  3. kenyan Red says:

Rooney!! Finally realisy check for him!!

  4. lawman10 says:

At last he has droped a unfit Wayne Rooney & Nani.
A good line up, i like the look of the midfield
    Come on United.

  5. samuel - united WE stand says:

Rooney getting a big kick up his backside, he’s not undropabe anymore. Better get his act together or he’ll warming that bench more.

  6. dannysoya LOVES USAIN BOLT says:

WOW Fergie actually did it. He DROPPED ROONEY. This might be a day to note down. Watch Rooney’s form skyrocket over the next few weeks. Good looking line-up too. COME ON BOYS!!! TIME TO WIN THIS!!!

Nani not even in the team. Fergie’s ruthless streak is back. DAMN. SAF is COLDDDD!!!!

  7. kenyan Red says:

Hop V.persie silences his critics today!!!

  8. Robbo says:

Could also mean rotation, as only 5 days since Everton.

  9. slim says:

What’s this I see. No Rooney. Maybe Saf has been on ROM lately

  10. jeet says:

    I like it!
Just hope one of our defenders gets back asap, ffs

  11. mwania mike says:

bravo SAF rooo and nani deserve it they need 2wks of fitness bring it fulham

  12. Red in Taipei says:

Red Robin to break his duck!

  13. Vidic says:

    Lets avv iiiiiT.

  14. Strik3rr says:

Just my luck, I go 2 weeks without finding a work and they book 2 jobs for me today, starting during the game :(

  15. samuel - united WE stand says:

Jeet – evans is on the bench i think?

  16. knightsmith says:

Well done on dropping Rooney, fantastic player , but he has looked so overweight and unfit recently, which is a disgrace and an insult to the fans, bearing in mind how much he gets paid, and if it’s true he smoke that is a disgrace also, he will never compete any more at the highest level if this is true.

It could be time to get shot, seems like it could be another Gasgoine in the making !

  17. TraffordLord says:

So all the reds that were screaming for Rooney to get dropped…the gaffer has obliged. Hope RVP and Kagawa have a blinder. So is this a tip of the hand on what the strategy going forward will be? Rooney or RVP, but not both together.

  18. Zibbie says:

    GO MAN UTD !!!!!!!!!

  19. hammed abiola f says:

The way to make them fight for their places in the team, respect to Fergie, give chicharito time too. where is buttner? kagawa2 Rvp2 young1= man utd 5 fulham 1

  20. caman67 says:

I love Rooney but dropping him can only be good for the team, the player and Fergie.
Now we have RVP, Rooney can be left on the bench and the team is not weakened.
Bad news for the opposition when Rooney gets back on the pitch

  21. Costas says:

There’s something that feels off everytime we start a game without Rooney and Nani. I know they didn’t play well on Monday, but I wouldn’t have axed both of them. It’s still the 2nd game of the season.

  22. Zibbie says:

Send Rooney to Oregon for a week!

  23. Marq says:

Based on form & fitness, if Rooney didn’t get dropped, what message does it send to Welbeck, Hernandez, Berbatov and even Henrique?

Finally for the first time in his career, Rooney gets some competition, hopefully he takes it the right way

  24. The Left Bank says:

I love Rooney and I would love to see him in tandem with RVP one day soon. But for this game SAF is right to drop him as he has looked out of sorts. I hope it’s a wake up call to the lad as I am sure it will be.

SAF also right to drop Nani even if he is better than Young by a mile.

Glad to see Cleverley and Ando in the CM roles. I hope they are given a good run barring any injuries. I think this is a big season for both of them given most fans have been screaming for a CM enforcer. Perhaps between them they will silence the doubters.

  25. TK99 says:

good line up but i would have opted to have Nani on the bench, even though he was awful on Monday.
I really hope that is not the Contract issue which resulted to nani being dropped , but the poor performance on Monday.

  26. LUHG says:

Pheeew!!! Valencia is not in right back !!!!!!!

  27. LUHG says:

Why not rooney and rvp together ???!!!

  28. RedBorneo says:

I’d rather Wotton than carrick.. why Fergie not given him chance to play ..?

  29. LUHG says:

anyway the season is so long ,then wait and see for the tandem !!!!

  30. samuel - united WE stand says:

I just hope carrick plays well, he’s the odd one out of that back-line.

  31. LUHG says:

    Come on UTD !!!!!!!

  32. Lee Martins Winner says:

anyone got any streams for the game?

  33. TraffordLord says:

Oh noticed the ginger prince is also not starting. This should be interesting.

  34. jay4manutd says:

I would still be very happy if rooney were to be dropped out of the match day squad,i just feel fergie hasn’t forgotten the whole ambition crap.rooney embarrased the club and the gaffer publicly.his performances since then isn’t even close to excellent, his goals cover those cracks.sorry to not see Nani though, hopefully he reacts well to this.good line up,let’s do this

  35. jay4manutd says:

Good to see rooney having a laugh on the bench though, nice team spirit.commonnnn

  36. Costas says:

    Yeah we won’t concede today…

  37. TraffordLord says:

Set piece Again…carrick foul, young on the ground, duff put it in.

  38. Costas says:

  41. Adamcy says:

Another rocky start to d game d lads need to step up

  42. Costas says:

  54. Vidic says:

HE SCORES WHEN HE WANTS !!

  55. Build a Bonfire says says:

    enjoy that one ceders

  56. Marq says:

Is it just me or is it Vidic’s hair? Vidic looks to have lost so much weight

  57. TraffordLord says:

Ha that why he ignored you the first time young…we are snapping into second gear. Keep it up lads.

  58. KingOfStretfordEnd says:

Oh RVP! You made me kiss the tv after such a long time :D

  59. Adamcy says:

Am really impressed with Kagawa distribution and overall gameplay

  60. TraffordLord says:

Dembele… Sign him up Fergie- solid player.

  61. Emyoueffsee says:

Valencia is our best player so far,by a long way too.Dembele is destroying Anderson and Cleverley.

