    @costas
would love to see ando and tom in there together. congrats to Carrick for his 300th but surely he could use a break. exited to see nani and giggs onthe wings, might see some old fashioned wing play. come on you reds.

come on you reds, lets march on for f**k’s sake!! strong enough lineup for me. would’ve loved to see cleverly in the middle with ando though. re-gnite the 8-2 be an arsenal fan tune.

  21. FletchTHEMAN says:

Sorry, Sir Alex’s 117th FACup match

  22. Daniel88 says:

I was offered a ticket for the game but just too skint. Gutted.

    This team pleases me.
… problems aside De Gea is the best keeper at the club.
    … both first team fullbacks.
… two young central defenders who will get a test versus Berbatov.
… two central midfielders being our best combination.

  23. TK99 says:

i hope we could get a nice win without any injury and hopefully Vida and Clevs are OK.

  24. andromeda says:

While Berba was taking some warm up, he applauded the stretford end and embraced the kit man Albert Morgan. We will miss you God father.

  25. montanared says:

    @torbis
    google First row sports
lots of pop ups but once you get through them they show every game every week

I wonder if all our wingers are auditioning for a place in the team next year. with the arrival of Zaha (welcome aboard) and none of our wingers in form I could see nani, valencia or young going. truth be told giggs has probably been our best winger over the last month or so, would love to see nani do well today.

  26. Bek@. says:

Evra raphael nd carrick should hav been rested…

  27. Costas says:

The plan’s going well. Score, keep calm and don’t let him get the ball. 8)

  28. FletchTHEMAN says:

    GIGGS: Penalty! 1-0 United.

That’s Giggs 50th goal at Old Trafford. Verified United Legend!

  29. dre says:

anybody got free live streaming link for this game? its not showing on the telly here :/

  30. montanared says:

looks like giggs is our man from the spot, when he’ s on the pitch.
    thank goodness

  31. rijah says:

Now we will sit on this goal till Fulham scores back and then wake up. Time to sleep on this goal now.

  32. Phil Jones' Birdshit Streaks says:

Has Rooney forgot how to play football?

  33. Daniel88 says:

Nani hasn’t made a telling contribution so far yet he has done more in 25 minutes than Young and Valencia have done in their last five games combined.

  34. Marq says:

Some people just dont have anything nice to say huh?

  35. Phil Jones' Birdshit Streaks says:

    Fuck you Marq

    (yeah, you’re right ;) )

  36. ben says:

Nani hasnt make a telling contribution? He did get to space and create chances for himself. Valencia? He did cross but all not to own player.

Btw, commentator say Berbatov is a artist, he likes to see his own work being play. Wtf. Haha

  37. Costas says:

Ok, lets bring some positivity back in this thread. Berba’s control a few minutes ago was really sexy. 8)

  38. mybloodismetal says:

man rooney’s first touch is horrendous

  39. rijah says:

Come on lads… We need to make it 2-0 at halftime… We can do it… Go united… GGMU…

  40. georgejoseph says:

its like watching paint dry………….boring or what

  41. georgejoseph says:

i think they are still on holiday

  42. Daniel88 says:

Berba’s control was very sexy but as the commentators said after that he stood 50 yards from goal and watched the play develop.

    unacceptable

  43. santaClaus says:

our final ball is poor time and time again. And what is clattenburgs problem ,, that was a foul on giggs and rafael not given

  44. Dela says:

Old Trafford silent lol possibly the quietest atmosphere in years. Should walk this game but that being said, we should be more than 1 up. I understand energy conservation, save your strength against the lower sides but dont look like zombie united either lol

  45. Phil Jones' Birdshit Streaks says:

Remember lads, the ref’s gotta appear neutral and not giving everything our way.

    Clattemburg. Referee. Leader. Legend

  46. Goat Peticoat says:

    17.52 Rooney corner over hit

45.21 offside rooney (actually onside) neat bring down of the ball on the run, would have been clear in on goal
    HT

Excellent play by Rooney, came too deep on one occassion and disrupted play around the 37-38 minute mark. Generally very good link up play by staying forward and joining play to the midfield. Pressing defenders and rather being the “pass to me Stevie Me” just made himself available and made the work for those around him easier, making them look better. If Rooney plays like this every match he’s worth his weight in gold.

Typical, lol, I decide to do a play by play analysis on Rooney to prove hes not all that and he has a very good game so far.

  47. montanared says:

shocker from Clattenburg, I didn’t get a clear look at the first penalty but after that one bad decision after another. Carrick was a monster breaking up play, Nani in the middle of everything but frustratung as always. should be 3-0, please don’t make this harder than it has to be lads.

  48. Hans says:

Nani at his best! I cannot remember a United player that frustrated you like him. .

  49. Costas says:

Need to pick up the pace in the 2nd half. Fulham are limited in what they can do but the likes of Nani and Rooney need a shot in the arm in terms of confidence.

  50. Marq says:

Oh, its unacceptable that Berba is 50yards from our goal? Maybe he should be doing sexy stuff in our box, that would please us for sure

  51. WeAreUnited says:

    @santaclaus

you beat me, I was about to say

If you meant that second penalty that should have given ? and what was clattenburg trying to prove, that Duff touched it accidentally??? delusional referee

And the foul on Rafael? why they didn’t give it to us? crazy stuff

should have been 2-0 and with more precise passing from Nani, 4-0

cmon Nani!! we believe in you! btw It was glad to see Rooney applauding Nani for his trying. Usually the ygo at each others!

that’s the spirit. Ando, Giggs and rafael running the show, not to forget our future CB’s, very good!

  52. woodsie says:

@ dre i use for wiziwig for games not on tele

  53. Proverb says:

This is a walk in the park for manchester united, but we are making in hard for our selves, we should be 2 or 3 ahead by now

  54. Mr C says:

Training game. Just how shit are Fulham and the referree? This game should have be done and dusted already.

  55. woodsie says:

@goat zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz fuck me what the game and enjoy it

  56. santaClaus says:

Agree with Goat peticoat there, rooney has been good , dont forget if not for schwarzer he would have got 2 goals himself.
But nani is centre of frustration here for many .. but i hope he gets a full run .. will do a bit for his confidence

  57. Proverb says:

    Damn typos!

  58. Andromeda says:

Its a shame that a player of Berba quality plays in such a poor team like Fulham .unfortunate for the God father.

  59. Goat Peticoat says:

    woodsie
Im a regular not a game time troll, Im proving points to regulars, you dont like keep it to yourself

  60. woodsie says:

i was a regular and u really got out better to do than make notes i aint no troll prob been more times ot than u been in your life

  61. dannysoya LOVES USAIN BOLT says:

My thoughts on the first half?…….. FUCKING HELL NANI. Cross the fucking ball on time. Other than that i’d say we’ve done pretty well so far. We NEED to kill this game off fast. Fulham are capable.

