ON TO WEMBLEY.:):)

  217. dela says:

Loved the look on Abrahamovic’s face when Ramires got sent off. Great performance, great result. Carrick was the MOTM again, imo.

  218. kaihnsn says:

chicarito and parkarito fucked cska london hahaha nice. no atkinson this time to help.

  219. Balaji Sivaraman says:

MOTM tight call between Rooney and Carrick. Slight edge to the latter because of how wonderfully he covered for Ferdinand. And no small thanks to Ferdinand also, who played great through injury.

And we won which is good. Chelsea fans cannot use the penalty as an excuse which would’ve happened had we drawn.

    Go Go Man United!

  220. KingOfStretfordEnd says:

Our midfield’s been getting it hard over the season, with reason of course, by today he midfield was fantabulous. Period. Carrick, Giggs, Park were the stars today for me. The rest were brilliant, but today’s midfield performance is something to be proud of.

  221. rachreddevil1 says:

    redknapps face bloody brilliant

  222. Balaji Sivaraman says:

And when do we start spamming emails into Van Der Sar’s mail box asking him to stay? Anyone with me? :)

  223. Mahesh says:

If I was a chelsea fan, enemy no. 1 would be ladyboy, no. 2 would be ancelotti. If Drogba had started for them, we might have struggled when Rio was struggling.

  224. Ferane-Mauritius says:

    @balaji
    am with you mate.

  225. Vishal S says:

    @balaji I’m on:)

  226. Xyth says:

Fuck ABU Media. On every channel they were wanting a rent boy win, but our boys have done us proud!

    Bring on Barca or Fascists!!!!

  227. McQueen says:

Some top performances tonight, in fact, no one had a bad game really. Further evidence that in our search to replace Scholes we need look no further than… Wayne Rooney. Controlled the game after we went ahead.

  228. Costas says:

Well done lads! Fuck off Chelski. :D

Carrick once again proving why this is not championship manager. Knocked out Chelsea without Fletcher in midfield. Who would have thunk it?

  229. ridiclus says:

@MAHESH dont even no y rio stayed on, anything chelse had came from him

  230. PHZ says:

Yeah! CL final is so close….

  231. portugueseprincess says:

FUck off Chavs hahahahahahhahahahahahahahahha this is MANCHESTER UNITEDDDD!!! I wanna have Giggs babies!!! :) :)

  232. Balaji Sivaraman says:

@Mahesh, When Drogba came on, he produced a brilliant turn and left-footed shot which left Rio nowhere. I did not understand Ancelloti’s subs at all. Anelka was a great player and arguably their best player over the past few weeks and he takes him off for Kalou who is not exactly setting the world alight at the moment is he. I was dumbfounded by his lineup and his subs.

Ladyboy is the biggest waste of 50mil quid I have ever seen. He has no heart for the game. He may have talent but he is miles behind Drogba for having the heart for the game. Everytime Drogba is on, he plays with a passion that leaves me thinking who would play Torres ahead of him.

  233. Sir Ryan Giggs says:

WEMBLEY! WEMBLEY! WE’RE THE FAMOUS MAN UTD AND WE’RE GOING TO WEMBERLEY!!

  234. Vishal S says:

Chico 6 million, Park 4 million, Ladyboy 50 Million.. Expression on The expression of Abramovich.. FUCKIN PRICELESS:).. A few things money can’t buy(team spirit, belief, sir alex).. For Everything Else.. Chelshit N Shitty.. Now Bring On Shitty..

  235. Saad says:

If Drogba wasn’t a blue, I’d really like him. He’s a damn good player. Easily the best power forward of the past six years.

But there’s nobody better than Giggsy…tearing them apart at the young age of 37. Three goals…all three assisted by Giggsy. DAMN!!!

  236. Ferane-Mauritius says:

i really love the way we played intelligently! Fucking brillant!

  237. jrdonl says:

chelsea knocked out…bring it on…ve already knocked out livpl, arsnl in fa,now chelsea in cl wats up with tis season

  238. willierednut says:

We won’t be denied, we’ll never give up

We’re Man United, we’ll do what we want!!!!!

    Ye haaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

  239. Balaji Sivaraman says:

@McQueen, Tell me about it. I have been ranting for months on this blog that there is no need to look elsewhere for a Scholes replacement. If recent weeks are anything to go by, I would say Sir Alex feels the same way since he has been experimenting with Rooney lately. We’ll see. I’ll personally be very disappointed if SAF does not turn Rooney into another Scholes. But then again, he’s the master, so who am I to say.

  240. Utd4life says:

The entire team can take a bow..They were fantastic tonight..Who would have thought about 4-6 months ago that we could beat Chelsea with 4-4-2 considering how inept our MF was??

Some of Rooney’s long ball passing was just out of this world.. And I love you, Parkyyyyyyyyyyy..

  241. Costas says:

    @portugueseprincess

He is too old for you. :P Bale is also available. :D

  242. RedScot says:

@ The portuguese princess.Hells bells you want to have Giggs babies? Last week it was you want to have Dimitars babies. You dont half put it about do you? lmao.
    Great night.Enjoy.

  243. Balaji Sivaraman says:

@Saad, Also I wouldn’t say Evra is easily overpowered by Drogba. You are talking about a huge size mismatch there that just cannot be let go. I’d say Vidic should cover more often for Evra when he is one-on-one with Drogba. There is no way Evra can win a physical battle (like the one that led to the goal) with Drogba alone. It just will not happen.

  244. dannysoya says:

WE DID IT BABY!!! CELEBRATION TIME HAHAHAHAHA!!!!!
    RYAN GIGGS IS SIMPLY AGELESS!!!!
    WAYNE ROONEY IS A BEAST!!!!
Michael carrick for playing his life out today.
How about rio for staying on the damn pitch thru injury.
how about VDS for tackling that bald fucker anelka.
How about Hernandez for scoring two LEGITIMATE goals.
How about Patrice Evra for shutting down Ramires and Ivanovic.
How about Vidic for keeping Ladyboy quiet. Drogba got lucky.
How about Nani for pure skill and determination and for making a fool of John shitface and his gay partner Alex.
How about John o’shea for shutting down Malouda.
How about Tony V for keeping Ashley cole busy.
How about fergie for the tactics. WE ALL DID WELL!!! Superb performance. Now it’s time to take a short rest and smash shitty at wembley on saturday. COME ON UNITED!!!!
Also props to drogba who played his heart out for chelsea.

  245. 3/without/killing/anyone* says:

Calm down fellow reds. Why are we bragging about Wembley ? We still have to beat Inter/Shalke to get to the final. #stayonyourfeet

  246. MG says:

This shirt is a symbol of defiance those that choose to wear it know

    Next:

  247. Vishal S says:

Isn’t it amazing.. Ladyboy dawning the Shirt the luserfool’s.. Knocked outta Fa cup.. Ladyboy dawns the shirt of chelshit.. Knocked outta Champs league.. Haha;-)

  248. North Stand Tier 2 says:

    Get in Reds!

Close game but over the two legs we definitely deserved to go through. Created the best chances, had a goal disallowed. They were lucky to not finish both games with 9 men. Terry should have been off today for a second yellow when Nani was through. Ref bottled it.

So happy to end their season. Thats how much I hate Chelsea. So glad it was us that got to put them out, and deservedly so. No controversy, we deserved to win.

Hopefully the luck we need to win the Champs League will come in the final if we get there!

  249. willierednut says:

Costas says, Who would have thunk It? Fucking love It lol. Carrick, my motm, but Park was class.