  62. Costas says:

I must be watching this in reverse mirror mode. Valencia has crossed twice with his left.

  63. Adamcy says:

Some lovely skills from De gea

  64. Adamcy says:

    Kagawa Kagawa Kagawa

  65. Costas says:

Ha. The other new boy scores.

  66. Zibbie says:

    YYYYYYYYEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  67. LUHG says:

Good shot from cleverley too !!!

  68. TraffordLord says:

Kagawa scores on rebound…was onside too! 2 debut goals. What a stinger from Cleverley.

  69. Zibbie says:

I thought I saw a left footed cross!

  70. TraffordLord says:

Kagawa hits the post…3rd gear now.

  71. LUHG says:

    Cleverley is so good !!!!

  72. Costas says:

Rafa scores, Young the hero. ;)

  73. LUHG says:

This third is so good for the folowing of the game !!! Pheeew!!!!

  74. TraffordLord says:

Kagawa, Valencia, Cleverley, Rafael bossing it.

  75. Zibbie says:

Rafa looks a young man now!

  76. Marq says:

    Rafael + Valencia > Valencia + Nani

  77. Costas says:

Some very good football from United after the Fulham goal.

  78. Zibbie says:

    wow DDG!!!!!!

  79. Adamcy says:

Valencia raping shit down d right and young murdering dem left is united alk rovnd

  80. TraffordLord says:

Very intricate passing…easy on the eyes.

  81. Zibbie says:

Nice football, slick smooth and forward minded.

  82. TraffordLord says:

How did DDG keep out Fulhams second….brave heart.

  83. Vidic says:

Great response from United , maybe put on Rooney later ?

  84. Lee Martins Winner says:

    kagawa…. fucking class

  85. LUHG says:

Valencia is good but I think he doesn’t vary his skills enough, when he has the ball.

  86. dannysoya LOVES USAIN BOLT says:

RVP and Kagawa on the scoresheet. If that does not IGNITE Rooney, NOTHING else will. Let’s get Roo on an run this thing up. The back is still shaky maybe give Jonny a run out? I want to see a defense with FOUR defenders in it again. PHEW.

  87. Vidic says:

    De Gea > Cruyff

  88. Marq says:

Much more fluid play today. Anderson & Cleverley moving the ball much faster than when Scholes is in there. Rvp, apart from the goal, didn’t feature much, but who cares, Valencia, Kagawa and Rafael tearing up Fulham

  89. dannysoya LOVES USAIN BOLT says:

and isn’t Dembele beautiful to watch on the ball? Come on fergie one LAST try. :)

  90. orez says:

Great half. I didn’t see fulham goal but we have done afterwards. Great goal from RVP though

  91. Proverb says:

Great all round football by the lads
    Kagawa
What a gem we have, he makes everyone look great
Valencia rapping shit at the other side

    Over to you Rooney ;)

  92. Red Devil Canuck says:

Whooooo! What a goal by RVP! Kagawa’s looking good as well. Hopefully Buttner and Powell will start as well as those two have. :)
Valencia, Rafael, Cleverley, Anderson, I can continue… they’re all playing well.
Pleeeease let the second half be played like the end of the first half. So good to watch.

  93. Hans says:

Great work after a mighty scare. I think this team would have beaten Everton.

Dembele is a class act. He would be a great addition to United’s squad!!!

    Fergie sign him up!!!

  94. Zibbie says:

Costas, in the 4-2-3-1 set up for the wings they have less defensive space to cover then in a 4-5-1. In that in a 4-5-1 they have all wide defensive duties running all the way back more then the 4-2-3-1, so say Rooney on the left wing has more bump in run with Dembele in the 2/3′s up the pitch?

  95. bRed says:

Awesome display! Cleverly and Anderson obviously really like playing together.

Having said that, am I the only one who thinks Dembele’s pretty classy himself? Powerful with very good close control.

  96. Vidic says:

    More goals please .
    (remember last season)

  97. lawman10 says:

Kagawa, boy I am loving this fella!!

  98. D'GING€r PrinC€ says:

Nice 2 c Evra back.d Buttner signing surely woke him frm his slumber.

  99. Zibbie says:

Rafa Man Utd’s for as long as they want!

  100. AntiScouser says:

    De Gea > (Jordi) Cruyff?

  101. Zibbie says:

    Wow what a team.

  102. united.george says:

Great to see some shots on goal. with 64% possession, we need to keep creating chances…

You know with all the critisizm that evra gets, at least he does not get injured much….man is made of steel considering all the acrobatics he does on the field. I wish the others had his agility.

  103. Santa Claus says:

Dembele, would be a quality addition to our squad. Good on the ball, strong and big

  104. Georgejoseph says:

More like it ……… Rvp will be the first name on the te sheet this season

  105. Zibbie says:

I like how the bench is set up. SAF and his staff can be heard by Rooney and more.

  106. Ryan7 says:

Outside of the obvious standout performances, I’ve seen decent things from ando. A couple physical plays which is desperately needed, plus the dynamic of having a lefty. It’s well balanced with right footed clevs (seeing hints of scholes today) and a two footed Kagawa.

  107. iDon says:

Finally Fergie is playing the formation we screamed so many times, just one striker is perfect in this formation … let’s hit 3 more goals

  108. slim says:

The sky must have fallen. That’s two left footed crosses on the right by Tony V. And they were on target too. Let’s go on and finish this, last thing we need is a scare. I hope the gaffer drills the message on. Come in you Reds. Ground sounds rocking. Do fucking jealous

  109. Marq says:

The only way Dembele is coming is if we give up on Anderson

  110. iced earth says:

de gea cleverely kagawa top top top
dembele looks a very good player
anderson must work on his fitness he looks a bit fat
    love kagawa what a player

  111. GLory gLOry MAN U says:

Kagawa and RVP were too good. Loved De Gea’s trick one on one, that kid has balls.
    Man U were playing well!

  112. Zibbie says:

Kag’s will be a RED great! You know some where under legend

Now 3 , 4 more goals, no last year!!

