  1. Tha Herbalist says:

feel Ando shouldve started do to tha physical nature of this game

  2. bayoRed says:

    Diamond??

  3. Hans says:

Come on lads, we need another big performance to send a message to the rest that we mean business.
    I predict a 3:0 win !!!

  4. bayoRed says:

Attack, attack attack attack. Stoke is realy going to be pressed. Watchout for Rafael and Valencia combo.

  5. bayoRed says:

    Subs anyone???

  6. bayoRed says:

De Gea against Crouch! “shiver” “shiver” “shiver :)

  7. Ice Cube says:

Why no Cleverly? instead of Scholes. Is he injured? I’m really impressed with Cleverlys energy, i think it’s what we need. I think we’ll win, I’d just prefer we played players like Anderson and Cleverly over Scholes.

  8. Costas says:

    Christ, where’s Tom?

  9. bayoRed says:

SUBS: Lindegaard, Anderson, Giggs, Hernandez, Nani, Powell, Wootton

  10. NIgerian Red says:

Tom needs a break else, he’ll break.

  11. parryheid says:

Expect the win okay, but our problem wont go away it’s still lurking in the background.

  12. dannysoya LOVES USAIN BOLT says:

yet AGAIN Cleverley and Anderson Miss out. Scholes shouldn’t be starting games. Is tom injured? what of Fletcher or Anderson? Kagawa?

  13. Jesmonta - Malta says:

there is Braga next week in the champions league and than there is Chelsea. It would be better for Tom to be rested. If smalling was fit today , even Evans would have got a rest. I`m a bit surprised not to see young on the bench at least.

  14. Costas says:

    @Danny

At least Ando is on the bench. Tom and Kagawa aren’t even there. It would be quite funny if the reason behind that selection was to rest them. Especially when you consider that Carrick is starting.

  15. van the man says:

i really really dislike carrick and scholes in midfield, esp agst people like walters.
    and yes where’s clevs?

  16. Rohan_19 says:

First time i got 10 out of 11 starters correct..

Surprised to see welbeck start.. Probably for the height

  17. van the man says:

no diamond this week boys, cant wait for it, IT COULD BE A MOVIE

  18. LucasUTD says:

    Chelsea are really fucking good.

Fast, young attackers who have skill and can pick a pass. Fucking hell.

  19. Proverb says:

I think the midweed game might have influenced the line-up
I thought out of everyone clevz was a certain to start, but was wrong still is a great line up though
Here hoping we do them buggers a new one, still optimistic of a win only still do not know how many fingers I’m going use in counting them goals, vanpersie and wazza to score, scolesy to dance around in MF

    Go go united!!!!!!

  20. Costas says:

Yep, probably no diamond this week. Which means Welbeck on the left though. Ugh.

  21. van the man says:

midweed games huh Proverb, that’d be a sight hahaha

  22. van the man says:

    so stoked for the match

  23. Ice Cube says:

For all their abilites, Scholes and Carrick are not mobile enough. The game is moving on, as chelski are showing and fergie is still having trouble of letting go.

  24. Hans says:

So difficult to accept that we lost to a shit team like Tottenham.

  25. .The WitchKing of Angmar says:

    Cleverly please.
These dipshits chelsea just won against Tottenham. 7point gap then. We have to win today.

  26. Georgejoseph says:

Need three points today Chelsea are looking good fuck!

  27. .The WitchKing of Angmar says:

Cleverly should absolutely be the first name in the central midfield.

  28. dasilvatwins says:

really do not like seeing scholes and carrick in the midfield anymore, from attacking great, but from a defensive point of view, not so great. still fergie knows best, would love to see more of powell

  29. Costas says:

Needless to say next week’s game is just as must win as this is.

Hopefully Cleverley won’t be rested at the Bridge too. God knows he needs a rest in his declining years…

  30. LucasUTD says:

Dear God Welbeck on the left.

Surely, Nani is better than that Fergie

  31. Proverb says:

:D meedweed oh no, fucking typos

  32. Hans says:

We cannot afford to loose at Stamford bridge next week. Despite being gifted two goals today, the rent boys looked strong. Having said that, the start of the second half at WHL today showed that they do not cope well with high tempo and big pressure.

  33. dannysoya LOVES USAIN BOLT says:

I agree with everyone’s sentiments on this. There is ZERO mobility in the middle. two 30 plus year old players in the middle. Playing a centre forward out wide when we have TWO fit recognized wingers. I just hope we can at least get the win.

  34. Ice Cube says:

We’re not even a quarter into the season, anyone who needs a rest needs a new career. Tom is a fit lad, unless he’s got a knock, he should be starting. That must be the only reason he isn’t playing.

  35. dasilvatwins says:

good point @lucas i feel nani needs to be given the confidence in these sort of matches, where aerial threat is stokes main outlet. keeping the floor on the ball against agile players makes it difficult for them.

  36. Danizizu says:

De Gea wi do a job……….GGMU

  37. IAFPOO says:

What’s with Kagawa out? Ferguson the rotation man?

  38. VALENTINO says:

Nice line up but one person is missing; Kagawa. He is better than welbeck, I don’t know why fergie keep using welbeck, and why no cleverly? He is better than carrick

  39. Proverb says:

Chavs playing some decent stuff, that boy oscar is a gem already copping just fine with a tough league that is the premierleague
But still think its a honeymoon, they won’t keep up for soo long

  40. .The WitchKing of Angmar says:

Well, I must disagree. I personally wouldnt want Nani starting any of our games cause he has a way of irritating the shit out of me. I prefer Welbz or Kagawa
On the left in d absence of Young. Get me the win guys. I got my money on this.

  41. Vidic says:

    C’mon United !!!!

  42. AntiScouser says:

That butcher Charlie Adam is playing, which can only be harmful.

  43. mig78 says:

    That wasn’t an offside.

  44. Proverb says:

@antiscouser The last time I checked
Only saw one bugger that possesses no skills whatsoever, I don’t rate him
    Only liverpool

  45. redbilly says:

Lack of concentration. Come on lads.

  46. Costas says:

No more than what we deserved sadly.

  47. Sushi says:

    Wtf! What’s Rooney doing ugh

  48. AntiScouser says:

    3:0 win prediction abandoned?

  49. Dela says:

If I wasn’t a United fan I’d laugh at Rooney’s OG, since it looked so intentional. It’s early, We’ll win.

  50. Hans says:

We are too slow, too predictable!!!

  51. redbilly says:

Dont worry Antiscouser 2-1 to us

  52. Rohan_19 says:

    Our first touch is awful

  53. Sushi says:

So lets get this straight we do really well with Newcastle so fergie decided lets go back to scholes Carrick?

  54. Rohan_19 says:

Need hard fucker in defence to shut crouch up

  55. Proverb says:

By the look of things we haven’t fixed our defensive lapses 12 minutes??????? Cluj 12 tottenham 6 or something, saints early goal was conceded too fuck

  56. dannysoya LOVES USAIN BOLT says:

Getting outplayed by STOKE CITY on our home ground. SMH.

  57. Proverb says:

    Oh fulham too

  58. Rohan_19 says:

That move was our performance in a nutshell..
Ferdinand brings the ball out of defence, no one to pass to, passes to rvp who’s offside

  59. Ice Cube says:

I stuck here not able to watch, but it’s sounding like Fergie has lapsed again and picked the wrong side. If he insists on making the same errors time and again, he’s starting to act like my Grandad. Being one nil down can happen, getting out played in the middle is another matter. Even great teams lose, but they generally out play the likes of Stoke and Spuds. We are getting done over in the middle by the likes of Fulham, when that happens and it keeps happening, it’s time to send them off the retirement home.

  60. meatnpotato says:

proverb, dont forget the fulham game where we conceded in like the 3rd min or something…

  61. Hans says:

Cannot believe what I am seeing. We are being dominated by Stoke at OT.

    We are fucking clueless upfront!

  62. theredderdevil says:

Welbeck can’t score to save his life

  63. swordsy says:

Seriously…this seems painful. Given my Season Ticket away for a few weeks and am stuck unable to find a decent internet site….help!

  64. Sushi says:

Fucking Nani is perfect for this game get welbeck off

  65. Rohan_19 says:

Welbeck looks seriously out of sorts..

  66. Hans says:

Why are we trying to be too clever upfront. Come on lads, play it nice and simple!

  67. altyred says:

No cleverley at all, scholes and carrick in midfield, welbeck on the wing. I respect fergie more than anyone but this lineup is so, so wrong.

  68. AntiScouser says:

Stop being so negative. All we have to do to win this match 3:0 is: (1) prevent Stoke players from exiting their dressing room at half time, (2) make sure the FA don’t uncover the plot.

Seems easier than playing beautiful attacking football and winning with ease like in the old days.

  69. Hans says:

DdG has kept us in this game so far!

  70. Georgejoseph says:

De gea is saving our arses

  71. meatnpotato says:

why are we playing a striker on the wing when we have a world class winger on the bench in the shape of nanilinho!!

  72. AntiScouser says:

Concentrate on the positives. At least Cleverly will be fresh for another batch of internationals in March.

  73. Costas says:

    That’s more like it.

  74. Hans says:

    Fucking hell!!!!

  75. Toms says:

    Van Persie is such class.

  76. D'GING€r PrinC€ says:

    ROOOOOONEYYYYY!!!

  77. Georgejoseph says:

    Great cross van Perse

  78. dannysoya LOVES USAIN BOLT says:

Good goal Roo. Now GO FOR THE KILL FFS.

  79. mig78 says:

    Rooney 2 – 0 Stoke! Damn!

  80. altyred says:

@AntiScouser Unless the reason he’s playing today is he’s picked up a mystery injury in training.

  81. redbilly says:

    Mig- ironic

  82. Proverb says:

    Where’s consistency, drive and determination
Where’s tom cleverley, where’s our marquee signing/kags what’s going on, why tinkering

The only think keeping me balanced at moment is the news that milner got an early shower. Red card for Milner. Man City are now down to nine men, or ten if you include the ref

  83. altyred says:

city have a task ahead of them now at the Hawthorns, let’s hope mad mario gets himself sent off too!

  84. Proverb says:

    Where’s consistency, drive and determination
Where’s tom cleverley, where’s our marquee signing/kags what’s going on, why tinkering

The only think keeping me balanced at moment is the news that milner got an early shower. Red card for Milner. Man City are now down to nine men, or ten if you include the ref as I’m write rooney scores his second

  85. meatnpotato says:

mig78, its actually rooney 1-1 rooney!!

  86. altyred says:

@Proverb ‘ten if you include the ref’

Come on mate let’s not sink to the level of bitter ABU conspiracy theorists. If the ref was in City’s pocket he would hardly have sent Milner off would he.

  87. redbilly says:

    unlucky danny

  88. Georgejoseph says:

    Good god welbeck

  89. dannysoya LOVES USAIN BOLT says:

Please SOMEBODY teach Welbeck how to finish. This is getting frustrating.

  90. Proverb says:

    Writing*

  91. Ice Cube says:

The comentary on here is better than the Beeb’s website. They are shite at reporting football.

  92. bounce says:

If rooney scores again will he be credited with a hatrick?

  93. Dela says:

RvP so unselfish, it’s ok to have a crack lad, we know your strengths!

  94. redbilly says:

    Thats more like it Danny

  95. redbilly says:

    bounce 15:36- no a twat- trick :-)

  96. dannysoya LOVES USAIN BOLT says:

Come on Robin. Be selfish sometimes. We want you to be selfish. That was an easy goal for VP.

  97. mig78 says:

    that’s paul scholes for you…

  98. mig78 says:

    delicious! VP!

  99. redbilly says:

    RRRRRRRRRRRRRRROOOOOOOOOOOOOOBBBBBBBBBBBBIIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNNN

  100. Costas says:

    Cool.

  101. Georgejoseph says:

    Thank fuck for RVP

  102. Dela says:

Paul Scholes is a fucking legend, I’d take him over a million of United’s newest intolerant, impatient fans any day of the week.

    Well done RvP.

  103. BerbaGod says:

Anyone got a link to the game ?

  104. Rohan_19 says:

    Woooohooo. He can do that

  105. dannysoya LOVES USAIN BOLT says:

Maybe we should take Scholes off before we go down to 10 men. that’s three HORRIBLE tackles.

  106. altyred says:

Thanks for the updates guys, agree with above posters’ sentiment, absolutely terrible updating from the BBC ‘live feed’ (more like 5 minutes behind), I can’t watch the game as am working so thank fuck for this site!

  107. Rohan_19 says:

Please substitute scholes.. Enjoy 11vs 11 football

  108. theredderdevil says:

Can we get a replacement for welbeck?

  109. D'GING€r PrinC€ says:

Van PERSIEEEEE!!!HE SCORES WEN HE WANTS!