  250. smartalex says:

    … breathless …

  251. Saad says:

The man I really feel bad for is Berbatov. It’s such a shame that he can’t share these moments with his teammates on the field during these wonderful events. He certainly deserves to. He and Nani have been our Premier League heroes this season and I sure hope he gets some reward for it in the end. The guy is just too good a footballer and I hate for him to feel left out. But you can’t blame Sir Alex for it…Chico and Rooney are just on fire!

  252. Ferane-Mauritius says:

bring on real mad get rid n barce alone, am not afraid of them! My man united is far better than them

  253. Utd4life says:

Special mention to Carrick..his contribution was vital to Utd’s victory..Covered the most ground among all the players and really got stuck in..He brings a lot of composure to the back 4..More of the same Carrick..

  254. dannysoya says:

Hey let’s not get ahead of ourselves we still gotta play schalke or Inter. we are not yet in the final. Just take every game as it comes. Enjoy this game and look forward to the game at the weekend. Simple.

  255. Costas says:

    @MG

Up next is the future. :D

    @willie

Yep, Park was also awesome. 7 goals this season by the way…

  256. KingOfStretfordEnd says:

Carrick was fantastic. Absolutely fantastic. Top form, and what at time that’s come. He needs the credit and big pat on the back, cos we’ve not missed Fletcher, our big game player and all due credit to Carrick these few games. He’s the man of the match overall for both ties, with Rooney, Giggs and Park coming all close.

  257. MG says:

    Costas

We were here last year and we know how bad it was

    I bow down to Carrick

    Well and truly lessons learnt…

    Phew…

  258. ididnotzeeit says:

Fuck me what a game. There were spells where Chelsea were threatening no doubt, especially early on, some nail biting moments, but what a great performance! Can’t think of the last time we played that well. The 2nd half was completely ours.

Stand Outs? When was the last time it was this tough? My vote goes to 3-Lung as that was one of his best games I’ve ever seen him play in a United kit. Anyone else notice, after he went off to fix the nasty gash on his eye, than came back in, we began to take the game over? The other lads took notice, get fucking stuck in, play right proper football and we’re taking this game by the scruff.

My hat’s off Park my boy, you were all over the pitch tonight and to you sir, the game ball.

  259. willierednut says:

Have to say lads, when Drogba scored, I felt like throwing up. But, Parky eased the tension. We’re Man United, we’ll do what we want!!!!!!!!!!!

  260. Balaji Sivaraman says:

@danny, We can certainly get ahead of ourselves. That’s what fans do mate. :D :)

It’s SAF and the player who should not do that and I am pretty sure the only thing that is being talked in that dressing room right now is, “Good job guys! Get ready for the weekend!”. That is what makes this club so special.

Always looking to win things everywhere. Like MG always says, The Shirt is a Symbol of Defiance.

  261. rat1p says:

crisp performance rooney was all over the place and his passes were outrageous

  262. Passe says:

If I didn’t knew better, I would think that the boys at talksport are on their period…

  263. Always Be Closing says:

@3/without/killing/anyone* – we ARE going to Wembley, this week.

  264. bchilds says:

Top performance and the semi finals again!

You have to admit our team work their absolute arse off to win football games, they have not enjoyed as many plaudits as they deserve this season for not playing ‘pretty’ football but my God do our team work hard and know how to win.

So proud of our boys, forza United!

  265. dannysoya says:

Willierednut LOL how do you think i felt when drogba scored. I was like here we go again but when Park popped up and smashed home then i knew it was all over. AWESOME PERFORMANCE. i forgot to include park in my ode. Park for being park ( i.e Mr big game , big goal player).

  266. North Stand Tier 2 says:

Park is a big game player, it comes as no surprise that he was top drawer tonight. Consistently delivers high quality tactical performances on the big occasion!

Well done Carrick and Giggsy too!

  267. Channy says:

And the Rentboys are gone!!! Job well done. Once again without the FA they cannot beat us.

  268. Balaji Sivaraman says:

Also, I am beginning to wonder if Park really does have 3-Lungs. There is no other explanation for his constant running in the 92nd minute. I am contacting Dr. House right now.

  269. Saad says:

Ancelotti’s team selections and substitutions prove a statement he made earlier in the season: he is NOT in control of his team. I think he feels forced to start Torres in order to justify the price tag. Although in both Ancelotti’s and Abramovich’s defense, the real Fernando Torres disappeared sometime before Jan 2010.

  270. ididnotzeeit says:

And is it just me or is Chicharito the first guy to greet a player and celebrate a goal every time?

Pure class that kid, him and Rooney appeared to be having a bit of a “romp in the hay” after the 1st. No shame from Rooney, I’m sure many of us have wanted to tackle that little poacher a number of times this season, what a buy.

  271. McQueen says:

Balaji Sivaraman – Fergie is definitely giving him more freedom to roam, playing him with Hernandez and giving Rooney a free role. Thats why Berba has been sacrificed really because it works so well. With this freedom Rooney is deciding to act as playmaker a lot of the time, but also getting into the box when needed and scoring goals, absolutely dominant performances lately, I hope he’s not going anywhere at the end of the season!

As for Drogbas goal, I don’t blame anyone for it, all the credit goes to Drogba cos it was brilliant. First touch was perfect and ANY other touch and Vidic and Evra would have been on him in time. Was a deadly goal, I thank God that Park pooped up with a beauty cos it was about to get tense! Great finish from Park, love the guy!

  272. Costas says:

In the interest of fairness, I have to say that I was impressed with Drogba. He was fighting us on his own most of the time. I know that Ancelotti will get the blame from Abramovich, but I think he can also thank a 50 million pound waste of space that did nothing in 2 games.

God forbid if Berbatov was ever substituted at half time while the rags were labeling him a flop.

  273. MG says:

    Costas

The future is about to become real ;)

  274. Saad says:

Carrick has been replaced by a T-888!

  275. smartalex says:

Edwin erred in attacking the through ball, yet his speed of thought (IQ) kept him on his feet, surprising anelka, and enabling a challenge, and then a comfortable clearance.

  276. Ferane-Mauritius says:

hey guys do you realise that tonight we piss over 85 million pounds of that abramovich! Am curious to know how he must be feeling right now!

  277. Costas says:

    @MG

I said it before kick off mate. This was the opportunity to get revenge on 2 fronts. That unfair knock out from Bayern and the Chelsea defeat at OT 12 months ago. How sweet it is.

  278. Dimitar Berbatov is King says:

Good game. I was a little sad at not seeing Berbatov…but hey, we need him to crush the life out of another rival.

    One game at a time…

  279. bchilds says:

    After 2 defeats in 2 games we’ve now won 7 from 7 – that’s how United respond!

  280. dannysoya says:

@ Costas agreed. The only player in blue who looked like taking us on all no his own. Class player.

  281. Balaji Sivaraman says:

If I were Drogba, I would show a big middle finger to Abramovich and Ancelloti and move to another club that wants me to play because I am the better player.

  282. Passe says:

Park is just unreal. One of our best players atm along with Rooney and Giggs. And VDS, and Carrick. Nani and Valencia aren’t too shabby either. Rio playing with a dead leg for 80 minutes. Just unreal. Now Rio can be on the sidelines untill our next big game. Ah, Hernandez is quite handy too.

  283. RedScot says:

@MG, THE Future is about to become Barca. :D Mark my words in your diary for Landin.
Nighters lads. Glory Glory Man United and the Reds go marching on on on on

  284. T. says:

Ok, next! Just bring em on. Right now it feels like we are invincible. Bring Shitty on, bring Barca on, who cares.

Magic night. Total control from minute one til te end. chicharito running havoc through Chelseas defensive line, A quicker Rooeny then I ever seen him. It looked like Cashley was a bistander.

Terry should have been sent off again, but who cares.

Ref was good when he wasn´t instrructed by the FA.

I´m in love with my team!

    Good night.