  62. Andromeda says:

There are plenty of rooms to score more goals but I will be very happy if we can hang on to one goal and still escape without any serious injuries.

  63. Goat Peticoat says:

    dannysoya LOVES USAIN BOLT

I cannot remember a game where Nani and Rooney linked up well in my life. Today Rooney played well and Nani has been daft. The skill is there but the maturity to be a seasoned pro will never be there. I would sell.

  64. Costas says:

    @Marq

Don’t bother, lol. Responding to comments taken in context from ESPN isn’t worth it. ;)

  65. Goat Peticoat says:

    woodsie

Yeah mate I cant even remember ever seeing you here before, maybe yo are a regular “under a different name” but why does that give you right to make a snidey comment. Your clever comment makes you seem a chav, boring.

  66. Marq says:

For God’s sake, this is Nani’s first game for months. Give him some time

  67. rijah says:

Is cleverly present in the subs?

  68. Daniel88 says:

    brilliant goal

  69. WeAreUnited says:

Bravo Nani, there you had some glimpses, his second game in a while and people demanding him to get back to strenght

what about ROoney who had to play 3-4games to get in form?

    patience people

  70. santaClaus says:

WOOOOH !!! typical rooney finish ! bang …
And what a pass from ando accurate with perfect pace

  71. Costas says:

Great. Now hopefully Nani will get one.

  72. WeAreUnited says:

    ROONEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEY

    Ando the magicman

  73. Andromeda says:

    Goodness!what a goal.

  74. rijah says:

    Hell yeah… Second one… Beautiful…. ;)

  75. Costas says:

    Much better.

  76. Daniel88 says:

    good finish from hernandez

he was always going to score, he did start after all.

  77. santaClaus says:

now thats more like it ! good play both rooney and nani !

  78. WeAreUnited says:

    CHCIHARITO

12 goals in his last 15

  79. Proverb says:

Nani has played better that your beloved wazza. Okay…
Its no time for comparisons but rooney has been poor so far, its understandable as he just came back from an injury. But hasn’t done anything for people to start licking his arse

  80. rijah says:

Clean sheet please… We need all the support to help prove de gea is the best… Screw the media today…

  81. dannysoya LOVES USAIN BOLT says:

@Goat. I don’t know about sell but i do agree that Nani can be at times frustrating but when he’s on form he’s is literally unstoppable. Just needs that bit more consistency. I still love Nani and I think he still has a lot to offer for us.

  82. rijah says:

    Chichaaaaaaaaa…..you beauty…. We need more…. Chicha.. Chicha…

  83. Dela says:

    More like it :-)

  84. Andromeda says:

We have a beast in Rooney, a sniper in Chica and a goal machine in RVP.
Can we achieve the treble?its still early for such talk!but I say why not.

  85. Phil Jones' Birdshit Streaks says:

There’s the Rooney we know and love. Great finish

  86. WeAreUnited says:

    CHICHARITO @ MANCHESTER UNITED

    2012-2013: 21/12 ~ start:13, goals: 9 ~ sub: 9, goals: 4 : and 5 assists

  87. Daniel88 says:

    Its incredible.

Dimitar Berbatov has considerably more talented than Javier Hernandez.
    … but …
I would rather play AGAINST Dimitar Berbatov than Javier Hernandez.

  88. Costas says:

    Javi on fire.

  89. MJ says:

63:04 – de gea kicks the ball out of play. i can almost smell the shitstorm on the horizon…

  90. WeAreUnited says:

THIS IS THE NANI we know

his second half is muchmuch better

    2012-2013: 21/12 ~ start:13, goals: 10 ~ sub: 9, goals: 4 : and 5 assists

  91. Goat Peticoat says:

    Rooney watch
46.19 quick possesion and neat back heal keeping attacking momentum going
46.30 Rooney shot, hits defender, could have been his third or fourth
47.29 good corner, nobody attacked it
48.18 offside, well off side out wide
49.19 gets ball speedily to his feet breaking towards the box, control jinks past his man and buries it on the net, brilliant
good break towards goal on in the 51st min
51.30 persistance in the penalty area Rooney passes it through to Nani, recieves it back when Nani is held up, breaks to the by line and drills in a cross, ultimately ends up as a goal
52.59 scuffed long ball to Nani still finds his man
53.51 take down after clearance and pass sideways to Nani
55.46 pressing and being a pain in the arse deep to the fulam midfield and wins back possession
57th-58th minute Rooney dropping deeper, fulham with more possession
Substitution of Scholes has moved United further forward and Rooney moves up the pitch accordingly after coming deep to help out in a time of Fulham pressure/United sitting back
63.36 Rooney recieves the ball in midfield under pressure and loses it

    4-0
Ill have to end it there, work to do, a fire to stoke up, its bloody cold there. Rooney excellent, so far 9or10/10
Despite the frustrations of Nani Rooney still passes out wide to him. excellent, let the manager punish a player for making bad crosses or generally being ineffective and drop him if need be, just play your game and thats what hes done. Today a real team player

  92. WeAreUnited says:

    2012-2013: 21/12 ~ start:13, goals: 10 ~ sub: 9, goals: 4 : and 5 assists

    chicharito’s stats :D

  93. Costas says:

Fulham won’t be so easy at Craven Cottage next week. That being said, it would be a huge setback if we don’t win that game.

  94. WeAreUnited says:

    CHICHARITO @ MANCHESTER UNITED

    2012-2013: 21/12 ~ start:13, goals: 10 ~ sub: 9, goals: 4 : and 5 assists

    His last 14 games

13 goals? I will check on that later on

  95. Andromeda says:

Everyone should enjoy this performance so far.proud of being a united fan.

  96. dannysoya LOVES USAIN BOLT says:

As much as I love and appreciate Berbatov’s skill surely he could at least track back when he loses a ball. Imagine how incredible he would be if he could just add some more hardwork to his game.

  97. Daniel88 says:

Riise is scared shitless of Nani.
… he knows that at any point Nani can drop a shoulder and leave him for dead.

Kagawa and Valencia are good choices to bring on unlike Scholes.
They need to play themselves into some kind of form and Kagawa needs to practice standing up.

  98. WeAreUnited says:

last 17 games 13 goals and 4 assists

    impressive by chicharito ;:D

a poache and the game ain’t over yet

  99. rijah says:

Sure sir alex will play a different game at caravan cottage… Let’s clean this one off with a clean sheet please….

  100. santaClaus says:

that was sad .. a poor goal to give away ..

  101. dannysoya LOVES USAIN BOLT says:

LOL rijah. Just as you said it. We really can’t seem to keep a clean sheet these days.