  110. Costas says:

Some great attacking football, but some awful defending again.

    Kill off the game please.

  111. Dela says:

strange first half, don’t think Scholes will come back out, bit hot headed today for some reason, maybe he hates Stoke as much as I do ;-) If he replaces him though, it would have to be Anderson IMHO. Giggs can’t do the role Scholes is in the team to do.

  112. DEVILisRED says:

Scholes is one tackle from being sent off. Hope he will not appear for the 2nd half….i can see us scoring more goals while stoke chase for the game. Need not take unnecessary risk with scholes

  113. altyred says:

Scholes off for Ando at HT, we really need to kill off this game and we need to keep 11 men on the pitch to do it. Sick of this comedy defending, we’re quickly becoming a laughing stock at the back and it needs to tighten up. I foresee some defensive purchases in Jan especially as I have serious doubts about Vidic ever returning properly from injury.

  114. Rohan_19 says:

Mixed first half.. Really bad for the first 25 mins, since then the energy has been good…
    Van persie, amazing performance.
Scholes, dangerous tackles and great passes, needs to be substituted before he’s sent off.
    Rooney — good
Welbeck — needs to work on finishing
    Carrick — efficient
Evra — couple of poor touches but good otherwise.
Ddg — excellent saves to keep us in it

  115. Georgejoseph says:

Scholes needs to come off. Rafael is just getting better game by game.

  116. Rohan_19 says:

Need another goal to kill this off and to not get a red..

  117. mig78 says:

As much as i love the ginger prince. I’d agree for him to be substituted. Already on a yellow and like dannysoya LUB said, 3 horrible (TM) tackles. Inviting for a red really. Ando or even young Powell please.

  118. altyred says:

@meatnpotato Cheers for that, been looking for an alternative that’s a bit heavier on detail than ESPN, this looks good. Thanks

  119. LucasUTD says:

    Dear God I hate Welbeck.

    Please bring on Nani

  120. wayne says:

Our attackers look really fucking good, interchanging and moving all over the place

  121. Ice Cube says:

the defense, if like previous matches will be undermined by Scholes in the middle. He just cannot get around quick enough. It leaving us exposed, especially when we are not playing classic type wingers.

when defenders get pulled out of position, someone has to fill. If they are not capable of putting the yards in and not quick enough, that leaves spaces. That’s been one of the reasons Evra has looked poor in defense. He’s often on the attack and out of position with nobody like Park or Young used to do and cover him.

  122. Vidic says:

The match is being shown on sentanta ireland if anyones intrested

  123. AntiScouser says:

Rafael is the best. I know Jones will get a run once he gets back, but I’m enjoying Rafael while I can. We’re a much better team with Rafael on.

  124. mig78 says:

    get in welbeck! yeah!

  125. Walata says:

    Goal!

  126. mig78 says:

    Welbeck haters…well take that!

  127. Costas says:

Well done Danny boy. Silcence your critics.

  128. Georgejoseph says:

Even welbeck Could not miss that

  129. altyred says:

@AntiScouser Agreed, he’s turning into a proper defender and have been really impressed with him this season. Let’s keep it quiet though we don’t want the papers picking up on it, building him up with unrealistic expectations and then destroying his confidence when those expectations aren’t met.

  130. altyred says:

    SUPER DANNY

  131. wayne says:

LucasUTD you’re a fucking moron try watching the game and understand what’s going on

  132. Proverb says:

Haha!! Get in danny, I was soo reluctant to bash you it payed off
    Fuck hem haters

  133. Costas says:

Our 25 goals so far this season have been scored by 15 different players. Variety. 8)

  134. Ice Cube says:

I used to bash Fletcher, only problem, everytime I did it he scored. He never scores that often, but guarantee if he was playing and I said he’s shit, he’d score 5 minutes later.

  135. Proverb says:

If Valencia lashed that one in on his left foot I think the end of days would be upon us

  136. altyred says:

    @Ice Cube

Then you have found your true calling in life, son. Fletcher’s recovery will be greatly aided if every time you have a go at him he scores. I know it’s hard but let the hate for Fletcher flow through you, it’s your duty to United.

  137. theredderdevil says:

Fergie shoukd introduce Hernandez. we could be 6 if all the
chances welbeck is wasting were converted

  138. Hans says:

Fucking hell Evra, why not pass the fucking ball. Is this Fulham game all over again?

  139. redbilly says:

Good lad Danny. WTF with the defence?.

  140. Ice Cube says:

@altyred maybe that’s his problem. I started praising him and he falls ill. ha.

  141. AntiScouser says:

SAF: “I’ll make sure we never lose the title on goal difference again.”

    Mad.

  142. Proverb says:

Is this everton all over again?

  143. dannysoya LOVES USAIN BOLT says:

Are we planning on taking this defense to Chelsea next week? LOL.

  144. Costas says:

No matter how many times the centre of our midfield gets sliced open with ease, we don’t seem to learn.

  145. Walata says:

    Rooney!

  146. mig78 says:

    Thats a hattrick! Rooney!

  147. Walata says:

    Hatrick!

  148. DEVILisRED says:

Wondering if rooney gets to keep the ball after the game.

  149. Robbo's red army says:

Can’t believe some of the comments on here.. And to the person who said “dear god I hate welbeck” we don’t need your kind of support. In the 80′s when we were shit we had the best support in the land,( still got the best away support mind) ……anyway they play in red so cheer them on. If not go support city. They need it!!

  150. altyred says:

Right. CAN WE FINALLY PUT THIS GAME TO BED AND STOP LEAKING GOALS NOW. Attackers once again on song but god DAMN it this defence will cost us the league if something doesn’t change.

  151. redbilly says:

Phew, Well done lads. If we stopped giving easy goals away we would be flying in this league.

  152. Proverb says:

    Hattrick ;) ;) ;) ;) :-P

  153. bounce says:

    Lol twat-trick then huh redbilly

  154. bounce says:

    Lol twat-trick then huh redbilly.

  155. mig78 says:

    Scholes out, Ando in.

  156. mig78 says:

Gee..Owen is getting ready to come on.

  157. Ice Cube says:

    citeh losing

  158. Costas says:

    Owen. :D

  159. Proverb says:

Icing on the cake, go shitty!!!!

  160. altyred says:

watch balotelli either score or get sent off now

  161. mig78 says:

That wasn’t offside again you fucking knobhead of a linesman!

  162. mig78 says:

Little Pea in for Welbred…i mean Welbeck.

  163. mig78 says:

    Yeah owen Costas…:)

  164. Proverb says:

Would really like to see a decent shift from Nani. Needs a good showing, has been utterly poor of late

  165. mig78 says:

Damn you Crouch! Tricking the stupid ref.

  166. mig78 says:

    owen nearly scored…

  167. Ice Cube says:

    citeh equalise

  168. Walata says:

I’d take RVP off & bring in Powell to solidify the midfield in the waning moments of this game

  169. Walata says:

Don’t want to jinx anything but DDG has looked pretty solid

  170. altyred says:

We know where our problems lie. Attack is unbelievable, but so is defence for all the wrong reasons.

  171. Costas says:

Not a game that will make us any wiser. The defending needs to improve ahead of the Chelsea game. But good job on the attacking side of things.

  172. Ice Cube says:

    Looks like 3 good points.

p.s citeh got a late winner.

  173. WeAreUnited says:

    a good second half performance.

Glad to see our strikers get the goals

Let’s keep it up United. Next is Braga.

    #IAMUNITED

  174. mig78 says:

    shit citeh scored again!

  175. dannysoya LOVES USAIN BOLT says:

At least we got the win. We MUST defend better. We are leaking goals for fun. And our midfield is non existent most of the time. What would it take to convince Fergie to stop starting Paul Scholes? PLUS Ten man city have won it at West Brom who will now proceed to play like their lives depend on it against us. SMH.

  176. altyred says:

Fucking Edin Dzeko, the vital-late-goal-scoring cunt. Fuck him so much. Fuck

  177. orez says:

Well it was a good win, but we need to defend better and take our chances. I know we scored more but we should have had more and sooner. Some of our players need to improve their games.

I can’t fucking believe that pathetic West Brom lost to 10 man (after 23) min city . Seriously? How bad can a team be?

  178. Ash says:

Great victory for us as expected. But my happiness got less when I saw West brom lose to 10 man city. Fucking can’t even defend against 10 men. I bet they would have given their life if it was against United.
Still a long way to go so It is good.

  179. mig78 says:

Shit, nobody dropped points tonite. Wait, Le arse game haven’t start. Rooting on you gunners, to drop points.

  180. RedBorneo says:

Carrick can’t creat a chance, We need someone can do batter than him in midfield..

  181. Rohan_19 says:

Why dont we start games 1–0 down ? Would save some time

  182. dannysoya LOVES USAIN BOLT says:

DAMN. Fergie is PISSED with Rio for not wearing the Kick it out shirt in the warm-ups. Here’s what he had to say on it “I am disappointed with Rio Ferdinand not wearing the t-shirt. It is an embarrassment for me and he will be dealt with.” UH OH.

  183. FletchTHEMAN says:

    Sir Alex Ferguson to BBC:

“I’m disappointed with Rio Ferdinand not wearing t-shirt. It’s an embarrassment for me and he will be dealt with.”

  184. redlad 19 says:

    3 points thank you!!!!!!

  185. MartyRed says:

Rio is fucked!! Just seen fergie speaking to mutv after the game. Happy with our attacking play though.

  186. FletchTHEMAN says:

3 POINTS, in a confortable win. Loved the attacking play. Really pleased to start this run of congested fixtures on a positive.

1 down 6 more in the next 21 days. Get in United.

  187. Proverb says:

Ouch doesn’t sound any good this!!
Does the scot still have vengeance at his age???
I only fear for rio :P
    I can imagine

  188. Hans says:

A win is a win, but there is still a lot to be desired in our game.

Why can’t we start matches like we did in Newcastle? Today, we could have easily been 2 or 3 goals in the first 20 minutes. We surely cannot play like this against better teams.

At times our attacking play is quite good, but we need to start leaking goals like this. Also we gave the ball away many times needlessly. The foul for their first goal was absolutely unnecessary. Then for their second goal Evra kept the ball far too long and that led to their second goal. When your strikers score four you should not complain but several tomes today we overcomplicated things.

    Bring on the rent boys.

  189. FletchTHEMAN says:

Marty, Agree, really not pleased with Rio myself. Understand it, but after the boss went on record knocking Jason Roberts and saying everyone has to stay on message. Very very bad move from Rio.

Wonder if he will be benched? Wow, that could really kick it off.
Jaap Stam anyone? Bigger than his britches??

  190. van the man says:

our strike force has to be the most tantalizing in the league currently, welbz and rooney bringing in their national teamwork and van persie oozing class.
defensively no complaints esp with how we dealt with crouch.
MIDFIELD HOWEVER, sometimes there seemed to be no one to pass to at all.Ferdinand and Evans had to drift into the middle so many times its embarrassing really.our brilliant attack is masking our midfield gaps.

  191. Costas says:

I get that Sir Alex had to remain consistent after his comments about Jason Roberts on Friday, but this has brought a lot of unwanmted attention on Rio Ferdinand ahead of next weekend’s game. And at the end of the day, it was Ferdinand’s choice. And a correct one at that.

  192. Ice Cube says:

I’m tired of politics getting involved with sport. I want to be entertained, that’s what football is supposed to be about. Wearing a shirt does not make ignorance go away and The Kick out crew can’t change the world.

Football is a way of getting away from all the shit the world has to offer, i dont want to be reminded of it, week in, week out.

  193. FletchTHEMAN says:

    Costas.
You are wrong mate. This is not a one man sport. This is a team sport. Rio can say what he wants on his own time. When he walks onto the pitch, his time is Uniteds.

Minute Rio thinks different, is the last game he will play in Red.

Rio best say sorry or he will be history.

  194. van the man says:

gentlemen lets not let fergie’s potential wrath on rio and how no one dropped points overshadow how good our goal difference is looking!

  195. samuel - united WE stand says:

Benched?, is that because united have a luxury of defenders fit at the moment?. Rio is a grown man and has a view that should be respected. Perhaps he diverted from the team unity which is probably a wrong move but i expect this issue to be dealt with behind closed doors and we will move on. This issue really is complicated, i understand why rio took the stance but i also get this could have been sorted in a different way. My conclusion is, No point getting all over-dramatic.

  196. Dela says:

Strange decision from Rio, clearly Fergie made it clear how he felt about it. Rio needs to be careful because he’s not exactly a youngin now is he? Fergie wouldn’t think twice about accepting a bid from the USA, China or Russia I’m betting.

  197. Costas says:

    @Fletch

I believe that Rio has proved he’s a model employee for the majority of his United career. Has always been respectful of the club. But that works both ways. And especially when it comes to matters of principle. You can force someone to believe and support something they clearly don’t. What’s next? The players will be told which political party to vote for?