  285. arse-seen Wenk-er says:

Parks goal gave me an orgasm !!! Multiple ones that lasted at least 30 mins Lololol

  286. willierednut says:

Exactly. Said to my old man. Park is a BIG game player. Over the two, our goals were majestic. The passing and movement, was far too good for Chelsea. That’s Arsenal and Chelsea we’ve seen off in champions league. The fans were top class as well.

  287. Saad says:

For a team like United that such gifted wingers and pass-masters, buying Chicharito was an absolute stroke-of-genius, especially considering his price-tag. He is a platinum-plated, diamond-studded, solid gold goal-scoring beast who has unagi pumping through his veins.

  288. MG says:

    Costas

The team is on a march to destiny

We are on the cusp of destiny

We started this journey in August – wherever we get to we will get with a wing and a prayer

But more importantly if we do it the United way then their will be no going back

After last year and having the worst midfield on record TM – we are still standing

    For United

  289. North Stand Tier 2 says:

As much of a twat as he is, Drogba is a quality player!

I think we were all delighted when he was on the bench at the start!

  290. portugueseprincess says:

Breaking News: David Blaine’s 40 day world record for doing nothing in a box has been broken… by Fernando Torres!!

  291. Costas says:

    @bchilds

7 out of 7 since Valencia has returned. Just saying…

    @dannysoya

And a cunt of course. :D

  292. bchilds says:

Park’s goal was a great finish, if it would have remained 1-1 for a period of time we not been smiling from ear to ear now! That was perfect timing!

  293. alfREDo says:

Big up the composure of Carrick, timeless class of Giggsy, and sheer energy and work-rate of Park!!
    Thunk you boys!!(@Costas)

  294. 3/without/killing/anyone* says:

    @ Always Be Closing

LOL, minus that, it was a great win over the rentboys, but do not take our semi’s opponent lightly. I’d love us to win every competition that we’re still in, but the 19th is the main priority.

  295. RedLife says:

I cant see Torres starting the league game over Dogbreath. Shame, it will be an even tougher game now. One game at a time. A win at Ars or at home to chelski and we will almost be there.

  296. North Stand Tier 2 says:

Im looking forward to hearing the excuses from the chavs!

  297. MG says:

    RedScot

I’d love to take Barca on but my feeling has always been the same – it will be Madrid it will be against Ronaldo and we will beat them hands down

I said to that to my brother in the charity shield in Wembley…

  298. Zibbie says:

    Awesome what a team!!!!!!!!!!!!

  299. KingOfStretfordEnd says:

I think many’s favorite scapegoat- O Shea needs a good mention. Great job done by him today as well. ok, in fact everybody had a great game.

Anybody else feels torn apart regarding Berba? It’s bittersweet, a great day today yet our best goal scoring striker who’s played a mega part in putting us where we are in the league right now, isn’t really thick in the celebrations.

  300. Ndubi says:

Amazing performance. Carrick and Rooney had the best performance today, and Giggs … If only he could play forever.

  301. willierednut says:

Drogba is a beast. How the lady boy started ahead of him, I’ll never know. I’m happy about It though.

  302. rachreddevil1 says:

    old trafford was jumping tonight

  303. smartalex says:

How does today’s results affect arsenal’s quadruple?

  304. portugueseprincess says:

@ Costas, I like them older and wiser :)
@ Redscot: can you imagine it? I alone would provide United with their best team ever. hahahaha and I would try to have Cristiano’s babies as well. All for the team hahahaha

  305. dannysoya says:

    OH DEFINITELY COSTAS!!!!! :)

  306. Zibbie says:

KOSE a little what you gonna do Rooney and the Lil Pea are a touch of magic as a pair. As well When Nani and Tony play together they don’t loose read back on the last story.

  307. North Stand Tier 2 says:

    @KingofStretford

John started incredibly shakily, stupid foul for the yellow. But his experience shone through, he pulled himself together and put in a solid performance.

Ndubi… maybe he can play forever? See no reason why he wont continue doing the same for another two years at the moment minimum.

  308. Saad says:

    Line-up for Saturday:

VDS, Evra, Vidic, Smalling, Rafael, Nani, Scholes, Anderson, Valencia, Berbatov, Owen.

Subs: Pig, Brown, Evans, Fabio, Carrick, Gibson, Chico.

  309. MG says:

    smartalex

How does this result affect Chelsea’s quadruple?

Not my words – they are the ones that said quadruple

  310. KingOfStretfordEnd says:

Our home game against chelsea in the league, has just doubled in intensity. They’re almost out of all competitions, knocked out of the Champions League by us, and they’ll be dying to win to prevent us from winning the league. What an end to the season.

I can post all day praising every single one of our lads. Chicharito is arguably the steal of the century.

  311. Saad says:

If Giggsy’s appearances are limited to 38 games a season + the odd 10-15 minute sub appearance once or twice a month, he could easily give United two more seasons.

  312. kaihnsn says:

    @portugueseprincess

lol hope ladyboy will not retired this summer. which team gonna buy him if cska london decided to offload him.

  313. MyCowIsTheBest says:

    sweeeet revenge!!!

    congratulations to all United fans!

  314. Zibbie says:

I once new a portugueseprincess in my youth, her eyes were electric her skin had an appeal that pulled on my inter emotional tides. Her hair seamed to float with a wistful breeze. That filled the air with the scent of apple blossoms in the spring.

  315. KingOfStretfordEnd says:

    @Zibbie
    Exactly. Football hurts. Damn. I

Brilliant day enjoy it everybody, I honestly doubt my ability to sleep today. cheers!

  316. parryheid says:

Great performance from all the guys. Now on to target 3 this weekend.Lovin it.

  317. willierednut says:

Saad – Let me enjoy tonight, before I worry about lineups on Saturday lol.

  318. RedMegleeker says:

I’m sure Rooney was taking the clean piss towards the end. That arcer to TonyV near there area, practically sitting on the ball before hand.

    Bring them all on.

  319. Zibbie says:

    Kick Newcastle’s ass!!!!!!!!!!

  320. slim says:

don’t know where to start. Giggsy is simply amazing and should be awarded a knighthood, look at the touch for the first goal, simply amazing. And Carrick, out of this world this is what i expect form him, exactly this. The whole team was fantastic today and credit must go to SAF as well, come on United we’re marching on

Last word on the opposition, Torres looks a bag of shite, Drogba is truly a fantastic striker, why Ancelotti started Ladyboy ahead of Droga, Fuck knows. Who’s next ? man shitty ? Bring it on!!!!!!! Come on United. I’m so chuffed i can barely contain myself

  321. Zibbie says:

    Time to grill some burgers!
    What a great win!

  322. CedarsDevil says:

    Evening lads

Just got my self together again with some basic comprehension skills! Fucked up totally over the last 4 days or so, but great fucking fun!

What a match and well done to all our boys tonight…… UNITED

  323. willierednut says:

I’m not surprised by Giggs anymore. Just a classy player. Superstar!!!!!

  324. Zibbie says:

Drogba is a beast when Man Utd play chelski the best place for him is on the bench. heheheheeh

  325. smartalex says:

MG, now chelsea and arsenal can share a sand box, to which we can add city this weekend.
Our strength and resilience enables us to control our destiny, and therefore the weak perish.

  326. James Evans says:

Giggs teared Chelsea apart, 1 assist at SB, 2 at OT, GGMU!

  327. shabadu84 says:

fucking epic, park was my motm, his movement and neverending attack of the ball messed with chelsea all night…then that composed finish to end the tie

but all in all, we again showed why we were the better TEAM. the heart we showed was simply unmatched all night by chelsea…fantastic and a beautiful sign for the run in

  328. hammons says:

This was the first game in quite some time that I had a hard time picking the United Man of the Match. Eventually went with Rooney, but, my god, how good was Carrick, van der Sar, Park and Giggs?!