  102. rijah says:

    Noooooo…..why can’t we keep a clean sheet even after 4-0 up…ohh god…

  103. Costas says:

    Can’t buy a clean sheet,lol.

  104. rijah says:

At least we score 2 more to make it 6-1… :D

  105. Goat Peticoat says:

    dannysoya LOVES USAIN BOLT

Im not say sell Nani on the back of this performance but more to do with his age, what you can get back for him. Do we really want to go through another transfer contract saga when he isnt really a good enough player to cause a fuss. He has sublime skills and has really quick feet but he makes the wrong decisions 80% of the time. I just feel that there must be other young wingers out there, who will have a similar skill set but a more intelligent head on his shoulders and for less money. Maybe thats what Fergie was thinking when he got Young. Young is a 70% 80% man on a game by game basis. Nani is a potential game changer or match winner but 4 out of 5 matches he plays at a 30-40% level.

  106. santaClaus says:

    come on mr clattenburg !

  107. Costas says:

Should have been 5 but Clattenburg once again proves that all decisions go our way.

  108. WeAreUnited says:

clattenburg is crazy, I thought he whistled and gave us a penalty :D

but again a foul and a goal denied

BTW Ithink we got our Nani back i nthe second half

    WELCOME BACK NANI!

  109. Goat Peticoat says:

How do fans on one hand say that their ticket price is too high and then spend most of the last 5 minutes shuffling to the exits. Its as if you go to the Opera and miss the last scene.
Cant they spend a couple of hundred quid to get Sue Pollard come in after the final whislte to stand over a pot of porridge with a wooden spoon half out her gusset stiring a feast for the homeless of manchester singing Danny Boy for the catholic contingent.
Thats worth the entrance fee alone and would stop the rush to make Old Trafford look like the City Ground.

  110. santaClaus says:

Second half nani started to get better with his game and decisions
Clattenburg is a funny ref , nobody except him would be able to understand couple of his decisions

Rooney was really good .. worked for the team , linking up play. scoring goals and defending when need ed

  111. Hans says:

Not bad at all. Just a few things:
Why did we not put a man at near post for the corner? Tony should start making some first time crosses, too often needlessly he takes a touch and then he is closed down.

Yet again Clattenburg showed that he is clown!

Now we need to repeat this performance on Wednesday!

  112. samuel - united WE stand says:

goat – you’ve totally lost me on that comment but at least some positives regarding rooney (even if it’s through gritted teeth) ha.

  113. Pratyush says:

    Rooney played very well.

Nani was OK, looked better towards end of second half.

Kagawa played for too little time to make impact.

Defense played very well, Back four was well organised, Smalling brought ball out from defense well, and Jones tackled fearlessly (and well).

Hernandez played well, dropping deep at times and hugging the line at others.

Giggsy showed some sublime touches, played well, dictating play on the left wing.

Anderson looked off-pace in the early parts of the first half, but picked up the pace as the game progressed. Good performance from him.

Carrick was excellent as usual, but was also pressing the ball, cutting off space for Fulham’s midfield. Good job.

DDG had nothing to do in the entire match, and nearly saved that rocket of a header.

Overall good match from United. Excellent link up play upfront and good to see players returning from injury and playing well.

  114. samuel - united WE stand says:

Can only see nani getting better as we enter the nail bitting end to the season, he’s a confidence player and as soon as some of his mesmeric trickery started to come off, he started to look on his way back to his best. A fantastic talent, why people are trying to hound him out of the club i’ll never know.

  115. Goat Peticoat says:

    what comments that fella

  116. samuel - united WE stand says:

This comment, i don’t think it matters though but i agree about people should stay and enjoy the entirety of what they paid for, i suppose it depends on what people are up to on a saturday night.

  118. samuel - united WE stand says:

Nani is top quality, get behind the lad. i don’t think there are any better wingers out there that are avalaible and he does have a future her, hopefully he signs the new contract, fergie has declared he still thinks nani is integral to the team and i agree. A match winner, we don’t need run of the mill hoofing wingers that severely lack in technique.

  119. FletchTHEMAN says:

    Great result!

    Thoughts:
Nani a bit rusty… but first match back since Nov 7. That assist on Hernadez’s first goal was top drawer. Class is permanent lads!

Rooney needs games as well, hope his goal puts some confidence back in him.
Fulham are dropping like a stone. Big news from tonight is that we can rest Rio and Vidic if needed and play the same team when we meet Fulham in the league next week. Very good news indeed.

In his post match Ferguson said he wants 3 players to get 20+ goals:
Hernandez is now on 14, Rooney on 10, Robin van Persie on 22.
    Well on track then!

  120. FletchTHEMAN says:

PS. Clattenburg was terrible. Credit for the penalty we did get. But Riise should have been off for handling in the box and another penalty. The lineman deserves to be reassigned as well for the offsides calls.

At least 2 goals chalked off just because of bad refs.

    Typical United match then ;)

The refs really need to get their act together, time after time potentially crucial decisions are going against United. Remarkable part is that we seem to be soldiering on regardless. Testament to the players’ belief really, but I cant believe the extent to which the refs are messing up.

  122. UnitedFaithful says:

Nani is the only unorthodox winger currently we have in our squad. But sometimes he looks a bit confused.Maybe the contract saga is still playing on his mind.Hopefully the gaffer will give him proper chance to show what he brings to the team.Would hate to see a talented player like him leave.

On a serious note: Really missed scholsesy’s leg breaking tackles. :D

  124. WeAreUnited says:

Nani did seem today in the first half a bit confused

But his second half was Nani at his best. I think he did really well, by the standards that it was only his second game in what 2-3months?

Chicharito amazes me, I know I have posted these stats over and over again, but the lad is on fire

    CHICHARITO @ MANCHESTER UNITED

    2012-2013: ~ start:13, goals: 10 and 4 assists ~ sub: 9, goals: 4 and 1 assist

You got the jist, its just with United doing so much in the last minutes and the team playing right to the end its just crazy that people would want to miss the spectacle. What else is there to do on a staturday night, get high, go to a night club, avoid a knife fight fuck a lass with clamidia, get drunk on alco pops and european piss beer. Vomit in the street and help fund the brotherhood of islam by paying £5 for goat meat wrapped up in stale bread disguised by some stomach churning shit inducing sauce. Night in a cell.

  128. Goat Peticoat says:

  129. NBI Red Onion says:

My key observation would be that I like the look of Jones and Smalling at CB, they did really well and look a good pacy partnership. I think SAF kept Rafa and Evra on so they had experience around them and Evra to help organise them. The other player who really impressed was Anderson, running with ball, picking his passes, he was excellent it is a wry smile that Ando leaves, how good would it be if this player could stay fit.

To be frank this was a very poor Fulham side that struggled to string passes together and none of their players could keep possession. They were shit. It was a good warm up game and a chance for Rooney and Pea to get some goals and Nani to get a game under his belt. He is my first choice winger any time, Valencia is not impressing at all.