Don’t know what the outcome of this will be. I hope Rio doesn’t apologize. Just fine him and get it over with. That will be bad enough. Heck, Chelsea weren’t this hard on Terry!

  198. Proverb says:

@piersmorgan: Disgraceful attack on @rioferdy5 by Alex Ferguson – total betrayal of his player. Rio’s bang on, the FA have been useless re racism.

I think sir alex was harsh there on rio, the lad must really be embarrassed, only classy lads will keep there character after such attack

  199. Costas says:

“you can’t force someone” I meant.

  200. parryheid says:

Who givea a fuck whether a t shirt was worn or not,it’s the managers own personal crusade let him wear the t shirt if he values it so highly.Maybe he should be putting his energies into sorting that midfield.because that is a worthy cause, that will bite us.

  201. Proverb says:

If Rio had told Fergie that he’d wear one, then fair enough. If not, Fergie is bang out of order

  202. FletchTHEMAN says:

    Costas,
Bet there are a few others that thought their opinions mattered a damn. Stam, Beckham, van Nistelroy.
    All history.

This could get ugly and there is absolutely no reason for it. If Rio had felt like this, should have talked to the boss about what to do.

This was bad. I back getting racism out of sport and all walks of life. But Rio was wrong here.

  203. WeAreUnited says:

    @Ice Cube

I am laughing at your comment, cause I’m similar.

When I get angry at a player and start bashing him for about 1-2minutes, then suddenly they produce hahah

Today for example. I said damn that Valencia hasn’t done anything particular.. 1 minute later he assisted that goal hahah.

  204. Costas says:

    @Fletch

Ok. We’ll have to agree to disagree on that. Personally speaking, I support a player’s independent thinking if it’s for the benefit of the club or football in general. Rio falls into that category. The others you mentioned just looked out for their own agendas. Hey if it means Rio’s United career ending, I think he’s gone out with the bang. I’d rather remember him leaving over that instead of Bale or Kightley exposing him. :P

  205. Proverb says:

Anyways, why are we going on about a facking t-shirt when we just bettered stoke 4-….

  206. FletchTHEMAN says:

Costas….. Hahaha Cheers mate. But the Bale/Knightly thing…… never going to happen. That was a one off with the United line out of position.

  207. samuel - united WE stand says:

Some do get carried away whenever controversial stuff pops up. all over the net and beyond, i read “he could be sold” or “benched” but it’s a matter that can be sorted out. Don’t see rio being wrong for standing up for what he believes in, he should be commended for standing his ground in a society of sheeps that only follow bandwagons. At the end of the day, he’s a pro player employed by a club and he’d be expected to accept the rules given to him by the manager.

Personally, i struggle to see what wearing t-shirt would do to eradicate discrimination against colour in the world. Ignorance are ignorance, their simple minded mentality has been passed on down the ancestry line and it will continue to do so. Pathetic.

  209. Danizizu says:

Rio is a big lad.NO one should force him against his will.If he is dealt with as the manager suggested, I’;; be very disappointed

  210. Rohan_19 says:

Shawcross was quite solid today, think we have a first uy option on him..
Wouldnt be so bad if we brought him in during jan..

  211. Costas says:

    @Fletch

Yeah, truth be told, it wasn’t just him. The problem is how players are allowed to reach our penalty box so easily. We are a LOT more open in our approach at Old Trafford. And I can see why there are worries ahead of the Chelsea game, but our midfield will definitely be more packed for that game.

  212. Costas says:

    @Samuel

Spot on with your comment about the topic in general. It’s how I also feel. As for why this matter is blown out of proportion, I am guessing it’s because Fergie commented on it in public. I hear that there was a number of players in other grounds that also refused to wear the shirt. I suspect that their clubs refused to make a deal out of it.

  213. denton davey says:

dannysoya @ 16:56: “What would it take to convince Fergie to stop starting Paul Scholes?”

    THAT is a million-dollar question.

My view was the TheGingerNinja was pretty dire for the most part today; to be really effective he needs to play about ten/fifteen yards further forward rather than “sitting in his rocking chair” and passing the ball sideways or sending those all-too-predictable cross-field diagonals that really don’t fool anybody any more.

The score was 4-2 but their two goals were flukes – a direct, headed, own-goal from TheWayneBoy and that odd pinball that Kightly was able to steer into the goal. Stoke weren’t really well defended in the first quarter of the match, having several pretty good opportunities and leading up to their first goal BUT their second goal was well-against the run of play.

On the up-side, I thought that NinjaEvra was really good and Jonny Evans played a “strong silent-type” of defence. RedRafa, the little tiger, just gets better and better.

All of UTD’s forwards had mercurial performances – some great moments interspersed with some comedic ones.

A win is a win = three points. But that performance was very much a mixed bag. To me, this was both unconvincing and worrying for a couple of reasons – Stoke’s defenders are pylons so they were undressed by moments of magical skill but better defenders will not allow such “easy” goals (yeah, I’m looking at you, Ryan Shawcross – what was he doing for UTD’s first goal ? he’s no “answer” to UTD’s defensive manpower issues) and the distance between Carrick/Scholes and the front four is troubling – more drive from midfield (Cleverley/Anderson/DarrenFletcherinho) would provide better link-up play).

  214. Rohan_19 says:

Fergie ought to revert back to the diamond fornthe chelsea game

    Ddg
    Rafa rio evans evra

    ——-carrick——–

    ——–kagawa——

    Rooney rvp..

We need rafael and evra to bring their A game to stop attacks from the wing..

  215. Rohan_19 says:

Rooney to drop back , kagawa and clev to take up wings to make it 4-2-3-1

Hope it works. Would love nothing more than beating those cunts at their shit bridge

  216. wayne says:

The way the Terry incident was handled a absolute farce, wearing t-shirts before a game after what went down with him is a fucking joke and i don’t blame anyone for taking a stand. In Rio’s case it was his brother getting the abuse and Rio paid by being left out of the Euros while cunt Terry went, that was a total disgrace

  217. denton davey says:

Wayne @ 18:22 – I totally agree with ALL of what you wrote.

  218. AlphaRS says:

Why the feck should Rio wear that shirt if he doesn’t want to?
The Kick it Out Campaign is all hollow lip service and bullshit, because when a racist incident happens feck all is done about it. Terry said the words “Fucking black cunt” to Anton and as a result Rio misses the Euros for football reasons while this cunt goes? Then he doesn’t dispute the charges so gets fined a weeks wages and a 4 match ban. A feckin 4 match ban. Nothing more than an extra game worse than a bad tackle with a red. Feckin pisses me off.
Jolean Lescott hasn’t worn one for 4 years and nobody give a feck about that. Since the FA couldn’t confirm whether Emre calling him a “nigger” or a “negro” they did feck all about it. He reported it and look what happened. Feckin disgrace.

  219. Ice Cube says:

all this over a T shirt. There are two things that do not belong in sport, one is religion and the other is politics, because everyone has a different views on both.

The FA are wrong, KIO are wrong, the club is wrong and so is Rio. KIO is not going to make a jot of difference to an ignorant redneck. Footballers are not role models, parents are. That’s the responsibilty that comes with shooting a load up a woman without a rubber and her’s for letting it happen.

If we all stopped the media, the government pigeon holing everyone into little groups, we wouldn’t have an issue. The media and governments are using divide and conquer to control the population. It’s a well worn trick. Everyone is babbling on about Rio and a T-shirt or that moron Terry, while the real issues are happening that matter.

Racism is ignorance, t-shirts do not stop that, educating people does.

You cant go wrong with a bit of George, he’s funny too. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4jQT7_rVxAE

Also United have conceded the joint 2nd highest number of goals in the top 15 Premier League clubs. A problem there me thinks.

  221. FletchTHEMAN says:

Is there any physical evidence that Lindegaard is fully fit? Even Johnston took the posts in the last Reserves game.

Not to put too fine a point on it…. but, Amos and Linde crocked?

  222. AlphaRS says:

    @Ice Cube
How is Rio wrong in all of this?
Rio missed out on The Euros and his England career is pretty much over because John Terry called his brother Anton Ferdinand a “fucking black cunt.” So Rio can’t see the point of wearing a tshirt that he doesn’t believe in. That makes him more of a man for standing up for his principles regardless of what SAF has said. Rio is not a let down.

  223. Marq says:

Centre midfield gets sliced again, so what’s new?

Just a small matter of Mata, Oscar & Hazard to come

  224. Ice Cube says:

@AlphaRS I think he is wrong because he’s backed KIO before and what he did today was political statement. The club policy, via the manager was to wear the shirt. It wasn’t the time or the place to make that statement. He has a magazine, he could use that to make a point which doesn’t involve the club. In my opinion he has cause a problem, when there was a better way to go about it.

  225. wayne says:

Not to worried about the Rent Boys good chance Sir Alex will resort to the diamond formation away from home,at the moment Utd are playing open free flow football so the team is going to concede goals but it’s exciting. The way Rooney,Danny and RVP were interchanging was good stuff. For me i’d rather win games 4-2 than watch the team grind out 1-0 wins. With Sir Alex signing Kagawa and RVP in the summer the statement was made,i for one don’t mind it.
Just one thing this isn’t a knock against Hernandez but not sure he has the skill set to play in the style Utd did today he looked a little out of it but that could also be a lack of match fitness

  226. DOn says:

I’m with Rio on this one! I think the problem this shows is the lack of communication between Sir Alex and his players…before making that declaration why would he not have a conversation with one of his senior players who has been affected by the whole mess? A heavy handed approach by SAF will only put him in poor light…if you are a young black player would you be wanting to go to United knowing the manager could give a rats arse to support you in something like this? I think RIo has every right to protest…and the FA should take it as a signal the fact that many black players refused to wear those shirts that more needs to be down about racism in football… the EPL is better than SPain however slaps on the rist for JT’s behavior was a shambles…

  227. wayne says:

Ice Cube yeah Rio backed it before all the Terry nonsense,it’s just a fucking farce after that,Rio was in his rights and i don’t blame him one bit after whats happened

  228. The Devil in Me says:

Well on the t-shirt issue,i would have taught the boss & rio had talked about it before the press conference.Rio going against the manager so publicly will certainly incure the manager’s wrath.rio, someone who taught being labelled ‘choc ice’ wasnt racist.somehow i feel he loves being in the news for such things

    and on the game

great win but suspect defending.we can’t continue conceeding like this.am at a loss how vulnerable we are in midfield even against stoke.

  229. stepgen says:

do we actually actually know if Rio had said before the game that he wasnt going to wear it. i have heard people say he told SAF that he was going to so going back on his word could be why SAF has said he tat Rio embarrassed him. We need to wait and see what is actual full story before making informed judgment on this unlike media outlets such as bbc and talksport

  230. mansuy united says:

could someone please email me the code for hte offical ROM fantasty football league on epl.com?

  231. Adam Leszczak says:

    * First of all, what are we trying to accomplish this season? I think priority should be winning the league back from Shitty, figuring out where we stand with out midfield, figuring out the perfect combination of utilizing RVP, Rooney, Kagawa, Anderson and Cleverly, Fletcher, STICKING to it, and letting them gel together.
    — Whether Cleverly and Anderson are our new midfield NEEDS to be answered THIS season. We don’t want to be here next season wondering. Let them play every fucking game, or as much as possible without them being completely wasted.

Sorry, but we are just not good enough to win the CL league.
If we TRY to (which just won’t happen) compete for both CL and EPL we won’t win anything this year again.

** I understand we needed to reset some players for Tuesday, but wrong lineup personnel today again.
Sorry, but we can’t afford to play Scholes/Giggs anymore unless we’re up 2:0 / 3:0 and we want to see a game out and there’s 15 minutes left. Even when Scholes is playing now, it’s the same predictable play of a 50 yeard ball to the wings.. we need to keep the ball on the ground and move quickly through the midfield if we are to get anywhere this season.

*** Scholes could have cost us lots today, he should have been replaced by Powell after that second tackle. Can’t wait and hope to see more of Powell.

****Still have the same opinion on Wellbeck. Yes, he finally scored today, but his poor decision making and wastefulness can cost us the title. (i know I’ll get some wtf are you talking about on this one, but I’m sticking to my option that he needs to be loaned out for a year)

****Chelsea is flying in midfield this season. City are playing hard ball, if we don’t focus on EPL exclusively, without sounding like doom and gloom, we will be lucky to finish top 4.

  232. Sparkz says:

If Rio told Fergie that he’d wear the t-shirt and then decided not to….then that’s wrong, and its similar to what Suarez did to Dalglish last season. That causes embarassment. But tbh….I don’t think that’s the case at all, Rio doesn’t seem like he’d delibrately disrespect the manager like that. Seems like Fergie just didn’t bother asking Rio…..or he did ask him, Rio told him he wouldn’t wear it, and Fergie tried to force his will onto him.