I have read so many people praising Carrick, and I have to say that each of them are eating humble pie.

  329. Costas says:

And since I was harsh on the OT crowd on Saturday, I have to say that it was an awesome atmoshere today. Well done Notorious, King Eric, STR and co. :)

  330. jellybean says:

I think JT’s wife is possibly even more upset than Roman about this. Just when she thought John’s bed wetting days were behind him…

Hope Rio’s going to be ok, was worried he was being stupidly stubborn and might injure himself further. Tony V was very lively after coming on I thought, Nani was having a quiet game by his standards. Last week I told my friend to get Park for his fantasy team. PS- where have all the Park slaters gone? I swear I read a comment just a few days back saying he’s surplus to requirements and lost his form due to injury. Sometimes I wonder if those “fans” actually watch all the games, or just write stupid comments from reading match reports.

  331. Kings says:

Wilkins: ‘Torres can’t hit a London Bus bless him, hopefully he’ll get a break soon, if one comes off his backside or something’. Fuck off you cunt, if you want your job back that badly, just go and ask that corrupt bastard. Redknapp: ‘Barcelona are the best side I have ever seen, it will take a momentous effort to beat them’. Fuck off you bitter scouse cunt, if Chelsea had won the tie, you would be tipping them to win it. On a plus note….Get in there! Three Lungs Park always scores in the big games. Arise Please Sir Ryan. Two games, three assists. Legend. Two scouse cunts and a dirty rent boy cunt in the Sky studio, what the fuck!

I had to laugh at those bastards going on about Hernandez being off-side for the first goal. Mmm….funny how they never mentioned Drogba being off-side for his goal in the 2-1 win at Old Trafford last season. Typical ABU cunts.

  332. willierednut says:

Hammons – And you over Rooney, humble pie?

  333. Costas says:

    @jellybean

The same place the Carrick bashers have gone. :D

  334. fergie is the boss says:

I got to say, there is a system change in the past 2 months. There is no set formation, but I do think fergie is planning to get someone like schneider that will play in giggs position long term. This is the team I could see in europe and allot of the home games

    ??
    rafeal ferdinand vidic evra
    carrick schneider
    valencia/park rooney nani
    chico

I have no clue who will be our GK, but I do see a new team which is already starting already be set in motion in the next phew years, even though schneider is not a CM I do think fergie would love to get his hands on schneider and do to him and turn him into a new player that giggs has been transformed

  335. Kings says:

Magical Mexican Hernandez delivers again. Overpriced Drag act Dame Edna loving cunt goes missing again. Priceless.

  336. McQueen says:

Hammons – good choice I would go with Rooney, over both legs maybe Carrick is man of the tie. And Giggs and Park were both superb. And now I feel I must give a mention to Vidic… and VDS, and Hernandez, and Valencia, and Nani…. so many good performances!

  337. Mannings says:

@Kings, don’t worry, Gary Neville will talk some sense next season!

  338. missingOTnowiminoz says:

I have to get up at 4.30am to watch the game live…well worth the early early start, watching the game again already!! Carrick was great, park is back to his best after the injury lay off and rooney is working his way back into our hearts after the early season debarcle. Rooney was running the show tonight. Giggs was moved from left back and was replaced by VDS!! :-)
Now for the shitty in the semi, our momentum my take us to another treble yet!!

  339. GoatinaUnitedShirt says:

VDS typical class and solid play
O’Shea did his job and new exactly when to go forward and more importantly when not to.
Ferdinand had me shitting bricks throughout the match, was it a massive con or is he hurt. What about this weekend?
Vidic class apart from one time in the first half when he was sold but recovered brilliantly
Evra was ok BUT again he has made potential game changing decisions in the negative categorie.!
Carrick was world class and now I hope the Carrick bashers can finally see what he does. Chelsea had to play almost everything wide, they couldnt break quickly down the center because Carrick basically stood in the way of the pass time and time again, ran his heart out. How Capello overlooks the English Pirlo I’ll never know.
    Giggs Giggs FUCKING CLASS.
Park hes a minature Rooney in regards to his industry and a mini Fletcher in his ability to tackle and get up and down the pitch.
Nani always at the cutting edge of things, can infuriate but is still the rightful PFA player of the year.
Rooney controlled everything, showed Terry that even though hes captain of England the future looks alot fucking brighter. He was the new Scholes today.
Chico was exactly what I hoped hed be, Pipo Inzaghi with the desire to track back and help out. The boy is a world class player, we lost Ronaldo 80 million, I wouldnt surrender Chico for that type of money, no chance. Hes good for 250 career goal plus.
Valencia still showing signs of rust but who cares if your Bentley has a spec of rust on one of the wheel arches, its a fucking Bentley.

All in all a performance that would beat Barcelona. Im chuffed to fucking bits

  340. smartalex says:

Good evening and welcome, CedarsDevil! How was the wedding?
More interestingly, how were you, at the wedding? Any insider gossip worth blurting?

  341. willierednut says:

Fergie was asked about De Gea. Some reports, he met with his agent. The plot thickens.

  342. jellybean says:

For all the talk before the quarter finals of how Vida is supposedly terrified by Ladyboy, nobody mentioned that Utd have the man who strikes fear in the heart of every Blue- Sir Ryan Giggs of course.

  343. fergie is the boss says:

McQueen – hernandes has been a massive difference in how we play now, it has improved rooneys game now that he is playing in his true position where he is now the complete player, he can create get involved in midfield and look for players out wide and look to pick chico out

  344. Doghouse says:

We saw what happens to Chelsea when they pick up bookings when they deserve bookings. Their bullishness did not impress the ref and they were broken. Park scored from pretty much the position their red carded player would have been covering.

I don’t think it was as great a performance as the Stamford Bridge game, but got the result.

Have to say, Torres is looking more expensive every week. Last month he cost £50m, this month he cost £50m and the European Cup. If they’d given Drogba 180 minutes against us then it would have been a lot less easy.

  345. Devil310 says:

I think that Torres starting over Drogba has RUSSIAN written all over it….I don’t think a manager of Angelotti’s standards would make that decision.

  346. hammons says:

@willie: I said Rooney had to score a winner against City, Chelsea and Liverpool & lead us to a couple of trophies. I am enjoying his attitude lately, so, yes, I am eating his humble pie, which is fine by me.

@McQueen: Ferdinand was brave with his performance as well. Proved he is better than Terry with just one leg.

  347. Stepover16 says:

PARK JI SUNG – BGP!!!!! BIG GAME PLAYER. Ashley Young????? Don’t think so mate. Tracks back, breaks opposition play, tireless worker, class finisher in the highest pressure moments! He’s back, let’s keep it going for the run-in!!!

  348. Long John O'Shea says:

said it before so ill say it again

    http://www.hastorresscoredforchelsea.com

  349. smartalex says:

Rio’s second leg performance was limp.

Actually, I’m just kidding, I thought he did really well, under trying circumstance.

  350. carloc1978 says:

guillem balague saying on twitter de gea has agreed to join united in the summer we shall see. great performance tonight giggs, carrick and rooney were class and hernandez what a little star he is priceless! come on united lets keep marching on!

  351. smartalex says:

Nothing like a limp leg end.

  352. fergie is the boss says:

Stepover16 – I can see united sighing de gea and schneider has the form of carrick has got fergie looking for attacking options and someone to replace VDS

  353. willierednut says:

smartalex – Any reaction from the boss? You’re our roving reporter.

carloc1978 – That’s the rumors mate. Looks like, he’s the one.