  113. Vidic says:

We have to thank Hazard for not joining Manchester United :
    Hazard £32m < Kagawa £12m

  114. Proverb says:

    Now, the second half please!!!

    No mushy, mushy
We want the lads to remain fit for aslong, and watch us make the fool out of every opponent
Specially shity, they have to watch this
And be reminded of the 3-2

  115. Walata says:

Where do u all reckon Dembele would play if he were to come in.

  116. Georgejoseph says:

Kawaga is class … Great signing

  117. D'GING€r PrinC€ says:

De Gea!am sure haters wil be shiting themselves nw.

  118. Vidic says:

    Walata CF

  119. GLory gLOry MAN U says:

iced earth, i agree with you my fellow mancunian. Lets see how Man U perform in Champion’s Cup.
    GGMU!!

  120. Zibbie says:

SAF as a man manager is almost unmatched.

  121. TraffordLord says:

    @ Marq

You meant…the only way we get Dembele is to give up on Fletcher.

  122. Walata says:

    @ Vidic

    CF? As in centre forward?

  123. Costas says:

    @Zibbie

Maybe, but it also depends on the opposition. 4-2-3-1 usually means more interchanging from the front 4. And in games like this, we are allowed to do this. Against a stronger side, we might have been more disciplined. But it does look to be Fergie’s prefered system at the moment and looking at Kagawa, it’s hard to disagree.

  124. TraffordLord says:

Cleverley showing he is no mug in the middle, great hustle and interceptions.

  125. Ironbrand says:

Its almost easy to think Scholesy is on the pitch when watching Cleverly. Top lad. No doubt

  126. Ironbrand says:

In other news, I think Paddy Evra is having a good game, whatever that means

  127. redriderCH says:

good game…nice to see the new lads score…clevs great…new scholes…hopefully

  128. Costas says:

    Rooney 3rd choice. :P

  129. Eric keane says:

How the fuck did that go in?

  130. Costas says:

Oh dear. Surely not Everton revisited?

  131. TraffordLord says:

    Oh well…ffs

  132. KingOfStretfordEnd says:

    Oh come on ddg

  133. Redbilly says:

At least four lads are on the scoresheet ffs

    Come in united

  134. Capitano says:

Oh Vidic!, not his day today. “Come-on United, two more!”

  135. Hans says:

The story of last season, instead of killing team off, we are gifting them goals.

  136. TraffordLord says:

    Why is Kagawa being pulled??

  137. Costas says:

Fergie’s changes might open this up even more.

  138. knightsmith says:

Come on united, what the fuck is up with you !

  139. Georgejoseph says:

    We are living dangerously

  140. redriderCH says:

lets play roo all the time, just dont at goodison…

  141. TonyBee says:

have we bought any cunt yet..?

  142. Clint-Iamyourpapii says:

Kagawa should have stayed on and RVP should have been pulled off.

We’ll soon see if lessons have been learnt !

3-1 up dangerous scoreline now 3-2….our character will be tested here 4 months on !

  143. TonyBee says:

GLory gLOry MAN U…still acting the cunt i see with your username……

  144. knightsmith says:

what we need is some treble dead hard bastard in midfield !

  145. vadimpel says:

Pathetic second half!!! We only lost the championship last year by the slender margin of goal difference, here we have a team allowing us to attack yet we stopped! Why, why Sir Alex??? I don’t get our game for last 3 or 4 years!

  146. Vidic says:

    Yes Walata

  147. TonyBee says:

just started to watch this … been out …. Costas…what has Cleverley been playing like….?

  148. TraffordLord says:

Kagawa should have been left in, too many strikers on now.

  149. Costas says:

Dear Lord, Rafa could have had 2 hat tricks today!

  150. troutalan says:

Sick to my ballsack watching this…hanging on against Fulham…really??????

  151. TonyBee says:

    giggsy as well today….

  152. TraffordLord says:

These subs dont make sense to me

  153. Costas says:

    @Tony

He and Ando have had their problems with Dembele, but he’s looked good going forward. He’s even won the ball back 3-4 times.

  154. TraffordLord says:

What are we going to do with all these strikers and wingers??????

  155. Clint-Iamyourpapii says:

Ryan Giggs has been playing football since Danny Welbeck was concieved

  156. troutalan says:

Agreed, we’ve 1 central midfielder and he’s in fucking defence…..

  157. Red Robin says:

This is the type of a game where an opponent player who is linked to United play hisass out (I.e.: Dembele).

  158. Georgejoseph says:

    We gone very flat

  159. Marq says:

People asks how Dembele can improve us?

He certainly looks a better player than Anderson

  160. Eric keane says:

Common guys 7 mins.. Hold on now please.. Score with your arse forfuck sake, just not in our goal

  161. troutalan says:

I suppose we’ll bring on nani for degea next……….. I’m bemused!!!!!

  162. TonyBee says:

    COME ON YOU FUCKING REDS

  163. Never beaten only run out of time says:

sir Alex really has to bite the bullet and play one of the young centre halves.love carrick but its not his natural position and I think we get found out when he is in there

  164. dannysoya LOVES USAIN BOLT says:

FUCK’S SAKE. No urgency. Do they realize we are just one goal up? GET ANOTHER GOAL!!!!

Dembele is just BEGGING for us to sign him. What a performance from him.

  165. Eric keane says:

To be fair, anderson was good today.

  166. TonyBee says:

GIGGSY …WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT….

  167. Costas says:

The midfield will look a lot better defensively when Tom and Carrick team up.

  168. TonyBee says:

    SCHOLES ..GINGER PRINCE

    SIDWELL …..GINGER CUNT..HAHAHAHA

  169. TraffordLord says:

Anderson was great…the Rooney-Welbeck sub has to be one of the most pointless subs I have seen at Old Trafford.

  170. TonyBee says:

DeGea just punched that fucker miles…good job Vidic wasn’t there that time or else his head would have gone too…

  171. dannysoya LOVES USAIN BOLT says:

OMG Rooney’s leg. that’s an UGLY sight.

