I don’t like it one bit. This is an almost identical lineup vs Liverpool and we got dominated that game…haven’t we learned anything from using the same ineffective lineup over and over again? What’s SAF trying to prove? For a man who likes to rotate his squad, he sure as hell is sticking to the same group of players that don’t perform well together.
Evra? How many more mares until he’s finally dropped in favour of someone more deserving of the position?
And Carrick and Scholes midfield just don’t work. Giggs should be a sub! Jesus Fergie…

  3. Georgejoseph says:

Scholes and giggs together . Hope the middle will not be over runned

  4. Spare says:

Ah here, Cleverly or Anderson should have been rewarded after their mid week shifts. That being said, I haven’t managed a football team to 12 league titles.

  5. Marq says:

    Scholes & Giggs starting together….

  6. butlersrevenge says:

Surprised to see Nani if punch rumour is true, though I suppose there are few other alternatives.

  7. Costas says:

    Bleh.

  8. Andooo says:

Fergie is seeing something I’m not, every week his line up is just baffling

  9. Redslevin says:

Not happy with that starting 11, but hope for the best.

  10. Mahesh says:

    Ugh…hate it…absolutely hate it…

  11. Mahesh says:

I guess SAF has started to treat spurs as a big team, and play his ‘play it safe, but never works’ team/formation…

  12. dannysoya LOVES USAIN BOLT says:

Yikes. Scholes, Giggs and Carrick in the middle. As slow as you can POSSIBLY GET. Just hope they aren’t bulldozed over. was expecting at least clverley or ando. Sometimes I just leave the libe ups to fergie cuz only he knows what hes doing when he picks the team. Anyways COME ON UNITED!!!! WIN THIS SHIT!!!

  13. T4M says:

Another abject performance on its way.Looks like SAF forgot to take his meds this morning.Absolutely stupid line up.Funny situation when we play a better midfield in the fucking league cup.

  14. Mahesh says:

After the LIverpool game, and the disaster that it was in terms of performance, how do you pick the same team again, and not reward the likes of Ando, Rooney and Cleverley for the mid-week show?

  15. Utd4life says:

Giggsy and Scholesy together again. Wow.

  16. edhardy says:

I’m not happy with the line up but will support the team no matter what
    United will never die!!!
    United forever!!!!!

  17. Marq says:

Giggs will be busy covering with Evra against Lennon, Nani won’t help much against Bale. If they press Scholes, we could well be in for a struggle…

  18. big bud says:

jesus giggs starting again wat the fuck is that about? amazing servant over the years but the mans a liability by this stage!

  19. ARUN says:

realy strange team. was expecting ando and clev……. i think we may need our subs to win this game

  20. Mikael says:

Gutted for Clevs and Andersson after Newcastle. The old man is playing a dangerous game… but hope he does what he usually does and proves us that he’s the genius.

  21. MancunianRed says:

Amazed at that line up, can see us struggling/losing this match. Cleverly Anderson will replace Giggs and Scholes at 65 minutes.

  22. TK99 says:

well i have this feeling, that this game will be difficult. Our best game this season was against Newcastle and both Anderson and Cleverley are on the bench. Both Valencia and Young are not available and it means we have to be creative in Midfield ..GGMU

  23. Costas says:

You would think that Wednesday showed the way. The midfield needs more energy in a game like this. But in terms of experience, Carrick and Scholes are useful. However, don’t know what kind of message it sends that Giggs on this form starts week after week…

  24. dela says:

    Baffling. Just baffling.

  25. edhardy says:

    T4M,
Will you just show some respect? It is a strange line up but that does not mean you can just insult him.
Hope the boys put up a spirited performance!

  26. Ash says:

Playing at home with this line up is baffling. Giggs and scholes together is not a good thing. How come cleverley is not selected and giggs is selected. Nothing against giggsy but cleverley should play. Sorry but I am a bit frustrated with chelsea , city and liverpool winning and us starting with giggs and scholes.
    Let us win

  27. Dela says:

Worse defending of the weekend award so far this weekend is a tie between Koschelny (spelling?) and Riise, for gifting wins to Chelsea and City and making complete asses of themselves in the process ;-)

But on point… Not a bad line-up… little concerned about Nani (tho he had a great record against spurs), delighted to see Carrick and Scholes in the middle and prefer Giggs start on the left instead of Welbeck, who just doesn’t belong there so far.

  28. Dev says:

I wonder if it’s you funny cunts that watch the players day in day out during training or Sir Alex.

Fuck me, all these arm chair motherfuckers.

  29. iDon says:

The old man has lost his head …. again! Hope for a win

  30. Saad says:

The upside is that if and when Anderson or Clevs come on, the midfield will get a tremendous boost in energy and speed that might put Spurs off.

  31. tisya says:

hope rooney partners vp at the 64th minute and ando replaces scholes in the 70th min.