  354. fergie is the boss says:

willierednut – I can see de gea and schneider signed has our only transfer activity

  355. GLAZERS---OUT!!!!! says:

BEST MANCHESTER UNITED MATCH I HAVE SEEN ALL SEASON.

  356. carloc1978 says:

willierednut says- yes mate looking like de gea is going to be the man looks a great prospect big gloves to fill though edwin at 40 still the best around. when he came out and got the ball off anelka was top keeping he will be missed so much!

  357. fergie is the boss says:

how tall is de gea and willer where you hear the rumor de gea united rumor?

  358. smartalex says:

willierednut, nothing yet on SAF, but the goals are up at busbyway.
    http://TheBusbyWay.com/2011/04/12/video-goals-hernandez-park-send-united-into-the-cl-semi-final/

  359. DAVE RED says:

Well done Mike Carrick,, when Chelsea were having a decent spell in the first 20 mins,
you were outstanding, you are now getting back to your pre 2010 form.

  360. willierednut says:

FITB – You think we’ll sign Sneijder? Can you see Inter letting him go, because it would take a load money, me thinks.

  361. sandeep1878 says:

    GGMU..

the ever gree Ryan giggs and his inch perfect passes..what a scene!!

that was some brutal power by 3 Lung Park… Guys, hats off to Carrick, fuck his season, hez our top player in both legs of QF..

and also look at the determintion by RIO!!.. is it the right calf again? :( ..

we should start playing ROONEY in this midfield..

Chicha..OMG..his runs are like hez hunting the diamonds in the South african mud..

wat a clever pass by Oshea :) ..

EVRA, poor marking for Drogbaz goal, we cant afford it on any other day..

    my MOM Park..

BUT CREDIT TO THE TEAM, WE PLAYED MORE LIKE A TEAM TODAY, CONTRIBUTION FROM EVERY DAMN PLAYER..

  362. sandeep1878 says:

the press, the pundits and Lionel Messi can go to hell for writing us off..

never ever write UTD off, we coming to get you, be ready

    GGMU

  363. fergie is the boss says:

willierednut – The thing is, there seems to be some sort of formation change and style of play, I look where giggs is playing and its simuler to how schneider plays, very small clever player and has the ability to run through the middle like giggs does, if not wesley I do think we should put a bid in for kaka who could actually be cheaper. But fergie is looking for a clever dribblingf central player like giggs is now

  364. fergie is the boss says:

dont forget we have seen this in 2006 etc where he introudeces new players or looking for anew direction on how united play, at the minute now its rooney and hernandes interchanging with nani giggs and valencia or park

  365. willierednut says:

FITB – Nothing confirmed yet, but according to some on twitter, Athletico have accepted our offer for him and it’s now up to the player, to agree personal terms.

    smartalex – Cheers mate.

  366. fergie is the boss says:

willierednut – really, always found bufon would have bene better has he is more experienced. Still someone at 20 is still a bit young for a change has he is still inexperienced. Also what is the fee if its true

  367. jellybean says:

@ Costas I have a funny feeling King Eric is responsible for their disappearances. He’s like RoM’s very own Dexter, specializes in cyber trolls.

Also what’s with this perception that Utd have no flair or lack fantasy? For fucks sake, we have full backs who dribble past other defenses like they’re orange cones, 37 yr olds who can leave you with twisted blood, and I challenge anyone to find a trickier winger than Nani. All our strikers certainly have more than a few tricks up their sleeves and even Rio and Smalling, who (if Spanish or Brazillian) would be ooh-aahed over by the pundits who jizz everytime they catch a glimpse of Sideshow Bob.

I hope all the other teams keep underestimating this team. They quite enjoy proving the doubters wrong.

  368. smartalex says:

Ryan Giggs after the game. you tube 2:33 minutes
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L31c1XMa3Js

  369. willierednut says:

FITB – Just heard reports there, Athletico are denying any deal. Still seems a rumor ATM. Buffon is a great keeper, but would he leave Juventus? Not sure, he would.

  370. Chaosred says:

a few good games from carrick in 2 year is not gonna change my mind about him, i want him to play like this all the time.

  371. smartalex says:

Sir Alex after the game. you tube 3:24 minutes (Sky interview)
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IAXshmfh6WI

  372. fergie is the boss says:

willierednut – probably not, balague thinks he is off to united remember torres LOLS, still it seems strange he would leave atletico at 20 esp he is spanish

  373. Red Crow says:

Man i feel bad for not missing Berbatov.. The Pea has fire in his blood!!!

  374. slim says:

forgot to give a shout put to John O’shea, his pass to giggs was sublime and he put in a good shift for us,keep it up JOS

  375. FletchTHEMAN says:

smartalex. Cheersmate. Didn’t realize your post has links to the goals as well.

    On On Manchester UNITED.
    GET STUCK IN!!!!!

  376. jellybean says:

@ slim- you’re right. In fact Sheasy’s long passes were quite good all game, normally when he hoofs it front, I tend to groan, but a lot of them today actually found their man.

@ chaosred- it’s been more than a few good games. he’s been quietly impressive for a while now. look where he plays, it’s his job to shield the defense- a job which he does excellently. which is why the only time most people notice him is when he gives away the ball or a freekick. no doubt his form took a kicking after that final in Rome, but he’s been immense for a while now.

  377. smartalex says:

Cheers FletchTHEMAN! Options and alternatives are always good.

    Come on United!

  378. Mattbw7 says:

Wow, just thought I’d post a quick comment, having just got the laptop off the Mrs, whos a bit cheesed cos I’m watching the recording of the match after having got back. What to say great atmosphere but what you expect, put to bed now, next game, next oppenent, The Red Army marches on.

  379. TheRadLegion says:

According to Guillem Balague, Madrid accepted offer from United for De Gea and he agreed. Very exciting but sad at the same time with VDS leaving

  380. willierednut says:

Athletico have denied it. Arsenal are also being linked to De Gea.

  381. McQueen says:

hammons – yeah I could’ve gone on and mentioned Rio, and also JOS too, they were both solid, but I had to draw a line somewhere lol

fitb – yeah he certainly makes a difference, stops defenses pushing up and closing the gap between midfield which allows rooney more space. It’s a real shame for Berba because he’s played so well :( but you can see why Fergie has done it. There’s no reason why Hernandez and Berba can’t do a similar thing, but Rooney is now justifying his starting place so Berba seems destined to be used sparingly

  382. smartalex says:

    Sir Alex after the game:

“The whole team have played with great credit. It was a very tough game, Chelsea played well for a lot of the game and we played well for most of it too. We had two teams picked tonight, hopefully I picked the right one. The other option was to play Park [Ji-Sung] in Wayne’s position and put Wayne up front and leave [Javier Hernández] out. But that’s where you get luck, because he scored the first goal.

“We’ve said it so many times; Ryan Giggs is incredible, a unique person and player. He made a big contribution to the goal in the first game, and tonight. He had a part in the second goal too. So it’s a great contribution and his experience and composure were vital. He’s lucky he’s got the physique, he doesn’t carry any weight and never has. He’s always had great balance and he’s never lost that; he looks after himself – he has to. To play until 37 years of age, it must be a tremendous sacrifice.

“I think for quite a while [Rooney's] been playing well. He’s enjoying the position he’s playing because it’s giving him a lot of freedom to use his energy, and in that position you do need that. I’ll watch the semi-final tomorrow night. Schalke should get through really, but it’s still interesting to watch and you never know; football is strange. But I would think Schalke should get through.”