  172. Marq says:

Now Rooney will really be out, not a pretty sight with that big cut

  173. Proverb says:

    Your fucking cursed him
    I knew ;)

  174. Ryan7 says:

Rooney’s gashed up pretty bad. Not good.

  175. Costas says:

I agree Danny. His thighs look huge. What has he been eating? :P

  176. TonyBee says:

bit of Claret on Wazza…. that’s him out for a fortnight…..

  177. Red Robin says:

How many saves did De Gea havein this game? Shouldn’t be the same with our proper back four.

Come on you reds, hang in there ffs!

  178. samuel - united WE stand says:

    Insult to injury.

  179. Costas says:

Seriously though, lets hope it’s just a skin wound. Come back soon Wayne!

  180. Redbilly says:

Wazza crocked for a week or two ffs

  181. TraffordLord says:

A bad gash, and he didn’t even have to be on the field…Phelan I’m looking at you.

  182. TonyBee says:

ahh a few fucking stitches and he’ll be fine…..

  183. Redbilly says:

Do what a save by dave. Vid. Having a nightmare. Great goals mind . Very positive

  184. dannysoya LOVES USAIN BOLT says:

FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK. My heart was almost gone there. We REALLY need to improve. NO MORE CARRICK IN DEFENSE!!!! Please I beg you get him back in the midfield.

  185. TonyBee says:

have to agree with some on here…..we need a ass kicking midfielder….and rapid..

  186. orez says:

Great first half and really bad second. We need our defenders back and we need to get some hold of midfield. As many stated Kagawa was really good, RVP took his chance. Everyone had a decent game, but nobody had exceptional one.

  187. Red Devil Canuck says:

That looked like a decent sized hole in Rooney’s leg. Hope he’s not out too long but maybe this means that Chicharito will get a bit of playing time.

  188. Costas says:

Finally got the first win out of the way. Really need to work on the defensive side of things. No matter how good we are going forward, we won’t win every game 8-2. Had it not been for DDG, this would have been our worst start in Premiership history.

Vida still looks rusty imo and playing with Carrick doesn’t help. Could have done with a fit Rio. Lets hope he or Jonny are ready for Southampton.

  189. Marq says:

Our formation went out of the window the moment Kagawa went off, nobody picking up the ball to start the play.

Sir Alex really needs a good think about how to play Rooney, Rvp & Kagawa together. Why does Welbeck need to come on together with Rooney?

  190. Dela says:

Shaky second half. Sorta reeked of a United team not fully fit yet. DDG / Vidic mistake was very regretable, comee on guys! Still, 3-2, first 3 points and I’ll take them thank you!

  191. Costas says:

    @TonyBee at 16:59

Yeah it’s painfully obvious mate. Every attacking minded physical midfielder is getting the game of their lives against us right now.

  192. TonyBee says:

I cannot understand why SAF don’t blood another CB ….not as we haven’t got any young ones there ffs…..if they aint good enough to stand in …..what the fuck are they on our books for…..

Carrick needs restoring to the middle as soon as….

  193. TraffordLord says:

Coaching staff showing again they don’t know how to respond and change a game…the starters were magnificent, backline creaked but didn’t crack, we won that’s all that matters…but boy those substitutions reaked of amateurish FM.

  194. Georgejoseph says:

We need defenders back. Vidic looks very light weight

  195. Lee Martins Winner says:

    Reds lets have some balance

firstly and most important 3 points

second, good play at times and kagawa looks a fucking superstar.

DDG, playing well and thats a massive step up on this time last year.

    all iin all ok

  196. kucinghitam says:

    never ever take kagawa off..

  197. parryheid says:

    Three points ta very much.

  198. TonyBee says:

Bet its not the first time Rooney got gash from playing football.

  199. Hans says:

A win is a win, but this simply is not good enough for United! Instead of wining by 4 or 5 we are lucky not to drop points. After conceding the second we went totally flat.

yet again and again, our final pass and decision making in the final third let us down. with better decision making we could have scored another three goals (Rafael – not leaving it for Young in better position, Giggsy – poor cross with men in good positions and Welbeck – bad decision, should have palyed RvP at far post, all guilty parties in the second half).

The only positive about this is that it is early days left and hopefully Fergie will address this.

    Hoe Rooney gets well soon.

We could do with a player like Dembele. If I was Fergie, I would get Gill an do a deal with Fulham tonight (unless the lad want to fuck off to the fascist team).

  200. Emyoueffsee says:

Costas we lost our first 2 games of the 92/93 season.Sheffield united(a) and then Everton at home.Very disapointing second half from United after some great attacking play in the first. It’s hard to judge us though with Carrick playing CB,will be interesting to see how we look when he plays in midfield and evans/rio are back.Fulham will feel they should have nicked a point and I was impressed with them especially Dembele who was brilliant.Still we have 3 points and hopefully Rooneys injury heals quick but it looks like he could be out for a few games.

  201. EricCantonaToldMeToTweet says:

After the first goal, there is almost zero service to Van Persie.. why?

  202. dannysoya LOVES USAIN BOLT says:

Dembele was sent to us by God today to show us what we are lacking in the middle. We must listen to Him. SIGN DEMBELE.

  203. united.george says:

Vidic does look a lot thinner, his upper body strength is not like it was.

Really need evans back next week.

  204. Costas says:

    @Emyoueffsee

I know. It could have been just as bad. Or at least 1 point out of 6.

  205. Marlin says:

How low has Chico fallen with SAF? Welbeck picked ahead of him again–even for a subbing role, which is what the Mexican’s supposed specialty.

  206. TonyBee says:

off for now …Got Grandson Max with us this weekend…5 years old and already wearing Utd badges on his shirt…..

true story…Max and his Dad went into sport-shop to get him a football kit for football training ….Max was told he could choose anyone he wanted…. all teams shirts there plus international teams…….

    bless him….chose Manchester United straightaway…… TRUE RED…..