  32. Costas says:

No one needs to watch a training session to realize that with Scholes and Giggs in the starting line up our midfield is slower and a lot less combative. We’ve seen it happen numerous times this past year.

  33. meatnpotato says:

@ dev, giggs is a 37 year old who hasn’t got the legs or midfield experience to dominate a fast and free flowing spurs midfield. Why play an ex-winger when we have 2 perfectly good midfielders on the bench in anderson and clevz? And if fergy doesn’t trust either of them to play in a game like this why are they at the club? Just baffles me

  34. Dev says:

No one needs to watch a training session to realise that Anderson can’t last a full 90 minutes either.

  35. Rich hotspur says:

Doesn’t matter what team you put out (even 11 school
boys) & United will def win. It’s the ultimate banker
game for you. Spurs try & attack, the game
Opens up & it’s the usual hammering.
Its truly embarrassing & if I was AVB I would
Forfeit the match & give u a 2-0 win every season
At least none of our players will get injured.

  36. big bud says:

id go with ando instead of giggs regardless of weather he can last the full 90. giggsy just dont have the pace or control anymore. he does hava an eye for a killer through ball now and again tho

  37. Ash says:

    Dev

So if we have different and better opinion than yours you call us cunts. Like you we also trust Sir alex but you need to take off your red tinted glass and accept that Giggs starting in midfield is not right thing to do.

  38. Costas says:

    As if Giggs can…

  39. Costas says:

No scratch that. Giggs does last 90 minutes. He just doesn’t do a lot most of time. At least Anderson runs up and down the pitch until he runs out of energy.

  40. Dev says:

At least he has the experience Anderson doesn’t have.

Better opinion? We shall see in the next 90 minutes.

I’ll gladly eat humble pie if it doesn’t work. Until then, keep the faith and reserve judgement until at least the first half.

  41. imran says:

whatever the manager’s decision, all this player will do 100% on field, BELIEVE in them :)

  42. dannysoya LOVES USAIN BOLT says:

Dev please explain the logic behind playing two 36 + years old players in midfield against a midfield that is very fast and young and strong. When we have two natural midfielders both under the age of 26. what message does it send out to those players? Plus the fact that one of them had ALREADY RETIRED and yet he STILL gets the start majority of the time. It really is baffling but I hope we can win the game.

  43. Costas says:

Not saying we can’t win the game with this lineup. But it’s about time we started expanding our options in midfield for these games.

  44. dela says:

How many times does this midfield lineup have to fail before Fergie stops using it?

  45. Esteban says:

Isn’t giggs going to play on the left (due to our missing width players in the absence of valencia and young)? This is not playing giggs “instead” of cleverly or anderson. I would like to see anderson/cleverly get more games as well, but it is not really shocking that SAF is playing carrick/scholes in middle three days after cleverly/anderson played 90 vs Newcastle.

  46. Dev says:

    @dannysoya

I’m not Sir Alex, proclaims to be, or pretending to be superior. So unfortunately, I cannot explain the “logic” behind his decisions.

But i’m sure he has his reasons.

  47. kel says:

    any live links?

  48. Santa Claus says:

Wow thats brilliant defending , why wasnt nani tracking back the left back ?

  49. bekalugetachew says:

this is bullshit why an earth SAF wants to play ando and cleverly partenership that is more combative and more crative than aging midfields(schols and giggs) but am not sayingthey shouldn”y play but they shoudn”t start the game like this that need good momentum.and am dissapointed with rooneys absence,he is not kind of player to sit back and watch a game without involving in it whatever it is GLORY MAN UTD.. but next time SAF must think what his contenders have in their hand(either water or fire) thanks

  50. RedBorneo says:

Bored game..! Nothing shoot on goal for United in first 20minutes..!

  51. Santa Claus says:

    So where is Dev?

  52. RedBorneo says:

    Fucking 2nd goal spurs..!
Walker vs Giggs , Bale vs scholes..? Brilliant..!!

  53. Dev says:

    I’m right here.

    Got a problem?

  54. Rob says:

Can’t believe how shit we have been playing last few games, would rather give the youngsters a go, RVP must think what the fuck club have I joined, we seemed to have regressed and should of got dembele sick of hearing commentators say we’re losing it in midfield, I actually hope It’s a cricket score so fergie can be under no illusions were not good enough in midfield

  55. Santa Claus says:

nothing just checking …. before ordering a humble pie

  56. Dev says:

I’m old enough to remember going in 3-0

    It finished 5-3.

It’s not over until the fat lady sings.

By the sounds of some of you miserable cunts, you actually want United to lose.

  57. almunabau says:

we are played a fantastic game all wat we need is dat we need to start anderson or cleverly istead of ryan giggs

  58. johnbosco obiora says:

i don’t know what Giggs and sir alex are still doing in Man united, i want then to go, in this kind of game, he put giggs what happens to Rooney, Anderson, Cleverly or welbeck?