Was hoping to see Lindy in goal but after all the abuse I guess SAF wanted to give De Gea a confidence boost, he had nothing to do till the goal. However, watching him you can see he still does not organise and yell at the defence enough. But he is only 22. Hopefully that will come and not be too expensive. Crap defending for goal, basically a free header, can’t give that away to better teams.

  130. NBI Red Onion says:

Let me also mention. Ryan Giggs, MOM for me and still our best left winger.

  131. medumtum says:

Giggsy really showing his class. Its the thing about our veterans, they seem to gather strength as the season goes on and teams begin to wear down. As long as they are used sparingly theres no reason why they cant make meaningful contributions.

  132. samuel - united WE stand says:

Brilliant comment goat, very creative. Ha

  133. samuel - united WE stand says:

NBI – agreed on anderson out there, seems to be gaining confidence all the time. A true powerful driving force from central midfield, his barnstorming runs and ability to beat players centrally does put opponents on the back-foot, his passes are crisp/incisive and with purpose. He keeps things ticking and moving with his mobility and links up play with his brazilian flair. United need to wrap him up in a fucking cotton wool, need him against madrid in both legs.

  134. Voice of Reason says:

Excellent – dynamic forward play stemming from andersons drive and two genuine ball players out wide who can go both inside and outside. More of the same – bed Nani in this team please

  135. Dela says:

@medumtum –> Yep mate, I said it here back weeks ago when GIggsy and Scholesy were under a bit of fire for their performances and so on… I said that Giggs in particular would start to show his quality later on, and earmarked the champions league as the competition he will show his vast experience and ability… here’s hoping I’m right about that :-) But looking at the last time we made it past the group stages in 2011 (and well, all the way to the final), Giggsy was a BOSS in games that mattered… assisted Rooney in our 1-0 at stamford bridge….. assisted Hernandez for the first goal at Old Trafford, then assisted Park for our second goal (less than a minute after Drogba scored) too. He also set up Hernandez against Marseille and scored against Schalke…… and there’s likely more I’m forgetting.

  136. NYDUDE says:

Hopefully the rags meet chefski next and we have Luton at OT so Luton can make some money……..

Fulham were fckin dismal today…… Premier league club they are not. Duff is one shit player!!!!

  137. Dela says:

    @NYDUDE –> OII!!! IRISH MAN HERE… LAY OFF DUFF Y’HEAR? :P

  138. denton davey says:

Goat @ 20:12: “Young is a 70% 80% man on a game by game basis.”

You’re joking or NOT paying any attention whatsoever.

“Nani is a potential game changer or match winner but 4 out of 5 matches he plays at a 30-40% level.”

The first half of this statement “game changer or match winner” is correct but the second part is just daft. Nani is a box-of-tricks which comes with its own issues – he tends to hold on to the ball too much which allows the defenders to re-organize themselves BUT he has skills that Ashley Young and/or AV7 can hardly dream about having in their game.

I grant you that he’s inconsistent and can be frustrating but his skill-set is simply fantastic – he tends to do his thing. The team is more dangerous when skilled players like Nani can bring a moment-of-magic that not only raises the stakes for defenders but also greatly increases the enjoyment for fans like me. The question for the manager is somewhat different – with off-the-scale talents, do you want them to be team players or do you allow them to express themselves ? By and large, SAF seems to be “indulgent” towards guys with outrageous skill but he’s also shown to have a short fuse when they don’t adapt their game so as to fit it into the team-concept – that’s what happened to Dimmy and it might happen with Nani.

  139. medumtum says:

@Dela. Yup. The Chelsea goals in particular stand out. Not to mention in the league the match against norwich the second half of last season comes to mind. Our veterans made a huge contribution in making sure we pushed City all the way. Just as long as we dont play them together. What a killer final ball Giggsy has. Cant help but remember that through ball to mikey owen when we broke City hearts. Just glad these guys are around to prop up the team through these cup matches when concentration can waver. Legends.

  140. denton davey says:

pratyrush @ 20:34: “Giggsy showed some sublime touches, played well, dictating play on the left wing.”

He’s a true legend; one of the all-time greats at UTD. He’s also incredibly “inconsistent” from moment-to-moment with a game.

It doesn’t seem to me that he’s a very different player from ten years ago – not much slower, not much decline in his in-match fitness, and he still comes up with “sublime touches”, incredible close-control, and astonishing vision.

Giggs seems to be coming into a vein of form, too.

  141. Dela says:

@medumtum –> Ye I’m not even sure that playing them together is bad, it’s playing them together in the middle of the park that doesn’t seem to work. Firstly, Giggsy is out of his natural left position, and secondly, they have approaching 40 year old joints… if you put them in there together up against a young 20something, eventually the younger joints is going to get the better of the older, there’s not much Giggs or Scholes can do about that, but I would say if we substitute Scholesy on late for the middle of the park whIle Giggs is on the left there’s no reason that can’t work. Today that was done only really because Fergie wanted to rest Carrick and later Ando (cant remember which went off for Scholes) and give Kagawa some more minutes, but there’s still very few midfielders in the game who can settle the middle of the park like Paul Scholes, and today Giggsy showed he’s still got it in his natural role. It’s going to suck replacing those guys… it’s kind of impossible, they are just classes above 99% of world football.

  142. medumtum says:

@denton. Sir Alex certainly seemed to be pursuing a more energetic fluid style of play when Dimi was out of favor. I think though we have settled for a more balanced approach for now. Its nani’s repeated poor choices that seemed to have put him out of favor. When somebody crosses Sir Alex one too many times, its quite simply good bye. Just hope he meant it when he said Nani is sticking around and the contract gets sorted. As you said the Portugese is quite simply unique in our team. As was the Berb. But unlike the berb who had hernandez nipping at his heels, Nani is quite simply the best available winger we have right now. Dont buy the diamond crap, United have and will continue to play with wingers.

  143. Voice of Reason says:

@denton agreed re nani – had to word some thick c**t at the game who started slating nani after about 15 mins when he did not find a red shirt for the first time – his response was “nani is shit, young is much better, and I bet you rate welbeck too he’s shit as well” – I said to him your at the wrong ground mate – you’d fit in well at the etihad with the other clueless numpties.

Nani gets me off my seat could easy have had 2 goals and 3 assists today

  144. medumtum says:

@Dela. Absolutely agree. Scholes brings instant control. Just having two forty year olds like you implied seems to open up the midfield and our defenders are left exposed. The general energy levels seem to decline and someone from midfield is forced to sit deep and mind the backline. Usually its carrick, but we do seem to concede whenever the two of them are playing, or anybody apart from Carrick is partnering Scholesy. As long as its a late substitution when we’re looking to control possession and giggsy isn’t partnering him in the center, nobody should have an issue with the Sir Alex utilizing them. We are certainly lucky to have these two playing for our club. Sometimes bringing Scholesy on is like flicking a switch. Instant control indeed. Mind you thats usually later in the game when teams are not pressing.