  383. fergie is the boss says:

McQueen – I have never been convinced rooney and berbatov are a right partnership, berbatov plays in rooneys position off the front man, and it takles away rooneys game if he is playing has the main front guy. Despite berbs best season, rooney seems to be the player that burst onto the scene 5 to 7 years ago which is playing off the front man in the hole, I hope we keep berbs but rooney and chico have this telepathic link now. Berbs and chico can also play together, but you can see plain has daylight rooney and chico is the way forward in the future. It has been frustrating that rooney has been taken out of his best position, in the hole when we had tevez and then berbs, gd players but they were never a right fit for rooney, chico has defiantly brought the old and exciting rooney of old out of his coma

  384. willierednut says:

At least we can get a good look at Neuer. I’m confident, we’ll beat Schalke, but I hope the lads don’t take the Germans for granted. That’s barring a miracle comeback for Inter, of course.

  385. smartalex says:

    Carlo Ancelotti, Chelsea manager:
“We’re out of the Champions League, this is not good for us. We are disappointed, but this is football. We have to be able to look forward because we have other games to play and to win if possible, because obviously every one of us wants to play in the Champions League next season.”

  386. smartalex says:

    Inter are buried.

  387. fergie is the boss says:

willierednut – fergie will remind the guys what happened with leverkusen in 2002, are we away first or home never checked it out

  388. FletchTHEMAN says:

SKY: What did you think was the difference today.
    Ancelloti: We didn’t score
SKY: Given that you had chances, was it harder?.
Ancelloti: Our performance wasn’t so bad, but Manchester United deserved to win.

This guy has class at times. Definatly has to hurt but important to have perspective and not allow these sympering reporters to stir up controversy where there isn’t any.

  389. GoatinaUnitedShirt says:

DeGea rumours I hope are false as a tandem of Lindegaard and DeGea is just not experienced enough for Manchester United fullstop

  390. willierednut says:

Is Ancelloti close to receiving his pea 45? Get It.

  391. Zibbie says:

Spot on SAF!!!!!!!!!!!!! “I think for quite a while [Rooney's] been playing well. He’s enjoying the position he’s playing because it’s giving him a lot of freedom to use his energy, and in that position you do need that.” FUCKING YYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  392. GoatinaUnitedShirt says:

    fergie is the boss
yeah dont forget Dortmund, dont forget 99 when in the group stages we only drew with Bayern and of course dont forget the final. two set plays and an element of luck. i hate playing the germans.

  393. FletchTHEMAN says:

@Goat, I am thinking if we get DeGae, then we might go on and get 2. AAAAhhhhhhhh now……… The plot thickens! Lindegard as #3, DeGae to duke it out with ??? Maybe an older hand will be brought in who wouldn’t mind being backup IF he had a shot at some silverware.

Message to the FA, Oh do shut up!

In Sir Alex I trust! Great win lads and lasses. Off for a night cap and more of that beauty sleep.

  394. willierednut says:

If Fergie signs De Gea, that’ll do for me.

  395. Costas says:

I felt for Ancelotti when I watched him after the game. Imo he is too nice to be at that cesspool and deal with the crap Roman is putting him through.

Anyway, Rio is at it again! From his twitter:

    rioferdy5
“Heard a load of #stayonyourfeet shouts tonight at the game….had to have a lil chuckle!! Love iiiiiit!”

    rioferdy5
“Got a bang on my knee early in the game but the saying #stayonyourfeet helped push me through tweeps!!”

Lol, he is obsessed with Wilkins’ line. Although I admit that I shouted stay on your feet to my tv everytime it showed Rio limping around. But credit to the lad for completing the game. He is a real leader.

    FletchTHEMAN
Good idea but I cant see Sir Alex putting a 25 million pound goalkeeper on the bench. If it was up to me Id sign DeGea and loan him back out to Athletico basically to tie him up before someone else nabs him and its not always easy to know what your getting with a keeper. Remember a name doesnt always mean anything. Lehman was a flop despite being Germany No1, Barthez was a flop despite being world and European champion as well as Frances No1. De Gea in my opinion is nowhere near what we are looking for BUT he is young so who knows. If Fergies keen then I trust his judgement but I wouldnt trust his judgement if it meant throwing him straight into the first team against the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal, Bayern Inter …… next season. NO WAY.
I would then sign Adler as well and give him the first go at being No1, he atleast has international experience. Neuer is alot of peoples favourite but he reminds me too much of Grobelaar.

  403. Costas says:

    @willie

Hey, if it means motivating Rio to stay fit, I am glad for the stay on your feet catchphrase. :D

Ashley Young is not too bad mate. We could do worse and go for Gareth Bale. Who needs him when you have a 37 year old Ryan Giggs putting him to shame?

  404. Doghouse says:

What’s so good about Ancelott then? I mean I kind of like him because he looks like Fred Flintstone, but is there anything particular makes him a nice bloke?

  405. dannysoya says:

We do not need Ashley young. We have THREE superb wingers , Nani , Tony V , Park. why in the world would Fergie be looking for yet ANOTHER winger? What we need is steel in the middle. If Carrick played like this all season and if Fletcher was at his usual best then we wouldn’t need anyone but unfortunately they aren’t. Just TWO signing will do. A playmaker and a Goalkeeper and we are good for next season.

In the meantime , we are still in the season and our next game is another massive one against the noisy neighbours. I am quietly confident because all players who played tonight with the exception of Rooney will be available for saturday and if we put in another wonderful performance ( which i know we will by God’s grace) , then we will beat city. COME ON UNITED!!! WE ARE BEHIND YOU ALL THE WAY!!!!

  406. smartalex says:

  414. torontored says:

Arise Sir Ryan what a fucking game!!!!!

Rooney again now shows why he should play deep – keep the lad involved and is he not the second coming?

Carrick – cool, calm, collected and put the boot in a few times.

Chicarito – you fucking beauty – hard as a Mex boxer and fit as fuck. Also can score a goal or two

    Overall – better than decent.

And even better the RENT BOYS say ta ta before the final. Russian slimy bastards.

Now let’s not bottle it v The Germans

Will add one comment – like that Ramires – said in The World Cup we should have gone for him.

If we win the Champions League this year Giggs and Scholes (I consider him a winner in 99 even though he missed the final) will have won it in three different decades, quite simply absolute legends and a credit to themselves, Manchester United and the game of football as a whole. I add Edwin to that list as well although admitedly he won’t have won them all with United, the longevity, passion and class of those guys beggars belief all class acts and i’m proud to say they play for my club. We were excellent all over the pitch particularly park, carrick, rooney and giggs. Not to mention nani and the back four. The only weak link first half was sheasy but that was soon remedied. A fantastic night.

Was it me or was the clock smaller tonight? Could barely read the time.

    The red machine kicks on.

    UNITED.

  422. torontored says:

And don’t this say it all – from The Irish Examiner

The same could not be said of Ancelotti, no matter what the Italian had said on the eve of the game, how relaxed he claimed to be.

Sitting 30 yards behind him was Roman Abramovich and as the night wore on, the Russian must have found himself questioning what the hell he was doing here and where all his money has gone.

Nearby was David May, a player he has probably never heard of and would certainly never have been interested in signing but the centre-back from Lancashire has something Abramovich has not.

Almost eight years since he started pumping hundreds of millions of roubles into Stamford Bridge with the initial influx of Hernan Crespo, Adrian Mutu, Damien Duff and Juan Sebastian Veron, there is still no Champions League trophy on the shelf.

Arguably they are no closer than when he started. Abramovich must be wondering where it went wrong. All of those green-light phone-calls and money transfers, the excitement at the big signings, has still amounted to nothing as far as he is concerned, with last season’s Double a distant memory. It seems the more Chelsea want it, the more they are paralysed by the fear of not getting it. The chase of that ultimate, what Ferguson described as ‘the best feeling in the world’ before the match, has only brought them pain upon pain, year after year.

Misery in the rain in Moscow, to bashings on Merseyside to a sense of raging injustice against Barcelona and Inter Milan and here was yet another chapter.