  207. Passe says:

We could do with one of those permacrock CBs back right about fucking now. Get Carrick back where he belongs. We looked disjointed after the substitutions… Saf has big decisions to make here. Rvp and kagawa up front should be the way forward now.

  208. Arthur "Two Sheds" Jackson says:

Dembele was brushing off Kagawa like a fly.

  209. Northwalesred says:

Most of the problems are the full backs not the central pairing, Rafa needs to watch some G Nev videos and Evra is a fucking liability every time he plays. Can’t blame Vidic for the second goal De Gea came for a ball he was never getting.

  210. TraffordLord says:

    @ kucingitam

Please tell that to Mr. Phelan…Jaysus, why don’t we gut our midfield at the same time Fulhams is reinforcing theirs. I know I don’t have the same amount of coaching badges but that was mind puzzlingly idiotic.

  211. iced earth says:

great win as i said before fulham are a good team
it was reported that we bid 5m£ i think he is worth 15m£ exellent player and better then anderson, ando is good going foward but his defensive duties and his physique are his weaknes
cleverely impressing so much great player if he stay injury free he will be one of the best in business
evra return to his level very good match.
despite his mistake de gea is world class,
rvp what fucking goal i am sure he will score many this year
kagawa is the buy of the summer top top lad
hope rooney is fine we must not forget that is one of our legands, and i am sure he will play a great part in our furure succes he is not finished yet

  212. Costas says:

If we played a regular CB in Carrick’s place that could improve things a bit, but the whole defending is suspect. The Kagawa sub turned it around because we could no longer have the large amount of possession before we did. I said it on Monday, but our opponents can open us up too easily.

  213. Georgejoseph says:

We look very light weight in the second half. We look like we can be out muscled by a more physical team

  214. Ironbrand says:

After two games, I don’t see anything to underline SAF’s statement about us not going to lose again on goal difference unless he means we won’t be vying for it at all. Beautiful 1st half but a clear lack of ambition is the second half. Our bane last season and to top it off, substitutions no one really understands. Whatever though, we are off and kicking for the season.

  215. MisterDavid says:

Don’t remember a signing slotting in as seamlessly as Kagawa. He makes other players look good.

Why would anyone ever sub him?

  216. RedRich says:

Kagawa excellent as was Tony. Ando a better game and also Raffa except when defending. Cleverley improved as the game went on.

Young disappointing, Vidic clearly nowhere yet near his best, Carrick just not a centre half.

Too many of our players easily eased off the ball.

Dembele best player on the field by a mile. Why can’t we sign him if he’s not going to Real Fascistica?

More worrying, with the money we put into scouting, how come we don’t find these players, with obvious value in the market?

  217. Ferane says:

Why always playing on the wing????? We are predictable and boring with this tactics!! And we will never make good use of RvP!! The guy looks alone and at times. Play the ball in the middle of the park by penetrating the defense and tearing the off. I have noted that whenever valencia gets the ball in the middle, he just know that he should get on the wing and deliver the ball in the box! But thats not modern football and would cost us a lot which bigger team!!!

  218. Costas says:

Rooney out for 4 weeks. So basically it will just be the Southampton game.

  219. Emyoueffsee says:

Anyone else have Rooney as captain in their Fantasy Prem. team?Horrible start to the season for him.He already looked sluggish that’s why I thought he’d start today but now he will not be able to train for a few weeks and with is penchant for pickled flavoured monster munch and Coca Cola he could be miles behind in terms of conditionong.

  220. xyz says:

Can never wait for STR to do his, so here’s mine instead!

Reactions to the Win against Fulham

    1. The debate about who should start on the right wing can now be put to bed. TV7 should now be the automatic starting right winger for United. He consistently demonstrates pace, power, crossing and shooting ability. He works hard providing cover for the right back and remains one of our most consistent performers. Whereas last season there was some arguement for starting Nani there due to our lack of creativity elsewhere on the pitch, the arrival of RVP, Kawaga etc have rendered that point redundant. Valencia must start there when fit.

    2. Kagawa has made an incredible start for United and already looks like he’s been playing in the team for years. He plays a role I have seen no one fill for us since the days of Cantona – that tricky, creative role between opposition defense and midfield. However there are a couple of points to note. Firstly, although he played well again today, I personally think he performed better against Everton. The reason for this? Paul Scholes. On a number of occasions today he made wonderfully clever runs and got into great positions but was not found. Scholes has the radar and passing ability to make best use of Kagawa. Anderson and Cleverly for now do not. The only negative I can see regarding Kagawa is that we are going to, very quickly, become over-reliant on him both in terms of our creativity and overall style of play. Clearly that is not his fault but already we will miss him if injured. In my view he should start alongside one of Rooney or RVP – we were simply not as good when he went off.

    3. Competition for places is finally back and that is a very very good thing. When was the last time we had the ability to drop Rooney and not lose creativity or goal-scoring ability? I feel a lot of the criticism he’s received on this forum and elsewhere has been very harsh. No player can perform at 100% all the time – it’s not his fault that we were over-reliant on him to perform since Ronaldo left. Competition and an occasional rest will hopefully see him back to his best which is a frightening thought to opposition defences. RVP took his goal very well and gave a pretty solid performance. It will take him a little time build an understanding with his team mates – the sooner SAF can decide on his first choice attacking option the better. Evra had his best game for United in a couple of seasons – any cooincidence that we just signed a left back? Hopefully Buttner can fulfil his potential and push Evra to perform or fill the slot himself when needed.

    4. We really need to get some centre halves fit and quickly. It’s great Vidic is back but in an ideal world we would never have had to play him twice in a row for 90 minutes – thankfully he seems to be able for it. But our defence remains uncertain and vulnerable and the sooner we can establish a stable centre-half pairing the better. It will also free up Carrick to fill his much needed centre midfield roll.

    5. Fulham were very poor – one of the worst Fulham 11s I’ve seen for many years. Only our defensive frailities gave them any foothold in the match. Did Duff go to the bar after he scored? I certainly didn’t notice him again all game. It makes the mind boggle as to how poor Norwich were last week. Despite the score, United were by far the superior team. With our defence fit it would have been 3-0.