  145. samuel - united WE stand says:

What baffles me is the continious speculation around nani. It’s like a media driven agenda to get united losing quality players. I don’t get why other wingers at the club have more of an entitlement to stay than nani, it really puzzles me, what have any of them done to deserve this?.

I’ve always said it, nani’s technical stye of play, dribbling and link up play requires taking risks, it means it might come off or it might not, it’s not a case of “consistency” but one of “you try, fail or gain, you try again”. He’s a mesmeric talent not appreciated by those do not understand flair. He needs more support, not fucking ridicule and groans in every game. No such thing as a “perfect” human, let alone any footballer. Players like nani can carry united into the level it wants to be, the mediocre workman like players will NOT.

  146. Red River Red says:

    @WeAreUnited

    Chicha’s actually at 14 goals, not 13.

Well on the way toward achieving Fergie’s goal of at least three of our strikers being at 20 goals or more this season.

  147. wayne says:

Fulham were fucking awful today should be ashamed of themselves putting in time and collecting a pay check.More than half should be left out next game, some young lads keen and hungry would be much better than those disinterested cunts

  148. Jigpig says:

It was good to see Berba get a good reception from the OT faithful tonight. I know he comes across as a lazy player but the instant control he has over the ball puts some of our players to shame.
It was also good to see a few thousand wait to clap him up the tunnel after the match.
    Respect where it is due.

  149. WeAreUnited says:

    @redriverred

he is this season in 14 goals and 5 assists in totall of 22 games. YES

but his stats in his last 17 games he has 13 goals and 4 assists, But it’s better keeping the total amoun on. BTW he’s better as a sub like you see from the stats I have posted and will post for you again, I just love the lad!!

    CHICHARITO @ MANCHESTER UNITED

    2012-2013: ~ start:13, goals: 10 and 4 assists ~ sub: 9, goals: 4 and 1 assist.

@samuel well written text about Nani. But we gotta admit that his first half was poor, though it is ony his second game IMAGINE!

But his second half had that Nani world class all written on him, when you consider how little he has played :) He has a lot of t odo, but knowing Young is injured and Valencia out of FORM like Nani was at one time badly but everyone wanted his head off.

Now it’s Nani’s turn. And Giggsys I guess :P MOTM Giggsy again, he’s a beats on the left even at his age, glad SAF has listened for us :P or he just went reminising and hit the jackpot with Giggsy again by figuring his position again :P

  150. WeAreUnited says:

    I MEANT

Chicharito is better as a starter :D a freudian slip I guess haha

so many has always said that so it has stuck in my mind, though it’s the opposite with Chicha.

  151. wayne says:

Nothing more than a kick around today get more competition on the training ground. It was good the lads coming back off injury got a run out but it’s pointless putting any emphasis on how anyone played, don’t remember such a lackluster performance from a visiting team

  152. WeAreUnited says:

@wayne my friend, how do you like my copy posts ;)

I think SAF is 100% right, though I admit, I never followed John Terry as a youngster, but Jones is versatile and that will make him a better CB, cause he will have that drive forward like Lucio had.

As a CB he will be along with Smalling who I thought played like Rio against Fulham, devastating and our future, ALSO put Rafael and Fabio and Buttner there, maybe Blacket and also Michael Keane with Johnny Evans, WOW. looks beautiful, doesn’t it.

  153. wayne says:

WeAreUnited get in strange moods on match days mate and giving up the points like we did sends me mental, sorry for having a go

  154. WeAreUnited says:

    @wayne

haha no probs mate! I understand .
It’s the gameday and it gets mixed up , when suddenly some show here and really have a go with the players, and if you tend to agree a little with them, well you get in a cross fire, even though you don’t mean it in a bad way, and we tend to get misunderstood.

I am also a person that tries to explain so the other understands my point, I don’t mean to stuff my opinion, or that it is correct, I just try to explain why I think it in that way, you know.

But you have your opinion and I have mine . SO no worries haha. United We Stand!

cheers mate, and apologies from here too!

  155. WeAreUnited says:

and yeah It didn’t help the way we lost 2 points haha

    peace.

  156. wayne says:

WeAreUnited i love the kid and couldn’t believe the amount of stick he came under last year by some fans, think he’s a rare talent that will develop into something special and don’t think Utd will ever have to worry about him fucking off somewhere else has Utd character.
Just read Utd going to extend Carrick’s contract at the end of the season deserves it if RVP hadn’t had shown up would’ve been Utd’s player of the year.Another story on over 15 different websites in France is Rooney headed to PSG,seems fucked up to me

  157. Red River Red says:

    @WeAreUnited

Agreed on Chicha. What a strike force we have when he’s a third-choice attacker for us!

    On toward #20!!!

  158. WeAreUnited says:

Jones will definitely become a United legend if he wills and has the drive, and I think honestly he has it, he plays football and that’s it, he will become great.

I have always said, that the best center backs are those that you don’t notice that much, cause tthey are doing their job without mistakes. And he’s liek that, the good thing, he has that crazy run on him, I was amazed last year when he ran liek a beast for about 3-4 games. He just went through the middle haha. crazy man.

As for Carrick, well I have to admit, that I wasn’t a big fan of his, but I think I jyts felt for the trap of others, and didn’t quite follow him. And Carrick had that 1.5 year spell where he wasn’t at his best, he had to find that drive again. Fletcher at that time was I think infront of him.

But now the lad has been amazing, you can see that when a team sheet is mentioned, everyone has carrick on their. so he has fought himself back, and that’s a big respect from me. But it doesn’t mean that we don’t need a cover or even a replacement for him, by this I mean, either an academy player like Tunni who could cover him, and if he’s better, then replace. I don’t mean sell Carrick :) or an outsider.

Rooney to PSG, well I don’t know, he’s our talisman, and it’s hard to imagine him off, but if SAF gets 60-80 mill from him, maybe SAF would sell him.Hard to say. I Wouldn’t sell him for less than 60mill. But I myself don’t buy too much into those. After all he’s valuable and has that United spirit written all over him.

  159. Pratyush says:

Sell Rooney? Why would United, just when we’re getting back our fluidity and attacking play, sell one of the fulcrums of that revival?

Rooney is the hub of most things that United create offensively, and puts in a good defensive shift too.

I think United fans underrate him. While I agree that he’s not as good as Ronaldo or Messi, unlike those two, he’s willing to sacrifice himself for the team.

He’s much more of a team player than other players in his bracket, and sometimes that manifests in a lack of goals. However, his overall contribution to the team is immense, as goat demonstrated today.