Just a glance at the team-sheet spoke volumes.

Would John O’Shea, Rio Ferdinand, Michael Carrick, Ji-Sung Park, Ryan Giggs or Javier Hernandez prick the interest at Stamford Bridge if it became clear they were available for transfer?

Absolutely not, but here they were, doing their job, keeping their shape, running themselves into the ground for the cause.

Chelsea may have cost hundreds of millions to assemble but they seem to lack something United and Ferguson can take for granted. Even when they had it under Jose Mourinho, they still could not take that extra step.

The Londoners are a team built to play one way, they lack the pace of old and, although they did come from behind to beat United in the Premier League at home, they are not a side that looks dangerous chasing a game.

When Hernandez, a £7m signing last summer, touched in from close range from a Giggs cross with 42 minutes gone, it looked like it would be game over.

And as Abramovich appeared for the second half, what must he made of the news that Fernando Torres, the player he stumped up £50m for three months ago, had been withdrawn for Didier Drogba, a player he must expect to be on his way in the summer?

He allowed his chin to rest on his hand as Ramires trudged off following his red card for a second foul on Nani. All that money.

There was still more cruelty to come as Drogba’s goal gave them hope, only for Park to restore the two-goal lead a minute later.

The United fans have made a habit of singing ‘One more year’ in an attempt to get Edwin van der Sar to rethink his plan to retire but the tune was ringing in Chelsea ears once again. Another summer will pass, Frank Lampard is approaching 33, John Terry over 30, when September comes around again, will they really believe it can be their year?

Cocky i certainly am in the ability of “The Man From Govan” – UNITED194/12

  424. King Eric says:

    Shit forgot to mention hernandez.

Anyway after a great night like this let’s just enjoy it. No need to talk about transfers till the summer. Let’s just get on with the players we DO have. Anyway I keep changing my mind. Rodwell would bring nowt to united. Much like ashley young. I mean can anyone honestly imagine young putting in the sort of shift we saw tonight.

I love lou macari BUT I really wish he would stop licking barca s arse. We can beat anyone at the minute. Do you think barca want to meet us? No do they fuck. Also it seems to be fashionable for folk like redknap to bang the dagos trumpet. A way of having a veiled dig at united. Bring the fuckers on I say.

  425. denton davey says:

King Eric @ 1:39: ” forgot to mention hernandez.”

It really must be well past your bedtime. I mean – really ! – how could you “forget” Hernandez ? Two chances – two in the back of the net (one harshly adjudged to be off-sides). Again, his movement stretched the RentBoyz and his finishing was clinical.

What a beauty ! And, what’s most amazing to me is that all he really does is score goals. HIs actual skills are vastly inferior to, say, Dimmy but his nose for goal is phenomenal.

A couple of days ago I wrote a long convoluted post about how the inclusion of Chicharito into the first-team has “liberated” WayneBoy – who was simply magnificent tonight – by giving him the freedom to play in that attacking midfield role that best suits his talents and termprament.

What Chicharito gives to this UTD team is a “verticality” that has been lacking. I don’t want to raise hackles by bringing up the square peg/round hole discussion surrounding DimitarBerbatov but – to me, at least – it’s easy to see why Chicharito is being given the nod. He won’t play in every game – no one will – but when he does play then the speed of play is raised; he also gets the best out of WayneBoy as well as Nani and Tony Valencia.

There’s something deeply-ironic in all this because the formation that SAF is now using is so reminiscent of LiverPoo under the FSW in the spring of 2009 – 4-2-3-1: two holding midfielders, three attacking midfielders, and a zephyr leading the line. Of course, the personnel are very different but the tactical set-up is the same.

“Do you think barca want to meet us?” Actually, they can only meet UTD in the CL final so I’d imagine that they’d be happy to do so, not least because it would mean beating TheVirus in the semi-final. Those two teams are scheduled to play four times – four times ! – in the last two weeks of April/early May so there is going to be a huge incentive to put down a marker for both of them – and, don’t forget that the Catalans just hate, loathe, and detest Maureen for the semi-final “humiliation” last year ! There could be a bloodbath and I hope that the victor will be spoiled with a couple/three red cards which will hamstring them for the final. Sweet revenge for 2009 !

  429. StatesideAussie says:

    Great game, just terrific.

I do feel for Berbatov. Delighted with Hernandez, but still feel for The Berb. I guess I don’t quite share Denton’s fervor about the Rooney/Hernandez partnership. I don’t, for example, think that Rooney’s late-season rejuvenation is entirely or even mostly down to him being partnered with Hernandez. They played together earlier in the season, as I recall, and Rooney was crap back then. I think it’s much more likely that Wazza is simply coming out of his long, long slump. About time, too.

But certainly, come summer, it will be interesting to see where this leaves Berbatov. The club has an option to extend his contract for another year without renegotiating. But a lot of people seem to believe he has become our third-choice striker, to be used only when Rooney and Hernandez are injured or need a rest. If that’s true, then I wouldn’t blame him if he wanted away. The guy’s probably got only a few years left and no doubt wants to make the most of them. He has said he wants to see out his career here, and I thought he was genuine about that. But I am also guessing that when he said that, he didn’t envisage a life on the bench.

Don’t get me wrong. Sport at the elite level is a dog-eat-dog world — because it has to be. In particular, I have no problem with any decisions that SAF wants to make — the welfare and success of our club is his responsibility alone and there’s no-one I’d rather have doing it. If he believes it’s the right thing to do, then I would never second guess that.

Doesn’t mean I couldn’t feel sad about it, if he left. The Pea is sensational and we all know about Rooney. But I for one will never, ever tire of watching The Berb weave his magic. Hopefully SAF will be able to keep everyone happy and I’ll be able to enjoy that magic for another few years.

  430. Singh says:

    @StatesideAussie
I echo the same sentiments pal. Im a massive Berba fan and i really wanted him to start this game. He’s been on the bench for i think 6 of the last 7 games and on top of that,he’s the top scorer,i just hope this benchtime doesnt make him ponder about the future…

  431. Jeet says:

Brilliant, absolutely top night! OT was rocking all night and the lads played their hearts out. MoM for me was Park, followed closely by Carrick. Because of these two, the blue cunts had to work so hard for the ball, that they ran out of steam after 30 minutes. They started very brightly, fast and with some penetration, but they just didnt have the engine to go on at that pace for more than 30 minutes, and the credit goes largely to those two. Overall, fantastic team performance – in the end, it turned out to be an easy win. 2-1 up with 15 minutes to play, you expect a lot of pressure, nervous defending and the works. None of that happened – we were in total control. I am sure that’s also due to the sending off, but yeah, boy, did I get a buzz when the red card happened!! I hate that cunt Ramires, he is a dirty sort of player and it was great to see a ref with the balls to stick it to him!

    Next….

  432. StatesideAussie says:

@singh … The Berb may well finish the season as the club’s leading scorer, the league’s leading scorer, and the man most obviously deserving of credit for #19. And for me this year, nothing beats that. Yeah, the domestic double would be nice. The Treble would be fantastic. But if I had to choose just one, it would be Number 19. And while winning a league (or anything) will always be a team effort, and a squad effort, I think it’s fair to say that without The Berb this year, we wouldn’t be on course for Number 19 right now. And I am sure that SAF recognizes that, and values it. And so would The Berb and the entire squad. But to a lot of other jackasses, he’ll still be seen as a flop, a failure whose greatest contribution to our club would be to leave it. And that hurts.