I have to say, I do think the Gaffer is in the wrong here. Wearing the t-shirt is a choice, and if Rio, like some other black players (Roberts, Lescott) doesn’t wish to wear it….it’s crass of Fergie to try and force it onto him. I was actually taken aback by his comments yesterday about Roberts, I thought it was pretty heavy handed. Today’s events are just a bit of a PR disaster if you ask me, and it all stems from what Fergie said in the press conference yesterday.

Also, I’m not sure Rio’s issue is with Kick it Out, more with their funders/partners…..the FA. After all, Kick it Out sat with the Ferdinands during the trial so they offered good support. The only issue Rio could possibly have with them is that they didn’t criticise the FA’s lenient punishment (not wanting to bite the hand that feeds them, as Scott said on Twitter)

  233. Sparkz says:

Oh and also…..correct me if I’m wrong….but back in 2005, didn’t Scholes, Neville and Keane refuse to wear anti racism t-shirts?

Back to the match, I was impressed with our fluidity going forward. Glad Rooney and Welbeck finally got the goal that their performances lately have deserved. A bit concerned at the way teams can really hurt us through the middle though, and its because our pairing of Carrick & Scholes is too passive.

We NEED energy and mobility in there. I’ve said it before, we need to wean ourselves off Scholesy….he should be used from the bench IMO, and the likes of Anderson and Cleverley need to be given as much exposure as possible.

  234. dannysoya LOVES USAIN BOLT says:

I am totally behind Sir Alex on this one. Rio used to wear the Kick it out T-shirts until the JT and his bro incident something that had NOTHING to do with Kick it out. All he has done since that incident is go on twitter rampages and get himself in trouble for endorsing someone else’s potentially racist comments. If he wants to make a point not wearing a t-shirt is NOT the way to do it. Why didn’t Patrice Evra not wear the t-shirt as well if he wanted to make a point? Kick it out has been trying all it can with a shoestring budget to tackle this issue in football for years. Now that they are getting some buzz in the papers is the time for the start players to show their backing for the cause and join forces to properly address this issue once and for all.
SOLUTION? Rio needs to cut down on twitter time and apologise to kick it out cuz he is in the wrong here.

  235. FletchTHEMAN says:

Danny, Spot on son. Am lossing respect for some pretty fast today. Rio completely lost proper perspective today. Let himself and let Sir alex down.

If he did so after telling Sir Alex the opposite, as some have suggested, then there is little positive to say.

    I am completely appalled.

Will never wear the United armband again if he can’t get his political thumb out of his United @rse.

  236. SHINJI THE NINJA says:

    Went today.
    Three points are three points.
Van Persie is unmistakably world class.
    Why no Cleverley ?
Is Danny Welbeck a left winger now? Was he ever a left winger ?so why play him on the left wing….again?

Three points is three points but I hate leaving OT feeling a bit deflated. To sum up, winning isnt enough for me what I want is to PLAY like Manchester United are supposed to play. It is simply no longer exciting to watch.
The second half against Spurs was what it should be like to watch Manchester United play. I felt better after that loss, than after this win.
    Something just isnt right.

  237. samuel - united WE stand says:

Away at chelsea. We’ll be playing trickish, crafty attacking playmakers and to combat that, united will need mobility and dynamism in there. It’s a game for fletch, anderson and cleverley. We need to match their intensity or they’ll slice united back four open. I see the diamond formation for this, we need to be combative, energetic and be solid defensively.

United have not won at the bridge for years, it’s a massive task trying to get 3 points, we would need a fantastic all round performance, starting slowly which has been a hallmark for united this season needs to be rectified. Can’t afford sloppy goals and we need massive fortune.

That’s just another game though, united have a very good side in braga coming over, really difficult tie. We need to jump hurdles one,at a time.

The positives mainly is the attacking side of the team. There’s no rigidity in it, united look free flowing and flexible. Welbeck, rooney and RVP are all technically gifted, all comfortable in any part of the final 3rd, constantly inter-changing and bamboozling the minds of defenders. I think the 3 of them bring memories of our attack in 2008, they floated around and were difficult to mark simply because non had a designated fixed position and all could provide moments of individual skill. The game today showcased that against a usually solid stoke side, the fluidity is encouraging to see, i hope more is to come.

Defensively, i though rio looked below the level expected of him, i can only hope all the controversy surrounding played a part, we need him at his best in the next couple of games. Has obviously lost that yard of pace, he needs more protection from the midfield and that’s not exactly scholes’ strenght, hence why he shouldn’t be starting games but his tempo controlling of the midfield has not deserted paul. Evans carried on from his heroic performance against portugal. Looks strong and distributes well, hope he continues that. Rafael has really stepped his game up, another good performance and he owns that right back spot. I remember someonr saying he should be dropped because the stoke are in town but he’s never one to get bullied, a little terrier samba star. A run of games is doing wonders, hope that continues. Evra played as wel.

Valencia, as always, the half man, half right wing predator. Bombed up all game and layed down an assist, he could be crucial with his power and speed against braga and chelsea’s quick playmakers.

De gea was a potential target against the height of stoke but he held his own, still needs to keep improving though. He’ll be tested massively in the next couple of games. He should be kept as number 1.

Anderson came on and put in a good 25mins shift. Looking sharper and judging by his comments lately, he’s realised he needs to work harder to maintain quality at the highest level. He’ll be hoping to start in the next games and i hope he steps up. His form this season is pleasing, needs to maintain that though.

Generally a mixed bag game, pleased about the attacking play and i hope to see big improvement on the defensive side. Smalling will hopefully return and that would be a boost.

  238. Wee Toms Ligaments says:

Perspective. In a 38 game season, some games will need to be won with a squad rotation and less than best XI. Stoke at OT is a game that requires all three points.

    Mission accomplished.

And for all you Welbeck haters, he can interchange with RVP up top better than Nani. Nani may have better winger skills, but Welbeck fits a rotating top 4 in a 4-2-3-1 better.

I think Nani is merely out there now to remind other teams he will be for sale in January. He is dire on the touch line, trying to hard to cut in, and hasn’t tracked back to cover until recently.

Once Danny starts hitting the net, Nani will not be remembered. And Danny will replace RVP in two seasons up top.

  239. wayne says:

danny you’re wrong mate kick it out is run by the governing bodies so there’s hypocrisy going on in regards to the Terry case and it’s obvious that is Rio’s point

Kick It Out works throughout the football, educational and community sectors to challenge discrimination, encourage inclusive practices and work for positive change.

The campaign is supported and funded by the game’s governing bodies, including founding body the Professional Footballers Association (PFA), the Premier League and The Football Association.

  240. Jay says:

Kenwyne Jones, Micah Richards, Lescott, Roberts and many others didn’t wear the t-shirts and the managers gave them that choice. Rio is a grown man and the issue has affected him personally so if he does not want to wear it, it is his decision. The tabloid had stated long before Ferguson made his statement that neither Rio or Anton were going to wear the T-shirt. Ferguson should of let the players decide. I don’t agree with Ferguson on this one, this is only a big deal because of what Ferguson said. None of the other managers have a problem with it so why should Ferguson.

  241. Wakey says:

Been busy so haven’t been around much lately but wanted to check what people thought about the Rio situation. I’m surprised at how many are critical of Rio’s actions.

Racism has never been combated by apathy and slaps on the wrists, the big things that have helped make racism less of a problem have been when stands have been being made. And wearing a T-Shirt when very one else is hardly making a stand as its something they are all forced to do. Not wearing the shirt may not be in the same league as nt giving up your bus seat but it makes a stand and Rio and the others should be applauded for standing by something they believe in. And the FA who are on of the main founders of Kick it Out did let all the black players down and Kick it Out let themselves down by not being critical of the punishment given out.

After all if Suarez got 8 games which is lenient in itself Terry getting half of that when his actions have had a much greater impact on others is ridiculous (the actions lost Capello his job, saw rio left out of the Euro squad and then seemingly his England career ended just to try and persuade people his Euro emission was for football reasons). Terry didn’t even have the foreigner excuse that Suarez had so when Kick It out didn’t critise it then its farcical (Infact As we found out with Rooney being caught on camera swearing is a 2 game ban per word so Terry should have been banned for 4 games WITHOUT the racist element)

Also are Chelsea just taking the piss. They didn’t wear the T-Shirts today but will wear them next week against United. That’s them just sticking the knife in especially when some of the players who will be wearing the shirts are the same black players who refused to back Terry (although they shipped most of those payers out, I would guess to make Terry feel more at home by only having white players, black players who will sell out their principles for money or black players who are new to the club so can be sold on the ‘conspiracy’ and ‘proven innocent in a court of law’ excuses

  242. Sparkz says:

Wayne and Jay – 100% spot on

@Samuel – Do you not think the diamond could be a bit of a risk against Chelsea? Coz it leaves us exposed on the flanks, where they have the likes of Mata and Hazard (although they do drift in a fair bit).

Also, I’m not sure Fletcher is ready for a game of that magnitude yet.

  243. United Till I Die says:

3 points and no new injuries, thank you very much.

Braga, Chelsea, Chelsea, Braga, Arsenal… these games could make or break our season. No more fucking about at this stage lads. We look in good form.

As for the t-shirts, this is a rare fuck up from a Manager who usually has his finger on the pulse. Baffled by people thinking Fergie is right on this. You lot need your head tested.

Do you think Peter Norman had permission to wear a badge? Ferguson is a phenomenon but he’s fucked up on this one big time. Im hoping he feigned sounding so out of date and out of touch.

The MOTD panel had Fergie sounding like a nutter and for once they had a point. Every other manager this side of the stone-age supported their players who refused to wear the t-shirt.

No other manager threatened their own player. The Media have done Fergie like a Kipper.

When I first saw the clip of Fergie banging on about Roberts I guessed those unnecessary words would be used against him. Sky Sports had been implying that Fergie’s rant had the backing of other managers but today proves that wasn’t the case.

Bottom line – nobody can’t belittle what Roberts is doing. If anything the “sheep” are the players and managers (black and white) who are happy to wear that meaningless t-shirt for a quiet life.

  244. samuel - united WE stand says:

Sparkz – they all mainly like to drift in, united need to stifle the threat. We need mobility to combat that and organisation too as their aim will be to drag united’s back-line around. The point is, united have to go there with as much solidity as possible in midfield. Fletch combativeness is ideal for the game but i can imagine carrick starting.

  245. Wee Toms Ligaments says:

Hopefully a 4-2-3-1 with Fletcher and Anderson the holding 2, Cleverly Rooney Kagawa the attacking 3 and RVP up top.

I believe you have pace and guile in the attack and steel to cover the back four.

I would run that squad out at the Bridge any day.

  246. Sparkz says:

@Samuel – I see your point. And if the midfielders on either side of the diamond have mobility (I’m thinking Cleverley and Anderson), they can move out to the flank if needed. Rooney can then drop a bit deeper and make sure we’ve still got bodies in the middle.

Essentially, I’d play the same front 6 that played against Newcastle, with the exception of Anderson in place of Kagawa.

    Belfast Red, here you go

Italian football outlet Tuttomercatoweb has reported that former Manchester United youngster Paul Pogba was advisedr by Arsenal and Manchester Cityr old boy Patrick Vieira to join Serie A club Juventus. Speaking to Italian Sky Sports after tonight’s 2-0 victory over fellow title contenders Napoli he stated thatr he admired Juventus due to their connection with past French players like Michel Platini and Zinedine Zidane but it was his discussions with Vieira that persuaded him to leave Manchester for Turin.
    r
He’s quoted by the Italian outlet as saying “Many clubs includingr AC Milan were interested, but I chose Juventus because it is the team of Platini, Zidane and Vieira. Players of the past I’ve always admired, I spoke with Vieira and he advised me to come to Turin.”

The 19 year old also had time to get a dig in about his former club and Alex Ferguson. When questioned whether he would get a congratualtions message for scoring a stunning volley for Juventus in their win againstg Napoli, he laughed and replied he didn’t expect one. The player then explained that he was now concentrating on doing well for Juventus and no longer thought about Manchester

“I honestly do not remember much about my goal, I saw my team mates celebrate and I looked in the stands to try and see some relatives in the stadium. Ferguson? Honestly I do not expect a message from him (laughs).

“I no longer think about Manchester. I’m now at Juventus and I want to do well with the Bianconeri.”

The French youngster left Manchester United in controversy after a drawn out saga with words exchanged between him and Alex Ferguson. The player has insisted that he left because of broken promises from Ferguson that he would get his chance in the first team but he felt he never did. Ferguson has always maintained that he was a Juventus player way before his contract finished.