    6. Rafael played well with his classic style of aggressive defense and counter-attacking. However he remains vulnerable when running towards his own goal in defense, a problem associated with his sometimes poor positioning. I do think he is still our best right back but he needs to continue to learn in terms of his positioning and concentrate on his discipline, particularly against teams that pose an attacking threat. For example, what was he doing overlapping Valencia on the right in the 97th minute when we are defending a 1 goal lead with 10 men? But today was the perfect match for him really and he could have had a hat-trick on the day. In my opinion he and Valencia should be our starting right side.

    7. Anderson will continue to divide and infuriate. He was okay today, though other than Dembele, against a poor side. He continues to show incredible potential but lacks consistency. He remains our 5th (maybe 6th) choice centre midfield player behind Carrick, Scholes, Cleverly, Giggs, hopefully Fletcher – and on that basis he’s not bad to have in the squad. He is not however the solution to the Giggs/Scholes replacement issue.

    8. Dembele is not the solution to our midfield “problems”. I put problems in quotes as I do not believe we have a midfield issue this season, though agree that we may need strengthening next year. Dembele played well today with his driving runs and physicality, in a similar way to Fellaini last week. But neither are what we are looking for – we either need someone to stay home, break up play and pass the ball around, or someone who has the speed and engine to make it into the box on our lightning quick counter attacks. Dembele and Fellaini are neither of these and would not suit our style of play.

    9. Did the Rooney’s cut remind anyone else of a leg of lamb? Or was that just me…..

  221. Ironbrand says:

Would I delight anyone here to announce that the fucking dippers are bottom of the league!

  222. Corea says:

Too academic again. But what can you say, supporting your club you must have endless patience.
Disgusting 2nd half and as a result not losing points but losing Rooney.
    Too symbolic i am afraid.
On a possitive side. Oh stop. It will always be that 2nd half for me. Excuse me.

    Get well soon Wayne.

  223. Marq says:

For the 2nd game in a row, a single midfielder caused us no end of problems. And today it wasn’t about height, it was just about pure strength to brush players off the ball.

I didn’t understand the substitutions. Rvp/Rooney/Welbeck had no clue where they were suppose to stand

And we need Carrick back in midfield asap. After Kagawa went off, nobody went to pick up the ball from the defenders,

  224. kingcantona says:

this game showed what we lack – a cheik tiote in midfield breaking legs and keeping the defence protected. we are brilliant going forward and will be solid defensively when ferdi and vidi return to full form but we still need a tiote like player taking out any attacker who tries it. Imagine if that was city toure would have had a field day. FERGIE SIGN TIOTE!!!!!

  225. Mrad_leb says:

last season we never won a game when the opposition team scored first..well at least this is an improvement from last season.

  226. gexmex says:

First half was all about midfield and the rafa — valencia combo. Kagawa was superb and TC supported him to produce great football.
Second half was totally ruined by the subs. True Young was not much of an influence, but why then put Welbeck there…..moving RVP to the left, having Rooney or Hernandez in the striker position and keeping Kagawa was so logical (at least that was what I was expecting). Again, we played the last half hour without a striker, without a proper left wing, and let Fulham take the play to our half. As in the match against Everton I still have to find out where does Welbeck belong, striker, winger, second striker, so many runs, and nothing in the end to show for it…

  227. iced earth says:

    Costas
but the whole defending is suspect
agree with you,to be honest i am not a big fan of phelan
let s stay positive we got the 3points,some cb will return,
dembele would be great alongside carrick or tc 23,but sir alex said it was over,in sir alex we trust

  228. Emyoueffsee says:

Ironbrand,I’ll be shouting on Liverpool v City tomorrow,no question about that.

  229. samuel - united WE stand says:

The constant jibe at Rooney’s weight is boring now. He may lack match full match fitness but if he gobbled chocolate bars and didn’t work towards getting shape like you bang on about, he would be out of the club

  230. united.george says:

Costas – 4 weeks? you mean 6 when you add the extra 2 weeks….. :-)

  231. Red Lion says:

I feel kinda bad for Chicharito… Too good to be left out like this!

  232. samuel - united WE stand says:

Carrick is not a centre half, his presence there will hopefully end today against fulham. His role in midfield is important, gives the other players the platform to get forward, he’s the more disciplined player.

  233. Emyoueffsee says:

Mrad_ leb.Interesting stat that and an unbelievable one.I remember the Blackburn game last year and when we got it back to 2- 2 I would of put anything on United and we ended up losing. That was a big fuck up that cost us further down the line.Which reminds De Gea made a similar mistake then as he did today. He pulls off some unbelievable saves but he needs to be more assertive on crosses but I don’t think he is a major concern and will get better.

  234. Walata says:

    @ Marq @ 17:21

    And we’ve only played Everton & Fulham…. ;) .

  235. Rd5454 says:

I don’t think carrick was too bad tonight, the main problem is no one ture defensive midfielder protect and chase in the box when the defender lost place ,vida not to blame for the second goal ,whatever DDG made how many good save but when the ball cross from two side his decision was bad.wazza was really brave for that one but for the haters no need to say drop him again.pls ando lovers don’t said how good he is because I m sure I can to better than him when I was young.tom also very good tonight ,kagawa are miles better than a lot of overrated players like modric mata narsi …….etc, and never play Danny on the wing, rafa also very good but need to calm when we lead and play good form, hope johnny rio Phil get back soon.sorry for my English .

  236. Corea says:

I really thought when our last substitution was anounced it would be Scholes.
It was written somewhere on the wall, we needed to keep possesion.
And you are right about Wellbz at LW. Somewhat strange decision making but at some time during the season the whole thing must click. Too much of a wait.

  237. Emyoueffsee says:

Samuel I was joking if you were referring to my comment.I’ll put a smiley face in future . :)

  238. Rd5454 says:

And if we had more Tom and kagawa type players on the pitch ,I had confidence against barce and the most most most important view from this match is ——–pls pls pls sir Alex must must must buy dembele before the window close.

