I obviously agree that coming “out with idiot cunt, go support city without offering any sort of footballing input whatsoever” hardly carries any weight in a discussion. It does however, serve to highlight that an extremely sensitive nerve has been jabbed. What ‘touchy subject’ might that be? I’d say that your string of comments decrying Sir Alex’ ability to bring through youngsters, select a team and run a squad of players; and your negativity about Fletcher, O’Shea and Bebe; are the likely catalyst. Especially when you consider that your comments were not presented in a balanced, fair and supportive manner; and you are amongst thousands of avid United fans.

You claim not to care about the angry feelings expressed, yet that is not accurate. You do care. The reason you are able to truthfully say that you don’t care, is because of the rude manner in which they were expressed. In other words, you won’t care about a someone who rudely attacks you. Okay, but don’t let that cloud the real issue.

It is upsetting to read comments that are rude about Sir Alex, especially when they could so easily have been worded in a more respectful manner. It is not that you disagree with SAF that upsets reds, it is that you appear not to respect him.

ps I cannot help but feel disappointed that we lost tonight. We do experience a little sadness at United, but not much, and it is tempered by the barrel-loads of joy we all receive.

  2. Johnny Stavros says:

When I write I write with emotion, and if people perceive that as disrespectful then I can’t help them, I was mad at the team selection which in the end has proven to be our downfall today, but I get what you are saying.

  3. smartalex says:

You do write with emotion. Thank God!

There predictably are a lot of absorb-and-regurgitate comments on any football blog, especially one as filled with luminaries as RoM. It is a natural reflection of lessons learned and necessary to complete a person’s learning process. However, it is tedious!

Of course, being emotional inspires emotions, including the unpleasant ones.

To be transparent, I was relieved to see that you had been pulled up, for I too got a little emotional, and might easily have over-reacted had that approach not already been covered!
    Lucky me!

Most clubs don’t have a manager long enough or special enough to fall in love with. They have the advantage of being fair when criticising, and even lampooning their boss. We don’t receive that somewhat dubious privilege. We get other perks, like shouting ‘NINETEEN’

  4. Jamaican Red Devil says:

Reasonable comments from both Johnny Starvos and Smart Alex, but I’m gutted by this defeat.

Ps. Pogba looks a real classy player

  5. smartalex says:

Jamaican Red Devil – ‘Johnny Starvos’ ?

Sounds like he’s got the munchies!

  6. smartalex says:

    Perhaps he’s from Hungary.

Let’s hope he gets his just desserts and is fully fed on a couple of trophies this season, rather than fed up with some meagre fare.

  7. WillieRedNut says:

When I write, I write with emotion.

When I write, I do so with fingers! ;) A finger a fudge, you see. :)

  8. smartalex says:

It is the digital age, after all.

  9. smartalex says:

Yes, we can all agree that WillieRedNut has mastered the art of giving someone the finger.

  10. smartalex says:

On the other hand, manipulating manuscripts to point a white-knuckled fist that fingers a foolish fanatic loses hands-down to the helping hand of a handy thumbs up. I’ll keep my fingers crossed.

  11. Tgan says:

Our squad is terrible, no real class or strength in depth. Fergie needs to pull his finger out as Basle look tasty!!!!………………….Glazers out!!!!!!

  12. doe says:

Its so disappointing……! every team playing against united walks out of the dug out
with more morale than our own united….! i wonder how we will play in the last 16 of
the champions league…Can someone tell fergy there is alot of darkness in the end
    of the tunnel!

  13. Calvo says:

Can the following players please do themselves and everyone connected with Utd a favour and vacate the premises….NOW!!!
    Johnny “Timid” Evans
    Headless chicken Park
    Antonio “1 foot” Valencia
Darron ” I can shoot but do F*** all else” Gibson
    Mama ” Ba-doof” Diouf
…and anyone else that thinks they shud stay!!!!
NEVER have i seen such laughable and often embarrassing football from Utd…and this aint a knee-jerk reaction as its been PAINFULLY obvious for years that players like Gibson and Evans are NOT Utd quality (or are they as they seemed to played at the expense of better players!)
Sick of hearing players like Evans chatting in the papers and yet put in such sunday-football stuff…GET OUT and let some other club suffer!!!….
And Fergie has to take the blame for playing players like Diouf instead of Morrison from the start and Gibson instead of Pogba, I can take Utd losing if we had played Petrucci, Keane etc from the start but for most of the game we had “experienced” players like Park, Valencia etc playing and what the hell did they do?
They were given a chance to push their claim for a 1st team spot, well more like they played themselves outta the club!!!!
And everyone keeps talking abt getting revenge on Barcelona and matching the best!….do me a favour!!!!…dont get me wrong the future is bright for Utd but the present?

  14. smartalex says:

Calvo fires his salvo, but all he shoots is blanks.

Grace: simple elegance, refinement, courteous goodwill, an attractively polite manner.

Who’s ‘disgraceful’ now? It is Calvo who is ‘DISGRACEFUL!!!’