  260. g-man says:

I said it before I say it again: Welbeck is an awful finisher with a poor first touch. even if he did score a nice goal today. He’d be more suited to the All Whites than an England jersey.

  261. Ash says:

Premiership is really heating up. It is very clear that 3 teams are competing this time for the tittle. If we have to win then we have to play very well. No complacency. Chelsea and city will do anything to win the league. It would be a great season to watch.

Would have liked to see powell get a run in yesterday. No point of playing scholes for 60 odd minutes when he was hardly performing. Powell is a better player than pogba. Pogba could become a great player but I rate powell. I know he is just 18 but he needs game. Yesterday was an opportunity.

I don’t know how to feel if we sell nani. Always rated Nani. Maybe his attitude is pulling him down but I still would keep hold of him . Did I hear right that he would be sold for 15 Millions. 15 millions! Fucking joke. Unproven players are being sold for 25-30 millions. Nani is a proven player and one of the best wingers in European football. WHy sell him so cheap. 25 millions for me if we are to sell him. I won’t buy a winger but I would spend that money on a Midfielder. A spanosh midfielder would be great, Seriously we need more spanish players. Isco looks promising. Why not buy him before other club starts bidding for him. It would be better to spend money on young upcoming players. I will still keep hold of nani atleast for 2 more years.

  262. Ash says:

    g-man

Thats the problem with guys like you. We should be patient. He is a tremendous talent who is just 21. Just wait and watch how he develops. We should be giving more chances to our home grown players. Patience is the key to success. Danny looked great yesterday. He is linking up nicely with RVP and thats what we need. It is a team game where every player should combine with other players to help the team win. Youa re right his finsihing still needs some working but that can only come with experience. He should play as many games as possible. Cleverly should also be playing many games . I hope he starts against braga and chelsea.

We have always had high expectation from nani and he fails to live up to that expectation. We don;t expect that much from Young or Valencia but whenever Nani is playing we expect him to play like ronaldo and thats where the problem lies. He is not able to come out of ronaldo’s shadow for both club and for Portugal. Nani is more skillful than Tony V and Young but we expect him to be skillful like ronaldo and thats not possible. Nani is no ronaldo and he can never be one.And its not only our fault but Nani’s fault also. He needs to be himself. Even though it may not be directly evident but I always feel nani is trying to be like ronaldo. Its no problem to copy the best but you should not forget your identity. Nani may be sold as we are no longer playing with 2 proper wingers. I want him to stay but when I think reasonably I feel its better for everyone if he leaves.

  268. dannysoya LOVES USAIN BOLT says:

Well Patrick vieira has always been a top class cunt so this is not surprising.

  269. Wee Toms Ligaments says:

Nani can win games by himself. And there lies the problem. The flow comes to a complete stop when Nani steps on the ball and attempts to “entertain” with thise ridiculous step overs and ill faited 1v1 moves.

Nani plays best when he plays quickly and unselfishly. He knows this. He admitted it in a MUTV interview. Yet he does not play that way. I do not see how he contributes more to the team when he refuses to beat the man in front of him and then deliver a decent cross.

Not to mention, Rooney may very well be the first person to help Nani clean out his locker come January. No love there.

  270. Marq says:

Of course Viera will tell Pogba to go, he works for City!

Anyway, thanks to that, we got Powell

  271. samuel - united WE stand says:

“ridiculous step overs” and that sums up what i thought, a player of technical skill is ridiculed for having courage. This nani debate is long drawn out, only a muppet would’ve expected him to be a “ronaldo”, two completely different players (one basically a forward with a free-role and a winger). I think if nani is driven/forced out then he’ll go on to enjoy a fruitful career in a league that appreciates technicians and flair. You’d think his career was done for with the constant belittling but at 25, i can only hope to see him flourish at whatever club that may be. Juve and ac milan want him, two giants of world football, i think they recognise his quality.

  272. samuel - united WE stand says:

Look, nani’s form has dipped for a little while now so can’t really back him up for that but what i would back him up for is that he’s a confidence player, he needs that encouragement and platform to play well but generally, if he has to leave to become the player then i won’t hold him back. he’s a match winner though and as he still dons the unitedd shirt, he could make the difference at any moment, in any game for united. Hope that’s the case.

  273. mig78 says:

As far as Pogba is concern, we Man Utd fans shouldn’t care at all.The football journo will continue to use him to flame us every chance they got.

We should just completely ignore him and any news about him.

He’s no different from Dong FangZhuo as far I’m concern.

In a couple of seasons time we’ll have a bunch of young and talented midfielders, that’s going to lead us for more glory.

The likes of ryan tunnicliffe and powell and petrucci to name a few.

Rightly or wrongly, United and SAF chose to re-affirm their commitment to Kick-It-Out.

As is his right, Rio chose to stand in the fire, as an effective display against Kick-It-Out.

Without SAF’s declared dismay, there is no fire, and no effect. Of course United will and must apply their chosen disciplinary reaction to Rio’s flagrant defiance that he so publicly (and sneakily?) cocked. No pain no gain, in this instance. Rio chose his actions BECAUSE it would draw ire. Now he stands in the fire, a bright and blaring broadcast of his ideals.

As a football club, we nurture and develop our own future. Be it players, fans, staff, senior executive officers, even our Board. Danny gets our unwavering support. A young lad when he signed on, it is every Red’s dream for him to succeed at United, for United. That he is a blood-Red, being as local as it gets, makes his success United’s success. Every bit as important as winning trophies. We are our future. We are Danny Welbeck, and he is us. We are United.

The Valencia of one or two years ago is back, and that is good news, given the options inside the box to turn service into goal ( RVP’s goal). And a word about Rafael, who is finally convincing me he can fill Neville’s spot. He was really good).

Finally, on a sad note. Hernandez will leave, . The Liverpool rumour is rubbish, even if stranger things have happened. But after yesterday’s match I am no longer convinced that he will not be transfered in January to toothless Arsenal, or some Italian team.

“He’s had a few opportunities to take on jobs but wanted just a wee bit of a chance to revisit the training ground again to get himself back into sync, which we’re happy to do because he was a fantastic servant to us. I don’t know what his long-term future is but, in the meantime, he’s helping out with the reserves.”

  284. odbpowell says:

I know Kagawa was rested because of his travelling and games for Japan, but I worry that SAF will lose patience with him and revert to a 4 4 2 with the same ‘get it wide and cross it in’ approach we’ve employed for years. That shouldn’t be allowed to happen. We have to work at developing this more fluid possession game, or else we’ll be shown up by the top sides when it matters most.

We need to find a way of playing Wayne, RVP and Shinji together — and getting the best out of them. That hasn’t happened quite yet, except for the second half against Spurs. I feel Shinji could prove most useful playing off the left with a license to drift inside onto his right.

You’re even more deluded for believing the comments you’ve just posted. His finishing needs work but he’s only lacking in composure which will come as he gains more experience and confidence. Close control/first touch, passing, hold up play, link up inter-changing around the box are actually welbeck’s strenghts. He’s inventive and his movement is getting better all the time. His work-rate is immense which in a Jipi way lays an example for the team to follow on the pitch.
Knowledgeable fans know he needs to keep improving, his composure especially. No one is over praising him or hyping him up except people like you that demand quick results from a developing player. It doesn’t matter if he’s manc or whatever, the guy has a great potential and if he puts in a good performance then he’ll damn well be acknowledged for it. The simple minded batch of fans who assume a player’s quality should be analysed with where they’re from. Kagawa suffered the same thing.

  286. Proverb says:

  287. mig78 says:

@ Believe, how ironic, your nickname and how much it represents you.

The believe most of us have in Welbeck has nothing to do with the fact that he’s a born and bred mancunian.

We’d still have supported any young players that SAF decided to groom. The support would have been the same if it was Macheda or Joshua King out there instead of Welbeck. Get behind the players, the team, especially the young ones because god you won’t realize how much effect it has on their confidence.

Once a player lose their confidence, then it’s going to be an uphill task to bring them back.
Torres and Arshavin are the recent examples.

Plus Welbeck’s has got huge potential. At the moment he seems to cock-up when it really matters, it happens in many players. He just needs to master the ability to keep his cool and make the right decision in those split second situation, he’ll come good.

If Arsenal can be patient with Giroud, I say Welbeck deserves much more from us fans.

As you choose your user name, put it into practice and Believe in our players. Welbeck will be a star performer very soon.

  288. samuel - united WE stand says:

Odbpowell – that “get it wide” approach has brought fergie success, pardon a man for using the recipe he knows has worked well for him but that’s an exaggerated remark as lately, united have employed a more expansive, fluid style in almost every game. Kagawa is not starting because the japanese has dipped in form when compared with his flying start. It’s understandable as the premier league is new to him, it’s all action and physically draining. Kagawa needs time to fully adapt, he’s said that in recent interviews, he’s a harsh critic of his performances. He keeps banging on about “delivering results” which is funny, you’d think he’s a bank manager but shinji has quality, he needa time and to.ve honest, players ahead of him are in better form. He knew how difficult it would be to get a regular starting role, he’s not guaranteed nothing. Needs to keep working and i hope to see him against braga.

    We are in awe.

  293. Marq says:

I think where Sir Alex is coming from is that they want to send the message out that racism is not accepted, and that wearing the shirt shows your support for the campaign. What Rio did was to show displeasure against an organisation which he deemed not doing enough. Sir Alex was looking at the higher cause, which is the campaign, while Rio looked like a kid rebeling against someone.

The more unhappy Rio is against the effort, the more he should throw his weight behind it, not give up on it.

Don’t get me throw, I feel Terry got off lightly compared to Suarez, but the punishment the FA dished out is still light years ahead of what UEFA & FIFA are doing, so give them some credit.

Congratulations to Pogba, I never had a problem with him – if anything i’ve been amused at the speed with which his ability and skill were written off by deluded Reds.

Pogba a shit player? You fucking WISH.

The truth is he was class when he joined and he was even better when he left. Why do you think Fergie spent years hoping he stayed in our midfield anyway?

Sour grapes aside lets be honest. How many years would we be waiting to see Pogba start a game against City so he could score a winning goal like his strike against Napoli?

I love the United Way – but its not the only way. Some of you fans forget that and it amounts to not respecting your opposition. We ain’t the only Giants in football, not by a long shot.

If Pogba was still at United he’d probably never start a EPL game this season. Instead, he rightly signed a modest contract at Juve and now he’s playing first team football and scoring in big games.

He was too good to sit in our reserves this season, and he’s proved his doubters wrong by starting huge games for Juve. Nothing worse than a deluded fan who denies a players ability.

Which brings me on to the topic of Nani.

I honesty don’t think United use him to the best of his abilities, and if leaves for Juve or Milan we will be taught a lesson in what you do with a young talented player like him.

Nani already plays better with Portugal, but is the Portuguese Squad better than our own? In my opinion it looks like we don’t know what we’re doing with Nani at times…

Worst of all there are top Italian Clubs queueing up to show us how its done, and thats more frustrating than anything Nani does on a pitch for United.

Needless to add I hope he stays here and proves his worth.

Im not gutted watched Pogba at Juve, but I would be if Nani starts backflipping for them every other weekend.

What is that observation based on fellas?

Spurs cut Chelsea open many times yesterday and WBA did the same to City, so why doesn’t anybody criticise them for conceding goals, losing possession in midfield, and coming from behind to win?

    Fucking hell, talk about giddy.

When United concede goals everybody reacts like its the end of the world as we know it. Bollocks. If Rooney, RVP and Welbeck on the same scoresheet doesn’t look “strong” then fuck knows what does.

I think it’s bollocks to assume he won’t start any premier league games, fergie is renowned for throwing youth in if they show right temprament/are ready. Pogba has a bad attitude common amongst younger players that will culminate in more sagas in his career. He’s one of those that demands a first team place without proving to the manager that he’s ready and he clearly hadn’t, he was close to the first team and would have challenged for a role this season. He played united about and probably wants to be one of those that says “i turned down fergie” at a point in his career. I think it says it all when you take vieira’s advice. welbeck is coming along nicely, his linkup play with rooney RVP and valencia is fantastic, he can go wide, he can chip in with goals, he tracks back, he fits into the brilliant fluent play in that attacking lineup. He is also a man for the big occasion, he scored some big goals, and he is doing far more than Nani is doing. And I have been a critic of him, but the way he has responded to the arrival of RVP has been sensational. Yes the goals are low, but its only october.

my fella, you made veery good comments, WOW.

Absolutely on point, and if someone disagree, they are DELUSIONAL as hell.

    VERY NICE: Every sentence agreed!!!!

I reckon for you all to read his 2 last comments and start thinkind deeper.

as for Welbeck. He is a star. shut up. He is 21, he’s no Messi, no one is. He will become our superstar. People want young players to play, whne they play you say they are shit, and still our Smalling, Jones, Cleverley and Welbeck are English internationals.