  239. samuel - united WE stand says:

Despite the fact FERGIE has claimed he’s never used holding midfielders and will never do so, some still clamour for one. If anything, united need to defend a lot better at the back, no solidity there even with vidic playing. De gea is very talented but he needs to keep improving.

I suppose what united should also do is, when they have the upper hand in a game, they need to kill it off.

  240. Lee Martins Winner says:

when we played everton, some fans were shouting sign fellani, we play fulham and now its dembele, who will it be after the southampton game?

Its too games in, with injury probs and a new strike force. Wait till 10 games, I think ando did well with tom c. carrick will srengthen the midfield. Lads show a little class, some of you are starting to sound like liverpool fans.

  241. Marq says:

    @Walata

That is the problem, it was “only” Everton & Fulham

City, Stoke and a few more teams with brute force to come

  242. Emyoueffsee says:

Corea why Fergie thinks Giggs is a better option to bring on than Scholes is mind boggling.Having said that Giggs worked hard when he came on and put in a few decent tackles but I still think he should never play in the middle.

  243. Costas says:

    @Emyoueffsee

Wouldn’t make a difference. He’s too miserable for smilies pal. ;)

  244. Walata says:

I am concerned about the training/match preparatory regime as well as in-game adjustments. Everyone knew prior to the Everton game that Fellaini was going to be pose a challenge to mark. Couldn’t we have sacrificed the extra striker to play a 4-5-1? After the 1st half didn’t the technical team feel we were getting overrun in the midfield? Play a trio of ando-scholes-Clev to neutralize Everton’s midfield?

Today we take off kagawa, ando & young for Rooney, welbeck & Giggs? For what effing point? Control the game? That wasn’t going to happen with 3 strikers, Clev & tonyV & an aging Giigs! I question what Welbeck & Giggs were introduced to do. Anyone who can explain it to me should cos I have no clue.

  245. Emyoueffsee says:

He has a unique way of saying fergie though, almost like he has tourettes and shouts it.FERGIE!!!!!!!!!!
    Only kidding samuel ;)

  246. Corea says:

    http://cs4409.userapi.com/u27541963/docs/9392ecfdcf7f/240.gif

De Gea skill. We have a great keeper. Thank God we made the right choice in that direction.

  247. Rd5454 says:

yes,It’s just because we really need that type of player,I’ll say it after every game this season because I’m sure every midfielder in every premier league team are better than your lovely ando.its not my opinion ,its the fact see u after next game.

  248. Lee Martins Winner says:

rooney out for 4 weeks, fergie just confirmed.

  249. Costas says:

    @united.george

Nah, thankfully Rooney doesn’t fall in that category! With him it’s usually 2 weeks in advance. If it was Owen on the other hand, his season would be over. :P

    @Emyoueffsee

  250. Corea says:

Michael Keane wasn’t even on the bench. Of course! Fergie already said Evra is also considered at CB!
I am f***** irritated on that one tbh.
But seeing Dembele bulling our defence it makes me shiver.

  251. Marq says:

Nice dive by Torres, can’t blame the ref for giving it

  252. Red October 4 says:

DDG – admit it, wrong buy. Ok, you can go on about his age, great shots topper etc, but ultimately, no authority whatsoever. Crap in crosses. No confidence in him at all.

  253. samuel - united WE stand says:

Lee martin – don’t bother saying anything, it won’t make any difference. We’re bound to sign every player from each premier league club this season.

  254. Walata says:

Is Rooney out a minimum of 4 weeks an estimate just based on the gash? Cos he hasn’t had a scan yet. How long did Nani’s recovery from the anfield mauling take? If there are no ligaments involved isn’t this a similar injury to that?

  255. nesh says:

taking off Kagawa was complete bollocks, notice we lost our fluidity when he was subbed, the thing that was happening to us the whole of last season

  256. Devil310 says:

@Corea – Hi mate, how are you? Dembele not only bullied our defense, but our midfield as well. TC23 and Anderson couldn’t get anywhere near him. He really impressed me. TBH I hadn’t really paid attention to him, but the boy is a monster. Great awareness. Really good with both feet. Fast and strong. FERGIE SIGN HIM UP!

  257. samuel - united WE stand says:

Emyoueffsee – if i were you, i would worry more about your obsession with the way words are typed on here.

  258. Emyoueffsee says:

Tbf nesh Kagawa was starting to have less of an impact before we took him off.

  259. Devil310 says:

@Walata – if you remember, Nani was back fairly quickly. But it seems Rooney gash is bigger and deeper. He might sit out a while. Those thing can take up to 6 weeks to heal properly

  260. samuel - united WE stand says:

Walata – he returned the next game i think. It looks a similar gash, the four weeks might be the manager’s way of trying to dump wayne off the team for a while. I reckon he could be back a lot quicker.

  261. Rd5454 says:

Nani s iusse at anfield just two wks but I think wazza s worse than him.

  262. dannysoya LOVES USAIN BOLT says:

Now Rooney out for FOUR weeks. Great JUST GREAT. Injuries Injuries injuries. What I would give for ONE injury free season for the entire squad.

  263. Emyoueffsee says:

    Samuel can’t take a joke.Sad really. :(

  264. Red Robin says:

    Ferane

We are used to play with wingers, why shall we change? RVP goal came from Evra cross. Tony V played very well on the right wing. Rafa and Young have decent game tonight.

Like some have posted, our midfield will be improved when Carrick come back to his normal position.

Get well soon Rooney. Luckily our team have lots of option in forward position. Chicharito needs to play.

What is the team we are facing next? We should keep this winning form. Great three points tonight.

  265. Corea says:

Really hope all those fat-scouse-haters won’t pray for Rooney getting back as soon as possible.
I am a bit depressed these days so maybe that is the reason it is all doom and gloom for me so far regarding Manchester United. And that injury…
Of course some might say Kagawa, some might say De Gea, some might say Cleverly but it is all a logical continuation of last season for me. Being cautios, being fucking ACADEMIC, not taking any chances and losing it at the end of the day.
There were times we gave the ball to Ronaldo then to Rooney then to Ronaldo and seen the ball in back of the opposition’s net in 12 seconds.