  160. Red4ever says:

Lol guys I can tell ya why can’t we keep clean sheets coz we are wearing table clothes as our kits,,,,

jokes apart if we get vida,,rooney,,RVP,,nani,,valencia,,in form for the madrid game we will fucking tear them apart ,,,,and the reds go marching on on on !!!!!

  161. NBI Red Onion says:

People wanking over Berbatov – who is not our player, but an opposition player – he was shit and kept losing possession – he was easily dispossessed every time – and struggled to get the ball out of his feet, kept flapping his arms and killing his team mates morale by bitching instead of encouraging a side already short on confidence, he was rarely in position and did not bother trying to get there – to say like some idiot above that he has a touch that puts our players to shame is to be a fcking moron and an insult to our players – did you see Giggsy stop a high ball deal in the air and bring it down, have you seen what he can do last few games – e.g. half volley cross field pass to RVP, at 39 he has a better touch, vision and ball control than Berba.

Berbatov is massively overrated, if he was an ambitious player he would have gone to Italy. He has no passing range, he often lacks composure in front of goal, he is slow, he is very easily dispossessed by good teams, his positioning is awful, he is predictable. There is no one in our current side I would put him ahead of. He would still be 5th choice striker and he would not even make the bench at United with good reason, defenders have never been scared of him, we are a stronger team without him – fact.

  162. NBI Red Onion says:

Also Valencia on current form will get destroyed by Madrid. Maureen will set his team up to play a disciplined tactical game and Valencia is being shown out of the the game by weak teams right now, failing to beat a man, can’t buy a cross.

    For me against Madrid:

De Gea – Rafael, Evra, Rio, Vidic – Nani, Carrick, Ando, Giggs – Rooney, RVP.
Bench: Lindy, Pea, Smalling, Jones, Kagwa/Cleverly, Young, Scholes.

Also the problem with playing Giggs and Scholes in the middle is that neither are defensive mid’s and Scholes cannot be relied upon tackling wise to do what Carrick does though his ability to win possession and break up play is often underestimated.

  163. NBI Red Onion says:

@ samuel – agreed. Ando is made for the Madrid game if we keep him fit – I would put him ahead of Cleverly for an away game as Cleverly is behind him in terms of assists and picking those killer passes as well as defensively, and against Alonso – who Ando has played against – Ando’s runs would be more effective and less likely to be intercepted – remember how he used to have played like Stevie me in his pocket and how he handled Chelsea when they were not reduced to squabbling with ball boys.

  164. NBI Red Onion says:

That said I think SAF will go with a defensive 4-2-3-1 or 4-5-1 against Madrid away with RVP leading attack and fancy nicking a goal off them on the home return leg.

    DG, R, R, V, E – Carrick, Jones – Young ,Rooney, Nani – RVP.

  165. Red River Red says:

“Chelsea when they were not reduced to squabbling with ball boys”

    LOL

  166. fergie is the boss says:

never saw the game, as I was very busy today, but with rooney getting fit, hernandez inform season, what have we learnt?

The side can cope without RVP, in rooney and hernandez we have a goalscoring threat that is still devastating. Rooney is getting fit, he gets into double figures, hernandez is on course for a 20 plus goals this season. RVP will get to the 30 mark. So it shows we have 3 outstanding strikers

If we lost all 3, then its a different story, but has long as we have 2 of the 3 strikers fit, with welbeck a good fit, we have all the tools in the business to win title number 20

  167. Redhot Concepts says:

Jones best position n best game to date! Well done lad!!

Guys, how many seasons have we let this broken record play? Isn’t it time we just said ‘thank u nani, you’ve been a good servant to the club but we feel your skills are better utilised elsewhere’. Fergie has already realised the man will never be the complete product hence moves for Young and Zaha. So guys remove your tinted shades and really seee what Nani is about, The player with promising talent and potential but will never be the finished article.

    @Costas

Sone people just wants to justify themselves for God knows why. Who cares whom they rate, we know who was the player doing the business for us when we got No.19, and this view is shared by the thousands who clapped for him. People who appreciates

  173. iced earth says:

  174. iced earth says:

nani could be a a key in the 2end part of the season

  175. DreadedRed says:

Agreed Costas. The fact that some people use this game to justify their anti Berbatov bias is pathetically obsessive. They claim to be ardent United supporters, but actually they only support their own personal agenda. They are selfish. Not at all suited to being part of a club, they get more satisfaction from being proving their armchair views than from the Club’s achievements.

  176. Costas says:

    @Marq

Not to mention the manager and Ryan Giggs who also paid him compliments this week. Like you said, he’s appreciated by those that matter.

  177. Costas says:

    @DreadedRed

Well, they wanted him to fail when he was one of our own, so this doesn’t come as a major shock. Like I was telling you last week mate. Those that hated him have been finding it harder to let go. For me personally, it was just like seeing Andy Cole or John O’Shea back at OT for the first time. A joy to see them back, but beating them was the main priority. Hopefully the result will be the same next weekend. Limiting Berbatov like we did yesterday will be the key.

  178. DreadedRed says:

Costas – it was a joy to see Berbatov back at Old Trafford. He has been Fulham’s best player this season, and we shackled him well. As you say mate, in the league game containing him again is paramount. If we succeed, his haters will say that he is crap. If he does well against us, they will say that he only shines at smaller clubs. If he scores a hat-trick in a 3-0 win, they will say “typical Berbatov, scores all his goals in 1 game”

I don’t watch a lot of non-United football, but if a match has one or two ex-United players in it, I’m far more attracted to the game. (Obviously this excludes Tevez, Heinze, Hargreaves, and other players that openly turned venomous against United)

  179. DreadedRed says:

“People wanking over Berbatov – who is not our player, but an opposition player”

So, we shouldn’t appreciate opposition club’s top players; but NBI Red Cunt can pour hatred and derision on our players. He prays for the death of our players, so that team-selection is more aligned with his personal wishes. He’s NOT a United supporter, he is only a NBI-Red-Cunt supporter. Selfish, deceitful, repulsive and cancerous; he is not one of us.

NBI Fried Bunion is a selfish cunt.

The FA Cup 5th round ties will be revealed just after the finish of the Oldham v LFC game. Probably around by 6pm tonight.

I have heard some really daft lads banging on about how they want to draw City or LFC etc.
While we still could handle it, One does need to point out that the 5th round matches will be held 2-3 day after we play Real Madrid Away.

Furthermore, If we have to play a replay, our current strong scheduling position over the next 4 weeks could evaporate.

As of now, Real Madrid play Barca and United 5 times within the next 4 weeks, including v Barca 2 days before our match at Old Trafford.

Imagine putting us in a similar position, with say City 2 days after Real Madrid, and then possibly again a week later

Tasty ties, no doubt about that, but completely daft if you are “hoping” for it.