  301. United Till I Die says:

@Samuel – you know that post wasn’t directed at you, right?

Pogba wouldn’t have started any EPL matches this season imo. Powell has far more experience in England but how many EPL games will he start this season? Do you expect Powell to start against City or Chelsea at any point this season?

Thats the reason Pogba left – it wasn’t the money – he just had more ambition than other lads his age and he had much more faith in his own ability too. GOOD FOR HIM.

Im not gonna call him a cunt for insisting on first team football, I respect him for having the balls. Walking away from a Club like United can’t be easy, but Pogba did so like a seasoned vet.

Also mate, your comment about “fergie is renowned for throwing youth in if they show right temprament/are ready” is exactly the point im making.

I know how Ferguson develops talent – its unparalleled – but that doesn’t mean he isn’t prone to mistakes, as we all know he is.

Ferguson was right about Morrison not being ready, but Pogba is already starting for Juve on a modest salary, and he’s already scoring in huge games from midfield right now.

People made a big deal when Pog sat out a Juve game earlier in the season but what are they saying about the lad now? Fuck all, it seems – because his performance said it all.

Im not one for sour grapes, so I’ve got no problems admitting Pogba is class for his age. Thats why Juve chased down his signature and promised him first team football.

How many of our current youth players could go abroad right now and score in a huge game like Napoli? None of them, so it wasn’t bollocks when the media called his departure “a blow”.

Pog was far too good for our reserves and he deserved to start big games this season. So yeah, Fergie was completely wrong about Pogba not being ready for United.

But thats hardly surprising when you remember that Ferguson is human (lest we forget)

  302. WeAreUnited says:

And yes I know the fact that Pogba didn’t agree our contract offer, but if you were a footballer, you maybe wouldn’t either. ( And not an United fan)

Foreign players usually are not United supporters, all are not Chicharitos.
So if they don’t have a chance to play and see that they would not play for the team, they will want out.

That’s why we should be glad everytime when we get academy players like Welbeck. Who will stay here, no matter what, unless somethign drastic happens.

  303. WeAreUnited says:

    @United Till I Die

yeah people tend to forget that. And yes, Morrison was a cunt, who didn’t know what he had. He can’t be compared to Pogba.

And for people who say Italy is not a tough league, well that’s just biased.

  304. United Till I Die says:

    @WeAreUnited

    Steady on mate!

Cheers. Agreed on Welbeck, he has skills which cannot be taught imo – you either have them or you don’t and our lad has them in abundance. He deserves credit for what he does effortlessly

Compare him to Hernandez and they are like two sides of the same coin. Hernandez is the better finisher (by a mile) and Welbeck is the better Forward (by a mile)

Both players need to improve on their weak points, but I think its fair to say Welbeck will find scoring more goals a bit easier than Hernandez will find improving his all-round contribution as a Forward.

Together they are the most promising young Strikers in the league imo, so I don’t understand the criticism they both receive when you look at their contributions so far.

    - good finish by O-Shea!

  305. WeAreUnited says:

    @United Till I Die

and when you think about it, it’s better to have 3-4 different players than 3-4 same kind of players.

So having a clinical finisher, an Inzaghi kinda player who is a legend to the game and for strikers, is not bad business. How many titles he won to Milan?
Chicharito already helped us with one title? have everyone forgot that???

And then having a player like Welbeck, speed, technique and skill. IS not a problem. Then we mix them with RVP and Rooney. BOOOM!!!

peopel are blind and tend to forget things,

As for Nani, YES he has a dip, yes, yes and yes, we know that. But it doesn’t change the fact that he is one of the best here.
He has been for 23 years a very good player. Now maybe his time is up with US, HOPE NOT., but don’t go slate him. For everything he has done for us. ANd what he has yet to do and will do. BELIEVe THAT.

After 8 games, United are the only side with no draws. Long may it continue. That said, a point at the Bridge is no mean feat and keeps their league lead fragile. Ideally, we must expose Chelsea’s weaknesses to all, before their upcoming opponents start paying them too much respect.

Balls? I would call that delusional on an unproven player’s part. He showed good form but that was in the reserves. Stepping up against world class players is totally different to youth football. If pogba had more patience then i’m certain he would get games, fergie continiously waxed lyrical about him, it seemed only a matter of time before he gave the more experienced players a run for their money but he decided to go about it the wrong way, fucked the club about with his indecisive comments when clearly, he already had a deal completed with juve. He wanted to leave and well, no one can hold him back but my views remain, it’s not bitterness, sour grapes or whatever crap that can be conjured. Pogba is the type that needed to be got rid of before he got too big for his boots.

He scored in one serie a game and that suddenly means he’s the finished product?. You have got to be joking. He has talent but time will tell in terms of where he ends up. The manager is not perfect but i don’t think any fan actually have an idea about the development of youth within training e.t.c or if they’re ready and that was the case for pogba at the time, he needed to keep a little patience to prove he can handle the top level, it’s not like united’s central midfield is the strongest. Pogba is juve’s player though and i’d deem this debate irrelevant. We move on.

Re: Pogba – ppl are blaming SAF for his leaving but this may not be the case at all. Yes, he may be starting games for Jev now but how would you know that he wouldn’t have been starting games for United had he stayed on? SAF might have felt that he wasn’t ready last season and for young players, one summer can make a hell of a difference. Pogba made his decision on the fact that he didn’t get enough 1st team football last season and concluded that SAF had not kept his promise of playing him. He left even before we had gone into pre-season. He could very well have started regularly this season had he stayed on, who knows for sure, so. He might well have been too impatient (as a lot of young players are, like Bale, etc).

  313. Hamzah says:

For those Welback bashers, some players are slow developers, who could have imagined Teddy Sheringham having a career at a club like United, I was one of Darren Fletcher’s worst critics but he won me over and I’ve said this before and say it again, when Fletcher was sent of that CL semi against Arsenal I knew we were screwed in the final against Barca, from being a Fletcher doubter I started to worry whenever he wasn’t in our starting 11!
going back to Welback, as I’ve said before he is a Thiery Hennry type of player, any one remember him?
He was considered a failure at Juve!
As soon as Welback improves his composure and first touch, that will help him score more goals and believe me, we will have a monster of a player in our hands, just give him time!
IMHO he will be a truly great player, he has all it takes to be the complete striker!

  314. samuel - united WE stand says:

The only thing missing is composure in welbeck’s game. Completely Baffles me when some mention “first touch”, “control” and passing” but i’ve always felt he’s got,all that, his all round game is very good. It’s not about being a slow developer, it’s about a lack of composure which can be worked. He has the lot in his game, it’s just the calmness in front of goal which isn’t there but one i hope will come eventually. Welbeck has the potential to be top class, hence why he has edged hernandez out of the way.

  315. Trafford Tool says:

Unfortunately, though, while we’re waiting for Welbeck to turn into Thierry Henry, Chicharito’s wasting away on the bench.

As usual, Danny’s getting a hell of a lot more playing time than Javier, but the goal output hardly reflects it.

For all of SAF’s talk about his new “fearsome foursome” strikeforce, I don’t see these four staying together for much longer. Chicharito will probably be gone by January.

It will be a loss for us–a much bigger one that many here will realize at first–but it will likely be what’s best for him, as spending his prime years on the bench just isn’t fair to him.

  316. TC says:

    Off topic:

I work behind a bar and I got talking to one of the regulars, and it turns out that he own/runs a company that supplies seats for all the various stadia around the country, including old Trafford. Apparently they get £100k worth of business each year from us, so that’s a 100k spent on seats which will be whacked on top of season ticket prices. We carried on chatting and it’s ALWAYS in the away fans section they do all the work. Assuming there’s 50k season ticket holders, it’s an extra £2 per ticket holder + glazer tax that away fans alone are costing us and driving the faithful out. I know it’s only a couple of quid but this is only the seats, not to mention the fittings and concourses etc they undoubtedly trash. Cut away fans allocation and lump the cost onto their tickets!!

  317. United Till I Die says:

    @Samuel

Balls? I would call that delusional on an unproven player’s part.

    – you think having faith in your own ability is delusional for an unproven player? Crikey.

He showed good form but that was in the reserves. Stepping up against world class players is totally different to youth football.

    - haha, thats exactly why he went to Juve mate. Pogba was pissing on reserve football and he clearly disagreed with Fergie’s pace of development . Now he’s playing first team football with the Champions of Italy and he’s certainly stepping up to the challenge.

he decided to go about it the wrong way, fucked the club about with his indecisive comments when clearly, he already had a deal completed with juve.

    - What are you suggesting he should’ve been as GORMLESS as Berbatov? If Dimmy had his wits about him he’d be playing at a better Club than Fulham. Its called Capitalism mate, football is nothing but a business. Pogba made the right move and all our youngsters have taken note.

Pogba is the type that needed to be got rid of before he got too big for his boots.

    - haha was he supposed to solely rely on Fergie to tell him his worth as a player? The reality is Fergie told him he wasn’t ready so Pogba fucked him off and now he’s scoring against Napoli to go top of the table. Too big for his boots my arse.

He scored in one serie a game and that suddenly means he’s the finished product?.

    - Come on pal don’t stoop to straw man arguments or whats the point in having a debate? Stick to making good points. Obviously Pogba isn’t the finished article for fuck sake he’s still a kid. Scoring the winner / being involved with the first just made sure he made the headlines.

The manager is not perfect but i don’t think any fan actually have an idea about the development of youth within training e.t.c or if they’re ready.

    - Im no expert but he was class against Napoli. Should be interesting to see if Fergie still reckons he isn’t good enough. We all heard promises about Pogba starting games last season but did he? A promise is a comfort to a fool mate. Not everybody is as gullible as Berbatov.

  318. Proverb says:

I heard old trafford will be expanded, adding a few seats in the stands to 90k seats possibly could even amount to 100k seats capacity, not for the sake of it but to help reduce the crazy amount of quids fans gets charged for match day tickets
For one think the idea is welcome as fans aren’t affording to pay anymore just imagine those who bring the whole family to games, its really not affordable even though many still show up but the atmosphere isn’t hostile anymore that was one more thing teams feared old trafford for, it was very scary, noisy and really hostile difficult for teams to handle
As I said a really great idea

  319. gexmex says:

I have been reading the thread, which has helped me sorting my thoughts about the 4 strikers situation. First, there is a strong feeling here that the Welbeck/Hernandez case is one of “either-or”, with Welbeck being the preferred choice, at least for most of those writing here.
Until yesterday’s match I would disagree , thinking in terms of rotation etc. Now, however, I must agree with those saying that Hernandez will eventually leave (by eventually I mean January). First, he will be getting only 10 – 15 minutes in a match, if he is lucky, or become a League Cup player. Second, every major football team with a striker problem is more than aware of his situation, and soon they will start sending him love letters. Third, most of you are not aware of the kind of pressure the Mexican press is putting on him. It makes me sad, but that is the way things are.

  320. United Till I Die says:

    @gexmex

We’d be crazy to let Hernandez leave. Rooney, RVP and Welbeck aren’t enough cover for the amount of games we play, and why would we jettison a proven goal scorer? Hernandez has already improved aspects of his link-up play and passing this season, its too early to write him off.

He won’t leave in January imo. Everybody I’ve spoken to reckons Nani to Juve is as good as done but im not buying that one either.

I’ll be delighted to see everybody still here after the next window closes. We need to bring more young Squad players into the first team, not sell established talent about to start the best years of their career. Neither Nani or Chica is the finished article, but they are both close to it.

  321. Proverb says:

    @Gexmex
I’d like to agree with you since as you said you read the whole thread and changed a few ideas you had in mind regarding our forwards and how the guys will get game time..
That’s not true mate, its still early in the season and neither welbez nor chicha has a guaranteed starting place, welbeck is currently ahead in the packing order due to our current system his all round game and work rate favors him more
As for chicha, he’ll get his fair share of games he just needs to be patient focus more on improving his allround game than being worried of his place being (taken) [taken is the movie imma going to watch tonight so ironic] I know chicha is a fighter and he’ll come back with guns blazed that’s how the kid handles pressure..
getting worried by things such as that its a normal thing in life, if you don’t seek help cause there’s a problem but you need to calm down its still early days

  322. Ash says:

I fucking laugh when someone says he cannot play in premiership because he is not ready. Tell me on e thing how can a player be ready of he is not selected. Sie alex has become a bit conservative. He is hesitant in giving the youngster chances. Nick powell should have got some minutes atleast yesterday. Leading 3-1 at home yet scholes is playing. Cleverly is 23 and is playing some good football yet he is rested.
Liverpool may be shit but when I see there line up featuring a 17 year old player , I get upset. Manchester united are a club which give young players chance to shine. I know we still are developing some great young players but they have to be given chance. I would be shocked if I see giggs starting against Braga. Tell me one advantage of starting with giggs or scholes. They should be used as super subs and not starting games and playing for 70 minutes. No positives can attained from that. Period

  323. samuel - united WE stand says:

That’s right. Feel the entire team with 17year olds, oh dear.