  433. Kings says:

King Eric – Hello mate. United keep marching on. That’s the first time I have seen a response as quick as that in years after seeing Park scoring immediately after Drogba scored. What a great player he is for us, never lets us down and always scores in the big games. And as for Hernandez, what a great piece of business, getting him in before the start of last years World cup. You said Terry was a source of amusement, but what about Torres mate? The vermin must be pissing themselves laughing at getting £50m for that tranny cunt. He’s done fuck all in the last year and a half. Dr Evil was almost in tears for the half a girl half a boy, hoping he would get a goal soon, one of his backside he said. The only thing that will come in contact with Torres backside is Terrys cock in the showers, fucking drag act, Bruno look a like cunt. Redknapp’s a fucking cunt, writing us off. Had Chelsea won, he would tip them to win it as for some reason, him like all the others think that they are the only side to have the measure of them. Then again, what do you expect from these jealous ABU cunts. Cannot wait for Saturday. Still have a feeling that horrible little troll will be available. My 9 yr old son actually took a picture of him scoring his first goal for United. It is and will remain a special memory between he and I as we follow Chicharito’s rise to stardom.

What can you say about Sir Ryan Giggs? Absolutely nothing, because words cannot describe what a wonderful player he is!

Great post about the Berb. Sums up how I feel too. I don’t know if he is 3rd choice now, but Chelsea couldn’t live with Chicha’s pace. But we still have a long way to go and it’s a squad game. His time will come. As for the summer, that’s a different story.

  444. WHAT ??? says:

For about 60 seconds the Line Up had me worried then I remembered why Alex is the HANNIBAL of Football. Shevspentloads Mach II (AKA the Lady) was always gonna start , but apart from him, Alex expected Chelsea’s strongest hand with Drogba up the sleeve. Honestly would’ve been happy goalless at half time knowing Valencia was on the bench we were getting a firm grip on the game, but Park, Nani, Carrick and Giggsy were too much class in the middle with Roo dropping deep. Hernandez was surely onside for the first, doesn’t there have to be daylight between players or is that just Punditry Gospel? Laughed when they claimed “it was in fact his head that was off side” – thats a first for me, how does that tally with benefit of the doubt? ;) Cracking header.

All in all our class was the difference. The goals speak for themselves including Drogba’s, but over the two legs we showed the rent boys what GRINDING big result looks like. Professional, Tight, Dangerous. Our defence was pure class, take a bow RIO. Injuries aside he’s still the Best Centre Back around once he’s on that pitch. Talks shit on Twitter, laughs with Knights in press conferences and backs it all up on the pitch without an Armband. The Dogs Bollocks. Vidic was and has been immense all season but he misses Rio’s experience on big nights like these. Drogba’s control was good enough to beat anybody inc Vidic and Evra, but otherwise I thought we contained every threat Chelsea posed brilliantly.

Speaking of Evra he’s been regaining his form game by game, certainly had an improved performance last night, covered loads of ground and spent lots of time in the final third. O’Shea put in a really solid performance as well once he settled and got forward often. What the fuck more can you say? Highly fucking satisfying stuff. Rooney put in a top shift. We deserved the win and we got it. Berbatov and Anderson will be hungry for Cup action on Saturday but with everybody available at this stage I give up predicting Line Ups, didn’t see todays coming at all but once it sunk in I saw the game plan a mile off, and our boys exceeded it. Brilliant performance and we played with a real fucking swagger too. Loved it.

Don’t forget that he is quoted as responding to the question “What’s the best part of being a UTD player ?” by saying “Being a UTD player.”

Dimmy has been his country’s best player, he’s been a star at Bayer Leverkusen and at Tottenham but it’s only at UTD that he has been part of a trophy-winning squad.

Some things are priceless. Maybe he’s that rare athlete who knows what that means, over and above his own ego-gratification.

  446. denton davey says:

What ??? @ 8:09: “Speaking of Evra he’s been regaining his form game by game, certainly had an improved performance last night, covered loads of ground and spent lots of time in the final third.”

Yeah, but – he was out of position on the Drogba goal, just like he was on the Luiz goal at Stamford Bridge earlier in the EPL season. On both occasions he fell for a “sucker punch” and took a fatal first-step inside rather than sticking to his wide, outside left position. Doing that once is careless, doing that twice …..

  447. StatesideAussie says:

@Zibbie … sorry to hear about your bad times. As for Rooney, well, whenever he came out of his slump, it still took a long, long time. Look, I was one of the first here to stop crucifying the guy over what happened in October, partly because I think that he was probably manipulated by his agent (who, almost be definition, has to be pretty good at manipulating people). So I don’t think I need to give Rooney any props, thanks. IMO, Sir Alex cut Rooney much more slack than he has done for other players, not just over the contract issue, but over the amount of playing time Wazza got when he was so totally out of form that he was virtually a liability. The player who probably suffered most, at least directly, was Hernandez. Given that Berbatov was in blazing form at that time, Hernandez really should have been on the field with Berbatov instead of Rooney for many of those matches.

  448. StatesideAussie says:

Denton … I wasn’t saying Berbatov will leave or should leave. I was saying that I would understand it if that was what he decided. Another possibility is that he’ll stay — I do think that’s more likely.

I think that SAF has developed our squad into a “team for all seasons” — one that can play in many different formations and styles depending on the nature of the opposition and the needs of the moment. While I find the sort of football we played yesterday, with Rooney rampaging through the hole and Chicharito causing all sorts of mayhem, I don’t think that’s the most effective way to approach a lot of PL matches, where teams park the bus. Yet I see winning those matches as critical to our continued success in the league — and I see The Berb as our most lethal attacking weapon for those matches.

It’s just my opinion, of course, and others may see it differently. But as I said, we are a “team for all seasons”, a squad with multiple dimensions. To me, that is an immensely valuable (and possibly unique) quality for a major football powerhouse, and I see The Berb as being an essential ingredient to that. Without him, our tactical and stylistic options would be greatly reduced — we would be much more one-dimensional (just like other teams are), and thus, much less effective.

  449. StatesideAussie says:

@zibbie, oops, I misread one of your posts (well, it was first thing in the morning here!). You said “Good to see you give him (Rooney) some props.” I somehow thought you said I should give him some props, and responded to that. My bad. Cheers.

  450. denton davey says:

StateSideAussie – “a team for all seasons”. Yeah, it’s a squad game nowadays and the ability to mix-and-match is a key element in surviving a long, long season so that TheLads are fresh in SqueakyBumTime. Contrast UTD’s mental strength in these two CL ties with the obvious burn-out from the RentBoyz’ key, core players (Cech, Terry, Lampard, Essien, Drogba).

  451. Anti says:

    A final, against Barca/RM, would be a dream !

  452. StatesideAussie says:

@Denton, right, though I take it further. It’s not just about surviving a long, grueling season, it’s about having a variety of options to deal with the different types of challenges we face along the way. This is where SAF has taken the whole notion of ‘squad rotation’ to a whole new level — because even when other managers build a squad with depth, they are still mostly doing so in order to support their chosen style of play. Whereas with us right now, we have a squad that can play in many different ways, depending on the need.

And the Rooney/Hernandez/Berbatov thing is a great example of that. If someone asked me, (a) how do I rank those three from top to bottom — who’s the best?; and (b) what combination of those three represents our best or number one or preferred starting choice, then I don’t think I could answer that without asking, “Who are we playing against?”. Because depending on that, my answers to those other two questions would probably be different. Cheers!

I can’t believe people are still calling for Berba’s head! The guy is phenomenal! He does things that other professionals can probably only dream of. Im guessing the people who hate him are all FIFA kids who attribute talent to only being pacey and quick, and thats it. His ability to hold the ball, and make the eagle-eyed pass is fantastic and that in itself causes immense pressure on defences.

I really hope he stays with us until he retires Hopefully he doesn’t get disheartened by the amount of time he has spent on the bench :S