Lets see if he will ask United fans not to show their appreciation towards Ronaldo when he lines up against us in a few weeks. Dear me, it’s not even about appreciating an opponent’s top player. It’s about respecting the club’s history. Of which Berba is a part of as much as it pains some.

I said it yesterday mate, but I’d bet on us getting a tough away draw in round 5. Mainly because the Bernabeu game is 3 days prior. And watch Chelsea draw Luton at home…

  186. The redderdevil says:

    Samuel – United we stand.

    Bollocks hah!
You must be scouce, living on past glory. Nani shone on that single season alone and if u don’t know it,its because of the quality players around him thay allowed him to shine. In comes new season ,new players ,different strategy. and the boy/now a man can’t cope.
Cut your losses and release the player. I know this script coz av seen it before regarding one macheda. Nani will be offered a new deal, be turned into a bench warmer in league games, then be dropped from the bench to carling/capitak cup games and by then we’ll have forgotten about him. We’ll be reminded about him when we read an article in a corner of some sports page telling us how he’s going on loan to the serir A.
If he is wise he better make the move now.

  187. denton davey says:

NBI @ 4:11: “Ando is made for the Madrid game if we keep him fit – I would put him ahead of Cleverly for an away game as Cleverly is behind him in terms of assists and picking those killer passes as well as defensively,”

Why not play BOTH Anderson and YoungTom ahead of/beside MC16 ?

Up front RVP and TheWayneBoy are locks if they are fit so the final decision comes down to Chicharito leading the line and creating a sense of havoc among RM’s central defenders OR Nani playing with flair/skill OR AV7 playing with discipline (and helping) LittleRedRafa against CR7 OR Giggs rolling back the years.

If fit, then it’s CaptainVidic and Rio in the middle, shielded by MC16, PLUS give NinjaEvra a “watching brief” against Di Maria the diver.

  188. DreadedRed says:

The redderdevil – calling Samuel a ‘scouse’ is moronic. He is obviously a United supporter through thick and thin. You claim to be ‘redder’ than us red-devils; yet Samuel is patently far ‘redder’ than you.

Costas – their hatred for some parts of our Club and it’s history, far outweighs any love that they may feel towards our Club. Their ‘United’ is actually all about themselves. Just like Berbatov, O’Shea, or Phil Neville’s return’s to OT, I’ will welcome Ronaldo, and want him to fail against us.

  189. DreadedRed says:

Brentford 1:0 Chelsea at half time.

Torres looks even more emaciated than usual. On his last legs. A Lampard error led to the goal. I wonder, will he be press vilified, a-la de Gea? No chance.

  190. Daniel88 says:

    … vs Madrid.

    ……………De Gea

    Rafael Evans Vidic Evra

    ……………..Carrick
    …….Cleverley Anderson

    Nani ………………… Rooney
    ………….Van Persie

  191. FletchTHEMAN says:

Costas, Cheers mate. Would be great for the Lutons and Brentfords to get a big payday. Well deserved for them. Let’s see how it falls out.

For our fans, one could home for a short trip to a stadium where we get a load of tickets. But if it’s a minow, then prefer another home game. Not bad if it was Luton. Used to have great games v Luton in the pre EPL days.

  192. Costas says:

    @denton

Fergie might also want to play Tom on the wing like he did at Spurs. That would allow him to start Kagawa along with Carrick and Anderson while Rooney plays on the other wing. Of course, Ronaldo’s presence could also mean a start for Young since he’s the best option in helping out a full back. Plenty of dilemmas about that line up. Just don’t make it to defensive. It won’t work in our favor.

    @DreadedRed

Ha, looks like I’ve jinxed Chelsea. It would be something if this scoreline stayed as it is.

  193. DreadedRed says:

No jinx there Costas, bastards have equalised!

  194. Ash says:

Haha Commentators are so happy cheshit have scored. Its a shame that they are european champions

  195. Costas says:

    @DreadedRed

That was a double jinx actually! I shouldn’t have opened my mouth the second time.

    @Fletch

Personally, I’d rather have a home game after a European trip. Even if it is a against a top side. I wouldn’t mind Luton of course, but going by the Crawley game 2 years ago, it will be anything but a formality.

  196. FletchTHEMAN says:

Ash…… Cheers mate, not sure where I said I hoped or expect an ‘easy draw’.

All I am saying is it would be daft to “wish for” a tie vs one of the top teams in the league.

Even if we get Luton, or Brentford (as Chelsea are finding out just now) those teams will play for their lives.

Not easy games…… but not the “champions of europe” or the league. Just sayin!

  197. DreadedRed says:

    Penalty for Brentford!

  198. Ash says:

    Lol chelsea behind again

  199. DreadedRed says:

    Brentford 2:1 Chelsea

Triple-jinx Costas! Let’s leave it there, aye?

  200. Costas says:

    @DreadedRed

Yeah, I am not commenting on that topic again!

  201. DreadedRed says:

Brentford 2:2 Chelsea – full time, and a replay.

  202. wayne says:

Rent Boys got their First team playing can’t take care of a Div 1 team lol, just shows you how stupid the FSW is plays the first team except the keeper who was horrible, how the hell does that make any sense

  203. Costas says:

Ah, the magic of the FA cup. When a team like Chelea manages to get a draw at Brentford.

  204. FletchTHEMAN says:

Cracking goal from Torres. Torres and Rafa found their level playing the Bees.

FACup throws a spanner in the mix. I love the FACup. Old school, but that’s me.

  205. DreadedRed says:

wayne – fsw is an absolute blessing mate. It’s so good to have him back!

  206. DreadedRed says:

A shit tie would be leeds away, wouldn’t mind them at OT though.

  207. wayne says:

Dreaded yes he’s priceless I fucking love the guy lol

  208. Ash says:

If mata gets injured chelsea are fucked big time.

  209. denton davey says:

Costas @ 14:11: “Ronaldo’s presence could also mean a start for Young since he’s the best option in helping out a full back.”

In terms of “helping out” against CR7, I’d rate AV7 first – strong and fast; Ashely Young second – fast and “responsible”; with Nani last/third. From what I recall of Ronaldo’s glory years at UTD, it’s important to squeeze him outside – always outside – so he can’t shuttle sideways and shoot from the corner of the penalty box. He really plays as an inside forward and the team’s benefit from his extraordinary skill is lessened when he’s not allowed to shoot or when he’s pushed outside to become an “ordinary winger”. I reckon that AV7 is tough enough to do that job.

  210. drv3011 says:

so i was watching the sports news…and FSW said before the brentford game he feels he has done enough to secure a long term job at the chavs…lol…..sure….