  325. samuel - united WE stand says:

That’s right. Fill the entire team with 17year olds, oh dear.

  326. Ash says:

I still rate Powell more than pogba. Pogba is a good player but I didn;t find anything special when I saw him play. Powell look like a real deal. Tunni is also great but again No signs of him getting chance to play. I am not saying start with young players but atleast use them as sub. How would a youngster feel if he sees a 38 and 39 year old veterans still starting ahead of them. As much as I love both theses legends its time they retire. No I am serious. They have to step down. Scholesy is playing some good football but he is not able to do that consistently. We have to think of our future. A future when Sir alex leaves. Sir alex has a great ability of developing new stars. I doubt how good would be our new manager in developing new stars. SO it would be good if new players cement their place while Sir alex is in charge. It pains me to say but Scholes and giggs should retire.

  327. Ash says:

    Samuel

When did I say fill the whole team with 17 year old. See thats the problem, you don’t have points to present a proper argument. Just saying something mindless.

  328. Proverb says:

:D , @samuel their 17 year old is tantalizing already, I just don’t know where but the boy has a future, really good that one
    you just can’t deny it
But there’s only one way of unleashing their potential, playing them
One younger player should have been played after all seemed we had all 3 points in the bag
    Powell one of them

  329. Ash says:

For once we need to take our red tinted glass off and think reasonably. I will again say there is no positive in starting with Giggs and scholes. I want to see young players like Tunni,Powell,Lingard,Petrucci etc play under Sir alex. Not saying start with all of them. But when there is chance atleast give them 15-20 mins.

  330. Ash says:

    Proverb

Well said. How can a young player without given proper chance. There wouldn’t have been a scholes or a giggs if they were not given chance. Giggs started his career at 17. Beckham and scholes were playing 30-40 games at 20. No one can question the management of Sir laex but I feel he has become conservative. He is not taking risks like he used to take earlier.

  331. Ash says:

How can a young player become great without given proper chance.

For everyone going on about Pogba…….he came off the BENCH yesterday. He’s only started 1 game this season, let’s wait and see how many he ultimately makes.

I’m a big fan of his though, think he does have a lot of quality.

  334. Proverb says:

Of cause @ash, the likes of ronaldo were given game time still at their early age, they were still abit row but had bags of potential and they rewarded the boss
This kids need to be played even the last couple of minutes of a already wrapped up match are important

  335. Sparkz says:

If Pogba left purely for first team football, I can kinda see his thinking. From when the likes of Park, rafael, Jones etc were playing in midfield ahead of him…..you can understand his frustration.

However, we were in a title race, so it would have been an almighty risk to give him games in the second half of last season. Even Cleverley didn’t get games on his return from injury, Fergie went with the tried and trusted Scholes and Carrick combo every week. If we’d been in the FA Cup or League Cup, that might have been a way to give him game time.

Saying all that, I personally think there was a financial/agent driven motivation to his decision as well. And his attitude towards the club/manager was also pretty poor.

  336. samuel - united WE stand says:

The pogba is long drawn out, i’m not wasting anymore time posting about it. I’ve said it and will repeat it, unproven younger players should not be demanding anything, if you show levels of stepping up and the manager can place trust in you then he’ll play. Berbatov is a proven player, he didn’t entirely decide to stay, the club made a decision to keep him and rightly so, they squandered bucket loads of money on him. If berba feels comfortable at fulham then i wouldn’t begrudge him for making his own decision.

Pogba believed in his ability or not, the manager of the club decides when he’s ready, he has show throughout his career that he’ll eventually hand you the opportunities, all you have to do is believe in that ability and bide your time, pogba decided not to do the latter which is fair enough He left in an unsavoury manner, displayed the wrong attitudes that reminiscent of younger players asking for too much, too soon.

Long journey ahead for pogba and all young players and even if he becomes star which is potential suggest he will then i don’t think the manager would be bothered, you lose some, you win some. Pogba may have started that game but he still faces an even more tougher challenge to break into a very good/experienced midfield.

And as for the “straw man” thing, you must be having a laugh. if i think a debate is pointless then that would be my logic. Pogba is a juventus player.

  337. Proverb says:

I’m unsure of what to say about pogba
Regardless of his talent, I think he let himself down he was ahead of everyone in the packing order and fergie showed he believed in him and that’s good enough
I can’t take seriously one who go by the advice offered by his bitter rival, he lost my respect right there morrison included. Great move by fergie, morrison

  338. Sparkz says:

Also, I’ve written a piece about the Fergie/Rio fallout if anyone’s interested –

    http://twobanksoffour.wordpress.com/2012/10/21/potential-pr-disaster-brewing-for-manchester-united/

If you can’t be bothered reading it lol – couple of points I’d like to make:

    1) Something nobody has mentioned to my knowledge…….Neville, Keane, Scholes and Carroll did the same thing as Rio back in 2005. Refused to wear an anti-racism tracksuit. I don’t recall Fergie criticising them then?

    2) The one thing the Gaffer is known for is never criticising his players in public. He prides himself on it. So yesterday was pretty poor going if you ask me. PR wise, its similar to some of Dalglish’s behaviour last year….but at least he was trying to defend his player. Fergie has done the exact opposite. When you consider that around 10 other players boycotted the T-shirts…..and none of them were publicly rebuked by their managers…….it makes Fergie’s actions look even worse.

  339. WeAreUnited says:

@gex mex, I will put the exact comment that a fellow mate put to you.

We’d be crazy to let Hernandez leave. Rooney, RVP and Welbeck aren’t enough cover for the amount of games we play, and why would we jettison a proven goal scorer? Hernandez has already improved aspects of his link-up play and passing this season, its too early to write him off.

    ……

One thing I don’t get it, when has this “Chicha will leave” rumour started, the guy wants to stay here, he says that all the time, and if you are not blind, you have seen that this year he has developed his all around game. Did you see in yesterdays game, his through ball to RVP, just so the finald whistle came down.
CMON. Are you crazy, to let a clinical striker to go? Just because we have alot of players? Only a stupid manager would let that player go in January.

ANd as for Welbz, I agree with SAMUEL that he needs composure, he has the skill and moves. He’s better than Sterling, playing for ManUtd and scoring goals, and still you go and hype Sterling more than our player.

We have 4 superstrikers and then 2-3 young strikers coming up, and we are willing to let them go, cause it hurts to see them not play? cmon. Livershit is crying for strikers and we complain cause we have too many good strikers.

    peace.

Legendary quotes in this one ;)

  341. WeAreUnited says:

The question for me is more like,

Is Chicha ready to be the next Solskjaer, and by this I mean, is he ready to stay here, and fight for his place, and will he be satisfied if, he will nto play every game for us, cause we have 2 lethal strikers available. Will he accept his role this season. I can’t say anything for the next.

By his words, he is ready to stay and play 5 or 90 minutes and fight for his place. He is a rare player, because he loves our club. How many player, in our team, after they score goes and kisses the badge every freaking time? Tell me? He scored in his first season 20 goals, kisses the badge 15 times (a guess) I know, I cannot read too much into it, but we know he means it.

SO it’s more in his hands than in ours. If we are lucky. He stays here and becomes one of our legends. If he sees himself playing somewhere else, well that will be unfortunate for us. He is foreign, so it’s an option. But he is a decent lad, and I hope he stays with us.

    @proverb

if you watching taken2, it’s BS, so bad, but you will laugh at that movie.

It’s nothing like the first one. Hidious :P I laughed all the time.

  344. United Till I Die says:

I don’t think I’ve ever seen the manager make a complete twat of himself before but he’s managed it twice in one week. Slagging of Jason Roberts was fucking stupid for starters as its none of Manchester United’s business what Jason Roberts does in protest against racism in football. But to go on and threaten Rio for his own stance against racism in football? Even when his brother has been a victim and their whole family have received death threats from racists?

Nah, instead of holding the world to rights Fergie should’ve simply said NO COMMENT when he was asked about what Roberts was doing. The press played him like a fucking instrument and that footage of him smugly slagging of Roberts will be used to crucify him. He had no business OR right to sit up there before the worlds press and belittling a player’s stance against racism in football.

Roberts was right, Ferguson was wrong, and im amazed the wiley old Scot didn’t see it coming. Those in the ABU press are gonna shit on him for his poor choice of words. This is the latest twist (of the knife) – its not pretty.

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2012/oct/21/rio-ferdinand-kick-it-out-pfa

The Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) chairman, Clarke Carlisle, told BBC Radio 5 Live:

“We will definitely monitor the (Rio) situation very closely and make sure Rio Ferdinand’s rights as a human being, never mind as a footballer, are not undermined in this position.

“Everyone has a right to free speech – just like you can’t coerce anyone into shaking hands, you can’t make somebody wear a T-shirt – although I do personally believe that joining in with the campaign is the best way forward. And then for all these players to get together and put what it is they want down on paper so we together as a union – all the players, one with another – can make those changes and move forward.”

“There are two sides to this one. First of all, Sir Alex Ferguson is continual in his unwavering support for the Kick It Out campaign which is commendable and what we all want to see but you can’t vilify or coerce any individual (RIo) for making a stand.

“This shouldn’t be seen as an element of control or defiance – just like Sir Alex Ferguson said when he was talking about Jason Roberts in his first interview, he doesn’t know the reasons why this stand is being made and what we should do first of all is hear those reasons and listen to them and take them on board.

“Sir Alex Ferguson said he was embarrassed and that is because of the statement he had made but Brian McDermott and Alan Pardew, these guys said they had entered into dialogue with their players and listened to the reasons for them making their stand.

“So I would sincerely hope that Sir Alex Ferguson now speaks with Rio Ferdinand and asks him why he wanted to make that stand and hopefully supports the position he is in and it isn’t seen as a player-against-manager situation.”

SO there you have it – Ferguson was defending the PFA when he slagged off Roberts and threatened Rio but it turns out the PFA don’t want to be associated with Ferguson’s “opinion” on these players. Like I said, with the issue of racism so high on the agenda our manager was a MUG for giving the ABU press ammunition to portray him as a backward, old fool.

Because that is what they’re doing. Rio shouldn’t back down either, and im glad to see he isn’t. He’s a grown man for fuck sake and he’s earned every medal he’s won. He doesn’t owe it to anybody at the Club to stay silent on an issue that effects the safety of his family – are you lot soft in the fucking head?

  347. samuel - united WE stand says:

The key thing is, the manager watches these younger players regularly, he knows when they are ready to embrace the pressure of first team football. Giggs and scholes are at the last stages of their careers, most likely the two could retire at the end of the season. If a young player is wise then he’ll know that more first team opportunities is close. The likes of lingard, powell, tunni, cole, will/michael keane, henriquez, king e.t.c will get their opportunities but they have to be eased in gradually as this club is mainly about getting high pressured results, the youth policy is a bonus. You have to manage young players in the right manner as their confidence could easily shatter if expectations aren’t instantly met. Fergie isn’t conservative, he’s more experienced than most regarding youth, he has continiously bought or invested in them. Looking through the current first team squad, there are examples of what rewards a young player can get if they keep the right temprament. I’m one of many that keeps a keen eye on young players and i want them in the team but they can’t have pressure piled on them and they need to be eased in and they need to be made hungry for more opportunities as some can get too big for their boots.

This is my point with pogba, he could have stayed and showed he’s far better than scholes or any other experienced midfielder but he decided to leave, only walk into a more tougher situation of struggling for opportunities at juve. Patience is key.

  348. Red Keighley says:

United Till I Die: I came on here to post something similar to you after seeing Clark Carlisle’s comment about the PFA supporting Rio’s stance and quite right to because thats what a trade union is supposed to do! But I will add very little because you have written a very accurate and appropriate analysis of this ridiculous situation that SAF has got himself into. I am particulary surprised because of SAF’s background as a strong trade unionist in the Govan shipyards but here he is acting like some latter day Victorian mill owner telling his worsforce what they will think and how they will act.
Rio should be commended (along with the other black players) for making a stand against the ineffectiveness of the football authorities to deal effectively with racism in this country.
Read Daniel Taylors article in todays Observer which shows that racist incidents in football are on the increase! http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/blog/2012/oct/20/racism-serbia-england-danny-rose

  349. SHINJI THE NINJA says:

Rio has the right to protest or not to protest.
If he told Fergie he would wear it and then chose not to then that is one matter and the manager has a point to ask “Why did you make me look a twat”. If he simply chose not to wear it and never said he would in the first place then it is nobody`s business but his own and certainly not something that Fergie has any say in whatsoever .
Footballers and Managers should stick to what goes on the field of play and leave the laws of the land, the laws of the FA and the like to politicians and policy makers.
It is already NOT allowed in Law or in Football Association Law to be racist, act racist, say racist things etc etc – They just need to apply the fucking law equally and quickly.
T-Shirts arent the problem and who does or doesnt wear a T-shirt is not the problem.
Lying cowards like Ashley Cole are the problem. Suarez and Terry are the problem and the fact both are still playing for their clubs shows that all the “Kick out Racism” talk is just that……………….talk.