  266. samuel - united WE stand says:

It would be a joke if you didn’t already mention it several times. I’m barely laughing here.

  267. Jesmonta - Malta says:

We must have a player like Dambele and get rid of Anderson. He is the perfect replacement to Paul Scholes. He is worth every penny spent on him. SAF should get this player at any fee required to lure him out of Fulham.

  268. Jesmonta - Malta says:

Pitty we lost Rooney for four weeks, but we have enough replacements and depth in that department.

  269. samuel - united WE stand says:

Corea – i agree about the lack of efficiency. We let teams back in it and make the game more dramatic than it should be. Ruthlessness is missing at the moment, gotta control the tempo of the game. Defensively, vidic is still some way off returning to his best. While every team is playing at full strength, united look patched up and disjointed. It’s still early days though, players are still not full fitness wise, more improvements is needed. Patience patience.

Torres like many is a diving cunt anyway. That’s the way things are.

  270. Walata says:

@ Samuel – United we stand

Thanks…that’s what I thought. Hopefully he’s back as soon as possible.

Want to pick your brain on this CDM conundrum…if Sir Alex says he won’t buy a CDM what does he consider Fletcher or Hargreaves? Aren’t they CDMs?

  271. Corea says:

Yeah. Injuries in defence and not being able to bring the first half tempo in the second half hence the boring calculative football and Rooney’s injury. 4-1 and Rooney wouldn’t have made that tackle.

    Newcastle – boooooring!

  272. Walata says:

    @ Devil310

6 weeks? I hope it doesn’t take that long or he might not find a spot in the squad when he returns if RVC & Kagawa form a potent duo.

  273. Corea says:

@Walata – of course!!! With a little complication. Provided RvP stays injury free himself.

I can’t imagine United without the “fat scouser” to be honest. But time will tell.

  274. Devil310 says:

@ Walata – the main concern is where the cut is located, right above the knee. That part of the body is constantly stretching, specially for a footballer who’s in constant movement, running and kicking. You could easily fuck up your stitches, setting you back a couple of more weeks. Nani’s was a shin injury. You do not get the same movement there, so as long as you don’t get kick there, you can run without worrying about reopening the gash

  275. Red Robin says:

Shiittey will destroy the dippers tomorrow and my weekend will be a bliss. :)

  276. RedRich says:

Chavski 3 games – 3 penalties and the game’s not over yet!

Good to see the Olympian spirit alive and well with Torres – still fucking cheating.

If ever a club has systematically spoilt football in this country it’s fucking Chavski. Trophies bought and cheated for on an industrial scale.

  277. slim says:

Backline doesn’t fill me with confidence. The lot to be honest. Johnny is really good and has stepped it up but I’m worried if he’ll pick up where he left off.
Vida shown he still missing something- understandable after the injury and finally Rio. His injury problems are well documented. All in all Ur looks disjointed from midfield to defense.
What’s more alarming is the defensive shape of the squad. Totally off and I felt like puking watching Fulham carving us open the way they did.
At the end of the day we got the 3 points but we went off the pitch feeling and looking lucky.

The positives were clear for all to see, tony v,kagawa,Tom C and DDG were fantastic. One can’t help nut stare at the problems though.
Oh and just to put it out there. A dembele purchase puts Tom C ascension on hold. The Belgian is class but we have ours and I’d like to see him succeed.
Finally I think we could do with one less winger. One too many and a fair number of strikerd too. Bit of imbalance I think and it shows on the pitch

  278. Marq says:

Rooney’s gash is at the inner thigh area, where there can be alot of movement. If it doesnt heal up fully, you run the risk of it tearing up again & infection. A month out seems just about right, although it wont surprise me if he is back after 2 weeks

  279. Walata says:

    @ Corea

Did you forget that RVP is on some horse serum/semen therapy & recovers from injuries in 48 hrs ;)

  280. Walata says:

    @ Devil310 & Marq

    Thanks for the info.

  281. Costas says:

    @Emyoueffsee

There’s always a party pooper. Fuck him.

  282. KingOfStretfordEnd says:

We do things the hard way, but still I see loads of positive things here.

Kagawa, RVP, Clev, Ando, Rafael, TonyV- they were exciting today. Especially after we equalized, and that’s because we had the confidence up then. 2-1, 3-1, we were playing great. Of course, it was when we scored the OG, was when we started to panic. Its defensive problems now that’s the issue. I can’t blame Carrick much, he isn’t even supposed to be there. DDG needs to gain back some confidence. Once Jones, Rio, Evans are back it’ll be good.

Get well soon Rooney. If this was a fews yrs back, I’d be sick worried. But we’ve got more than ample options upfront, there’s no reason to fret imo. And the gash Nani got against liverpool a few years back seemed horrendous, but if i rmb right he came back in a wk or two? So it should be alright with Rooney, hope it heals fast.

There were loads of positives today – Kagawa looks great, Tony V is as good as ever, Cleverley is getting better, Rafael had his best game in ages. First half looked really fluid. Ronney’s injury might be a blessing in disguise if it allows Cleverly Kagawa RVP the chance to learn how to gel

Well done United, 3 points is always paramount.

Those who (often rudely) ask why Rooney, Welbeck and Giggs came on, my view is:
    - Rooney needs playing time to get match fit. We’ve been discussing it all week on RoM.
    - Welbeck has teamed up well with Wayne, and confidence is easily lost by a youngster.
Bringing on Wayne was always guaranteed, and Welbeck is his partner.
    - Giggs works hard, covers ground, breaks up play by reading the game and positioning himself well, knows how to see out a result, can create (if Fulham equalised)

Bad luck Wayne, but don’t take it easy. There’s plenty of gym work that can be done.

With regard to Dembele, I doubt he would have looked as good had Carrick been in the midfield, with Rio behind him.