  211. Marq says:

Ronaldo usually starts from the left, so its a more natural position for Valencia. Ashley Cole showed that if you can match the pace of Ronaldo, you pretty much have half the job done. So if you ask me about a choice between Valencia, Clev or Young on the right, I’d go for Valencia, even if he offers nothing for attack at the moment.

Seeing how Sir Alex handled Anderson the last time he returned from injury, I don’t see him starting a game soon. Clev & Carrick in the middle with Rooney dropping into midfield, like how we play against the big teams this season. Kagawa would probably get the nod ahead of Nani purely because he tracks back more

  212. fergie is the boss says:

denton davey – I would pick the same side that beat shitty against Madrid, with a change or 2 at the back

    DDG
    rafeal ferdinand vidic evra
    carrick cleverly
    valencia rooney young
    RVP

We have the balance of defense and attack, and plenty of width.

I still think you’re coming out with bollocks though, Give up the gibberish.

  214. Tope99 says:

I am currently wishing we get a good result away at Bernabeu that will keep us comfortable a bit at least at OT.The Madrid game has been on my mind so bad since Wednesday.I’ll have to start going to Church regularly.

  215. Voice of reason says:

The redder devil reminding me of the clueless muppet sitting behind me yesterday who seemed to be in the wrong ground – the Nani haters are usually welbeck haters and young and park lovers as well – wish they would fuck off and leave the club to people who understand football as it used to be – sadly too.many prats at OT these days

  216. wayne says:

Well the way i see it no need for any haters support the lads who wear the Red so if you’re taking sides either way then having a go at someone exactly the same as you,one word that fits

  217. Tope99 says:

Hey !!!!!!! I just remembered Usain Bolt should be in the club by now. What happened ?

  218. fergie is the boss says:

Tope99 – united made their decision quicker than Boltz SPEED

  219. DreadedRed says:

Tope99 having opened the door to more Bolt transfer window horseplay, I’d suggest that horse bolted in a sprint when he kicked kicking and chose to run.

  220. fergie is the boss says:

PPl go on about we have to keep Nani, well some are, the real target is keeping javier hernandez, who I feel has been one of our most underrated players by many outsiders, they rave about RVP, and then michu, javier Hernandez has been the real star this season

  221. jigpig says:

    Come on Oldham…..!

  222. WeAreUnited says:

    @fergie the boss

    YES YES and YES

javier Hernandez has been a superstar this season, so underrated, just look at his stats, and after that look how his all aroung game ahs improved.

    I think now he’s a total striker + a poacher.

Let’s preach more about Chicharito who is slowly becoming a legend in United. A long way to go, but he will reach his 100 goal tally if he keeps playing 90 minutes every game, which will be hard, but he has fought himself back to the top

    GO CHICHA!

  223. Marq says:

Wow, that’s something new. Nani/Welbeck haters = Young/Park lovers? Some people really have good imaginations

  224. WeAreUnited says:

    @marq

    haha, yeah :D

who i nthe earth hated Park? he was our engine and big game player, I doubt that people hated him.

As for Young, well people haven’t welcomed him greatly to the team, but the lad has proven himself.

Nani and Welbeck part of the team and part of those that can change the team in instant.

    Letäs support the whole team!

    Everybody loved Ji Sung Park.

  225. denton davey says:

WeAreUnited @ 17:59: “javier Hernandez has been a superstar this season”

No more than RVP or MC16 BUT that’s “walking in the tall cotton”. Chicharito is probably my favourite player on this current team – Anderson (with all the frustration and stop-starts to his career) might be second. Unleash these two guys – and get Nani feeling his mojo – and UTD will be HUGE FUN to watch.

fergie is the boss @ 15:37: “I would pick the same side that beat shitty against Madrid, with a change or 2 at the back”

If you’re going that route then you’re willing to sacrifice the attacking play of Nani/Anderson for the defensive “responsibility” of AV7 and AshleyYoung. My big worry with playing Valencia/Young is that in an away CL-match it’s really important to score so that you don’t end up @ OT having to keep a clean sheet; the away=goals rule really does create some incredible complications which are best avoided by scoring in the away=match. OT isn’t a “fortress” nowadays.

  226. fergie is the boss says:

denton davey – we technically put 4 past shitty with that team, you cannot have all attack, but rooney and RVP gives us plenty of cutting edge, valencia and young not only gives united the balance, they help protect the fullbacks, and they can still cause other teams hell. You cannot think how nani and anderson etc played, they got to play, I still think those 2 have a long way to go before they should start in Madrid. And the side that beat shitty, was has attacking as ever, I still think cleverly and carrick is by far united’s best pairing, and they suit europe better, cleverly can nick the ball. Anderson is good, but cleerly and carick are better at ball retention, which is key in europe. Its better than playing RVP so isolated

  227. WeAreUnited says:

    @denton

this season best players have been those you mentioned, Carrick RVP, then add Rafael and Chicharito. They have been fighting for every single ball. Cleverley has also started to become one of them. Not to forget Evra. These players have made us tick.

    @FITB

I also would go almost with the same team, it depends on their form, Just that Nani instead of Young, you ask me why Young and not Valencia? I bet my ass that Valencia will be playing cause SAF will want to get Ronaldo off the game, and Valencia is a tough cookie for anyone.
Nani would put that pressure on the left, cause Arbeloa is their weakest link and usually fouls players, and with Nani there, he and di maria has to be on their toes. Kagawa would be an option if we want to control the ball.

    ————————DDG——————————–
    Rafael——–Rio———Vida———–Evra
    ———- Carrick — Cleverley / Ando
    Valencia/Nani———–Rooney/Kagawa————— Nani/Young/Kagawa/Rooney
    ————————-RVP———————-

  228. NBI Red Onion says:

Dreaded Red aka the banned @sm*rtalex & albertro*s – shussh psycho before I write to Scott and tell him the freak he has blocked is back.

And Costas, I used to have some respect for your opinion, but the quality of your comments is now quite shit and you have turned into quite the snide shit stirring bitch. Silly bitch.

  229. NBI Red Onion says:

    @ Denton

I think we need fullback cover away at RM, so can’t see all 3 of Carrick, Ando and Clev starting. Between the 3 I prefer Carrick and Ando as they are stronger in defence and Ando is better attacking in my view. On his day that is.

  230. Costas says:

Thanks for not respecting my opinion NBI. I consider it a major insult when scum like you respect me. Cheers!

  231. fergie is the boss says:

NBI – united do not need someone attacking through the middle, we have rooney valencia and young for that. I think cleverly is better suited to carrick, than Anderson. So for me its the balance, and the side that beat shitty, I feel will start

  232. Marq says:

    @Costas

When people start attacking others for their opinion by name calling, you know they have something they desperately want to prove. For the rest of us, there are just the facts which are agreed by the majority =)

  233. ben says:

Nani will stay. Haters always hate. =)