  350. samuel - united WE stand says:

If united can play well in the champions league then these young players will get opportunities, same goes in the league cup or fa cup. I think united’s defensive lapses/making games closer than they should be is making fergie hold back in terms playing younger players in a competitive premier league. Like i always say, he’s not flawless but it amazes me when people doubt fergie’s intent to bring players through. He continiously lavishes praise regarding their potential, he’s got scouts around the globe looking for the best younger players, he ends up giving them his trust when they show they’re ready and when i mean “ready”, it’s not just by playing them instantly, he watches them compete against top players in training, the coaches give him feedback regarding their attitudes and development both physically and tactically. His aim is to get them to carry on the club, even beyond his tenure at the club.

  351. Trafford Tool says:

    @WeAreUnited

Your points are well taken, but this isn’t just about whether Chicharito loves this club or not. I think we all know he considers it a privilege to play for United and that his kissing of the badge is not just a perfunctory move, as it is for some players. As gexmex has mentioned more than once over the last few weeks, Javier is under tremendous pressure from back home to get himself into the starting rotation consistently. They want to see him play. They hate to see him on the bench. He might be patient, but they’re not.

He’s got a whole nation behind him, which is a great honor, but it’s also great pressure, presssure that none of us here can even imagine or relate to.

In the end, honest, God-fearing and sincere a young man though he is, he might just end up succumbing to it and signing on with another club just so he can play more often.

Many of us here might not think so, but unless you’re following developments in Mexico you really don’t know the full story right now.

  352. MURebel says:

Rio is just jealous of Terry. Terry gets to screw all the women AND get the nod over Rio.

Of course he is going to throw tantrums!!!

  353. Marq says:

Whats with the Pogba discussion? He came off the bench a scored a decent goal, suddenly he is a world beater? By that logic Gibson should be attracting attention from Barca & Real

I’m not suggesting he is a bad player, but a good goal does not make a good player. If anyone wants to rate him, do so after he becomes the first name on the team sheet.

  354. Redbilly says:

Re Pogba- personally I think the lad will flourish into a great player, barring injuries and the usual entrapments on offer . The point was. He started to mess the club around and as we all know , the boss will not tolerate it . The closest we’ve seem to a player playing the club was Rooney but he’s a proven talent. I believe the boss considerd the affect on the many . Youth and first team players alike . If ge had bowed to Paul’s wishes , he would have set a precedent . Good luck to the lad I say. Though he’s not one of ours so I won’t be following his interest in detail. He’s gone , let it go I say. Only united matters .

  355. Denton Davey says:

Ash @ 18:07: “Sie alex has become a bit conservative. He is hesitant in giving the youngster chances.”

Yes/No – he hasn’t been “hesitant” in regards to BigManSmalling, DannyTheLad, MrJones, or RedRafa; he’s played YoungTom and Chicharito, too. This is based on the evidence of the past couple of years.

He’s given lots of playing time to new “veteran” recruits Ashley Young and KagawaBunga, too.

However, the problem seems to me to be that most of these “youngsters” – RedRafa and KagawaBunga apart – are not performing at the high AND consistent level to be seriously-great UTD players. Most of the rest are relatively-limited in their talent – “relatively-limited” in the circumstances of what it takes to be a “seriously good UTD player – and so they are likely destined to be UTD speak-carriers like, say, John O’Shea, Phil Neville, Wesley Brown, and ThreeLungPark.

On the other hand, SAF has been too loyal to guys like RedNev, SirRyanGiggs, TheGingerNinja, and now Rio. These guys have been warriors for the cause and, as such, “trusted lieutenants” but their glory days have faded – or are fading in the case of Rio and Paul Scholes. Every match-start SAF gives to TheGingerNinja or SirRyanGiggs at the expense of YoungTom or Anderson stalls their development. This is a tough call for a manager because it’s not clear that on any given day, Scholes might be the better choice ahead of the other two BUT by consistently picking Scholes over the two younger players he’s putting his eggs in a basket which has structural problems. No question, a 26 year-old Scholes would be a no-doubter as the first-choice player BUT this 38year-old version lacks foot speed, has the turning-circle of an oil tanker, and plays ten/fifteen yards too far away from the attack. I reckon that if this team is going to seriously compete for trophies in March/April then the transition away from Giggs/Scholes towards Anderson/Cleverley has to have happened; if not, I can see the good ship UTD run aground in the spring.

The situation with Rio is different – right now, there’s no one to pick up playing time as CaptainVidic, BigManSmalling, and MrJones are ALL injured; hopefully, when these three guys get back to match-fitness then Rio’s role will be seriously reduced.

  356. Sparkz says:

@Denton – ” Most of the rest are relatively-limited in their talent – “relatively-limited” in the circumstances of what it takes to be a “seriously good UTD player – and so they are likely destined to be UTD speak-carriers like, say, John O’Shea, Phil Neville, Wesley Brown, and ThreeLungPark.”

Which ones are you referring to?

  357. SHINJI THE NINJA says:

It is one thing for us to let a player go because he isn`t going to cut it and another for him to go because he feels United are not keeping promises that were made.
Pogba claims that promises of first team football that were made were not kept. I understand why when he sees players like Giggs or Rafael even being asked to play in the centre of midfield rather than giving him a chance to show his readiness, at least letting him try and show his ability.
    Personally I believe him.

As regards whether or not he is the real deal , he is, he absolutely is and we should never have let him go. Pogba was the PERFECT player to play alongside Cleverley for years and years to come.

  358. United Till I Die says:

@Marq – Pogba is being spoken about because his comments about Vieira and Ferguson were posted on this page. Thats a good enough reason init? Personally I wasn’t even planning on mentioning his performance but I didn’t like the delusional manner in which he was being slagged off based on his comments.

Lets get some perspective… we’re drawing nil nil with City and its the 78th minute…

Step up Chris Powell as a substitute, and within 2 minutes we’re 1-0 ahead thanks to Powell taking two defenders with him to create space for Rooney to score.

Then, a few minutes later, Powell pops up against Hart and scores a beauty of a goal, his first for the Club, securing all 3 points in a must win game against our title rivals.

…now, if that happens this season, wouldn’t Powell deserve SOME KINDA praise?

Of course he should, and thats my point mate – Pogba did all that against Napoli and won the match. It wasn’t just his goal, it was the mature way he left his mark on a must win game. The thing is unless you saw his performance you wouldn’t know what im on about – he was class.

He changed the entire game like Scholes did against Southampton. Juve were not going to win all 3 points until Pogba came on.

Obviously he isn’t a Red anymore, and for what its worth im far more interested in the Squad we’ve still got. But Pogba was a Red, and I won’t be joining the delusional rush to slag him off and claim he isn’t actually that good just because he dumped us. That would be pathetic.

  359. Hamzah says:

For those Welback bashers, some players are slow developers, who could have imagined Teddy Sheringham having a career at a club like United, I was one of Darren Fletcher’s worst critics but he won me over and I’ve said this before and say it again, when Fletcher was sent of that CL semi against Arsenal I knew we were screwed in the final against Barca, from being a Fletcher doubter I started to worry whenever he wasn’t in our starting 11

going back to Welback, as I’ve said before he is a Thiery Hennry type of player, any one remember him?
He was considered a failure at Juve
As soon as Welback improves his composure and first touch, that will help him score more goals and believe me, we will have a monster of a player in our hands, just give him time!
IMHO he will be a truly great player, he has all it takes to be the complete striker!

  360. WeAreUnited says:

    off topic

Have you seen this? This guy will become somethign special

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cg8gwhlyeno Neymar, wow. what a goal, no matter what league.

If you have played 1-2 games of football you will know that this is not easy.

  361. United Till I Die says:

    haha, I mean Nick Powell.

  362. Voice of Reason says:

Fergie bang out of order re Rio – more evidence for me that his touch is slipping

  363. WeAreUnited says:

    @ United Till I Die

should I say more, wow nicely put again.

An near example was, when we won Wigan 4-0 or was it 5-0. And Powell came on ans scroed. How happy we were? RIGHT? and that was against Wigan.

He got praised for that. He is our future etc. AND YES HE IS. But for comparison.

Then comes Pogba and does that against a rival that can be compared in that league for let’s say Arsenal for us. And does that what you mentioned.

And people say he did nothing, he came off the bench he hasn’t proved anything.

Okey so which is more delusional. Coming against Napoli and create a chance and score, or scoring against Wigan, when we lead 3-4 and then get praise.

Nick Powell is the future, no doubt, but it is a different momentum for both. Pogba scored when needed.

Let’s hope Powell gets that same chance, like Macheda did. Look what he managed to do. Unfortunately it got into his head and now he’s nowhere seen.

  364. WeAreUnited says:

    @Hamzah

yeah same here with Fletcher. And I agree for Welbeck also.

Sometimes people don’t know what we have and are never grateful

Stop comparing every player to Messi cause it’s not fair :P so let’s give Welbz a chance to show himself. 21 year old palyer who will make himself a name when he is 25

  365. United Till I Die says:

    Im still laughing….

I’d be fucking baffled if Chris Powell started limbering up as a sub replacement for Scholes against CIty haha.

    Right im off lads.

Ferguson needs to pull back on his dispute with Rio. The mans family received a bullet in the post for fuck sake, have a heart (and a brain)!

Meanwhile – Braga, Chelsea, Chelsea, Braga, Arsenal – it doesn’t get any better than that!

    UTID

  366. Denton Davey says:

Sparkz @ 20:08: “which ones are you referring to”

BigManSmalling, DannyTheLad, MrJones, YoungTom, Chicharito, and Ashley Young.

No doubt these guys are going to be really good players but I have my doubt that they have the overall ability to be “seriously good” UTD players. The bar is set very high to reach that standard.

Of that group, I think that BigManSmalling has the best chance of being a “seriously good” UTD player.

I remain to be convinced by DannyTheLad, MrJones or YoungTom – maybe (just maybe) they can be “seriously good” in a best-case scenario but I’m sceptical that they can be consistently at that level.

AND, it pains me to say, BUT i don’t think Chicharito will get there.

I’ve never understood why SAF spent so much money to buy Ashley Young. He might be Ingerland-quality but he’s not UTD-quality.

  367. Adam says:

@shinji..agree .i guess I’ll repeat my post comments again..
Have said it before that letting this guy go was a massive Fuck up on our part and that it wasn’t all about money but his desire for first team football, for which i absolutely thought he was ready. i was attacked by many with these comments..oh you know better than saf, he’ll prove to be a washout, he’s just greedy for instant cash…
I think even letting him on when we had a game wrapped up instead of bringing on retires, and other players out of position would have showed him we’re serious about him in our first team and that he wouldn’t watch from the bench for another year which he made obvious through his many comments he would not do.

Regarding our current season and win against stoke with our lineup:

What is it that we’re trying to accomplish this season? I was hoping that this would be our year of complete transition to youth, answering the question of who is our midfield future, getting a solid and clear 11 taking us forward and taking back title from CITY!

I do not want to be here again next season wondering if cleverly, Anderson, Powell are the future. FFs, let scholes, gigs go in piece and let these guys fully prove their worth.

As i said after the first game, Sorry, but unless we focus entirely on epl this season and try to get our youth on, we will be lucky with being in the top 4. We are too u stable for the cl and not ready to challenge there. If we try to do both we will end up empty handed again this season.

Also, despite Danny finally scoring, I still feel he needs to go on one year loan. He lacks the composure we need up front, and this will probably come in the next 2 years for him, but we can’t afford to waste precious opportunities.

  368. Jay says:

If Hernandez does not get games this season he will be off and to be honest I wouldn’t blame him. He is not stupid and he will see how Berbatov was dealt with and wonder if the same treatment would be applied to him, if he feels that is the case he will be off. Hernandez is someone that is not a money hungry player, he is the player that contributed to our 20th league title and played a part in getting us to the CL final. There are plenty of clubs in Spain, Italy and even in the premier league who would love to have him. Yes Welbeck is a better all round player but Hernandez is a better finisher. It’s all good scoring against San Marino and Stoke, but when you have a player who scores against top four teams, scores against Spain, France and Argentina and gives you goals when you really need it I look at Hernandez. He had a better scoring rate than Welbeck per game and minutes last season while also being injured.
